Let us provide you with a Labradoodle puppy and a forever friend. About Us The start! Tonia LeFrancois owner of Triangle Labradoodles started this dream with family in mind! Her son was born with several allergies that would keep him from having a puppy. Tonia feels that every little childs life is not complete with out a puppy. After months of research we found the Australian labradoodle to be the best fit for us. With the help of Jenny Blume at Swinging gate kennels we provided our family a loving female named Aspen. Aspen stole every heart in the family and know her son has his best friend! Now we would like to offer that option to others so they too can have a dog in their family. This is why here at Triangle Labradoodles we want to provide quality pets to other familes that need a best friend. With this in mind all puppies here at Triangle labradoodles are raised in our home with 3 children as part of our family so they will fit in well with yours. Staying true to the vision of those who founded this incredible breed is an important element of our breeding philosophy. A proud member of the Australian Labradoodle Club of America, it is our goal to provide the most loving environment possible for our puppies. We will only work with the best breeders available to provide the highest quality and healthiest doodles around. We will strive for a low volume high quality approach for producing puppies. We are not a kennel and all puppies are raised in our home as part of the family. The Australian Labradoodle is different from all other labradoodles. Dogs from this cross typically were bred to each other over future generations, whereby the Australian dogs are also know as "Multi-generational" Labradoodles. The resulting labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition. Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry. The Australian Labradoodle Club of America was founded exclusively to foster and protect the original Australian Labradoodles that have come directly from Tegan Park and Rutland Manor breeding stock, or their offspring. Our mission is to maintain and improve the quality and soundness of the Australian Labradoodles, and to carefully monitor the further development of the breed. All member breeders are carefully screened to help ensure the future of the Australian Labradoodle. Our member breeders must breed to the highest standards. We have Breeder Mentors to assist member breeders and to help new breeders get off to a good start. The goal was to join with breeders across America in the development of a pure breed dog and to unite these breeding programs for one common cause, the preservation of the Authentic Australian Labradoodle. Our breed is in its final stage and is renowned for its amazing traits and has proven to be consistent and reliable. Its intuitive nature, uncanny ability to sense and in some cases self teach the art of being a medical alert dog, the direct eye to eye contact and their desire to please makes them one of the most trainable dogs in America. This breed is hypoallergenic, non shedding and is one of the most sought after dogs in America. Our goal is to protect and improve the breed health as we move towards pure breed status. Contact Us. Mild mannered, yet protective, they are great family watchdogs, yet wonderful with children. Poodles come in three sizes: Standard Poodles , Miniature Poodles and Toy Poodles ; no other breeds were used to obtain these specific sizes. They come in a variety of colors:? In order to be in the conformation show ring, poodles must be one color. Choosing a Poodle Being a conscientious breeder means breeding to continually improve quality of the dogs, not for financial gain. The study of genetics is very important in selecting breeding dogs. Knowing the backgrounds of the bloodlines in your dog's pedigree is essential in order to do as much as possible to prevent genetic disorders, such as such as hip dysplasia. Keep this in mind when acquiring a puppy, for only a healthy companion, full of vitality, can give you many years of shared happiness. A puppy mill is where dogs are bred only for financial gain, without concern for their health and the conditions in which they are raised. The genetic health and temperament do not matter, as long as the pups can be sold for cash. If you buy from a pet store, you are only getting a puppy, secondhand, from a puppy mill. In most cases, a broker for an out-of-state puppy mill sends the pups to the pet store. These brokers acquire the pups long before they should be taken from their mothers. Normally, no shots are given and these animals are prime candidates for serious canine diseases, such as parvo and distemper. Well-intentioned people may sometimes buy from puppy mills or pet stores because they feel so sorry for the puppy. Please don't. All this purchase does is allow these terrible practices and unhealthy environments to continue, and it contributes to the profit these unscrupulous people make from mistreating dogs. Backyard Breeders You may pay a cheaper price for a pup from a backyard breeder, but you will not have solid information about the health and temperament. In most cases, these people do not know anything about the genetics of their breeding pair or how to produce a healthy puppy. The cheaper price is not worth the gamble you are being asked to take. Responsible breeders will provide each buyer with a written genetic health guarantee - not a 3 to 90 day guarantee. They will want to know about you and your family in order to match you with the pup that is best suited to your lifestyle and your home environment. These breeders are educated professionals who are concerned about keeping the breed as healthy as possible for the next generations. With a deep love of the breed, in general, and their dogs, in particular, they will offer references, including giving you their vet's name and phone number. In addition, they will be there for you should any unforeseen problems arise, or to answer questions, share new knowledge and provide advice for years to come. You get what you pay for. When the purchase price is too cheap, it may mean large vet bills and an ill puppy, or a temperament problem, down the road ahead. If you cannot afford to purchase a puppy or an older dog from a reputable breeder, please adopt from your local Humane Society, rather than from a puppy mill, pet store or backyard breeder. Our high ethical standards require all puppies being placed into pet homes will be spayed or neutered. Labradors love water, and care must be taken not to let a puppy go near a pool, or it will drown, as it does not know how to get out. The Labrador became popular in England as a gun dog and was used to retrieve game that the hunter had shot. Welcome to Mirain Labradors, South African owner of labradors and occasional breeder of labradors. Mirain Labradors carefully select and breed yellow, black and chocolate labrador puppies. Our History I was brought up with labradors, my folks bred labradors and I have personally been owned by a labrador for 3 decades. When my kids finished school I decided to show and breed this adorable breed and have made many friends along the way. Our Beliefs Our labradors are family pets and when we are home they spend their time inside with us and sleep in our bedrooms. The labrador puppies are whelped and brought up inside our home and are very well cared for by their mom and the rest of the family. We are a very small scale breeder and have only 1 litter a year from my labrador girls, currently this is 1 litter per year. A contract will be drawn up between the purchaser and seller to protect both parties and puppies. Make sure you read our section on how to select a healthy, happy labrador puppy and familiarize yourself with a labradors health as well. Our Labradors Diet Our dogs are fed on Hills Science Plan, which is what the puppies will be weaned on and a free Hills Puppy Pack is given to each new owner when they collect the puppy.

As with most purebreds, French Bulldogs have in-built health issues. This causes some major problems when it comes to giving birth, and special care is needed if you are to avoid the pitfalls and dangers ahead. The mother needs to be given medication to let her body know that her babies have been born, as the natural hormones would not have been released. She may not bite through the birth sacs or the umbilical cords, so you should be prepared to help out here. Special DAP Dog Appeasing Pheremone collars are often used to combat the problem of mother dogs not bonding with their puppies, usually starting several days before the C-section. However, the owner or breeder should be fully prepared to step in and take over the job of caring for these tiny bundles of joy. They will need all the help and love you can give them. Some breeders and owners prefer to allow a natural birth, despite the risks. Being Prepared Preparation is key to the safe and successful delivery of the puppies. It pays to have everything on standby in case the mother begins to whelp before the scheduled C-section appointment. Although the date can be predicted pretty accurately, the time can be out by about 24 hours. However gentle they usually are, they might snap at little hands that get too close. Plastic whelping boxes are lightweight and easier to keep clean than wooden ones, which can harbor parasites and germs. Make sure the box is large enough for the mother to stretch out but small enough to keep her precious puppies close, with easy access for her to get out without the puppies escaping. Any equipment you use should preferably be sterile. Placing a plastic sheet around the whelping area and under the box will help. What To Expect Photo from: ansem. As the hour approaches, she will pant a lot and become restless before lying down, upon which she will begin trembling. Soon after this, she will begin to push. The best sign of the start of labor is a sudden drop in body temperature, from around .Once she starts to push, the first puppy should appear within twenty minutes. If there is no sign of birth after this time, then call for assistance immediately as there is a good chance that puppy number one is stuck. Hopefully, all will be well, and the puppy is born safely. Help momma dog out if she needs it by cleaning and cutting cords. She should lick her babies clean as this will help her bond as the scent causes hormones to be released. The birth process is exhausting for the mother, so help her whenever you can. If at any time she becomes distressed, or things go wrong, call for help immediately, or both she and her Frenchie baby could be at serious risk of death. Clean up the area as much as you can without disturbing them, and leave them to it. But your work, in some senses, has only just begun! Caring For A Newborn French Bulldog Whether whelped at home or delivered by C-section, both mom and her new babies will need your help. One new puppy is a challenge. You might have two, three, or more, plus their tired mom to look after! However, in some cases, the mother may not naturally take to feeding. This can be a problem when the birth has not been natural. If you need to step in, ready-made puppy formula is available, or you may wish to make your own. Allow enough flow to let them feed easily without it overflowing around their mouth and nose. For the first week, they need to be fed every two hours. This can be extended to three or four hours in the second week, especially if they look healthy and are a good size. Potty Training Like any newborn baby, they will look to their mother for guidance, but you will most likely have to lend a hand. They will not poop or pee of their own accord, and mom has to stimulate this action by licking them. After this, you will obviously have to clean them up. Newborn French Bulldog puppies lack the ability to regulate their own body temperature in the first week of their lives. Overheating can be fatal. Check the areas for drafts and plug any gaps where cold air is flowing, but do make sure there is a slightly cooler area for mom and her babies to escape to if they want to. Frenchies, in general, due to their flat face, can be prone to overheating throughout their lives, so you should always keep this in mind. Keep Them Clean Any newspaper that becomes soiled should be replaced as soon as possible, and blankets or sheets should be washed regularly. These precious pups are vulnerable to staph infections and can get sick really quickly. Diarrhea or vomiting are serious problems, leading to dehydration, which can be a killer. If they are feeding naturally from mom, they will be getting the nutrition they need and protection in the form of antibodies to help fight infection. Development They will need to nurse or be fed formula for about three to four weeks before weaning. By this time, they will have changed significantly. When born, and for the first week, they are blind, deaf, and only able to move by wriggling. They will also react to sound even though their ears are just starting to open. By now, they are able to defecate and urinate by themselves, without help. This is a good time to begin things like toilet training. Place a shallow water bowl within reach, and be sure to remove any small objects from the area as they are likely to choke on them! They will be more independent and will play with their siblings, sometimes getting pretty rough. By the sixth week, they should be fully weaned and eating good-quality puppy food. As well as interacting with their siblings and mother, they should be showing interest in humans too. This is the time to book them in for vaccinations. Up to this point, the puppies have been courageously investigating their little world, their natural curiosity overcoming any fears. Now, however, they should start to display caution, especially with new objects or experiences. An eight-week-old French Bulldog puppy should now be fully formed, with deep brown eyes and weighing between 5 and 7 pounds. As loyal, fun, playful, and cute as they can be, this breed faces a host of health issues. They require special care and consideration, and you should only take them on if you are prepared to do what it takes to keep them healthy and give them the love they deserve. Pin 0 Shares Just like humans, French Bulldogs get fevers. The reasons for a high fever, or high temperature in a Frenchie are varied, but are mainly down to infections you can read all the reasons lower down the page. But how exactly can you tell if your Frenchie has a high fever and temperature, and when