Temperament of a Mini Bernedoodle To understand the temperament of a Miniature Bernedoodle, we first need to learn about the parent breeds, as the pups will inherit many of the same qualities. These pups were originally bred for mushroom hunting and companionship, making them hard-working dogs who are also highly affectionate. Loyal One popular Mini Bernedoodle trait is loyalty. You can expect the Mini Bernedoodle to be gentle around your family yet, at the same time, fiercely loyal to you and other members of your family. The Miniature Bernedoodle is easy to train and picks up commands relatively fast. Stubborn Although intelligent, Mini Bernedoodles take after their Bernese Mountain parent and inherit their stubbornness. Patience is key when training a Miniature Bernedoodle. Playful and Outgoing Mini Bernedoodles are very social dogs who love to be around people and other animals. Being so social, they enjoy playing and are always in the mood to make new friends. They love playing with children and other pets and are quick to make new friends. Affectionate Mini Bernedoodles are known for being extremely affectionate dogs. They crave attention from their owners and love to always be near them. Like the Mini Poodle, they form strong bonds with all family members. Early socialization and training are key to preventing separation anxiety with your Mini Bernedoodle. Additionally, the coats of Mini Bernedoodle puppies may change as they grow into adults. Coat types A Mini Bernedoodle can have a range of different coat types but are typically either straight, wavy, or curly. As Poodles have hair, not fur , they tend to shed minimally. Grooming a Mini Bernedoodles Miniature Bernedoodles have high-maintenance coats that require plenty of brushing and combing to prevent tangles and mats. You should anticipate spending at least 15 minutes every other day combing your Mini Bernedoodle if you plan to keep their hair long. That said, the amount of combing depends on whether you keep their hair long or trimmed down. I tend to shave my Doodles, but most prefer longer coats. Regarding visits to a professional groomer, you can expect to take your Mini Bernedoodle every six to eight weeks. You can extend the time between each trip by learning to groom your Doodle at home. This can be an excellent bonding experience for you and your Mini Bernedoodle! Energy levels of a Mini Bernedoodle Bernese Mountain Dogs are calm dogs with a desire to work and learn. Miniature Poodles, on the other hand, are playful and love training. So what are Miniature Bernedoodles like? You can expect a Mini Bernedoodle to be a mix of traits! They tend to have medium levels of energy and an affinity to training. We recommend 60 minutes of daily exercise for a Mini Bernedoodle. If you notice your pup is still energetic after 60 minutes, consider increasing their exercise or adding some training and mental stimulation to tire them out. But as mentioned earlier, since the Mini Bernedoodle is notoriously stubborn, you must be patient when training this dog breed. However, the intelligence of both parent breeds makes it highly likely that your Mini Bernedoodle will pick up new commands quickly. Where to find Mini Bernedoodle puppies for sale Reputable Breeders One place to look for a Mini Bernedoodle puppy is to seek out reputable Bernedoodle breeders in your area. Here are a few things to look out for: Health Testing: A reputable Mini Bernedoodle breeder will screen the parent dogs for health issues—like hip dysplasia or eye problems. Socialization: A responsible breeder socializes the puppies to different experiences and environments, so they grow up to be confident and well-adjusted. Parent Dogs: A reputable breeder will have both the mother and father dogs available for you to meet. Meeting the dogs helps you see their temperament, check their health, and view their living conditions. Breeding Standards: A good breeder will not breed for profit. Contracts: A responsible breeder will provide a contract that outlines the terms of the sale, health guarantees, and return policies. References: A reputable breeder should be able to provide references from previous puppy buyers and vets. Do not buy from breeders where you see signs of puppy mills or do not feel comfortable. A breeder will never pressure you to buy and always be there to answer any questions. Dog Rescues There are plenty of Doodle rescue agencies where you can find Poodle mix dogs available for adoption. We adopted a 1. Life expectancy of Mini Bernedoodles Mini Bernedoodles live to be around years. You can ensure your pup lives a long and healthy life by providing them with proper nutrition, going to your vet regularly, and ensuring they get lots of exercise and playtime. Health issues that Mini Bernedoodles may experience Mini Bernedoodles are prone to the same health issues as their parent breeds. Buying your Mini Bernedoodle puppy from a reputable breeder who does health testing will decrease the likelihood of some of these diseases. Cancer: Both Miniature Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs are prone to certain types of cancer, including hemangiosarcoma a type of cancer that affects blood vessels , lymphoma, and osteosarcoma bone cancer. Symptoms can include lethargy, fatigue, weight gain, and more. Mini Bernedoodles require lots of grooming, both at home and at professional groomers. Is the Mini Bernedoodle right for you? Mini Bernedoodles are a fabulous dog breed. But their coats requires lots of grooming and they need a family who can take them on enough walks and provide enough mental enrichment to burn off their energy. If that sounds good to you, a Mini Bernedoodle might just be the perfect pup for your family! On average, Mini Bernedoodles are inches tall and weigh anywhere from 10 to 30 pounds. Do Mini Bernedoodles bark a lot? The Mini Bernedoodle is a quiet dog and with the right training, will only bark on command and for guarding purposes. Are Mini Bernedoodles Cuddly Each dog is different, but as a whole, Mini Bernedoodles tend to be very cuddly and affectionate! What is the personality of a Mini Bernedoodle? I researched breeders all over the US and even Canada when looking to add a Bernedoodle to our family. I chose to join the waitlist at Walnut Valley because of their genetic testing, health guarantee, professionalism, transparency, genuine care for their animals, incredible customer service and ability to deliver the puppies at a reasonable cost. The estimate was a 2 year wait when I joined the waitlist, but I only waited 1 year for a puppy and I was extremely picky and passed on several litters. Jason is a rockstar and kept me updated and answered all of my questions the entire year I waited for a puppy. When it was finally time to choose he was very honest and helpful and made the process of selecting, purchasing, and preparing so smooth and easy. She is the most incredible dog I have ever seen. Pictures and videos do not even come close to how beautiful, sweet, and intelligent these puppies are. The day she came home it was extremely clear how much care goes into raising these puppies with excellent temperaments and great socialization. Our puppy came to us already loving kids!!! She was a part of our family from the moment we first met. She was kissing and enjoying my children from the moment she met them. She had no fear or apprehension about being around children and our vet commented that she seems very well adjusted. She learned to sit on command within days of coming to us. Jason continues to check in on us and it honestly feels like sending updates to a friend. Walnut Valley feels like family. The puppies are worth every penny! Like most people here we wanted a Bernedoodle and after doing tons of research there was no doubt in our minds that WVP was the place we wanted to get our puppy. But what really sealed the deal for us was the great communication with Jason. There's not much more we can say that others haven't already said on how great it was to work with Jason throughout this process. As first time dog owners, it was important to work with someone who would be patient with us and walk us through the process and he did just that. He was super helpful and answered all of our questions. He always kept us updated even after the selection process where he would send us pictures and videos on how our puppy was doing. In addition, it was great to see how active WVP was on social media and through these posts it was clear to us that these puppies were loved and well cared for and this gave us the reassurance we needed that we made the right decision. We've had our puppy for about a month now and we couldn't be happier. He's healthy and very well socialized! Jason and his family are some of the sweetest, most organized, passionate and accommodating people you will ever meet. We are absolutely in love with our mini bernedoodle Enzo and would highly recommend Walnut! Stellar experience from start to finish! Throughout the process, Jason was amazing! He answered all of our questions, and always responded promptly. We live in CT and getting our puppy here was a seamless experience. You can tell the puppies are well cared for and socialized. Thank you Walnut Valley! However, after doing extensive research on Walnut Valley and their breeding program, we felt more confident. Jason did a phone interview to make sure we were aligned and that helped tremendously. The wait was so worth it and we just brought home our sweet puppy. I can tell she was socialized well and loved in the weeks before she came to us. I highly recommend Walnut Valley puppies and working with Jason. We joined the waitlist for the standard bernedoodles and from the start, Jason and the Walnut Valley team were very trustworthy, communicative and responsive. They explained the whole process and were available to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend Walnut Valley and would definitely use them again in the future. That in itself speaks volumes. It is evident from the level of their involvement and communication that they truly care about puppy placement to ensure a positive experience for both their puppies and adoptive families. They are always available for questions and concerns making you feel like you have a support system through the process. He is super organized, and follows up to be sure everything is going smoothly. I never get the sense that I am bothering him…he is always willing to answer questions. It's obvious he really does care about the welfare of his puppies after they leave his home. My sweet pup is so well adjusted and socialized and even potty training after one week is well ahead of what I expected!! It's obvious the puppies are well loved and taken care of before they leave his home. At the very last minute on "puppy picking day" I decided I wanted to make the 4. The property was well maintained and spotless. Walnut Valley Puppies We interviewed several and watched as puppies were born. Walnut Valley Puppies were constantly superior. Jason, was a great help in guiding us to the perfect addition to our family. Every step was seamless and professional. We got our puppy 3 days ago and the entire experience was so fun and exciting. They are a first class operation: from the beginning to the delivery via flight nanny. Absolutely the best breeder and I highly recommend their services! Jason helps make the process run smoothly by answering all your questions as well as providing lots of videos and pictures so that you can pick a puppy that will fit in with your family. When she arrived, you could tell she was socialized which made training much easier. Once my husband and I decided that a bernedoodle is the type of puppy we wanted I started doing research and honestly no other breeder compared in my opinion. Once I sent in my deposit to be added to the waitlist, the following day I received a call from Jason, just to talk about the breed and how long it would roughly be before it would be our turn to pick a puppy. You also get added to a facebook group of everyone who has had a puppy from WVP and can keep in touch with the siblings or ask any questions you might have. The community is just amazing. Yes, the wait is long, I think we waited about 16months but it was so worth it. Jason keeps the website very up to date, you can see how many litters are expected and keep track of your place on the list. Once it is your turn to pick the process is very simples, Jason sends over pictures and videos. We got our new buddy Kobe about a week ago, and in in this past week Jason had reached out multiple times to see how we were doing. Overall, a great experience. We did extensive research prior to selecting WVP's and the results were well worth it. Jason was great to work with from the time we put in our deposit to the time we took home our puppy and he is still in contact