If your dog does pull while wearing the Urban Trail harness, the pressure will be on their chest and not on the neck. It includes four points of connection for the leash, which is unique. It has the traditional back clip, and a front clip, which can help with minimizing pulling. It also has a clip on the left and right, which can be used if you bike or jog with your dog as it keeps the harness from getting twisted to one side. It comes in six colors and has a reflective strip along the neck for safety and visibility at night. The neck and girth straps are both adjustable so you can ensure it fits your Golden well. The interior is lined with a breathable mesh, to help your pup stay cool. The straps are padded and comfortable but still offer a non-restrictive fit so your Golden can move freely. This is one of the best harnesses for a Golden Retriever who lives for outdoor activities. The design incorporates a handle, which can be a convenient way to help your dog up a steep bank or to pull them back into the canoe if they decide to go for a swim out on the lake. The handle can also be helpful if you need to get control of your Golden quickly. Additionally, it can be a really nice feature for older Golden Retrievers who may need some extra assistance while out and about or even just around the house. It has one connection point for the leash at the back of the shoulders. The 3 in 1 Harness offers 5 points of adjustment for a highly customizable fit. There are several options available for ensuring your dog is safe and under control when walking, including a regular flat buckle collar or a harness. A harness offers some benefits that may be helpful to you and your pup that may be better than just a collar. Squirrel brain is real! When they pull on a collar, that puts a lot of pressure on their neck, which can even cause damage to the internal structure of it. A harness eliminates that risk, as the pressure is lower on the chest. A front-clip harness can discourage pulling. For many dogs, this can really help them learn to walk with a loose leash. Some dogs will still need additional training for leash walking, but the harness can aid in the learning process. A harness can make outdoor adventures easier. Some harnesses come with handles, which can come in handy if you and your pup are adventurous types. If your Golden needs some assistance navigating a rocky stretch on your hike, a harness can make helping your pup out easier and safer than just a collar. If your Golden Retriever enjoys jumping off a dock to swim, the harness gives you a way to help him back ashore. So how do you that? Most golden retriever harness manufacturers have a chart with recommended sizes based on weight, neck size, and chest size also called girth. If you use a string, just measure your dog with it, then use a ruler or tape measure to see how long the string is. And when measuring their chest, measure the widest part of their rib cage, which is just behind their elbows. Rather than simply slapping the harness on them and heading out for a walk, spend a little time getting them used to it using positive reinforcement training. This excellent video by trainer Chirag Patel shows how you can build a positive association with the harness and get your dog to cooperate with putting it on. With some patience and good treats , your dog will be happy to put the harness on while holding still. The harness will also become associated with going outside on walks, so that will build positive feelings about the harness, too. Ultimately, a harness is a tool to help you and your dog enjoy life together with more ease and comfort. So whether your pup likes leisurely neighborhood strolls, or they love long, adventurous hikes, a non-restrictive harness can be a great option for your Golden Retriever. Combine this with the fact that they are known to retain their puppy-like qualities well into adulthood, they make amazing companions for all types. Purposefully Designed Because golden retrievers make such wonderful family pets, it might be surprising to find out that the breed was originally carefully crafted to ideal hunting gundogs. The lines of goldens grew consistent and refined, and in they first made their grand appearance at a British dog show. Through Canada, the Golden made its way into America and people fell in love. Hunters loved how useful the dogs were, and families loved that they were sweet and sensible. In the s, the breed made the big time. President Ford had a beautiful golden retriever named Liberty, and more and more people wanted one. The rest is history! It is an adjustable harness that comes with two metal attachments for leashes, with one being on the front and the other at the back. The front attachment clip is meant for dogs who pull. If the dog starts pulling when the leash is attached to the front clip, they will be turned around instead of going forward. After a while, this will get frustrating, and they will learn that it is best not to pull. This makes it a great tool for teaching your feisty one how to be obedient. Once they have learned not to pull, you can switch to the back attachment clip. This harness will not give you any problems when it comes to putting it on or taking it off. The straps are also adjustable to allow you to find the size that fits snugly on the animal. This ensures that you do not have to worry about the Golden escaping the harness. This harness also comes with reflective strips to ensure that your dog is visible and therefore, safe when walking at night. The only downside to this harness is that the straps loosen after extended periods of intense activity. Nonetheless, the Rabbitgoo dog harness more than makes up for that drawback in quality and functionality, which is why we have it as our top pick. Shop now at Amazon What to Consider When Choosing a Harness With so many different types of harnesses, it can be difficult to know which one is best for your particular golden retriever. Here are some questions to ask yourself. What will I use this harness for? A simple, lightweight, durable harness is probably enough. A lifting harness can make your life much easier, particularly with a large dog like a golden retriever. Is my golden retriever a leash puller? Are they escape artists? If your dog is a leash puller, you need a harness with an attachment point on the chest. Soft, padded harnesses may be comfortable, but they can twist around when your dog pulls, making them less effective. If your dog is an escape artist, you may need a harness with an additional strap or one that can be adjusted for a closer fit. Is overheating a concern? If you live in a cold-weather climate or have a dog with short fur, the thought of overheating may not come into the picture. What is my budget? Of course, you can pick a cheap one if you need to, but it may not last very long. Be sure to balance price against durability, particularly if your dog is a leash puller or you need the harness for lifting. However, you may need a human assistant if you have a particularly wiggly dog. This will be a bit lower than wear a collar would sit. Make sure the tape measure is snug but not tight when taking your measurements. Most companies will include a sizing chart telling you how to match measurements to sizes. The actual harness will typically be an inch or two larger than the measurement to allow some slack. Frequently Asked Questions Do I need a harness just for going on walks? Golden retrievers in particular are so friendly that they may lunge after another dog to say hello, and this puts strain on their throat. What is a no-pull harness? Simply putting the leash attachment point on the back of the harness can actually allow the dog to pull harder, although it does take the pressure off their throats. In order to actually discourage pulling, the harness needs to have some mechanism that keeps the dog from lunging forward. Can a walking harness double as a seatbelt harness for the car? Some walking harnesses can. If a particular harness is safe to be used with a seatbelt, the packaging or marketing materials will usually state this. Conclusion You have plenty of choices when it comes to choosing a harness for your golden retriever. Make sure you choose one appropriate to your lifestyle, the local climate, and your budget. A poorly fitted harness can cause chafing and discomfort, so make sure you adjust it properly. Your dog should get many years of use out of a good, well-made harness.

