However, if your puppy is acquired deaf, it may lose its hearing later in life. There are a few things you can do to check if your puppy is deaf. Hearing and vision loss can progress at a faster rate than changes in behavior. If our dog is selective in hearing or behaves strangely, we may suspect he is engaging in a pattern of behavior. Dogs of any age, gender, or breed may experience hearing loss. When a person does not recall clearly, this is frequently the first indication that they are hearing impaired. The symptoms of an ear infection may manifest in all parts of the ear. Infections can progress to the middle and inner ear if the eardrum is crossed. As ear hairs become clogged, dogs with too much hair may develop hearing loss. Puppy deafness typically manifests itself in puppies between the ages of 6 weeks and 8 months. If you suspect your dog has hearing loss, see a veterinarian. If you are deaf, you can be diagnosed with it by taking a non-invasive test that measures brain activity in response to sound.