today checking in on how Marley Formerly Melody is doing. I was fortunate enough to meet Jason as he hand delivered our puppy by flying to our selected airport and was so caring through it all. He kept us informed on where we were at in the draft order and we appreciated all the photos and videos we received before selecting our puppy and even after. I would definitely recommend Walnut Valley Puppies to anybody. We were fortunate enough to get the exact puppy characteristics we wanted and we love her so much. We hit the jackpot with Marley. We are so pleased and grateful for the professionalism WVP's and Jason provided through the whole process. Thank you from the Briggs family. I had a million questions along the way and he was not only patient but very helpful and answered every single question I had. And still does lol Bella is now almost 8 months old and I will still text him with questions here and there. Bella is also the BEST dog. She has as an amazing temperament and people comment on how sweet she is all the time. From chilling and cuddling on the couch, to running and play in Central Park she loves it all. While she is still a puppy and a little crazy at times Bella calmed down quickly, was very easy to train and adjusted to city life in NYC easily. While she is a little shy around new humans she is obsessed with every single dog she meets. All around the best dog my husband and I have ever had! Cannot recommend Walnut Valley and Bernedoodles as a breed enough!!! So much so that after only a week after bringing our new puppy home we chose to go back on the waitlist for a second one. Every step of the process from navigating the website and getting on the waitlist to picking up our puppy and getting her home was smooth and professional. There were no surprises, loose strings, or hidden costs. Expectations regarding the waitlist time were realistic and response times are incredibly quick, respectful and friendly. WVP is clearly a reputable breeder with the health and wellness of their puppies and parents in mind. We only had one point of contact Jason Yoder throughout the entire adoption process which was nice because it took the chance for confusion or miscommunication out of the process. He checked-in and still checks in regularly and always responded within the same day typically within minutes. We especially appreciated all of the photos, videos and the personality ranking system they use. Once we got Harriet home, it was obvious that WVP put in a bunch of work getting her socialized and weaned prior to the 8-week mark when we picked her up. Our new puppy is sweet and playful with our young daughters as well as any other person who will give her attention. Our puppy came earlier than expected and has been wonderful. He was well socialized and loves people. He has been easy to train and more than you could hope for in a pup. Send them a deposit and get on the list. You won't be disappointed! Jason was very communicative throughout the whole process and really got to know us and the type of dog we were looking for. We knew we would wait a bit for our puppy due to the length of the list and the estimated times on the website and it was absolutely worth the wait. Throughout our time on the list Jason frequently checked in on us and answered all of our questions that came along the way. When it was time for our puppy to arrive she came with a bag full of goodies, some food, her moms blanket, her medical records and proof of being microchipped. Our first few days with her Jason frequently checked in and made sure we were adjusting alright to our little addition. One of the other draws to this Breeder was the connection amongst other families that also adopted a dog from Walnut Valley. Not only can we contact Jason at any time but we also have this great community of people we can turn too. Walnut Valley puppies showered us with the sweetest pics of the first 8 weeks of our puppy. Walnut Valley puppies are such a family friendly, caring, and reliable business and anyone who gets to adopt one of their puppies will be so blessed by the entire process! Our puppy is so sweet, beautiful, and kind - thank you Walnut Valley Puppies!! We brought Hazel home and she is doing so well and healthy. The transition from Walnut Valley to bringing Hazel home was smooth, she was able to sleep in our bed after a week of being home with no issue. They clearly do a great job with their pups and I would highly recommend! Update: we've had Hazel for just about 2 years and she is our whole world! She is more perfect as time goes on, and my husband and I recommend Walnut Valley to anyone that is interested in a pup. We've really gotten use out of the Facebook group, we've even been able to meet up with other Walnut Valley families and thats been great! She has the best personality— affectionate, spunky, cuddly, loyal, and incredibly smart. The entire process was smooth and efficient. They are very responsive and even helped guide us through the early puppy days. We still text them pictures of our girl all the time! Our future dogs will most definitely be coming from Walnut Valley. Jason was a pleasure to work with from the moment we contacted him. You can tell that they love what they do and truly care about all of their dogs and puppies. Jason was able to answer all of our questions and help us bring our puppy home. Our two year old daughter is in love with her and they are inseparable! Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for helping us add the the perfect furry addition to our family! He can already fly up an entire flight of stairs, sleep through the night with only one or two bathroom cries he never goes in his crate , he's super smart and I've never seen a dog cuddle as much as this guy. Jason was also super helpful and responsive throughout the entire process answering any and all questions. Overall a great experience. They were so responsive, polite and answered all the questions I had. I got lucky to get one of their F1 bernedoodle puppies pretty last minute and they handled it so professionally and fully catered to our needs and requests. The Walnut Valley family truly cares about their puppies and the people they are working with. Highly recommend!! Our puppy is truly the best, and we are so lucky to have him! We were impressed with the website and Jason who was our point of contact. He is amazing. Very helpful, responsive, and answered all our questions from the moment we went on the waitlist till the day we picked up our mini bernedoodle named Olive. So impressed with this breeder. After an additional 12 month wait, we introduced the perfect puppy to her forever home. To say that we did our due diligence would be an understatement. WVP was a pure joy to work with, and Jason is the real deal. Shared many texts and talks with Jason throughout the past 12 months AND many follow up texts after we brought her home. Also to follow the puppies from all the different litters on their Facebook site is awesome. Jason from Walnut Valley was extremely helpful and a very friendly individual. He provided us with constant updates and pictures of our little puppy once she was born. They also provided us with the necessary information, vaccines, and procedures needed for a new puppy. I would highly recommend considering Walnut Valley! She is absolutely fabulous! We had a really amazing experience with WVP. Jason responded to texts from me daily. No joke. He was always kind, honest, and funny. I highly recommend WVP. They make beautiful, well tempered puppies, and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. Our little girl has adjusted really well to all the activity in our house. She started to sleep good at night in the crate after a few nights home. And the bell for potty she has really mastered about a month in. We are so grateful for all the resources that you all have provided and we are really loving the puppy school you recommended! We are thankful we found your place- our little Oakley has been a blessing! This is our first dog after getting married in October, and we are excited about another dynamic at the house. We get compliments on how cute and intelligent she is constantly. Glad we have her! Walnut Valley truly cares about their puppies. They have checked in also after he's been home. They stand behind their puppies and also make sure you provide a safe place for their puppy. You can tell he had an excellent start, because he's been so good. Our lil guy is super smart. Rarely barks or any accidents. The whole process has been amazing. Highly recommend this wonderful family. Everything was handled smoothly and beautifully, the puppies are so well cared-for and come with all of the information and starter supplies we needed as new puppy owners. We have had a wonderful experience with them and they continue to reach out weeks after we brought Bella home. Thank you! Since getting a bernedoodle can often take years it can be hard to plan so you need a good company that communicates and has flexibility. I searched other breeders and liked that Walnut Valley allowed you to get some of your deposit refunded in case life situations changed and also let you pick your puppy unlike other places. If you are not ready you maintain your place on the waitlist which is also helpful. Jason is the main contact and he is fantastic and a good communicator. The website shows where you are on the wait list and has lots of other helpful links. Once puppy pick day arrived Jason provided videos and answered all my questions promptly. They also provide a helpful scoring system to try to match the personality of the puppy into your household. The transport went smoothly. My dog is just beautiful—amazing, adorable and smart. They also continue to support you after your adoption with a 2 year genetic health guarantee. My puppy has a little umbilical hernia which they told me about before I picked him and they will cover the cost of repairing—my vet was very impressed with that. It shows they stand by the health of their puppies. There is a Facebook page for the Walnut Valley Family who adopt their puppies and it really feels like a family you are lucky to adopt into! From the time we were added to the waitlist, Jason and the rest of the crew were fantastic. They answered any questions we had and made us feel like part of the Walnut Valley family before we even picked out a puppy. Choosing a puppy without getting to meet them first is not always the easiest, but Jason took his time with us and helped us confidently pick out the best puppy for us. Now that we have our little handsome guy home with us, the support continues to be top-notch! Jason checks in regularly to make sure everything is going well. Anything could have happened during those 11 months, but the professionalism, prompt customer service and friendliness of Walnut Valley Puppies never waivered. We received the same quick, courtious and helpful replies whether we were 2 on the waitlist or .We felt safe and taken care of during our wait and getting the call that we were finally on deck to choose a puppy felt like winning the lotto. From there, Jason was incredible at guiding us through chosing the right puppy to getting him in our arms. He was also extremly patient with all of my questions, never once rushing me. For a first time dog owner, that patience is priceless. The beautiful little guy who now lives with us is perfect and has the most incredible markings. At our first vet visit, the vet said he was in perfect condition and couldn't stop talking about his beautiful markings and how good looking our guy was. