From there we began showing dairy goats, angora goats, and pygmy goats in 4-H, FFA, and open shows from .When my son went off to college, we decided to sell off our dairy goat herd and focus on our Pug Breeding Program. Once we were able to focus on our Pug Breeding Program more we began to search for pugs of unique colors that we didn't already own. In I quit my job, and started breeding pugs full time. My new job title is a "Stay at Home Pug Mommy". Instead we retire them and they live out the remainder of their lives here at Tipping Point Farm, playing, eating, sleeping day after day, and spending time with our family. After all, Pugs are the ultimate companion and mans best friend. They will always be there for you no matter what, whether they are trying to cheer you up, steel your food, or give you kisses. With such a large demand for our pugs, I have now brought in my mom's dogs to be a part of my breeding program, so everyone is able to have their own Tipping Point Farm Pug. My Mom owns a farm thirty minutes away from me where she lives and raises her own pugs with help from me. On February 11th, , my first pug, "Cheese", the one who started it all passed away suddenly. The whole family was devastated after learning of her passing and spending so many years with such a great dog. I was heart broken, I lost my best friend. This one dog was the reason behind my whole pug breeding program. I loved this dog so much that I wanted to breed pugs so everyone could have "their own Cheese". After all, Pug love is like no other, you are their world and they become a family member. Even though Cheese is no longer here with us, I know that I am lucky enough to have got to spend so many years with her and have her daughters, grand daughters, and great grand daughters. When it comes to our pugs, Health is our 1 priority and then of course color! From day one, we are directly involved with our puppies, we help them come into the world and love them everyday till they go to there new family. Please feel free to call or email me anytime you have a question or are interested in a pug. Thank you for taking the time to read the Story behind our farm. We are looking forward to hearing from you and your family and to adding a new member to your family. I apologize for this and will be back to keeping up with my website for .As soon as we learned of the diagnosis, we made arrangements to meet with the surgeon. Unfortunately after the scans were taken, a spot was found on his liver which gave him a terminal diagnosis 2 months without chemo, 6 months with chemo. In March of he opted to start a chemo regiment every 3 weeks to hopefully extend his life expectancy. During the next few months him and I created a bucket list of things he wanted to do, which we were able to complete in between his visits to the hospital and chemo treatments. In August his cancer was reassessed to see if the chemo treatments had been working. The results were heartbreaking, the chemo hadn't worked and his body was full of cancer. Within a month of this heart breaking news my fathers health deteriorated, he was back and forth between hospice and the emergency room until he lost his battle to cancer on September 22, .My fathers loss has been extremely difficult, but I am now able to start focusing on my breeding program once again. As of right now we have big plans for .For more information about our plans, please contact me with any inquiries regarding current and future puppies or keep checking back for updates. We appreciate your patience and look forward to adding the newest fur-member to your family. Life Span Did You Know? The Pug, or Pug Dog, is famous for its flat-faced appearance and large, soulful eyes. They are an ancient dog breed that originated in China over 2, years ago. They were originally developed as a refined pet of Chinese royalty along with the Pekingese and the Shih Tzu. During this time, the Pug was considered a national treasure that outsiders could only access if one was gifted to them. Dutch traders from the s can be credited with bringing the Pug onto the world stage when they brought some back to Europe with them. The Pug made its way to the United States in the s. Now, the Pug is a popular dog breed worldwide. They are a popular companion that provides their owners with plenty of love and laughter from their comedic and playful antics. The Pug is a playful and outgoing dog breed with a charming personality. They tend to be very loving towards children and also get along well with other pets and dogs. They are a companion breed at heart known for their gentle nature and sociable personality. They love to give love and receive it in return. Their sensitive nature makes them intuitive as well and Pugs will often sense the moods of their owners and react accordingly. They crave attention and affection from their owners and are big fans of napping. This dog breed is often described as an ideal house dog and they are moderately adaptable. They will do well in homes of any size, including apartments. The Pug also adapts well to city or country life and are a good fit for singles or families of any size. Although they are highly adaptable to various living situations, they are less adaptable to climates. Pugs are very sensitive to the heat and overexertion, so they are best-suited to moderate climates. They also love to be with their families and will not be happy if left alone for a long time. As with any dog breed, the Pug has some health conditions to be aware of. In particular, corneal ulcers and dry eye are some potential eye problems that can occur. Additionally, Pugs can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and encephalitis. Asking the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and to see health clearances can help allay concerns for some of these health issues. Pugs are also big foodies. They love to eat! Their love for food means this dog breed is prone to obesity. As a brachycephalic dog, their large head and short snout often cause respiratory problems, which can limit their exercise at times and contribute to weight gain. This will cause them to quickly gasp and snort, which can sound relatively alarming. These episodes are usually not harmful as your Pug is just clearing their palate and throat. The Pug tends to be easy to train and is a good fit for owners of any experience level. They are eager to please their owners and tend to pick up on commands quickly. They are sensitive souls and their feelings can be hurt easily, so they will not respond well to harsh corrections. This dog breed responds best to consistent training that focuses on positive rewards and will benefit from participation in puppy training classes. Pugs have a smooth, glossy, and short coat. Their fur is fine and soft. Although their coat is generally low-maintenance, it will shed throughout the year. Aside from brushing, Pugs only need occasional baths on an as-needed basis. Because Pugs have ears that drop down, they can be susceptible to moisture, dirt, or debris. Checking their ears regularly and cleaning as needed helps to keep them healthy and comfortable. The same goes for their iconic face wrinkles. Daily brushing is ideal, but if your Pug is not allowing you to do that, a few times a week should be sufficient. Getting your Pug used to these grooming tasks as a puppy will help make it a positive bonding experience and a much easier process throughout their life. This dog breed has a low to moderate energy level. Generally, daily walks and some play sessions are enough exercise for this dog breed. They may have short bursts of energy as they have a very playful nature, but they will tire easily. Some Pugs can handle a little more activity and even compete in some dogs sports like agility, rally, and obedience. Make sure you check with your vet first before jumping into dog sports with your dog. A full-grown Pug will usually stand 10 to 11 inches tall at the shoulders and weigh between 14 and 18 pounds. This dog breed generally lives for years. The Pug was a popular pet of the Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. Featured Pug Article.
Photo from thepuppyacademy The Doodle craze has resulted in many interesting crosses, from Cavoodles, Maltipoos , and Sheepadoodles to Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles. There are over forty Poodle mixes out there and they all seem to have fun names. Although these names are fun to pronounce, they can also be a bit confusing. The main difference between these three dogs is their genetic make-up. The Goldendoodle is a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever while the Australian Labradoodle is a mix of a Poodle, a Labrador, and a few other dog breeds. When you cross these two pups, you get an Australian Goldendoodle. They all come in different sizes and coat colors. However, Australian Labradoodles tend to conform to a standard set by the Australian Labradoodle Association while the other two crosses are more unpredictable. Australian Goldendoodles and Labradoodles are more likely to inherit the low-shedding coat characteristics since they are multigenerational Doodles. The price range of all three breeds is similar, but Australian Goldendoodles can cost more on average. The F1 Doodles are the first generation pups that came into existence by crossing two different breeds. The F2 or the second generation dogs came from breeding two F1 Doodles, and the F3 mixes are multigenerational. This ensures that the hybrid vigor of the first-generation Goldendoodles and Australian Labradoodles is carried onto their offspring. Backcrossing Australian Goldendoodles is a bit more complicated than with other Poodle mixes since they have the genes of more than two dog breeds. Those crossed with a Golden Retriever or a Labrador Retriever are considered to be different hybrid dogs. Physical Characteristics Of Australian Goldendoodles Australian Goldendoodles come in different sizes, depending on the Poodle genes of their parent breeds. Their height ranges from 17 to 24 inches while their weight can be between 15 and 80 pounds. The reason for this wide range of sizes is the fact that there are Toy, Miniature, and Standard Poodles. Their coats can be curly and wool-textured like Poodles. Pups with this coat type are more allergy-friendly since they shed less. They can also have wavy or straight fleece-textured coats. The hair length depends on their genetic make-up. Goldendoodles tend to have slightly longer hair compared to Australian Labradoodles. Australian Goldendoodles come in a variety of colors, from white, cream, and gold, to apricot, red, or black. Some are of solid color while others have different markings, such as parti, abstract, or phantom. Facial hair is in style, and Australian Goldendoodles are following the trend. Their adorable mustache, known as furnishings, gives them a distinct teddy bear look. The furnishings, alongside their shaggy-looking coats and floppy ears, make these pooches irresistible. They are small- to medium-sized dogs, weighing between 20 and 30 pounds, with a height of 16 to 19 inches. Poodles come in three different sizes; Toy, Miniature, and Standard. The small stature of Mini Doodles comes from the genes of their Miniature Poodle ancestors. The main difference between Mini and other Australian Goldenpoos is their size. They are the same as their larger cousins when it comes to other physical and personality traits. However, they need less exercise since the Miniature Poodle was primarily bred for companionship rather than for hunting like the Standard type. About 30 minutes of exercising a day should be enough to tire out these tiny pups. Do Australian Goldendoodles Shed? Australian Goldendoodles tend to be low-shedders. With the increase of pet allergies in recent times, the demand for pups with low-shedding tendencies is on the rise. Australian Goldenpoos with straight or wavy fleece-textured hair typically shed more than their curly-coated counterparts. However, the shedding can still be managed by proper grooming. Apart from genetics, other factors impact the amount of shedding in dogs as well. If your pup is shedding excessively, it may be due to stress, nutrition, health, or too much bathing. Grooming Requirements The Australian Goldendoodle is a high-maintenance crossbreed. The curly coats that make them shed minimally can easily get tangled or matted, which is why they require regular grooming. The grooming includes brushing and trimming their hair, bathing, teeth brushing, cleaning their ears , and trimming their nails. Their continuously growing hair also needs to be trimmed regularly. Most owners take their pups to a professional groomer every six to eight weeks. Be sure to use a gentle dog shampoo since some bathing products can cause excessive shedding. You can inspect their ears weekly and use a soft cotton ball to gently clean them. Their teeth also need to be brushed once a week to prevent tartar build-up and gum disease. Their nails should be clipped once a month unless they naturally wear down. The Australian Goldendoodle is an affectionate, loving dog that loves to spend time with its owner. They are great family pets as they get along with other animals and children. Australian Goldendoodles can easily be trained for a variety of tasks due to their high intelligence. In fact, their Labradoodle parents were first created to be guide dogs for people with pet allergies. Many of these sweet-natured pups also work as therapy dogs, bringing happiness and comfort to people in hospitals and retirement homes. Australian Goldenpoos are very energetic and playful as well. Exercise Needs Australian Goldendoodles are active dogs. Making sure that your dog gets enough exercise and mental stimulation can prevent weight problems and behavioral issues. It also reduces the possibility of injuries as it strengthens their muscles. Puppies learn about the world through play, but it also helps build your relationship. As your puppy grows up , you can start taking it out for long walks or let it join you for a run. Australian Goldenpoos love being outside, so going for a hike once in a while is a great way to spend some quality time with your pooch. They also do great with different dog sports, such as dog agility or flyball. These sports would be fun hobbies to share with your pup. Positive reinforcement is always the best training method regardless of the breed. Your puppies will happily learn any new trick when you give them enough treats, praise, or tummy rubs. House training means letting the dog know what your house rules are. Puppies love to chew, so surrounding them with toys could help save your shoes. Another essential part of dog ownership is socialization. Although Australian Goldendoodles are friendly by nature, they still need to be socialized. What you need to do is bring your pup around with you to meet different people, dogs, and other animals. Smaller dogs generally have a longer life expectancy. They typically live between 12 and 16 years. These mixed-breed pooches are generally healthy dogs, but there are some health problems they can inherit from their parents. They have been described as playful, loving, gentle, intelligent, and eager to please. