Wheat, straw, by-products of cereals, pulps, and other things are added to increase the amount of fiber. However, at the same time, this composition helps puppies with stomach issues or other digestive problems. Dogs big and small love it to an insane level. What about mixing dry and wet foods? Dry and wet foods could be mixed in appropriate amounts. You should take care of the portion or size of the meal that these two would make up together. For example, the food could contain too much salt. When a puppy ingests that much, it could lead to severe seizures, muscle spasms, vomiting, stomach upsets, and fever. Some foods are toxic for a Golden Retriever puppy. Therefore, avoid onions, raw potatoes, chocolate, cocoa powder, cocoa, caffeine, garlic, dough that contains yeast or otherwise, grapes, avocado, raisins, nuts, fruit seeds or unripe fruits, veggies, unripe tomatoes, mushrooms, and spoiled food. That will save you and your pup from a lot of serious conditions. For example, onions have a compound that leads to anemia. The same could be found in garlic. Or, raw potatoes have solanine that causes digestive problems or symptoms associated with solanine poisoning, which may also include increased heartbeat, throat burning sensation, eczema, headaches, and so on that could lead to potential hospitalization. The same is present in green tomatoes. Excessive urination, as a result, could cause canine dehydration. But how much water is enough? According to the American Kennel Club , give your pup an ounce of water for a pound of its weight. So, if the pooch is 25 lbs, ideally it should consume 20 to 25 ounces of water daily. You could either put this much water in a separate bowl or mix it well with kibble. Note the time it takes for the blood to return to that spot. You could also note it from how fast the skin of its scruff returns to its original place when you put it down after picking it up from there. Any other liquid may not be well suited to its health. Say a big NO to processed fruit juices. However, you can still feed whole fruit juices. My Milo loves fresh apple juice. But I do take care in not overfeeding him that every day. For example, too much orange juice has the same effect on the puppy as drinking soda. The extra sugars would cause havoc. When fed moderately, whole fruit juices are a great source of nutrition and hydration. I either choose apple juice or coconut water. Still, I prefer fruits instead of drinks for my labradoodle pup, Milo. It could contain Salmonella — a bacteria that are notorious for causing food poisoning. Diarrhea, vomiting, decreased appetite, and lethargy is some of the symptoms that may arise. If they stay for long, dehydration could ensue. Raw eggs are another risk factor for Salmonella infection. Some vets recommend only feeding egg whites as a rich source of nutrition. They have vitamins and fatty acids. But they also have cholesterol. Cholesterol has a bad name for contributing to heart diseases. Still, according to PetMD , it could cause diabetes. That was a bit too much for me when I was deciding whether I should feed Milo full eggs. To remove even a thread of confusion, I completely removed the yolks. That, too, only moderately. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they will alert you of strangers at the door, they tend to warm up quickly as they are more interested in making friends and receiving attention. Mini Goldendoodles are highly adaptable dogs. Their smaller size makes them a great fit for apartment living or for bigger homes with yards where they can run. As long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention, they can adapt well. These little dogs tend to do well in just about any climate. However, like any dog, they are sensitive to heat. Due to their smaller size, you may need to gear up with some dog-friendly winter gear when temperatures start falling. Because this dog breed is loyal and people-oriented, they love to be in your company and do not like being left alone for long periods of time. This means they can be prone to developing separation anxiety if you do not work with them on it early on. Instead, make sure your new Mini Goldendoodle puppy has an active role in your life. If you do need to leave them alone for a bit, make sure they have some comforting toys or challenging puzzles to keep them from getting bored. Daily brushing is recommended to remove tangles and prevent mats. Bathing is occasional and can often be relegated to the dog groomer that is recommended you visit every weeks. The groomer can help handle some of this during visits, but you will still need to do some maintenance at home between visits. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed help prevent ear infections. Daily brushing, plus cleanings at the vet as needed, is good dental care for dogs and can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. Although the parents of this breed have a lot of energy, a Mini Goldendoodle tends to sit in a more moderate activity range. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are usually enough for them. But, they are also likely to match their energy level to yours, so be prepared for some bursts of energy as well as plenty of cuddling on the couch. One such option that is often the subject of debate is the short haired Golden Retriever. Although many people will say they saw these dogs, others claim that it is simply not possible for the Golden Retriever to have short hair. This breed is one of the ten most popular dog breeds globally besides German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Bulldog, Boxer, etc. Their hair may be wavy or straight, depending on the genes. The thicker feathers remain mostly on the chest, thighs, belly, and tail. There are three common colours found in pure Golden Retrievers: light golden, golden, and dark golden. In general, their colors may be a little brighter or darker than the standard ones, but they are still on the list of pure dog breeds. You may see a strange Golden Retriever with a black coat sometimes. Usually, Golden Retrievers are preferred by those who love vigorous exercises. He enjoys swimming, too. Long coats are common in this breed, causing a moment of pause when someone comes across a Goldie with a shorter coat. As has been said, Golden Retrievers belong to the long hair breed because they have a very long and dense coat. However, there is nothing to ask all the Golden Retrievers to have this feature. Some Golden Retrievers can be found with short hair, but they are confirmed to be the standard one when they are tested. In these cases, they have the key in their genes. They may have some genetic variation that makes them a short-haired coat compared to the same dog breed. However, you must know that this is a very rare case. They Could Be Another Breed. So you can be cheated, or you can get the wrong dog breed. Labrador Retriever First and foremost, despite being part of the same Retriever, the Labrador has very short hair. They have three official colors: yellow, chocolate, and black. There are also fox red and polar white colors, but they are not recognized as pure. The Labrador is heavier than the Golden 65 to 80 pounds 55 to 75 pounds. The Labrador has a life expectancy of about 10 to 12 years, almost the same as the Golden 10 to 13 years. One more thing you can see is that despite having short hair, the Labrador has shed a lot of hair all year round, while the Golden has just shed a small amount of hair in a season. Purebred Golden Retriever puppies are quite expensive, and given their similarities, it would be easy to offer puppies as purebred when they are a mixed breed so make sure that you are talking to a reputable breeder. If you are unsure about your Golden, you can have your vet run a test to see what their DNA says. These tests will tell you if you have a purebred dog or not. A less expensive option is to order a canine DNA test kit Amazon and do it at home. Results are usually available after a few weeks. Shaving Your Golden Retriever If you are looking for a short-haired Golden because you are worried about shedding, you might be tempted to shave a typical long-haired Golden. However, that is absolutely not recommended. Dogs with double coats have quite sensitive skin. Their coats protect them from the sun, irritation, and bug bites and, without it, will leave them vulnerable to hot-spots and other ailments. Double coats are waterproof and help to regulate body temperature. Even in the summer, Goldens need their coats. When properly groomed, it will insulate them in the winter and keep them cool in the warmer months. The undercoat and the top coat grow at different speeds. If you shave the topcoat, it will take a long time to grow through, if at all. It is not uncommon to see the undercoat become brittle and dry when no longer protected by the topcoat. If the excessive shedding is a major concern to you, then it may be advisable to do more research and find a dog that will better suit your needs. Unfortunately, Labradors will shed an equal amount as they have a double coat too. Though they do have a shorter coat, chances are you will need to brush just as often, and they shed twice a year in the same way Goldens do. Much like Golden Retrievers, the longer-haired Doodle will need grooming every six weeks or so, but their shedding will generally be much less.