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for being so wonderful to work with over the last year. The wait was long, but the experience was 5 stars. They are communicative, super friendly, and just know bernedoodles like no one else does. They care a lot about their puppies, and I would recommend them to anyone. They drove her down and delivered her to our door. When she got her you could tell she was relaxed and happy. She is being crate trained so she sleeps with the blanket that has the scent of her siblings on it. We did get her the Snuggle Puppy to put in the crate to help also. With those two things she will sleep from 9pm to 7am which is amazing! She has been great with our 3 and 4 year old children. You can tell she has been around kids before because she is not bothered by them constantly wanting to play with her! She is so pretty and we are always stopped so that people can ask all about what kind she is and where she came from. I have had my sweet Clark for just about a week now and he is a playful, smart and snuggly little guy. I am so happy to have worked with Jason and team in this process. Jason went above and beyond to make our experience positive. We brought home our first Miniature Bernedoodle a year ago, and loved him so much we had to get him a sibling! We now have 2 Walnut Valley pups running around, and they are the greatest! Jason was super helpful and always quick to answer our questions. As first time dog owners we did not know what to expect and now the bar has been set incredibly high. Camden fka Lincoln is the most kind fun loving dog and we are so happy!! WVP goes above and beyond to care for the puppies and they even drove the dogs to the east coast during a pandemic to deliver them safely. Camden is in perfect health and is very social. Do yourself a favor and put your deposit down. You will NOT be disappointed. Jason spent a lot of time from the very beginning understanding what we were looking for and answered all of my questions with so much detail! When it was time for us to chose our puppy, he was so helpful, providing all the info we wanted and sending additional pictures and videos. We now have had Ranger Lariot for a week, and he keeps checking in to make sure all is well and has been helping me a lot on how to help Ranger eat better. It is a great place to get your puppy from, they take really good care of their dogs and know what they are doing. Plus they have the cutest mini Bernedoodles you can find!! I am a very detail oriented person and did a ton of research before choosing Walnut Valley. Jason is very professional but also clearly wants the best for the puppies and the families and happily answered my many questions. It is difficult to find a breeder of high quality and also with genuine compassion for the animals and their families. We could not be happier with our decision! Our 2 month old puppy is gentle, loves people, and full of life. Looking forward to giving updates as he grows older! Not only is the website super professional, illustrative, and easy to navigate, Jason and his staff are super responsive and made me feel comfortable. We are so happy with our mini bernedoodle who came home 1 week ago! He is such a well-socialized puppy, loves people, and has the classic Bernese tri-color markings. Thank you for giving us our doggo, WVP!!!! The comparisons, their refundable deposit policy, and reputation sold us on this breeder. Jason and his family went above and beyond to help us find the perfect puppies for our family! We love our dogs so much, and would recommend Walnut Valley Puppies to anyone looking for the perfect bernedoodle! Jason was very helpful throughout the whole process. He was responsive and provided useful information on the website and over the phone to help us prepare. We definitely appreciated the photos, videos, and social media updates on our soon to be family member and his siblings. They all looked well taken care of. When we finally got our dog, the goodie bag for the puppy was thoughtful and it came in handy and our puppy loves his fox toy! We couldn't be happier with our new puppy! Would highly recommend! They were in constant communication with me during the process and even after to check up on our new pup, Draco! I definitely recommend them for your future Bernedoodle pup! From start to finish, Jason made us comfortable, and was always available for questions of any kind. He helped us select the perfect puppy for our family. They are the greatest. Thank you Jason! Jason was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. You can truly tell how much they care about the pups. Their strong communication throughout the entire process ensured everything went smoothly. I am so happy with my new puppy -- she is sweet, fun, smart, and healthy. Highly recommend! Throughout the whole experience they were very flexible, professional and knowledgeable. We love our mini Bernedoodle, Piper, who is now 4 months old. She is so happy and healthy and beyond what we had hoped for! Thank you Walnut Valley for giving us an amazing start to life as pawrents! We just love our standard Bernadoodle. He is the best dog we have ever had! Loyal, friendly, smart and goofy. Jason was always quick to respond and answer questions, and still continues to check in even after receiving our puppy. We have a mini Bernedoodle named Luna formerly Stormi and she is very smart! Since I live far away, I was concerned about buying a dog via the internet without visiting the breeder. From the minute I got him, he was affectionate and loving. In the crate on the way home, if he started to cry, he would immediately calm when I gave him my hand. Jason was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. He answered every question and was flexible as my travel plans evolved. Overall a great experience with a delightful outcome. Jason has been in contact and has been very personable answering all questions and guiding me through the process. Our puppy was shipped across the country to us. Walnut Valley Puppies took care of all the travel arrangements. All I had to do was meet her at the airport. She came in a very nice crate with a pad, her blanket, a leash and color, and a starter bag of food. You could tell she had been well taken care of along the way. She was a happy puppy when she arrived: she was clean and the crate was clean. It was all very easy and very smooth. Best of all is the beautiful, sweet, healthy, happy little mini bernedoodle puppy they produced. I would highly recommended if you are looking for a mini Bernedoodle. I am sure their other puppies are of high quality too. The transition from Maple Valley to bringing Haze home was smooth, she was able to sleep in our bed after a week of being home with no issue. They clearly do a great job with their pups and I would highly reccomend! Jason and Javin were responsive and helpful along the whole way, sending pictures and videos, talking about personalities, and helping us make the best selection we could. Our girl has been with us for 4 weeks now and gets along great with the kids and cats, Bernedoodles are an excellent breed! Sweet, energetic and adorable. Working with Walnut Valley Puppies was a great experience! Javin and Jason were both excellent in communicating, making themselves available and answering all of my questions. They clearly care very much about their puppies and follow up after they go home to see how they're doing. Overall, I can't imagine having a better experience with a breeder, and I am so happy to have Percy home with me as my new best friend. Jason continues to follow up to make sure everything is ok. Highly recommend Walnut Valley Puppies. From asking a ton of questions to completely going out of the way to get my pups on a direct flight to their new forever home out West. They care about these fur babies as much as their new owners and remain in contact to make sure all is running smoothly. I highly recommend!! She did very well on the trip here, both in the car and on the plane! She had her checkup today and is doing so so well, no issues at all, coat, eyes and ears are perfect. Throughout the process leading up to bringing our puppy home, Jason was incredibly helpful and responsive. Our puppy has been a quick learner and very loving! We would certainly recommend Walnut Valley to anyone interested in bringing a new puppy home. Everyone I talked to were all super awesome and helped us get our perfect puppy. Beautiful dogs and beautiful people. Javin and his dad David took excellent care of us through the whole process. This dog is completely amazing and absolutely gorgeous. We are very glad we chose Walnut Valley Puppies. I found making such a big decision via a website to be "odd". That being said, We were very happy with our choice to go with Walnut Valley Puppies. Jason was great throughout the entire process - answering questions, providing insights, sharing updates, walking us through our selection process and even checking in after Camber aka Shade joined our family. WVP were also very flexible on our "pick up process" helping give our kids the best Christmas ever with a surprise pup!!! Camber got a clean bill of health from our vet. He is growing nicely and his demeanor is outstanding - my 3 kids, as well as myself and my husband are in love. I would highly recommend WVP to anyone looking for a bernedoodle. Jason was so helpful and knowledgable throughout the whole process. He's periodically been checking in with us to answer any questions we may have and seems genuinely interested in how Arlo's acclimating to our family. Arlo formerly Skyler is now 10 weeks old and is the perfect addition to our family. He's very bright, healthy and full of life. In just the two weeks we've had him, he's learned to ring a bell when he needs to use the bathroom and has learned to sit and lay down. He also sleeps quietly in his crate all night, with the exception of one middle-of-the-night bathroom break. It's very clear to me that Arlo had a wonderful, nurturing start at Walnut Valley Puppies. They really care for their pups. We love our little guy and couldn't be more thankful to Jason and the Walnut Valley Puppies team. Jason was super great to work with and graciously accommodated my needs when I had to switch my pick up day! My puppy Walter is so sweet and relaxed for a puppy. She Koda had a long flight to California, but arrived in good condition and was so happy to wrap herself into my arms. Jason was so kind, accommodating keeping me updated with pictures and answering all my questions. I made the right choice when I put my deposit down to purchase from Walnut Valley Puppies. It was the best choice I could have made. Everyone was amazed that she was such a perfect puppy. Jason made this simple and easy for me to buy and receive my puppy even with all the miles between us. Koda is amazing, adorable and so so smart with a personality plus! She has perfect features. I just love her more than words can say. I found that and so much more in Jason and Walnut Valley Puppies. I felt completely supported every step of the way. Jason stayed in regular contact with me all throughout the pregnancy and birth of the litter with updates and photos. He answered my hundreds of questions over text, email, and regular phone calls. He was extremely responsive and reliable. He understood all of my concerns as a first time puppy parent, and provided such thoughtful and insightful guidance. I especially appreciate and value the emphasis placed on honesty and goodness in their business and practice. Most importantly, the love and care for the dogs and puppies at Walnut Valley was very clear. From the moment we met our beautiful puppy, she was so loving, patient, and trusting. She is extremely healthy and vivacious. She was given a wonderful start on life at Walnut Valley. I feel so lucky and I am so grateful. Shadow, now named Rocky, was the runt of the litter but has so much life, energy and spunk! He is turning out to be a great dog already. Jason went above and beyond to answer our questions, address our concerns and even help us facilitate getting the puppy when the time came. He has checked on him several times since we got the puppy to make sure that everything is OK. All in all, we could not be more happy with our experience and would recommend WVP and their service to anyone! She is so sweet and a perfect fit for the family. The entire purchase was easy and accurate. They even made arrangements for a Flight Nanny to fly with her and bring her to me! I would highly recommend with no reservations? Jason was so personable and answered all of our questions. The selection process was straight forward, and we were kept informed every step of the way. Javin worked with us on delivery and everything went smoothly. We could not be more pleased with our sweet, smart, healthy mini bernedoodle puppy! Our two new pups are just amazing. We were kept informed throughout the first eight weeks with regular updates and new photos so we could watch them grow even though they were not with us. It certainly was a memorable experience. Even after we had them home for a few days they continued to check in on their progress. Javin and Jason truly care about their puppies. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies! They were extremely responsive to our inquiry and questions. They care about their pups and customers and want to make sure each family finds the perfect fit. Although we were initially hesitant with an online transaction, everything was smooth and legitimate. All the pictures on the site were of the actual puppies available. We were offered to FaceTime as well. They have checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well. As far as our puppy - he is beautiful and gentle and we are so in love with him. Jason is extremely helpful and knowledgeable with any questions I had. Javin delivered a very healthy, playful and smart puppy. I had a great experience and I am very satisfied. I was nervous purchasing a puppy from the internet without ever meeting the puppy or seeing the facility but Javin and Jason make you feel at ease throughout the entire process. His main concern is to make the customers happy and make sure the puppy fits into your family. After some things changed with our family situation, I was able to purchase a puppy from them. I loved how they post several pictures of the puppies over the course of a few weeks and you can FaceTime with them to see the puppies and their clean facilities so you are reassured how well the puppies are cared for. Another thing I appreciated is that they rate the puppies demeanor which helps finding a puppy that fits into your lifestyle. I have had Sadie for a few days now and she is by far the easiest puppy I have ever had as far as training. She is a gorgeous puppy with a wonderful demeanor. I could not be happier!!! Feel free to reach out to ask me any questions you may have. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for everything!!! I had so many questions, and both Javin and Jason answered every one of them with such pleasant friendly conversation. Walnut Valley Puppies is number one! Would highly recommend. We got a mini bernedoodle 2 days before Christmas and we only started looking for a puppy this fall. Most breeders of Bernedoodles I found had long waiting list. Our new puppy is a perfect tri-color bernedoodle. With a very even tempered disposition. Go with Walnut Valley Puppies and you will not be disappointed! She is very sweet and well mannered. Best of all she is so smart! She recently had her first vet appointment and was given a clean bill of health. Jason was especially great to work with, allowing us to pick up Shelby FKA Carol when most convenient for us and constantly sending updated pictures prior to her adoption date. I would recommend this breeder to anyone looking for a high quality puppy at a reasonable price. Javin and Jason were great to work with throughout the entire adoption process and made us feel at ease. Randall fits perfectly into our family. He wants to make friends with everyone that meets him and is obsessed with little kids. He is a great puppy and we are so excited to watch him grow. She is experiencing her first snow now but we have been having way too much fun in it to take time to take pics. Craig and I are so excited to have her as a part of our little family! We love her so much already! They were very pleasant to deal with throughout the entire process. The puppy arrived healthy and happy as promised. Even though Moose has only been with our family a few days he has already brought so much joy and happiness to our home. If you are looking for puppy we would highly recommend Walnut Valley Puppies. My husband and I spoke at length with Jason who was only too happy to take time with us and answer all our questions. The following day we had a FaceTime visit to see the puppies we were interested in. My girlfriend was getting a boy, Rodney now Rocco and I selected Ruby. Because we live in California we wanted to arrange a flight for them that would be a non stop. These guys were so agreeable to making this arrangement work out the best for the pups, even though it was a longer ride to the airport for them. They followed up with us after the pups arrived and several times since. They really care about their puppies and it shows. They are extremely responsive and reliable and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Our little Ruby has fit right in with our 10 month old bernadoodle as the two have become best buddies. She is an active, very playful, smart and loving little girl. At three months old she is already taking herself out the dog door to go potty!!! She is a fast learner and an overall delight. We are so happy to have her as our new family member! Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for breeding such great pups and caring for them the way you do! They answered all of our questions and helped us get the right puppy for our family. We love our mini Bernadoodle Rocky! They are so knowledgeable and so honest and kind. He is wonderful and very respectful around my other animals my chickens, rabbits , and LOVES all kids. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He's strangely scared of other adults. He doesn't want anyone but family petting him, but we've been doing more socializing so I'm sure he'll grow out of it. He's just the best. Here's some pictures. As you can see in the pictures, she has grown so much. She was .She has brought us so much joy as we both lost our family dogs right before getting her. Her coat is so full and the groomer said she seriously is the best mix they have ever laid their eyes on. Georgia is curious, silly, smart, and full of energy. Thank you so much for our sweet healthy girl! We couldn't be happier! Follow Georgia on Instagram! I love that you are concerned and check up on the pups! He has a great temperament, he is in round 2 at school and smart as a whip. He goes for neutering and hernia repair on October 7th, he weighs 60 pounds, he is great with our grandchildren, our bird, and our cat. Here's an update on Auggie. He is a very sweet dog. He is very well behaved minus the fact that he eats way too many sticks. He is a comfort dog too. He loves laying on pillows, blankets, or even people when available. He also really loves car rides. We even made him his own platform for the backseat of my husbands truck so that he can be closer to us when we drive to my parents land 4 hours away. Thank you so much for your help with finding our perfect puppy! He loves chewing and sleeping, but is getting settled into his new life in Chicago. Good to hear from you. Seemed to fit him. His personality now is opposite of him as a small puppy. He is pretty hyper! He loves everyone, but gets overly excited when he sees anyone. He gets so excited when people come over, he has to be crated. Speaking of crates, he has done excellent with crating. Have never had a problem with him sleeping at night. Potty training was a breeze. He was awesome. He is a very smart dog. We are working with a trainer that is wonderful. She just loves Sonny! How can you not with that face. His fur was almost 4 inches long in some places and he was shedding quite a bit, so we decided to have him groomed. I will attach before and after pics. So happy with our little buddy! I will add my favorite pic of him for you also. And by the way, everyone thinks he is the cutest thing ever! Not with Javin! Our puppy Clover Sakina is a beautiful, loveable dog. The communication was clear, information about delivery prompt. She arrived at the airport in a nice crate. She was well socialized and exactly as promised. My 3 boys and I love her! They are constantly stopped on the street by people who want to know what his breed is and to ask to pet him! Thank you so much! I just wanted to thank you and tell you how wonderful she is. We could not be happier! Our first three days with her were spent on a lake in Northern Wisconsin. She is still unsure of staircases and swimming walking in water is fine! We have seen her stubborn side, as well as her playful and loyal sides. We are very blessed to have her in our lives, and look forward to watching her grow. Just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart!! We purchased Caynell now named Lucy last year just had her first birthday! I wanted to send some updated pictures and let you all know she is doing great! Gets along well with our lab and with other dogs and people in the neighborhood. We have renamed him from Meldon to Tito. Just had his first vet visit last week and is all set up for future vaccinations. Healthy as can be and loving life! A few pictures to see his progress with us! She has made our family complete and we are so in love with her!!! He is doing wonderful. He started going in and out of his crate on his own on the very first night and sleeps the entire night in it with no problems. He is very well adjusted to his new home already. He is eating great, loves to go for walks on his leash, and even started learning how to play fetch with my son. See attached video Potty training is a process but he is doing very well. I wanted to thank you for all you did in helping us give him a new home. You went above and beyond for me to make sure I got to bring him home and I greatly appreciate everything. I would gladly recommend that anyone call you when they are looking for a puppy. I tell everyone what a wonderful experience it was. Thank you again. I will continue to update you as he grows. This toy breed weighed under 12 pounds. Early photographs of French Bulldogs dating back to the 19th and early 20th centuries show the breed in a variety of coat colors and patterns. Image Credit: Max DeMaere, Shutterstock How Black and White French Bulldogs Gained Popularity Lace workers in Nottingham took a shine to Miniature Bulldogs for unknown reasons, but it seems likely that these sweet-natured, fun-loving dogs provided companionship and comfort to the underpaid workers. When these workers lost their jobs during the industrial revolution, they relocated to northern France and took their little dogs along with them. Unsurprisingly, the French quickly fell in love with the Toy Bulldog, too, and their popularity soon spread to Paris. This resulted in many being exported from England to fulfill the demand for them. Frenchies won hearts everywhere in French society, where they were adored by both the underprivileged and the wealthy—particularly wealthy Americans who loved them so much that they began exporting them to the States in .Morgans who owned Frenchies themselves. When the French Bulldog arrived back in England in , breeders showed little interest due to the Frenchie not fitting the English Bulldog standard. They were first recognized as a Bulldog breed type rather than as an individual breed. However, some fought for the breed to be recognized separately from the English Bulldog, and they eventually were by The Kennel Club in .Me What is a Black French Bulldog? While the breed standard for French Bulldogs allows for several different coat colors and patterns, black is a popular color for this breed. Black Frenchies are quite easy to recognize as they possess no traces of other colors. What we mean by that is that they have a solid black coat color with no brindle pattern; sometimes they have a white patch on their chest giving them a unique look. Black French Bulldogs are a highly sought-after breed and they are relatively rare. In general, French Bulldogs come in a range of colors, including brindle, fawn, cream, and white. However, the solid black coat color is a recessive trait and can only be passed down if both parents carry the gene for it. As a result, Black French Bulldogs are not as common as other colors, which adds to their appeal and value. Because Black French Bulldogs are rare, they can be more expensive than other colors. Do Black French Bulldogs Shed? Black French Bulldogs, like any other Frenchie tend to shed throughout the year, more so in the spring and fall. During this period, they change their coat almost completely, replacing it with shinier, brighter and nicer fur. The early ancestors of modern French Bulldogs came not from France but across the Channel in England. Toy Bulldogs were popular, especially in the city of Nottingham. When lace makers relocated to northern France due to competition from the Industrial Revolution in the mids, they brought their dogs with them. The French embraced the pups and bred them with Pugs and other terrier-type dogs until the modern French Bulldog breed was standardized. The adorable bat-eared dogs first served as pets of the working class before being noticed by the nobility. Late in the 19th century, French Bulldogs made their way into the rest of Europe and over to the United States. Interestingly, their native England was much less enthusiastic about the new French Bulldog, probably because the love of the traditional English Bulldog ran so deep. French Bulldogs were first shown in America in , and the breed was recognized by the AKC two years later in .However, black and white is not an officially recognized color pattern for French Bulldogs. Black and white French Bulldogs are not allowed in the show ring but possess all the faults and charms of every other member of this breed. The dog, named Gamin de Pycombe, was a champion Frenchie that was purchased in England by an American banker who survived the voyage. Artists of the era often pictured the little dogs alongside their mistresses in postcards and prints. They can be mostly black or mostly white, with only a few patches of the opposite color. Sometimes they display a piebald pattern, which is more evenly split between the two. Ticked or spotted patterns are also possible. Black and white French Bulldogs make amusing, playful, and entertaining pets, as you might expect, given their popularity. The dogs are small enough to live in almost any environment, including