When a dog changes from black to grey we call that fading however with a sable color we call it clearing. When puppies are 6 weeks old we can generally tell if a tricolor Bernedoodle puppy will fade and what color a sable Bernedoodle puppy will clear out to. Fading is an interesting topic and one I get a lot of grief from other breeders. I know that health and temperament are the most important but why not have it all????? Yes puppies that fade are beautiful and we love all colors but why breed without a goal? We have been breeding Bernedoodles for 8 years. We have mastered health and temperament. Why not continue upward and produce puppies that hold their color? Bernese is my heart breed. They are one of the most beautiful breeds, their loving loyal personality is something every family can benefit from. My goal is to produce puppies that even as adults look like a Bernese but have the hair of the poodle. Because our extensive experience we can now say with confidence we can tell what color your sable Bernedoodle will be when they are older. The brindle and tricolor is still a bit tricky but we are getting close! Through experience and years of research we believe we have standard lines that will not fade. The tricolor phantom coat or phantom tricolor coat color is the term used for a Bernedoodle with mostly black and rust with limited white. Phantom Tricolor is one of the most requested coat color I get. The phantom tricolor will be born with the black, rust, and white markings. As the dog gets older the hair can blend in making the phantom tricolor look like a phantom Bernedoodle. Phantom Tricolors are different from phantoms. Phantom tricolor Bernedoodles have some white while phantoms are only 2 colors usually black and rust. Some phantom tricolors will turn silver where they were once black and white where they were once brown. Some phantom tricolor Bernedoodles seem to hold their color very well. The phantom tricolor resembles a Bernese mountain dog with limited white. Bernedoodle colors and how they change The picture below is a 6 week old sable Bernedoodle and the same sable Bernedoodle a little over 2 years old. If you look close you can see the lighter color under her eyes is the same color she cleared out to. The ears seem to hold the black coloring. On the puppy picture you can see the dark tipped ear and in the adult Bernedoodle picture you can see the tips of the ears are still black. This puppy is another puppy from one of our non-fading poodles. You can see with age he is the same color as he was when he was a puppy. The picture below is a sable Bernedoodle at 8 weeks, 6 months, and over 2 years. If you look at the 8 week picture you can see that her true color is the brownish red color. You can see the brownish color under her eyes. Again the ears are tipped black and stayed black but her over all color cleared out to the color around her eyes as a young puppy. How does the sable Bernedoodle coat change? Sable Bernedoodles are born dark or even looking black. By the time they are a few days old we can tell if they are sable. The first signs of a sable bernedoodle are highlights by the ears, eyes, muzzle, and underneath the tail. When sable bernedoodles are 6 weeks old you can tell what color they will clear out to buy looking at the color under their eyes. Sable Bernedoodles will usually have a lighter brown, cream, or red coloring under and around the eyes. This is the color your sable Bernedoodle will most likely clear out to. Clearing out is different than fading. With fading we do not know what color the puppy will end up being. With clearing out the dog shows what color it will end up being around 6 weeks of age. You can see 2 examples of how the sable color clears with age below. Brindle Bernedoodle Color changes Sable Bernedoodle clearing-fading Brindle Bernedoodles seem to hold their color whether or not the poodle parent carries the fading gene. This has been the case in my breeding program. Most brindles are born with the brindle color. As the puppy gets older and the hair gets longer the colors blend in. When the puppy is shaved they will still have the brindle coloring. In other breeds brindle coloring can turn grey or silver. I have not seen this with Bernedoodles. In our program our brindle Bernedoodles seem to hold their brindle color. The picture below is one of our brindle Bernedoodle puppies around 10 weeks and 14 months. You can see great examples of some of our sable Bernedoodles on our Sable Bernedoodle page. This tricolor Bernedoodle puppy faded out to a silver color. The first picture shows 8 weeks, 4 months, 8 months, and 14 months Sable Bernedoodle color changes This puppy below is from a poodle that did not fade. You can see with age he is the same color and his rust shows more now than when he was a puppy. Merle Bernedoodle Coat Changes Any doodle can fade. Because the Bernedoodle has poodle in them they do have a tendency to fade. The fading comes from the poodle parent. Some Bernedoodles start out as black and turn silver. Some Bernedoodles start out looking black and turn cream. Your dogs genetics determine if your puppy will fade. There is not a test available to determine if your dog carries the fading gene. The only way to reduce fading in the Bernedoodle is to know the lineage and chose breeding dogs that have not faded and come from long lines of non-fading poodles. Even with that there is a chance your puppy could change colors with age. The lighter the rust is as a puppy the lighter the rust will be as an adult if your Bernedoodle has the fading gene. It has been interesting to watch the past eight years how the tricolor Bernedoodle color changes. One thing I am finding is that hair type can have an affect on whether or not they fade at an early age. Bernedoodles with a straighter coat seem to hold their color better than Bernedoodles with a curly coat regardless if the poodle parent carries the fading gene. Tricolor Bernedodoles with a poodle parent that faded to silver where their rust used to be seem to start fading as young as 10 weeks. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a phantom poodle parent seem to start fading a bit later around months. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a sable poodle parent seem to start fading around months. Tricolor Bernedoodles from a poodle parent that has not faded seem to hold their color. Because all of our puppies from our poodle parents that do not seem to carry the fading gene are under 2 years old we do not know what age they will start fading or if they will hold their color until they turn grey from old age. Do Bernedoodles Fade? The merle Bernedoodle coat is a newer coat color. Our Merle Bernedoodles are to young to know how their color will be as adults. So far what we are seeing is that the merle coat is actually turning a darker shade of grey. You can see with age his rust lightened up to a tan color and his coat came in wavy. This tricolor Bernedoodle puppy is from one of our phantom poodles that did fade. This picture shows the Bernedoodle puppy at 9 weeks, 5 months, 9 months, and 18 months. Sable Bernedoodle Colors This tricolor phantom Bernedoodle puppy below is from out phantom male Trip. He over 2 years old and is the same color as when he was 8 weeks old. You can see that his rust is very similar to that of a pure Bernese mountain dog. He has a straighter coat. Tricolor Bernedoodle fading. Last updated: August 19, Do Bernedoodles shed? And the answer, as with most things related to dogs, is: it depends! What Is a Bernedoodle? A cross breed of the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Standard Poodle, the Bernedoodle is an exceptionally adorable pup that neither sheds nor drools much. Its hypoallergenic quality makes it an even more appealing pet option for families. Bernedoodles are outstandingly smart and easy to train. Not only that, but they are very outgoing and active puppies while also being great for a comfy cuddle on the couch. These puppies have a special fondness for children. As for their looks, they usually come in a tricolor coat, but some Bernedoodle puppies end up being pure black, black and white, or a random mix. Do Bernedoodles Shed? The short answer is that bernedoodles shed, but they are not considered a high-shedding breed. Bernedoodle Coat Types There are four main types of Bernedoodle coat types. On top of that — it rarely sheds! Although this dog hair is low-maintenance and undemanding, it still needs grooming from time to time to become the softest fur it can be! However, these Bernedoodles are much more difficult to take care of, so be wary of that! Wavy Coat — Most F1 Bernedoodles have a wavy fur which requires daily brushing, and it occasionally leaves