should you be worried? How do I know if my French Bulldog has a fever? Normal French Bulldog temperature should range from to .A high fever is degrees or more, with degrees being very dangerous. If his nose if hot and dry, it could mean he has a fever — sometimes this can look like a classic cold like humans get. Yes, just like vets do! Signs of a French Bulldog fever Aside from the obvious taking of the temperature, there are other ways in which you can tell if your French Bulldog has a high fever. Here are the most common high fever symptoms to look out for: Coughing: Your Frenchie could have a high fever due to kennel cough. This is a highly contagious infection that can spread very quickly between dogs. But you should know your dog better than one, so a low mood could be a fever. Red eyes: Sore looking eyes could mean a range of illnesses , but are also on the list of things to check for if you suspect a high fever. Shivering and shaking: A French Bulldog with high fever will shiver. The shivering happens as their body contracts and relaxes the muscles to generate heat, leading to shivering movements. Vomiting: Sickness can be a high fever sign if related to an infection after something your Frenchie ate. Warm and dry nose: This symptom will typically be coupled with another fever sign from the list. Warm ears: Similarly, warm ears can also be a sign that your Frenchie has a high temperature and fever. What can you give a Frenchie with a fever? If you believe your French Bulldog has a fever, call the vet. A fever is considered any body temperature reading that is higher than degrees Fahrenheit. Infections Your Frenchie might have a bad infection leading to a high fever. The types of infection can be bacterial, fungal, and viral, and include:. This means that they cannot generate their body heat and regulate their body temperature in response to changes in their environment. French Bulldog Puppy To create a warm and cozy environment for your puppy, you can use a heating pad or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel. Make sure that the heating source is not too hot, as overheating can be just as dangerous as hypothermia. You should also ensure your puppy has enough space to move away from the heat source if they get too warm. Signs of hypothermia in newborn puppies include shivering, lethargy, and a weak pulse, while signs of overheating include panting, restlessness, and excessive drooling. Providing a warm and comfortable environment for your newborn French Bulldog puppy can help ensure their overall health and well-being during their first few weeks. Monitor Their Feeding Newborn French Bulldog puppies require frequent feedings to help them grow and develop properly. They must be fed every two to three hours, including at night. You can use a bottle or a syringe to feed your puppy a special formula for newborn puppies. French Bulldog Puppy When feeding your puppy, ensure that it is in a comfortable position and that its head is slightly elevated. This will help prevent them from inhaling milk, which can lead to respiratory problems. You should also monitor their feeding to ensure that they are getting enough milk and not experiencing any digestive issues, such as vomiting or diarrhea. If your puppy is not feeding well or has diarrhea, contact your veterinarian for advice. They may recommend changing the formula , adjusting the feeding schedule, or other treatments to help your puppy feel better. Provide a Safe and Comfortable Sleeping Space Newborn French Bulldog puppies spend most of their time sleeping, as sleep is essential for their growth and development. Therefore, provide them with a safe and comfortable sleeping space that promotes restful sleep. This helps create a cozy, den-like environment that provides your puppy with a sense of security and comfort. The enclosure should be small enough to make your puppy feel secure but large enough to allow them to stretch out and move around comfortably. Mom and Puppy French Bulldogs Ensure that the sleeping area is free of drafts, as newborn puppies are susceptible to changes in temperature. You can use a heating pad or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel to provide additional warmth for your puppy. Just ensure that the heating source is not too hot and that your puppy has enough space to move away from the heat if needed. In addition to creating a comfortable sleeping space, establish a regular sleep schedule for your puppy. This can help promote healthy sleep habits and prevent disruptions to their sleep cycle. You can also try to create a bedtime routine that includes quiet playtime or cuddling, which can help your puppy relax and fall asleep more easily. This can be done by washing any bedding or blankets and wiping the enclosure with a mild disinfectant. Keep Them Clean Newborn French Bulldog puppies require frequent cleaning to keep them healthy and comfortable. Puppies at this age cannot yet control their bodily functions, so they will need assistance with cleaning and grooming. This includes cleaning their face, paws, and bottom after each feeding to prevent infections and other health issues. This can help prevent skin irritation and infection. You can use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe away any food or dirt that may have gotten on their paws. Be sure to dry their paws thoroughly to prevent the growth of bacteria in damp areas. You can use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe their bottom after each feeding. Be sure to clean in the direction of their fur to prevent skin irritation. In addition to cleaning, grooming your puppy is also important to keep them healthy and comfortable. You can use a soft brush to gently groom their fur , which can help remove any dirt or debris and promote healthy skin and coat. Schedule a Visit to the Vet One of the most critical steps in caring for your newborn French Bulldog puppy is to schedule a visit to the vet soon after they are born. This is essential to ensure your puppy is healthy and free from any health issues needing attention. French Bulldog Puppy Vaccinations are essential for protecting your puppy from diseases that can be life-threatening, such as distemper, parvovirus, and rabies. Puppies are susceptible to internal parasites, such as roundworms and hookworms, which can cause a range of health issues, including diarrhea, weight loss, and poor growth. Your vet will recommend a schedule for deworming to keep your puppy healthy and free from these parasites. For example, they can provide tips on feeding, grooming, and general care to ensure your puppy is healthy and happy. Socialize Them Socialization is an important aspect of puppy care and is particularly important for French Bulldogs. As your puppy grows and develops, expose them to different people, animals, and environments to help them develop into confident, well-adjusted adults. Socialization starts early, and you can begin by inviting friends and family members to visit your puppy at home. This will help your puppy get used to meeting new people and will help them learn that strangers can be friendly and safe. You can also take your puppy on short outings to places like the park, the pet store, or even just for a walk around the neighborhood. These outings will help your puppy become accustomed to new sights, sounds, and smells, which will help them feel more comfortable and confident in different environments. French Bulldog Puppy with Other Puppies When introducing your puppy to new people or animals, do so in a controlled and safe environment. Always supervise your puppy and ensure they are comfortable with the new experience. If your puppy seems frightened or overwhelmed, take a step back and allow them to adjust at their own pace. You can also use treats and positive reinforcement to help your puppy associate new experiences with positive feelings. Introduce your puppy to other dogs in a safe and controlled environment. Puppy socialization classes are a great way to do this, as they provide a safe and structured environment for your puppy to interact with other dogs and learn necessary socialization skills. These classes are typically run by experienced trainers who can help your puppy learn how to play, communicate, and interact with other dogs safely and positively. In addition to socializing your puppy with people and other animals, you must expose them to different environments. This can include various types of flooring, stairs, and even car rides. This will help your puppy become more confident and adaptable, making it easier for them to adjust to new situations as they grow older. Provide Regular Exercise While French Bulldogs are not the most active breed, they still require regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. Exercise can help them maintain a healthy weight, improve their cardiovascular health, and prevent behavior issues from boredom and pent-up energy. As your puppy grows and becomes more mobile, you can incorporate short walks into its daily routine. Start with short, slow-paced walks that gradually increase in length and intensity as your puppy grows. You can also play games with your puppy in the backyard, such as fetch or tug-of-war, to help them burn off excess energy and strengthen their muscles. French Bulldogs are sensitive to heat and can quickly become overheated, leading to serious health problems. So avoid exercising your puppy during the hottest part of the day, and always ensure they have access to plenty of water and shade. In addition to physical exercise, mental stimulation is also vital for French Bulldogs. These intelligent dogs enjoy learning and problem-solving, so you can provide mental stimulation by playing games such as hide-and-seek or teaching your puppy new tricks. Remember that every puppy is different, and their exercise needs will vary depending on their age, health, and activity level. Always consult your veterinarian to determine an appropriate exercise routine for your puppy. While newborn French Bulldog puppies are generally healthy, they are still vulnerable to specific health issues, such as infections, parasites, and congenital defects. They can also advise on vaccinations, deworming, and other preventative care measures. Some common signs of illness in puppies include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, and fever. If you notice any of these symptoms or any other unusual behavior, contact your vet immediately. Newborn puppies are generally quiet and sleepy, but as they grow older, they should become more active and curious. If your puppy is lethargic, unresponsive, or displays unusual behavior, it could indicate an underlying health issue. Train Them Training is essential to raising a well-behaved and obedient dog, and French Bulldogs are no exception. As your puppy grows and develops, you can teach them basic commands such as sit, stay, come, and heel. Training should be a fun and positive experience for you and your puppy. Positive reinforcement techniques such as treats, praise, and playtime effectively teach your puppy new commands and behaviors. Avoid using punishment or physical force, as this can cause your puppy to become fearful or aggressive. Use a clear and consistent verbal cue when teaching your puppy a new command. Your puppy should naturally sit down as it looks up at the treat. Repetition and consistency are vital in reinforcing good behaviors and correcting unwanted behaviors. Keep training sessions short and frequent, and gradually increase the difficulty of the commands as your puppy becomes more confident and skilled. Socialization is also an essential aspect of training for French Bulldogs. Expose your puppy to different people, animals, and environments to help them develop into well-adjusted and confident adults. For example, take your puppy on walks in other neighborhoods, introduce them to friendly dogs, and bring them to pet-friendly events. In addition to basic commands, teach your puppy proper leash etiquette, potty training, and crate training. These skills will not only make your life easier but will also ensure that your puppy is well-behaved and happy. Provide Plenty of Love and Attention French Bulldogs are social animals that crave attention and affection from their human companions. They are known for their affectionate and loyal personalities and thrive on human interaction. As a new puppy owner, dedicate time each day to play, cuddle, and bond with your furry friend. Playing with your puppy is a great way to bond and give them exercise and mental stimulation. French Bulldogs may not require as much training as other breeds but still benefit from regular playtime. Playing fetch, tug-of-war, or hide-and-seek are all fun games you can play with your puppy to keep them engaged and active. French Bulldog Puppy Cuddling with your puppy is also needed. French Bulldogs love to snuggle and enjoy being close to their human companions. Cuddling with your puppy can help reduce their stress levels and promote feelings of happiness and contentment. You can also use cuddling to bond with your puppy while you watch TV or relax at home. In addition to playtime and cuddles, provide your puppy with training and socialization. Exercise helps to establish good behavior and can help prevent future behavior problems. Positive reinforcement techniques such as treats and praise are effective ways to train your puppy and help them learn new commands. Socialization is also vital for French Bulldogs. Early exposure to different people, animals, and environments can help your puppy become more confident and well-adjusted. Take your puppy on short outings to the park or pet store, invite friends and family over to meet your new furry friend, and enroll them in puppy training classes to expose them to new experiences and help them develop social skills. Conclusion In conclusion, taking care of a newborn French Bulldog puppy requires patience, dedication, and a lot of love. By following these tips, you can ensure that your puppy gets the best possible care and has the best chance of growing into a healthy, happy adult. Reasons a French Bulldog puppy might die early on are usually due to difficult whelping, congenital or genetic defects, environmental factors i. However, the following formula is cheaper and provides all the nutrition. Many use it instead of evaporated milk — both can be found in the bakery section of your grocery store. If this seems to be, change to bottled water to make the formula. Keeping the litter box tempature between