This lack of sufficient blood leads to a brittle femur thigh bone which can fracture quite easily. It causes lameness in the back legs and pain. Surgery is often required. Heart Disease Like many breeds, the Fox Terrier is prone to heart disease. In fact, this is the leading cause of death in older Fox Terriers.
