We are a small breeder located in Southeast Iowa. We come from large families that believes that our dogs should be treated like family. Long ago we fell in love with golden retrievers, and our goal is to fill your home with the same love that has filled ours. Our dogs are a huge part of our family and spend many hours together with us. We live in the country, so our dogs are well accustomed to other people and have plenty of room to rumble and play! They are full of so much love and joy! Our puppies spend quality time playing with our nieces and nephews, and we find this makes an amazing well-rounded pet. They are used to being loved on, carried around, and cuddled. We want to give you the best family member possible. Our puppies come with a one-year health guarantee, registerable with AKC, vaccines that are age appropriate. Don't miss out on your chance to get a true family member added to your family! Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions. Walker Hollow Golden Retrievers. One or both of this puppy's parents have undergone genetic testing. One or both of this puppy's parents are hip certified. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. When it comes to adopting any animal from a pet store, there is an increased risk of unforeseen health or genetic problems. You also cultivate a life-long relationship with the breeder, meaning support is available to you anytime you may need it. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. Goldens sport a double-coat, which ensures that these sweet pups are able to tolerate slightly colder temperatures than their friends from other breeds. Your pup deserves better than that, which is why here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we ensure high-quality care is taken of your pet at all times. For more about the true price of a golden retriever puppy, you can read our full price breakdown here. Location Information for Iowa Customers Our home office is located in Ohio, but we understand that long-distance travel can be inconvenient. If you prefer to meet a breeder in person, they may be able to offer private visits at their home. Of course! Here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we value family and authenticity, which is why we always guarantee our pups through our 2-year genetic health guarantee. Like adopting a Golden Retriever from a pet store, there is an increased risk when adopting a pup from a rescue center or shelter as well. For example, pups purchased through a shelter or rescue center are far less likely to come with the kinds of health guarantees and reassurances that a breeder can provide. How do I know which breeders to trust in Iowa? Our independent network of trusted breeders have already been pre-screened and verified, so that you can focus on what really matters: choosing your dream puppy. Be the first to know when we have new puppies! All Rights Reserved. Contact Us Welcome First and most importantly, each of our English Golden Retrievers are an integral part of our family. They live in our home, sleep in our beds and are treated like Royalty. According to the dictionary, to treat with royalty means: treating someone or something extravagantly or with elaborate attention and care. It is our pleasure to introduce you to our family, our passion and our dogs. Because our dogs are part of our family, we often take them with us as much as we can. They enjoy playing with the kids, going to cross-country meets and ball games, hiking trails at the park, participating with the kids in 4-H at the local fair, going on walks, riding in the car and a few have been or are currently therapy dogs at the local school. Our goal is to be as loyal, loving and nurturing to our dogs as they are to us because they bless us everyday in so many ways. Second, for one of our dogs to be chosen to breed they must be genetically sound, have a pedigree with healthy lines and have a wonderful temperament. In order to produce the healthiest puppies, each of our adult English goldens go through the OFA certification process for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. A few of our dogs have been certified through PennHIP evaluations as well. We also do genetic testing so we can avoid certain conditions such as ichthyosis that could be genetically passed down from parents to their offspring Puppies are Our Passion Puppies are our passion. One of our biggest rewards in raising puppies is the frequent smell of puppy breath and getting to know their furever families. We ensure our litters of puppies are treated like royalty just as our adult dogs. They are nurtured, given an endless amount of affection and spoiled with love. Because they are raised in our home, they are exposed to the sights, sounds, and smells of a busy household. We provide neurological stimulation and introduce them to a variety of toys, textures, surroundings and people. We find that acclimating puppies at a young age helps them develop into well-adjusted, confident, calm and loving family companions. We love the priceless contributions puppies have made to our family and want you to enjoy the same memorable lifelong experiences with your new dog. Our puppies come with dew claws removed, wormed, have their first vaccinations, are micro-chipped, vet checked and limited AKC registration papers. If you are interested in a puppy, we