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Your breeder or adoption organization should be able to advise you on whether they think an individual dog would be a good match for a home with kids. According to Australian Goldendoodle breeders, these dogs are great around other pets. It can be difficult for resident cats and dogs to accept a new family member at first, so go slowly to make the transition as stress-free as possible for everyone. Again, speak to your breeder or adoption organization about whether specific matches would be a good idea. There are a multitude of complete and balanced options for dogs, some suitable for all sizes and some formulated specifically for small, medium, large, and giant breeds. There are also options that target certain areas of health, like, for example, weight management, joint function, and urinary health. Fun physical activities for the easy-to-please Australian Goldendoodle include a few daily walks, fetch, chase, agility training, and games like frisbee, tug-of-war, and fetch. Some may also enjoy swimming, but not every dog does. Australian Goldendoodles are, by and large, considered to be highly trainable and eager to please, so they should respond well to short training sessions daily with a consistent leader who provides positive reinforcement praise, treats, etc. Patience, consistency, and kindness are especially important for adult rescue dogs. A post shared by Simin pet. On the other hand, if the Poodle genes are stronger, a curly or wavy coat is more likely. If your Australian Goldendoodle has a coat similar to a Golden Retriever, the rate of shedding may be higher than that of a wavy or curly-coated Australian Goldendoodle. It really depends on the genetics. Poodle-type coats are especially prone to these problems, especially around the neck and tail base, so be sure to focus on these areas. Regular nail trimming is another essential part of grooming, as too-long nails can quickly become sore. If you do this yourself at home, avoid the quick, which is the pinkish part of the nail. Cutting into this will be very painful, so keep the clippers only on the ends. According to PetMD, the following conditions are ones to watch out for in Goldendoodles. Note that the PetMD post is about Goldendoodles, not Australian Goldendoodles specifically, but Australian Goldendoodles might be susceptible to some of the same conditions since they share Goldendoodle parentage. Minor Conditions Mild allergy symptoms that receive treatment Minor, occasional stomach upset. Photo from kuechly. However, we can still look at the disposition of the parents that were used to create them since they will most probably influence how the Australian Goldendoodle behaves. Puppies with a more dominant Australian Labradoodle genetic makeup manifest the following: They are very loyal to their owners. They are happy-go-lucky dogs. They are curious and active when it comes to a number of activities. They get along well with small children and other animals when they are socialized early. They are sometimes tricky and clever. They show so much affection to their family, which means that they can even be therapy dogs. If your Australian Goldendoodle has a dominant English Goldendoodle gene, they will most probably exhibit the following traits: They are perfect for novice pet owners since they are very adaptable. They are easygoing and they are easy to train. They love pleasing their owner as well as other people. They do not like being alone for a long time because they become destructive. They are affectionate to practically everyone. Again, all these traits are seen on Australian Goldendoodles only when they are given proper training or socialization. Ensure that right after bringing them home, you start a suitable training program for them to thrive inside your household. But who knows, maybe your puppy can outlive even the oldest dog alive! Make sure that they are properly taken care of by providing their basic and most essential needs. Also, bring them to a trusted veterinarian if you notice something different about them. This may be a sign of certain diseases and should be prevented immediately so they can live a longer life. Here are the common health issues of Australian Goldendoodles that you should watch out for: Hip Dysplasia: This developmental disease is found in most dogs, not only in Australian Goldendoodles. Cataracts: You can identify that your dog has cataracts when their eyes become opaque, leading to blocked vision and eventually complete blindness. Patellar Luxation: There are instances where the patella of a dog dislocates and causes difficulty in extending the knee joint. This can lead to lameness if not treated early. Some of the signs of this disease are vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, increased urination, and shaking episodes. The area under the aortic valve narrows, affecting the blood flow and leads to breathing difficulty, fainting, or in extreme cases, death. Photo from miss. To take care of them, consider my tips and advice below. But remember that the nutritional need of each dog varies depending on its size. You should have them weighed by a veterinarian and ask for advice regarding what they are allowed to eat. Generally, Australian Goldendoodles can be fed commercial dog food and homemade food. Since they are hybrids, you should choose nutritious food and feed them three to four times a day. Again, this will still depend on what the vet will advise. In terms of homemade diet plans, there are many recipes you can watch and copy on youtube that will provide the energy requirements of your dog. Training and Exercise It might surprise you that Australian Goldendoodles are intelligent hybrids. They can easily pick up simple tricks because they are extreme people pleasers. In terms of their exercise needs, they love highly stimulating environments since they are energetic and active. Besides, they can also play some water games thanks to their Poodle gene. They can live in both rural and urban areas as long as there is enough space for them to run and play. Cleaning and Grooming Many pet owners these days are able to clean and groom their own pets. They rarely bring their Australian Goldendoodles to a professional groomer because they have studied and succeeded in doing everything that needs to be done in just a home setup. I highly applaud these types of owners, but I still would suggest bringing your dog to the vet a couple of times a year since there are some little details about pet grooming that you may have missed. Generally, Australian Goldendoodles need brushing several times a week using a slicker brush to prevent mats and tangles. They would also need to be trimmed every eight weeks for them to look more presentable. The fur around their eyes, ears, and footpads should be the priority because these areas help them to function well. Aside from these, their ears should be monitored for possible infections especially if they love to swim. Teeth cleaning is also necessary to avoid any dental-related diseases. How Much Is an Australian Goldendoodle? Aside from these initial expenses, there are some items that you need to buy in order to take care of your Australian Goldendoodle. They are presented in the table below along with their individual cost. Type of Expense. Our sister site Dogsnet has also has expert-led courses for new puppy parents right through to adult dogs. Exercise Australian Goldendoodles are active dogs who need at least two hours of exercise every single day when they are fully grown. This could include hiking, joining you for a run, swimming and water retrieves, or dog sports such as agility training or dock diving. Mini Australian Goldendoodles need to spend the same amount of time being physically active. But they may struggle to keep up with pursuits like running or cycling. A large, secure yard is helpful for giving this breed room to play and let off steam. Australian Goldendoodle Health and Care The health problems most likely to affect Australian Goldendoodles are: Ear infections Allergies, eczema, and autoimmune skin conditions Joint problems including hip and elbow dysplasia The neurological condition degenerative myelopathy Thyroid disease To protect each new generation of puppies, breeding dogs should be as healthy as possible. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals recommends testing potential breeding Australian Labradoodles for: Hip dysplasia Eye diseases including Progressive Retinal Atrophy Exercise Induced Collapse Goldendoodles ought to be tested for: Hip dysplasia Eye diseases Heart disease Good breeders will be able to provide copies of the results of all these tests. Shedding coats need regular brushing to remove dirt, debris and dead hair. Twice a year it will shed more heavily than usual and change texture to adjust to the seasons. At these times, you might like to use a deshedding tool to speed the process up. Non shedding coats also need frequent brushing, plus regular trips to the groomer for clipping. Australian Goldendoodles are prone to ear infections because their ears trap warmth and moisture. This creates ideal breeding conditions for bacteria and fungi. So keeping their ears clean and dry should also form a regular part of your routine. Are Australian Goldendoodles Good Pets? Australian Goldendoodles can be great pets for the right people. They do best in active households, with people who enjoy spending plenty of time outdoors. Their behavior is also likely to be more settled if someone or a mix of people can keep them company most of the time. Due to their size and playfulness, standard Australian Goldendoodles are difficult to keep in an apartment. But a Mini Australian Goldendoodle might adapt, provided you take them out for plenty of regular exercise. Most of the dogs which contribute to the Australian Goldendoodle are described as being good with children and other pets. However, they need lots of attention in their own right, so raising one from a puppy at the same time as a young family can be extremely challenging! Australian Goldendoodle puppies are well suited to households with older children and teenagers. Especially ones who are willing to help with playtime and providing all the mental and physical stimulation this mix needs. Younger children should always be supervised with any kind of dog. A standard sized Australian Goldendoodles are particularly likely to accidentally knock over a small child or elderly person in a moment of over-enthusiasm. Mac, a lovely Australian Goldendoodle from Montreal image: thisdoodmac. Ultimately, the Australian Goldendoodle is a designer dog. Designer dogs are a result of breeders choosing purebred parents with desirable traits. The Australian Goldendoodle is technically a Doodle dog breed since it is a Poodle mix. However, Aussiedoodles are a mix between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. They are not to be confused with a standard Labradoodle. There are quite a few differences worth pointing out. Although Poodles have been mixed with other breeds for decades, if not centuries, the Labradoodle is credited as the first official Doodle breed. In , Wally Conron, a dog breeder who worked for the Victoria Royal Guide Dog Association of Australia, created the first Labradoodle to provide a hypoallergenic service dog. This cross-breed came from a letter he received from a man in Hawaii who needed a guide dog but was sensitive to dog allergens. The success of this Labradoodle guide dog caught the interest