Physical Condition Even though these figures are universal amongst Labradors, it can be challenging to decide whether your Labrador is healthy solely based on weight. Although food allergies tend to target the skin, coat, and digestive system more than the respiratory system, they can still cause sneezing in affected dogs. To manage a food allergy, try giving your dog foods with other protein sources and high-quality ingredients. Eventually, you are sure to find the right choice for their needs. Inhalation of a Foreign Object When dogs sniff items, those items may sometimes get lodged in the nasal passage. This is not a very common problem, but it can occur, especially when a dog has recently been checking out smaller objects like broken pieces of their toys. If you think your dog might have inhaled a foreign object, take them to the emergency vet immediately. They may have something blocking their airway, or the problem might simply be in her nose. Either way, they will need to have the item removed by a medical professional, and they will need to be checked for other signs of issues as well. Nasal Tumor If your dog has a nasal tumor, they may develop a frequent, ongoing sneeze that worsens with time. The bigger the tumor gets, the more likely it will be to cause them to sneeze. They may also have other upper respiratory symptoms as the tumor grows, including wheezing, coughing, and a runny nose. When he does this his trachea, or windpipe, narrows, making it more difficult for him to draw in air and you will probably notice that his chest expands as he tries to inhale more. Unfortunately, it can look as if your pug is having a seizure. It may also seem to you that he is inhaling sneezes and choking on them, hence the term reverse sneezing. A bout of reverse sneezing typically lasts anything from a few seconds to about two minutes, and your pug should be fine once it stops. Causes The irritants that cause reverse sneezing may vary from dog to dog, but in general they are the irritants associated with allergies, such as dust, pollen, household cleaners and perfumes. Too much excitement from play or exercise might also trigger an episode, as might eating or drinking too rapidly. In general, you won't need to take your pug to see his vet about reverse sneezing, but if the bouts become more frequent it is a good idea to get the vet to check for any other underlying causes that might need treatment, such as an allergy. Helping Your Pug When your pug has an attack of reverse sneezing, the best thing you can do is talk to him calmly and stop him from getting more excited. Each of our adult Standard Poodles get groomed every 8 to 10 weeks, so the grooming is a never-ending cycle. Then moms and puppies are let out into their yards and exercise runs to potty and play all day. We are so blessed to have Darlene. She is pictured below with her beloved Raven. Erica begins her day with a quick hands-on inspection of all the babies. She gives medication, routine wormers and vaccines. Erica weighs and individually identifies each puppy with different colors of fingernail polish the day they are born. For three weeks all our Standard Poodle puppies are weighed every day. All of that attention to babies must have affected her, because in early , Erica gave birth to a beautiful baby girl that looks like a china doll. Her name is Kaelyn.