degrees with no drafts for the first few days is usually adequate. Other sources of warmth can be heating pads or heat lamps. If using a heating pad, monitor the intensity of heat, as pups have been known to cook on pads set on high settings! There are many excellent heat lamps on the market, but remember that caution is needed. Heat lamps have been known to start fires! The temperature on the French Bulldog puppies 1 inch above the bottom of the box should be about degrees with a corner that is slightly cooler and allow them to scoot to wherever they like best. There should also be plenty of clean blankets, as this will allow for regulation of temperature. Hydration is one of the most important things to monitor in new Frenchie pups, as it can be one of the first signs of problems. Check hydration by by pinching the skin on the back of the neck or on the top of the back. If the pinched skin stays creased, the French Bulldog puppy is dehydrated and needs fluid replacement. Dehydration can either be a result of inadequate nourishment, too much heat, or sickness. It is strongly suggested that you use regular newborn or infant bottles and nipples. The ones available for purchase for cats, dogs, ferrets, etc. Bottle feeding is far more preferable. The sucking on a nipple, the handling and holding of the French Bulldog puppy is so very important to their overall development. The French Bulldog puppy should be held with his head upwards and his body and tail down in a 45 to 90 degreee angle when bottle feeding. If French Bulldog puppies and their blankets are not kept clean, it is very easy to come down with a staph infection and diarrhea — which is serious, as Frenchie puppies can go downhill quickly. As mentioned before, it is equally serious if the French Bulldog puppies get chilled so avoid drafts. Even if you have them in a basket with a heating pad, you need to cover the basket with a towel to keep out drafts. A chilled French Bulldog puppy must be warmed up. There are lots of little ways to accomplish it. Priority should be to get the Frenchie puppy warmed up slowly. Newborn French Bulldog puppies cannot regulate their body temperature or body functions like urinating and stools. It is important that they are pottied at each feeding. They might not have a stool each time, but they will urinate. This is what the mother does when she licks them. After that, she will become a good mommy. Some might start off being good, then after a few days, or even a couple of weeks, not want to be bothered and might even be nasty to the puppies such as snapping and biting them. Always be careful and watch. If the mother will not clean the babies, you must be sure to do it. Using a kleenex, gently rub the area to stimulate their potty. Then be sure to clean them well. Make sure to check them even if the mother cleans them. Often the stool will get stuck to the tail and be dry. If that happens, or if the French Bulldog puppy seems to be straining and constipated, try the following: Run warm water in the sink slowly. Put a drop of soap on their behinds, and wash and massage their behinds; it will get the tail and poop unstuck, clean them up, and cause them to potty very well. If the little bottoms are red and sore, use some Desitin ointment. You may see green puppy stools and stools that have an appearance of bunches of tiny seeds. If all else seems normal, this seems to be harmless and short-lived. However, watery diarrhea can be very serious if left unchecked. Diarrhea together with vomiting usually means infection. It should be broken into feedings every 2 hours 5cc per feeding. If it is a good sized Frenchie puppy 1 lb. Towards the end of a week, you should increase the food needed to about cc or more. For the first week they should eat every two hours. If they are good size Frenchie babies, you can sometimes go longer. An average weight for newborn French Bulldog puppies is around ounces. Good size puppies are oz. Share on: Do you have a reference chart for the right temperature for a puppy by age? All of our lives would be simpler if there was just one answer to that question. There are more facets to choosing the right temperature for a puppy by age. The condition of the puppy is important. The behavior of a puppy inside the incubator is generally the determinant to fine tune the required incubator temperature. We learn a lot from first time users of our products and people who borrow an incubator. If you are lending a Puppywarmer incubator to someone, please take a moment to share how it has changed the way you care for neonatal puppies. Your story will help understand the product better. This is a general purpose temperature that benefits most puppies. We encourage you to continue reading. Over the course of time a deeper understanding will help you save the puppies that are not like most puppies. Many breeders do the same. A puppy in an incubator could be: Small for gestational age SGA. Many SGA Puppies have difficulty regulating internal temperature due to the appearance of little or no body fat and a smaller overall body mass. Premature puppies also have greater than average difficulty maintaining internal body temperature. Some breeds, such as Bulldogs and French Bulldogs are kept in the incubator longer. From there, the incubator temperature is lowered based upon the behavior of the puppy. Canine Herpes Virus. This raises the internal body temperature of a puppy so that the Virus cannot replicate and some of the virus is killed off. We strongly recommend working out the treatment protocol with your veterinarian. Cleft palate. While the above examples are common reasons that a puppy would find itself in an incubator. Our experience is that all puppies are not alike. There could be something about its specific condition that requires more fine tuning of the environmental temperature. While all puppies are not alike, almost all behave in a similar fashion in response to internal body temperature. Essentially, it is limiting the amount of surface area exposed to the air to reduce heat loss. If this is a primary behavior the environmental temperature is too cold. Puppy pile. This is another behavior to reduce the amount of surface area exposed to the air. The environmental temperature is too cold. Spending the majority of the time pressed against the glass. The puppy is maximizing the amount of skin surface against a cooler object glass exposed to room temperature to reduce internal temperature. This puppy is too warm. Moving between the center and glass. The puppy is actively fine tuning its internal body temperature. The movement helps the puppy get stronger sooner. Puppies laying on sides. Neonates will often orient themselves in a position where the head is closer to the glass and the body is closer to the center of the incubator. A full incubator at the right temperature without a puppy pile. This is a very comfy puppy. Rescue, Breeders and Vet Techs offer insights to one another. Topics can go beyond the operation of the incubator and oxygen concentrator. It has proven to be an excellent resource. If you are reading this page, you were probably hoping for a simpler answer. Neonatal puppies are fascinating. Understanding the behavior of your specific puppy is key to fine tuning their environmental temperature. Once you are better able to identify the behaviors, your puppy saving skills become stronger. Previous Post. French Bulldog Care How to take care of newborn french bulldog puppies? Most, if not all, owners will let their litter grow for about 9 weeks before finding them their forever home. These initial weeks are very crucial as the newborn puppies initially cannot see, hear, regulate their body temperature, defecate nor urinate on their own. Although the mother keeps her babies warm, you should always check to make sure that she does not accidentally suffocate the puppies. Other artificial sources of heat like heat lamps, heating pads, or a space heater may be used but be very careful because the puppies can easily dehydrate and die when overheated. Make sure that the temperature of the whelping box is at a range of 86 to 90 degrees. It is important to check their weight every day and make sure that they are gaining weight daily. If not, you should take a closer look at them to make sure they nurse adequately from their mom or provide them with a supplement like goats milk or prepared formula milk for puppies. Stimulation For Bowel Movement The mothers need to stimulate the puppies for them to urinate and defecate. Some mothers will do this regularly but others may not want to so it is up to you to do it. Use damp cotton balls with warm water or a small dab of petroleum jelly on your finger. Gently wipe this over their genitals until they urinate and defecate, then clean them up. Make sure that the puppies and their whelping box are clean to avoid infection. About Us The exclusive destination for all your luxury accessory needs. Inspired by French Bulldogs, made for all pups. Owning a French Bulldog can be a wonderful and rewarding experience and while they are adaptable to a wide range of temperatures and climates, it is important to always ensure that your French Bulldog is comfortable and safe no matter the temperature. Understanding what temperature is too hot for a French Bulldog is critical for responsible pet owners and can help prevent heatstroke and other ill-effects of high temperatures on these sensitive and beloved animals. This range of temperature is where French Bulldogs tend to be most comfortable, thriving and able to exercise safely. Temperatures outside of this range, particularly on the higher end, can cause distress for these dogs. As such, hot and humid temperatures should be avoided as much as possible. Whenever the temperature is high, you should take extra precautions such as: Provide Shade: Most outdoor activities such as walks and fun should be done in the early mornings or late evenings when the air is cooler. During hotter hours, ensure that your French Bulldog has plenty of shady areas to hide. Regular Breaks: Whenever you are out with your French Bulldog, take regular breaks in shaded areas and provide your pup with lots of fresh water to keep them hydrated. Cool Walks and Swims: Walks throughout the day should be kept short in order to avoid placing extra strain on your French Bulldog due to the high temperatures. Swimming can be a fun and cool alternative, provided it is done in a safe environment and your Frenchie is supervised or wearing an appropriate life jacket. Heatstroke Risk It is very important to note that heatstroke can happen to French Bulldogs if the proper attention and care is not taken when temperatures reach a certain limit. Symptoms of heatstroke include excessive panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting and confusion. If you believe your Frenchie has heatstroke, seek immediate medical assistance. In conclusion, it is important to ensure that your French Bulldog is kept in comfortable and safe temperatures. Knowing the limits and risks of higher temperatures is important for any responsible pet owner. French bulldog temperature The French Bulldog is a brachycephalic breed, which means they have a shortened skull and a flat-shaped face. This characteristic makes them more prone to heat-related issues. Normal body temperature for a French Bulldog is between .Anything above this range can be considered a fever and may indicate an underlying health issue. On the other hand, when it comes to hot weather, it is important to be aware of what temperature is too hot for a French Bulldog. French Bulldogs are highly sensitive to heat and can quickly suffer from heatstroke. When the ambient temperature rises, it is essential to provide them with a cool and shaded environment, plenty of fresh water, and limit their exercise to prevent overheating. If you suspect your French Bulldog is overheating, it is important to take immediate action. Signs of overheating include excessive panting, difficulty breathing, drooling, and weakness. To cool them down, you can wet their paws, apply cool not cold water to their belly, or use a fan. It is crucial to contact a veterinarian if the symptoms persist or worsen, as heatstroke can be life-threatening for your beloved pet. How hot is too hot for frenchies French Bulldogs are known for their adorable looks and friendly personalities. However, their short noses and compact bodies make them more susceptible to heat-related issues than other breeds. As a general rule of thumb, temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit can be dangerous for French Bulldogs. Their short snouts make it difficult for them to cool down efficiently, and they can easily overheat in hot weather. Signs of overheating in French Bulldogs include excessive panting, difficulty breathing, drooling, and weakness. Move them to a cooler area, offer them a cool towel to lie on, and wet their paws with cool water. High humidity can also pose a risk to their health. When the air is humid, their bodies struggle to cool down through panting, and they become more prone to heatstroke. Keep an eye on humidity levels and limit outdoor activities during humid days. Prevention is key when it comes to protecting your French Bulldog from overheating. Avoid exercising them during the hottest parts of the day and opt for early morning or evening walks instead. Consider investing in cooling products such as cooling mats or vests to help regulate their body temperature. Related Info And Products:.

