These average goldens have been way over bred, including a fair amount of "inbreeding", and they tend to have the most health problems due to this. There are some very beautiful dogs in this category, but by far we feel you will find the most beautiful, distinctive dogs with predictable great temperaments and health within the English Creams and darker Goldens. Our personal favorites are the very dark goldens, though hard to find. They specialized in the very dark goldens for hunting and obedience trials. Unfortunately these two ends of the spectrum do have their own caveats. The English Creams are fast becoming over bred with claims of grandiose backgrounds, rampant breeding of so-called "English Creams" "specially imported" from some country by a breeder, and they don't look much like a golden, and come with arbitrary high prices. With the darker Goldens, especially the darker red's, they are in a sense being hi-jacked by seemingly elite hunting breeders, generally requiring you to only use the dog for hunting activities a "working dog" ; and, subsequently, the "Golden community" is starting to lose these dogs that make fantastic intelligent companions and they also make great "help" dogs for people. Several of our darker Goldens have gone this route, as well as for hunting. This is not to say that the English Creams aren't good for this, as well! Lastly, we have a wonderful relationship with boxer rescue in Puerto Rico, and we work closely with them to bring boxers in need, from the island, to New England. All of our boxers are temperament tested and evaluated before coming into rescue. It should be noted that ALL dogs require a decompression period when going to a new home. Can I adopt a female dog if I already have a female dog? The short answer is no. Our experience in placing dogs, has shown us that placing two females together is oftentimes not the best long term situation. We receive many calls from owners needing to surrender their female boxers because there is fighting with another female dog in the house. Either way, the fighting is often brutal and bloody. We have adopted a policy to never place two female dogs in the same house. Are your boxers healthy? They are brought up to date on vaccines, tested for heartworm, and spayed or neutered unless too young or not medically able to be. Their vet records are provided upon adoption. Do I need to have a fenced in yard to adopt a boxer? We do not require a fenced in yard for all of our boxers. We look at each dog, individually, and based on the needs of that dog, we may require fencing. Please note that we do not consider an electric fence to be a proper method of containment and are not able place a dog in a home that uses electric fencing. Do you have a shelter where I can come meet the boxers? We are not a shelter and do not have a physical location where you can meet our adoptees. Panda German Shepherds are simply uniquely colored offspring in a Shepherd line. These shepherds show unique markings of symmetrical black and white coloring, mostly around the face, often resembling markings of a panda bear. This coloring amongst other animals is known as Piebald. Out of that discovery, it was shown that future GSD breeding prospects could be tested in order to tell if they had a chance of producing panda offspring. This means that they have the same health record as their lineage. The overall health is dependent on the breeder in which the Panda came from, as is with all purebred dogs. Panda German Shepherds health depends on their lineage. A responsible breeder who genuinely cares about the outcome and health of their dogs will not breed dogs that are predisposed to health issues. However, there are certain health issues that German Shepherds including Pandas can have due to their build. Such things as hip dysplasia can be bred out of a line but because it is so prominent, it can skip generations or even littermates. A common health issue among German Shepherds that cannot be bred out is bloat. This happens due to the size of the breed, and is found among other large and giant breed dogs with deep chests. After all we know that a good GSD will deter and even prevent breaking and entering more times than being an actual Shame on insurance companies for preventing families that want to keep their things and family safe. The Panda gene does not change any internal workings of the GSD, it is merly a white pattern over the color that would normally be there if this gene were not present. Any health issues that crop up are or would be due to anything other than the Panda gene itself. Panda's can have one blue eye, partial China eyes, 2 blue eyes or traditional colored eyes that accompany the actual coat color of the GSD. UCDavis currently has a test on the market that is available to the public now to see if what you have had born in your litter is affected by the Panda gene or the white spotting gene. My recommendation is to test for the recessive white spotting gene and the Panda gene, so that you will know which gene caused the white spotting on your dog. So when you sell your puppy you advertise it for what it is and not as something it is not Panda. Remember all Panda's are related as they stem from one dog named Franka. In a Panda German shepherd, the piebald gene determines the proportion of white marking in a panda german shepherd puppies. That means a copy of the piebald gene is crucial in a dog with a white color in its coat, and that too only a single copy of that as two copies will increase the white markings on a Panda German Shepherds drastically. This piebald gene is quite rare to find in the dog, and so it is hard to find a dog breed with a coat resembling that of a Panda. It is a spontaneous mutation and has no white German Shepherds in it is ancestry. The rest of the puppies in the litter were standard looking black and tan German Shepherd pups.