of many. Standard Labradoodles have grown in popularity ever since. The Australian Labradoodle is a direct descendant of the standard Labradoodle. The intent behind this selective breeding was to create more consistent litters in regards to coat type, traits, size, and temperament [1] alaa-labradoodles. Due to the advocacy of breed clubs like the Australian Labradoodle Association of America, Australian Labradoodles now have entirely predictable traits, with the breed standard established in .The Australian Labradoodle is still considered a mixed-breed dog, but breeders hope that they can one day be distinguished as its own breed. The most significant difference between the Australian Labradoodle and the standard Labradoodle is that the Australian Goldendoodle is a mix of several different dog breeds. How popular are Australian Labradoodles? Australian Labradoodles are currently much more popular than Australian Goldendoodles. The mix has yet to receive much attention, but the data shows it is trending upward. The graph below shows the relative search volume of Australian Labradoodles and Australian Goldendoodles worldwide. It is clear that Australian Labradoodles are more popular than Australian Goldendoodles. However, this trend can change in no time! These two hybrid breeds are a result of four different parent breeds. Poodle Poodle Poodles are a breed of water dog that originated in Germany. They were bred to be water-fowl hunters and retrievers. They are intelligent dogs that have high energy levels and are athletic. This is why they eventually became famous as circus dogs in 19th-century France. There are three varieties of Poodle, which differ by size: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. The standard Poodle is the largest, while the Toy Poodle is the smallest. This is the main reason Doodle breeders mix them with other purebred dogs. Poodles do not shed as often as other breeds, and the curly nature of their coat traps dander. However, they require quite a bit of grooming to prevent the matting of their fur. They come in various colors: black, white, gray, fawn, brown, blue, red parti, and a few others. Their temperament was the main reason breeders chose them for Australian Labradoodle breeding. Cocker Spaniels are social and people orientated. In addition, they are not as energetic as the other dog breeds. This makes them calmer and more suitable for families. Cocker Spaniels come in a variety of colors, including mixtures of colors as well. English Cocker Spaniel vs. However, when the breed was brought over to America, it was bred differently to be able to hunt American woodcock. Thus, the breeds differ, given their different physical characteristics and instincts. American Cocker Spaniels are smaller in size. They have a shorter muzzle and back with a dome-shaped head. The English Spaniel is taller and has a narrower head and chest. In their native countries, they are simply called Cocker Spaniels. Similarities between the two include the signature long ears and thick wavy fur. Labrador Retriever Labrador Retriever The Labrador Retriever is a famous British gun dog breed, one of the most popular choices for families in the western world. In addition to being playful, loyal, and obedient, Labrador Retrievers are the dog of choice for service or guide dogs. Their coats are short and water-proof but tend to shed a lot. Their addition as parent breeds for the Australian Labradoodle is because they were the original service dogs that breeders wanted to adapt for people with allergies. This breed results from a cross between an English Golden Retriever and Poodle. They have a few slight differences from a standard Goldendoodle , most of which are based on coloring and body shape. The size of an English Goldendoodle depends on the Poodle parent and can vary widely. Due to its size, the Mini English Goldendoodle sees more demand across households. The English Goldendoodle usually retains the social characteristics of a Golden Retriever and the intelligence and coat of a Poodle. Due to their light color, they are sometimes called English Cream Golden Retrievers. English Golden Retrievers have a very light cream-colored coat that almost seems white. American Golden Retrievers are never that light in color. Furthermore, English Golden Retrievers tend to be slightly larger than their American counterparts. Both these dogs are brilliant and highly energetic. They require lots of activity and attention. They make great family dogs and are easy to train. Where did the English Golden Retriever come from? Since the English Golden Retriever is not a separate breed, it shares the same history as the standard Golden Retriever. Lord Tweedmouth is credited as the founder of the Golden Retriever breed. At the time, hunting was becoming a very popular sport in both Scotland and England. Golden Retriever This particular mix was bred with the intent to aid hunters in the retrieval of waterfowl and upland hunting. Upland hunting refers to the hunting of upland game, which are non-waterfowl birds such as pheasants, quail, grouse, etc. Their sweet-temperament intelligence makes them a great choice to be used as a service dog, guide dog, or therapy dog. This is because it depends on the sizes of all the breeds that make up an Australian Goldendoodle. A strikingly handsome Australian Goldendood image: thisdoodmac. Goldendoodles generally come in three different sizes — Standard, Miniature, and Toy. You should be able to get specific weight and size from your breeder. If you want to know how big your puppy will get, ask for specifics on the size of the parents. Weight The following table estimates the weight of an adult Australian Goldendoodle based on type. Australian Goldendoodle Size.
The most common Labradoodle colors are black, cream and gold. Black Labradoodles are common finding generally one per litter. These Labradoodles represent the base price for a dog within this breed. The color of a cream Labradoodle can vary between different shades with some having red tinges through their coat. Although the color cream may vary the whole coat should be one consistent color. Apricot Labradoodles are often born with lighter colored coats that darken over time while others that are born apricot in color develop to have a light cream coat. The entire strand of fur on a golden Labradoodle should be the same color. Golden Labradoodles often fade as they grow. These dogs are neither common or rare. These Labradoodles should hold their color until adulthood. The chocolate colored Labradoodles tend to be a popular choice. Their coloring should be even. Chocolate Labradoodles often appear almost black at birth. A parchment should not have other colors mixed into the fur. Large blotches of any color on white make for an acceptable Parti colored Labradoodle. The hardest to breed and come by is the red Labradoodle. Any combination of two colors is acceptable as long as they have the distinctive markings. A black and gold phantom is among the most common. These dogs are on the rarer spectrum. These Dogs are on the rarer spectrum. While gold is a common color, the birth of a Labradoodle with a deep red coloring is as rare as they come. A red Poodle is unusual making a red Labradoodle even harder to come by. The roots of a red Labradoodle should match the tips. Red Labradoodles are hard to breed and even harder to come by. Red Labradoodle Puppy and Adult The range of Labradoodle coat colors is extensive although no matter which puppy you pick, Labradoodles make loving life long friends. Related posts:. But there is some logic here! Cream Labradoodle Genetics With so much variety in the cream coat color spectrum, you may be surprised to learn a single color pigment is driving all of them. This pigment is called phaeomelanin. It controls the red spectrum of coat colors. It is yellow or gold. Phaeomelanin is running the show in determining whether a Labradoodle will grow up to have a cream coat. But there are lots of other genes working behind the scenes to influence how creamy that coat will look. Phaeomelanin is a form of pigment, or melanin. Melanocytes have the job of adding phaeomelanin to each hair as it grows out. Sometimes they may add in a bit more color pigment at first and slack off later. This is why some but not all cream Labradoodle dogs will grow up to have adult coats that are darker at the hair tips than they are at the hair roots. This Causes the Variations This is one way — but not the only way — that a cream Labradoodle can grow up to have a darker cream or a lighter cream coat. These are the hair follicle cells responsible for giving this Labradoodle their lovely coat color. But what is telling each melanocyte how much of which pigment to add to each developing coat hair? A collection of genes is called a genotype. How those genes appear or show up is called their phenotype. So a cream Labradoodle has the genes for a cream coat phenotype. When it comes to coat color, eumelanin black is dominant and phaeomelanin red is recessive. When a gene is dominant, a puppy only needs to get that gene from one parent dog to have it show up express. But when a gene is recessive, the puppy needs to get that gene from both parent dogs to express it. Now you are probably starting to see why breeders can spend a lifetime studying the genome just for their own breeding dogs. This is especially the case when you consider that a Labradoodle is a breed that is still rather early in their evolution. F1, F2 and Beyond! In early stage F1, F1b breeding programs, the breeder may be working with the coat color genotypes of two completely different purebred dog breeds. This gets more complicated still when you consider that both parent dogs must contribute the cream coat genotype in order for a puppy to inherit the cream coat. In other words, only two true cream Labradoodle parent dogs will be able to breed cream Labradoodle puppies. Eumelanin is responsible for black and the various shades in that color spectrum. Nose color: Depending on the breed association you consult with, a true cream Labradoodle will have either a black, brown, or rose pinkish nose. Eye color: Cream Labradoodles will usually have dark brown eyes. Skin color: Cream spectrum Labradoodles will have black eye rims and lips. Nail color: Generally, this color Labradoodle will have black nails. Labradoodles are large dogs that will generally fall somewhere between the sizes of their two parents. While color genes are the primary driver when a Labradoodle puppy inherits a cream coat, there can be other factors at work as well. Diet, exposure to ultraviolet light, type of shampoo, overall health. This is why cream Labradoodles can be quite rare. Not only do they need a very specific set of genes, but they also may change color as they grow older. If coat color is really important to you, rescuing an older cream doodle might be a better route. Cream Labradoodle Temperament Just like their coat color, Labradoodles will inherit temperament traits from their parent breeds. In general, you can expect your creamy doodle to be friendly, intelligent, energetic, and eager to please. These mix breeds need plenty of energy too, no matter what their color. Cream Labradoodle Health Labradoodles are a very new breed, so predicting health concerns that could affect them is still quite tricky. Also, learn more about the health issues that can affect the two parent breeds — Labs and Poodles. Mixed dogs can inherit health problems from their parents, so can be at risk of the same problems. Only ever choose reputable breeders that health test their dogs. This will minimise the risk of your puppy growing up with heritable health problems. Finding a Cream Labradoodle Puppy Cream puppies can be quite hard to find, as this color is recessive. So, puppies need to inherit the right genes from both parents. And, as we learnt earlier, breeders can label the same shade in different ways. To some, a puppy might be off-white, but to others, it could be light caramel. This can make your search harder. But, no matter how you go about it, make sure to only choose reputable breeders that look after their animals and health test. Never choose puppies from puppy mills or pet stores. If color means this much to you, you might want to consider choosing a rescue Labradoodle, whose color will be more stable. Hundreds of abandoned and abused dogs are surrendered so there might be a chance for you to find a French Bulldog Pug here. French Bulldog Pugs Health Problems It is typical for hybrids like the Pug and French bulldog Combination to inherit the health condition that has afflicted the parent breed. Being born hale and hearty is not always a guarantee that they will not develop the same problem. Screening tests are now available to help breeders determine which dog to breed. Ultimately, you need to be conscious and be able to recognize the signs for these illnesses. Glaucoma is caused by high pressure that builds up in the eye. This may impair the optic nerve and can result in total blindness. It usually starts with just one eye and can progress into the other. French Bulldog Pug and Families The cross between Pug and French Bulldog are gaining much popularity as household pets because of their lovable and affectionate nature. This is very appealing, especially among the younger generation. Before you take home the newest member of your family, there are certain things that you need to consider. Establish the rules and assign responsibilities like who is going to feed, bathe, and walk him. Designate one activity room in your household where family members can mingle with your new pet while pointing out which rooms is off-limits. Being the champion chewers as they are the combination of French Bulldog and Pug have a penchant for biting into things so you need to organize your belongings ahead of time. You may consider building up a temporary living space that is gated off. Frug Description The Frenchie Pug is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the French Bulldog and the Pug. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. Their mother is a brindle French Bulldog and their father is a fawn Pug. He enjoys play dates with his best friend Ginger who is a Corgi. They play for hours chasing playing tug of war and wrestling. Banx is a cuddler, and loves being by my side. What a gift, a true blessing. He was the best birthday present for me. He also thinks he is a guard dog, but warms up very quickly to the guests; he will even sneak a kiss in if he can. He loves to go rollerblading and running like a wild man with other dogs in the park, but his favorite things to do are eat and sleep. When he passes out, he snores very loudly, and there's no waking him up. She is very devoted, and hasn't got a drop of aggression in her. Very balanced dog. Very clever too. Should a French Bulldog Mix take after their Frenchie parent, they will be a small companion breed that bonds closely with their families. They tend to have an energetic, playful personality and love nothing more than being with their favorite humans. French Bulldogs tend to be friendly, playful, and affectionate dogs that get along with just about everyone. They tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets. They will even warm up quickly to strangers as long as they have been properly socialized. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you should be able to expect the same from a French Bulldog Mix. You can also meet the mother in person to see what her temperament is like and the behavior she is modeling for the puppies. The breeder should have started some training and socialization, but it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home. Frenchies are highly adaptable dogs. They do well in apartments as well as larger homes. However, as a brachycephalic breed, they are extra sensitive to heat and also sensitive to the cold. They also do not like being left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you can expect a Frenchie Mix to also be a highly adaptable dog. The other parent will introduce their own traits and some potential quirks, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. They could inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds, or they could inherit some or all of them. They can also be prone to allergies, have sensitive skin, and also a sensitive stomach. Good breeding practices will make a huge difference. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. Although French Bulldogs can sometimes be stubborn, they are eager to please and tend to be easy to train. As long as training is consistent and focused on positive praise and reward, they can be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. If the other parent breed is also easy to train, then you can expect a French Bulldog Mix to be highly trainable as well. Regardless of owner experience, there are many benefits of puppy training classes. A mixed-breed dog can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a mix of both. You will also need to clean their facial wrinkles. Weekly ear checks with cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. As a small dog breed, a Frenchie Mix is more prone to developing dental diseases later in life. This makes good, consistent dental care for dogs even more important for them. Daily brushing with a dog-friendly toothpaste or using an enzyme toothpaste paired with cleanings at the vet when needed is ideal. Frenchies are known couch potato dogs that are happy to lay back, relax, and cuddle with you. Daily walks plus some playtime are usually enough for this affectionate little dog. Even though they like to relax, they also like to play and will be energetic when they do. They can also be athletic and compete in dog sports. As a brachycephalic breed, you do need to be careful of overexertion and overheating. But, there are plenty of ways to safely exercise flat-faced dogs to make sure your French Bulldog Mix gets enough exercise. If the other parent breed is also a low-energy breed, then you can expect something similar from a Frenchie Mix. If the other parent breed requires more activity, then you will need to be prepared for the potential of a higher energy dog. Fully-grown Frenchies usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother, so make sure you ask the breeder about them. This can give you some idea of what size to expect in a fully-grown French Bulldog Mix. French Bulldogs generally live for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, you should be able to expect a similar average life span in a French Bulldog Mix. Featured French Bulldog Mix Article.

Why do you think the police force and military are using the German Shepherd so much? Sure, a Doberman can do the job just fine and there are definitely dog breeds that have stronger olfactory senses or stronger bites but they may not be willing to obey every command in every situation. They are too intelligent to outright obey everything which can sometimes be perceived as stubborn. Does that mean the German Shepherd is not smart? Absolutely not. In fact, the German Shepherd is often cited as one of the smartest dog breeds, right after their cousin the Belgian Shepherd, also known as Malinois. Their will to please outranks. How trainable is the German Shepherd Husky mix? Well, the Husky is known to be quite independent by design. So even though pairing these two very smart dog breeds makes sense at first glance, a Shepherd Husky mix might not be as easy to train as imagined. That being said, pairing a German Shepherd with a more agreeable Husky can certainly help. Genetics and temperament of the parents always play a pretty big role. This is not always the case and even a purebred may struggle with protection without proper direction and training. Always consult a professional to avoid teaching your dog negative behavior patterns barking at strangers on walks, lunging at dogs, and so on. Huskies are incredibly enduring. How could they not, they were bred to run hundreds of miles in very cold climates. But their original working purpose was quite specific and they may need to have an outlet for this desire to run. Training your dog early on will prevent behavioral issues in the future and gets your dog used to brain training. Since both breeds are relatively high energy, you need to walk your Shepsky at least twice a day for a minimum of minutes each. The German Shepherd is known to be a formidable family dog while the Husky can be quite reserved. Huskies are used to living and working in a pack and can be very sociable animals while Shepherds develop a deep bond with their owners. Although pairing these two breeds can produce great family dogs, there are other large dog breeds that are even suitable for apartment living out there that are very patient with children and also perfect for guarding property. Expect to have a very smart dog that will challenge you throughout the day. He will probably grow into a medium to large-sized dog with a weight of about 40 to 80 pounds. Both dogs are working breeds so you can expect a Shepsky to have high exercise needs. A task or daily job would keep them the happiest. Grooming Both dog breeds can have relatively similar coat types. Huskies have a thick double coat, meaning an undercoat plus guard hair. While the undercoat is soft and dense, the guard hairs are straight and somewhat smooth. Depending on the specific pairing, the coat can be a toin coss. Be ready for shedding seasons with both of these dogs. You can expect your male German Shepherd Husky mix to be in cm with a weight of lbs kg. Female German Shepherd Husky mixes range from in cm , weighing in at lbs kg. Apartment Living Can you live in an apartment with a high-energy dog like the German Shepherd Husky mix? It depends. If you provide your dog with an outlet for his exercise needs which means lots of walks, play, and training then there should be absolutely no problem. However, their tendency for high-pitched barks or howling may cause problems with your neighbors. Proper training will help and entails teaching your dog the quiet command. Would I advise you to buy a mixed breed from a breeder? Definitely not. There are far too many mixed breeds sitting in shelters and waiting to be chosen. As long as there are no health issues present in their ancestry, you could argue that mixed breeds might be healthier than purebreds from backyard breeders. Beware of backyard breeders mixing in a third breed without stating so. Make sure to check out my breeder questions before you fall victim to scammers or backyard breeders. Make sure to talk to a veterinarian or nutritionist first. Do you have a German Shepherd Husky mix? Share with us your experiences in the comments below! The resulting dog is a genetic gamble in terms of health and temperament and offers no advantage to a health-tested dog or rescuing. Disclaimer: This blog post does not substitute veterinary attention and does not intend to do so. I am not a veterinarian or pet nutritionist. If your dog shows any sign of illness, call your vet. Post navigation. Each litter typically produces adorably fluffy puppies, each of which may look different. Some will inherit heterochromia — or different colored eyes — from their Husky parent, while others will receive the longer snout of their German Shepherd parent. History: Emergence of the Gerberian Shepsky To understand this active and loving mixed breed, we must first understand purebred Huskys and German Shepherds. As we mentioned, the German Shepherd is known as a herding dog. They were developed in for herding and guarding sheep in Germany. The Husky is a working dog, first bred over years ago in Siberia. They arrived in Alaska in where they ran hard as sledding dogs and stole the hearts of locals with their goofy personalities. No formal records document the first hybrid litter of Gerberian Huskys. In general, the German Shepherd Husky Mix has an ideal temperament. They get their friendly, silly, and gentle qualities from the Husky side, while they receive loyalty and bravery from their Shepherd side. While Huskies never meet a stranger, shepherds are standoffish. The combination leads to a perfect balance. Once grown, your Gerberian Shepky will protect you, and guard your family from anything- all while providing love, cuddles and plenty of adorable moments to last a lifetime! They are great around children, and when socialized from a young age, can live well with other animals. The German Shepherd Husky mixed breed is incredibly intelligent will learn quickly when trained appropriately. Huskies can be stubborn and become bored easily, while the German Shepherd loves to learn new things and have a job to do. If your puppy is more Husky, he may prefer hours of running, rather than mental stimulation. For example, hold out a toy or treat and let your pup catch a whiff. Then, hide the object and let your pup sniff it out. Get creative with your training and bond with your puppy to find what works for you! Be sure to keep your Gerberian Shepsky well exercised and mentally stimulated to avoid developing unwanted negative behaviors like barking, howling a husky favorite , and chewing. Calorie requirements differ based on age, weight, activity level, and sex. For example, a quickly growing puppy requires more calories than an adult Shepsky and should eat food specifically formulated for puppies. In contrast, active adult German Shepherd Husky mixes require about calories, while less active and senior dogs only require calories per day. A high quality food, formulated for large breeds is best. Remember to account for special treats in daily caloric needs! Get the whole family together for a walk or run. Continuously switch up the route so your Shepsky never gets bored. Other recommendations include providing at least 2 hours a day of moderate to vigorous physical activity. German Shepherd Husky mixes do best in an environment where they can play, run, and roam. Your new pet will be most content when able to participate in interactive activities like obstacle courses and challenging puzzles. With lots of love and attention, your Gerberian Shepsky will settle into a nice routine of work and play. Be sure to snuggle up for plenty of cuddles at the end of a long day! Shepsky Health Considerations Like their purebred parents, German Shepherd Husky mixes may suffer from certain health issues due to their genes. When you purchase a puppy, your breeder should be happy to provide a detailed health screening of the parents. Joint Dysplasia causes the elbows and hips to develop abnormally, leading to pain and eventual loss of movement if left untreated. If caught early, the condition can be treated successfully with medication or corrective