recommend submitting an application right away to get put on our waiting list. Brandy was our first American female, and our three kids best friend. She had a great disposition, was kind hearted and gentle with kids. After her passing we took a day trip to watch a local dog show and we fell in love with two english cream goldens that were training for therapy work. They were show stoppers! Their dark round eyes stood out against their beautiful cream-colored wavy coat and we fell in love immediately. Rudy was our first male and was everything we dreamed of. He came from a champion pedigree, had great conformation, a calm loving disposition and a desire to please which helped him earn his therapy license. At age two, Rudy joined me as the therapy dog in my 5th-6th science classroom and a year later in my kindergarten classroom. In we purchased our first female, Emma, who is full of love and a perfect dog mom. She is a puppy at heart, loves to talk to anyone who comes into our home and has mothered puppies other than her own, kittens and guinea pigs. At age 13 and 14 they are both very healthy and enjoy retired life. Rudy enjoys going on walks and getting spoiled by Grandma Cathy and Aunt Mary. Emma thrives on attention and helping new litters of puppies learn how to play. Rudy and Emma have been the perfect foundation of our breeding program and continue to be an important part of our family. When I first reached out to him, he was very quick with a response and easy to communicate with. He truly takes great pride in his pups and is very helpful to answer any questions that may arise. I brought Bear home with me on Dec 16 and he was nice, clean, and healthy upon pick up. Arsalaan provided Bear's list of shots as well as his pedigree and some other additional documents. You will not be disappointed working with him, highly recommend him and his family to help you bring home your newest family member! Mitchell K. Very responsible breeder, I came from Arizona and couldn't be happier. Very helpful before and after receiving my puppy. I highly recommended. Jimmy M. I am so grateful for all of the help I got from Arsalaan, and we also appreciate him following up on our puppy "Rexie". He's given us great advice even before we decided to get Rexie. Although he's up north about a 90 minute drive from us, it was definitely worth it. He kept our puppy even after her 8 weeks we couldn't bring her home because it was a Christmas gift. When I took Rexie to her first vet visit the vet said " this breeder definitely knows what he's doing ". Rexie came with up to date vaccinations and AKC forms paid for just have to finish writing them up. Our new family member is a happy and healthy puppy! Plus she sleeps through the night quietly from day one. Amazing Thank you Arsalaan. Our home is located in Southern California on 3 acres nestled in the hills just north of the Temecula Wine Country. That said, while it can be done, I strongly urge anyone who lives in an apartment to think carefully about how much time and work it can be to keep a large, working dog in an apartment. I will not sell a puppy to anyone who lives in an apartment and leaves the dog home alone all day. At least one person needs to be home during the day. The dog needs to be taken outside to play at least once a day and taken for potty breaks many times EVERY day. Also, please check with your apartments rules on German Shepherds; some complexes do not allow them. New strains of the Parvo Virus are abundant and it is my job to keep puppies safe. I use a high titer Parvo Vaccine at 4 weeks but this may not protect all puppies. So please understand as much as you would like to visit with your puppies as they grow I can no longer allow this until they are 7 weeks. I will send out emails with pictures or videos weekly. No outside dogs are allowed at anytime. Thank you for understanding how important it is for me to keep the puppies safe. If you do visit other breeders, please do so on a different day that you visit. Von Ward Kennels will take back any puppy at any time in their lives if their owners can no longer care for them. Please never take a Von Wards dog to a shelter if you can no longer keep them. While most of our dogs are larger than the standard, we do have a couple of breeding females that are within standard.

I was adopted out from Valley Animal Center as a puppy but was returned a few years later when my owners were moving and couldn't keep me. Each year, I turn older and older as I wait for my furever home. I love to play with toys and absolutely adore when people give me attention and love. I'm generally a calm boy who would love to just lay with you on the couch and be smothered in love. Of course, I enjoy a good play time that has me using all my energy! Male dogs it takes me a while to adjust. I do require a meet and greet with other dogs that i will be going home with and come with some skills i learned from my dog trainer. If you have treats and a pool, we'd be best friends! I'm also the pawfect dog to take out on little trips down the lake or anytime you want to explore the outdoors! His love and compassion for Boxers was felt by those who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Ken loved sports and spending time with friends. He also collected sports memorabilia and other collectibles like Hot Wheels. He truly