Goldendoodles for sale in Virginia and surrounding areas. The size range of the female English Golden Retrievers I have owned range from lbs. In my 20 years of breeding English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles I am achieving a very good consistency with creating sizes. I am at the forefront of creating and perfecting the Pocket Size lbs. Micro is then a huge classification of any puppy less than 14 lbs. Whether you call them Micro Goldendoodles, Micro Petite Goldendoodles, Toy Goldendoodles, Teacup Goldendoodles; they all have the same great personality as their larger Goldendoodle ancestors in a cute small little package. Here at Hilltop Pups, we only breed Poodles with English Golden Retrievers for their excellent health record with an average life span of years. Absolutely no other breeds mixed in to rush the downsizing. Downsizing takes several generations by breeding in a smaller size poodle every 2 to 3 generations to retain the English Golden Retriever personality. Our smallest poodle here is 3 lbs. Since Hilltop Pups team is creating and perfecting the smallest Goldendoodles along with the increasingly popular Irish English Goldendoodles; we have our own size range chart of the average sizes we have witnessed in the past 20 years of breeding. Until an organization such as AKC or CKC identifies Goldendoodles as an official breed, no organization can state what the size standards are as they vary so greatly with breeders breeding American or English Golden Retrievers, plus the range of poodle sizes from lbs. Although Goldendoodles are not considered a Purebred dog breed; it is still important to register your puppy with a reputable canine tracking organization. This will allow breeders to have the information necessary to make responsible breeding decisions. I am an official Preferred Breeder by the strict Breeding Standards set forth by CKC which has the best pedigrees for tracking ancestors for breeding purposes. There are many Designer Dog Registries, but I prefer one of the two largest reputable groups. The English lines create the Teddy Bear look. The English Golden Retrievers have short stocky legs and shorter body length, whereas, American Golden Retrievers can have long bodies and are taller. From there we will have a better understanding of your wants and needs, to properly answer your questions. At Hilltop Pups you get the honor of choosing your puppy with our expert assistance of course. We do not assign puppies to you. We allow visitors because we are proud of our establishment. Beware of Breeders not allowing you to visit and hiding behind Parvo to scare you off. Google Earth those Breeders addresses and names. If you cannot find their name and address on their website immediately exit their website, they are hiding something such as arrest record for cruelty to animals. There are as many good Breeders as there are Puppy Mills out there. My two daughters Abby and Brittany are breeding dogs at their houses, and all puppies are raised with the same excellent breeding practices. Our three sons also house dogs for us; all their dogs are listed on my website, so we can link our websites together. I love hearing from my puppy parents how easy going their puppy is and friendly with everyone. This is due to all the loving care givers our dogs and puppies are with every single day. I have my three Granddaughters ages help with puppy Early Stimulation training and play, so puppies meet a wide variety of people and children in a comfortable trusting setting. When a puppy has been trained by only one person, say a lady; then the puppy may be fearful of a man or a child. Thus, we create confident, brave well-adjusted puppies. Luckily, I have the sweetest husband that cannot sit still and is always looking for something to do or something to clean up. Feel free to contact us via email preferred at hilltoppups yahoo. We will make every effort to answer your questions promptly and truthfully! During busy times, such as when there are several litters of puppies to care for or a mom in Labor, email is much easier for us and we can put in writing complex questions, so you have time to digest and study the information. Our FAQ page is an excellent place to start if you are not familiar with Goldendoodles, as I have collected 20 years of most often asked questions. Email is more efficient; when you call, I may be bathing or grooming a dog or puppy and I cannot leave them unsupervised. Emailing gives me time to answer questions thoroughly, attach reading material, pictures of puppies or Goldendoodles for example. For those people that cannot visit in person, we provide a lot of pictures and video to assist with the selection process. On our website you can search pages by size category, so you have less to look through. On the Sire and Dam pages all our dogs are listed and their health tests. Click on any document to view it. If you do not adopt a puppy from me request proof of health documents and pedigrees before submitting that non-refundable deposit. If a Breeder does not present documents up front, some never will. Some of the dogs listed on my website live with my two daughters and three sons. My two daughters work with me, live close by, and will someday take over my business. It all started here with a dog loving family with 5 children. With my background of Human Resource Management, I know how to research and apply my knowledge in respect to Breeding Laws, better breeding practices, and making my business the best it can be from the treatment of my dogs to my customer service. Some Breeders pick your puppy for you. At Hilltop Pups you get to choose your puppy with our expert advice. We post pictures of puppies every 7 to 10 days with videos, so you get to watch them grow. I am aware some of you are coming a great distance. Go to your car in advance and GPS our address, make sure your GPS is set for highways "not scenic route" as we live on the edge of a town and the GPS will take you through winding country roads. Then give yourself an extra half hour, as I prefer you be