As one of the most energetic breeds, your Silver Lab puppy will always be down for exercise, play, swimming or any other outdoor activity. Playful and excitable, be prepared to remove any knick-knacks from coffee tables or end tables — this breed is notorious for knocking these over with an almost constantly wagging tail! Widely considered the sweetest tempered dog breed, your Silver Lab puppy will light up every time you walk in the room — greeting you with kisses and affection when you come home after a long day at work. Highly intelligent, these dogs can easily be trained to respond to a variety of commands — and their alert nature makes them natural guard dogs. As one of the most lovable dog breeds, your Silver Lab puppy is sure to get along with everyone — from other dogs to small children and the elderly — making the breed a perfect fit for almost anyone who has the stamina to keep up with it! Many of these conditions affect dogs in later life, though some can occur during adolescents and early adulthood. To learn more about our commitment to ethical breeding practices , read about the Keystone Puppies Health Guarantee! This hunting breed has a water-resistant or water-repellent coat that is slightly dry and oily. Unlike many short-haired breeds, Labs are outdoor dogs. They are usually able to keep warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Silver Labrador Retrievers have short, straight coats that shed seasonally. They have a double coat — with thick, dense hair — which helps keep them warm during winter months. Their heavy coats also offer additional insulation when swimming — a favorite pastime of Labradors, Silver Labs included. With a low-maintenance coat, the Silver Labrador Retriever only needs brushed once or twice a week. Meet Silver Lab Puppies for Sale. All breeds of Labrador Retrievers are known for being kind and gentle — and this trait runs especially strong with the chocolate-colored sweeties. While these dogs are very friendly to strangers, they have even more affection to give to their beloved families. Your Chocolate Lab puppy or adult will be happiest spending time with their favorite people. If you have young children, a lab is a great fit, as this breed is usually quite tolerant of the horseplay of small children who are still learning how to interact with pets. Just like many people, Chocolate Labs enjoy both downtime — especially if it involves being pampered by their family — and active high-energy fun. We recommend daily exercise, which can include anything from fetch, to tag, or even frisbee games. The average Chocolate Lab lifespan is between 9 and 11 years. The most common Chocolate Lab health problem is hip dysplasia, which occurs more commonly in older and overweight dogs. This is just one of the reasons to make exercise a common part of your time with a Chocolate Lab puppy or fully grown adult. Another problem that occurs in overweight labs is joint and movement issues. The other most common Chocolate Lab health problems are: Progressive Retinal Atrophy Cataracts Elbow Dysplasia As is the case with any dog, when you bring home a Chocolate Labrador, make sure that you have a good vet to handle routing vaccinations and check-ups as well as emergency health problems. Learn more about the Keystone Puppies Health Guarantee! Chocolate Lab Coat Care In general, Chocolate Lab coat care is easy compared to many other dog breeds which require weekly or daily work. Labrador Retrievers all have double coats, which includes an under layer of short hairs and a slightly longer top layer. This coat is useful for repelling water and keeping them cool in warmer temperatures — and warm in cooler ones. Their coat is also noted to be slightly dry and oily. Chocolate Lab coat care is fairly minimal and considered low maintenance. The coat should be brushed with a firm bristle brush 2 — 3 times per month to minimize shedding. In addition to that, baths are needed fairly infrequently. What is more crucial is ensuring that their toenails are well cared for throughout the year. Meet Chocolate Lab Puppies for Sale. We have Lab puppies for sale in California that are available throughout the year in different colors, including Silver Labradors , Charcoal Labs and Champagne Labs! Let us know what you are looking for and we will find the right puppy for you! About our Wonderful Labs. The Labrador Retriever loves to retrieve. Show a Lab to water and it will retrieve all day: balls, sticks, small boats and even children who might happen to go for a swim. Descended from dogs found in Newfoundland by explorers, fishermen and settlers, the Labrador Retriever evolved by natural selection. An excellent retriever of fish and game, these dogs have been known by several names, among them the Black Water Dog, the Lesser Newfoundland and the St. John's Dog. In the early s, the breed was introduced to Britain, where it was eventually crossed with other sporting breeds. The final product was the strong, sturdy, happy Labrador Retriever, which is America's most popular dog, thanks to its outgoing, eager-to-please and loving temperament. Males usually measure .Weight for males ranges from 65 to 80 pounds, with females averaging about 10 pounds less. The coat is short, dense and hard in colors of black, yellow, silver, charcoal, chocolate and many shades in the middle such as the white and champagne Lab. The AKC only allows black, chocolate and yellow to place in the show ring but that doesn't stop us from loving the other colors! A simple good brushing will remove dead hair and keep the coat shiny. A distinctive feature of the breed is the medium-long tail. Thick and round at the root and gradually tapering to the tip, it is often described as an otter tail. This tail can clear a coffee table in seconds! The Labrador is easy to train and excels as a field dog as well as obedience trials. Labs enjoy all outdoor exercise but are especially fond of swimming. They say this medium-sized, high-energy dog is best suited to a suburban or country home with a yard and a family that can provide it with the activity it loves--but that said, many city-dwelling Lab owners tell us it is the most wonderful "city" dog they have ever had! City, country or anywhere in between, the Lab is simply the best! Life Span Did You Know? One of the facts about Labrador Retrievers is that they come in many colors. Silver Labrador Retrievers, or Silver Labs, are relatively new compared to the other Lab coat colors. Contrary to their Yellow, Chocolate, and Black Lab cousins, which have recorded sightings from and before, Silver Labs have only cropped up since .There was some heated debate over their authenticity, as many breeders believed the silver tint appeared from outside the breed. A diluting factor in coat color dominance traits is responsible for the silver hue — something that is also present in Charcoal and Champagne Labs as well. At any rate, Silver Labrador Retrievers are regal, loyal, and friendly Labradors that have a lot of energy and a lot of love to give! Silver Labs are curious and playful dogs. Their curiosity will often get the better of them and they may wander off in search of adventure if they are off-leash. Labrador Retrievers are known for their gentle, friendly dispositions and good natures. Well-socialized Labs tend to get along with children, other dogs, and even other pets and strangers. Because of this they make the ideal family dog and are one of the kid-friendly dog breeds. Despite being one of the most active dog breeds , Silver Labrador Retrievers are highly adaptable. They prefer bigger spaces to stretch their legs and explore. As one of the sturdy dog breeds for outdoor adventures , they will often take an outside adventure over an inside one any day. But, they will also just be happy to be spending time with you. They do well in most climates, but are sensitive to heat and extreme cold. Silver Labs are one of the most affectionate dog breeds. They are happiest when they are spending time with their favorite humans, so they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Silver Labrador Retriever can include elbow dysplasia , hip dysplasia, hereditary myopathy, heart disease, cataracts, and progressive retinal atrophy. A condition called exercise-induced collapse EIC has a genetic link and can occur in young adult Labradors. Good breeding practices and the health of the parents make a big difference in the health of Silver Lab puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a large, deep-chested dog breed, the Silver Labrador Retriever is at a higher risk for bloat. Silver Labs are one of the smartest dog breeds. They pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. Despite their energy and getting bored easily, they are still a great fit for dog owners of any experience level. Labrador Retrievers are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. Silver Labrador Retrievers have short, water-resistant fur in two layers. Because of this dense double coat that protects them from the cold, and being one of the dog breeds that tend to love water , they may try to go for a swim regardless of the season. They shed year-round and more heavily twice a year when seasons change. Plus, your Lab will love spending the time with you. Trimming their nails once or twice monthly keeps them from growing too long. Regularly checking ears and cleaning them as needed can help prevent ear infections. Proper dental care for dogs , like daily brushing and cleanings at the vet when needed, is important to prevent the tartar buildup that causes painful dental diseases later in life. Silver Labrador Retrievers need a lot of daily activity to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for this dog. Although they are high-energy dogs, Silver Labs will tend to mellow out a little bit as they get older. Labrador Retrievers tend to have an extended puppyhood and maintain that puppy-like energy until they are around years old. Swimming is a great low-impact activity. Once your Lab puppy is cleared for more intense activity, you can try a lot of different activities with them. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Labs are also athletic and versatile dogs that tend to be a good fit for a wide range of activities. Fully-grown Silver Labrador Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Silver Labs generally live for years on average. Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds used as guide dogs, therapy dogs, and search and rescue dogs. They are also commonly found working as police or military dogs. They are even one of the best dog breeds for farms! Featured Silver Labrador Retriever Article. With their signature bat ears and expressive eyes, French Bulldogs, or "Frenchies" as they are lovingly known, have captured the hearts of many dog lovers around the globe, consistently ranking among the most popular breeds. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water.

Currently the American Kennel Club ranks them at number 4 in their long list of most desirable. These dogs make their point communicating with expressive eyes, energetic attitude and possibly the Frenchie Talk. French Bulldogs are excellent watch dogs who adapt well to family life or single. They don't mind being inside most of the time. They get along well with cats and other pets and they like to make friends with your guests and family who drop by. No wonder this a favorite dog for city life from Europe to the US and beyond. The Frenchie dog breed comes in a variety of unusual colors. This article will look at rare colors found in French Bulldogs like merle, lilac, blue and more. Those colors come in pied only if the mother and father are both pied in theory. Rare colors in French Bulldog puppies can be exceptionally expensive and there is some debate about how healthy a rare colored Frenchie can be. Frenchies are one of the few breeds that come in a bewildering variety of colors. Most Frenchies are Brindle. This is a dark colored coat mixed with lighter color strands of hair and the most frequently found color in the Frenchie. Fawn is a lighter tan colored coat that can range from very light to a dark reddish tan. These French Bulldogs often have a darker face mask and ears with some brindle streaks thrown in for variety. The third most common color in this breed is white. White French Bulldogs have a very porcelain white coat and most of the time come with a darker mask. Frenchies with tan points - black and tan Frenchie, blue and tan Frenchie, lilac and tan Frenchie, chocolate and tan Frenchie etc. Trindles - French Bulldogs which have brindle in their tan points. All black French Bulldogs - with no trace of brindle is also quite rare. The Blue French Bulldog is one of the rarest colors. For that reason alone people pay very high prices for them. There is usually a waiting list for blue aren't so much blue as gray puppies. You can expect to pay twice or triple as much for a blue French Bulldog than the average price for a standard French Bulldog. Blue Frenchies are quite striking however can be prone to Color Dilution Alopecia or CDA ;a recessive inherited condition that causes patches of hair thinning or loss. This is most commonly seen in dogs with blue or fawn coats. The puppies are born normal looking, but the hair thinning and loss symptoms can start at 6 months up to several years later. It is most often associated with Blue Dobermans. CDA is not curable but it's fairly easy to manage. It is important to mention that our blue Frenchie never suffered from any symptoms to his coat. Not all blue Frenchies will be prone to the coat problems however, your vet can help you keep your blue French Bulldog healthy and happy if any issue arises. Blue Frenchies get cold easily - Some owners have stated the blue Frenchie gets cold easily, we are unsure if this is just a myth or based on actual research. Either way French Bulldogs can't regulate their body temperature well. Having any Frenchie in cold climate is not ideal due to their short coat. If you live in a cold climate there are ways you can keep your Frenchie warm. Always dress your French Bulldog with our specially tailored for Frenchies hoodies , Frenchie pajamas etc. The blue Frenchie skin condition can also impact your grooming regime. We have not experienced any of the above with our blue Frenchie. We also know plenty of the standard color Frenchies who suffer from skin conditions and allergies. We are not trying to promote or discourage buying the standard or rare colors we simply don't discriminate over colors. We love all our French Bulldogs friends that come in all colors of the rainbow. What are the different coat colors of a Blue Frenchie puppy? All Blue Frenchie - meaning all blue without any other colors to the coat. Blue Pied Frenchie - Frenchies with blue coats and patches of white or cream on their bellies, chest, legs etc. Blue fawn Frenchie- Frenchie coat that looks like a mix of blue and fawn. Blue brindle Frenchie - Blue coated French Bulldog puppy with brindle streaks. Blue merle Frenchie - a combination of