The following criteria greatly increases the chances that our dogs will find their forever home. If this is your first time owning a boxer, please refer to our boxer breed page. Ho-Bo Care is run entirely by volunteers, so please be patient with us. We do try to get to all applications within a week or two. Home Visits are required for all adoptions. Once your home visit is completed and approved, the volunteer will discuss which dog or dogs may be a good fit for your family. While we understand that a picture may draw you in, please do not select a dog based on looks alone. We do our best to get to know the dogs so that we are finding the best homes for them. We will not place you on a waiting list for a specific color or look. If you do not have a fence you can still adopt. Each dog is evaluated and placed in homes we feel would be ideal for them. All invisible fences use a form of a shock or vibration collar, which is not allowed with us. Invisible fences also do not keep other animals or people that could be hazardous to your dog out of your yard. We teach and train our dogs with positive reinforcements and praise, and we feel invisible fences are contradictory to this kind of training. We are able to adopt to some parts of Wyoming and Nebraska. Once they reach maturity, at age years, they tend to reach a point in their lives when living with another female becomes an issue. While we understand this isn't always the case, we choose to not take these risks. Therefore, we will not place puppies in homes where they will be left alone for long hours. We will not allow any adopter to pick a puppy by the picture or choose based on looks or color. Adoption decisions will be made upon meeting the puppies. Ho-Bo Care will not adopt two puppies of the same age together at the same time. Applications missing this information will not be followed up on. Adoption Fees. If not, here is the form! The number of Boxers being surrendered by families and in the shelters is overwhelming. We continue to receive owner surrenders a week, along with multiple pleas from surrounding shelters for Boxers in need. So many Boxer are coming from families that are no longer able to financially care for them, just don't want them, many are dealing with illness or the Boxer's pet parent has passed away, and many just are moving. Hana belonged to friends of Doreen, but Doreen and her boxer, Benjamin, fell in love with her. Benjamin and Hana were best friends, and Benjamin was always on the lookout for Hana and ready to protect her from any yappy Chihuahua who tried to intimidate her. In addition to being an active Strut Your Mutt teammate for each of the past 5 years, Doreen browses the boxers in our care and sponsors many dogs whose stories warm her heart. House-trained, Story Albert Pickle is a total ham and he knows it! He snorts like a pig and makes the funniest snort noises that instantly make you giggle. Albert is a rescue dog and with any rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. We believe Albert is to be an American Bulldog mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 60 lbs and we do not expect him to get much bigger if at all than his current size. Albert has the most adorable squishy smooshy face that is the perfect subject for picture opportunities and has the looks that will make everyone stop in your tracks. Albert is dog friendly and did great meeting all of the dogs we introduced him to. He will do well in a home with other moderately playful dogs that will also respect his space whenever he does not want to play and he would also make a great dog for a single pet household. Absolutely no kitties for Albert please, he liked our resident cats a little too much. He is what we consider medium to low energy and like most bulldogs, will not require a lot of exercise and would most likely do well in a apartment or condo. If you know bull dogs you know they can be very stubborn and set in their ways and training can be a little more of a challenge but Albert is very treat motivated which will make training that much easier. Bonus points: he already knows how to sit! He does respond well to corrections and checks in frequently with his handler. He will need some help polishing his leash skills as he can pull to things that excite him and will need to learn some basic obedience skills. He likes to jump every now and then when he gets excited or when those treats come out. Consistency, patience and treats will be key to setting Albert up to be the best doggy citizen he can be. He will be a great buddy to take with you to run errands, join you for a leisurely walk in the neighborhood on a cool day, and will love you forever if you take him to his favorite place the pet store where he can pick out his favorite treats and toys. Abert is crate trained and potty trained and can even stay in his crate for up to 8 hrs with no accidents! His foster says he is very calm and comfortable in the home and likes to follow her around like her little sidekick.