Removing eye boogers daily. That being said, breeding Doodles like the Siberpoo is a time and energy consuming practice. Reputable Doodle breeders do extensive health and genetic testing on their parent dogs and provide the top tier care for their puppies before adoption. Of course, you might come across breeders offering Huskypoos at much lower price points. However, we urge you to do your research and due diligence, as oftentimes Doodle scammers and puppy mills attract unknowing customers with extremely low prices. If the Siberian Husky Poodle mix has won your heart, we recommend you keep an eye on our Huskydoodle Breeders Directory , which we regularly update with reputable Huskydoodle breeders all across the US. To be fair, Huskydoodles make great pets! Nonetheless, it all comes down to proper socialization and training from an early age. Do Huskydoodle Dogs Bark? The Siberpoo is usually not a yappy dog. However, sometimes they might inherit the tendency to howl from their Siberian Husky lineage. The Siberian Husky Poodle mix is perfect for active people who enjoy a myriad of outdoor activities. Additionally, Huskypoos also tend to get along well with children. Do Huskydoodles Make Good Pets? Huskydoodle Final Thought So, there you have it — everything you should know about the gorgeous Siberian Husky Poodle mix. Huskydoodles combine the best traits from both of the parent breeds. Temperament: High-strung, smart and active. Husky Poodle Mix Appearance This hybrid has no official standard so their appearance can be a bit of a wildcard. Most Huskypoos will look like a Poodle with Husky colors. Their size will mainly depend on whether their parent is a standard or miniature Poodle. As for eye color they can be black, dark brown, or even striking blue. Size Both male and females will stand between inches. This large range depends on whether the parent is a miniature or standard Poodle. Their weight can range from pounds, however only larger varieties over 18 inches should reach 60lbs. Colors and Coat Their fur comes in black, grey, and many shades of brown. They may have a single solid color or a mix of two or three. The most desirable coat color is the iconic salt and pepper pattern with a contrasting mask around the face — this same pattern can occur with a grey or rusty red coat. This breed may inherit either a single or a double coat. A double coated dog will have a thick, shaggy top layer over a wooly undercoat. A single coat will grow very long without shedding as much, but it can be cut and shaped into a variety of different styles. While this breed is known for being hypoallergenic, an allergy free coat is not a guarantee — their coat type depends entirely on their genetics. Doodle dogs are some of the most popular crossbreeds around — you may have heard of the Goldendoodle and the Labradoodle. Breeding such a tiny dog with a large dog is risky. Husky Poodle Mix Personality and Temperament When you bring this dog home be prepared for your house to be turned upside down. Caring for one is more like having a little furry person than a pet. While they are very friendly and affectionate they are also extremely clingy. Their need for attention can take up most of your day. Brushing them aside is one of the worst things you can do, they will respond with disruptive behavior and chewing. In addition to their neediness they are physically demanding dogs. You should expect to spend a lot of your time playing and keeping them entertained with new games and tricks. Boredom is the Husky Poodles least favorite thing in the world. With two parent breeds that are known for being loud you can expect that your mix will have a lot to talk about. They may also inherit the long, droning Husky howl. Once fully socialized they will be docile and friendly, but they will still save their best behavior for their family. If you want to keep these high strung pups on their best behavior give them an outlet for their high intelligence and energy. A happy Husky Poodle mix is a lovable and affectionate little furry friend. If you shower yours with love and attention throughout the day they will give it all right back to you. However be very careful if introducing one to a family with young children. If your child is mature enough to be patient when the pup gets pushy then the two of them should be able to learn to get along. Caring for a Husky Poodle Mix First time dog owners should steer clear of this very demanding breed. They are best left for experienced owners who have cared for high-maintenance dogs before. New owners may benefit from experience with either parent breed though this mix is often very different from either one of them. From playing and grooming, to finding the best food, this breed will require all of your time and energy. Exercise Requirements The Husky Poodle mix will need plenty of room to run and let their energy out. They have a natural love for the outdoors and will appreciate a big backyard. They make wonderful furry fitness partners. A high energy pup with a passion for play has health benefits for the both of you. Your dog will need about an hour of exercise a day — this can be split between walking and playtime. Remember that Huskies are master escape artists so they should be kept leashed at all times. These masters of agility will love any game of running and rough and tumble play. They may even tap into their snow dog roots once the winter comes around. Be prepared for everyday brushing and shed control if your dog has a double coat. Regardless of their coat type, you will need to invest in a good groomer. Take them in for grooming every months and give them a good bath at home every alternate month. Active dogs will wear their nails down naturally through play, but you should trim them back if they begin to curl. Feeding and Diet As these mixes come in many different shapes and sizes it is difficult to predict their specific dietary requirements. It will also depend on their age and activity level. Typically they need about 2 cups of kibble a day one cup for each meal. A larger or more active dog might need one extra meal a day. Dogs under 15 inches will benefit from special formulas for small breeds. Allergies and food intolerances are very common in this breed. If your dog has allergies or sensitivities to certain foods your vet can help you find the best diet for them. These can be hard to diagnose because the symptoms may express differently with each dog. Most food sensitivities cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is uncommon but not unheard of for food allergies to cause itching and sneezing. Hip dysplasia is common for Huskies and Poodles, so their hybrid is no different. Hip dysplasia is a hip joint deformity that leads to lameness and arthritis. Having pet insurance could save you from the headache of going to the vets with reimbursement for every vet bill from now on! Although a playful pup sounds endearing, consider how many games of fetch or tag you want to play each day, and whether you have kids or other dogs who can stand in as playmates for the dog. Click here for more information on this characteristic Huskydoodle Highlights The Huskydoodle is a mixed breed dog. They are not purebreds like their Siberian Husky or Poodle parents. The main colors of Huskydoodles are black, gray, and white. Sometimes their coats are solid, and sometimes they have a mix of colors. These dogs may not be as allergy-friendly. Huskydoodles can have a pack mentality and typically enjoy the presence of other dogs. Their prey drive can make it a bit of an obstacle to get along with cats. Huskydoodles make excellent family dogs, as they are highly sociable and fairly tolerant of accidental rough play from younger children. Always supervise play time. This mixed breed dog can be stubborn at points, so training is an absolute must with the Huskydoodle. Make sure your Huskydoodle gets at least one good half-hour- to hour-long walk per day with a few good, active play sessions and some shorter walks mixed in. Huskydoodle History The Huskydoodle dog breed may have existed naturally over the years, but designer breeders started intentionally mixing Siberian Huskies and Poodles in the late s, likely in North America. Breeders wanted to combine the working status of the Siberian Husky while finding a way to avoid blowing , or seasonal coat shedding. Breeders continued to create Huskydoodles as demand for the mixed breed pups climbed. Even though the Huskydoodle got their start as a designer breed, some have ended up in shelters or in the care of rescue groups. Consider adoption if you decide this is the mixed breed for you. Check your local shelters, research Huskydoodle rescues, or check with breed specific Siberian Husky or Poodle rescues, as they sometimes take in mixed breed dogs and find homes for them. Huskydoodle Size Since the Huskydoodle is a relatively new mixed breed, there are few standards when it comes to size. However, as a mix between Siberian Husky and Poodle parents, you can expect Huskydoodles to be medium-sized. Their size will also depend on the size of the Poodle parent, who could be a toy or a Standard. Most Huskydoodles weigh in at 40 to 60 pounds and range in height from twelve to 25 inches at the shoulder. That said, many can be smaller or larger. Huskydoodle Personality Many Huskydoodle lovers describe the mixed breed as fiercely intelligent and active. Since they are so intelligent, Huskydoodles get bored quickly, which can lead to unwanted destructive behaviors. Huskydoodles can make great family pets, but they do tend to latch onto one particular person. Still, the Huskydoodle tends to get along with everyone. Since they are so energetic and demand so much attention, they are best suited as the only animal in the house, though they can get along with other pets with proper socialization. Huskydoodle Health The Huskydoodle mixed breed is predisposed to some of the same conditions the Poodle and the Siberian Husky also face. While most are generally healthy, some may be prone to a few health issues , which is why it is important to maintain good care and keep up with regular veterinary appointments. Some of the more common health problems Huskydoodles suffer from include: hip dysplasia. Renal disorders Skin problems. This will screen for potential diseases and gives you a better chance to prepare for it. Husky Crossed With Poodle Food Requirements Owners should take into consideration the size of their dog when it comes to feeding. Large dogs like a Husky crossed with Poodle need either an all-natural diet or high-quality dog food developed specifically for big breeds these are the best large breed dry dog food brands in our opinion. The best dry dog food will always meet those requirements, while the worst dry dog food will have numerous additives among its ingredients. Make sure to feed your delicate cub with the best puppy food brands to ensure they grow into strong adults. If they are picky, the best dry dog food for small dogs will be a suitable alternative. The Husky Poodle mixed breed typically has a thick coat, so including a salmon oil supplement in its diet will assist in keeping its fur sleek, shiny, and soft. You could also go for the Nutra Thrive dog food supplement. Owners should make sure to add glucosamine supplements as their dog grows older to protect their joints, and also transition into the age-appropriate diet by switching to the best senior dry dog food in due time. Carbs are also needed but make sure you keep your dog away from high glycemic foods and grains that can trigger allergies. Because of its high energy levels, the Huskypoo has a tendency to eat a lot. Husky Poodle mix puppies four to weeks old should be fed four meals daily. This can be reduced to two feedings a day when they reach their sixth month until they turn a year old. By this time, one meal a day is enough. However, this dog is susceptible to bloating so owners should consider dividing this meal into two smaller servings per day. Dog owners are fortunate that they have more premiere dog food to choose from now. It also has a high protein count thanks to ingredients like chicken meal, turkey meal, and whitefish meal. Wells has also incorporated natural chicken fat, carrots, spinach, and peas for additional vitamins and minerals. It boasts of having meat as its first three ingredients. It also incorporates enough vitamins, minerals, chondroitin, and glucosamine to keep dogs of any age healthy. This brand only uses one type of meat, making it ideal for dogs with allergies and sensitive stomachs. Poodle Crossed With Husky Exercise Requirement As the offspring of two working dogs, you should not be surprised that your Husky Poodle mix will have enormous energy reserves. After all, the Poodle has been bred to hunt while the Siberian Husky is a powerful sled dog. A Poodle crossed with Husky will require daily exercise. You should take your dog out for a run every day or walk it anywhere from an hour to one hour and a half twice a day. A trip to the dog park, swimming at the beach or even a hike will benefit your hybrid pet. Most of the time this outlet comes out in the form of destructive behavior, like chewing, digging, or barking. The Poodle Husky crossbreed also needs mental stimulation as well. This is one smart dog, and if left with nothing to do, it will find another way to amuse itself, like chewing your shoes or ripping up cushions. You should invest in puzzles and interactive toys to keep your pet engaged and happy. The market for dog toys is surprisingly robust, and these are some of the best ones out right now: Nina Ottosson Dog Tornado Treat Puzzle Toy: Dubbed a tornado because of its spinning tower, this toy will tease your dog and entice it to solve the puzzle so it can snatch the treats. This is an engaging toy that will challenge even the smartest dogs and keep them occupied for hours. Your Husky Poodle will spend hours knocking this toy around as it chews and swats it about. The squeaking rubber ball also catches the attention of canines who like auditory stimulation. GoughNuts chews have been designed to withstand even the heaviest and most determined of chewers. Because of this, most people would assume that training this mix will be easy. And it is, in a way. However, the Huskypoo can also develop the stubborn streak that Siberian Huskies are known for. This attitude can make training challenging, as your dog will test your patience and skill repeatedly in a bid for dominance. It also means that Huskypoo owners should be patient. Someone with experience training or managing large and strong-willed pets is a nice fit for this dog. Some experts say eight weeks old is a good age to commence training. These classes will teach these young dogs how to listen and follow their owner, learn manners, and socialize with other pets. Getting your puppy used to a strict routine as it grows up can prevent behavioral problems from appearing later on. Here are some tips to help training go smoothly: Keep training classes short but interesting. This will help your Husky Poodle mix master commands more easily. Crate training is vital since this breed has a tendency to get into, chew and destroy stuff when left alone for hours. Positive reinforcement works better. Always be ready with your praises and have treats and rewards on hand. This will reinforce training and your dog will quickly learn that the proper behavior will lead to a good experience. Activities that involve obedience and agility can keep them calm and engaged since these require them to use their brains. This dog