different patches and streaks that are irregular and unusual. Blue and Tan Frenchie - Blue coated French Bulldog puppy with tan points usually around paws and face. A sable Frenchie usually looks like a fawn Frenchie with darker black hairs covering throughout the coat. There are rare Frenchies with cream or tan sable coats as well. Isabella French bulldogs Isabella color in French bulldogs come from dilution of the recessive gene. A Frenchie puppy can be born with a blue coat and mature to a more of a pale greyish brown or golden coat. For a puppy to acquire this rare coat color he or she needs to have the genotype dd. DNA of an Isabella Frenchie puppy will be ddbb which means that he or she will have two copies of each chocolate and blue gene. The Isabella Frenchie is the only lilac that is testable for the chocolate gene therefore some French Bulldog breeders consider the Isabella to be the true lilac. This rare French bulldog color is usually the most expensive due to their stunning looks and variety of rare coats. Isabella Frenchies usually look different with lighter shades of noses and eyes. Why are they so much more expensive than other popular breeds? Most Frenchies can't have live babies the normal way. They have narrow hips that aren't designed for natural birth. The high price tag reflects the expense of artificial insemination and c-sections to deliver the puppies. They also require constant attention and care when they are born. They require many health and genetic exams. These dogs have always been expensive. Reports have it one of the wealthy individuals named Robert Williams Daniel who survived the Titanic had his Frenchie along with him. While Robert survived when the ship sank on April 15th, sadly his French Bulldog did not make it. Many breeders would agree good breeding practices can greatly reduce the risks of genetic disorders that can lead to hearing loss, hip problems, and respiratory illness in French Bulldogs. Buying a well bred French Bulldog can help avoid a lifetime of vet bills and care. You are much more likely to get a happy, healthy dog who can enjoy a full, rich life. Merle is a pattern in a dog's coat. Merle French Bulldogs can have tiger stripes, spots, or patches. These come in different colors and patterns and are determined by heredity and genetics. Health issues can occur when two merle dogs are bred, therefore breeders usually mate a merle parent with a solid coat parent. While Merle French Bulldogs can be quite exotic and strikingly beautiful, this kind of breeding can come with a number of serious problems from skeletal defects to blindness to deafness to increased fetal mortality. This is why it is extremely important to choose a reputable Frenchie breeder. The blue merle is the rarest of colors that exist in the Frenchie breed. They are best described as gray with spots or how we like to call them cookies N' cream. They are so different from the standard common French Bulldog however, being that rare may not be a great thing especially when one considers all the health problems blue and merle Frenchies can have. It is important to mention that some merle French Bulldogs can live a healthy uneventful life. It is critical and essential to find a reputable breeder with good breeding practices especially when considering a rare color Frenchie. Also expect a blue merle to come with a hefty price tag. One of the most in-demand of rare colors is the Lilac French Bulldog. The lilac Frenchies are only produced occasionally and usually by breeders limited to the West Coast of the United States. They have a purple lilac coat color that can be quite attractive. Price is always higher than the already expensive standard French Bulldog puppy. Excellent Lilac Frenchies have a distinct color and vibrant eyes. This happens when they receive a combination of chocolate and blue DNA from both parents. As you can imagine, this rarely occurs. The Lilac coat can range from cool blue to a very classy looking silver and purple hue. Some have white markings on their chest and face. Another rare trait are their light colored eyes. This remains from the time they are puppies throughout life unlike the standard French Bulldog. The rarest colors of French Bulldogs are blue, lilac, blue and tan, and chocolate and tan. Add that Merle coats. A blue merle is perhaps the rarest of them all. In a world where a standard French Bulldog costs several thousand dollars, these rare colors can sell for tens of thousands. Since rare color Frenchies are prone to health and genetic problems , it is extremely important to find a reputable breeder who uses responsible breeding techniques with the right precautions otherwise you may be sinking your life savings into a dog that will be at the vet all the time, will be sick and may die prematurely. Rare Frenchies are just that - rare. Active breeders may only see one every few years if at all. Most rare colors are produced by breeders who specialize in producing them at a more frequent rate. Breeding rare color French Bulldogs is serious business. Most rare color breeders are running family operations dedicated to become experts in producing the highest quality rare French Bulldogs possible. Breeders expect to spend a significant amount of time answering your questions and sending you information. Be sure to ask them questions about the health of the puppy, their bloodline, and what to expect. The Frenchie is sweet and charming. It's no wonder so many people love their little Frenchie. These dogs are compact, muscular, lovable, and oh so smart. They are just right for apartment life and smaller homes with diminutive yards. Rare colors in French Bulldogs are perhaps the most exciting development in this already delightful breed. Rare colors in this breed can come with health issues so it is imperative to seek a reputable breeder who specializes in rare colors which will greatly reduce the risks of genetic disorders. They surprised me. She is now a mom to a Lilac , Brindle, and a pure Black babies. So exciting. I have a six month old male frenchie. When will he be sexually mature to breed? He has a blue tan coat I believe. Do I get a free puppy after? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Jera Benedict June 02, I have a black and tan make frenchie. I have several female frenchie owners asking what is my stud fee. He is 1 year old. He has the markings if a rottweiler. He has never been sick, has all his shots and was bred by a private breeder a former veterinarian. I have read numerous reports that I should beware of illness and disease. How rare is it to never have healty issues with the Blue Merle? Thank you so much for all the info! Where can I find info about it? Thanks Jules April 13, Very interesting reading thank you! Description The French Bulldog is a sturdy, compact, stocky little dog, with a large square head that has a rounded forehead. The muzzle is broad and deep with a well-defined stop. The nose is black, but may be lighter in lighter colored dogs. The upper lips hang down over the lower lips. The teeth meet in an underbite and the lower jaw is square and deep. The round, prominent eyes are set wide apart and are dark in color. The bat ears stand erect, are broad at the base narrowing in a triangular shape and rounded at the tips. The height at the withers to the ground should be approximately the same as the length from withers to the base of the tail. The tail is either straight or corkscrew. The chest is broad and deep with the front of the dog being wider than the back end, forming a pear shape. The dewclaws may be removed. The medium-fine coat is short and smooth. The skin is loose, forming wrinkles around the head and shoulders. Coat colors include brindle, brindle and white, cream, cream and white, fawn, fawn and white, fawn brindle, white, white and brindle, white and fawn, black, black and fawn, black and white, fawn and black, fawn brindle and white and gray and white. Temperament The French Bulldog is a pleasant, easy-care companion who is playful, alert and affectionate. It is enthusiastic and lively, without being yappy and loud. Curious, sweet and absolutely hilarious, it has a very comical personality and loves to clown around. It is bright and easygoing. The Frenchie gets along fairly well with strangers and other animals and enjoys being with its owner. It plays well with other dogs. Those Frenchies that are allowed to believe they are alpha may become dog aggressive. This breed needs leadership and will not thrive without it. The Frenchie cannot be owned and ignored. When it senses an owner is meek or passive toward it, it will become very stubborn and even snappish. They can be trained if the owner is calm, but firm, consistent and patient. Proper human to canine communication is essential. Do not give them affection or sweet talk them if they are displaying any type of unwanted behaviors; instead correct them sternly with an air of calm authority. French Bulldogs are clean, and most will try to avoid puddles. Most cannot swim so take caution around water. This breed does best with considerate children who know how to display proper leadership. This breed may drool and slobber ; however a good percentage of them do not. They are also a relentless hunter of mice. Do not allow this sweet little bully to develop Small Dog Syndrome. Height, Weight Height: 12 inches 30 cm There are two weight classes of French Bulldog: 19 - 22 pounds 9 - 10 kg and 22 - 28 pounds 10 - 13 kg. Over 28 pounds is a disqualification. Health Problems French Bulldogs are prone to joint diseases, spinal disorders, heart defects and eye problems. Dams often have to deliver pups by cesarean section, because pups have relatively large heads. They often have respiratory problems. They tend to wheeze and snore and have trouble in hot weather. Prone to heatstroke. An overweight Frenchie may have trouble breathing, because of a swollen abdomen. Do not overfeed this breed. Putting them under anesthesia is risky because of their breathing issues. French Bulldogs are high maintenance and potential owners need to be aware that their vet bills may be high. Take this into consideration before choosing a Frenchie puppy. Living Conditions Frenchies are good for apartment life. They can be fairly active indoors and will do okay without a yard. They do not do well in temperature extremes. Exercise The French Bulldog needs to be taken on a daily walk , where the dog is made to heel beside or behind the person holding the lead, as instinct tells a dog the leader leads the way, and that leader needs to be the human. Simply running around a large yard is not going to satisfy their migration instinct. Take care in hot weather. They love to run and play and can play for hours if you let them. Some have higher energy levels than others. Life Expectancy. Color variations Blue merle French Bulldog Blue merle French Bulldogs are one of our most sought-after puppies of all the colors. They got their name after the blue patches on their light-colored coat, which are essentially grey with a bluish shine in the light. The shade of the grey parts may vary from very light to almost black, while their base color also ranges from a yellowish cream color to light grey. Lilac merle French Bulldog Lilac merle French Bulldogs are often mistaken for blue merle Frenchies, but they are much more unique and harder to come by. Lilac merle Frenchies have very light, almost ashy or silver colored patches on their light coat. To produce this rare and beautiful color, the parents have to carry the blue, chocolate and merle gene. Lilac merle French Bulldogs usually have light-colored eyes which are glowing red. Chocolate merle French Bulldog Chocolate merle French Bulldogs have dark brown mottled patches all over their light-colored bodies. Choco merle pups also have unique genetics so they are quite rare and hard to come by. Similarly to lilac Frenchies, they are the combination of blue and chocolate but their grey shade is more of a champagne color. Breeders have managed to mix in the merle gene as well producing the Isabella merle French Bulldog, but these dogs are extremely rare. Black merle French Bulldog Black merle French Bulldogs have black mottled patches often covering most of their bodies. Their base coat is also slightly darker than in other merle Frenchies, ranging from light grey to light brown. Fawn merle French Bulldog There are a number of different variations of fawn merle French Bulldogs, like blue fawn merle, lilac fawn merle or chocolate fawn merle. The dark patches these Frenchies have are less distinct looking than in other merles, as they are only a bit darker than their light fawn base color. One of these rare traits is their sparkling blue eyes. Since the merle gene affects the skin pigment as well, when a merle patch crosses the eye area the Frenchie will have bright forever blue eyes. Sometimes only one of the eyes will remain blue, which is a phenomenon called heterochromia. Because of how dominant the merle gene is, merle Frenchies should only be bred to a dog with a solid coat color. They are insanely affectionate making them the perfect companion dogs, they just want to spend every minute of their time with their owners. They are extremely friendly with kids and other animals too; they love basically anyone they meet! Thanks to their easy-going nature, a Merle Frenchie will adapt to your lifestyle very quickly no matter where you live. As you might expect, colors that are considered common for the breed have the lowest prices, while colors which are more unique and harder to produce are more expensive as well. When it comes to Merle French Bulldogs, they are already in a higher price range, but depending on the color variation their prices may further vary a lot. Permanent blue eyes also push the prices up a bit: we charge USD per blue eye. Rarity What makes fluffy Frenchies so rare? Like we already mentioned, fluffy French Bulldogs are still hard to come by despite the huge demand in recent years. Why is that? Frenchies that carry only one LH gene have regular short coat, but they are still valuable for breeders. If such a Frenchie is bred to another carrier of the long hair gene, they are likely to produce fluffy puppies, although the chances of that are still quite low. Long-haired pups are only guaranteed if two visual fluffy French Bulldogs are bred together. Their size depends not only on genetics but on their lifestyle as well how many times you take them for a walk, do you have a backyard, do you have other dogs or pets and even the food that you give them. Male Frenchies are usually stronger and stockier than females, they have bigger heads and wider chests. Female Frenchies tend to be a bit smaller and less muscular. On average, they weigh about 5 lbs less than males: their adult size is around 25 lbs, while boys can go up to 30 lbs. They are insanely affectionate making them the perfect companion dogs, they just want to spend every minute of their time with their owner. They are extremely friendly with kids and other animals too; they love