crowded cities. They generally get along well with other pets, but they can be a bit territorial. French Bulldogs are smart but can be stubborn, so patience is required when training them. The biggest concern with owning a black and white French Bulldog is their health problems. A recent study found that French Bulldogs were more likely to develop health problems than other breeds. Breathing problems due to their flat faces are the most serious, but Frenchies can also suffer skin, eye, ear, and spinal issues. Conclusion Black and white French Bulldogs have a unique and fascinating history. Unfortunately, they are also plagued with many issues in the present, thanks to reckless breeding and their unusual body type. Also, be financially prepared not only to cover the cost of the dog but potentially many severe and even life-threatening medical concerns. Look no further than Cheappuppiesforsale. Renowned for their easy maintenance and the ability to thrive in apartment living, French Bulldogs are a city dweller's delight. Their small size, typically weighing under 28 pounds, makes them perfectly suited to compact urban spaces. However, their charming personalities and heartwarming companionship are universally loved, irrespective of city or countryside living. This breed's laid-back nature does not mean they're devoid of fun and play. On the contrary, French Bulldogs can be quite playful and are known for their often comical and entertaining antics, which only further endears them to their owners. Their affectionate demeanor, combined with a remarkably low barking tendency, makes them a joy to have around the house. French Bulldogs are sturdy, compact, and stocky, with a powerful muscular build that contradicts their small size. They have a smooth coat that comes in a variety of colors, from fawn and brindle to white and grey. Their facial expressions are human-like, and they're known to "talk" using a complex system of yawns, yips, and gargles. However, owning a French Bulldog does come with responsibilities. Their brachycephalic short-nosed nature makes them prone to certain health issues and less tolerant of extreme temperatures. Despite their muscular appearance, they are not the best swimmers, and care should be taken around bodies of water.

The video is adorable from the start as viewers see the pups excitedly following their dad down a path to a pond. Their excitement is obvious as they race toward the water. This Looks Like One Fun Family Outing At first, five of the six pups hang back on the side of the pond and watch their dad, but the bravest of the group goes in right away and joins his father. It is not long before the others start getting a little braver and dipping their paws into the pond. Their dad continues to go around to different parts of the pond while encouraging the pups to join him. After a short swim, dad leads his family of pups along the trail for a nice run before they all head back to the pond to cool off some more. At this point, the scene becomes even more adorable as everyone starts getting in on the act and swimming. These pups are clearly naturals and take after their father with their swimming skills. Were you as entertained by this video of a Labrador dad teaching his pups to swim as so many others have been around the world? If you loved this video like so many others have, then make sure it stays in circulation by passing it on to your friends. How to teach your dog to swim. Natural Swimmers? It should naturally to them right? We found out first hand that not all Labradors are comfortable in the water, and that in some cases, you might need to teach your Lab to swim. Swimming is such a great exercise for your dog. Swimming is low impact and easy on their joints and the water can be refreshing to their achy muscles. We are always looking for alternative exercises for our two seniors, Jack and Maggie so we thought swimming would be an excellent choice. We adopted Jack and Maggie several years ago. Jack was in the shelter for over a year and Maggie was in a puppy mill situation as a breeder mom. Both of them were more interested in scraps of food on the beach than romping in the water and we really had to coax them into going near it. There was some wading, but no swimming. Repeated Attempts We tried again at a local park that had a small stream running through it. We got the same reaction — lots of curiosity about the wildlife along the shore, but not much interest in the water. We tried once more at a local doggie day spa that had a pool — same reaction. Maggie refused to even go in the water. We were about to give up on having water dogs. As a last ditch effort, we decided to vacation at Big Bear Lake in California. We got a cabin on the lake that had a dock and we figured this would be it, they would finally learn to swim and maybe even learn to jump off the dock. Any water, even a puddle and they were in it as quickly and as deeply as they could get. But not Jack. First we tried walking him out into the water. Finally, my husband picked him up and carried him out to where it was over his head. There was panic in his eyes, much splashing and a hasty retreat to shore. Maggie was also a little apprehensive when we brought her to the edge of the lake. Yet she waded into the water on her own, wandered around, waded in deeper, wandered around some more and then just kept going and was off swimming just as smooth and beautifully as only Labs can swim — hardly a ripple and just her little head above the surface. You may be lucky and have a dog like Maggie who just takes to it naturally. Or you may have one like Jack who thinks the water is only good if it deposits fish to the shore for him to eat. Either way, we put together a few tips on helping your Lab get comfortable with the water. Your own backyard pool is great or a lake with a gradual incline into the water is also a great place to start. Be sure your dog is comfortable wherever you are. Get a life vest. It will help your dog feel more secure and buoyant in the water. They also come with handles on the top, so you can lift and steer your dog more easily. Go into the water with them. They will always feel safer and more comfortable if you are with them. Just watch out for their claws as their dog paddle style can end up leaving scratch marks all over your body. If your dog is small enough, pick them up and carry them into the water to a point where they can no longer touch bottom. Support them evenly underneath and try to keep their body level to encourage them to use all four limbs. Once he realized to use his back legs, it was smooth sailing. Let them set the pace for how deep and how fast they go in the water. Use a toy or treats as encouragement or rewards. Many Labs love to play fetch and will happily chase a stick or tennis ball or duck into the water. Johanna Silver Being a dad means you get to teach your growing babies all about the outside world. Since parents are kids' first preview to how to walk, talk, and behave, little ones usually tend to pick up their parents' mannerisms, whether they're big or barely noticeable. As it turns out, this is also the case for furry dog dads! Like human babies, puppies are very impressionable; they'll observe and follow a lot of what their parents do. This particular Labrador daddy has six kids in tow, but they clearly love following right behind him while they all play outside. Being a clear fan of the outdoors and an attentive father, he decided to lead them to the lake for a swim, diving in and hoping they would follow. Some dove right in after him and clumsily splashed about while others seemed a little squeamish of the water, and it became clear that they didn't really know how to doggy paddle yet. But their dad persisted, helping them along and actually teaching them how to swim — have you ever seen anything like this before? This sweet little clip proves that parenting takes patience no matter what the species, especially if you have wagging wiggly puppies to teach! Usually, parents would enroll their kids in some swimming lessons for their little ones to learn how to swim. This daddy dog, however, took pride in teaching his pups all by himself. YouTube screenshot-Rumble Viral Source: YouTube screenshot-Rumble Viral From the moment of their birth, puppies begin to discover the world, acquire new skills, and develop their instincts under the watchful eyes of their parents. The puppies looked a bit scared and reluctant, as they followed their dad towards the pond when he would teach them how to become great swimmers! After initial hesitation, the puppies jumped into the water and started to swim for the first time! Labradors are among the top ten swimmer dog breeds and for a good reason! They simply love water and most labs are keen swimmers. Labradors have been swimming for centuries and were used by fishermen to retrieve ducks and fish. After their very first swimming lesson, the puppies returned back to the dry land and had a great time running around the playing with their dad. Labradors love the water so much that sometimes convincing them to get out becomes a bit of a struggle. Their love of water is very strong and they can easily get carried away and spend a lot of time swimming. It comes as no surprise that labrador puppies from the video had no trouble in the water. Another reason labradors such remarkable swimmers is their webbed toes which enable them to swim faster and easier than other dog breeds. For their first lesson, the puppies did great and the credit for their success goes to their dad who was a perfect teacher! One day, they will be giving their own puppies swimming lessons and remember the day at the pond with their dad! YouTube screenshot-Rumble Viral. Lab puppies can start learning how to swim as soon as they are old enough or at around 12 weeks of age. Lab puppies need to learn how to swim, so they need to start swimming early on. While they do have water instincts, they need to develop before they can build the strength to swim well. This guide will explain what age they can start swimming at and how to train them properly. We have helped many Labrador owners train their dogs to improve their obedience and water capabilities. They are a simple and loving breed with lots of intelligence, so that they can do just about anything. Lab puppies typically need time to develop these skills before they can be safely allowed into the water without supervision. Most labs should wait until about months old before going into the water for the first. It takes time for lab puppies to learn basic skills and gain the strength for swimming. It requires them to grow a bit more to a bigger size too. In general, Labradors love to swim and are renowned for being excellent swimmers. You can introduce your puppy to the water with careful supervision after weeks. The more time you spend with your lab puppy, the faster it will learn how to swim. It is also an excellent way for your lab puppy to trust you more. This is especially true if you bring them into the water younger. For example, your lab puppy will pick up swimming faster at six months compared to only weeks. Follow these steps to train your puppy to swim effectively. Teach Your Lab Puppy Basic Obedience Training your lab puppy to swim is a great idea, but it is not the most important thing you can do with your new dog. You should first teach your dog how to behave correctly with obedience training. This will help them understand what they are supposed to do in certain situations and provide a foundation for learning how to swim later on. After your puppy learns to obey basic commands, training it how to swim will be faster and easier. This will help them to be more comfortable in the water and build a positive association with it. When introducing your dog to the water, you should start by taking them on a short walk near the water's edge. If they are hesitant, try placing their paws in the water for a few seconds before moving on. Once they are comfortable, you can slowly increase their time in the water and eventually take them swimming with you. Gradually increase the depth of the water until they are swimming on their own, and then slowly lower it back down. Training your lab puppy on how to swim can be done through patience and perseverance. You should start slowly, giving your pup treats when paddling for a few seconds before gradually increasing the time they spend in the pool of water. Remain Patient When you first bring a new puppy home, it may not be comfortable in the water. They will likely want to avoid water as much as possible and wag their tail when they see you coming towards the pool or lake. It can take weeks to get used to swimming and even longer for them to stay afloat in deep water. Be patient as they grow and get more comfortable in the water. They have the instinct to use the doggy