loose hair around. Pups that have this type of fur bring more health benefits to the table, while also being less demanding to take care of. When Do Bernedoodles Shed Their Puppy Coat As soon as the Bernedoodle puppy reaches nine months of age, it starts to lose its baby coat and begins its regular hair growing process. Remember that you have many options to choose from and it depends solely on your preferences. How to Reduce Shedding If your pup does end up shedding more than usual, you can follow some simple tips to ease your troubles. Regular brushing — Prevent loose hairs from falling everywhere, while also putting an end to matting and tangling by brushing your Bernedoodle every few days. Medicine for dog allergies — Allergies can cause dry skin, and in turn increase shedding. Use upholstery covers — Upholstery covers are easy to clean and save you a lot of time that you would usually spend dealing with loose puppy hairs. Conclusion So, do these dogs shed? The answer is that it depends on the individual pup and several other factors. In general, bernedoodles are not considered a high-shedding breed. If you are concerned about Bernedoodle shedding, be sure to ask the breeder about the coat type of the puppy you are interested in and whether or not the dog has been neutered. Do F1 Bernedoodles shed? Are Bernedoodles hypoallergenic? Do Bernedoodles shed more than goldendoodles? Not really. Both of bernedoodles and goldendoodles are known for their lack of shedding. If this factor is an important one for you, then picking one of these breeds is definitely a good idea. As we combine two different purebred dogs, there are so many possible variations and outcomes! Of course, a Bernedoodle puppy will inherit its traits and characteristics from its lineage. The traditional Bernese Mountain Dog coat features a solid jet black base color with white and rust or tan markings. The tan and rust markings are usually present above the eyes, on the cheeks, on each side of the chest, on the legs, and under the tail. The white markings are found on the muzzle, between the eyes, on the chest, neck, and paws. Bernese Mountain Dog Poodle Colors Poodles, on the other hand, most commonly come in a variety of solid colors, such as black, blue, gray, silver, brown, red, apricot, cream, cafe au lait, silver beige, and white. In addition to that, Poodles can also come with different color combinations like black and brown, black and tan, black and apricot, black and cream, brown and apricot, brown and white, and other combinations of the more common solid colors. As you might guess, black and white Bernedoodles have a black solid dominant color and white markings on the face, neck, and chest. Merle Bernedoodle One of the rarest, but most beautiful Bernedoodle colors is the merle pattern. Merle Bernedoodles have a solid base color with speckled patches of diluted colors throughout the coat. The merle coat gene is not as common in either Poodles or Bernese Mountain Dogs, but it can be passed onto the Bernedoodles when one of the parents is carrying the merle gene. A higher chance of achieving a merle Bernedoodle pup is by crossing a Poodle with a merle Bernedoodle. However, ethical breeders will never cross two merle Bernedoodles, as this increases the risk of serious health issues like blindness and deafness. Red and White Bernedoodle Red and white Bernedoodle is another rare color combination that features a mixture of reds and whites. The more traditional red and white Bernedoodle color has a solid red base on most of the body, while the chest, face, paws, and legs have white hair. Additionally, there are parti red and white Bernedoodles, where the base color is white throughout the body. In contrast, the red markings are found on the face, ears, and sometimes on the back as well. Black Bernedoodle A solid black Bernedoodle is more of a rare find compared to the black and white Bernedoodle and tri-color Bernedoodles. If the goal is to achieve a black Bernedoodle, both parent pups should carry the same recessive gene. The Bernedoodle tri-color pattern features three different colors on the coat. There can be various tri-color patterns with colors like black, brown, tan, rust, apricot, red, white, and cream. The dominant base color is usually darker and white markings are found on the face, chest, feet, and paws. Sable Bernedoodle Another popular choice is the sable Bernedoodle color. Sable Bernedoodles have a solid base color, but the hairs have black tips. Of course, the overall look depends on how much of the hair lengths are colored black from the ends. Phantom Bernedoodle Phantom Bernedoodles are somewhat similar to tri-colored Bernedoodles, but they have less white markings and more brown hues in their coats. The most common phantom combination is black and tan. These pups usually have dominant black color all across the body with tan markings on the face, chest, legs, and paws. This is again a more rare Bernedoodle color out there, but it sure does look beautiful! Chocolate Bernedoodle Chocolate Bernedoodles can come in a variety of patterns. Rare Bernedoodle Colors Of course, in addition to all of the Bernedoodle colors and color combinations we listed above, there are countless other colors and patterns that the puppies can come in. Many of them surprising even the breeders. It all comes down to their genetics and which dominant and recessive genes are present. Additionally, keep in mind that not all puppies in the same litter inherit the same coat colors. As with any Doodle, combining two different breeds gives us endless possibilities. Like many other Doodles, Bernedoodles often carry the fading gene , which is usually inherited from the Poodle side of their lineage. This typically occurs anywhere from 6 to 10 months of age. The fading, also called clearing, is most noticeable in darker colored Bernedoodles who have blacks and browns in their coat. Black Bernedoodles with the fading gene often change into silver, gray, or bluish tones. Chocolate or brown Bernedoodles can turn silver, cream, or silver beige over time. However, merle Bernedoodles might be at a slightly higher risk of certain health problems, such as deafness or blindness. To be fair, it all comes down to your preferences and which colors you like. However, we do recommend you choose your new family member based on their health and temperament, not for their looks only. Black Bernedoodles can fade into gray or silver tones, and chocolate Bernedoodles might fade into silver, silver beige, and beige tones. The only way to accurately predict the color of your puppy is by DNA testing, which you can arrange at an additional cost with your breeder. The rarest variations are bi-color black and white Bernedoodle, sable, phantom, and merle patterns, solid black, and solid white. In conclusion, choosing the color of your Bernedoodle puppy is one of the more difficult decisions that you face. They all look beautiful in their own way, but one thing is for sure — all Bernedoodles have amazing personalities, regardless of their coat color. We hope this guide has given you a good idea about all the different Bernedoodle colors and patterns that are available out there. What is your favorite Bernedoodle color? Opt for dog food formulas that are made with real, high quality ingredients, and contain a good amount of fatty acids from sources like salmon and omega.Additionally, if your Bernie is struggling with a food sensitivity or allergy, you might want to switch out the main protein source in their diet. There are lots of de-shedding or anti-shedding dog shampoos that help remove loose undercoat with minimal fuss. Give your pup lots of love and attention and provide them plenty of opportunities to exercise throughout the day. This is one of the easiest ways to give your pup some added sense of safety and security. Bernedoodles are high maintenance dogs when it comes to grooming. Without a doubt, regularly brushing your Bernedoodle is the best and easiest way to combat shedding and avoid other issues with their coat. One of the most common problems with Doodles, including the Bernedoodle, is that they are prone to matting. This is more prevalent in pups who have inherited the curly coat, as their hair traps in dirt and debris more easily. Additionally, their textured hair tends to become knotted. For this reason, daily brushing is an absolute must. However, even wavy and straight coat Bernedoodles can mat. Mainly because the loose, dead hair can get trapped inside the thick fur. How Much Do Bernedoodles Shed? How much a Bernedoodle sheds mostly depends on their coat type. Interestingly, all Bernedoodles shed, just like you shed some hair every single day. On the other hand, straight coat Bernedoodles might shed all year round, but most during the summer and winter months, when their coat transitions from one season to another. Genetics can truly be a grab bag! Are Bernedoodles Always Curly? Bernedoodles can have curly hair, straight hair, or even an in-between, wavy coat! That being said, breeders often strive to produce as many curly haired puppies as possible. This is because curly-haired Bernedoodles are more likely to shed less and be allergy-friendly. This preference by breeders explains why you see many more curly Bernedoodles than those with flat coats. Straight hair is one of the traits a Bernedoodle puppy can inherit from their Bernese Mountain Dog lineage. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with flat coat Bernedoodles, puppies with curly coats tend to be more popular. Many people want the appearance and personality traits of a Bernese Mountain Dog with the allergy-friendly coat of the Poodle. As such, breeders typically strive for their puppies to inherit a curly coat. Reputable breeders will perform extensive genetic testing and familiarize themselves with the lineage of the parents to give them the best chance at this. However, there are different generations to choose from which can increase or decrease your odds of having a flat coat Bernedoodle. Photo courtesy of superdogmoose on Instagram. Check out this article that explains everything you need to know about Bernedoodle generations! What you should know for now is that the more Bernese Mountain Dog DNA your puppy has, the more likely they are to have straight hair. This is extremely uncommon, however. Are Straight Hair Bernedoodles Hypoallergenic? While no Bernedoodles are guaranteed to be completely hypoallergenic , straight haired Bernedoodles are far more likely to bother allergy sufferers than their curly haired counterparts. As you can see in the table we discussed earlier, these generations have the lowest theoretical percentage of Bernese Mountain Dog DNA. While this shedding might not be as bad as a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog, it will probably still be a significant amount. Chris Christensen Big G Slicker Brush : Brushing your dog regularly can help prevent hair from getting all over your house. This brush is the top of its class. When two different dog breeds are combined in the F1, F1b and F2b generations, the puppies can end up with a variety of different coat types. Listed below are the most common different coat types and colors. The tri color is the classic black, brown and white color that resembles the Bernese side. This is the classic party tri colored coat type. The party tri color is characterized by having more white coloring than the black coloring. The brown color is still present. Here is the classic curly coat type with the phantom coloring. The phantom coloring is marked by the bi color combination of black and brown. The curly coat type is the best coat type for those with allergies. This is the tri color left and phantom color right with the short or smooth coat type. This is also sometimes referred to as the unfurnished look or the reverse doodle coat. This coat type resembles the Bernese parent and requires less maintenance than the other common coat types. Grooming is minimal and it is a wash and wear type coat. If you are looking for a Bernese with less shedding this may be the coat type for you. It comes in a variety of different colors. This coat type typically does not fade as some of the other colors may. This is the classic bi color gold and white coloring. Post category: Blog Posts There is so much confusion regarding the generations of Bernedoodles. I often have customers requesting a specific generation for no real reason other than they felt that is the generation that they want based on reading information that is not well researched. Instead, I ask them to refocus on the coat type, color, and size that they are looking for. There is no reason to focus on a specific generation if you are simply looking for a healthy and attractive pet. I have been breeding Bernedoodles for about 6 years and I have noticed no difference at all in the health of any different generation of Bernedoodle. There is no evidence that a specific generation of the Bernedoodle will affect the health of the puppy. Any of our Bernedoodles regardless of generation has been bred for the three things we focus on: temperament, beauty, and health. Of course, mother nature is a brutal force and things can go wrong even with the best planning but I can count on one hand how many major health issues I have had as a breeder. It is a combination of both an art and a science and we employ both tactics to reduce risk when we can. Genetic screening in combination with pedigree matching is the method we use to produce healthy puppies. Since the Bernedoodle is a breed in development there is not a lot of long term data regarding the longevity but based on what we know about the Bernese Mountain Dog, Poodles, and overall longevity based on size, it will likely be that a smaller sized Bernedoodle will live longer than a larger Bernedoodle. One more thing I will mention- Bernedoodle Generation and Allergy friendliness are not really correlated. A person can be allergic to either saliva or dander and if you are allergic to saliva you will be allergic to any and all Bernedoodles, Poodles, etc. If you are allergic to dander a Bernedoodle with the appropriate coat type will likely work for you. Before reading through the following description of coat types, I will say most Bernedoodle coats other than the Bernese Coat we have experience with have very little to no shedding. That being said we have almost never seen a curly-coated Bernedoodle shed. Bernedoodle coat types: There are four main coat types that a Bernedoodle can have: Straight: This is a coat type only achieved in Bernedoodle-to-Bernese or Bernedoodle-to-Bernedoodle breedings. While these dogs have a fluffy look, still they have the least amount of curl to their hair compared to the other coat types. Visually, they have a loose wave. We see this coat type very often in our Ultra Bernedoodles. Wavy: This is the traditional coat type of most F1 Bernedoodles that is not super curly but also not straight either. Wavy-coated dogs require brushing and grooming on a regular basis. Curly: This is the coat type that is most similar to that of a purebred poodle. These dogs rarely shed and often are the most suitable for those worried about loose hair. Curly coated dogs are the highest maintenance of all of the traditional Bernedoodle coats and will require more frequent bathing and grooming. Bernese Coat: This coat type is a throwback to the purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and often times exhibits the same level of shedding as well. This coat type appeals to people that are interested in health benefits and possibly decreased size of a Bernedoodle but do not want the maintenance of a doodle coat. Do Bernedoodles Shed? Bernedoodles are known for being a low-shed to no-shed breed. Their minimal shedding makes them a very allergy-friendly breed. Bernedoodle Coat Types Bernedoodle coats can vary in thickness, consistency, and color. In an F1 first generation breeding, you might get a puppy with a coat that looks more similar to a Poodle and get another puppy with a coat just like a Bernese. As a breeder begins to breed this first generation of Bernedoodles with other Bernedoodles, they are able to achieve more consistency and predictable traits shed level, color, size. Their coats can have a various range of colors as well. Some might be black and white while others may be black and brown or even solid black. This coat most resembles the coat of the Bernese. Some may even have a few other colors thrown in here and there. Generally, when an individual is looking to buy a Bernedoodle, the type of coat takes precedence over the coat color. Thicker hair will help them survive cold winters better while also giving them protection from the heat of summer. This is also something aspiring Bernedoodle owners consider when choosing a puppy. Bernedoodles usually come in one of three coat types: straight, wavy and curly. This coat is very free-flowing and often has a kinked or wavy appearance. The curls on this coat are usually tight with a soft texture much like what you would see on a Poodle. Curly coats may still shed, but they shed the hair upon themselves rather than on your floor. Unfortunately, this