surgery. Cataracts, inherited from the Husky parent, are issues with the lens of the eye that will lead to decreased vision over time. If left untreated, your Gerberian Shepsky may become disoriented, confused, and even aggressive as he loses his ability to process his surroundings. Again, if caught early, this disease can be treated with medication or surgery. This condition causes the stomach to swell and twist around it self. The risk is passed on to your Shepsky and great care must be taken to avoid it! Simply remain attentive to how much and how often your pup is eating and you should be safe. And, much like a wolf, the Shepsky mix possesses a strong snout and piercing eyes. They may even have two different colored eyes! Puppies with heterochromia are highly coveted and will cost more. But they are worth it — so gorgeous and unique! Just like the eyes, Gerberian Shepsky coats may be a variety of colors based on which parent they most closely resemble. Common colors include white, gray, silver, tan, red, and the classic German Shepherd coat color — Sable! Because the Husky originated as a sled dog, their coats are adapted for the cold climates of Siberia and Alaska. However, they are double coated and may shed one coat to accommodate warm temperatures. Your Shepsky will also have a double coat that requires twice weekly brushing sessions to promote proper shedding and skin health. Additionally, frequent full bathes are harmful to your German Sherpherd Husky mixes natural oils. This can lead to irritation and dry, itchy skin. Instead, only bath them when necessary with a gentle shampoo. Simply spot clean in between with a damp cloth, and use a non-toxic deodorizing spray if necessary! We've included some summary facts and stats below to help you make your decision. Do you think this gorgeous, regal looking dog is right for your family? Yet, cuddly, friendly, and adorable! So what do you think? The German Shepherd Husky mix is a relatively new designer dog breed. Very little is known about where and when it originated. Many dog experts claim that the first of this kind was bred intentionally sometime in the late s. Originally, a German Shepherd and a Siberian Husky parents were mated to produce a first-rate working dog, since both the parents are excellent working dogs. Soon, because of their sheer strength and quick intellect, they were used to assist with search-and-rescue operations and took military and police roles. It would help to get a glimpse of the origin of the parent breeds to have a better understanding of German Shepherd Husky mix. The German Shepherd , which originated in in Germany, were used to herd sheep and pull heavy loads under tough conditions. They were imported and used as sled dogs during the Alaskan Gold Rush. The breed eventually became popular throughout Canada and the United States as great pets. The Siberian Husky is believed to have originated over two millennia ago from the Siberian Arctic. Nomadic Indian tribes used these dogs to help with pulling sleds and heavy loads. The Siberian Huskies made their way to North America in the s. Despite having relatively short history, German Shepherd Husky mixes have already become fashionable and increasingly common. German Shepherd Husky Mix Puppies! For the most part, when two different thoroughbred canines mate, the puppies will most often inherit traits from their parents. This will vary from litter to litter, of course. But rest assured that German Shepherd Husky mix puppies look a lot like their parents in terms of how they look as well as their personality or temperament. This striking creature has a medium to long head and a strong, somewhat pointy muzzle. A German Shepherd Husky has pointy triangular ears and a set of alert almond-shaped eyes. The puppies of these parent breeds are well-built, energetic, and athletic. German Shepherd Husky mixes are super fluffy and their beautiful coat contributes to their attractive appearance. Like German Shepherds and Siberian Huskies, this designer dog has a double coat. It has a tough top coat and an insulating layer of undercoat that is made up of short hair. The undercoat protects and keeps the dogs warm in cold regions. Some of their undercoat will shed during the months of summer, keeping them nice and cool during the hotter weather. All in all, the coat of German Shepherd Husky mixes is not only beautiful, but functional as well. Husky German Shepherd Size. What is the size of a typical Husky German Shepherd Mix? Expect the size to be from the smallest Siberian Husky to the biggest German Shepherd. A Siberian Husky is a medium-sized dog that usually grow up to around 20 to 23 inches in height. On the other hand, a German Shepherd is categorized as a large breed and can grow up to around 22 to 26 inches tall. So expect your Husky German Shepherd Mix to be between 20 and 26 inches tall. When talking about weight, Siberian Huskies weigh between 35 and 60 pounds, while German Shepherds are much heavier at around 49 to 88 pounds. So perhaps the weight of a Husky German Shepherd Mix will be from 35 to 88 pounds. This can also be due the gender of the dog. The most common color combinations are brown-black and white-black. The color of you German Shepherd and Husky Mix is simply a product of genetics. These dogs are: Good guard dogs. They inherited this characteristic from their parents. But they can be excessive barkers. Compared to some other breeds, they learn things quickly because of their higher cognitive abilities. They will always put you first before themselves. They are well-loved because they are affectionate. Be prepared to pet them all day long. These dogs mix well with other pets and with people. They are trusting. These dogs may be naughty at times, but they are very dignified. Active and powerful. They are energetic and need regular training and exercise. They need at least one walk every day. They are the ultimate dogs! They are known for their energy. They get bored and sometimes mischievous when they lack physical and mental stimulation. As mentioned before, this hybrid is also intelligent, loyal, playful, and very trainable. A Husky German Shepherd Mix is an alpha dog and may get somewhat aggressive or do naughty things if its owner is not firm. On the other hand, your dog may inherit the calm and gentle behavior of the Siberian Husky. A Husky German Shepherd Mix with this demeanor can be clingy with their owner. This hybrid loves to take part in various activities with you. Some owners let their friends engage in fieldwork, herding, and the likes, but these dogs will also have fun playing outdoors, jogging, walking, and hiking. While the Husky German Shepherd mix is friendly, warming up to other dogs and strangers may take time. And since the coat is super fluffy, it mats and tangles easily. So, regular grooming of your dog is necessary to prevent matting. Brush your German Shepherd Husky mix several times a week. On top of this, take your dog to a qualified groomer every two months. Remember, start grooming your pups from an early age so they get used to the process. Bathe your dog when needed. Ear check Wax may build up in the ears of German Shepherd Husky mixes fairly often. You should clean their ears carefully using a dog-friendly cleaning solution and cotton balls or cotton buds. This will keep the ear canal clean and reduce ear odors. Remove these parasites in their entirety to reduce discomfort and risk of infection. Dental hygiene The dental hygiene of your German Shepherd Husky mix is also an important part of their grooming process. Also, this dog needs high-quality dry food to keep its gums healthy and strong. Nail grooming In addition to the abovementioned grooming requirements, also make sure that the nails of your German Shepherd Husky mix are trimmed or groomed regularly. This activities is often stressful for the dog. This is because new genes are introduced to the existing pool, strengthening and widening it. However, even a hybrid dog like a German Shepherd mixed with Husky can inherit health conditions from one or both of their parents. This hybrid lives between 10 to 13 years, and during this lifespan, they can develop different health issues. These include: Elbow and hip dysplasia. Problem in the formation of the joints, which usually results into painful arthritis. Juvenile cataracts. The opacity of the lens of the eyes of the dog, which often causes blindness. Corneal dystrophy The accumulation of abnormal materials in the cornea, causing visual impairment. Progressive retinal atrophy PRA. This happens in the twilight years, with symptoms including night blindness, dilated pupils, inability to see in bright light. Bloating of the stomach, which results in the stomach twisting around itself. Failure to produce enough enzymes necessary for digesting meals. Excessive bleeding caused by a defective platelet functioning. Cancer is prevalent in this hybrid. Anal furunculosis. This is an inflammatory bone disease. German Shepherd Huskies are particularly at risk of airborne, contact, and food allergies. A neurological disorder causing uncontrolled seizures and loss of consciousness. This is perhaps the most frightening thing that can happen to this dog. Impaired thyroid function, dwarfism, footpad disorders, nasal cavity tumors, and eczema German Shepherd Mix With Husky Food Recommendations In terms of its dietary needs, the strong and athletic Husky German Shepherd Mix requires a high-protein diet. Provide a diet that is rich in essential vitamins and minerals. Be careful with foods that contain common allergens such as lamb and egg Give your dog supplements depending on the age of the mix. German Shepherd Mixes are picky eaters, so look for a brand that matches the needs of your dog and try to stick with it. These dogs have a high risk for digestive diseases. So, you must ask your vet for recommendations. The first step is to provide them with balanced nutrition by making sure you opt for best dry dog food, which you can also find in Wellness Core Dog Food , Dog For Dog Food , or Nutra Thrive dog food supplement. Prior to making any change in their diet plan, consult with your vet. If your buddy is older, try to get any formula from the best senior dry dog food list that will help extend their lifespan. Puppy pups have a bit different diet requirements and you can find the top-quality food for your little companions in the best puppy food brands list. Their parents are working dogs, so they have unparalleled energy and can engage in physical activities without getting tired. What they need is a regular exercise to maintain and improve their strength and endurance. Your dog needs some off-leash time. Dog parks and fenced yards are great places for this. A Husky mixed with German Shepherd that is free to play stays happy. Playing also mentally stimulates the dog. They will increasingly become frustrated and use their intelligence to do naughty things around your house: digging up, chewing on furniture and other things, non-stop howling, and trying to escape. What stimulation or exercise your dogs need depends upon their motivation and temperament. German Shepherd and Husky Mix Training Suggestions A fairly intelligent breed interested in learning and in caring for their owner, a German Shepherd and Husky Mix is relatively easy to train. Not properly trained, these dogs can acquire habits that make the owners clench their teeth pull their hair out. From howling too much to knocking things over to chewing on shoes, there are many things you must keep your dog from doing. A German Shepherd and Husky Mix is very sensitive to vocal commands, making the training process more efficient and much easier. Start obedience training at an early age to prevent annoying habits from developing, and so that you and your pup both can live a happy life together. However, it has a predatory nature, and without proper socialization or training, it might get inro trouble with rodent-type pets or even cats. They can also be extremely overprotective of children and other members of the family. If they feel that the humans they love are in danger, they may attack strangers, so watch them for this kind of behavior. We all know that every dog is unique, so you must socialize them correctly to prevent any untoward incidents. Known to be intelligent and extremely loyal, the German Shepherd Husky Mix is a fun loving, sweet, and pleasant dog. It is great service or companion dog for the family. Getting a dog with a Siberian Husky or a German Shepherd descent can break the bank for many first-time owners. Lucky for them, the Siberian Husky German Shepherd is a relatively affordable dog. Be warned, though. Proper breeding costs a lot of money when it comes to veterinary care, health screening, vaccinations, flea treatments, deworming, and many other procedures to ensure that the puppy is healthy. While herding dogs were being bred in Germany throughout the 19th century, the first formally recognized German Shepherd was registered by Max von Stephanitz in .The dog, named Horand von Grafrath, was the result of several generations of selective breeding to create a working dog ideal for herding sheep. The German Shepherd has a very forceful bite, and they are often mischaracterized as aggressive and likely to harm humans. However, while German Shepherds are responsible for a large number of canine attacks on