In fact, Max has picked that laid back attitude from Zeus. My parent's thought he would be ripping and roaring around but honestly he doesn't, he lays around. He is getting to work and play with puppies of all sizes, though most four month old pups are not 51 pounds. As you can see and to our delight, he is so very gentle with the small pups and plays hard with the pup his size or bigger and older. Griz is a smart pup, he has been working on his pointing exercise, release and other basic obeidence. I'm getting trained right along with him, i make more mistakes than he does. We are clicker training him and he has responded to it fast. As for Lake Erie, it's his swimming pool. He took to the water like a walleye, although I let him do it on his own, not forcing him. While this sounds disconcerting, it merely means that this is the time that many puppies begin to show fear towards new things, rather than curiosity. Things that the puppy may find scary or uncertain during this time can make for big changes in their personality throughout life. For example, if a puppy has a bad experience with a human at this stage, it may lead them to becoming fearful and distrustful towards people for the rest of their life. This is why gently exposing the puppies to humans and common sights and sounds beforehand is important. By preemptively socializing the puppies with humans, we can help this period run smoother. They treated him there for an ear infection and some mild skin inflammation which he has long recovered from. We did notice cloudiness in both eyes and were diagnosed with cataracts. Surgery was done to remove them and has recovered well but will need 2 different eye drops for life. He can be very playful with other playful dogs and loves to play fetch, or, can cuddle up next to you just as well. Walks are his favorite activity. He is also good with calm, friendly smaller dogs. He has not been around cats. With children, he does better with 12 years and older. Leon becomes attached to his human and will follow them like a shadow. He can be a little stubborn and will growl and snap at times when disciplined or if bumped while sleeping. He has been adopted twice and returned for this reason.