shedding upon themselves is what makes it necessary for them to be brushed daily and trimmed frequently. The curly coat Bernedoodle is usually the most suitable for owners who have an allergy to dog dander. This usually amounts to times per week. They also need to be professionally groomed every weeks to keep their paws, eyes, and private areas maintained. What About Allergies? Are They Hypoallergenic? No dog is truly non-allergenic. In the case of Bernedoodles, they are allergy-friendly because of their single coat. While all coats types are considered to be allergy-friendly, the curly coat is considered to be ideal for severe allergy sufferers. The reason is that, as stated above, no dog is non-allergenic, and the reason for this is that there is no dog that does not produce an allergic response of some kind. This is what makes allergic people miserable. Every breed of dog carries a different amount of these allergy-provoking proteins. The seborrheic level is the level of oil the dog produces. Certain oily-haired dogs, such as Labrador Retrievers, carry a large amount of these proteins. The less amount of oil a dog has in its skin, the less dander it will produce. Since the poodles are one of the least oily breeds of dog, Doodles and other dogs created by using Poodles are going to be more hypoallergenic and have fewer body odors. Therefore, Bernedoodles are more allergy-friendly. Most dogs have two coats: an undercoat and an overcoat. The undercoat, which is a softer coat, acts as an insulation to keep the dog warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The overcoat, a slightly more course topcoat, has stiff hairs that shield it from dirt or debris and repel water and moisture. Bernedoodles do not have the two coats. Bernedoodle puppies should be brushed regularly regardless of the coat type, although, curly coats will require brushing a little more frequently. When the Bernedoodle gets about nine months of age, he will start losing the coat a little by little. Related Questions Do Bernedoodles need to be brushed often? Because Bernedoodles shed so little, they should be brushed regularly, but the frequency of brushing can be determined on the type of coat. Curly coats will need to be brushed on an almost daily basis while straight coats can get by with being brushed only a couple of times a week. Do Bernedoodles mat easily like the other Doodle dogs? Bernedoodles do have a tendency to become matted if they are not brushed regularly. This is particularly true with Bernedoodles who have the curly coat. The curlier the coat, the more likely it is to become matted if not brushed. Can coat type be determined through breeding? Coat type absolutely can be determined through breeding. If the breeder is experienced, he or she can determine exactly what kind of a coat the litter will have based on which sire and dam are being used for the breeding and past genetics. This is where F1, F2, F3, and multigenerational breeding comes in handy. Conclusion With so many wonderful dogs out there, one would often wonder why aspiring dog owners would choose a mixed breed dog like the Bernedoodle. Related Posts:.

But, unfortunately, there are so many organisations only in it for the money, charging exorbitant prices and neglecting the health and wellbeing of their puppies and dogs. One of the most obvious signs of an unethical breeder is the poor or neglectful treatment of their puppies and breeding dogs. An ethical labradoodle breeder in Australia will; Strive to find the right home for their puppies. Instead, they go above and beyond to make sure they find the perfect home for each puppy. Usually, the search involves asking potential buyers a range of questions about their home and lifestyle, so they can pair families with a puppy that has a temperament right for them. Provide the highest quality care and living conditions. Ethical breeders ensure that both the puppies and breeding dogs have premium quality care, including comprehensive health checks, socialisation, and training. Rehome adult dogs. Once the female is retired, she is de-sexed and either adopted by our internal staff or a loving family. Never separate the puppies early. Puppies Downunder waits until the puppy is ten weeks old before we allow them to join their new family. Meet and exceed all the necessary requirements. We comply with all codes and requirements set by the Domestic Animal Act, actively assist with inspections of our facilities, and have received approval from the Chief Veterinary Officer of Victoria to operate as a Commercial Breeder and the Minister for Agriculture. The breeder should be asking plenty of questions. A puppy is a long-term commitment, so ethical breeders ask plenty of questions to make sure the buyer is the right fit for the puppy. Here are a few examples of questions you can expect to hear; How much space do you have? Will you be home often? How often will you exercise the dog? Do you have kids? Do you have other animals? Where will the puppy sleep? They should encourage you to visit the breeding facility. When looking for Australian labradoodle puppies for sale, you need to make sure the breeder will allow you to inspect the facility and meet the parents. You can also ensure the dogs and puppies are raised in clean, high-quality conditions by visiting the facility. The Puppies Downunder team understands that not everyone can come and visit our facility, so we have plenty of photos of both the breeding facility, puppies, and dogs online. The breeder should try and find out the address the puppy will be living, the details of the new veterinarian, and any other relevant information needed to ensure the puppy is being well looked after. Your breeder should have organised the first two vaccinations, microchipping and worming and parasite prevention, before going home with their new family. At Puppies Downunder, we go above and beyond, providing a complete medical history. We also provide you with information about their individual dietary requirements, socialisation, registration, medications, and required vaccinations. An excellent ethical breeder should be vetting potential buyers to find the right family for that specific puppy. Is the puppy cheeky? How much exercise does the dog need? Unfortunately, a lot of unethical breeders will understate or flat out lie when telling buyers how much exercise their new puppy will need. For example, people looking for a labradoodle for sale in Australia might be told they have a moderate activity level, which is accurate. However, they may be given the same advice for bordoodle, which is wildly inaccurate for this high-energy, restless dog. Can you provide references? The breeder should be able to provide you with references from a veterinarian and previous customers. We offer lifelong support. At Puppies Downunder, we continue to provide support for our customers throughout the lifetime of their puppy. Do they offer a guarantee? At Puppies Downunder, we provide a health guarantee for the first 21 days of sale. Do they provide the essentials to give the puppy the best start to life? Dogs are our passion, and we dedicate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to their care. In fact, we have the highest ethical standards of any dog breeder globally. We absolutely adore mini labradoodles, and we take advantage of any opportunity to share our love of them with others. What Is A Mini Labradoodle? Their beautiful, calm temperament and high intelligence make mini labradoodles ideal candidates for therapy pets and service dogs for individuals with autism, PTSD, diabetes, and other disabilities. How big do they grow? A mini labradoodle will typically grow to cm in height and around kg in weight, so they stay relatively small. From elderly couples to families with small children, the mini labradoodle will fit right in. Do mini labradoodles shed? That all depends on their coat. If a mini labradoodle has a wool coat, the tight curls will catch any dander, fur, and dirt, thereby minimising shedding and reducing allergies. However, wool coats are high-maintenance and require brushing every day. It all depends on the type of coat your mini labradoodle has. Fleece and hair coats are very low maintenance, but wool coats are pretty high-maintenance. They have a pretty moderate level of activity, and they enjoy minutes of exercise per day as well as playtime and mental enrichment. Are there any health concerns we should keep an eye out for? Mini labradoodles are a crossbreed, so they have very diverse genetics making them less likely to develop genetic diseases. They may also