basically anyone they meet! Thanks to their easy-going nature, a fluffy Frenchie will adapt to your lifestyle very quickly no matter where you live. Even though fluffy Frenchies are most popular among French Bulldog breeders, any responsible dog owner can become the parent of one these amazing dogs. Another thing to consider is your financial situation. Buying a fluffy Frenchie is one thing, and maintaining them is a whole different story. Each pet has to visit the vet regularly to get the compulsory shots, which costs money. Not to mention any sickness, which can easily happen at any age. Vets are not cheap, but having pet insurance helps to lower medical costs. All French Bulldogs are prone to overheating due to their flat-faces, but fluffy Frenchies are in even more risk because of their thick long coat. So, if you live in an area with a hot and humid climate, you might want to opt for a regular short-haired Frenchie puppy instead. Von Stephanitz had in his mind what a good working dog should be and a few generations of breeding fulfilled what Hektor envisioned. Horand von Grafrath is known to be the first German Shepherd Dog. Horand von Grafrath was bred to other similar styled dogs that were believed to have the same traits as what Von Stephanitz was looking for. His most successful offspring was Hektor von Schwaben. Von Stephanitz is widely credited for being the founder of this incredible breed. Von Stephanitz had intended for his breed to work as herding dogs, however, as Germany became more and more industrialized he saw the need to make it working dog. He convinced the German government to use the breed. The breed initially became popular in World War 1. Many American and allied servicemen grew attached to the breed during the war and brought them back to the states after the war was over. The Allied troops fell in love with the breed but not with the fact that it had German roots. It became common for police departments and those looking for true working dogs to import their dogs from Germany because the American dogs had such bad health problems. It is thought that the breed developed by crossing miniature Chinese breeds with small Tibetan breeds — in particular, Lhasa Apsos with the Pekingese. The Shih Tzu was always a favorite of the Emperors of China. During the Tang Dynasty, a pair of these dogs were said to be given to the Chinese court by the king of Vigur. More were sent later by the people of the Ho Chou. In the mids, small dogs which resembled lions were brought from Tibet to China, and these dogs were used to develop the Shih Tzu breed we know today. The Shih Tzu was popular during the Ming Dynasty as well, favored by royalty and commoners alike.

Your new furry friend has a lot of growing to do, and you probably have a lot of questions. Your Golden Retriever puppy will go through a number of developmental stages throughout their first twelve weeks. Male Golden Retrievers generally weigh between 65 and 75 pounds and stand from 23 to 24 inches tall. Females are generally smaller weighing between 55 to 65 pounds, and will grow to stand .At 4 months, your Golden Retriever puppy will reach about half their adult height. When it comes to mental development, it can take even longer than that before the Golden Retriever is fully mature. However, every puppy is a unique individual, and these are merely milestone guidelines. Disparities exist between the working and show Goldens, as well as between males and females. Golden Retriever puppy growth can also be quite sporadic. As an overall average, many Golden Retriever puppies will weigh just approximately 1. Golden Retrievers are classified as a gundog breed, and these dogs are often divided into those bred for show and those meant for work. However, the body of the show Golden is typically larger, taller, heavy-boned, and fuller in the chest. Small Parents Like people, puppies inherit physical traits from their parents. And even puppies from the same litter can vary in size. Neither of these scenarios is healthy for a puppy. Larger breeds like the Golden Retriever are more at risk for growth disorders than small breed dogs. This article will give you a lot more information on how much to feed, what to feed, and how often to feed a Golden Retriever puppy. Illness and Puppy Growth If a puppy has been seriously ill for a prolonged period, it may affect their ability to grow normally. However, once the puppy is free of worms, they should continue to grow at a normal rate. The best way to determine if your puppy is too thin or too fat is by how he looks and feels. When looking at your puppy from above, he should have a noticeable waistline. Another way to tell is by putting your hands on either side of his ribcage. You should be able to feel his ribs using a gentle pressure. But if his ribs are visible, he could be underweight. Obesity is a huge problem for many dog breeds. Although there are ways to make your puppy grow bigger, this is not something you should attempt. It could also mean you end up with a fat puppy. One of the best ways to ensure your puppy has a long, healthy life is to ensure he stays at an optimal weight. Hip and elbow dysplasia and other musculoskeletal disorders are associated with excess weight in larger breeds. Having your dog neutered at a young age can also cause them to grow taller. The problem is, this can also cause abnormalities in joint formation. Neutering also makes Golden Retrievers more at risk for certain types of cancers. Typically it will take approximately 18 months for your Golden Retriever to become an adult dog. Even though they can reach their full height at anywhere from 9 to 12 months, it will usually take them longer to fill out to their full weight. Remember that there are wide variations in size within the Golden Retriever breed. If this is the case, you should contact your veterinarian to seek advice. Beginning the puppy development stages before birth Puppy development stages week by week Amazingly, in a way the puppy development stages begin before your dog is even born. Your puppy spends approximately 9 weeks developing inside his Mom. The mother dog has a womb or uterus, that has two long tubes, and the puppies grow in a row along each tube rather like peas in a pod. The puppies are joined to their mother by a placenta which provides all the nourishment they need for those few weeks. To begin with, the puppies have plenty of room to move but they grow fast and as the time for birth draws near they are packed in quite tightly. The one week old puppy Your puppy is born fully furred but with his eyes and ears closed so he cannot hear or see. His front feet are strong and he can pull himself towards his mother with them. He can cry if he is uncomfortable and his mother will respond to his cries by moving him towards her and licking him. Your puppy spends most of his time sleeping or suckling. He cannot regulate his own body temperature and needs his mother for heat, or an artificial heat source. In the first week to ten days of his life your puppy grows rapidly and will double his birth weight. His forelegs are getting much stronger. She licks the puppies bottoms to stimulate a bowel or bladder movement and eats the result. There is no cleaning up for the breeder to do yet. The breeder will begin to handle the puppies more though, and get them used to human contact. She will worm the puppies for the first time at the end of this week. Puppies begin to get their personalities. Your puppy can stand and sit up by the end of the week. Tails can be wagged, ears will be completely open and puppies start play growling and interacting with their littermates. Your puppy can regulate his body temperature more effectively and will start to cut his first teeth in preparation for weaning. The front teeth, canines and incisors are cut first. Toward the end of the week he may have his first tiny taste of puppy food. They also start to move away from the sleeping area to empty their bowels and bladder. They may try to climb out of the whelping box. If she lives indoors, she may rejoin the family for more of each day. Your puppy will cut his back teeth and the breeder will get weaning underway this week and by the end of it, your puppy will be getting quite a bit of his nourishment from puppy food. She will also worm the puppies a second time. If the mother is allowed near the puppies after she has been fed, she may regurgitate her dinner for them. This is completely natural and normal. He is a proper little dog. Rolling around with his brothers and sisters and playing with toys. Teething toys, puppy Kongs, balls and rope toys are big favorites with puppies. He can bark too and some puppies can be quite noisy at this age! He chases after his mother whenever she appears and suckles hungrily, but she is starting to get fed up with it, and may be reluctant to feed her brood for very long. His mother is teaching him not to bite too hard. If he lives in outdoor kennels he should spend part of each day indoors with the family. By the end of the sixth week, most are fully weaned, and eating five or six little meals of puppy food each day. Socialization must begin in earnest. He is now two months old and ready for his new life. It is the time during which they become fearful of anything unfamiliar and need to be thoroughly socialized. This is also the time during which most puppies get to grips with house-training, learning to wait before eliminating and start sleeping through the night without a potty break. It is a busy time for new puppy owners. Your puppy will have his vaccinations during this month. Biting can be a big problem during this stage and you need to be patient and consistent in order to teach the puppy not to hurt people when he plays. Provided you use force free methods, this is a great time to get puppy training under way, and especially to teach a puppy recall, and to get your puppy used to working with food. So, for a 2. You can do the same calculation for medium pups at sixteen weeks and large breed pups at 20 weeks — just divide his weight by his age in weeks before you multiply by .Medium to large pups will reach about half their adult height by the end of the month. If the weather is warm you can get your puppy swimming now. He should be able to come when he is called, in and around your home, provided there are not too many distractions. It all depends on what you have taught him. He may still be chewing a lot and biting too. Use frozen Kongs to help him and give your furniture and fingers a break. Puppies can go for short walks now. By the end of this month your puppy could have a twenty minute walk each day. He may also enjoy fetching a ball and playing with other dogs, but take care to stop before he gets very tired. Less dependence This is the month during which some puppies start to become less dependent on their humans for security. Keep your puppy close to you outdoors by changing direction frequently so that you puppy has to keep coming to find you. And engaging him in games. The foundations of a great recall are often build or spoilt during this month. If your puppy knows how to sit or lie down at home, start some simple proofing exercises with him in public places. A healthy puppy can usually manage on two meals a day from around six months. During this month a Retriever, Spaniel or GSD puppy will reach around two thirds of his adult weight. A Great Dane and other large breeds will have reached about half their final weight and little dogs will have almost completed their growth. Some female dogs will come on heat for the first time during this month, or the next, so keep an eye open now for swelling of her vulva and any discharge. Your dog will become increasingly confident over the next few months so practice, practice and practice that recall! Make it a habit he cannot break. And be generous with your rewards. Small breed pups may now be more or less mature. Your puppy will enjoy half hour off lead walks now, and should be able to walk on a loose lead for short periods with plenty of encouragement and rewards. Keep practicing that recall! These help to slow his growth further and to build his confidence. Make sure you practice good outdoor management on walks to maintain the good recall you have built and work hard on thoroughly proofing all his obedience skills. Read up on neutering before you take this important step, for dogs of either sex. Once your dog is a year old he can participate in more strenuous activities and sports. Now is the time to think about the kinds of activities you would like to do with him — go jogging together for example — and if necessary, to start to get him fit. Puppy development stages — Summary There is huge variation in the way in which dogs develop and mature. The puppy development stages and ages outlined above are a rough guide. We hope you enjoyed them and found the information interesting. When it comes to training, you get out what you put in. Your progress depends as much if not more on you rather than your puppy. If you train your puppy five times a day, six days a week he will learn many, many times faster than a puppy that is trained once a day at the weekend. Enjoy watching your puppy grow and develop. And have fun! Puppy or Adult? Puppies are cute, cuddly and full of antics. Hopefully, that helps carry you both through the period when puppies dig holes in the yard, surf kitchen counters, jump up on people, chew your favorite possessions, and other typical puppy behavior. Of course keeping a constant eye on the puppy and gently guiding him to an alternate activity helps a lot. But there are other aspects, such as needing to take the puppy outdoors for potty breaks, initially every 15 minutes early morning until bedtime, to establish the desired place. Being proactive owners who socialize their puppy to strangers and other dogs and teach their puppy the right way before they learn the wrong way on their own is ideal. It indeed can build a wonderful bond and develop a well socialized and well behaved adult. But make no mistake; that takes time and dedication, and a united front by all family members for the consistency of what is expected and how to communicate that to the puppy. Not necessarily. There are some great options. Older Puppy or Adult from a Breeder Older Puppy — Sometimes breeders raise up a couple of puppies from a litter to see which one meets the needs of their breeding program. This can mean that at some point 6 months of age? Adult — Another situation occurs when a breeder is contacted by a previous puppy buyer when something unforeseen happens and the buyer is unable to keep his Golden. Getting acquainted with several reputable breeders in your area can give you the ability to assess them and their dogs, and they can assess you as the right home for an adult or older puppy from their breeding program. Consider contributing to The Golden Retriever Foundation. More Information. Not all goldens will grow to the same size and at the same rate. The size of the parents is always a good indicator of whether your dog will