early than late running into the next appointment. If you are not able to visit, I take many videos of the puppies and if you have narrowed down your selection to two puppies; we can make you videos of just those two puppies. Rarely in the last 18 years has someone changed their mind when they arrived here and picked a different puppy than the puppy they first fell in love with via our website. You are welcome to fly here to get your puppy. Currently American Airlines has resumed puppy shipping, but temperatures at any point in the flight including departure and layover, must be below 85 degrees and above 32 degrees. Which is a challenge here during the Summer and Winter months, plus any stop over destination and arrival destination temperatures. You are welcome to fly here; Louisville Kentucky airport is the closest at only 80 miles away. Many people are choosing Delivery to your door via vehicle delivery service. Here are reputable delivery companies I have been using for years; you contact the companies directly, arrange shipments with them, and pay them their shipping fee when they deliver the puppy to you. Flight Nanny Service contact Mary Venneketter for cost .Early Stimulation Training program is our highest priority which we start at 3 days old and once puppies are walking around, we still hold them every day on their backs, talk to them to create eye contact, rub all over them to make grooming easier in the future. We teach our puppies not to jump on people and to sit at your feet for attention. Puppies are paper trained to go on shredded paper which feels just like grass, so house training is a breeze, or if you need to train on potty pads that is easy as well. See what your puppy learns before you get the puppy home. The first step in your puppy's future. The next step in your puppy's future is your training from the very first day your puppy enters your home. Want to train your puppy from the convenience of your home as early as the day the puppy arrives home? No waiting until your puppy is fully vaccinated to start training. I suggest you start the training program before your puppy arrives; so you will be off to a great start. After completing this course your puppy should qualify. They are very friendly, helpful, easy to understand, and encouraging, which motivates you to continue in your training adventure. They offer video lessons, plus one on one training question and answer sessions via video chat. This is a Lifetime Program with Members Only Access to training methods, materials, and other resources needed for Pet Parenting and beyond. To continue training where we left off, I highly suggest you have the first unit completed before you get your puppy home. We create the best puppy for you, and you create the best Dog Ever! We are proud of our establishment and have a Visitation Room which includes windows for you to view where our Adult Dogs are Housed. We bring the puppies and adults to you to visit with them. For the safety of our dogs and puppies we do not allow you to walk through the facility, because we would need to disinfect everywhere you walked. We have had this practice in place since the beginning of our breeding program and have never contacted any health concerns by doing so, beware of Breeders that do not allow you to visit hiding behind false statements. Breeders walk everywhere in the world, shopping centers, gas station, Veterinarian Offices and then come home and walk around their kennels, just like anyone else. So why shouldn't people visit? I prefer puppies to get all the interactions they can with different people; you are providing valuable puppy training as well. Evansville is a one-hour drive. This is our house, not a public shopping center. We require appointments to visit as you do want to make sure we are home and able to focus our attention on you and have adequate time for you to interact with the puppies. This is not a large place; the visitation area can get crowded quickly if more than one family is visiting at a time. Our visitation Room does have windows on two sides, so you can see where and how all our adult dogs are housed. It is very important to stay as close to your scheduled arrival time as possible, give yourself that extra half hour for traffic concerns. We are at Eastern Time. Jasper is an aesthetically pleasing clean town of 15, and always rated at the top of the best places to live listings. How amazing it would be for AKC to do this; it is up to Breeders to commit to keeping their breed healthy going forward by health testing the parent dogs. Which believe me very few Breeders invest their money back into their dogs; so always demand copies of health testing prior to even submitting a deposit. DO Not trust Breeders that say they will provide the documents when the puppy goes home, demand proof up front. It is a nightmare to try to get paperwork from a Breeder after you have the puppy, because they do not have it. The Breeder is pulling on your emotions knowing you are getting attached to the puppy and then you are stuck with no proof that you have a healthy puppy that will live a long healthy life. Breeders never to rarely give you the correct documents after you have the puppy, learn from heart breaking experiences of having to re-home dogs that couldn't pass health screening. My research, commitment, and due diligence has paid off. Here is the foundation for creating the perfect Teddy Bear Goldendoodle and how to build conformity into the Breed. At Hilltop Pups we DNA test the coat type of all our dogs so we can create the most non-shedding hypoallergenic coat as possible. I follow this DNA rule when breeding to make sure my dogs are non-shedding. No guess work involved here; You can brush them and not even get hair to pull out. Next, we only breed with English Retrievers which produce a softer less shedding less matting coat than the coarser American Golden Retriever coats. The weight range of English Golden Retrievers that I have owned is for female and for males, although they look just and big and fluffier than the American