I have always loved the boxer, and I started studying genetics and how everything works, from horses and their colors and coat patterns to dogs and where they all came from. I studied different dog breed and where they originated and what dogs were used to create those breeds, I found breeds that were already closely related and had some of the same history as the Boxer. Our first two litters were out of small standard healthy boxer females. Roxie and Valentine. Val was bred to a Boston terrier, and Roxie was bred to a pocket puggle. Overtime and endless searching we found another small standard boxer, then we added a couple more, a new Boston male. We were now crossing the lines and breeding back in the boxer blood and have .That's why you can end up with perfect puppies and not so perfect puppies within one litter. One thing that I will say. Miniature Boxers are appealing because they hold the promise of being easier to manage, feed, and care for. Many miniature Boxers are mixtures of Boxers and other, smaller dogs. So, they are not strictly Boxers at all. They could possess characteristics of both parents. Not just the Boxer. This means there is no predicting whether your mixed breed miniature Boxer will have the Boxer-like traits you are looking for. The mix is likely to be much smaller than a purebred Boxer. The overall outline and facial features of a Boston and a Boxer are very similar. As a result the mix will likely still look like a small Boxer. But, Boston Terrier Boxer mix puppies are certain to have very flattened faces. Dogs with flat faces are very vulnerable to brachycephalic airway syndrome. This is where the structure of the skull makes it hard for dogs to breathe, and regulate their body temperature by panting. This issue is uncomfortable and miserable at best. Introducing the Dwarfism Gene Another way that miniature Boxers may be developed by breeders is through introducing genes for dwarfism.