be above or below average in size. However, while natural variation is nothing to worry about, stunted growth or accelerated growth is. If a golden retriever puppy is malnourished or suffering from an unidentified medical condition usually hookworm or ringworm , their natural growth can be compromised. This can lead to serious medical issues in later life, as it can leave them with weak bones, weak muscles, and a weak immune system, as well as a tendency to develop both skin and digestive issues. Growing too quickly, largely as a result of overfeeding, can also pose a major health risk. As well as leading to obesity, carrying too much weight at the development stage can leave your golden retriever with skeletal abnormalities, hip dysplasia, and osteochondrosis , a condition that affects the joints. With these tips, you will help fight off those genetic health disorders as well. Appropriate Diet Start off by speaking to your vet for guidance on foods to use for the different life stages. At the very least, you will need a nutritionally complete and balanced diet made for large breeds. Good food will help your pup gain the right amount of weight, look healthy, and have enough energy. Proper exercise will build their muscle and bone strength, prevent obesity, increase their agility, stop destructive behavior, and help them release pent-up energy. Vaccines will help to prevent infectious diseases such as hepatitis, parvovirus, rabies, and distemper, all of which could affect the growth and overall health of your puppy. This will be a plus for her overall health. It would also be great to have your vet do routine health checks on your puppy. This way, no issue will go unnoticed, and treatment can be administered early for better outcomes. A shiny coat and bright eyes are a plus. Alternatively, if you notice rapid weight gain or loss, unusual bumps and lumps on their skin, digestive issues, changes in behavior, and visual or hearing complications, take your dog to the vet right away. Compared to other breeds, Golden Retrievers, especially females, grow pretty quickly. Males could take up to 18 months to achieve the same milestone. However, both will still need an additional year to fill out the chest fully. Adult height, on the other hand, will be reached between 9 and 12 months. As always, females will get there a bit faster than males. You can get a rough idea of how big your golden retriever will grow by first studying the parents. Take note of the size that both of the parents and previous litters have had. Rarely will a puppy grow larger than its parents, so the measurements you gather will give you a better idea of how tall and heavy your golden retriever will get. Full-grown, healthy, male golden retrievers have a height of between 22 and 24 inches while the females are 20 to 22 inches tall. In terms of height and body structure, the Canadian golden retriever has no rival. Spaying and neutering specifically affect the development of bones and also ligament and tendon strength. In fact, some studies report higher incidences of cranial cruciate ligament tears and hip dysplasia among golden retrievers that went through this procedure. Therefore, consult your vet when deciding if and when to spay or neuter your dog. The weight of your golden retriever is a good indication of their healthy development. While male and female Goldens will have different weights and show goldens tend to be heavier than working goldens, overall, they should be hitting the weights listed in the growth and weight chart above. If your dog is not hitting these milestones, consult your vet about malnutrition, possibly caused by worms, and excessive golden retriever growth, which is often the result of overfeeding. If you feel like your pooch is missing any of them, again, it is time to consult your vet. In general, good nutrition and a loving home is a recipe for a happy and healthy golden retriever. If you want to know more about your golden retriever, you can do a DNA test, too. You can choose one of the tests below:.

Here are some key features to consider when your are buying best toys for poodles Size One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a toy for your poodle is the size. You want to make sure that the toy is appropriately sized for your dog. If the toy is too small, it could pose a choking hazard, while a toy that is too large may be difficult for your poodle to play with. Look for toys that are specifically designed for small or medium-sized dogs. Material The material of the toy is also an important consideration. Look for toys made from high-quality materials, such as rubber or nylon. Avoid toys that are made from cheap, flimsy materials that can easily break or tear. Functionality Consider what your poodle likes to do when choosing a toy. Some poodles love to play fetch, while others prefer toys that they can chew on. The 6 Best Types of Toys for a Poodle Overview If you think of dog toys as needing to serve as tools to meet a Poodle's needs, you may be surprised at how amazingly helpful they can be. The right toys can help a great deal with everything from teething woes, to negative behavior associated with boredom. In addition, toys can serve as a method of creating a closer bond with your Poodle, encourage activity in an otherwise sedentary dog, and even boost a Poodle's brain power. Here we will take a look at the 6 types of toys every Poodle should have to meet a wide variety of canine needs. Teething begins by 3 to 4 months old and lasts until the 7 to 8 month mark. During this time, there are incredible amounts of itching and most puppies feel some level of discomfort. This causes an overwhelming need to chew to soothe those teething woes. For these reasons, one of the best things that you can do is find the right toys for your teething Poodle puppy. Qualities of effective teething toys: The oral sensations that a puppy feels can move from moment to moment. Discomfort waxes and wanes. And itching can come in waves. So, toys need to be very versatile. The best toys will have: A variety of surface textures. Cloth, rope, and hard rubber should be available to meet chewing urges at any one particular time. Rope toys are especially helpful, as the twisted strands are good 'scratchers'. Small nubs. This is of particular importance; tiny nubs work to massage gums which helps the pup feel better. A puppy needs to be able to manipulate the toy into different parts of his mouth. Proper sizing. This is most relevant to toy Poodles, since many dog teething toys are sized too big for a tiny toy's mouth. If a Poodle puppy cannot instantly find relief, he may move onto something else.Recommended teething toys: Below are our 1 most recommended toys for Poodle pups that are in the throes of teething. The first 3 are for toy Poodles, though larger options can be found for miniatures and standards. The Nylabone is just one example of great teething chews that are flavored to entice a puppy to mouth them and come in a wide range of sizes, to accommodate all Poodle varieties. If you do not see the images, try a refresh. On mobile, you may need to turn the screen horizontal to see all 4. And if this describes your Poodle, no doubt you have had a hard time finding the right toys that will stand up to aggressive chewing. A dog's urge to chew is not limited to toys; with this type of drive, nothing is off limits. If a Poodle is not happy with his toys, one of two things will happen: 1 the dog will move on to other objects in the house, which is not only destructive but also unsafe or 2 the dog will become irritable and stressed as he's unable to satisfy his urges. Qualities of the best toys for strong chewers: To meet your Poodle's needs, the goal will be to provide fun chew toys that are specifically designed to handle aggressive chewers. While no toy is literally indestructible, some come very close. The toy will need to: Be able to stand up to high bite force. Be safe - A great feature to look for is a color indicator that the toy has been chewed down too far. Some toys are guaranteed, meaning that if a color starts to show, you'll get a free replacement. Fun - If it does not have the right texture and pliability to feel good in a Poodle's mouth, it'll be of no use. Recommended toys for Poodles that are super aggressive chewers: For this, both Kongs and Doughnuts are the two best options, with Kongs being the best for toy Poodles images are below. Kongs are great because they come in a wide range of sizes that will be appropriate for toys, minis, and standards. These are color coded, with pink and blue for puppies, red for 'normal' adult chewers, and black is reserved for the strongest chewers. In other words, a puppy would never be able to bite down on a black Kong dog toy and an aggressive chewer could tear up a pink one. The 'classic' Kong is designed to be filled with treats or kibble, which draws a dog to it and encourages him to stay focused. If your Poodle likes to chew, but has not shown a history of shredding toys to bits, you may find that the Kong 'minimally stuffed' chew toys are well received. These are also great because they come in all sizes from small to large. Goughnuts are colored coded as well, with yellow, orange, and green for strong chewers PSI and black reserved for professional grinders at a whopping PSI. What is great about these is that they are guaranteed. Each has red in the middle. If you see even a tiny spot of red, you may return the toy for just the cost of shipping out a new one. There are 3 sizes as well; but these will be a bit too large for most toy Poodles. Toys are shown below. And in this sense, thinking of toys as 'stay busy' tools can make a huge difference in your Poodle's happiness level. When a puppy or dog is just sitting around without anything to do, he will reach a limit where boredom turns into frustration. And where monotony turns into depression. If your Poodle has been too bored, you may not even realize it until you hand over a super-fun, interactive toy and see him perk up. Alternatively, some Poodles are very expressive about how they feel. It must be noted that regular exercise plays a role in this as well. If your Poodle is not taken out twice per day for at least minute sessions, even the best of toys may not fix his woes. So, a good balance of getting outside for walks and offering the right toys during down-time is the best fix. Qualities of the best toys to fix boredom and keep a Poodle occupied: You'll want toys that will be perfect for both when a Poodle is home alone and also when you are home but cannot interact with your Poodle at the moment. These toys should: Allow a Poodle to play fully independently; you will not need to do anything else other than point out the toy if you are there. Call out to the puppy or dog. A huge aspect is that the toy interacts with the dog. In this way, playing is a two-way street. The dog noses the toy, the toy responds. The dog chews the toy, the toy reacts. This type of element can keep a dog busy for a long time, basically until he's completely tuckered out. Recommended 'stay busy' toys for Poodles: There ares some incredibly fun options. The Babble Balls toys are out of this world; these are super interactive toys that can keep a puppy or dog amused and busy for hours. There are 3 sizes small for toys, medium for minis, and large for standard Poodles. Also, there are two fun types. One lets out animal noises. So, as a Poodle touches the toy, engaging sounds like pigs, frogs, bears, birds, even other dogs speak to him. There are 20 different animal sounds in all. The other is just as wonderful. It lets out funny phrases such as 'Come here, puppy! There are 20 amusing, encouraging phrases in all. For both of these, the toys automatically shut off when not in use, so the batteries do not run out. The Look Who's Taking line of toys is super fun as well. There are over 15 different types of stuffed animals, and each one makes a corresponding animal noise. These are good sized quality toys that stand up to daily playing. The size of these toys range from 5" the baby chick to 7" the cow and a bunch in between. There is a parrot, frog, rooster, monkey, goat, lobster, and more. These toys are shown below. These serve two purposes in one swoop. As an added benefit, if you place your Poodle's food in this sort of toy on days that you are not home, it helps prevent bloat, a dangerous health condition fast eating is a common trigger , which is a top concern for standard Poodles and is always something to be aware of no matter what type or size dog you have. Qualities of great treat-release toys: There are a few aspects to keep in mind. For this type of toy to do its job, it should: Hold in treats enough that they are not released too easily, but at the same time allow a Poodle to smell them in order to trigger a response. Be designed to work with a variety of different dog treats so that you are not forced to purchase additional treats. Be made with safe materials. Be durable to stand up to daily use. Be easy to clean since you'll want to be able to rinse away food particles. Be sized correctly. It's not uncommon for owners of toy Poodles to have trouble finding treat dispensing toys for their tiny dogs, so for these Poodles, it must fit the needs of dogs 10 lbs. Recommended treat dispensing toys for toy, mini and standard Poodles: There are some great options for all Poodles images below. Busy Buddy makes two treat release toys. The barnacle toy is perfect for toy Poodles, even puppies. It is composed of 3 tiny separate spheres, so toy Poodle can easily mouth onto one of them at a time. If you like the looks of this one, but don't have a toy Poodle, no worries. The other type is the twist sphere, which is adjustable, so you can control how easy or hard it is for your Poodle to get to the treats. This comes in small for dogs 8 to 20 lbs. The IQ Treat Ball is a great toy for toy Poodles on the larger end, minis and standards; this is available in both 3 and 4 inch diameters. It's a neat little sphere that is adjustable and releases food as it's nudged which encourages a dog to move. The Bob-A-Lot is a good-sized toy that is best suited for mini and standard Poodles. This has a large chamber that holds a full meal, and its bright color and wobbly movements make eating fun. Distress and even panicking when owners are away is referred to as separation anxiety, and this is not uncommon with dogs. In fact, it may be even more so with breeds like the Poodle due to their instinctive sensitivity and close human bonding. So, while all toys are important in their own way, perhaps the one type that can make the most dramatic impact on a Poodle is a companion toy. These will mimic a living creature to become an instant friend. With this, a dog is no longer alone. In addition, it would be remiss to not mention webcam devices that allow you to interact with your Poodle when you're not there. These are quite amazing, though are not fitting for those on a tight budget. Qualities of best companion toys: There's no competition here and