While there are more active dog breeds out there, these canines are best for those that are quite active. They need at least two medium-to-long walks per day. Many of these are due to the inbreeding that occurred early in the breed, which made some previously rare traits more common. Without the appropriate amount of exercise, they can easily become destructive. In fact, most of the destructive behavior associated with a German Shepherd is due to a lack of stimulation.
