We also attended and graduated from Christian schools which was another way my mom wanted to assure us of a happy future, with Christ at the center of our lives. It was a mother and her son. Venus, the mother, was a gorgeous, loving, elegant, and petite Standard Poodle. Her son, Keegan, on the other hand, still just a puppy, was a huge combination of fun, personality, intelligence and striking good looks. We were surprised that we fell in love with the Standard Poodle and the Westie, because our favorite breeds had always been the Collie and Sheltie mini collie. Mama groomed Keegan and Venus every few weeks and also trained Keegan. As a result the two were in the shop and in our home on a regular basis. Keegan would come and stay just because we loved him. We grew to love their more confident, protective nature and large size, in comparison to the Shelties. A huge plus in comparing the breed to the Collie, was no shedding or odor. These qualities and the intelligence and loyalty of Keegan and Venus, convinced us this was a breed worth sharing with everyone. This was not always easy for my mom, as a single parent, or for us, as two young girls. But we had lots of support and help from our family, friends, and great employees. In true puppy fashion, Koumori is also a mouthy little thing—she will chew on fingers and the occasional electric cord if left to her own devices. Fortunately, this unwanted behavior can be successfully redirected to a toy. Indeed, Koumori loves her toys, and is particularly fond of her stuffed baby dragon. She can often be seen proudly carrying it down the hall, stopping on occasion to give it a good shake and a little what-for. Unleashed, she gets along famously with cats and dogs alike—she even lets the neighborhood kitty rub up against her! On-leash, however, Koumori becomes loud and pushy er, pull-y when she sees other animals. In any event, until Koumori makes some progress on this front, she is not a good candidate for the office, and care must be taken when she goes out for her daily walks. She is a house dog, has free run of the whole house and there are no more puppy shenanigans of stolen or chewed shoes, etc. If we go out for the day, she takes care of the house, everything is in perfect shape when we get back. She knows to stay off beds and sofas, even when we are gone. He is drop dead handsome, loves people of all ages without regard to skin color, facial hair or anything else. He gets along great with other dogs, and even has maintained a good relationship with our barn cat. He does not have ball drive but makes up for it with stick drive, food drive, and drive to catch frogs and squirrels. They could also break a tooth by chewing on something too hard. This is why I always tell my student to be careful about what they allow their dogs to chew on. Signs your Bulldog has a chipped or cracked tooth. Eating on one side of his mouth. Not eating hard food. Not chewing on his favorite chew toys. Swelling in his face or gums. Excessive drooling. Pawing or itching as his face or mouth. Not wanting or letting you touch his face. Broken or chipped teeth can cause your Bulldog serious pain and problems with an infection later on. The severity of the broken or chipped tooth will dictate the course of treatment. Your vet will do an assessment and suggest a course of action.