humans, this is largely due to their popularity as pets and how abundant they are rather than any natural, breed-specific aggression. German Shepherds are actually considered great family pets, and they are known to be very good with children, though they can also be somewhat overprotective. .The Siberian Husky, in contrast, comes from Northeastern Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people of Siberia to pull sleds. The result is an active breed with a lot of endurance that just loves to run. These dogs do very well in cold climates, and they were introduced to Alaska around as part of the Alaskan Nome Gold Rush. While you will still find these dogs working in some frozen terrains, they are now popular household pets. While they are energetic, friendly, and excellent with children, they are also troublemakers if not trained and socialized properly. They enjoy digging, chewing, jumping, and generally escaping any kind of confined space. Both dogs are of a similar size and have a wolf-like appearance, which is part of what made them prime candidates for crossbreeding. What Are Crossbred Dogs? It is worth noting that crossbred dogs, sometimes called designer dogs, are dogs that have been intentionally bred by mixing two or more recognized breeds. It is not a term for dogs bred accidentally or without purebred ancestors. However, crossbred dogs are not recognized as separate breeds in their own right, so their behavior and characteristics are not as predictable as purebred dogs. One of the advantages of purebred dogs is that it is relatively easy to predict their size, appearance, and temperament. Gerberian Shepsky Appearance As both German Shepherds and Siberian Huskies are medium-sized dogs with a wolf-like appearance, you can expect similar traits from their offspring. German Shepherds tend to be considered medium-to-large-sized dogs. Males typically measure 24 to 26 inches in height at the withers, and the females are usually a bit smaller at 22 to 24 inches. However, both sexes tend to look bigger than other dogs of a similar height, as they have very long necks. Siberian Huskies are a bit smaller, measuring between 19 and 24 inches and weighing between 35 and 60 pounds on average. The females are at the smaller end of the spectrum, and the males are at the larger end. As a result, you can expect Shepskies to be around the smaller range for German Shepherds, with males ranging from 22 to 25 inches and females ranging from 20 to 24 inches in height. When it comes to their weight, males tend to be between 50 to 80 pounds, while females weigh a bit less at 40 to 70 pounds. Shepsky puppies tend to have a distinctive wolf-like appearance, with pointed ears and long noses inherited from both parents. Their eyes will either be brown or blue, and some individuals might have the distinctive dual eye color often associated with huskies. Both parent breeds have a coat ideal for colder climates, so this is something that can be expected from their offspring. They typically have a dual coat with a dense, soft undercoat and another layer of more durable guard hairs on top. As German Shepherds can have either medium-to-long outer coats, the same is true of their Gerberian Shepsky offspring. They are almost never one solid color and will almost always be a mix of at least two different colors. One thing you can expect from all Shepsky coats is that they will be high shedding. Anyone with an allergy to dog hair should be wary about adopting a Shepsky! Gerberian Shepsky Temperament German Shepherds are highly intelligent dogs, and they are also highly motivated to please, which makes them one of the most trainable dog breeds out there. This quality is also why they are such good working dogs. Siberian Huskies are also very intelligent, but they are far more independent. They have been bred to make challenging decisions while running across dangerous arctic territories, so problem-solving is a necessary skill. As a result, while your Shepsky will almost certainly be a very intelligent dog, they might be a bit more troublesome to train than a German Shepherd. Alternatively, they might choose to entertain themselves by digging or chewing. Both breeds were created to spend a lot of time with humans, with Huskies often staying indoors with their families for warmth. This means they tend to bond quickly with their people and are very good with smaller family members though very small children should never be left unsupervised with any dog. While German Shepherds tend to have guard dog-like protective instincts, Huskies are pack animals and enjoy the company of other dogs. So, it is difficult to predict whether your Shepsky crossbreed will display more alpha-like behavior or be more submissive and play well with other pets. Remember, proper socialization training can go a long way when it comes to ensuring that they play well with others regardless of their temperament. Neither parent breed tends to bark excessively, but your Shepsky will get vocal if they want to alert you to a threat. Huskies tend to howl rather than bark, so keep in mind you might end up with a Shepsky with an adorable howl that may disturb the neighbors. If you do find yourself with a barker, read our guide on dealing with excessive or nuisance barking. Overall, expect your dog to be high energy, combining the herding instinct of a German Shepherd with the running mandate of a Siberian Husky. Caring For A German Shepherd Husky Mix Shepskies tend to be highly trainable, so an experienced dog owner should be able to train them at home using basic positive reinforcement training. Shepskies do best when they have a large backyard where they can spend their energy. Remember, they can be escape artists, which means they need a space that is securely fenced. Fences at least six feet tall are recommended. In addition to having plenty of space, Shepskies need a lot of exercise. They should be taken outside at least twice a day for a minimum of minutes at a time. Dog parks where they can run around off-leash are ideal, as it lets them stretch their legs and burn off excess energy. Just make sure they have been properly socialized before letting them loose. They are not ideal pets for people who spend most of the week in the office or traveling for work. Expect your Shepsky to engage in destructive behavior when they are feeling the stress of abandonment. Shepskies tend to have fairly dry coats. Huskies do not have oily coats, and they will often pass this trait down to their crossbred children. Avoid excessive washing to prevent drying them out further. Regular brushing is advisable to remove shedding hair, since these dogs tend to shed a lot. This is both for their comfort and to make cleanup around the home a little more manageable for you. Shepsky Health Concerns Shepskies have a relatively long lifespan for dogs of their size, and you can expect them to live for around 10 to 14 years. Shepskies can develop joint conditions, particularly in their elbows and hips, which can lead to pain and discomfort moving as they age. Adequate exercise and an orthopedic bed that allows them to take the pressure off their joints are both useful tools in preventing these issues. This unique crossbreed can also be prone to developing eye conditions such as canine glaucoma, corneal dystrophy, juvenile cataracts, and progressive retinal atrophy. Losing at least some of their eyesight in later life is a common concern. German Shepherd Husky mixes are also slightly more susceptible to developing epilepsy than most other breeds, though the condition is still relatively rare. Medications exist to help manage this condition. This can be prevented with regular cleaning and maintenance. You might be able to find a Gerberian Shepsky in a local shelter to adopt for a small fee, or you can opt to find a dedicated Shepsky breeder. Do Gerberian Shepskies shed a lot? Yes, German Shepherd Husky mixes shed a lot, and there is no getting around it. Both parent breeds have a thick winter coat that is prone to shedding, so this is a common characteristic in their offspring. If you are looking for a medium-sized low shedding dog, consider something with the Poodle breed in the mix, such as a Labradoodle or Goldendoodle. Poodles have a low-shedding coat that they typically pass on to their crossbred offspring. Do German Shepherd Husky mixes smell? Many Huskies pass on their low-oil coat to their crossbred offspring. If you do adopt a Shepsky, remember not to bathe your dog too regularly. The lack of oil can make them prone to having dry skin, and excessive washing can exacerbate this problem. Do Shepskies get cold? Siberian Huskies were bred to deal with extreme cold, and German Shepherds also have a thick coat to deal with colder temperatures. This means their offspring are very well insulated against the cold, and you will almost never have to worry about them being uncomfortable in colder temperatures. Overheating, however, can be an issue, so always carry water when you go out. You will probably find that your Shepsky prefers to relax in cool, shady areas. What is an Alusky? This is a very popular designer breed, as they often have distinctive black and white patterning as well as an overall wolf-like appearance. What dog breeds are commonly mixed with Huskies? As well as German Shepherds, you will find a number of other dog breeds that make a good mix with a Husky. The Verdict On Shepskies If you are looking for a fun and energetic dog that will make a great addition to a boisterous and adventurous family, then a German Shepherd Husky mix can be a great choice. Shepskies are very family-friendly pets that are loyal and highly trainable, but they also need lots of love and attention to keep them healthy and happy. They have a distinctive wolf-like appearance, but are far from aggressive and are generally very good with children. However, they are known for their delightful wolf-like howl. Remember that crossbreed dogs are always somewhat unpredictable in their appearance and temperament, so ensure that you meet the dog you plan on adopting first before deciding whether to add them to your family. Shepskies are best for people who have quite a bit of space for their dog to play and usually have someone to keep them company at home. You will enjoy training your Shepsky yourself if you have a bit of experience with dogs, but steer clear if you have allergies, as they are big shedders! The Australian Labradoodle Association If the breeder that you are thinking of using is not on the list of one these associations, then ask yourself and the breeder — why not? The Labradoodle associations only list the breeders with sound credentials. Who carry out all the necessary health testings on all their breeding stock, care, and love their dogs. They breed these puppies with integrity and from Australian Labradoodles with wonderful character and temperament. How to Choose the Right Labradoodle Breeder? If you are not able to buy a puppy from one of these accredited breeders and you have never purchased a labradoodle puppy before, then how do you avoid buying one from a backstreet breeder or puppy mill? These people breed puppies for profit and sell them to the first person who turns up with the cash. These puppies can develop serious health problems due to poor breeding. Good labradoodle breeders will only breed from dogs that are carefully selected for size, temperament, health, lineage, and possibly their coat. There are some signs that can help you to identify a good Labradoodle breeder. Tips for Selecting a Good Labradoodle Breeder Good breeders keep the dogs in the home and as part of the family — not outside in kennel runs. You should also make sure that the area where they keep the puppies is clean. They have Labradoodles, which appear happy and healthy. They want your entire family to meet the puppy and are happy for you to make more than one visit. Good breeders only breed one or a maximum of two types of dogs. Like purebreds, Labradoodles can have potential genetic weaknesses. A good breeder should explain these and should have documents to prove that both parents are free from any genetic defects such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and eye problems like progressive retinal atrophy PRA and hereditary cataracts. Responsible breeders should provide you with a contract and health guarantee and allow you plenty of time to read them. They guide you on caring and training for your puppy and are available for your assistance after you take your puppy home. Good labradoodle breeders feed their dogs with high-quality dog food. Finally, a good Labradoodle breeder will provide references from other families who have bought their puppies. Make sure you call at least one. Questions to Ask a Labradoodle Breeder Have the parents been health screened? Ask for the original copies of the hip, elbow, and eye certificates. Can you put me in touch with someone who already has one of your puppies? Follow up recommendations. Are you a member of one of the Labradoodle associations or clubs, and are you listed as a recommended breeder? How long have you been breeding Labradoodles? You are looking for someone who has a proven track record. How many litters do your females produce a year? Do you breed any other type of dog? Dog breeders who breed various types of dogs may be more interested in the income than improving the