Golden Retrievers. Next, we consider the color genetics behind the poodle: Reds-, browns-, and cream-colored poodles produce soft non-shedding coats. White, Gray, and Black poodles produce shredders even in the curly dogs; thus, they have been removed from Hilltop Pups breeding program. In we started breeding the Irish Goldendoodles. I am very pleased with what I have seen in the Irish Goldendoodles. Therefore, I only breed English Golden Retrievers as their life expectancy is years and very few ever have cancer. It takes a few generations to build the dark red poodle color back into the English Goldendoodles since the English Golden Retrievers are only white to cream. For the Irish we started with breeding a health tested American Golden Retriever to a health tested Irish Setter to get the hybrid vigor and dark red color; then bred that with a health tested male poodle and then back to another health tested poodle creating the F1b Irish Goldendoodles to ensure the hypo allergenic non-shed coats, plus get the dark red color and fabulous coats. Advantages of adopting an English Goldendoodle from Hilltop Pups Size range available 8 - 38 pounds Predictable size ranges for F2b and multi-Generations Hypoallergenic if past the F1 First generation, because we can DNA test the coat types for breeding. Bassugg Puppy Video Temperament and Behavior With both of their originating breeds being very friendly, the bassugs are extremely affectionate, gentle and lovable, and you will witness their affection in their eyes, when they look at you. This dog is always busy pleasing the owner and its family. This is a very social breed and needs time with people for staying happy since they thrive on interaction with humans. They are smart, intelligent, and patient dogs that would spend quality time with children, and be tolerant to strangers and other fellow pets in its family, including other dogs. Many of them have a spirit of mischief, and would display independent behavior and try perusing their own goals, but they are not practically obstinate. But they are highly trainable dogs, and would look forward to getting your attention, thus making them a great companion dog as well. These canids might also show lazy attitude from time to time, if you would allow them to be so. In fact, they hate being left alone for long periods of time, which might eventually bore them and might even provoke them being destructive. The bassuggs prefer a warm climate, and are more active in such weathers. Care Exercise Owing to its size, the bassugg will need only an average amount of exercise daily. But, if you discover your dog is lazy and get bored easily, motivate them in different kinds of activities. Take them out for a short brisk walk session daily, as also indulge them in playing games with you. Your bassugg is fond of you, and hence, this would be the easiest way to keep it engaged in activities. You do not need to keep your dog in the leash, if you have an enclosed yard. You can also take your dog out to the dog park. Socialization too will surely keep them happy and fit. Grooming The bassuggs are average shedders. Groom them regularly, at least three to four times a week, to ensure their coat retain its gloss and good shape. This should also keep your dog clean and keep it free from matting. Health Problems General health issues are their only concern, except for the fact that, if your puppy is basically lazy, and sleep a lot, it might grow up to an oversized adult. Hence, do not ward off chances of obesity. Otherwise, the bassugg, like most other crossbreeds , does not have any breed-specific ailments. Training Being intelligent and ready to please, it is needless to say that, the bassuggs would pick up training effortlessly. However, because some can be lazy, it is your duty as a responsible owner to make sure that you keep your dog motivated and interested while training. Crate training, housebreaking, obedience, and socialization training by helping them mix with other dogs and pets, as also your neighbors or friends, become easy when they are still puppies. Begin your training sessions soon after you bring your puppy home from your breeders, or adopt them from any rescue. Though, this is not really a problem when your dog is a bassugg since this breed of dogs typically do not have any intention at all to dominate their owners. Begin your own reward system by rewarding your little one as and when they succeed in learning something new. Be it praises, be it tapping its back, or giving it a snack, rewarding would work much faster. This cross will do well on a high-quality dry kibble that offers whole protein, healthy grains, fruits, and veggies in the recipe. If you offer wet food, be sure to do so in moderation. Wet food is typically much higher in caloric content, making it easy to pack on pounds. You can also try your hand at making homemade dog food. There are plenty of online recipes you can test out. These dogs are going to love lounging in your lap, taking leisurely strolls, and napping on the porch. They can get frisky and love to romp around in intervals. But overall, their energy is moderate to low. Pugs require a total of 45 minutes to an hour of activity, but it should never be high intensity. Since Pugs suffer from breathing issues, they can overheat very easily. Always limit times of ultra-high energy playing in case they favor a Pug in this sense. Basset Hounds also need about an hour of exercise per day. You have to be careful of high-intensity training with this breed, too—but for a different reason. Bassets have long backs and short legs. Agility activities or hard running can damage the spine over time, leading to more significant issues. Do be careful not to encourage long periods of laziness since both of these breeds are prone to obesity. First things first—they are going to have a mind of their own. So, training these sorts of tasks may work well. Pugs—bless their hearts—are easily distracted, easily bored, and easily persuaded by mischief. These dogs are not a breeze to train. It takes consistency and