loved Milo, featured in the the photo with him. Every time we received a message from him he included a picture of him and Milo. He never gave up hope that some treatment would be the ultimate cure. He worked as long as he could and made his journey to the light in late June. His weakened system just couldn't fight any longer. He will be deeply missed by WCBR, and we wish his family peace with his loss. Thank you to so many who have donated to WCBR in his memory. Ken will forever be in our hearts. We need your help. The number of Boxers being surrendered by families and in the shelters is overwhelming. We continue to receive owner surrenders a week, along with multiple pleas from surrounding shelters for Boxers in need. So many Boxer are coming from families that are no longer able to financially care for them, just don't want them, many are dealing with illness or the Boxer's pet parent has passed away, and many just are moving. Without the funding or foster homes, sadly we have to turn away these surrenders. Please Foster, Fund or be a Forever Home. Welcome to the Modesto, California page on TrustedPuppies. Petey Donor Spotlight: Doreen Murotsune For many of us who give our hearts, time, or dollars to rescue, we are first inspired by the love of a single special dog. Hana belonged to friends of Doreen, but Doreen and her boxer, Benjamin, fell in love with her. Benjamin and Hana were best friends, and Benjamin was always on the lookout for Hana and ready to protect her from any yappy Chihuahua who tried to intimidate her. In addition to being an active Strut Your Mutt teammate for each of the past 5 years, Doreen browses the boxers in our care and sponsors many dogs whose stories warm her heart. She not only sponsors dogs with single or repeat financial gifts, but also inquires about dogs with prescription diet needs and then purchases those diets on an autoship schedule, having the food mailed directly to foster homes. What a great day! He came to us with a birth defect. When he was born part of his right front leg was non-functional. Shortly after birth, he lost that part and ended up with a non-functioning partial limb that limited his activities. After discussing the options for this fearless pup with our veterinarian and orthopedic surgeon, we decided it was best to amputate the limb. He now gets around just like any other puppy, zoomies and all. He is now in his loving home of a previous adopter and is the sweetest, happiest Golden ever! We thank Michelle and her family for giving him a forever home. Welcome home, Cooper! His eyes were so bad he was virtually blind and had lumps all over his body. Twelve weeks of strong antibiotics and steroids made him better. A few months later he was diagnosed with Grade 4 "Luxating Patella" his knee cap attached to the side of his leg in both his back legs. Due to his agehe was not able to have surgery until his bones matured and this made him quite crippled. On July 2, he was able to have his first surgery. The vet said it was much worse than expected. A lot of taking out bone, cutting bone, making a new groove and pinning. Also, muscle and tendons had to be cut and re-attached. He was in pain and needed rehab times a day but he was a strong, happy boy. He will never be totally normal but he should not be crippled. He had weeks of rehab and then got to do it all over again with his other leg. All in all, he was in therapy and rehab for almost 5 months. Cody will be at GoldenStock. Please come out and see him The Amazing 16 In December of I got a call about 16, 4 month old golden puppies needing help. The woman had three females and one male and the females all gave birth within a few days of each other. She was able to sell nine of the puppies but could not afford to feed the rest. She was feeding them oatmeal because it was cheap and filling. We drove to Miles City to pick them all up in minus 10 degree temps. Eventually they were all placed in loving homes. One girl, we almost missed as she was hiding under a chair, had hair full of ice and was shivering cold. We put a red ribbon around her and named her Fenway. So please come out and meet her at Goldenstock, as she found her forever home with us! Thank you Nancy and Mike! We offer many services like doggie day care, boarding, and grooming. We have answers. What's the most interesting thing about Golden Retriever puppies for sale near Helena? Golden Retrievers are known for their bright personalities and loyal, loving nature, but something unique about them is their inherent intelligence. Golden Retrievers are often recognized as one of the most intelligent dog breeds due to their ability to easily learn commands and their eagerness to please their owners. Furthermore, their intelligence allows this breed to excel in many activities, such as retrieving, agility, and even search and rescue. Additionally, even more remarkable is the Golden Retriever's loving and calm demeanor, which makes them excellent family pets. With Golden Retriever puppies for sale in Helena, what is their coat like? The Golden Retriever is known for having a beautiful, thick, and luxurious coat. It is a dense double coat that consists of a medium-length, water-repelling outer coat of harsh texture, and a fine, dense undercoat. The coat may be straight, wavy, or somewhere in between, depending on the individual dog. Generally