will flourish with an owner or family who has an active lifestyle. You can bring your Huskypoo with you as you run or jog. Likewise, people who lead very busy lives should not get a Husky Poodle. This dog also needs a lot of space, so a home with a yard or a spacious garden with a fence is ideal. As the name indicates, Huskydoodles are designer dogs created by mixing Siberian Huskies with Poodles. Since Siberian Huskies and Poodles are both extremely intelligent and trainable breeds, so are Huskydoodles. Want to know more about the Huskydoodle — mainly its physical and behavioural characteristics, price, size, coat types etc? Then read on, we have the information you need. What is a Huskydoodle? Huskydoodles are a cross of standard, miniature or toy Poodles with standard or mini—Siberian Huskies. To know more about the Huskypoo, let us consider the traits and origins of the parent dog breeds in brief: Siberian Huskies The Husky breed is believed to be at least years old and was developed by the Chukchi tribe of the Siberian peninsula to draw their sleds. The breed became even more popular when several Huskies were enlisted to deliver the life-saving Diphtheria vaccine in during an epidemic. Huskies are high-energy active dogs that are known to be quite vocal. When trained and socialised , they get along well with kids, other dogs, and even with cats. The breed might have existed since the Roman Empire but the Poodles we see today come from Germany where they were developed to aid hunters to retrieve waterfowl — especially ducks. Poodles are ideal for crossing with other dog breeds thanks to their smartness and hypoallergenic coats. Today, they rank No. Currently, hybrid dogs like Huskypoos are not recognised by the AKC. One of the main questions a Huskypoo owner will ask is: how big will my Husky Poo get? Unfortunately, you cannot have a definite answer. The appearance of a Siberian Poodle mix does not have any reference to go by since the height and weight of these dogs are not standardised. Standard Husky Poodles usually grow between inches 33 cm to 55 cm and weigh around 45 to 60 lb 20 to 27 kg. Some breeders use miniature Poodles, Toy Poodles and mini—Siberian Huskies in their breeding programs to create miniature Siberpoos. These dogs weigh about 20 lb. Therefore, the Mini Huskydoodle and Toy Huskydoodle are the smallest variations on this poodle cross. They would be suited to apartment living, providing they receive sufficient exercise. As with the height and weight, the appearance and the coat colours of the Siberian Husky-Poodle mix are also non-standardised. The same is the case with the coat. Common coat colours seen in the Husky Poodle mix are grey, white, black, brown, golden, tan, and rare colours like apricot, blue merle, chocolate merle, cream, and red-brown. Is Husky Poo hypoallergenic? Whether the Huskypoo is hypoallergenic depends on complex canine genetics. This could render them slightly hypoallergenic. You can have different generations in Doodle dogs. There is the F1 generation in this case, a purebred Husky crossed with a purebred Poodle , F2 generation two F1 hybrid Doodles crossed , and so on. You can also have an F1-B generation which involves crossing an F1 Huskypoodle and a purebred Poodle. Huskydoodles are gentle, sweet-natured dogs. Any aggressive temperament is undesirable and good breeders will not breed such dogs. The characteristic temperament of Huskydoodles is friendly, alert, energetic, and outgoing. Some Huskypoos are possessive and territorial. They are also aloof and wary of strangers. This gives them excellent guard-dog or watchdog abilities. Huskypoos are intelligent, highly trainable, and fast learners. They are easy to train and make excellent companions for families and individuals alike. Note that the Huskydoodle tends to run so you must secure your yard. This instinct to run can endanger your pet and, for its safety, you might want to confine or leash it. Huskypoos are athletic, light-footed, and playful — traits they have inherited from both the parent dog breeds. They are also agile. The best home for a Huskypoo is a home with a large yard where your pet can run and play. In addition, your dog will need at least two minute walks every day. Without this exercise, your Huskydoodle could get bored and destructive. If you love to run and hike, your Huskypoo will gladly accompany you. Like its Husky parent, the Husky Poo is born to run wild and be independent. Without the right dosage of physical and mental activity, Huskypoos can get very depressed too. Most Huskydoodles love the cool weather. They do not like the heat and might need air conditioning in the warmer months. Huskypoos are good with other dogs and will gladly socialise with them. They love being part of a pack and hate being alone. Do not be too surprised if your pet shows signs of separation anxiety when you leave for work. If possible, get another dog to give your Doodle company or hire a pet sitter. To prevent separation anxiety and other common behaviour problems from developing in your Huskydoodle puppy, crate training is highly recommended. Sometimes, Huskypoos could inherit the hunting instincts of the Siberian Husky and may even kill small animals. Therefore, you must socialise your puppy with other animals from a young age. They can be quite the drama queens if they want more pampering from you. Make sure to establish positive routines, provide mental stimulation and prevent the rehearsal of inappropriate behaviours. How Much Does a Huskydoodle Cost? The price of a Husky-Poodle mix is not standardised. Different breeders charge differently based on the efforts they have put in. What to Feed a Huskydoodle? There is no right or wrong food for a Huskydoodle since every dog is different. What suits one dog might not suit another. Thankfully, you have many options before you when it comes to choosing a food for your Huskydoodle. This includes excellent dry, wet, or semi-moist dog foods. If you make any dietary changes, do them slowly and over a period. This is essential to prevent digestive issues. Some Huskypoos have sensitive digestion and are not able to digest grains, wheat, soy, or even certain proteins. In such cases, you might need to feed it a hypoallergenic or special grain-free diet. Like most Doodle dog breeds, the Huskydoodle is a hardy dog. Since the breed is relatively new, there is no documentation of the common health issues seen in it. We can expect the same illnesses in the parent breed to impact these dogs. The best breeders will conduct genetic tests and other health checks on their breeding stock prior to breeding. This can prevent many of these genetic illnesses. The lifespan of Huskypoos is years. Subscribe for poodle mix breed information, exclusive offers and access to our community of reputable breeders. If someone in your family has allergies, a multi-generation Australian Labradoodle from Red Desert Doodles should be your first choice. What Is a Fawn Pug? The fawn Pug is a common color variant of the Pug breed. This dog has a pale coat color that has soft cream or a faint tan shade. Fawn Pugs may also have lighter or darker fur in some areas of their body. Other than its color, the fawn Pug shares most of its traits with the rest of the Pug breed. When we chase back history, there are only a few details about the fawn color. However, it was noted that Pugs are considered an ancient breed, and it was through selective breeding wherein the fawn color was developed. These brachycephalic dog breeds were standardized by the 19th century, and the fawn fur color was generally used as a foundation in shows as it gained popularity during breeding processes globally. Generally, the fawn and black fur color of Pugs are recognized as standard by reputable kennel clubs worldwide. Fawn-colored Pugs are usually seen in dog shows and movies since they are more desired by pet lovers. These Pugs also come in different varieties, such as regular fawn Pugs, apricot fawn Pugs, and silver fawn Pugs. However, they are still the same dog breed. These color varieties are just simply to describe the tinge and fur shade. Are Fawn Pugs Rare? These non-black Pugs are the most common Pugs globally. Despite them carrying recessive genes, fawn Pug puppies are about two-thirds of the Pug population. However, a particular fawn Pug variety, the silver fawn Pug, is pretty rare. They are much lighter than the regular and apricot fawn Pugs. A fawn Pug is a small breed dog with a pale tan coat color or slightly yellowish and very light cream. They also exhibit a brachycephalic head, which means that they have flat faces. Fawn-colored Pugs have wrinkled faces, a short muzzle, big prominent eyes, round heads, and non-erect ears. Their bodies are usually compact with a curly tail at the back, and their legs are short. They have masks that typically cover the muzzle and chin and extend around the eyes. This marking is highly desirable in dog shows, especially darker ones. Moreover, they have a darker brown sheen or black hairs on their backs called trace. It predominantly starts at the back of the neck down to the base of the tail. However, the trace may fade away as the fawn puppy matures. In addition, there may be slight differences between male and female Pugs. However, both genders grow to about 10 to 14 inches tall and weigh between 13 and 20 pounds. Although fawn Pug puppies already came from a tiny breed, their size and weight should not be confused with teacup Pugs that are not pedigree dogs. As mentioned above, these Pugs have varieties that have silver or apricot tones. Some kennels consider them under fawn-colored dogs, while others separate them as apricot Pugs or silver Pugs since fawn is a broad term. Pugs with apricot fawn coats have a medium cream appearance that is darker than that of a regular fawn Pug. Silver fawn Pugs have the lightest shade, and they usually appear as extremely pale silver tinge coats. They may have markings such as masks on their faces, but each purebred Pug will have unique placements of these marks. Most Pugs are also not uniformly solid in color. Some may have lighter or dark coat hues. Other rare Pug colors that are not fawn are brindle Pugs, panda Pugs, and chocolate Pugs. However, we will discuss those in other articles. A Pug puppy gets one color gene from each of its parents. Combining these two color genes will determine the coat color of the litter. A reputable breeder usually does DNA testing to achieve the desired fur color. That means the parent should be both fawn Pugs, or the black Pug being bred to the fawn Pug should carry the recessive genes for fawn Pug litter to be produced. This happens because black is a dominant color, meaning you only need one black gene to produce black Pugs, despite being bred to a fawn Pug. In the case of a fawn-colored Pug puppy, they either lighten or darken, especially in their first year of existence. As puppies, they may appear with a dirt-like appearance due to the black hairs intermingled with their light colored-fur. These hairs are called smuttiness, and they often fade as the pup grows. The same goes with the trace. In contrast, the masks of non-black Pugs tend to darken as puppies mature into adults. They generally follow the guidelines set by the Pug Dog Club. However, Pugs with non-standard Pug colors such as silver fawn, those with brindle coats, and apricot Pugs can still be registered in AKC but cannot compete in show rings. The Canadian Kennel Club recognizes three Pug colors — silver-fawn, fawn, or black. Aside from either fawn or black Pugs, the Kennel Club of the UK accepts four coat colors as a breed standard, including silver and apricot-colored dogs. For generations, the Pug breed has proven to be great companions and family pets. Fawn Pug puppies have docile, charming, playful, and affectionate personalities, making them loved by most dog lovers. An essential thing to consider is that a fawn Pug does not tolerate being left alone for long periods and is highly attached to its owners. So if you want a clingy buddy, a fawn Pug puppy is perfect for you. They are great with children and other pets, including cats. However, they still need to be socialized early to know how to behave appropriately. These fawn puppies are intelligent purebred Pugs that respond well to training and positive reinforcement. However, you may need to stand your ground at times since most Pugs are stubborn. Furthermore, they tend to be energetic, so as Pug owners, you should give them about 30 minutes of exercise to shake off stored energies and avoid destructive behavior. It is important to note that coat colors do not affect the temperament of your Pug. Female Pug: Which Is Better? The lifespan of a fawn Pug is between 11 and 14 years. They are a brachycephalic breed which makes them prone to several health problems. This makes them at risk of developing respiratory problems like laryngeal collapse and hypoplastic trachea. This can cause neurological issues, pain, weakness, and loss of bladder control. However, this can be managed by rest and anti-inflammatory medicines. Heat Stroke: Pug dogs are affected mainly by heat strokes due to their tight coats. They are sensitive to changes in temperature and do not do well in hot climates. Keeping them indoors during summer can help avoid this condition as it can be life-threatening. Many factors will surround the health of your puppies, such as acquiring them from a reputable breeder, diet, exercise, and genetics. Puppy Prices and Expenses Since the fawn color in Pugs is one of the standard colors, fawn Pugs are priced similarly to other Pugs. Adopting a fawn Pug puppy is a great option. This means you get to save money while giving a rescue pup a second chance at life. They will need essential items to transition and settle into a permanent home. Here is a list of initial expenses in owning a fawn Pug puppy: Type of Expense. What Is A Fawn Pug? A fawn Pug is a particular color of the Pug dog. Can a non-standard colored pug still be registered with a kennel club? For example: the AKC recognizes two pug colors as breed standard, fawn and black. These are the colors required for a pug to be a show dog and compete in the ring. They are the breed standard. However, a non-fawn or black pug can still be AKC registered — they will just not be allowed in the show ring. Silver-fawn, apricot, and even rare and controversial colors like brindle, can be registered with the AKC and listed as an alternate color. So, if you see a non-standard colored pug listed as registered