patience to do so. When you combine the two, you have a dog that will probably be a challenge, and may even be slow to learn. That will vary from puppy to puppy, but ultimately—expect some drawbacks. Since both breeds are food-motivated, you might be able to keep their attention longer if you bribe them with snacks. While this cross can take after one parent or another, they can also have different fur texture and length. Both breeds are high shedding. Fawn Pugs have a double coat, which means they have a shorter, thicker undercoat with a longer overcoat—which sheds all year round. Basset Hounds have short, smooth coats that also shed regularly. So, to avoid hair all over the furniture, brushing your Bassugg daily can help. Using a de-shedding tool once a month can also take care of a stubborn undercoat if your Bassugg got the double-coat trait. Your Bassugg will also need their nails trimmed as needed. Keep in mind, they may be perfectly healthy with no problem. It will vary, but here are the most common health issues you may run into. Minor Conditions. Bassug Description The Bassugg is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Basset Hound and the Pug. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in either breed. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. Sadie is very lovable but also very independent. This was the absolute pick of the litter. Look at those ears. His name is Poster and he was 7 and half weeks old when this picture was taken. He has grown into a pound absolute sweetheart. Loves to be with people, is a comedian in his antics, but can be stubborn. Ron Livingston was the actor involved; very nice guy. It was a fun day to watch a commercial being shot. There were two puppies involved, our Bassugg and someone else's Puggle. The Puggle was squirmy and not interested in being good; our Bassugg just lay in the actor's arms the whole time and was right on cue about doing what was needed. Made us feel proud. She thinks she is a much bigger dog than she really is. She loves to bark at the cats and play with my old dog. Every time they play Poopsie sounds like she is mad; she growls and barks and shows her little puppy teeth. She has too much skin for her own good; when she puts her head in the right place all her extra skin falls on to her face and makes her look grumpy. Her droopy eyes and eye liner make her look sad all the time. A mixed-breed can inherit any combination of traits from their parents. Should a Pug Mix take after their Pug parent, they will be an affectionate, social dog that loves their families. A Pug tends to be playful, social, friendly, and gentle. They thrive on attention and affection and tend to get along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. As long as they are well-socialized, they also tend to be open and friendly with strangers. They can be prone to barking and it can become a nuisance behavior if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. If the other parent breed has a similar temperament, then you can expect the same from a Pug Mix. You still want to ask the breeder about the other parent breed as they will likely introduce their own potential quirks. You can also meet the mother in person to get a sense of her temperament and see the behavior she is modeling for her puppies. Although the breeder should have started socialization and training, it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home. Pugs are moderately adaptable dogs. Although they do well in apartments as well as larger homes, they are particularly sensitive to heat and cold as a snub-nosed dog breed. They also do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you should be able to expect the same from a Pug Mix. The other parent breed could still introduce some traits that affect adaptability, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. Mixed-breed dogs can sometimes be healthier than purebred dogs, but it is not a guarantee. They can inherit none, some, or all of the conditions common to their parent breeds. From the Pug side, potential health conditions to be aware of include eye problems, luxating patella , encephalitis, and hip dysplasia. As a brachycephalic, or snub-nosed, dog, they are prone to allergies and respiratory issues. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues on to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. A Pug is eager to please and tends to pick up on things quickly. They tend to be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. The other parent breed could make a Pug Mix easy to train or more difficult, so you want to make sure you ask the breeder about them. A Pug Mix can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is truly a mix of both. Should they inherit the Pug coat, it will shed a bit year-round, require weekly brushing, and the occasional bath. Cutting nails once or twice monthly keeps them from growing too long. Ear checks on a weekly basis with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. Brushing teeth or using an enzyme toothpaste every day in addition to cleanings at the vet as needed are ideal dental care for dogs. Pugs tend to sit in a low to moderate energy range. Usually, daily walks and some playtime are enough to keep them happy and healthy. They may be up for more activity, but can also get easily overheated. There are safe ways to exercise flat-faced dogs to help make sure they get enough activity. If the other parent breed also has a low to moderate activity level, then you can expect something similar from a Pug Mix. However, if the other parent breed is a higher energy dog, then you will want to make sure you are prepared for the potential of a high-energy dog. Fully-grown Pugs are usually inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother. Although it is not a guarantee, you can meet the mother in person to get an idea of what to expect in a fully-grown Pug Mix. A Pug generally lives for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, but you should be able to expect a similar average life span from a Pug