Golden Retriever coats come in the colors of gold, cream, and red. Golden Retrievers have tightly-fitted coats that may need occasional brushing, but for the most part don't require a lot of upkeep. What should I feed Helena Golden Retriever puppies for sale? Golden Retrievers are an energetic dog breed that require an appropriate diet to maintain their active lifestyle. A high-quality dry dog food that is specially formulated for their size and activity level is a great choice to provide them with the essential proteins, vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates they need. For optimal nutrition, the food should be composed of real animal proteins such as chicken, beef, or lamb, plus wholesome grains such as barley, wheat, and oatmeal. Do Golden Retriever puppies in Helena have any kind of special requirements? Golden Retrievers are known as one of the most popular and beloved breeds of dogs. While generally healthy, Golden Retrievers do have some special requirements for their health and wellbeing. These requirements include regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom, obesity, and destructive behavior, as well as a healthy diet and routine veterinary check-ups to monitor their overall health. Additionally, Golden Retrievers need daily brushing and grooming with a brush that is specifically designed for their type of coat to help remove dead hair and reduce the need for bathing. How fast do Golden Retrievers for sale in Helena grow? It is hard to predict exactly how big a Golden Retriever puppy will be, as there are many factors that influence their growth. The angry behavior of the owners, and the scary attitudes of the guests and the visitors. Socialize your dog so that visitors do not become a source of their fear. Attention seeking Attention-seeking is an instinct in German Shepherds. When the owner does not pay attention to them, GSDs start crying to seek attention from their owners. Pay attention to your dogs and spend much of your time with them. Hunger If a German Shepherd is not provided a meal or snacks at its proper time, he starts crying. This crying is just to notify the owner he is hungry. Provide well-balanced and nutritious meals at regular intervals on a daily basis for your dog. Boredom If your German Shepherd has nothing to do or he is not doing any activity for a long time, he will get bored. GSDs are very active, energetic, and watchful dogs. They need to be exercised on a regular basis. Excitement In case of excitement, a GSD can also cry. This is an instinctual behavior of your German Shepherd to show his feeling of joy and happiness. Always check with your vet but there is no need for medication if this is just part of their personality. Punishment If you discipline your dog for doing something then you will probably hear your dog cry because it feels punished. Separation Anxiety The most common issue a German Shepherd is facing is separation anxiety. When you leave your beloved pet alone and leave home, he will get worried. GSDs love being with their owners. Stress Stress can also cause crying and it can be of various kinds. It can be management-related, environmental, or physical. Stress can be a lack of feed, water, and other such necessities. It involves regular grooming as well. Environmental includes temperature management. GSDs love not only their owners but also the other dogs. If GSDs feel that any of their fellow dogs or their owner is disturbed and is in discomfort, GSDs also start crying to show sympathy to them about their discomfort. Missing pack member After the walk or during the normal routines, if GSDs will find anyone missing from their pack, GSDs will start crying very loudly. This is an alarm for the owner as well. Dogs new to being crated may whine or cry because they are not accustomed to the confinement. And puppies, recently separated from their littermates, are often confused and lonely and will vocalize to call for their mother and siblings. Dogs, and especially puppies, are social and want nothing more than to be with their "pack. But how do you get a puppy to stop whining in his crate? The truth is: you may not be able to completely curb whining behavior in puppies, but there are ways to minimize it. Tip 1: The top tip to help cut down on your puppy whining in his crate is to completely ignore the whining behavior. If you do that, most puppies will simply stop whining for attention because it doesn't give them results. One of the biggest mistakes that owners of new puppies make is giving their puppies attention or taking their puppies out of the crate once the whining begins. Any type of attention will just reinforce the behavior. That includes negative attention, such as you reprimanding them. You should avoid giving attention or taking a puppy out of the crate until he is quiet. That way, you are reinforcing the behavior of -not- whining. Being quiet and calm is the only way they're released from the crate, therefore they will learn to be quiet and calm in the crate. Tip 2: Picking the right-size crate is more important than most people think. The crate must be large enough that the pup can stand up, turn around and play with toys, but not so large that they feel comfortable using the restroom on one side of the crate and being able to move to the other side to avoid it. You will have to buy crates minimum