there's no comparing. The very best ones are Smart Pets; these are good-sized quality stuffed animals that emit a rhythmic, soothing heartbeat. This alone instantly swoops away heavy feelings of isolation. In addition, is an option to send out a comforting warmth. This is as close as you can get to giving your Poodle a companion without obtaining another dog, and these are just marvelous. Qualities of the best pet webcams: Not very long ago, there were some sparse choices for this; however, the features where quite limited. Now, there's some truly amazing devices. While these can be a bit pricey, if you really want to go all out and come the absolute closest you can to being with your Poodle when you're not with him, the webcam will: Have two-way audio so that you can both speak to your Poodle and hear any barking in response. Have a wide-angle view and night vision, so that you can clearly see your puppy or dog at all times and under any sort of lighting though it is always recommended to keep lights on for a dog that's home alone. Easily sync to your smartphone Hold a good number of treats, so that the interaction can be frequent and extended. Toss treats out with a tap on your phone, and at a good distance to make it clear that you're playing with your Poodle. Our 1 recommend companion toys and a super-neat interactive webcam are below. If you don't see the images, try a refresh. On mobile, you may need to turn your screen horizontal to see all 4. It's what they live for. So, no matter how busy the day may get, the best thing you can do for your Poodle is to make time each day to play. It can be as little as 15 minutes, and it will mean the world. And do not discount older adults and even seniors. The need to hold onto bonds is stronger than ever. However, it's not uncommon for a Poodle to need something colorful and interesting to get really involved with a game of fetch. You'll want it to be durable and importantly the right size so that your Poodle can easily mouth it. Another option that is great to play on rainy days are puzzle games. With this, you work together as a teacher and student. You'll teach your Poodle how to nose levers and paw buttons to find hidden treats. There is something to be said about the Poodle ranking 2 in intelligence ; this is indeed a super smart breed. However, dogs are as smart as opportunity allows. For these, you'll want to pay attention to the level typically 1,2 and 3 or beginner, intermediate, and advanced so that the puzzle is doable. Recommended super-fun fetch toys and a fun puzzle game are below this one is level 2, but there are lots of options. All rights reserved. Even though Poodles are associated with France, poodles were originally a duck hunter dog in Germany. Hunters wanted a dog that could swim and move well in the water. That is why poodles have their famous haircuts. They wanted them to keep their fur around their midsection for warmth but shave parts of the neck, legs, and tail to allow them to move better in the water. Signs of separation anxiety include: Barking continually Destroying things around the house Depression Acting out or out of control when you are leaving the house Extreme excitement when you return Increased number of bathroom accidents Along with making sure your poodles have plenty of toys to keep them active while you are gone, here are other ways to help them with their separation anxiety. Leaving the television or radio on to something calming is a good idea. Poodles also like to watch the things that are going on around them, setting up an area for them by a large window or screen door can be helpful. Always make sure to leave a light on or allow or lots of natural light. A dark house can make your poodle feel lonelier. As mentioned earlier, many times, when dogs are bored, they often tend to chew more. Some tips to encourage approved chewing include. Redirect their chewing to a new toy. Poodles love new and exciting things, have two groups of toys, and only keep one group out at a time. Once you notice your dog getting bored with those toys, swap them for the other group. Keep things exciting. If your poodle is not interested in playing, try making a game. Poodles love social interaction. Making it a contest to find their chew toy might get them more excited about their chew toys. Let them not what things are not acceptable to be chewed. If your poodle continues to chew on non-chew toys like furniture, you can spray those things with a chew-deterrent spray. Here are some great durable chew toys to help your poodle redirect their chewing: 1. With three different toys, you can give your poodle a variety and switch things up to combat boredom. The different textures, shapes, and flavors will help keep your poodle entertained and chewing on these for hours. It has different textures, the rope, knobs, and tube center to keep your poodle engaged. It is durable and safe to chew. It can also be used as a training or fetch toy. Having plenty of durable chew toys can also help to combat other negative behavior your poodle might be displaying. Poodles are known to be friendly, well-tempered dogs, but like any breed, they can begin to develop some more negative behaviors. It is important to recognize these behaviors and redirect them into positive behaviors. Most Common Behavioral Problems Among Poodles Hyperactivity— It is normal for poodle puppies to be hyper, and they usually grow out of this in the first year or two. If this behavior in your poodle continues, make sure you are providing them plenty of exercise. If they feel like you are angry or frustrated, they might act out in a more hyper mood. Try to remain calm around your poodle to help them emulate your calm spirit. Too clingy- Make sure your poodle is allowed to explore all approved areas of your house, this way, they know where they can most comfortable. Introducing your poodle to new environments and situations will help them feel more comfortable in different circumstances. Always make sure you are giving your poodle the attention they need. Quality time throughout the day with their owner will allow your poodle to feel safe and secure when they are left alone. Nipping- Poodles are not naturally aggressive, and all dogs nip a little in the puppy phase as they learn to play. If this action continues into adulthood, it is vital to train and teach your poodle that this behavior is not okay. Poodles respond best to positive encouragement. Marking territory If your poodle is marking their territory, they might be trying to assert their dominance in the household, leave a mating signal, be having a response to visitors, or it might even be a response to a new family member. It is crucial in this situation to establish yourself as the head of the family with your poodle. Let them know that you are the leader. You can do this by having them sit first before you give them their food or treats. Having them sit before you enter or leave a room is also helpful in letting them know you are in charge. Another way to help them stop marking is to get them spayed or neutered. It would help if you also cleaned your home with an enzyme cleaner. Soap and water will not get rid of the smell entirely and your poodle will continue to mark when they smell it. Growling- growling is different from barking and is something an owner needs to be aware of right away. Finding the reason for the growling is important—is your poodle in pain, scared, marking their territory, or being aggressive? It is important to identify the trigger so you can help change the situation. If your poodle has begun to grow aggressively, proper training right away is vital to stop the behavior before your poodle thinks that it is acceptable to behave like that. Jumping- It is common for poodles to jump up when they are saying hello or excited to see someone. If you have a bigger poodle, this could potentially cause a problem or even frighten your guests. It is also important to make sure you are helping your poodle release their extra energy in other ways, like walks throughout the day. Disobedience- Poodles are a highly intelligent breed. They are great problem solvers and good at learning commands. Poodle owners must train their poodles with commands and rules. If you find that your poodle is continually disobeying you, it is important to understand what might be triggering them. Poodles are emotional dogs, they might be frightened or lonely, and that could be causing some of their disobedience. Understanding why they might be disobeying will help you find the right steps to take to get them back on track. Poodle Play Together Toys Dogs, especially poodles, love human interaction and contact. Poodles are athletic and smart dogs and can be easily trained. Finding a good toy that will help you interact with your poodle is a great way to show them your love and affection. It is best to find a durable toy that is easy for them to fit in their mouth when looking for a toy to play with your poodle. Hartz Dura Play Ball Size: Small Pack of 2 If you have a toy, small, or puppy poodle, these balls are the perfect size to play fetch with. They are durable and waterproof, so you can throw them in the water and let your poodle show off their swimming skills to retrieve it. They are also bacon-scented, which all dogs love! Tug a war is always a favorite game among poodles. These toys are strong and durable, and your poodle will love playing a game of fetch or tug of war with one of these many shapes. Poodles and Exercise I mentioned many times how much energy poodles have and the importance they stay active. There are many other reasons for proper exercise other than just behavioral benefits. Exercise can help lengthen your poodles life-span and combat many other health problems they might experience. Making sure your poodle exercises for the correct amount of time, on a daily bases, and at the right level can have the following benefits. Digestion help- prevents constipation and helps with regular bowel movements Increase of muscle tone which can prevent injuries Increase of blood circulation which helps combat cardiovascular disease Decrease the occurrence of UTI because it promotes healthy urination Slows down the development of arthritis Playing fetch is an excellent exercise to release quick amounts of energy, but regular walks with your poodle are the most beneficial type of activity for this bread of dog. Here is why: Walking is low impact and easy on their joints and muscles. All you need is a leash and harness. Puppy Poodles-The The duration of your walks or the amount of time you exercise your poodle depends on its size and type. For toy and miniature poodles, it is important not to over-exercise them as puppies. This can affect bone growth. Keeping walks shorter and at a slower pace for these small puppies is important Adults Poodles-As your poodle reaches adulthood, you can increase your walk time and pace. Most adult poodles need about 60 minutes of walk time a day, and it is best if this is done in two 30 minute sessions or three 20 minute ones. Senior Poodles-Even as your poodle reaches his or her senior years, it is vital to keep up their walking routine. Fresh air is known to help their moods. Just make sure to decrease the duration and pace of your walks. Walking Poodles in Different Weather Conditions Whether it is hot or cold outside, weather can affect your desire or ability to walk your poodle. Try morning and cooler evening walks. Always bring water and take a water break in the shade. Protect their nose with sunscreen. In the summer, swimming is another excellent exercise for your poodle. They are great swimmers, and it is an excellent low-impact activity. Make sure you wash their coat off with shampoo afterward, and if you are in an area with deeper water, a doggie life vest is always a safe option. Cold Weather Again, protect those paws. Paw wax or no-slip paw show to keep those paws warm Dress you and your poodle appropriately. A vest or sweater can help keep your poodle warm during those colder winter walks. Protect their noses from getting chapped with a nose butter. If it is just too cold to go outside, make sure to play and give your poodle plenty of playtime in the house. Playing fetch and letting them run a little more in the house will help them get out their energy. Best Treat Toys for Poodles Poodles love treats, and treats can be a useful training tool. They can also be a motivator to play and help keep your poodle active. Some qualities of a good treat toy include: Capacity-It can hold a good amount of treats. You do not want to have to refill it after only a few minutes of play. Variety-It can hold many different sizes of treats. Difficulty— It is not too easy for your poodle to get the treat out of it. Strong-You definitely want it to be durable. Size-make sure the size fits the size of your poodle. Poodles come in many sizes, so making sure the toy is appropriate for their size is important. These are some great options for treat toys for poodles: 1. Depending on the size of your poodle, you can pick the size that will fit them best. It is durable and machine washable. Outward Hound Ottosson Puzzle Brick Dog Toy Not only will this toy dispense a treat to your poodle, but it will also exercise their mind. Poodles are highly intelligent, and it is important to also stimulate their minds and keep them thinking. Puzzle games that dispense treats are a great way to accomplish this. This puzzle game can help reduce boredom and destructive behaviors. It will make treat giving stimulating and interactive. This game is a level 2 puzzle game, so it will not be too easy for your smart poodle. It is hand washable and easy to clean. Keeping Your Poodle Happy and Healthy. The bond between you and your poodle can be very special. Poodles love affection and the attention of their owners. Through proper training, play, and exercise, you can establish a routine and lifestyle that will bring happiness and longevity to your poodle. Toys are a great way to interact with your poodle and provide them with fun. They can be used to help train and discipline your poodle. pug puppies for sale in owensboro ky - Abilities[ ] Like the Spider-Man villain he shares his name with, the Chameleon is a master of disguise, and like Zartan from the G. Joe comics and movies, he has the power to shape-shift because he possesses a Molecular Transformation Suit that allows him to shape-shift. However, his power isn't what freaks his enemies out. It's the fact that his eyes never stay in the same place twice. His voice is a parody of Hungarian-born actor Peter Lorre. He has the ability to change his color to blend into his surroundings at will, much like most chameleons, making him invisible. The Chameleon has a constant attention of making friends with anyone, being always rejected and left alone. The Chameleon also has reptilian abilities, he can stick to and climb walls like a Gecko, and he can also use his long tongue as a weapon, to grab objects or trap people. Personality[ ] In his initial debut, Keswick described The