develop hip or elbow dysplasia if over-exercised or overfed. Labradoodles have adorable long ears, but this means they are prone to dirty ears and ear infections, do their ears need to be checked regularly. From birth to 8 weeks, puppies benefit from valuable socialisation time with their siblings and mother. However, not crate training your puppy may be doing more harm than good. We suggest introducing your puppy to their crate throughout their first day, enticing them with treats and making sure they associate the space with positivity. Open the crate door throughout the day, so your puppy can retreat to their safe space whenever they feel the need. Make sure your puppy has a separate area to go to the bathroom at night. Puppies Downunder are an ethical mini labradoodle breeder, and we take great pride in our high-quality breeding facilities and our commitment to providing a safe, comfortable home for our dogs. They have incredibly high intelligence and need to be kept mentally stimulated; otherwise, they can become bored, stubborn, and destructive. Dogs with high intelligence love a challenge, and they love working for their food. You can either purchase puzzle or interactive feeders such as snuffle mats or Kong toys, or you can create your own DIY slow feeder bowl. We suggest having a few different puzzles in varying difficulty levels, so your puppy is always mentally stimulated at dinner time. The labrador retriever in your labradoodle will have an instinct to retrieve, and the poodle side will have an instinct to hunt, so try to incorporate these traits into games. Silicone licking mats are a fantastic way to keep your dog entertained. Smear some peanut butter, wet food, or baby food on the mat and pop it into the freezer. Once frozen, get it out and give it to your puppy to lick for a refreshing summer treat. You can buy or make plenty of toys that encourage your puppy to solve a problem before receiving treats as a reward. For example, grab a muffin tray, some treats, and some tennis balls. Put treats in a couple of the openings and block them all with tennis balls. Your dog will need to snuffle and work out which balls have treats underneath. Cut a slot in the bottle and fill it with food or treats, and let your dog bat it around to get the treats out. Dogs who are allowed to sniff and explore on their walk are far more stimulated than dogs that just walk. Dogs are our passion, and we dedicate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to their care. Labradoodle Puppy. We focus on breeding miniature to medium sized labradoodle puppies. Health and temperament are the main priorities in our breeding programme, with all lines having been DNA tested for inherited disorders and screened for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia followed closely by the easy care and low maintenance fleece or loose wool coat types. We mostly have puppy's in chocolate, cafe and lavender though don't despair if these are not your preferred colours, as we sometimes have parti, phantom, tricolour, caramel, creme caramel, parchment, cream, black and gold. More information on coat types and colours is available on the important stuff page. Breeding and Puppy Environment We are not a kennel. Only one dog resides with us - Neo Tallai Trilogy who has taken over the reins from our long cherished Mickey the chocolate dog in the photo on the set of "The Shak" at 9's studio in Brisbane, QLD. Our current and potential breeding dogs are all family pets living with selected guardian families located in South East Qld or Northern NSW they are placed with their family from 8 weeks of age and remain with them after retirement. All puppies are raised by us with the assistance of our two teenage children. We strongly believe it is important that puppies are raised in an environment where they are exposed from day one to the sights, smells and sounds of busy family life, as this is the life that they will enter when they leave our care for yours. All of our dogs need to prove themselves first and foremost as valued and loveable members of our guardian families, then secondly pass the Australian Labradoodle Association of Australia's mandatory health testing before we will consider breeding from them. We typically have 2 litters from our girls preferably with different sire lines. Occasionally a very special girl might have three litters. We welcome feedback and are only to happy to promote the Australian Labradoodle. Regards - Carla. We rescued this bunch from a shelter, and we think they might be a couple of imposters in the litter. Whatever the case, the puppies are wonderful and as cute as they come. We're not exactly sure of the breed mixes in the pups, but we see lab, shepherd, retriever and you name it. They are well socialized with people and other dogs, and are ready for their forever homes. NOTE: We're only guessing the breed mixes in these puppies, there are no guarantees! He is a beautiful mix of shepherd, Rhodesian Ridgeback and perhaps even some boxer in him. He is so intelligent, affectionate and eager to please. Copper is a willing learner and needs his own family so he can shine. He is a shepherd mix that loves people. He was the first of his litter to make eye contact and easily became a favorite among the human visitors. He looks up at you with those soulful eyes and you are putty in his paws. His gentle, loving, confident personality is so endearing. He has the most beautiful coloring and will probably be the size of a Retriever when grown. He is always up for a good romp but then it's nap time and nothing stops him from taking a good snooze. Jeremy is well socialized and loves to be part of your every day life. He watches and learns quickly. He has a kicked back attitude and has no tendencies to be anxious or worried. Jesse has the best attributes of both the Retriever and Shepherd. He's an awesome, handsome boy that gets along very well with his littermates and the older dogs in his household. She aims to please and give you the most adoring look when she is with her human companion. Skittles is a confident, stable, and lovable puppy. Skittles is on the athletic side. She may be a Dutch Shepherd and Labrador mix probably in the middle weight range of pounds full grown. She is 10 weeks old, even-tempered, easy to please, happy puppy. She is well socialized and loves her littermates as well as humans. She enjoys the neighbor children that come over to play with her. She always has the biggest smile on her face when she is playing with them. She may be mixed with German Shepherd and Rhodesian Ridgeback. She has so much to give a family whether they have children or just an individual. Dana possesses so many endearing qualities. She looks to have Golden and Labrador Retriever in her. Her back and tail hair is becoming very wavy and so cute. She is starting to get some black hair weaved amongst the blond hair. As with her siblings, she loves people. She is affectionate, playful and a quick learner. Greta Female 2. Have you ever dreamed of a White German Shepherd???? Animal Control Officers said she was protecting the old dog who was sick. Greta was in the shelter for over two months until she caught the eye of Golden State German Shepherd Rescue. We went in to pick up another pup and decided to evaluate this beautiful girl and she did great on her evaluation. She even temp tested well with kitties so we think with proper introduction and supervision, she will be able to co-habitate with felines. Every time her foster mom opens the car door, Greta is ready to go! And she loves to go on long walks. During her stay at the shelter, they would take her out on her doggy day and she would walk over two miles!!! Greta is extremely comfortable with people of all ages. She is particulary fond of young kids as she watched her foster mom's young son and nephew very attentively while they were on the trampoline. Greta never left their side nor took her eye off them. We don't know why Greta wasn't snatched up while she was in the shelter. She is a lovely girl with extraordinary charm and personality. More Added November 10, .The Golden Shepherd tends to be a friendly, energetic, and affectionate dog that is loyal to their family and tends to be protective of them. Although they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, they are recognized by other notable organizations like the American Canine Hybrid Club, Designer Breed Registry, and more. A Golden Shepherd tends to bring the all-around friendly personality of the Golden Retriever and the intelligence and devotion of the German Shepherd into