with the AKC, it is entirely possible. You can read it here. The pug breed standard is the blueprint for the breed, and the target for which breeders should aim. The Pug Dog Club of America firmly states that: All reputable breeders of pugs are not interested in the development of any color of pug other than fawn or black. The most common pug colors: Fawn Pug Fawn is the most common pug color. Their muzzle or mask, and ears, should be as black as possible. Black Pug Even though fawn is the most common color of pug, the black gene is dominant. Black pugs have a rich, dark coat, and their muzzle or mask, and ears are black too. Silver-fawn and Silver Pugs Silver-fawn is oftentimes labeled as a type of fawn. They have a shiny gray sheen to their coats and are the lightest color a pug can be. Silver-fawn pugs are pretty rare, and many who have them categorize them as fawns, instead of silver-fawns. Apricot Pugs Apricot pugs have warm undertones of orange in their coats. The hues of orange are richer and deeper in color than the common fawn coloring. They include:. Silver fawn pugs Apricot fawn pugs There are some main appearance characteristics associated with the breed and shared by most fawn pugs. These include: Fawn pugs have a distinct appearance. Fawn pug appearance Short legs and a stroud body Wrinkled body and a curled tail Flat-faced with a short muzzle Large, round head and prominent eyes Soft, velvety ears Fawn pug coats Fawn pug coats can display slight variances. Most fawn pugs have a light, tan-colored coat but some have additional markings as well. These fawns are usually referred to as silver, or apricot fawn pugs. It is also quite common for fawn pugs to have a black muzzle. As for their coats, pugs shed… a lot. Try to maintain a monthly bathing routine, to clean between those wrinkles using products suitable for sensitive dogs. Fawn pug weight Pugs are prone to obesity, so keep an eye on their weight and watch their diet. Inform yourself about what you should be feeding your pug and offer your pet a well-balanced diet alongside regular gentle exercise. In reality, there is very little difference between these pooches besides their coloration. There are a few things to keep in mind, however. Popularity Both fawn and black pugs are wonderful pets. They have soft, loveable personalities and get on with people of all ages. To date, fawn pugs have proven the more popular pets. As a result, black pugs are bred less frequently and harder to find. Coloration In terms of appearance, fawn pugs are pale in color. Some fawn pugs have silver or apricot markings and others have a black muzzle. Most frequently, black pugs have a completely black coat all over but some will have white markings on their body as well. Health Both fawn and black pugs are physiologically the same. As a result, they share the same common health issues. Both tend to develop breathing difficulties, eye problems and overheating. Personality Traits and Common Behaviors in Fawn Pugs Like all pugs in general, fawns tend to have a bubbly and affectionate personality. In Latin, that means a lot in a little. And that says it all. Pugs tend to have adorable temperaments. They are fun-loving, charming, and more often than not, hilarious. These playful pooches also like to sleep a lot. So expect a tale of two halves with your little friend either bouncing around or snoozing in a comfy corner in equal measure. Their affectionate and loving nature makes pugs, and fawn pugs, wonderful companions. On the whole, pugs do not dig, chew, or bark excessively so they also make excellent companions for elderly people and safe family pets. The wheezing, snoring, heavy breathing and barking is all part of their eccentric charm. Pugs are genetically predisposed to hip dysplasia, eye problems, and breathing difficulties. Fawn pug eyes All pugs are prone to some serious eye problems. These are issues that will need treatment from a veterinarian or veterinary ophthalmologist. Dry eye is a common condition in pugs, along with dystichia , proptosis , entropion , and corneal ulcers. All of these conditions can degenerate quickly and cause your pet pain. Pug owners must be prepared to look and for these signs and take measures accordingly. Bones and joints Pugs of all colors are prone to serious problems with their bones- legs and elbows in particular. One of the most common orthopedic problems experienced by pugs is hip dysplasia, a deformity to the hip joint. Luckily, it can be treated quite easily and most dogs go on to lead a healthy, happy life. Breathing difficulties Brachycephalic syndrome is a common occurrence in pugs. Flat-faced dogs like pugs, bulldogs, and Shih Tzus are most at risk. You can prepare the following health tests for your pug if you want to have full understanding of their health condition: Hip and elbow dysplasia evaluation Patella luxation evaluation Pug dog encephalitis PDE or Necrotizing Meningoencephalitis NME Testing for pyruvate kinase deficiency and bile acids 2. Nutrition Proper diet and nutrition are important for all dogs. But pugs are a breed for whom balanced-nutrition is of utmost importance. These little pooches have a propensity to gain weight, so maintaining a healthy balanced diet, alongside exercise, is absolutely essential. Alongside their food, pugs must always be offered fresh water to avoid dehydration. For fawn pug puppies, try to divide food portions into several smaller portions per day. The puppy plan Fawn pug puppies have different nutritional needs compared to adult dogs. They require more calories and loads of nutrients to help them develop and grow. Toy breeds like pugs have a high metabolic rate and need more calories per pound than other, larger, dog breeds. Pugs are prone to obesity and have a very healthy appetite. As your puppy grows, their dietary requirements will change. In general, puppies should be given 1 ounce of food per pound of body weight. Fawn pug puppies also benefit from regular meals. Take a look at this nutrition schedule for inspiration. Regular Fawn Pugs: If you see a Pug in creamy, mild brown, or marshmallow type of color, chances are, you have seen a regular fawn Pug. Mostly the Pugs we see on social media, in movies, or in photos are regular fawns. Regular fawn Pugs have a black mask and a black muzzle, adding grace and dignity to their beautiful color. Silver Fawn Pugs: Silver color has been described as the color of moonlight. Silver fawn is a color that is not overly common in Pug dogs. The silver fawn Pugs have a shiny, silky, and smooth coat with a silver tint. Like other non-black Pugs, silver fawn Pugs have black ears and a black mask. Also, they may have markings like a thumbprint or a trace in their coat. Apricot Fawn Pugs: Apricot fawn is another rare color of Pugs. In Pugs, it refers to a specific warm shade that sets it apart from other fawn shades. Instead, they have black masks and black ears. In addition, you can see thumbprints or trace markings on their unique yellowish-orangish coat. Appearance: The Pugs, no matter what color, have a comical face. Their face is the feature that makes them Pug. They have charming flat-rounded faces with many deep wrinkles and dark bulgy eyes. They have blunt muzzles and a spiral tail. Fawn Pugs have muscular, square, and stout bodies. Though they are small, they are stocky and have symmetrical bodies. Therefore, they will roughly weigh between 13 to 18 pounds. Coat type: Fawn Pugs have short and smooth coats and never hard to touch. Pugs are a double-coated breed, but their coat is glossy, and they shed their hair like crazy. Breed standards describe the ideal characteristics of a breed. General Appearance: From whatever angle you watch, a Pug is a square-shaped dog. Then measure from the front of his chest to his rear part. Both the measurements have to be equal. Head and Skull: When you see a fawn Pug from the side, its head should appear round. On the other hand, when you see the fawn Pug from the front, its head should appear square. It is not apple-headed, and there are no indentations of a skull. Muzzle, also, has to be short, square, and not pointed upwards. The eyes of a Pug are relatively large, lustrous, and very expressive. But, at the same time, the ears are small and soft like velvet! Neck and Chest: Only a strong and thick neck can support a large and bulky head as the fawn Pugs have. So, the Pugs have a just-right neck. They need to endorse their large heads. The chest of a Pug also is broad and full. Body: Fawn Pugs are straight, sturdy, and have short legs. They have broad shoulders, a wide chest, and a leveled top line. Fawn Pugs have stiff muscles and solid legs and must look parallel to each other from the back. Colors: The fawn family will only have regular fawn, silver, or apricot shades. Each is clearly defined and subtle. However, AKC only accepts two colors, black and fawn, as the standard colors for Pugs. The muzzle, mask, ears, trace, thumb marks, or diamonds on the forehead of a Pug can be black. Gait: The legs of a Pug should never fling. Also, the path of one leg should not cross the path of the other leg. Personality: Pugs are great personalities in their short bodies. Their marvelously wrinkled faces have extraordinary charm. Though they appear to be comical, they carry themselves with great dignity. They have an even temperament, charming, playful, and a lively disposition. Pugs have no serving history; the sole purpose of breeding fawn Pugs was to develop companion dogs. However, they perform their duties pretty well. All they want is your love. And you know what? Give them love, and they will return your love with more warmth and affection. How cute! Living needs: The Pug dog is a small breed. So, if you live in a small home, condo, or apartment, the fawn Pugs are ideal pets to own. Family Compatibility: Pugs do well when they are around humans. Therefore, they make the best family pets. Fawn Pugs get along with both kids and adults. They enjoy playing, and the playtime can extend for hours. Pugs are kid-friendly, and they enjoy the company of any other pet as well. Suitable for Novice Owners or Not: Are you an inexperienced pet parent? Worry not! Pug dogs are gentle. They are eager to please their owners. But before you start supervising your Pug, make sure you and your Pug boy have developed a strong bond. Once you two bond well, your Pug will be more than happy to become your shadow. Pugs are neither talkative nor heavy barkers. However, they are very protective of their family members. Grooming Needs: Pugs, fawn or black, shed all around the year. Brushing off the loose hair daily is ideal, but if you are too busy for that, do it once a week, at least. You can bathe your Puggie once a month. Want to keep your Pug away from skin irritations? Just make sure you use a Pug-friendly shampoo. Simple as that! The lovable wrinkles and curly tail both need to be cleaned often and especially after the bath. In addition, you may use pet-safe wipes to prevent infections. The bulbous eyes of fawn Pugs need special attention while bathing. The eyes of Pugs bulge outwards. Hence, they can get chemical reactions if contacted with soaps and shampoos. Pugs are also susceptible to dental problems. To prevent periodontal diseases, you can regularly brush their teeth with dog toothpaste. It really helps! Feeding: Fawn Pugs are foodies. They love eating. They will eat everything their taste buds find pleasant. So keep a watch on their caloric consumption. As a Pug owner, you must show some restraints. Where their short stature makes them an adorable breed, it also puts their health at risk. Eating too much can make them obese. Dogs have different nutritional requirements. Many different brands prepare food rich in nutrients. Opt for any high-class dog food, or you can also feed your Pug home-cooked food. How much will your dog eat? However, for better consumption, you can divide the portion into two. Plus, your Pug would rather eat twice per day. What are Some Health Problems to be Aware of? Just like any other dog breed, the adorable fawn Pugs also have their fair share of health problems. But, with so many years of breeding, we have achieved the modern looks in Pugs. Their squished face has human-like expressions and a cute curled-up tail. No doubt, they look cute with these characteristics, but the cuteness brings some severe problems to the lovely breed. Have a look at some of the significant health problems fawn Pugs are prone to: Fawn Pug Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome: The squishy face and a relatively short skull have led Pugs to a health disorder known as Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome. About a hundred years ago, Pugs hardly had a face like they have today. But, unfortunately, their flattened nose and compressed muzzles have deformed their airway. Therefore, Pugs tend to suffer from significant health problems. Breathing Problems: In the desire to make the Pugs cuter, breeders have developed Pugs with short and squeezed noses. And this facial warping has made it hard for Pugs to breathe. The difficulty in breathing restricts their air intake. As a result, they are more likely to overheat. Due to being Brachycephalic, the Pugs are already not able to take the required amount of air. Therefore, any further restriction can cause terrible consequences. In some cases, Pugs even have to undergo surgery to live everyday life. They have been selectively bred for years to have a tail like this. It looks beautiful, but this beauty brings some curse along. Like humans, dogs, too, have a spinal column. The spinal columns of dogs extend to become their tail. When the spinal column turns into a tightly curled tail in Pugs, this can cause some problems. Like in some cases, the spinal column above the tail can also become twisted. This can be a cause of a significant neurological problem. The screwed-up tails in fawn Pugs make them more prone to this condition. As a result, their tail, if not cleaned properly, can be home to many infectious diseases. The infections can be fatal, and if it becomes the worst, your dog may need to get the tail surgically removed. Pugs are prone to some other health issues as well, and, sadly, the list is pretty long. For instance:.