Chameleon as a criminal genius and master of disguise. He was shown to be vengeful, bitter, intelligent, vain, crafty, malicious, and overall a lot more of a threat then Snaptrap or any other villain introduced up until that point. He was even shown to be able to go toe-to-toe with Kitty Katswell , one of T. The Chameleon is diabolic.Despite this, he was still shown to be absent minded at times such as turning into a puppy while sticking onto the outside window at T. He's was also shown to be petty to a degree as petty revenge is usually his main motive for committing a crime as he robbed a gas station for a hot dog he very easily could've bought, eating a captured General Warthog's pizza bagels right in front of him while disguised as him, taking the time to steal pens and toner from T. He is also very easily distracted by insects and will immediately drop whatever he's doing to eat a tasty looking bug, which he'll nab with his tongue, much like a real chameleon though this usually is distracting enough to give Dudley and Kitty the upper hand at times. Despite being a villain, he's pretty friendly if not a bit eccentric. When he's around other people, he considers or is hoping to be his friend he's usually over joyed to have the company and tries his best to accommodate them. Even to his enemies, he's pretty friendly at times as he willing let Dudley go and gave him a juice box when he noticed Dudley was crying in Sob Story and felt genuinely betrayed when he found out Dudley was lying. He's possibly the most optimistic villain on the show, choosing to always look on the brighter side of a poor situation or crime gone bad and is mostly law abiding until he feels like he's been wronged in someway and will go for revenge. He is shown to constantly trying to gain the friendship of fellow villains, namely Bird Brain and Snaptrap, but it never works out for him as both Bird Brain and Snaptrap have admitted that they think the chameleon is a loser and usually keep him out of activities that aren't related to any scheme. It was also reveled in Dead or a Lie That the cops and T. Remind you of anyone? Once When he disguised himself into the Mayor in Dudley Do-Wrong he was overjoyed at all the love and attention that was brought to him as mayor, and while he initially planned to keep the persona until he could destroy T. This aspect was further explored in Guard Dog where The Chameleon tells Dudley in the form of a pop-up children's book that all he's ever wanted was a friend and tried his best to befriend him, much to Dudley's annoyance. Appearance[ ] The Chameleon is a tall, and lanky chameleon with bright green with grayish-green lips. His eyes are yellow with red irises. His face has green dots. He wears the Molecular Transformation Suit which is black with green circuits. He's one of the taller character's on the show, and seems to be about Kitty's height if not a bit shorter but is taller than Dudley. He seems to get along with him better than he does with Snaptrap , though Bird Brain has been shown to get annoyed by The Chameleons constant attempts at making friends with him and bluntly said he considered The Chameleon a loser in Dead or a Lie. Camille sister [ ] The Chameleon has only once spoken about his sister, who apparently turned into a blender to avoid talking to him. This isn't yet proven since it's not truly known if she actually turned into a blender or just ran away from his obsessive talking, but either way it can be assumed that their relationship wasn't the best. Charmaine girlfriend [ ] According to the only episode she appears in Time Waits for No Mutt , she is only in it for his money and doesn't seem to actually care for him or his well being. Dudley Puppy[ The Chameleon hugging Dudley Puppy The Chameleon doesn't see Dudley as too much of a threat, but he can be annoyed by his behavior and constant accusing judgment. He was pretty disgusted though, when he learned that Dudley had a crush on him in Puppy Love. However, when Snaptrap tried to get his revenge on The Chameleon for framing him of a crime he didn't commit, he was shackled to Dudley and tried to make good friends with him, but Dudley found his needy and clingy nature annoying, but by the end of the episode accepted him despite his faults. Out of all the villains on the show, he seems to be on the best of terms with Dudley and once even called him his friend, He willing played along with Dudleys Lie in Dead or a Lie even though there was no way for The Chameleon to benefit from the lie at the time , he tried to comfort a distraught Dudley when Woodchuck Norris called him a terrible agent in Acting TUFF , he stopped monologuing in Hot Dog to complement Dudley's fur, and they even danced together in a Dance, Dance, Blast the Ants competition. They both also have the common trait of being an amazing dancer and they share the constant need for other people's attention. Kitty Katswell[ ] Being the one who originally threw him in jail for the first time, The Chameleon despises Kitty. As such, she was the first person he went after as soon as he was released from prison in Doom-mates , and nearly defeated her had it not been for Dudley. After that episode, he seems to target T. However, the two of them are shown to have a sort of rivalry with each other, as he can be seen taunting her during some of their encounters. Though, he may have seemingly gotten over the grudge against her or simply forgotten as he seemed willing to befriend Kitty in Guard Dog. Verminious Snaptrap[ ] The Chameleon doesn't always get along with Snaptrap , but is often just as happy to have his or any company. He seems to get annoyed at his attempts to make friends and even told him that he needs to find some self esteem in Happy Howl-O-Ween , implying that he finds The Chameleon's lack of self confidence sad and pitiful, and then blatantly told him that they're not friends and only invited The Chameleon so he could pay for gas, which he happily does. Snaptrap also had no issue with trying to put an end to The Chameleon when he came fourth as a witness to one of Snaptrap's crime in Guard Dog , but just as well The Chameleon had no issue with having an innocent Snaptrap locked up, just to get rid of his criminal competition, and in Share-A-Lair had no issue with risking Snaptrap and his fellow members at D. Kitty: We've just been a little disorganized since we lost our secretary. Chief: The secretary quit?! Keswick: No, we literally lost her. She took a ten-minute break, stuff piled up, and we never saw her again. And later: Dudley: Whoa! Your dress is smoking! The Chameleon, disguised as Fifi: Thank you. Dudley: No, I mean it's really smoking! In "Snap Dad", Dudley's mother Peggy isn't too broken up over Snap Trap turning back to his evil ways, saying she saw the writing on the wall.In "The Rat Pack", when the Chief said that the reviews for a musical were terrible, Snaptrap replied that the critics didn't know anything.Really, damn near half the jokes on the show is like this. Especially the episode featuring Jack Rabbit, where doing this is a running gag. Turns out there's a restaurant called that. Later, Snaptrap is eating sushi from three days ago.It keeps going and going and going, and that's just in ONE episode. He eventually breaks it off with her because of his inability to actually act good and the fact he still cares too much for his former D. Mad Scientist : Bird Brain. Keswick is a heroic version of this, as he often invents things for the sake of inventing them, including dangerous things like an acid spraying waffle maker, which even he questions why he created. The collar is ordinary, however. Mailman vs. Dog : "Hot Dog" has Dudley obsessed with winning a dog show where the grand prize is getting his own mailman to antagonize. Male Gaze : "Puppy Unplugged" starts with a close-up on Kitty's butt. Manchild : Dudley and Kitty act more like pre-teen siblings rather than adult agents, one who lives in their own apartment. Even more so with Dudley, he still lives with mom, and joins in with the kids when Snaptrap uses the "no hitting or killing near kids" rule to his advantage, doing kid related stuff along with crimes. All the main characters seem to qualify to an extent, since they're all huge fans of the children's show host Quacky the Duck though Kitty isn't as fond of his show for getting rid of the character Grammar Gopher. Because of his repeated incompetence, Stink Bug fired him when he pulls out a sign for his signal known as "Air Un-Conditioner". This would lead him to side with T. Mirror-Cracking Ugly : "Hot Dog" has the Chief look at his reflection and the mirror promptly cracking. Mistaken for Dying : In "Dead or a Lie", Dudley lies to Kitty about eating cupcakes behind her back by saying that he was poisoned by the Chameleon, which makes Kitty try and make Dudley's "final hours" his happiest, and makes Chameleon popular with Snaptrap and Birdbrain. Eventually, Dudley tells Kitty the truth, and she's not pleased about it. I'm Kitty Katswell! The Name Is Bond, James Bond : Jack Rabbit introduces himself in this manner in "The Wrong Stuff", because no James Bond homage would be complete without the pastiche character saying his surname and then his full name. At one point, Keswick uses this on a bear neighbor of his so she can hibernate and he can use her pool. Taken Up to Eleven when Keswick starts to give a long speech about why he isn't boring and promptly puts himself to sleep. Smith mode. Snaptrap's voice is an impersonation of Ed Wynn. No Indoor Voice : Dudley Puppy constantly shouts whenever he speaks. Nobody Can Die : Usually played straight it's a cartoon by Butch Hartman on Nickelodeon, for crying out loud , but rather surprisingly averted in the second episode. The Chameleon, seeking revenge on Kitty Katswell for capturing him, traps her in a small chamber with a bomb that can be detonated several times. He proceeds to blow her up 8 times, supposedly killing her repeatedly until she's only got one life left since as a cat she has 9 to start with. This somehow changes the present so Snaptrap has taken over the world. And at the end, Dudley uses it again when he misses the ice cream truck and this somehow changes the present so he's wearing pants. Not Even Bothering with the Accent : The Chameleon, despite having the ability to transform into anyone, he usually still uses his normal voice, occasionally using phrases related to his disguise. For example, when he infiltrated T. Unfortunately, when Snaptrap found out, he takes advantage of it by attracting kids to him, leaving Dudley and Kitty powerless to stop him from committing his crimes. Keswick appeared and asked why they were still crying. Kitty then exclaims, "Not now Keswick, we're too sad about what happened to Keswick! You're alive! Fortunately, the Chief deactivates the device before anyone ends up naked. Nutritional Nightmare : Quacker Jacks, a ridiculously unhealthy snack food sponsored by Quacky the Duck, whose ingredients involve a ton of trans-fats and artificial bacon cheese. So unhealthy, that when Dudley wins a lifetime supply of them, he's only given two boxes, because according to Quacky: "You can't eat more than two boxes and live! Weirdly enough, they tend to involuntarily fire lasers from their bodies. One Phone Call : It is mentioned that Kitty's twin sister Katty used her one phone call to call their mother on her birthday, which is one reason Mrs. Katswell views Katty more favorably. This infuriates him repeatedly. Onion Tears : "Snap Dad" has a bit where Dudley's mom is in tears over the phone and it turns out to be because she's slicing onions while preparing dinner. Only Sane Man : Arguably Kitty is the only one with any sense. Ollie would also be this for DOOM. Bird Brain when you compare him to Verminious Snaptrap and the Chameleon. They start screaming, the show goes to commercial, when the show comes back they're still doing it. The Chief claims they've been screaming for 30 straight minutes. Overly-Long Tongue : The Chameleon, naturally. All other males are fully clothed. Paper-Thin Disguise : The Chameleon - not visually, because he can copy appearance perfectly, but in acting. He's an incredibly bad actor except when he's not , and his idea of sounding convincingly anything is to litter his talking with random phrases related to the person he's impersonating when he acts French he inserts French foods into his sentences for no reason, same with impersonating a general with military talk. Surprisingly, this never fails to fool anyone. One ep had Dudley and Kitty wearing sports jerseys, Dudley's has 86 on it and Kitty's has 99! One of Quacky's minions is a shapely woman called the Counting Cougar "cougar" being sexual slang for middle-aged women who pursue younger men as partners. Perky Female Minion : Zippy, Birdbrain's overly cheerful assistant. Then at the end, he decided to blow up the sun. Poke the Poodle : F. P's shtick is attempting evil deeds that are more nuisances than felonies, at least until they threatened to unravel space and time. F thanks to reminding him of their pleasant bonding in "Dog's Best Friend". Pretend We're Dead : In a Halloween Episode , Dudley pretended to be a zombie to follow real ones towards the place where Snaptrap, Birdbrain and Chameleon were hiding all candy and all the toilet paper. He befriended two zombies who told him where the bad guys were hidden. Puppy's sister series, The Fairly OddParents! Pun-Based Title : Most of the episodes' names are puns. Punny Name : Everyone in F. Their leader is The Meerkat, which doesn't seem like a pun until he reminds everyone that he is "no mere kat. The Chameleon disguised as Dudley uses these to get back into Kitty's apartment after being thrown out in "Doom-Mates". Rake Take : "Scared Wit-Less" has Keswick subjected to the gag of hurting himself by stepping on a rack and hitting himself in the face with the handle twice. Hyden Vonseek in "Hide and Ghost Seek" at first appears to just be the Chameleon in disguise and Keswick constantly states that ghosts aren't real, but the end of the episode shows that the ghost is actually for real. The Real Spoofbusters : "Hide and Ghost Seek" spoofs Ghostbusters with the Ghost Bashers, a trio of bears in jumpsuits who randomly smash people's stuff with mallets trying to find ghosts. The Chameleon: Now, when are you going to get married? Why don't you ever call me on my birthday? Why can't you be more like your sister? Kitty: My sister's in jail! The Chameleon: Yes, but she used her one phone call to call me on my birthday! The Chameleon: Actually, your shoulders are a little large, and we all know why you always wear gloves. Repetitive Name : Kitty Katswell. Reptiles Are Abhorrent : Francisco the crocodile of D. Retired Badass : The Chief was once T. In one episode, he comes out of retirement to help Dudley deal with the Chameleon. While things don't work out well at first, Dudley manages to give him a pep talk and he shows he's still got it by beating up the Chameleon. Revenge : Chameleon's motivation almost always comes down to getting even with people who've wronged him in most of his appearances. Quacky the Duck also wants this after his show is canceled. Romance Novels : The Chief secretly reads these. Running Gag : Snaptrap throwing Larry into the shark tank. Chameleon trying to wear glasses. Hell, there is at least one running gag per-episode! Some examples are Kitty putting people to sleep with her talk about proper health in 'Bored of Education' and Dudley ending every description of how bad the Stinkbug smells with "in Atlantic City! When Larry complains that it isn't a real word and demands that Snaptrap use it in a sentence, Snaptrap responds by firing a ray gun at Larry's chair and saying "There. I schmoodled Larry. After Larry abandons D. They promptly haul tail and join Larry. It's really Snaptrap, even though he swears his name isn't Snaptrap backwards. Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness : Kitty is affected by this after her uncle gives her a word-a-day calendar. Serious Business : As seen in "Watch-Dog", getting the only chocolate donut in the breakroom is such for Dudley and Kitty. Everyone, everyone is obsessed with the Quacky the Duck show. The army even lets Dudley and Kitty walk out of an military base with a missile and a tank simply because Quacky asked for it. Even Kitty is just as into it as everyone else the only reason she stops is because Quacky "fired" her favorite character. Shapeshifting : The Chameleon, but only because of his suit. Shark Pool : Snaptrap has one in his lair, and he throws Larry to the sharks in most episodes. Ship Sinking : In "Dog Tired", when Dudley was in danger of falling asleep forever, the Chief made him dream about marrying Kitty, which Dudley considered a nightmare. Having her turn into bacon only made things worse in Dudley's book. Let's just say it wasn't received very well by the Kudley fanbase. Kitty and Dudley are shown to not be able to stand each other even more than usual and object to having to stage a wedding to capture D. Not to mention Larry hating the new name Snaptrap gave him: "Professor Pink". In the first Chameleon episode, at one point he turns into an anthropomorphic Model T Ford from Cars. At the end of "Flower Power", when Keswick becomes muscular, he takes a sword and rides on the back of a tiger, like He-Man from the Masters of the Universe franchise. One of D. M's members is a skunk, but no comment has ever been made of his smell. In "Law and Odor", one of the ingredients that the Stink Bug uses for his Air Unfreshener is a busload of skunks on their way from a garlic festival in Atlantic City. Kitty gets sprayed by the skunks twice, and in a later scene, is seen being lowered into a vat of tomato juice. Spaghetti Kiss : Sucking on the same strand of spaghetti is one of the ways Dudley tries to catch Keswick's cold so he'll be unable to smell the Stink Bug's stench in "Law and Odor". Inverted and played straight with Kitty Katswell. Speech-Impaired Animal : Birdbrain's henchmen, an owl who only says "Who? Speech Impediment : Keswick stutters, and Snaptrap has a lisp. Usually it's the last picture. Spy Catsuit : Kitty's usual outfit. Bonus points since she's, y'know, a cat. Strange Minds Think Alike : Maybe "schmoodled" is a real word, since it was used by people other than Snaptrap after he made up the word to cheat at scrabble in "Share-A-Lair". Honestly, it's one of the most used jokes in the show. The only real difference between the thought processes of T. F and D. M is that one thinks for good and the other thinks for evil. She destroys the muffins he gives to the citizens of Petropolis under the belief that they are poisoned, only for Keswick to confirm after the fact that the muffins weren't poisoned. After that, she again ruins a good deed by Snaptrap when she destroys the weather device he uses to make the weather sunnier during a rainy day at the beach. Kitty Katswell just about accepts that she is being unreasonably paranoid after Snaptrap opens a mall and invites everyone with the offer of free yogurt, but learns that her distrust of the legitimacy of Snaptrap's reformation was warranted after all when the mall turns out to be a ploy to round up everyone in Petropolis and shoot them into the sun. Dudley with Kitty Kitty Katswell is Dudley's partner. As his partner, she sees everyday what a reckless danger he can be to their operations. But Kitty knows that what The Chief says goes. So she does her best to train her puppy partner to be a hero. Dudley's relationship with Kitty starts out as a love-hate relationship, since they used to fight a lot like bickering siblings, then later in the show, they start to get along more and became heartfelt best friends. After a while, Kitty becomes more confident in Dudley's abilities and stops treating him as an annoying undesirable mutt and more like a good friend and equal. It is even rumored among many fans of the series that they have some sort of romantic relationship with each other. Dudley with Keswick When Dudley was hired by T. Keswick was also open to make best friends with Dudley. However, he also found him mildly annoying and extremely dimwitted. But due to Dudley's open attitude towards his fellow agents, as time passed, Keswick learned to tolerate him and his immature ways and they got along. As of now, they seem to share a light, friendly relationship. He would love to keep a closer eye on him, but Dudley's flea collar makes that harder than you'd think! But despite his frustration towards him, The Chief is actually hopeful of his abilities. The Chief is warming up to his new recruit more and more every day. Peg Puppy Dudley with his mother Dudley and Peg have a standard mother and son relationship. According to evidence in the series , it can be inferred that Dudley grew up without his father around. Therefore, Peg raised Dudley alone. She is extremely protective over him and puts safety over all else to the extent that it makes him dependent and gets in his way sometimes. However, Dudley is glad to be her son and agrees that she usually knows best. Dudley with Snaptrap Snaptrap is actually the most dangerous enemy for T. Dudley too. By some clues in the show, Snaptrap and his organization D. So, when Dudley became a T. Dudley seems to have a great dislike towards him that exceeds his dislike towards his other enemies. Dudley with The Chameleon. The Chameleon, or as Dudley used to say when he first read his name, the "Cham-ah-lee-on," is originally a nemesis of Kitty 's. It is shown that he thinks The Chameleon is creepy because of how his eyes are positioned and how they move. Near the end, though, Dudley accidentally spills his drink on her, causing Fifi to reveal her true identity as The Chameleon. Once, Dudley was assigned to take care of The Chameleon while on a train to Petsburg in order to protect him from D. Dudley need to endure The Chameleon's odd habits and bodily needs. It was then that The Chameleon attempted to befriend Dudley to which he responded negatively. Later in the episode, Dudley responded to his affection positively for a brief moment. Although unintentionally, Bird Brain preyed upon Dudley's faults the first two times they met. The first time is when he threatened to harm his mother Peg so that he could posses a powerful atomic bracelet that he created. The second time is when Bird Brain created a sound cannon which preyed upon Dudley's fear of thunder. However, unlike other villains, Dudley doesn't seem to treat Bird Brain as anything other than a usual enemy. He doesn't seem to find anything out of the ordinary about him at all. Please discuss this issue on the article's talk page. October T. Dudley Puppy voiced by Jerry Trainor is the heart and soul of T. Despite his lack of common sense he has been proven to be exceedingly clever relative to most puppies i. Keswick's DNA analysis shows that Dudley is the "perfect mix of every breed of dog known to man". Since each breed of dog has a special trait like a beagle 's appearance, a Bloodhound 's sensitive nose, a Greyhound 's speed, German Shepherd 's brave heart, the fighting abilities of a Chinese Fighting Dog Shar-Pei the buff chest and arms of an Alaskan Malamute , the French-speaking of a French Poodle , the leaping abilities of a Springer. Dudley also has bad habits of being gluttonous. Despite this eccentric personality, his bravery and advanced natural physical skills are an asset to T. He usually comes up with clever plans to stop his enemies, and he becomes more and more noble as time goes by. His catchphrase is "Hi gee gee", and he often says it whenever he's ready to jet out of the area. A running gag consists of the fact he reads poorly and cannot spell or write. However, there have been many times that Dudley has demonstrated that he has these abilities. In the episode "Snap Dad", it is revealed that Dudley's mother is still dating; the whereabouts of Dudley's father have not been revealed. She is also Dudley's partner and best friend. Skilled in various fighting styles and use of firearms, short-tempered, and easily startled, Kitty Katswell is a force to be reckoned with. A few episodes mention that her birthdays as a child have been horrendous, she spent eight years in Secret Agent College, and has a twin sister named Katty who is in jail. Being a cat, she naturally fought with Dudley who is a dog when he first joined the agency usually in an immature manner. However, as episodes progress, she becomes more affectionate to Dudley as he presents his courage, skill, nobility, and respect for her and T. Later they stop fighting and become heartfelt friends. She wears a dark gray spy suit over her white turtle neck, a matching white hairband, matching white gloves and matching white high-heeled boots. She occasionally gives into her animal instincts like chasing mice and birds, clawing things, or leaving dead mice on doorsteps. Chief Herbert Dumbrowski voiced by Daran Norris is a tough and strict but good-natured flea who is the leader of T. Subsequently, he's Dudley's employer and although he's usually getting angry at Dudley and yelling at him he seems to be somewhat proud of him as an agent. In "Internal Affairs", it is revealed that he used to be T. Keswick voiced by Jeff Bennett is the primary inventor and scientist of T. HQ, although whatever he invents is somewhat worthless due to the fact that it shoots acid, is too dangerous, or is just downright unpredictable. Many of his ray guns have weird results, to which he responds with frustration towards himself. Usually, when he speaks, he has a stutter. Dudley is somewhat close to him although Dudley finds him and his random abilities odd, making him curious about his species. Oddly enough, Keswick's species is simply the fictional "Keswick". Subsequently, it is shown that he has gills , webbed feet , looks like a labradoodle , wombat, or a prairie dog , and has the ability to lay eggs. In "Pup Daddy", it is shown that he goes through animal phases. In "The Doomies", it is shown that he is not on good terms with his parents and in "Dog Dish", it is revealed that he has a brother-in-law named Stan. This confirms he has a sister. In "Love Bird", it is known that his mom did not like him dating because relationships are a lot of work and that the girl will lose her girlish figure. In "Crusin' for a Brusin'", it is shown that he cannot sing well because of his stuttering. It is also revealed in "Thunder Dog" that he is exceedingly afraid of girls. In "True Spies", it is revealed that Keswick is an alien from Keswickia who is wanted by the Keswickian Police for cooking stinky fish at work, as his planet is very strict. Troopers are the foot soldiers of T. Also in T. Some of the minor members of T. Agent Ant is an ant T. Agent Anteater is an anteater T. Agent Bacon is a pig T. Agent that is seen in "Super Duper Crime Busters". It is implied that he has a hobby of knitting. Agent Big Bad Wolf is a wolf T. Agent Bossy is a cow T. She tends to surf the internet to find meat that would be insensitive to her. Agent Bull is a cattle T. Agent that is seen in "Happy Howl-O-Ween". He is based on the stereotype that bulls get angry when they see the color red. Agent Goldfish is a T. Agent who only appeared in "Thunder Dog" so far. She has a fear of toilets. Agent Groundhog voiced by Jeff Bennett is a T. Agent who first made a cameo in "Hot Dog". He resides under an office printer and is the one who tells about the end of winter. Agent Guinea Pig is a T. Agent who only appeared in "Candy Cane-Ine" so far. He was seen running on a hamster wheel. Agent Hammerhead is a hammerhead shark T. Agent who was first seen in "Puppy Unplugged". Agent who has a fear of mice which would result in her jumping up when she sees them and accidentally crushing anyone. Agent Kid is a goat T. Agent who was first seen in "Pup Daddy". He is known to eat cans including the ones that are in the recycling bin. Agent Moby voiced by Matt Taylor is a whale T. Agent who appeared in "A Doomed Christmas". Agent Mouse is a mouse T. Agent Nutz voiced by Jeff Bennett is a squirrel T. Agent who would always freak out about something completely random and blast it with his laser. Agent Scarecrow is a T. Agent that is not based on any animal. So far, he has only been seen in "Mom-A-Geddon". Agent Seabiscuit is a horse T. He is shown to be offended when somebody claimed that they can "eat like a horse". Agent Sea Cucumber is a T. Agent that appeared in "Acting T. Agent Skunk is a T. Agent that appeared in "T. Choices" where he is adverse to being waken up. Agent Snake is a snake T. Agent Three Little Pigs are three pig T. George Looney is a loon that works as a janitor at T. George Looney has so far been only seen in "Legal Beagle". Percival is a pig who used to work for Stink Bug until he got fired for giving away Stink Bug's evil stinky odor plan, but he works for T. Sally Mander is a salamander that works as a secretary at T. Her name is a pun on "salamander". Scary Jimmy is a bull that works as a janitor at T. He is a very suspicious and strange person. Scary Jimmy is implied to be somewhat of a shut-in, mentally unstable, paranoid and potentially harmful. He has stated that he can memorize the backs of people's heads. Tammy voiced by Grey DeLisle is a rabbit that works as a secretary at T. Despite being a rat, he is allergic to cheese which causes him to swell up. Like his nemesis Dudley Puppy, he is hyperactive, immature, and airheaded. However, unlike Dudley, he doesn't show intellectual potential. He is often easily frustrated when his fellow D. A running gag is Snaptrap throwing Larry, Dudley, Kitty, or others into his shark tank which never actually kills any of them. In "Operation: Happy Birthday", it is revealed that he still lives with his mother. Later on in "Dog Dish", it is revealed that his mother buys all of Snaptrap's evil gadgets. That same episode shows that he has a blog, and that he uses his gadgets for incredibly stupid plans such as sneaking into movie theaters. Although, on some occasions, he has shown to be able to do true evil, such as launching