crossbreed. What is so particular about this litter of puppies? You are looking for a breeder who uses good breeding to produce healthy dogs with excellent temperaments suited to family life. You may also be looking for one which is low-shedding and more allergy-friendly. Be patient and pick the right one. What do you feed your adults and puppies? They should be feeding their dogs quality dog food. How big will my puppy grow? The answer will depend on whether your puppy is an F1 or multi-generation Labradoodle. An experienced breeder with proven stock should be able to give you a good idea of how big the adult dog will be. If there is a health or temperament issue with the puppy, what guarantee do I have that I can return him or her? Check whether you will have a verbal agreement or a written contract. The latter is always better. Summary A good labradoodle breeder will also agree to take a puppy back within a specific time frame if it does not work out for you, or if there is a health problem. Happy, healthy puppies are what everybody wants. Taking the time now to find a responsible Labradoodle breeder is time well spent. It could save you a lot of time, money, and worry in the future and help to ensure that you and your chosen puppy are happy together for many years. Related posts:. By cataloging helpful information about the breed and offering networking services to breeders and owners, we promote responsible dog companionship and strive to make a positive difference in the Australian Labradoodle community. All purebred dogs began by crossbreeding dogs of two or more different breeds to achieve desirable traits. Dogs displaying those traits were bred to each other to continue the breed development. This has been going on for hundreds of years. The development of the Australian Labradoodle is no different. Forward thinking breeders in Australia began breeding these labradoodles to a number of other dog breeds in an effort to produce litters with consistent conformation, coat type, and temperament. Most often the English Cocker Spaniel and American Cocker Spaniel were the breeds used with the labradoodle, however, it is reported that a few other dog breeds were also introduced into certain early lines. It is the combination of all these breeds that make up what we call the Australian Labradoodle today. The Australian Labradoodle is a purpose bred dog, with its beginnings as a service dog. Today it is also sought out as a family companion especially for those who suffer from allergies or prefer its non-shedding qualities. Here in the USA, the Australian Labradoodle Association of America ALAA has been monitoring the development of this breed by maintaining a database of pedigrees and health testing of registered dogs for almost twenty years. While the Australian Labradoodle is not considered an AKC recognized breed, we do have a breed standard that conscientious breeders work towards. We have elected to keep our stud books open which means we allow for the development of new lines using registered Labradors, Poodles and Cocker Spaniels in an effort to expand our gene pool and keep inbreeding to a minimum. These new lines are then bred into existing lines that date back to the founding dogs from Australia. This of course is an option for breeders and there are many who are only working with descendants of the dogs from Australia while others have dogs that are a combination of old and new lines. It is our breed standard and our pedigree database that dictates the breed development and breeders choose pairings to improve temperament, coat and structure working within the guidelines set out by the ALAA. The ALAA has made extensive efforts to track and verify the pedigrees of our registered dogs, therefore, an ALAA verified pedigree is the only true identifier of an Australian Labradoodle. Their adorable curly fur and expressive faces make you want to cuddle them — and these little guys love nothing more than a good squish. All this and more makes our labradoodle puppies for sale one the most in-demand in our center. Activity-loving families adore these dogs for their propensity towards sports, and anyone who prefers low-shedding pooch benefits from their wooly or fleecy fur. Labradoodle puppies for sale are so cute and come in such a wide range of colors that it makes choosing your new best friend super-hard! While spearheading the Royal Guide Dogs Association of Australia breeding program, he conducted the crossbreeding of a standard poodle and Labrador retriever in view of it being a hypoallergenic guide dog for blind people. The first example of this type of dog, called Sultan, went to live with a lady in Hawaii, where other breeders saw him as an inspiration and this is how Australian Labradoodle puppies started. Both the International Australian Labradoodles Association and the Australian Labradoodles Association of America are working hard to incorporate more intergenerational breeding so these dog breeders can register this type of dog as a purebred dog. Its gentle, obedient and intelligent personality combined with a hypoallergenic coat make it ideal for family members with allergies, but it also makes an excellent service or therapy dog. Labradoodle Puppies Lifespan When properly taken care of, healthy dogs tend to live anywhere from 10 to 13 years. The lifespan of our Labradoodle puppies for sale is slightly above average at 12 to 14 years. Here are the life stages of multigenerational Australian Labradoodles: Puppyhood: First five months Adolescence: Between five months and two years Adulthood: Between two and three years Middle age: Between seven years and 10 years Senior: Over 10 years Labradoodles need the most attention and care in the first and last stages of their life. During puppyhood, their minds are highly impressionable, which is ideal for training. During their senior years, Labradoodles are more susceptible to health problems, which means owners need to keep a watchful eye. Labradoodle Size The size of labradoodle puppies for sale directly relates to the size of their parents and which generation of breed Labradoodle breeders chose. The larger the puppies, the larger the adult dog will be, and the faster their growth will be coming out of the puppy stage. A standard labradoodle puppy will weigh from pounds by the time it reaches two months of age. By a year old, it will have grown dramatically to up to 80 pounds, depending on the size of its parents. Medium Labradoodles occupy a spectrum of sizes between standard and mini Labradoodles, with the specifics depending heavily on the details of the breeding pair that birthed them and the breeding program they come from. Labradoodle Puppies Temperament While Labradoodle breeders originally bred the Australian Labradoodles as therapy dogs, their fun, friendly personalities made them popular pets. Now you can find these sociable dogs in homes across the globe. Here are some of the top personality traits of our Labradoodle puppies for sale. They tend to do best in active households where they can work off all that pent-up energy. You can fulfill their needs through the following activities: Walks or jogs: Labradoodles make great walking companions and can even keep up with you during a jog. Playing in the yard: Enjoy a game of fetch with your furry friend in the yard or just let it loose on its own. Dog sports: If you stay active through sports, consider making your labradoodle a part of your routine. Bring it on bike rides, go for a run together or kick a ball around in the yard. Obstacle courses: Set up an obstacle course for your dog using household items. Scavenger hunt: Creating a scavenger hunt for your canine is a great way to exercise its body and brain. In general, Labradoodles need anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day. You can also enroll them later at a Labradoodle puppy alumni school for proper training. Friendliness What makes Labradoodles the perfect puppy compare to other dog breeds is their ability to get along with just about anyone. They inherit this trait from their Labrador retriever parent, a breed also known for its outgoing nature. You can trust your labradoodle to form friendships with everyone, from children and older adults to strangers and other puppies. Thanks to their affectionate, sociable personalities, Labradoodles make great pets for first-time owners, families, or anyone looking for a companion. Intelligence Thanks to their poodle parent breeds, Labradoodles are incredibly intelligent dogs. Because Labradoodles are intelligent, they often crave mental stimulation. Labradoodle Puppies Grooming Our Labradoodle puppies for sale have a variety of coat textures that dog owners enjoy, but in general, their low shedding coat needs brushing at least twice a week. Not only does this keep them tangle-free but it also removes excess debris from their coat, keeping them fresh and hygienic. Regularly trim the hair around their eyes and in between their paws to prevent these problem areas from causing irritation. Pooches with fleece coats tend to have longer fur and benefit the most from going to a professional groomer — although every dog loves getting pampered once in a while. Once they reach eight weeks, changing to dry kibble food is best. We recommend feeding a Labrador puppy dry kibble for the first months before changing to an adult food type. But to remain healthy, owners should know what to feed them. Dog owners should feed a Labrador puppy dry food kibble , wet food, or fresh human food, depending on their budget and lifestyle. There are many options for food for dogs, and it can become challenging to determine which one is the best option for the dog. We have found the best options and listed them below. They help us with our daily tasks, are always there when we need them, and bring great joy to our lives. But, it is essential to ensure that our dog gets the best nutrition possible. They have a lot of energy and need to be fed accordingly. This includes the number of calories, food type, and the number of meals per day. We will explain all of these factors to help understand what to feed these precious animals. A Labrador puppy needs high-quality protein in their diet, so they should not be fed just any type of food. This is why we recommend three food options: dry food or kibble, fresh food or human food, or wet food. We prefer using dry food or kibble in most cases, but it is beneficial to start with wet food for young puppies and transition to dry food after a few weeks. Feeding a puppy human food is possible, but it can be more expensive and requires extra work to stick to a cleaner diet at this age. We have found it to be a healthier and more convenient option for our pets. It is also a good alternative to wet food which can be difficult to store and prepare. The benefits of dry dog food are that it offers the pup a balanced diet that doesn't need refrigeration. It also offers convenience because we can buy it in bulk and store it in the pantry or freezer until needed. Dry dog food is also less expensive than wet food, which is another benefit for pet owners. Fresh Food Human Food Feeding a Labrador puppy a diet of fresh, real human food is one of the best things to do for their health and well-being. It will not only make them happy and content, but it will also keep them healthy. This eliminates the guessing game; they are only fed real, natural foods with no unknown ingredients. However, it will become expensive and require regular cooking and preparation. Wet Food Wet food is recommended for Labrador puppies when they are first born and for the first weeks while they grow. It can be either raw or cooked. Wet food is a good source of water and minerals, which are important in the early days of their life to help them grow strong bones and teeth. It should be given to a puppy as soon as it comes out of its mother's womb, but it must not be given before it starts eating solid foods because it will cause diarrhea. Once they get more mature, moving to kibbles is best. It is known for its low level of grain and carbohydrate content and high protein content. Once they reach the week mark, there are better options to help the puppy continue to develop and grow. This food also helps with digestion and weight management. It also promotes proper bone growth with antioxidants and necessary nutrients like vitamin E. The kibble is also shaped strategically to help puppies who chew fast while helping with jaw growth. Overall, this is the best food option for a Labrador puppy. It is designed for all life stages, from puppies to seniors, and we love the benefits it provides to younger labs. The product features a blend of highly digestible proteins, omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, taurine, and glucosamine. This wet food provides the perfect balance of healthy proteins to support a dog's growth while providing the energy they need to maintain its fitness levels. This can be fed as a meal or as an occasional snack between meals. It has no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, or added sugar. It also contains omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which are important for healthy skin and the dog's coat. They are large, strong, intelligent dogs that need a lot of attention, exercise, and food. These dogs can be picky eaters and usually need a lot of calories because of