to keep up with a puppy's rapid growth, or consider a model with a divider. Expensive, but totally worth it. A correctly sized crate will stop them from using the bathroom in it, and will give them enough space to occupy themselves, thus reducing how much they whine in the crate. Tip 3: Get your puppy comfortable with the crate. Familiarizing your puppy with his crate is another way to help cut down on anxiety and reduce whining. Take your time acclimating your puppy to the crate. Your pup needs the opportunity to learn that the crate is a comfortable and safe space. If you just stuff a puppy in one, with no toys, no acclimation period etc. Instead, provide treats, chew toys and bedding in the crate to make it fun and homey. Use a lot of treats to reward your puppy when he is being quiet and calm in his crate. Give treats for going in the crate. Make the crate a very positive experience. If you successfully do that, your puppy will willingly go into their crate because they will associate it with good things. Going inside the crate is usually the result of overestimating how long a puppy can go without relieving themselves. The general number of hours a puppy needs between bathroom breaks is ascertained by adding his age in months, plus one. Using that formula, a 2-month-old puppy can usually hold it for three hours, and a 3-month-old puppy can generally hold it for four hours and so on. When potty training, there's no such thing as too many bathroom breaks. If you're at home and capable, there's no reason to stretch out breaks to their maximum. Tip 5: Crate placement matters. Some puppies will be perfectly quiet and content if the crate is placed in your bedroom or a common area. Others will whine all night long and you won't get a wink of sleep. Experiment where you place the crate. Try to keep them in a place where they can see you at first. If it prevents you from sleeping, no one can blame you for putting the crate in a faraway room, the garage, basement etc. But by doing that, it's likely that the puppy might feel isolated and react by crying even more. Either way, completely ignore the whining. We suggest trying to keep the puppy's crate in whichever room you're in at first. If necessary, you may have to place it elsewhere to get sleep. Do expect some whining in the beginning, even if the puppy is around you. Tip 6: Exercise, play, and toys. If you let your puppy play after coming inside from using the bathroom, like most babies, he'll tire himself out and want to nap. So make sure they get to play and spend time with you. And make sure they're occupied in their crate. The best way to do that is to use interactive toys to keep them busy. And there you have it, 6 tips to help cut down whining in the crate. Again, remember to be patient. Even under the best circumstances, puppies will whine in the beginning; even if you're in the same room. Don't be too quick to put them in another room or part of the house. Only resort to that if it severely impacts your sleep or ability to work. Tips to Train German Shepherd Not to Cry So Much Whenever you are dealing with a very smart dog breed that is highly attuned to their human carers, you can bet your dog will notice what gets your attention fastest. Then your dog will do more of that. After all, your German Shepherd loves attention from you! So anything your GSD can do to keep your attention on them is a good thing to do more of. This means you will need to start paying more attention to the things your dog does that send you running to them. When your GSD starts whimpering, whining, or crying, for instance, you will have to stop yourself from immediately responding. In this section, we will look at specific tips to train your German Shepherd not to cry so much. We will look at tips for GSD puppies, adult dogs, and rescue dogs. Train your German Shepherd puppy not to cry so much One of the most common issues new German Shepherd puppy keepers face is trying to crate train a new GSD puppy. Crate training can be an invaluable addition to your training protocols! Yet, as PetMD points out, your puppy is often already dealing with a lot of changes when crate training begins. Your GSD puppy is trying to learn to sleep apart from mom and littermates for the first time. Your puppy is in a strange new place with a new family and new surroundings. Suddenly there are lots of rules and regulations, potty training issues, leashes and collars to get used to, veterinary visits, and then…. This means that regardless of what breed of puppy you are crate training , some crying and whining are just going to come with the territory. So here are expert tips to help your GSD puppy understand that whining and crying will not get them out of crate training. Do not respond to the crying behavior when it first starts — wait until your puppy quiets down before approaching the crate. Make sure the crate is puppy-sized — your GSD puppy should be able to stand up and turn around, but if you can fit two GSD puppies inside it, it is too large. Take time to get your GSD puppy familiar with the crate structure itself — practice going in and out the door, do short sits at first, offer lots of praise and rewards. Put the crate in a place where you are still visible at first so your puppy will not feel abandoned and start to cry in a panic. Train your German Shepherd adult dog