paddle but need to get comfy. Are Labradors Natural Swimmers? Dogs are not born with the ability to swim. They can only learn how to swim through extensive training. Labradors are no exception. However, Labradors were originally bred as working dogs for hunting and pulling carts, so it is not surprising that they are good at swimming. They have many traits that back up this reputation as well. Once dogs get comfortable in the water, they will know to use their strength to do the doggy paddle to stay afloat. This is something they understand naturally through instincts. Labradors also have a double coat of fur , which is better for the water because it keeps them warmer. This, along with a wide otter tail and webbed paws, makes them great at swimming. Labradors have thicker fur so they will remain warmer than other dogs in cold water. However, this does not mean they can handle freezing temperatures for a long time. We recommend exposing your dog to the water in the summer when it is not too cold. This will allow them to enjoy swimming more too. Lab puppies are susceptible to hypothermia and should never be left in freezing cold water. They might not show any signs of distress, but they can die if they stay in the cold for too long. Practice the same safety tips for your puppy as you would for yourself or a child. Extremely cold waters should be avoided. Here are some tips on taking care of your lab puppy and keeping them safe in the water. Always Supervise Your Puppy Lab puppies should never be left alone in a pool or near any body of water for any time, as they can easily drown if they accidentally fall into the pool. This is especially true for younger puppies that are new to swimming. You can change this approach as your lab gets older and more experienced. But for now, never let them into the water without other people around as a safety precaution. This is especially true if they are in the ocean or a lake, where the water could be more dangerous. Use A Canine Life Jacket Puppies need to be taught how to swim early so they can grow up with the ability to save themselves in the water. A canine life jacket is a great way to keep your lab puppy safe while learning how to swim. It will help them get used to the water experience without causing any harm. The best part about using a canine life jacket is that it will motivate your lab puppy to learn how to swim faster and more efficiently.

Temperament: Rambunctious, devoted and sociable. Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix Appearance There is no official standard for this hard to find hybrid, but its accepted that the breed should embody the positive traits of both parents. These dogs can come out looking like either one of the parent breeds, or a perfect mix of both. Their appearance is variable and will depend on gene expression. They should be large and well-built dogs that stand up to 24 inches tall. You will find they can be thin and lean or have a wider, more muscular build. Lab Pitbull mixes can come out with any possible combination of these appearances, but careful selective breeding can create a more predictable appearance. Height and Weight Males stand anywhere between inches tall with females standing inches tall. You can expect them to weigh anywhere between pounds. Coat and Colors This is certainly a dog of many colors. They can be the solid gold colors of a Golden Retriever, or a mix of darker colors against a white base. Your mix may be a solid, bi colored or even tri colored. This breed can be single or double coated, with fur of just about any length. A short coat is typically thin and fine furred, while a long coat may be shaggy or wavy. Some may even have an attractive curl to them. Short to medium coated dogs will shed mildly and only need brushing once or twice a week. Long coated dogs are frequent shedders with daily brushing and grooming requirements. The breed is not currently recognized by any organization, and there are no breed clubs or rescues. The Golden Retriever has history as a hunting partner used to retrieve waterfowl. This breed has no true name, but they are sometimes referred to as Retriever Pits. This name also applies to the more common Labrador Pitbull mix. Their unpredictability can make them difficult to train and to manage. One thing you can be certain about is their fun loving and active nature. A mix of a sporting dog and a terrier is a recipe for boundless energy. Their energy must be let out in bursts through the day. Your dog will certainly let you know when they need something to do. Pitbull Lab mixes social butterflies have an inborn desire to make new friends. They cannot tolerate boredom and hate to be by themselves. If you expect them to keep themselves entertained, they will do so by trashing your house. A high prey drive means that it will take some time for them to get along with your other pets. It is nearly impossible to pinpoint which specific behaviors your pup will inherit. But no matter what, you can expect them to be a loyal devoted friend to you and your family. This breed comes from two excellent family dogs, making it one of the best dogs for a family. They are known for extreme loyalty to their families, who they will view as their pack. Caring for a Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix Exercise Requirements Any dog in the sporting group needs more exercise than your average pooch. Taking your dog for long walks and runs will help both you and your dog stay fit. Golden Retriever Pitbull mixes need at least an hour of exercise every day. The best way to do this is to take them out for a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood and dedicate the rest of the time to play. They also love to jump, and will catch a Frisbee or a ball right out of the air. You can tune in to their wild sides by giving them toys to hunt. This is the perfect pooch for taking along with you on your own daily activities. They make excellent hiking partners and will enjoy a trip out into nature just as much as you will. Number of Walks Per Day: 1. Grooming and Shedding If you have a short coated dog, grooming will be much less intensive than it would be for a mix with a longer coat. Short and medium coated dogs need brushing once or twice a week. Long coated dogs will need brushing every day, and may need special brushes and combs for shed control. Do not be tempted to run to the bathtub every time your pooch gets a little dirty. You can give your dog a full bath every 3 months, but daily dirt and grime should be wiped away. Feeding and Diet These large active dogs need plenty of healthy food to fuel their daily work and play. This breed benefits from including raw foods in their diet. Even if you feed them kibble, you should find ways to add raw meat to the menu. You can replace one of their cups of kibble with some cuts of raw pork or poultry. Muscular breeds like this will need more protein than others. Fruits and vegetables make a great healthy treat for your dog. These are packed full of vitamins and minerals, but should only be given every once in a while. Hip dysplasia is very common for all large dog breeds. This is a malformation of the hip joints that causes pain and eventual arthritis. Having pet insurance could save you from potential headaches of going to the vets with reimbursement for every vet bill from now on! You should expect your Golden Retriever Pitbull mix to live for 10 to 15 years. This is a very little known breed with no official organization, so finding a breeder will be very difficult. However you will still need to focus on the four key areas: obedience, housebreaking, socialization and behavior. You will need to start tackling each one of these as soon as you bring your pup home. One of the first steps is to create a safe space for your dog to relax in while you are away. This is done through crate training. The crate will become your dogs den in the house, where they can feel safe and secure while they wait for you to come back home. When dealing with a bully breed, many assume that physical punishment should be used when training them. They could not be any more wrong. In reality the use of harsh correction and physical discipline will create aggression rather than eliminate it. Instead take advantage of your Golden Retriever Pitbull mixes loyalty. They will do anything to make you happy, so let them know how proud of them you are. If they misbehave just ignore it and they will catch on very fast. Loyal, intelligent, friendly, and social Training Status History and Origins Golden Retriever and Pitbull This crossbreed of dogs has been common for the past few decades. Crossbreeding is usually used to generate a new breed of canines. However, testing labs for dogs are mostly used in this method. Introducing new kinds of dogs in the world has become popular, but has also created controversy. In many cases, the loss of human life and lasting physical and emotional scars has been the cause. Most people are uncertain about the reason for breeding. They argue that knowing every single aspect of a pure breed is easy, but it is impossible to determine the behavior of mixed breeds. While others think that hybrid breeds have a wonder gene pool, and they are not prone to inherited diseases and are considered far healthier than their parent dogs. The Pitbull Golden Retriever Mix is also one of the healthiest crossbreeds. It is a result of mixing a loyal Pitbull Terrier and a humble-natured Golden Retriever. Unfortunately, like other mixed breeds, it is almost impossible to pin down their origin and why they were even created. However, if we look at the history of both, the Golden Retriever and the pitbull, we can see how these dogs influenced the mixed breed. You can find the roots of the pitbull at the start of the 19th century, in England, created from English Bulldogs for bull baiting. Later, this inhumane game was banned. These dogs were infamous for their aggression. After they got popular, people started using them as their companions and as farm dogs. The Golden Retriever has an older history than the Pitbull, and has its origins in the Scottish Highlands, during the mids. The retriever was primarily a hunting dog in those parts. These canines are comparatively less aggressive than Pitbulls. In short, because of the popularity of these two dogs, the golden retriever, and the pitbull, people may have thought of producing a hybrid that could have a concoction of their best qualities together. So, the intended outcome may have been to have a friendly dog capable of aggression when needed. Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix: Appearance and Temperament Appearance It is quite hard to predict the exact appearance of this hard-to-find hybrid, but you can see some positive traits of their parents, one way or another. Their looks can vary, and many totally depend on gene expression. All of them usually have a large and muscular physique that stands up 24 inches tall. However, they can be thin, broad, or a completely muscular build. Height and Weight The male can be 18 to 24 inches tall, whereas females can be 17 to 22 inches tall. They are mostly heavy and can weigh 30 and 75 pounds. Coat and Colors Another unique personality trait of this dog is that you can find some of them in various colors, all falling within the shades of golden. This dog can have solid gold colors, exactly the colors of a golden retriever, or a combination of darker colors with a white base. Your Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix can have a solid color, bi-colored, or even tri-colored. You will also find this breed with different types of fur coats too. This hybrid can be single or double-coated, with the fur of any length. A short coat tends to be thin, whereas, a long coat can be shady or wavy. Some dogs of this breed also have attractive curls in their fur. Temperament Because of the mixture of two dogs, this breed has some pretty unique personality traits. These strong companions have friendly and confident personalities. Sadly, their un-predictable nature can cause you difficulty in training and managing them. But one thing that never changes in this breed is their highly dynamic nature and love towards social interaction. This hybrid of a sporting dog and a terrier gives this breed extraordinary energy and strength. You have to create an environment where they can exhaust their energy without doing any harm to your property. Your dog will also let you know when it needs this type of surrounding. Because of their fun-loving nature and love for meeting new acquaintances, they have a desire to step out for a walk every day. They always need something to feel active; due to this, boredom frustrates them. Even if you encourage them to have fun all by themselves, they will end up trashing your property. They also take some time to adjust to your other pets. It is impossible to know what your dog will inherit from their parents and hard to predict their behavior. But no matter what they get from their genes, they are surely a devoted friend to you and your family. Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix vs. This golden companion is highly sociable and friendly compared to other dogs. The Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix is also more active than their furry friends. The most amazing thing is that they are aggressive, but you can train them. Through training, they transform into the best family dogs. The personality of a golden furry creature makes them different from other breeds. How to Train Your Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix Good training is always your responsibility as a dog owner, and it should be considered your top priority. These pups are very intelligent and are always ready to learn from you. It is best to give them their first training when they are young. Because of their active nature, they respond well, and you can provide them with food as a reward after training. They are willing to agree with you for praise or rewards like toys. The tarnished reputation of these Pitbulls tends to make people forget that these dogs are highly trainable. American Pitbull Terriers are the best service dogs for this reason. These four-leg companions have a natural desire to help people. As they are intelligent dogs, they become bored easily and always need mental stimulation. They also crave for their owner to build a relationship with them. When your dog is young, invite people over to tell them how to behave in front of your dog and give your guest treats so that they can feed your dog for good behavior. This way, your dog will feel happy, and your guests can have a good experience with your pup. This canine is best for active people or people who love outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, or running. These dogs are perfect partners for people who are active and love workouts. You may know that both the Golden Retriever and Pitbull have an undeniable love for swimming. This means that your hybrid pup will also love it. So, add swimming to their exercise curriculum. You can also take them for long walks and to play games involving a Frisbee. Moreover, it is vital to have large and secure backyards if you have a canine this big. This is because they are great climbers, so you need to prevent them from running or jumping outside your confines. A high fence is, therefore, a must. And stay close to them, if you are letting them run free without a leash, they can easily run off and be hard to catch. They easily make bonds with their owners and always remain faithful to their families. They are energetic compared to other dogs, and this ability makes them best for homes where they can have an area for exercises and playing regularly. They flourish in homes where they can have the company of someone during the daytime, especially someone who can workout with them and play with them. The social nature of this dog makes it a perfect dog for big families. They are great for older families too. Moreover, these canines also love to play with children, but it is better to consider the safety of your children if you have one, as these dogs can bite and can inflict some serious damage. Never leave your pup alone with your children, and also teach your children to treat your dog with kindness. Moreover, teach your puppy to play with your children. They can be good friends with your children. Giving these golden pups time, love, and attention will pay you off. You and your family will surely enjoy their presence in your home. The following are some benefits of having a beautiful and fun-loving dog: They remain loyal to you always. They have a loving nature. These dogs are good friends with children. You will feel amazed by their intelligence. You can train them easily. These canines are perfect for active and big families. People who want a companion for outdoor actives will fall in love with this pet. These dogs are prone to obesity because they consume a high amount of food. Wondering how to manage their diet? How much you can feed them depends on their weight. A good way is to make calculations of their food by comparing their weight. You can do this by giving them 30 calories for each pound of their body weight. For a pound dog, approx 2. Moreover, if you are feeding your dog the kibble with wet food, this changes the quantity of food they need. The most vital thing to consider is the protein content in their diet. Opt for foods that have high-quality ingredients, and that are high in fats and proteins. To give your Golden Retriever Pitbull Mix all the nutrients it needs, you need to choose a large-breed dog food, who can give them a long life span. Pick up foods that are rich in protein from an animal source such as meat, fish, and poultry. Limit the fat and calorie content in their foods. This will help you control their growth and maintain mass in adults. Moreover, when you are considering all the above factors, also find food that has a bigger kibble size. Bigger kibbles provide you a way to feed them smaller portions sizes, which give them all nutrients. Large breeds like golden Pitbulls have chances of bloating because of overeating. Should you be Worried about Any Health Issues? The Golden Pitbull Retriever Mix can suffer from various diseases, which can be mild as well as chronic. They are prone to joint problems, heart, eye, skin, ear, and hypothyroidism conditions as well as cancer. Because of their large and wide physique, they can also experience bloat, which can lead to death. These pups need health screening that is appropriate for both, Golden Retrievers and Pitbulls. The following are some screening needs for your canine: Hip Evaluation. The video was shared on TikTok earlier in March by the dog's owner, under the username Kopperkinodaily. In it, the fluffy dog, named Kopper, can be seen enjoying his owner's cuddles and giving her his paw as he winks at her. The viral post came with a caption that read: "What a half pitbull half golden retriever looks like. A crossbreed dog who is half a golden retriever and half a pit bull has melted hearts all over the internet. Veronica Garibey According to Alpha Paw, golden retriever-pit bull mix-breeds make great family dogs, and are undoubtedly friendly. The website states: "If you want a dog who can be your forever companion, this is for you. Golden retrievers are known for being one of the gentlest and softest dogs around, especially around children. They get along with anyone and are very patient. Pit bulls also share the same personality trait as retrievers, and they are very gentle and sweet dogs especially if you give them [the] right training. Christine Barton, veterinarian at The Vets, told Newsweek that mixing dog breeds can have potential complications in many ways, especially anatomy e. She said: "This can also include congenital, as well as genetic, disorders. These two breeds in particular are known for having sensitive skin and joint issues. Pit bulls are more likely to have cancers such as mast cell tumors than retrievers, who are more likely to have lymphoma. She said: "My neighbor had a blue female pit bull and a neighborhood stray that resembled a reddish-golden retriever got her pregnant. I got him entirely for free! All the pups were mutts but he was the only one that came out fluffy. His absolute favorite game ever is fetch with the tennis ball. He is all retriever when it comes to the tennis ball," she said. The video quickly went viral, attracting animal lovers from across the platform. It has so far received over 4. As a result of their size, they need to be on an excellent regular diet and fitness activities. The retriever and Pit Retriever has the potential of gaining weight without you noticing, and it can produce health complications. Keeping your Golden Retriever Pitbull at its ideal weight is easy, and you need to remember the following: Dedicate an active exercise regimen for them Give them plenty of walks Give them playtime to keep them engaged and fit There are many possibilities with what your Golden Retriever Pitbull might end up looking like, but you can expect that the build of your pup will take on the retriever, and the head from the Pit Bull. The Pitbull Retriever has a beautiful and unique coat, especially if the Pit Bull has a darker shade like black. There may be some instance when your pup can have a long black shaggy coat. If your Retriever and Pitbull takes on a long shaggy coat, then you need to be ready with giving them regular brushing and expect excessive shedding. You have nothing to worry about the temperament of Pitbull and Retriever Mix because they are generally well natured and friendly creatures. There may be several instances when the breed exhibits a rather odd trait, but this can all be corrected at a young age through the following: Train them at a young age; Give them exposure with other people and animals; Reward them for their excellent behavior. Do a bit of research to find out where your pups came from and whether they were successfully bred. You want to make sure that both the parents of the puppy are healthy. Doing your homework can help you avoid the following complications: Health complications. Development of negative personality traits. Shorter than average lifespan. Ask for documents to know the fitness of your puppies. A good and reliable breeder always have documents to show you the competence of the parents of the pups, as well as their health records. You can check whether they are updated with their vaccines and health records, and know what pre-existing conditions they might have. Most importantly, you want a breeder who already gave your pups some preventive vaccines. Crossbreeds can get very expensive, depending on the situation and where you get them. In most cases, the price is an excellent factor in determining the history of your pups. Here are some possible implications: Being charged a higher rate is average for the circumstance where the puppy shows a particular or rare trait. This can include different colors for the coat or eyes. Low charges can sometimes mean that the puppies were overbred, and overbreeding can often cause unhealthy litters. If your puppy takes after the coat of the Pitbull, a short, manageable coat, your job is relatively easy. Get their nails regularly trimmed, mainly because they are hyper dogs. Brush them regularly to eliminate loose furs. If your pup takes on the coat of golden retrievers, longer shaggy goats, then you need to give their grooming more attention. At times their grooming can be challenging especially because of their long shaggy coats. Be mindful, however, not to over bathe them since it might cause their skin to be dry. Your dog looks beautiful at all times. Regular brushing is an excellent place to start. All dogs have the propensity of developing genetic health problems, and some breeds are more prone than others. The Golden Retriever-Pitbull mix has an average life expectancy of 10 to 15 years, depending on their health. The combination is also likely to the following health problems: bloat, hip dysplasia, heart diseases, and cancer. Bloat is a medical emergency which is life-threatening to dogs. Bloat is among the leading cause of deaths for many large and giant dogs, which is why you need to watch out for the following symptoms: Swollen hard belly; Drooling; Signs of distress, pain and restless. Some of the symptoms of hip dysplasia include: Reduce activity and inability to jump and run properly. Having a hard time walking and exhibiting signs of pain. Although the Pitbull Golden Retriever mix is a large breed, you need to regulate their diet. Unlike the worst dry dog food, the best dry dog food contains all the nutrients dogs need. Avoid processed foods and choose ingredients rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, such as Wellness Core Dog Food or Dog For Dog Food. Adding food boosters such as Nutra Thrive dog food supplement can also be convenient. Unlike humans, dogs are better off with eating raw meat than cooked ones. Mind their size. Petite pooches have different dietary needs when compared to their larger cousins. Choose wisely between the best dry dog food for small dogs and the best large breed dry dog food according to the size of the pooch. Keep in mind their age. Age dictates the amount of needed nutrients, and best puppy food brands are not appropriate for older dogs, just as whelps will not make the most of the best senior dry dog food. Golden Retriever Pitbull Exercise Requirements Retriever Pitbull are highly energetic dogs, and they need a lot of exercises and to be with a playmate. A dog such as this retriever mix is excellent for someone who lives an active lifestyle, and