their size. This is especially true for puppies so they can grow properly and remain healthy due to their increased risk of health issues. Food Type Labrador puppies' most popular dog foods are kibbles and canned wet food. Kibbles are the best option for a puppy because they are easy to chew and digest. Canned food is a good option for pups who have difficulty chewing or digesting dry food and would benefit from a little moisture in their diet. The food type also depends on the owner. Dry food or kibbles are faster to prepare, while serving human food to a lab puppy requires extensive prep time. Nutritional Value When it comes to nutritional value, we want dog food that has high-quality protein and carbohydrates. This will help the puppy grow strong and healthy. This is why we need to take into account the nutritional value, quality of ingredients, and taste. It should be made with all-natural ingredients that are sourced from human-grade materials such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. A brand should have all the essential nutrients for a pup but still, be low in toxic elements and preservatives too. Dietary Restrictions Lastly, consider the dietary restrictions of the Labrador puppy before choosing a dog food option. This includes any allergies or health concerns for the dog and shopping for something that suits them best. For example, lab puppies must reach a certain carbohydrate and protein number daily. Labradors are also known to have allergies, especially young ones, so planning around this is crucial. A puppy should be fed at least three times a day, with a meal size that is appropriate for its body weight. They should also be given small daily snacks to keep them satisfied and happy, including treats to help with training. We feed our puppies the best that we can. We want to give them all the nutrients and vitamins they need. We also want to make sure that they are getting a balanced diet. The most important thing when feeding a Labrador puppy is that they get enough calories from their food every day. In the first weeks, the puppy should eat four smaller daily meals. Once the lab reaches three months, this can be changed to three meals per day. And after months, we recommend two meals per day. The key is not to change the calories much when the meals change but to simply modify the size of each meal to fit the total daily food amount. Feeding a Labrador puppy is not rocket science, but there are some things everybody should know about what to feed them and when to feed them. We have covered this basis, but changes need to be made as they age. This leads to a common question about changing food to fit the needs of a grown adult Labrador. The dog's age will determine how quickly they grow and how much energy they need. Lab puppies can stick with kibbles for up to 12 months. Increase portions as your puppy grows. Be sure to follow the rule of dog treats. This is about changes over time. Nutritional deficiency or excess can lead to disease and ultimately death. You may have noticed that your dog has dandruff after changing food, but the food is really good — try adding levels of zinc and vitamin A. Your main task as a pet owner is to monitor the health of a small family member and be responsible for this life. Image credit: canva. The first one is a protein that can be found in meat, poultry, fish, yogurt, and cooked eggs. Protein is responsible for the structure of muscles and tissues, as well as the formation and growth of new cells. In the diet for a Labrador puppy, it is imperative to include carbohydrates that are found in brown rice, potatoes, and wheat. Carbohydrates supply the body with glucose, which is responsible for the functioning of the brain and nervous system. An obligatory component of dog food is fats. It is a source of energy, development, and functioning of the cells and muscles of the body. Fats are included in oil and even fish oil. Puppy food for Labs or any other dog includes a certain amount of minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and others. Minerals in dog food form bones and cartilage and balance the nerves. It promotes the production of hormones in the Lab puppies, regulates the balance of fluids in the body, and transports oxygen into the blood. Like people, dog and puppy foods should include plenty of water. Water is life! Once in the body, they strengthen bones, and teeth and fill the Labrador puppy with energy. Cost point Every time you buy pet food, you think about the issue of price. Of course, cost is important when making a purchasing decision. You should be aware that higher-quality puppy food can cost more than the average price. Your dog is an irreplaceable member of your family, which must be protected and loved with all your heart. Risks and diseases Lab owners should know well about all risks and diseases that their dogs may face. Numerous studies confirm that the Labrador Retriever breed is prone to digestive sensitivities and skin allergies due to irritating foods. This leads to pruritic diseases. Skin allergies and problems with the gastrointestinal tract are severe. Labs are prone to obesity. Maintaining a healthy weight and body is considered an important point of caring for a dog. In general, Labrador Retrievers should have a taut, hourglass-shaped figure. Obesity puts additional stress on bones and joints and makes it difficult to stay healthy. To combat weight gain, you need to exercise your dog with certain physical exercises, follow a proper diet, control portion sizes, and receive treats. Another disease caused by malnutrition is Gastric dilatation-volvulus. In short, this is boating. Indigestion is a severe problem that should not be ignored. The worst risk is death from the musculoskeletal disorder of muscles, nerves, joints, arthritis, and spinal discs. Also, you should be aware that feed processing of dog foods affects the occurrence and development of cancer. Dry food is cooked at a very high temperature, which leads to the formation of harmful chemical elements in the body of the dog. Such food also contains carbohydrates, which break down into cancer-causing glucose. You can combine dog food with homemade recipe food for your pet yourself. Moreover, it is a good way of feeding your dog if the dog food at home is over or there is very little left, but you need to extend the time until the next purchase. Dogs fed solely on home-cooked or combined diets lived for about 13 years, while those fed only processed food lived for about 10 years. Like human food, it can be chewed easily. Food is broken down in the body so that key nutrients are absorbed more quickly. Such food facilitates digestion and relaxes the stomach. Reducing stress on the digestive system reduces the likelihood of bloating. If you still decide to cook homemade food, follow the rules. Study each ingredient. Cook all animal products for the exact finish to kill harmful bacteria. Risks of homemade dog food Most of the problems are caused by a misunderstanding of the nutritional needs of the Labrador. If you do not understand the effect of food on the body of your pet, which reaction is correct and which can lead to negative consequences and different stages of life, contact a professional veterinarian who can tell you in detail about the effect of food on the body of a dog and how to properly form a pet diet. It has an above average protein content than the minimum recommended for your dog, coming in at 31 percent protein at dry weight. The protein it has comes mostly from chicken by-product meal which is considered somewhat low quality and consists of whatever is left after chickens are slaughtered. However, it does NOT — as you might read elsewhere — consist of anything from feet to beaks. According to dogfoodadvisor. After chicken by-product meal, the second ingredient in this food is brewers rice. The fourth ingredient is corn gluten meal which is a residue left over once most of the useful, starchy carbohydrates have been washed out of it. With such popularity, high ratings and reviews with so many people saying their dogs thrive on this, there must be some truth to it. The third to 5th ingredients are wholesome whole grains that provide high energy from complex carbohydrates that are easy to digest. These are far better than corn and most other sources of carbs found in cheaper foods that are hard for a puppy to get any nutrition from. Out of everything in this product, 40 percent of it is protein, which is higher than average. About 14 percent of it is fat, and of the remainder, 38 percent is carbs. And the omega oils may help reduce risk of developing arthritis. Not only this, but Labradors are a large breed and are more sensitive to nutritional imbalances than smaller breeds. You really do need to get their diet right to do the best for them. Luckily, many brands of food specifically aimed at large breeds and Labradors have been created that provide everything they need in just the right amounts, that are easy for an owner to feed by simply following instructions on the packet. how often should french bulldog puppies eat - I am about 2 years old and I love follow my foster mum around. She tells me I am her shadow. My foster potty trained me in a day and she said I am very very smart and I have to agree with that. I also learned new commands like sit, down, and off. We are working on the stay but I have a hard time sitting still because I have lots to keep an eye on inside. She walks me always on her right side and I became very well behaved in our leash walking training. I do like to be right by my foster brother Logan, so sometimes I will pull to be with him. I have an another foster brother and he is smaller and furry and he meows for food all the time when he is not sleeping. I love him and he give me sand kisses. We went to a coffee shop other day and all these people want to pet me and take pics of me. I felt like a movie star! On the walks I get overly excited when I see other dogs and I am very vocal about it. Sometimes the dogs get scared of me, but I assure you, I am awesome and not aggressive at all. I just want to say hi to ALL the dogs! But I warm up to everyone very quickly. I am getting a lot of love and attention right now and it will be ideal for me to not be left alone for too long. Please read through all info below as it goes over our adoption process. If you have any questions after reading the info below please feel free to contact us! Deposit payments are only accepted zelle at this time. No other forms of payment for deposit will be accepted at this time. We update the pups photos once a week until 7 weeks of age, typically on the day of the week they were born. I do my best to keep to that day, unless something comes up, then they might be delayed by a day. Photo day can be extremely time consuming, if you can imagine. One litter typically can take between hours to do photos, so typically they get uploaded by late afternoon to early evening. Once puppies are chosen. We do updates more than most breeders we know as we have purchased from other breeders and rarely got photos more then every weeks. If updates are done more than that, you will not be able to see or appreciate the growth process, so we do not do updates more often then that. Because puppies have limited immune systems and require many rounds of vaccines until 16 weeks of age before they are considered fully immune, we take extra precautions to ensure the health of our little ones while in our care. Disease and viruses can easily be tracked and transferred through contact with clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc. To prevent any risk to our pups, we do not show any pups in person. Pups are chosen by pictures and videos posted on our website and social media pages. I do my best to accommodate when trying to choose your new family addition. If more photos or videos are needed to make your decision, please feel free to ask. I do post an "intro video" of every litter. This video is typically posted around 9 to 10 days of age and goes over each puppy in the litter in detail so all markings can be seen on each puppy. When there is a waiting list in place, the puppy picking process does not start until pups are at least 10 days of age to ensure all pups are growing and striving as they should be. Once they reach that milestone the picking process will begin for families on the waiting list. Any pups still available after 8 weeks of age, we will gladly try to set up video meet and greets for the pups and you, if you are interested in any of our available pups. There have been spikes of the deadly virus parvo and also distemper in recent years and we have stopped all in person viewing. I will not chance the health of our pups, as healthy pups is our top and number 1 priority. If you have any further questions about this, please let me know. All of our pups come with one year fatal genetic health guarantee, They also go home with their CKC registration forms, age appropriate vaccines, 2 rounds of wormer records of what we have given will be provided with your puppy , one year fatal genetic health guarantee which is on our contract , 30 day free pet health insurance option, and a small take home bag with some goodies to help with acclimation in their new homes including a blanket with mom and siblings scent all these things are included unless specified otherwise.