the entire town into the sun as seen in "Mall Rat" when he faked his reform. After most defeats, he shouts "I will now plot my revenge! In "Mind Trap", he is shown to go dumpster diving for food. The Chameleon voiced by Daran Norris impersonating Peter Lorre is a chameleon in a molecular transformation suit which allows him to shapeshift into virtually any disguise or inanimate object. In "Doom-mates", his name is pronounced "The Cham-a-leon" as a running gag he wanted to get revenge on Kitty Katswell by blowing her up nine times but Dudley heroically thwarted his evil plan, thus saving her. He talks in a Swedish accent and eats any bug he sees, a trait used against him several times. His relationship with D. He said he wanted to go to D. The Chameleon later teamed up with D. As a running gag, he often tries to wear some type of eyewear only to have his eyes go around or through them, as his chameleon eyes constantly bug around and look in separate directions, which creeps Dudley out, as seen in "Doom-Mates". He can sometimes be very random when disguised. Whenever he's in disguise, he tends to say random things relating to his disguise For example, in "Internal Affairs," disguised as General Warhog tells the soldiers "semper fi" and "remember the Alamo". Oddly, whenever the story has him using a disguise for a long time as a major plot point, his voice is never disguised, despite him being able to disguise it during the short disguises in other episodes although this may be because he experiences a sort of discomfort by mimicking voices, forcing him to do it rarely, but this is just speculation, and it has yet to be explained. Another oddity is that Dudley can never tell when the Chameleon is disguised or what he is disguised as, despite him having the sharp nose of a bloodhound possibly the Chameleon can disguise his smell, too. If the Chameleon is splashed with liquid while in disguise, his suit will short circuit and he will be forced to return to normal although he notes that it is only on the outside, as inside, it makes him feel bloated. Also, his suit is wired into his brain and if it is removed, he will have no choice but return to his normal form. Bird Brain voiced by Rob Paulsen is an evil blue-bottomed booby genius who can't fly with his wings something he always forgets. Despite his species name's origin which is from the Spanish word "bobo" or "stupid", he is more intelligent and competent than both Snaptrap and the Chameleon. Bird Brain seems to be quite intelligent and capable at his job. Like Snaptrap, he is very easily frustrated by his comrades, whom tend to be genuinely much more foolish than Snaptrap's smarter and more villainous gang. In "Thunder Dog" it is revealed that he is prematurely bald. In "A Doomed Christmas", it is revealed that although he looks old he is only .In "Hush Puppy", it is revealed that he lost his hair at a young age due to stress. Snaptrap's Henchmen or D. Despite being considered dim-witted by Snaptrap, Larry is the second smartest and most intelligent of his three main henchmen. Larry often infuriates Snaptrap by talking back to him or, on a few occasions, making mistakes, which results in him either getting blasted by a laser or thrown into the shark tank. In "Doom and Gloom", the recent abuse from Snaptrap and him not listening to Larry's advice not to tell T. While planning a plot to turn off Petropolis' power and cover the whole city in fog emitted from a fog machine, Larry had G. M's temporary headquarters in the sewing room owned by Snaptrap's mom. In "True Spies", it is revealed that Snaptrap actually doesn't hate Larry, but only mistreated him because he believes he has much potential to be malignant. Ollie voiced by Jeff Bennett is a sensible and smart British possum who is one of Snaptrap's main henchmen. Ollie is Snaptrap's voice of reason whom he often ignores. A recurring gag in the series is that Ollie is the one who accidentally gives Snaptrap something cheese related either forgetting about his boss's cheese allergy or Snaptrap idiotically forgetting it himself. Another gag involving him is that Ollie is the one who gives Snaptrap the ideas for his evil plans due to a misunderstanding that Snaptrap has already come up with a plan only to reveal it is just something he likes to do i. In "True Spies", it is revealed that Ollie is really French, but uses a British accent to make himself sound smart. Francisco voiced by Daran Norris is an alligator who is one of Snaptrap's main henchmen. He is also the only one of Snaptrap's henchman who seems to take villainy seriously. In "Dog Dish", he kept trying to convince Snaptrap to use the invisibility helmet for more evil deeds than sneaking into the movies. In "True Spies", it is revealed that Francisco's real name is Francesca because his parents wanted a girl. Bad Dog voiced by Daran Norris is a pit bull and one of Snaptrap's henchmen. He is often seen with a black torn sleeveless shirt with a skull on it similar to Punisher 's T-shirt. Bad Dog is often paired up with Leather Teddy. He stops appearing after the first season. Leather Teddy voiced by Eric Bauza is a leather clad blue bear and one of Snaptrap's henchmen that wears an eyepatch though the first episode shows that he still has an eye under the eyepatch. He wields bear traps on chains for weapons. Leather Teddy's outfit gives him the appearance of a biker. He is often paired up with Bad Dog. The Mole voiced by Matt Taylor is a mole agent who is Snaptrap's master of infiltration. Skunk is a skunk who is one of Snaptrap's henchmen. Strangely, he only appears in "Cruisin' with a Bruisin". Snaptrap is also shown to have other, unnamed minions over the course of the show, but they never have major roles, and eventually stopped appearing. Whenever Owl and Bat would say "Who? He and Bat are both very incompetent where he would often infuriate his boss by saying "Who? He and Owl are both very incompetent where he would infuriate his boss by saying "Where? Bat is suggested to be blind since he always seen wearing dark sunglasses although he occasionally does his job exactly as told implying that he has some vision and he is apparently slightly smarter than Owl. Bird Brain seems to like Bat more because at one point in "Thunder Dog", Bat did his job exactly as he was told without saying his usual "Where? He can speak in both duck and human languages. Whenever someone says his name, other people "duck" for cover because they think that something is coming right at them. In "Puppy Unplugged", it is revealed that his real name is "Skip", causing everyone to skip around happily. Fly is a small purple fly who is one of Bird Brain's henchmen as seen in "Bad Eggs" although he never signed the application, and is in fact just a housefly. When Bird Brain says his name, his henchmen start flying around him. When Bird Brain says his name, his henchmen start pecking him. Holy Cow is a cow who is another one of Bird Brain's henchmen. He was first seen in "Love Bird". His first appearance is when Bird Brain said "Holy cow! Recurring and one-off characters[ edit ] Other villains[ edit ] R. She stops Snaptrap and the Chameleon, but when Keswick attempts to unplug her because T. With the help of Keswick's hologram, Dudley makes her fall to her death on a cliff and into a lake. Some of her lines and actions suggest that she at least in part is a parody of the evil computer H. Snowflake and Slush voiced by Mary Birdsong and Dave Boat respectively are evil rabbit siblings who dress up as vegetables and cheat in events by eliminating and kidnapping the winners. Snowflake is the mastermind of the two, while Slush possesses little to no intelligence, who in his sister's words is "dumber than a box of hair" she should know, she used to skate with one, and claims it was smarter than him. Despite his immense stupidity, he is very competent with Snowflake's plan and when it is ruined, he is shown to be just as angry at the failure and desperate to escape as Snowflake is. Rabies and Madame Catastrophe voiced by Jerry Trainor and Grey DeLisle respectively are two villains who resemble Dudley Puppy and Kitty Katswell except that their evil twins wear eye patches and have goatees on their chins. They only appeared in "The Doomies". Mad Cow is an angry bull who first appeared in "Snap Dad" trying to escape from jail. Mad Cow's escape was a success at the time when Snaptrap was a T. Agent and dating Peg. His name is a reference to " mad cow disease ". Crazy Horse voiced by Daran Norris is a horse who uses chainsaws he even whinnies while using chainsaws. He ends up getting Snaptrap as his cellmate. His name is a reference to the Native American leader Crazy Horse. Kung Pow Chicken is a chicken talented in martial arts. Greedy, clever, arrogant, and dishonest, Jack attempted to lure Kitty into a trap so he could steal her information mostly to get money from Snaptrap , but was defeated by Dudley and Keswick. He and Snaptrap are arrested by Dudley and Keswick. He later attempted to woo Kitty who was actually Dudley, and had previously used a Brain-Swapping device on himself earlier into letting him steal the T. He was once again defeated, but it is likely he will return to plot his revenge on T. The Caped Cod voiced by Chris Parnell and later by Mick Wingert is a crazy cod who thinks he is the ruler of the seven seas, and thinks that Dudley is the king of the surface world and talks to inanimate objects at the bottom of the sea that he thinks are his subjects. He once tried to flood Petropolis but was stopped by Kitty and Dudley and was put in an aquarium for the criminally insane. His name is a reference to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In "Cold Fish", the Caped Cod escapes from his incarceration and tried to flood Petropolis again in order to make it part of his kingdom by melting the Riceberg Ice Bird Iceberg. He also did this to get revenge on Bryce Riceberg because she didn't invite him to her wedding which he did, and the Caped Cod just never read his mail. He later returned to his plan, as the Ricebergs were serving fish and they were best friends in middle school. The Caped Cod was once again defeated in the end. The Stink Bug voiced by Carlos Alazraqui is Petropolis' worst smelling villain who was kicked out of Petropolis for smelling so bad. He is very rude and cruel to his intern Percival who kept suggesting for Stink Bug to take a bath. Because of his very strong odor, Dudley's super sensitive snout made him powerless. When it came to stinking up Petropolis with a combined odor of the stuff he stole, Percival gave away the name of the Stink Bug's device causing Stink Bug to fire him and send him down the trap door. In order to combat Stink Bug Dudley caught Keswick's cold. Dudley defeated Stink Bug and was taken to jail by Percival. Lunch Lady Bug voiced by Candi Milo is a ladybug who worked as a lunch lady at Petropolis High School and makes disgusting food that only Dudley likes. When his show was cancelled, Quacky wanted to get revenge by blasting the TV Chairman with a nuclear missile with Dudley and Kitty tied to it. He was arrested by Dudley and his show is now in prison where he has Revenge Rabbit show viewers how to get revenge on the jury that convicts anyone. In "Lucky Duck", Quacky the Duck is released from prison and establishes a restaurant. In "Quack in the Box", he and Sharing Moose are released from prison and start a fast food chain. They try to get revenge on Dudley by framing him for taking out the competition against other fast food chains using action figures of characters from Quacky's show. However, his plan was discovered and he was stopped once again. He later appeared again in "Lights, Camera, Quacktion" when it was revealed that he lost his TV show and seek revenge on T. His plan almost worked, but was foiled by T. Quacky makes another appearance in "Quacky Birthday", where he wants to shut T. He pretends he has a party room for Dudley's birthday party. Because of that, Dudley lets him and the Sharing Moose to take things from stores without arresting them. Once the T. However, Dudley manages to save T. In "T. He was thwarted again by Dudley. When the game started to get deadly, T. Katty does this by swapping places with her own sister to steal 24 carat Golden Fishbowl from the Petropolis Art Museum exhibit in which Dudley and Kitty have assignments to protect this. Dudley didn't know that where his partner was swapped by Katty. Katty was eventually found out, ends up defeated by Dudley and Kitty, and is sent back to prison. The Weasel is a super diabolical villain. He targeted Dudley Puppy who had placed him in prison and Verminious Snaptrap who once impersonated him prompting Kitty Katswell to pose as their mother at Chief's version of a safe house. He did various attempts at Dudley and Snaptrap's lives which even included one where he went straight and gave them a jack-in-the-box bomb. After that attempt, Dudley and Kitty found the Weasel's house and were able to defeat him. The Weasel was imprisoned and became a cellmate of Snaptrap who was also arrested for looting the Weasel's house. The Rumble Bee is the older, and more evil, brother of Wanna-Bee. In "Snap Dad", she's shown to not have her husband after Dudley's father married her which means she's either divorced or widowed. She somewhat resembles and even sounds like her daughter. In the episode "Diary of a Mad Cat", the Chameleon disguises himself as Kitty's mom and reveals that Kitty has a sister named Katty who is a criminal. Little is an unnamed, anthropomorphic young chipmunk who was a running gag throughout the episode "Mall Rat". She is depicted as being adorably innocent and sweet and her main purpose throughout the episode was to tug at Dudley's shirt after every time Kitty thwarted one of Snaptrap's unusual acts of kindness towards the townspeople and ask why Kitty performed the action that destroyed Snaptrap's most recent contribution. She also made an appearance in "Bored of Education" where members T. F appeared at an elementary school during "Career Day" in hopes of influencing the pupils to one day join either side. Betty was rocked by the change in her world - she just wanted to disappear despite how kind everyone was to her. We knew from the moment we met Betty that her rehabilitation would take longer than most. Dogs take on so many roles for their human companions. They are our best friends, training partners, sleep aids, therapists, nurses, adventure buddies. Before Betty can become those things for her person, she will need them from her person. We know deep down there is a loyal and loving companion inside of Betty - she just needs the chance to feel safe and relax enough to let it surface. Despite the big changes around her, Betty has been nothing but sweet. She loves keeping busy with stuffed bones and hanging out with her doggy pals. She will need a physically fenced in yard to keep her safe while she is outside and where she can slowly learn to be on leash. We are so excited to watch Betty transform from reserved to resilient!