Mix. Featured Pug Mix Article. A pug breed is any dog originating from the country of China. The Pugs are an ancient breed, in fact, they are one of the oldest breeds that we know of today. They have round-shaped eyes, a short nose and a tail that curls down over the back. Pugs have always had a very distinctive look. Dogs of this breed are cute and small but still have the same domineering personality that all pugs do. Pugs come in a few different colors and coat patterns, which is what makes them so unique. If you are looking for a companion that is both cute and cuddly, then look no further as this breed will not fail to bring home the glory. Pugs were made a very long time ago and they have been around ever since because they make good pets. The Pug is an interesting breed of dog. It has the unfortunate reputation of being stubborn, pig-headed and somewhat difficult to train. But with care, love and a willingness to learn, it can become one of the best companions you could have. The Pug is a very affectionate dog, and has a great temperament for children. The Basset Hound Breed Bassets are members of the hound family. Basset hounds are short-legged dogs. Their ears, neck and legs are long compared to their bodies. Basset hounds have drooping noses and short muzzles. Basset hounds typically have heavy undercoats that shed on a regular basis. Some shed more than others, but overall they all have a lot of hair to look after. They were created to run alongside hunters, helping them find their prey. The basset hound breed is a very gentle and funny breed of dog for many reasons. They are usually very friendly towards everyone, including children, and other dogs. The Basset Hound has been known to be a loyal stranger, just as they are loyal to their family, always loving and eager to please. What this mix will look like can vary greatly, depending on the characteristics of each breed. Some of them may be very close to a full-blooded Pug or Basset Hound. Others can end up looking more like hound dogs. We do know the history of both basset hound and pug breeds. Pug dogs are now among the most popular breeds of dogs nowadays. Many years ago in China, people bred dogs for companionship. A long time later, some people brought dogs from Asia to Europe. The dogs were very popular in noble families because they were small. It is said that the Basset Hound is one of the oldest hound breeds. It has been mentioned in written works for over years, with many depicting it working a pack of hounds to drive away prey. The name French basset was given to them because they were rather low and heavy, like little Frenchmen. Basset hounds are a type of dog that was originally bred for the purpose of hunting. This dog is known for its short legs, long ears, and big paws. It resembles an animal referred to as a hound but with features distinct from most dogs that belong to this group. Bassugg Appearance It may vary depending on their parent breeds. The Basset Hound pug mix and all variations have a long, low muzzle. Basset hound pug mix coats come in all colors and combinations; red is the most common of these. Their coat consists of a solid color with white markings on the legs, chest, and face. The basset hound pug mix has a long face with handsome facial wrinkles and folds. The body is of medium length, the chest well-developed, and the legs sturdy. The ears are long and floppy but they will perk up when they hear a sound. The tail is short, straight, thick, and tapered. These short-haired dogs bring lots of love and smiles. They are gentle, loyal, and energetic. They are more on the calm side, but still have high activity levels to match their small size. Bassugg Temperament The personality of a basset hound pug mix can change depending on its parent breeds. The basset hound pug mix is a sweet, loving dog that will do best when given lots of love and attention. This mixed breed dog is loyal and affectionate towards children and makes a great family pet. The basset hound pug mix will do well in an indoor setting but needs to be taken on daily walks to the dog park stretch its hardy legs and get some exercise. A bassugg has a sweet disposition. These dogs are very quiet and patient, making them a great pet for families with children. Sometimes they may be stubborn and not want to perform an action. Take your bassugg to dog obedience school to teach you both how to behave together. With proper socialization and training, these dogs can make great pets for almost anyone. This dog is not prone to any specific health concerns, but it can be prone to obesity like any other dog of this size. To keep your Bassugg healthy and happy, it is important that you feed him the proper food and avoid any foods that are bad for his health. Make sure to feed your pet the same brand of food for a period of two or three months. This will allow you to see how his body reacts to a certain type of diet and get enough protein. It may take some experimentation so that your pet can feel comfortable with a portion of particular dog food. Top-quality dog foods should be at least 80 percent meats and meats derivatives. You should buy grain-free dog food for small dogs to make sure they get what they need in terms of nutrients, minerals and proteins. A premium quality food is healthier for your Bassets hound pug mix than a budget brand cereal dog food. Bassugg Health Problems There are a few potential health problems that could occur in dogs from a Bassugg mix breed. One is a genetic problem called progressive retinal atrophy PRA , which can cause blindness. There are several things that pet owners can do to try to minimize the risk of their dog developing these health problems. That way the owners can help make sure their puppies will also be healthy. PRA is a heritable disorder, meaning that it can run in families and is more likely to be passed on to puppies when both parents have PRA. Much like hip dysplasia and BAOS, gastric torsion is a condition that can be passed down from parent to puppy. This is a health issue in which the stomach twists, cutting off