Sebaceous Adenitis Of course, this is just a list to give you a general direction. You can read up more about the several health concerns on the club sites and further resources on the Golden Retriever and the Poodle club. Disclaimer: This is not medical advice and you should ask your vet if you have any questions pertaining to a specific case. Since many dog breeds are the product of poor breeding, it can be debated whether or not your average Goldendoodle really has the best of both worlds. While these two breeds are not a contrast in terms of temperament, they are different in various aspects. Of course, Poodles are no guard dogs but they can definitely be more suspicious of strangers or at the very least, be quite reserved with them. With the family, both dogs should ideally be calm according to their respective breed standards. However, the Retriever side needs to be physically exercised and mentally stimulated. Make no mistake to assume the Poodle is a couch potato, they can be quite active too. Is it better to get a male or female Goldendoodle? As with any dog breed, whether you should get a male or female dog depends on a lot of factors. You also have to make sure your potential new dog gets along with the existing dog which is often a real challenge, especially with rescues. Part of that is owed to fact that females are generally smaller than males. However, there are very calm males out there while females can have lots of behavioral issues, depending on their previous environment and training or lack thereof. Which is better: Goldendoodle or Labradoodle? Both breeds are created with the Poodle as foundation and the Golden Retriever on one side and the Labrador on the other side. The Goldie and the Lab are two of the most popular dogs in the United States and various other countries around the world. Do Goldendoodles Shed? Yes, Goldendoodles shed. Goldendoodles are not hypoallergenic dog breeds. Photo by Lopolo on Shutterstock If you have canine allergies, you can definitely react allergic to this crossbreed and you should not believe any breeder or rescue that tells you otherwise. It may very well be that you react to other dogs while not reacting to the Golden Retriever Poodle mix but that is sheer coincidence. How Much Do Goldendoodles Cost? That does not scare breeders away from charging absurd amounts for their mixes. Yes, breeding can be expensive. Selecting the perfect stud, going to the vet for check-ups, health testing, puppy food, socialisation and club certificates or the lack thereof are all costs associated with breeding. Do not shy away from going the extra mile and paying more for your dog of choice. Do you have a Goldendoodle? Share with us your experiences in the comments below! How do you trim a Goldendoodle's face? For around the eyes, start with blunt-tipped scissors, gently trimming away the hair above them. Cut at an angle, like a downward V. Since the cut line will be blunt, a pair of thinning shears will help it look shaggier. Next, tackle the beard by brushing your dog's fur downward and creating an oval shape with the blunt-tipped scissors. Again, fluff up anything too blunt with the thinning shears. Then, brush the top upwards and trim away anything too long. Finally, brush her ears and trim away scraggly fur, finishing with the thinning shears. How long does a Goldendoodle live? There is also a smaller version of the Goldendoodle, the Miniature Goldendoodle , which was created by breeding a male Miniature Poodle with a female Golden Retriever. Breed Origin The Goldendoodle turned 50 years old in and was first recorded in .The popularity of this breed began to pick up in the s. Characteristics Of The Goldendoodle As with many crossbreeds, it can be difficult to know the exact characteristics and temperament the Goldendoodle is going to have. Therefore, you can get quite an assortment of features in your pup! As a puppy, they are normally born in litters of between three to eight pups. Appearance The Goldendoodle is often described as an oversized teddy bear. Super soft and cuddly, these pups are large dogs and, on average, a standard sized Goldendoodle is between 22 and 26 inches tall and weighs between 45 and lbs. This can vary greatly depending on their parents, of course. The Goldendoodle normally has a curly coat and wears a happy smile! Super cute, these pups have long noses, round faces and brown eyes. Their tails are long and their chest is muscular. Their bodies can be quite tall but they are well proportioned. Coat It is very common for the Goldendoodle to have a curly coat just like their Poodle parent, although not all of these dogs will have them. Sometimes, these dogs can have long and straight fur like their Golden Retriever parent, instead of a curly coat. No matter which coat they have, it is a double coat which means they have a dense under-layer and a thinner over-layer. While the Goldendoodle is hypoallergenic, they were bred to be low-shedding. If you are worried about your allergies, spend some time with the puppy before you buy to see whether you have a reaction. Color Of course, the Golden Retriever only comes in one color, but the Poodle can come in many! This means that the Goldendoodle can also come in a variety of colors. These include black, brown, cream, gold, red, sable, silver and white. There can also be multiple different colors of pups in one litter, which is especially common in first generation Goldendoodles. Temperament The Goldendoodle is a friendly and loving dog that gets on with everyone. An excellent family dog, the Goldendoodle just wants to spend time with you and give you love! These pups do not have any kind of an aggressive streak in their body and will happily curl up next to anyone for a cuddle. Goldendoodles are very patient and loyal, which is what makes them great working dogs, such as guide dogs. Their intelligence means they are easy to train and their friendliness puts you right at ease. They are also known for being playful and active, loving to chase a frisbee in the park, and love to be outside with you. Lifespan The life expectancy of a Goldendoodle is relatively long. These dogs can live to between 10 to 15 years old! Known Health Issues Unfortunately, as with all dogs, the Goldendoodle is prone to some health problems. The two biggest issues they face, hip dysplasia and patellar luxation, are due to the fact they are a large breed. Some dogs show pain and lameness on one or both rear legs, but you may not notice any signs of discomfort in a dog with hip dysplasia. It can be managed via pain medication, or surgery can be used in more serious cases. Patellar luxation is caused when the patella is not properly aligned. This can cause lameness in the leg or an abnormal gait, sort of like a skip or a hop. Again, it can be managed via pain medication, or surgery can be used in more serious cases. The Goldendoodle is also predisposed to eye issues such as progressive retinal atrophy PRA and cataracts. PRA is an eye disorder that eventually causes blindness from the loss of photoreceptors at the back of the eye. Regular vet checkups and keeping an eye on your dog will ensure you can catch any of these issues before they become untreatable. Daily Life Now we have covered what the temperament and characteristics of the Goldendoodle are, it is time to take a look at what living with one of these doggies is really like. This includes their food and diet, their exercise needs and their grooming needs. Food And Diet The Goldendoodle is a large dog breed , which means their appetite is quite large too! These pups need around three cups of dry dog food a day, which is around 1, calories. Of course, you should always double check the back of the food packet to see the exact amount you should be feeding your dog based on their weight. The food you feed your Goldendoodle should be high-quality and nutritious. You should try to split their food into at least two meals a day. This will help to prevent gastric torsion bloat in your pup, which is a common health issue in their Golden Retriever parent. This food is specially formulated for bigger breeds of dogs and gives them all the nutrients they need to live a healthy and happy life. This food includes real chicken as the number one ingredient, ensuring your Goldendoodle gets protein to main healthy and lean muscles. Also included in this formula is glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate, which are both included to promote healthy bones and joints and prevent health issues within the joints that larger breeds are more prone to. Even better, your pup will maintain a healthy digestive system and immunity with the blend of fiber and prebiotics in this recipe. Exercise Goldendoodles are a large breed of dog that have fairly high exercise needs. A dog of this size and activity level should be exercising for around 60 minutes a day, which equates to around 12 miles of exercise a week. These pups love to play games too, so mental stimulation and obedience training is advised. This will help keep them entertained and loving life. They also like to swim and, despite reports that it is not, this is a safe activity for this dog. The Goldendoodle can adapt to many different spaces and environments, as long as they have enough space to exercise properly. Family Compatibility We have mentioned above that the Goldendoodle is the perfect family dog. This is because they love people and are extremely friendly to everyone they meet. Their intelligence and happy-go-lucky nature makes training a breeze, making the Goldendoodle a great first pet. The Goldendoodle likes to be outside and loves to play, so will therefore be best suited to an active family. They will especially love it if they can accompany you on hikes, walks, runs and even swims. These dogs get on with everyone they meet, including humans and other animals. Of course, they should be socialized from a young age, but this is the same with any dog. These pups make an excellent pet for homes with children because they love to play! Goldendoodles do not have any kind of aggression in their personality whatsoever, so you do not need to worry about their temperament. These dogs are not known to bark either, which makes them terrible watchdogs and guard dogs! Training Goldendoodles are the perfect dog for first time pet owners because of their intelligence and trainability. This is also one of the reasons that they are picked as service dogs. These pups love to please their owners and are very easy going, which makes training a breeze. You should never use physical punishment or correction with a Goldendoodle and always use positive reinforcement techniques. This includes verbal praise and treats as rewards. Socializing We have explained that Goldendoodles are extremely friendly dogs that get on with everyone. For this reason, socializing your Goldendoodle will not be difficult. Socialization should especially take place around other animals and children, although your Goldendoodle should not have a problem with either. Grooming The amount of grooming that your Goldendoodle will need depends largely on the coat type they inherit from their parent breeds. Both coats will require regular brushing, but if they inherit the Poodle coat, which is more likely, they will need brushing almost everyday to prevent matting. Your Goldendoodle will need their coat trimming every eight to twelve weeks. Nail clipping is also needed, as is weekly teeth brushing to prevent dental decay and disease. This will help you catch signs of ear infections early on. It is important to start grooming your Goldendoodle from a young age so they get used to it and understand that there is nothing to be scared of. These dogs are known as designer dogs , which is why they can be quite expensive. If this is a little out of your price range, you can check your local shelter to see whether there are any Goldendoodles who need a home. Are Goldendoodles aggressive? Goldendoodles are not at all aggressive. These dogs are extremely popular because of their friendly and loving nature and ability to get on with everyone. They love both adults and children, and make excellent playmates for families with young kids. Summary Goldendoodles are loving and friendly dogs who make excellent family pets. With a kind and happy-go-lucky nature, it is no wonder these pups are such a popular breed of dog. An active dog, the Goldendoodle loves to be outside and will thrive when able to go walking, hiking or swimming with you. Their gentle nature makes them an excellent dog to have around children, yet playful enough to enjoy games or chasing a ball. What do you think — is a Goldendoodle right for you? Search Dog Breeds. He loves the beaches and finding sticks. He loves the rain. He is a very good runner and plays well with all his toys. He is very gentle and not aggressive at all. We love our Deekdawg!! Hybrid breeds are actually not new in the canine world, although having an official name for them is quite new. In fact, every single purebred dog breed we know today began as some form of mixed dog breed. Pedigree dogs like the Golden Retriever have a past full of Spaniels and other breeds. Some people believe that hybrid dog breeds dilute the purebred dog lines. However, many purebred dogs can suffer from health issues caused by a less-diverse genetic pool. Mixed breed dogs have hybrid vigor , where diversifying the gene pool decreases the chance of these nasty diseases being passed along. The Goldendoodle appeared in the United States in the s. Produced from mixing a Golden Retriever with a standard Poodle , people hoped that they would pass on the kind and clever qualities of both breeds, and be less problematic for allergy sufferers. Because they have been around for a few generations now, you can be more confident in what you are getting from a Goldendoodle than other mixed breeds. Especially if you have an F1b Goldendoodle that has one Goldendoodle parent and one Poodle parent. They have loose wavy fur, a fairly broad long face and floppy ears with silky fur. Your average adult weighs around 65lbs, and stands about 22 inches at the shoulder as a rough guide. Grooming and Coat Care Curly dogs shed less because the fur they lose gets tangled in their existing coat. Make sure you get them used to being brushed from the week you bring your puppy home. Use a soft comb to begin with, and make sure to provide lots of tasty treats every time you run it through their hair. Are They Hypoallergenic? One of the key reasons why this dog has become so popular is because of its reputation for being hypoallergenic. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a totally hypoallergenic dog breed. This is because all dogs produce the protein fel D 1. It is not simply a case of being around pet hair. Allergies can be less of a problem for some pet allergy sufferers because these dogs have a tendency to shed less thanks to their Poodle parentage. However, not all Goldendoodles will take after their Poodle parent. Goldendoodle Temperament Many different factors can influence the temperament of a puppy. Such factors include birth order, gender, parent dog temperament, early training and socialization, the weaning process and more. Goldendoodles are a reliably bright, sociable, friendly and affectionate pet dog. But although this breed has a reputation for sweet personalities and temperaments, the best way to know for sure is to meet and spend time with each parent dog. This mix is frequently recommended as a service and therapy dog. However, even the most naturally friendly of puppies will benefit from good socialization. This breed truly has a golden personality, so much so that these dogs will make poor watchdogs at best. They are just too friendly and sociable, although they are still likely to alert you with an enthusiastic woof or ten! Goldendoodles can make a great family pet for the right family. If you have young children in the home, they can be a great addition because they are social and full of energy. They are also relatively safe to have around young kids. A study of dog bites in children showed that Retriever cross-breeds are five times less likely to bite than breeds such as German Shepherds or Dobermans. Consider how much time you and your family will have to dedicate to your dog. For example, Goldendoodles need plenty of exercise and grooming. On the other hand, they are a low-shed breed. Training and Exercise Goldendoodles are smart just like their parents and can get into mischief without early training, socialization, sufficient daily enrichment and activity. Also, because they are so friendly and energetic, socialization with people and other dogs is vital to help your pup understand how to behave when out and about. However, I frequently find them more likely to dance around their families feet than run off into the bushes. We recommend limiting exercise to short walks and play time during puppyhood. Poodles originated as water retrieving dogs, so they make great swimmers. Thus, coupled with the fact that Golden Retrievers are typically very easy to train, you should have no problems getting your Goldendoodle used to the water for some exercise. Take a look at some of our training guides to get up to speed on training. Health and Care Both the Golden Retriever and the Poodle have certain known health issues that occur more frequently within each dog breed. Any good breeder will take care to test all parent dogs to rule out passing on any known genetic health issues to puppies. Goldendoodles are prone to hip dysplasia and PRA blindness. They also have a high risk of developing bloat, which causes the stomach to twist. This is a serious problem and can be fatal. Because Golden Retrievers have a higher-than-average incidence of cancer , look for a litter with an older Golden Retriever parent to cut down your odds. The average lifespan for a Golden Retriever is .The average lifespan for a Poodle is 12 years. Other important factors can influence lifespan. These include diet, enrichment activities, exercise, vet care and lifestyle. Breeders and Puppies Good breeders health test potential parents and socialize their puppies. They spend money on vet checks, quality food and toys for the whole litter. When you visit your puppy, their parents will have a strong and obvious bond with the breeder. And a purpose beyond producing babies, such as an agility dog or a valued family pet. How much your puppy will cost is a question that can have different answers based on the generation of the puppies too. By generation we mean f1 versus f1b: F1 Goldendoodle puppies have one Poodle parent dog and one Golden Retriever parent dog. F1b Goldendoodle puppies have at least one Goldendoodle parent dog. It is easier to control important issues such as coat shedding, personality, temperament, health concerns and adult size when breeding f1b Goldendoodle puppies. Most breeders will choose to specialize in either f1 or f1b Goldendoodles, although some breeders will breed both dogs. Future litters of f1b Goldendoodles two Goldendoodle parent dogs will be f2b, f3b, f4b and so forth. One of these puppies can change quite a bit in the course of a year or two. Plus, it is important to remember that they are lively, active, and energetic dogs in general. This does not always work out well once the owner discovers how much time and energy their new puppy requires. This can result in a Goldendoodle puppy being returned to the breeder or surrendered to a shelter or rescue center while it waits for a new home. Under the right circumstances, that new home could be yours. Families, couples, first-time dog owners Temperament: Intelligent, loyal, affectionate, playful, energetic, social They are such social, loyal, and dependable dogs, they have been popular as family companions and have been widely used in search and rescue, therapy, and as guide dogs for the blind too. In this guide, we go in-depth on the personality and care requirements of these adorable dogs, so you can decide whether the Goldendoodle is the right fit for you. Dogs that are harder to train will require a bit more patience and practice. Proper exercise, nutrition, and hygiene also play an important role in the lifespan of your pet. More social dogs have a tendency to run up to strangers for pets and scratches, while less social dogs shy away and are more cautious, even potentially aggressive. Goldendoodle Puppies Image Credit: DiZiga, Shutterstock The Goldendoodle can be high energy at times, especially in the first couple years of their life. They have inherited this calm, friendly, and docile nature from their Golden Retriever heritage, and they are rarely aggressive or territorial. They are not known for barking much, even if there is a stranger at the door, making them ideal pets if you prefer peace and quiet. They are devoted family pets that love to be included in every activity and thus will suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for long periods. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They are social, friendly, and loyal as they come and are the picture-perfect family dog. Of course, early socialization is still essential because they can become rather attached to their owners, which may be problematic occasionally. They also do not have much of a prey drive, so even other small pets in your home are usually safe with a Goldendoodle. The food that you give your Goldendoodle should be of the best quality that you can afford, free from filler ingredients like soy and corn, with an animal-based protein as the first listed ingredient or at least among the top three. We recommend giving your pup lean meats occasionally as a healthy treat and for variety, and as with all dogs, they need to be provided with clean, fresh water at all times. They will love their daily walk followed by a play session in the backyard, and like both Poodles and Golden Retrievers, Goldendoodles love to swim, a fun activity that can also give them beneficial exercise. They are playful dogs that will adore games of frisbee or fetch in the backyard, and this will also provide them with mental stimulation, an important aspect for such intelligent animals. Puzzle toys are other valuable accessories for these dogs, and these will go a long way in helping prevent boredom. Of course, Goldendoodles are social animals, so they will enjoy walks with other dogs or social play sessions in the dog park too. They are not massive dogs but still are not suited for apartment living because they need a large backyard to play in. In fact, these dogs are often used as therapy or service dogs due to their ease of training and friendly nature. This makes them ideal for novice dog owners because they are generally ready and willing for their daily training sessions! We highly recommended positive reinforcement training methods, as these sensitive dogs will not respond well to harsh training methods. This will ensure a happier dog overall and forge a close bond of trust between you and your Goldendoodle. An often overlooked aspect of training is early socialization. Making sure your puppy is exposed to other dogs regularly early will help training exponentially in the future. Also, keep training and socialization sessions short and consistent, as this routine will also help during training. No matter the coat type, these dogs are fairly low-shedding, so keeping them well-groomed is simple. Both Golden Retrievers and Poodles are known to suffer from hip and elbow dysplasia occasionally, as well as eye problems, such as progressive retinal atrophy. Minor Conditions. They may have small white patches over their body like on their chest or paws however these as technically Black and White Goldendoodles. Goldendoodles can only be this color if they inherit it from the Poodle as purebred Golden Retrievers are never black. Red Goldendoodle Red Goldendoodles come in a variety of shades from light red to dark red. Their coats can be anywhere from a reddish cream to a rusty brown color. Goldendoodles with lighter red coats are usually called Apricot Goldendoodles. Apricot Goldendoodle Apricot Goldendoodles have very light red coats with a peachy tone. They are somewhere between a light red and a cream. Only the Poodle carries the genes for an apricot coat so Apricot Goldendoodles are usually created by breeding an Apricot or Red Poodle with a light Golden Retriever. They are one of the most sought after Goldendoodle coat colors. Merle Goldendoodle A Merle Goldendoodle carries the merle gene which dilutes certain sections of their coat into mottled patches. This gene also affects eye color and skin pigmentation on the nose and paws so Merle Goldendoodles often have very light eye colors such as blue and often have pink patches on their nose and paws. Most of the time the secondary color is apricot, red or cream. Chocolate Goldendoodle Chocolate Goldendoodles have a solid brown coat that can range from a very light shade to a dark brown. They inherit this coat color from the Poodle side. Brown coats were originally a result of a mutation of the gene that produces a black coat. It is a recessive gene so both parents need to carry it to get a Chocolate Goldendoodle. That is why Chocolate Goldendoodles are more commonly found in back-cross generations such as an F1b, F1bb or F2b Goldendoodle. Some English Cream Goldendoodles have black noses while others have light brown or beige noses. English Cream Goldendoodles are often mistake for Labradoodles because they are so light in color. Black and White Goldendoodle Black and White Goldendoodles feature a mainly white coat with black patches. The black patches are usually located on their chest, legs, muzzle, paws or above their eyes. Black and White Goldendoodles are a type of Parti Goldendoodle. Silver Goldendoodle Silver Goldendoodles have a salt and pepper colored coat. They are usually born a darker color and start to fade to silver around 10 weeks of age. At this age, the roots of their hair will start to lighten to grey. In fact, Silver Goldendoodles go through the most dramatic coat color change out of all the Goldendoodle colors. Goldendoodle via huntleydoodle Golden Retriever Poodle Mix Temperament The temperament of a Golden Retriever Poodle Mix can vary depending on many factors such as the percentage mix of Poodle to Golden Retriever, their level of socialization, their environment as well as what training they have undergone. Overall, Golden Retriever Poodle Mixes are highly excitable dogs by nature. They love spending time around people and other animals alike and are so affectionate and gentle. Goldendoodles are keen to please which makes them pretty easy to train. They are also relatively easy to care for. The only real complaint of owners is the constant grooming requirements of Goldendoodles. Are Goldendoodles Smart? Goldendoodle are very intelligent as both the Poodle and Golden Retriever are known to be very smart. Poodles are ranked 2nd for working and obedience training out of breeds while Golden Retrievers are ranked 4th. Goldendoodles are eager to please and quick learners as they are so smart which makes them relatively easy to train. Are Goldendoodles Hyper? While Goldendoodles are an energetic and playful breed, most people would not describe them as hyper. Nevertheless, like any other dog breed, Goldendoodles can have varying temperaments and energy levels so some may be more laid-back and calm while others may be more active. Goldendoodles can be hyper if they are not given enough exercise each day. They may exhibit behaviors such as chewing, pacing or being vocal if their daily exercise needs are not met. That is why it is so important to give them lots of exercise each day. Do Goldendoodles Like To Cuddle? Most Goldendoodles love to cuddle. They are known for their friendly and affectionate nature and are also very people-oriented so cuddling comes naturally to them. They thrive on human companionship and as much as they love running around and being active, they equally love snuggling with their loved ones. Do Goldendoodles Have Separation Anxiety? Goldendoodle can be prone to separation anxiety as they are people-oriented dogs and love spending time with their families. They may become anxious or distressed if they are separated from their owners for long periods of time. Luckily, you can manage separation anxiety by gradually getting them used to being alone for longer periods of time. You can do this by starting with short periods of being alone and slowly increasing the time or you can create a comfortable and safe space for them to be left when you leave the house. This may be a den-like environment like a crate with blankets and their favorite toys. Do Goldendoodles Bark A Lot? How much a Goldendoodle barks highly depends on the individual dog. Overall, Goldendoodles do not bark as much as other smaller dogs. Look for boredom-busting dogs toys such as ones you can hide treats inside. Other options include using ultra-sonic sound devices. There are many factors that affect the lifespan of a Goldendoodle including size, gender, generation and whether they are desexed or intact. These variables mean they can have shorter or longer lifespans than the average. You can give your Goldendoodle the best chance of living a long life by exercising them daily, feeding them a healthy diet and keeping on top of vet appointments.