one dog. They love their families and tend to get along with everyone including children. These dogs are not necessarily suspicious of strangers, but they are alert and will tend to bark if they see something they feel you need to know about. Golden Shepherds are moderately adaptable dogs. Because they are high-energy, they tend to do better in homes with yards where they can run. They can adapt to apartment living as long as plenty of time is dedicated to giving them the daily exercise they need. They tend to do well in most climates. But, as with any dog breed, they are sensitive to heat. Because Golden Shepherds are devoted to their families and thrive on spending time with them, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. A mixed-breed dog can inherit the potential health issues common to one, both, or neither of their parent breeds. As a larger, barrel-chested dog breed, the Golden Shepherd, like their parent breeds, is also at a higher risk for bloat. The Golden Shepherd is a highly trainable dog breed. They are intelligent, eager to please, and pick up on things quickly. This makes them a good fit for owners of all experience levels. Puppy training classes can still be a great idea because they offer opportunities to socialize a puppy while also strengthening your bond with them. The Golden Shepherd will have a thick double-coat that sheds moderately year-round and more heavily twice a year as seasons change. A quick daily brushing, especially during seasonal shedding sessions, will help remove loose fur to make your dog more comfortable and also help keep more fur contained to a brush instead of everywhere else. Bathing is on an occasional, as-needed basis. Monthly nail trims are usually enough to keep nails from growing too long or causing issues. Plus, if anything is starting to happen, you can get the vet before it gets more serious. Because many dog owners overlook this, gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. Brushing teeth or using an enzyme toothpaste every day is ideal. The Golden Shepherd comes from two high-energy dogs, so they require a lot of daily exercise to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime and time to run are the minimum. But, a Golden Shepherd will likely be up for more activity if you are. A trip to the dog park for some off-leash time, playing frisbee or chasing a ball, hiking, swimming, running, and more can all help this dog expend some extra energy. You want to keep their activity low-impact as they are still growing, but once they finish growing, try different activities to see what you both love doing together. You could even try training them for dog sports! A fully-grown Golden Shepherd usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. A Golden Shepherd generally lives for years. Seniors — Aging Gals and Older Gents — 8 years onwards Newly Born — Fresh out the packet — 1 to 3 weeks The newly born Goldendoodle, just like all dogs, arrives with his eyes still shut, no teeth, and very limited hearing. Mama dog is their world at this time, and she takes care of feeding, cleaning, and keeping her brood in check. Newborn Goldendoodle Puppies at weeks Growing Fast — Eyes open, tails wagging — 3 to 7 weeks In this window, the Goldendoodle grows and develops rapidly. Eyes open, hearing develops, and they start to move around. Social skills start to develop with puppies expressing signs of rivalry and development of a bit of a pecking order among their brothers and sisters. Some bossier pups may grow even faster at this stage by bustling others out the way for milk! Eyes Open. At this age, they will be small and still getting to grips with things like moving around think plenty of puppy tumbles and understanding the world around them without the reassurance of their parent and siblings. Coat wise they will be beyond floof! The Goldendoodle puppy coat will be different from their adult coat and is generally a lot softer and thinner. You might get some indication of just how curly they will be if they already have a clear wavy pattern, but some can appear straight coated in puppyhood only to go on and develop glorious curls in adulthood. Time to come home. Guess what your little Goldendoodle is supercharging their development towards it circa 3 months in. They are getting bolshy, and they are teething. This means all manner of things looks good for nibbling. Whether it be a chew toy, your best furniture, or your own body parts, it can be easy to question if you bought a dog or a land shark. The good news is this too shall pass! In terms of size, your Goldendoodle will have more than doubled in size at 4 months from the little 8-week-old puppy you brought home. This should settle as their new coarser adult coat comes in. Only now will you see exactly just how curly or not your little Goldendoodle will be. Your Medium or Standard Goldendoodle will still be growing like a weed. Just like human teenagers, hormonal changes as they approach sexual maturity can send them a little bit, well…. Your obedient little pup may become stubborn overnight, or your confident little buddy becomes scared of his own shadow. Perseverance with training and plenty of patience is key. Your Goldendoodle will also have had all their visits from the doggy tooth fairy and would be expected to have gained a full set of adult gnashers by around 6 to 8 months. Teenage Tantrums All Grown Up — Adults — 18 months — 8 years Even the biggest Standard Goldendoodles will be fully grown by around 18 months to 2 years. Expect to see a leveling off in puppy energy levels which will be replaced with the stamina expected of this breed. Fully developed bones mean you Goldendoodle can begin the more adventurous pursuits such as hiking, running, and swimming for longer durations. As their growth levels out, it is important to keep an eye on feeding routines to avoid ending up with a chunky monkey which can play havoc on their joints. As an adult, it is important to maintain a regular brushing routine and grooming schedule to keep their coat in tip-top condition. All grown up! Seniors — Aging Gals and Older Gents — 8 years onwards Personally, I have a major soft spot for senior dogs and the senior Goldendoodle is no exception. This breed is known to retain their playful and loving demeanor well into their senior years meaning even though they may begin to slow down a bit after 8 years old, they will still be as loyal as ever. In later life, many Goldendoodles will experience a change in their coat coloring. It is natural for older dogs to have some thinning of their coat meaning your Goldendoodle may not appear just as fluffy as they once were. They may not run for as long, but the silver lining is plenty of extra couch snuggling opportunities. After all it is only right that the senior Goldendoodle gets suitably pampered in their twilight years for all the joy they have undoubtedly given to their humans over their lifetime. If only there was a way, they could live forever instead of 12 to 15 years! Senior Citizen.

In , our little Jack Russell Lucy passed away and we were longing for another dog. We had a wish list of sorts that we had in mind for our next dog: great temperament and personality low to no shed bigger breed During our search, we came across the labradoodle breed which fit the description perfectly. But it couldn't be that easy.We wanted a unique phantom colored labradoodle. Until now, finding any quality multi-generational labradoodle puppy in Hawaii was impossible. In , we searched diligently and came across a breeder in New Zealand, Willowbrook Farm, who had just had a litter of phantom colored labradoodles. We worked closely with the breeder and finally chose to make Maya part of our family. We were updated weekly with her progress, provided pictures of her during the entire process and enjoyed a very friendly dialog with the breeders. We anxiously awaited her arrival until she finally made her big voyage at 12 weeks old. We instantly fell in love with her. She is so kind, loving, smart, and obedient. Just a beautiful dog. She loves to watch animal planet, enjoys her tummy rubs, car rides, and loves to snuggle. Maya had three gorgeous litters and is now retired from our breeding program. Maya Cruise In , we decided to add the most gorgeous breeding stud into our breeding program. He is a 9 yr old multi-generational labradoodle that we imported from New Zealand. His name is Cruise and he has sired several amazing litters. We are committed to providing Hawaii with excellent multigenerational labradoodles. There are many "breeders" out there just breeding