who enjoys long walks, hikes, and the like. Take them on runs or when you want to exercise. Since Golden Pitbull is independent, training them can be hard because they can become stubborn. Let them know that you are in control and that they should respect your authority. A definite and firm hand lets them know of their place. Give your dogs some positive reinforcement especially when they do your commands right. Praising them for their excellent behavior helps encourage them to do your commandments. It can help to look at the parents of the puppy to get an idea about size and potential color, but even then, you can never be sure. Get the know the personality of this friendly mix Just as these dogs can vary in appearance, a Golden Retriever Pitbull mix can have a varied personality, as well. In general, this is a loyal, devoted, and family friendly dog who is happy watching and playing with the kids. Some are wary of strangers, but most are super friendly and social. Imagine how a Golden approaches the world ready to meet and mingle. Golden Retriever Pitbull mixes are usually similar. This can lead to digging, chewing, barking. The best way to do this is to leave calmly and give them a treat before you head out. This teaches them that leaving is a good thing. Be careful not to establish bad habits like begging unintentionally. Golden Retriever Pitbull mix have high energy and love to go hiking, walking, running, and swimming. This video shows a 5 month old having some playtime with their human. While they love their people, they can be independent. They may decide to ignore you and do what they want — so long as they can keep an eye on you. You need to keep them mentally stimulated, or watch out! They are aware of their surroundings at all times and will keep an eye out for intruders. That said, their personalities can be unpredictable and may have aggression issues. Especially if you get one from an irresponsible breeder who is just looking to make a buck. They have a high prey drive, so be careful if you plan to have them around cats, gerbils, or birds. That said, they do make good hunters and the squirrels in your neighborhood will need to keep an eye out. How to care for your Golden retriever pitbull mix Grooming will largely depend on the type of coat that your dog inherits. Long haired and double-coated dogs require more grooming than short or medium, or single coated dogs. The first should be brushed daily, while you can wait every days for shorter or medium, or single-coated dogs. That is, unless they get dirty. Use a dog-specific shampoo to prevent irritating their skin. Trim their nails every few weeks using a clipper or grinder. Be careful not to cut the quick. Brush their teeth every few days using a doggie-specific toothpaste and either a piece of gauze wrapped around your finger or a dog toothbrush. Clean their ears whenever you bathe them using an ear cleaning solution. This is especially true if your dog has Golden-like drop ears. TGolden Retriever Pitbull mixes need about 1, calories a day divided between two meals. Look for a high-quality kibble with meat as the first ingredient. Puppies should eat a large breed puppy food four times a day. The trick with making sure your dog has all the best traits and not the bad ones is training. This includes early socialization when your pup is young. Just keep it all positive. This means introducing them to new people and animals, and giving them treats or praise when they behave well. Repeat this with different noises, smells, and situations, like walking over a metal grate or being around an umbrella opening. You need to teach them to respect your space, your furniture, and your authority. Praise them when they behave well. You should also teach them to accept it when you leave to avoid separation anxiety, as we discussed above. Positive reinforcement starting right when they come to your home for the first time is key. This can include playing fetch, running, hiking, swimming, or anything else that they like to do. You can also mix in some mental stimulation in the form of puzzle games or treat toys like Kong stuffing treats. Is a pitbull golden retriever mix healthy? They have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. Watch out for: Hip dysplasia. Being a large and active breed, your doggo will need around 1, calories per day divided into two meals. Keep in mind that this is just a general estimate! Your dog may need more or less food depending on their age, activity levels, and any health problems. Golden retriever pit bull puppies should have four small, evenly spaced meals a day and eat high-quality puppy food designed for large breed dogs. After the first month or so, you can slowly transition your puppy to the formula of your choice. Long-haired golden pits, on the other hand, shed profusely and have to be brushed every day. The frequency of bathing will depend on how dirty and active your dog is. For most pups, once every three months will do the trick and help keep your mix looking and smelling great. However, you can always bathe your dog more often if they get extremely dirty or smelly from playing in the backyard or on outings. This grooming regimen should involve regular nail trimming, teeth brushing , and ear cleaning. To get your mix on board with their new grooming routine , start doing everything while they are still a puppy. The History of the Pitbull Golden Retriever Mix The Pitbull Golden Retriever mix was likely created during the s or early s, as mixed-breed enthusiasts sought to create a combination between the guarded, protective Pitbull Terrier and the ever-loyal, loving and physically beautiful Golden Retriever. Fortunately, plenty of history exists about the parent breeds of the Golden Pit, so we can glean information about the Pitbull Golden Retriever from each parent breed. The result was a competent hunting dog for retrieving small game such as ducks, foxes, and more. A far cry from their beloved family pet status of today, Golden Retrievers historically had a high prey drive and was used as a war messenger dog, along with other roles such as K9 sniffer dogs for police operations and more. Golden Retrievers have also been used as therapy dogs and emotional support dogs, renowned for their friendliness and affectionate nature. Goldens are also incredibly popular farm dogs and have been used for herding cattle in their past. Goldens arrived in the United States in the s and were recognized by the American Kennel Club in .Having already extreme popularity in the United Kingdom and Western Europe, their evolution to equal popularity in the United States seemed natural. The even-tempered, friendly, loving and loyal nature of the Golden Retriever makes them perfect for almost anyone! Unfortunately, their size and strength make them an ill-fit for the elderly and those living in apartments. The Golden Retriever was bred by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks, a Scottish baron and kennel keeper in the late 19th century. Combining the Tweed Water Spaniel, the Newfoundland dog, Red Setters, Bloodhounds and the flat-coated Retriever, Marjoribanks was able to create the beloved golden coat, happy-go-lucky companion pet that so many around the world know and love today. For this reason, it has also become an increasingly popular parent dog for crossbreeding. Some popular Golden Retriever mixes include:.

maltese yorkie poodle mix puppies - Bishop hails from the streets of the south, where he was trying to make it on his own and chasing the wrong type of dames. However, his life took a turn when he ended up in a scary place called "The Shelter. Bishop weighs around 55 pounds, and he wants the ladies to know that it's all muscle. But don't let his muscles fool you, he's as sweet as sugar and listens better than most men. He has a mix of boxer, lab, and pitbull in him, but his handsome looks mostly come from his pitbull side. And yes, the ladies love his guns! Unfortunately, Bishop's previous foster home had cats, and they didn't get along well. So, he's currently back in boarding, where he enjoys the company of other dogs and a kind lady who takes him for walks and plays ball with him. Bishop absolutely loves his toys and chasing balls. He can get a bit "mouthy" when teased with toys, but he redirects nicely. He enjoys going for walks, but if he spots a bird, rabbit, or squirrel, he's off like Richard Simmons in a workout video. However, he responds well to correction. Bishop is a goofball who doesn't take much seriously, except for treats. Treats are serious business to him, and he'll do just about anything for one. He loves peanut butter in his kabobs but avoids rawhide to maintain his playboy figure. With his big smile and awesome personality, Bishop hopes to find his forever home. He's fully vetted, which means he's had his shots and is neutered. He is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms using a method called Slow Kill. Bishop is an easygoing, sweet, smart, happy, cuddly, and laid-back dude. He loves exercising, playing catch, and chasing balls, but he also enjoys relaxing and taking naps. He would be more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch TV with his humans. A perfect day for Bishop would involve the three C's: chasing balls , catch, and chill. He simply wants a best friend, someone to love him and give him the attention he deserves. A house would be preferable to an apartment, but he's open to trying out apartment life if it's a good fit. Bishop is currently in training now and is available for adoption or foster. To learn more about him and start the adoption process, reach outr to us. Wecan provide you with Bishop's portfolio and an application for his forever home. Bishop can't wait to give you wet kisses and steal all your blankets. All puppies are brindle and white. They do tend to be better suited to homes with fenced yards where they can run, but they also adapt well to apartments provided they get enough daily exercise, attention, and mental stimulation. They do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat and extreme cold like many dog breeds. As such, they do not like to spend long periods of time alone. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Black Labrador Retriever can include elbow dysplasia , hip dysplasia, heart disease, hereditary myopathy, cataracts, and progressive retinal atrophy. Another potential health concern is EIC exercise-induced collapse , which can occur in young adult Labs and has a genetic link. Because carriers can be identified by DNA tests, it is recommended that breeders test for them. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies and reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you talk to the breeder about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a large, deep-chested dog breed, Labrador Retrievers are at a higher risk for bloat. Labrador Retrievers are one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. Although their high energy and puppylike exuberance can sometimes be a challenge, they are intelligent dogs that are eager to please. As long as training is kept consistent and focused on positive rewards and praise, novice owners still tend to do well with Black Labs. Puppy training classes are always an option and offer plenty of benefits aside from training too. Black Labs have a short, water-resistant double coat that sheds year-round and sheds heavier as seasons change. Depending on how active your Black Lab is and what they get into, they may need a bath more often, especially if they are swimming a lot. Weekly ear checks and careful cleanings when needed help prevent ear infections. Good dental care for dogs , like daily brushing and cleanings at the vet when needed, can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. As one of the most active dog breeds , a Black Labrador Retriever will need a lot of daily activity to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are a minimum. Your Black Lab will likely be up for more activity if you are. One of the facts about Labrador Retrievers is that they have an extended puppyhood. They tend to maintain a puppylike exuberance until they are years old. Although they do tend to mellow out as they get older, they are still active, energetic, and playful dogs. Once they are fully grown, you can try other things like hiking, running, dock diving, and more to find other activities you and your Black Lab can enjoy together. Fully-grown Black Labrador Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Black Labs generally live for years on average. Black Labrador Retrievers came before the also-popular Chocolate Lab. All modern Chocolate Labs can be traced back to three Black Labs in the s. It was the December issue of .Featured Black Labrador Retriever Article. Thank you David for all the joy you have given us.