blood flow and leading to the death of stomach tissue. Bassugg Training and Exercise Requirements As you are probably already aware, training and exercise are important for any dog. Bassugg dogs need to exercise daily, however, they do not require as much exercise as some breeds. Exercise will prevent your Bassugg from becoming bored and possibly destructive or even obese. Bassugg requires moderate exercise. They like both indoor and outdoor places, but they should be watched when outside because they may chase small animals. Crate training is recommended for this breed as they can be prone to separation anxiety. Bassugg dogs are fairly intelligent and training should not take too long. Bassugg will enjoy many of the same activities that all dogs do. He will love to go for walks and play fetch in the dog parks. If you have a Bassugg it is important that you make a commitment to his regular exercise. Conclusion Sometimes we find a dog combination that leaves us scratching our heads wondering what the result will be. This is one of those occasions. The Basset Hound Pug mix looks like a combination of small stature dog breeds, with a hint of the toy. This designer hybrid can be a loving family member and entertain you with his antics once he gets used to his surroundings. Ideally, this designer dog should be kept on a leash until it establishes its own territory inside and out of the home. This wonderful dog blend has the temperament of both breeds. It is gentle, lovable, and calm. A Basset Hound Pug Mix is good with children, other dogs, and strangers. This sweet dog loves to be loved by people. We're here to help! We firmly believe that if you are going to do something in life, do it the right way and do it as best as you can. We view our puppies as extensions of our family. The adoption process is an opportunity to blend our family and yours, and we keep in touch with many of our puppies' families over the years. Our advanced health testing, cutting-edge socialization, and continual customer support provide the best experience possible for families who adopt our golden retrievers. We know purchasing a puppy is a huge decision in your life, and we invite you to join us. We believe in good health. Many breeders focus on a "show" quality dog or a certain look. At Summer's Goldens, we focus on life-long family companions. While we carry many Champion bloodlines, we use careful genetic selection to lower the COI Coefficient Of Inbreeding of our dogs and improve the breed. Lower COI contributes to better long-term health and benefits golden retrievers as a whole. We don't breed just for today; we breed with the future in mind to have healthy, happy golden retrievers for decades to come. We follow the health-testing guidelines of the American Kennel Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America by examining our adult dogs' hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. We only want the finest goldens to become mothers and fathers. We also do genetic testing through Embark , one of the most reputable and thorough genetic companies. By pairing healthy, genetically diverse parents, we provide the best possible conditions for puppies to live long and healthy lives. This is especially important for purebred dogs like golden retrievers. Not only do we focus on health, but we also take extra care to socialize our puppies well. We strive to cultivate friendly personality traits in our Golden Retriever Puppies for sale. High-quality socialization during the first two months of a puppy's life is one of the most critical components of its lifelong development. Socialization provides a strong foundation for emotionally healthy, well-adjusted adult dogs. This is easy to claim but hard to do. There simply is no replacement for quality time spent with puppies. We follow the lead of Dr. Carmen L. Battaglia and start with early neurological stimulation ENS when the puppies are just three days old. We continue thorough socialization until the puppies leave us. This includes exposing our puppies to a variety of different surfaces to walk on; human touch all over their bodies; temperature changes; different sounds like fireworks, doorbells, cats meowing, and car engines; children; baths and nail trims, and more. We want our puppies to be more than just physically healthy; we want them to be mentally and emotionally ready for their future families. You are welcome to read our reviews on Google and Facebook , as well as the Testimonials on our site. Our goal is to improve the breed of golden retrievers and provide outstanding companions for families. Contact us today and experience joy through our golden retrievers! What can you expect when you pick up your puppy? All of our puppies receive plenty of love and attention. We include a care package with every puppy to help you get started on the right paw. It includes the puppy's baby photos, a blanket with the mother's scent, toys, a bag of the puppy's current food, and more to help your puppy transition as smoothly as possible. We offer lifelong support for every puppy and welcome families' questions and updates. We feel responsible for our puppies and want them to have loving homes their entire lives. We ask potential families to complete the Puppy Application on our website. We allow families to choose their puppy based on the order of deposits received. All deposits are non-refundable unless we do not have a puppy for you. Please contact Marta with any questions! Where do our Golden Retrievers live? Often, we have received prior reservations for upcoming litters before they are even expecting, so it is advisable to reserve as early as you can to assure you get a puppy in the time frame you desire. Each puppy is raised using positive imprinting and receives plenty of one-on-one love and attention. They will be well socialized and ready for your family! English Cream Golden Retriever puppies have a beautiful near-white color that understandably attracts a lot of attention. While many people claim that the English golden retriever puppies are healthier than the traditional golden retriever, we feel this is more attributable to the differences between the European vs. European or American, they all share the same excellent breed characteristics of being intelligent, intuitive family friendly pets and working dogs. Whether you prefer white, red or a shade in between, Indiana Goldens would love to provide you with your next golden retriever puppy! For information on the genetic clearances of our breeding adults, please visit Our Adults page and click on the K9Data link. She loves to run and play, enjoys exploring outside and adores snuggles on the couch! The timeframes listed below are based on our best estimate of when these pairings will occur, however, there are natural elements we do not control which may cause these estimates to need adjusting from time to time.