to breed and are not considering their responsibility in providing healthy and quality puppies for you to enjoy and add to your family. Also, do your research on what a F1 or F1B labradoodle is. F1's tend to have a totally different look and will shed. The F1B generally pull towards the poodle side with longer noses and tighter curls. We are conscientious about filling a need for the labradoodle community without adding to the pet over population problem. We want committed families so we know that our pups would never end up in a shelter. If you are interested in being placed on the wait list for the next litter, please fill out a puppy application. They were originally developed as a refined pet of Chinese royalty along with the Pekingese and the Shih Tzu. During this time, the Pug was considered a national treasure that outsiders could only access if one was gifted to them. Dutch traders from the s can be credited with bringing the Pug onto the world stage when they brought some back to Europe with them. The Pug made its way to the United States in the s. Now, the Pug is a popular dog breed worldwide. They are a popular companion that provides their owners with plenty of love and laughter from their comedic and playful antics. The Pug is a playful and outgoing dog breed with a charming personality. They tend to be very loving towards children and also get along well with other pets and dogs. They are a companion breed at heart known for their gentle nature and sociable personality. They love to give love and receive it in return. Their sensitive nature makes them intuitive as well and Pugs will often sense the moods of their owners and react accordingly. They crave attention and affection from their owners and are big fans of napping. This dog breed is often described as an ideal house dog and they are moderately adaptable. They will do well in homes of any size, including apartments. The Pug also adapts well to city or country life and are a good fit for singles or families of any size. Although they are highly adaptable to various living situations, they are less adaptable to climates. Pugs are very sensitive to the heat and overexertion, so they are best-suited to moderate climates. They also love to be with their families and will not be happy if left alone for a long time. As with any dog breed, the Pug has some health conditions to be aware of. In particular, corneal ulcers and dry eye are some potential eye problems that can occur. Additionally, Pugs can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and encephalitis. Asking the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and to see health clearances can help allay concerns for some of these health issues. Pugs are also big foodies. They love to eat! Their love for food means this dog breed is prone to obesity. As a brachycephalic dog, their large head and short snout often cause respiratory problems, which can limit their exercise at times and contribute to weight gain. This will cause them to quickly gasp and snort, which can sound relatively alarming. These episodes are usually not harmful as your Pug is just clearing their palate and throat. The Pug tends to be easy to train and is a good fit for owners of any experience level. They are eager to please their owners and tend to pick up on commands quickly. They are sensitive souls and their feelings can be hurt easily, so they will not respond well to harsh corrections. This dog breed responds best to consistent training that focuses on positive rewards and will benefit from participation in puppy training classes. Pugs have a smooth, glossy, and short coat. Their fur is fine and soft. Although their coat is generally low-maintenance, it will shed throughout the year. Aside from brushing, Pugs only need occasional baths on an as-needed basis. Because Pugs have ears that drop down, they can be susceptible to moisture, dirt, or debris. Checking their ears regularly and cleaning as needed helps to keep them healthy and comfortable. The same goes for their iconic face wrinkles. Daily brushing is ideal, but if your Pug is not allowing you to do that, a few times a week should be sufficient. Getting your Pug used to these grooming tasks as a puppy will help make it a positive bonding experience and a much easier process throughout their life. This dog breed has a low to moderate energy level. Generally, daily walks and some play sessions are enough exercise for this dog breed. They may have short bursts of energy as they have a very playful nature, but they will tire easily. Some Pugs can handle a little more activity and even compete in some dogs sports like agility, rally, and obedience. Make sure you check with your vet first before jumping into dog sports with your dog. A full-grown Pug will usually stand 10 to 11 inches tall at the shoulders and weigh between 14 and 18 pounds. Best regards, From there we began showing dairy goats, angora goats, and pygmy goats in 4-H, FFA, and open shows from .When my son went off to college, we decided to sell off our dairy goat herd and focus on our Pug Breeding Program. Once we were able to focus on our Pug Breeding Program more we began to search for pugs of unique colors that we didn't already own. In I quit my job, and started breeding pugs full time. My new job title is a "Stay at Home Pug Mommy". Instead we retire them and they live out the remainder of their lives here at Tipping Point Farm, playing, eating, sleeping day after day, and spending time with our family. After all, Pugs are the ultimate companion and mans best friend. They will always be there for you no matter what, whether they are trying to cheer you up, steel your food, or give you kisses. With such a large demand for our pugs, I have now brought in my mom's dogs to be a part of my breeding program, so everyone is able to have their own Tipping Point Farm Pug. My Mom owns a farm thirty minutes away from me where she lives and raises her own pugs with help from me. On February 11th, , my first pug, "Cheese", the one who started it all passed away suddenly. The whole family was devastated after learning of her passing and spending so many years with such a great dog. I was heart broken, I lost my best friend. This one dog was the reason behind my whole pug breeding program. I loved this dog so much that I wanted to breed pugs so everyone could have "their own Cheese". After all, Pug love is like no other, you are their world and they become a family member. Even though Cheese is no longer here with us, I know that I am lucky enough to have got to spend so many years with her and have her daughters, grand daughters, and great grand daughters. When it comes to our pugs, Health is our 1 priority and then of course color! From day one, we are directly involved with our puppies, we help them come into the world and love them everyday till they go to there new family. Please feel free to call or email me anytime you have a question or are interested in a pug. Thank you for taking the time to read the Story behind our farm. We are looking forward to hearing from you and your family and to adding a new member to your family. I apologize for this and will be back to keeping up with my website for .As soon as we learned of the diagnosis, we made arrangements to meet with the surgeon. Unfortunately after the scans were taken, a spot was found on his liver which gave him a terminal diagnosis 2 months without chemo, 6 months with chemo. In March of he opted to start a chemo regiment every 3 weeks to hopefully extend his life expectancy. During the next few months him and I created a bucket list of things he wanted to do, which we were able to complete in between his visits to the hospital and chemo treatments. In August his cancer was reassessed to see if the chemo treatments had been working. The results were heartbreaking, the chemo hadn't worked and his body was full of cancer. Within a month of this heart breaking news my fathers health deteriorated, he was back and forth between hospice and the emergency room until he lost his battle to cancer on September 22, .My fathers loss has been extremely difficult, but I am now able to start focusing on my breeding program once again. As of right now we have big plans for .For more information about our plans, please contact me with any inquiries regarding current and future puppies or keep checking back for updates. They are an ancient dog breed that originated in China over 2, years ago. This dog breed generally lives for years. The Pug was a popular pet of the Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. Featured Pug Article.