not to cry so much When it comes to training an adult GSD dog not to cry or whine so much, it is all about setting reasonable expectations, as this VetStreet owner thread highlights. After all, you have chosen a vocal dog breed with a high need and drive to be near you and in constant communication with you. But if you set a goal to simply reduce the amount of crying or whining, you are likely to have a much better chance of reaching your goal. Here are some tips to help encourage your German Shepherd to stop seeing crying or whining behavior as an effective way of getting your attention quickly. Make a list. Start making a list of each time your German Shepherd whines and what was going on just before the crying started. This can help you identify certain issues that may cause your GSD to whine more — is it just before dinner time? Is it time for the evening walk? Is there some other routine your dog remembers that you have forgotten? This will also help you identify when crying might be prompted by discomfort, illness, boredom, loneliness, or some other reason. Stop responding to the crying right away. Crying or whining can be an auditory irritant — no doubt about it. No matter how much you love your dog, having to listen to constant crying can get on your nerves! So instead of responding right away to try to make the sound stop, task yourself to take several deep breaths and count to 10, or 15, or .Wait until the whining at least lessens or ideally stops before responding. Train your German Shepherd rescue dog not to cry so much German Shepherds are so sensitive that being relinquished and re-homed can be especially hard on this dog breed. You may get your new GSD rescue pup home only to discover your dog develops a full-blown case of separation anxiety whenever you are not clearly visible and available to your dog. As All Shepherd Rescue charity explains, separation anxiety can be a much bigger problem to address than simply removing social reinforcement for the behavior. Your GSD is panicked! Making use of a dog walker, doggie daycare, or a friendly dog-loving neighbor or friend when you have to be out can spell you during the re-training process. Ideally, no one would choose a German Shepherd dog without knowing in advance that these dogs tend to be naturally vocal. Yet it happens every day. There is so much to learn about the German Shepherd dog breed that sometimes the vocalization habits just get overlooked. Now that you understand your experience with GSD crying is not unique to you and your dog, you can start taking steps to reduce the crying behaviors. This is normal and natural. It is simply that your puppy is learning how to sleep alone for the first time. Rather, the goal is to ease the crying and the feeling of being alone for your puppy. If you can do this, the crate will no longer be an issue. Otherwise, you are just putting off the introduction of the crate. And you are likely to be listening to a crying puppy all night anyway because everything is so new. It might be tempting to just let your new GSD puppy sleep with you for the first night or few nights, or a week, or month…. Persisting with crate training can pay off if you know what to do. You are used to sleeping in a huddle with your littermates all snuggled together around your mom. Suddenly, your sleeping arrangements are changed. Mom is gone. Your littermates are nowhere to be found. In place of the comfy dog bed or blanket, or whelping bed there is a cold steel or plastic box. So the first order of business that is urgent is to get your new GSD puppy comfy in their new crate! Here are seven expert tips to make the crate look and feel and smell homey and safe for your puppy: 1. Cover the crate partially for naps and bedtime but not so much that there is no ventilation. Aim for protecting your puppy from drafts and light but still allowing for sufficient airflow. Add in a comfortable puppy blanket so your dog can snuggle up in it. Ease Into Extended Crate Time With Short Training Sessions When you first bring your German Shepherd puppy home, it may be late in the day and you may not have time for a bunch of crate sessions right away. This means you may have to deal with some whining and crying the first night. It can help to place the crate in your bedroom if possible. This way your dog can at least see and smell you. And if your new GSD puppy needs to potty, which they likely will, you can take care of it right away. But starting the following morning, you should begin proper crate training for your German Shepherd puppy right away. And you should establish reasonable expectations for the outcome. As PetMD points out, even the best crate training in the world may not completely stop your puppy from whining, crying, or barking. This is because you have chosen an intensely people-oriented dog breed! All dogs are oriented towards people to some degree, but the German Shepherd dog breed is particularly people-focused. Your puppy just wants to be with you. You want to start with very short and sweet sessions just to get your German Shepherd puppy used to being in the crate. Start with just 10 or 15 minutes at a time at timed intervals throughout the day. As you do this, make sure the crate is in a quiet place, but not a place that is far away from you and your family. The more easily your puppy can sense your presence, the less likely they are to get very lonely and start crying loudly. A Sample German Shepherd Puppy Crate Training Schedule As you learned earlier here, crate training under the best of conditions can be stressful for a puppy. This is especially important while your puppy is also going through potty training! Noon: Lunch! What should you do if this happens? While some amount of crate whining and crying is normal when a new puppy is first getting used to the crate, sometimes crying and whining can have other meanings as well. It is always smart to have your new GSD puppy checked out by your veterinarian right away anyway — ideally in the first 24 to 48 hours. But if your puppy keeps whining and crying, there may be another reason. Your dog might be sick or injured and need treatment. It is much better to talk with your veterinarian and know for sure than to worry and wonder and get no sleep at night. Sometimes puppies may develop separation anxiety and get very frantic about trying to get out of their crate. When this happens, self-injury becomes possible. It may be helpful to ask your veterinarian for a referral to a dog trainer so you can address the separation anxiety before it leads to self-harm or an ingrained behavior pattern. By understanding the most common reasons your German Shepherd puppy might cry in their crate and what to do to ease loneliness and fears, your new puppy will soon settle into your family. If you looking to buy a new crate for your dog, here is a list of our recommendations. Recommended reading:.

Fortunately, this is treatable and the treatment will depend on the severity of the symptoms and conditions. Always take your German Shepherd Bulldog to the vet sooner rather than later to avoid complications. It can be difficult to pinpoint the right dog food for a mixed breed such as a German Shepherd Bulldog. This is why it is best to speak to your vet about which food brand will have the optimal nutrients for proper growth and development. In this case, you may find that your puppy will grow rapidly from about 4 to 7 months and this process needs to be slowed down. See also The German Shepherd Dachshund Mix Breed Guide And Information Your vet may suggest a high-quality, low-calorie diet, but this is something that you should clear with them first before putting your dog on this diet. Otherwise, high-quality dog food , complete with well-sourced ingredients and balanced nutrients will be the way to go. If your dog has a physique closer to that of a Bulldog, obesity may be a problem. This, in turn, can cause joint problems. Keep treats and snacks to a minimum as well. The required level of activity will depend on which parent your German Shepherd Bulldog takes after most. If your pooch is taller, has a leaner physique, and tons of energy to spare, then consider walking your dog 30 minutes or more each day. For pups such as these, Frisbee and fetch can be a good break in the monotony. In case your German Shepherd Bulldog is shorter and squatter, their range of movement can be more limited. A 15 to minute walk at a reasonable pace should be more than enough. It should be noted that some German Shepherd Bulldogs may be quite lazy and certified couch potatoes. Getting them to go outside can be tricky but it is something you need to do every day or their risk of weight gain will go up. Due to this, you should never exercise your dog when it is hot. Make sure the temperature is cool and comfortable before you take them outside. The level of grooming required will depend on the type of coat your German Shepherd Bulldog has. If it is a thicker, longer double coat, then your pup may shed more. To keep this under control, brush them several times a week. Dogs with this coat may shed more excessively following cold months. The top solution is to brush your dog every day during this period. If their fur is short, smooth, and a single coat, they will not require as much attention. Brushing them once a week should be enough. Some German Shepherd Bulldogs may have the classic Bulldog wrinkles around their face. Take care, as these areas are especially prone to skin infections and conditions. Clean these areas often and always make sure that they are gently but thoroughly dried off. Once every few months or when their coat begins to smell is more than enough. Always use a gentle shampoo that is specifically meant for dogs. Due to this, they need to live in moderate environments. If you live in an area where the temperature can drop or rise quite drastically, keep your Bulldog indoors at all times. Due to their size and moderate energy levels, these dogs can thrive in apartments and smaller dwellings. To compensate, though, you need to take them outside quite often. Try to do this several times a day. German Shepherd Bulldogs can be moderately easy to train. You will require some patience, though, as these pups may not learn tricks or commands right off the back. They require consistent training and you will need to work with them until they get things right. The good news is that once this pup has learned a trick or command , they are unlikely to forget it. Your hard work will pay off. Some pups may be especially motivated by treats and this can be an effective training tool. In some cases, you may be put on a waiting list, depending on availability. Always choose a reputable breeder.