For the complete list please see our German Shepherd page page. The average price for a German Shepherd puppy in New York can vary depending on the breeder. Some breeders may charge more for certain colors or markings. German Shepherds with a normal temperament are more expensive than those who have an aggressive temperament due to health or poor breeding practices. Puppies from working parents tend to be more expensive as well, because of their intelligence and high energy levels which make them excellent service dogs. Some things you may want to ask the breeder include: Are the puppies parents certified free of genetic defects? Do the puppies have a health guarantee? What vaccines and deworming medications have the puppies received? What type of food and exercise do the puppies receive? Can I see the parents of the puppies? How often do the breeders screen for potential health problems in their breeding stock? Do they offer help with training or behavior issues after I take my puppy home? These organizations are full of wonderful dogs who need homes, and most of them are already housebroken and know basic obedience commands. You can see how they are being raised, which will give you an insight into their personalities and temperament. Also, you may have the opportunity to meet the mother of your future puppy which is also important when choosing a breeder. When you buy your puppy from a reputable breeder, you are getting the highest quality GSD that money can buy. You know that their puppies come from healthy parents and have received appropriate vaccinations for their age. The breeder ensures their pups are dewormed, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before they leave for new homes. Good breeders are happy to provide this information because they want you to find the perfect puppy just as much as you do. They will be able to tell you about other families who have purchased puppies in the past and give personal testimonials about their experiences with the breeder. Breeders should offer help long after you take your GSD home. A responsible breeder will have years of experience working with German Shepherds and be able to answer any questions you may have about the breed. When looking for a reputable breeder, always remember that price is not everything. The health and temperament of the puppies should be your top priority when making this important decision. Take your time in finding the perfect breeder and puppy and you will be rewarded with a lifetime of companionship from your new best friend, the German Shepherd. A good breeder will have nothing to hide and will be more than happy to provide you with contact information for families who have purchased puppies from them in the past. References can tell you a lot about a breeder, such as how healthy their puppies are, how well they were socialized, and if the breeder was helpful after the puppy was taken home. When meeting past customers, make sure to ask lots of questions. A reputable breeder will have years of experience working with German Shepherds and be able to answer any questions you may have about the breed. They should also be willing to provide references from past customers and allow you to meet puppies and their parents. The puppies should be healthy, well-socialized, and come from healthy parents. Make sure that the breeder has a good relationship with a veterinarian, as this is a sign of a kennel that cares about the overall health and well-being of their dogs. Good breeders will typically go to their veterinarians for vaccinations, check-ups, and other issues relating to the puppies. Be aware that if your breeder does not have a veterinarian they use or trust, then this may indicate larger problems within their kennel. What kind of facility are they using? Do they have any references from past customers? Do they care about where their puppies end up once you take them home? These questions can help you determine whether or not this is the right German Shepherd breeder for you and your family. A good breeder will be able to answer any questions that the veterinarian may have about the breed and their individual puppies. If they do not have a current relationship with a veterinarian, ask them why? How often do they visit their vet? What kind of services does the veterinarian offer? Is this someone you would trust with the well-being of your German Shepherd? Signs that you may be dealing with an unethical breeder include: The breeder is not willing to provide references from past customers. The puppies are unhealthy or have health problems. The breeder does not have a good relationship with a veterinarian. The puppies are not well socialized. The breeder is asking for more than the average price for a German Shepherd puppy. If you encounter any of these red flags, it is best to walk away and find another breeder who can provide you with a healthy, well-socialized puppy. It is better for everyone involved to know who the reputable breeders are so that they can be trusted by future families looking for a German Shepherd puppy. All puppies are born with a predisposition to certain health problems, and the German Shepherd is no exception. Some common health problems that can occur in German Shepherds include: Hip dysplasia. Email: [email protected] 5. Gale I. Dinces LLC. When choosing a future family member, especially a purebred German Shepherd, you should pay attention to those breeders who have special breeding programs. The Gale I. Bonnie was the star girl of all dog shows and the recipient of many blue ribbons. These days, Gale I. Dinces strives to produce top-quality German Shepherds for Schutzhund service. Of all the listed breeders, their website offers the most useful information on the German Shepherd dog breed, along with their history and puppy development. The German Shepherd breed is a pretty usual one. The biggest price-affecting factor is the location. On the other hand, the difference between lines of German Shepherds also alters the price. Most reputable breeders will ask for more money. A detailed interview with the breeder should help you determine if you should buy from that breeder. As I mentioned, recognizing which breeder is a good one and which one is not can be determined in a few short steps. Availability The biggest tell-tale sign of an unreliable breeder is their unavailability. Such dogs often have mobility issues, as well as hereditary health problems. Breeding dogs with hip dysplasia, for example, is considered unreliable. This is a painful condition for dogs, and transferring it from parents to puppies and even further is pretty curel. Expect some questions in return because a good breeder wants to make sure their puppy goes into a safe new home. Meet and greet Lastly, ask to meet the puppy in person a few times before the adoption. Sure, the whole pandemic situation has got us locked down. But, if a breeder is a reliable person, he will find a way to update you. Also, they all seem to offer photos from day one up to the day of the adoption. This is lovely memorabilia for when your puppy grows up. I find them very remarkable and stunning dogs. You will, too, once you go through these reasons why German Shepherds are awesome! Their intelligence German Shepherds are known as some of the smartest dog biscuits in the bag. They come in third, right after Border Collies and Poodles. Their loyalty It is no wonder why German Shepherds are considered terrific guard dogs! Their loyalty is never questioned. Once a German Shepherd creates a bond with its owner and the rest of the family, he will do whatever it takes to keep the family safe. Their friendliness Whether they live surrounded by kids or other pets, German Shepherds are very affectionate and caring. German Shepherds can be very sweet with the little ones. There were even some cases noted when a GSD mom adopted a lost kitten! She took care of it like it was one of her own pups. Their health We all know that every dog is prone to a certain health condition. However, German Shepherds are very healthy, but they, too, have some minor health problems that may or may not occur. With proper care, German Shepherds can live a happy and long life of up to 13 years! Their adaptability German Shepherds should live in a house with a fenced yard. But, even if you have a place in the city, you can still own a German Shepherd, of course, if you exercise regularly. Also, German Shepherds are okay in all weather conditions. They have a nice, double coat in various colors , which sheds when they need extra coolness, and fluffs up when they need warmth. Despite being so amazing, German Shepherds may not work for all dog lovers. There are some downsides of this dog breed that might be big issues for potential dog owners. The shedding gets worse in the spring and fall when dogs like GSDs experience a seasonal blowout. Their dog hair will go everywhere — really everywhere! You may either lack the time for proper exercise, or simply be a couch potato. These dogs need at least an hour and a half every day of extreme exercises. Their size German Shepherds are large doggos. The only puppy thing they keep forever is their playful personality. German Shepherds can be pretty hefty. To put them in a fenced yard in order to keep a facility safe would be just cruel. German Shepherds are sociable dogs that need interaction. Commitment As I said, German Shepherds are sociable dogs. All dogs need attention. Some love being alone more than others, but not our GSD! Conclusion German Shepherd breeders in New York are finally all here in one place. That is — only the best GSD breeders in this state and the area. I exclude unreliable breeders and puppy mills from my lists. I will never recommend you buy puppies from such people. Yes, they cost less, but just imagine how many health defects these pups may have! But, think about it: do you really prefer easy access to puppies over their general health? Up above, you have some tricks to help you with finding a good dog breeder. PupVine has got some pretty pawsome articles on German Shepherds. After all, these pups are extremely popular in the states — hand in hand with Golden Retrievers and Labradors! If you want to explore the wonderful breed of German Shepherds, my recommendations go to the following topics:. These will be ready for their new homes at the beginning of December. A little bit about us Here at London Doodles we believe a good family pet can only be created when born and bred from good pets; which cannot be achieved by breeding from dogs kept in kennels. The modern day dog is becoming less and less of a working dog in the traditional sense — their new role is to provide joy to their families. Knowing what I want from my breed and what I am already achieving is what motivates to dedicate my life to these wonderful breeds. We are small home breeders — a mother and a daughter team. Our aim at London Doodles is to work towards a multigenerational dog with a diverse genetic make up. Similar to the ;Australian Labradoodle;, except bred with our own lines so we fully know the breed inside out. We strive to create well balanced dogs suitable as pets or therapy dogs. This idea was started many years ago, but due to the ways in which the breed was founded I decided it is best to do it my way, the most ethical way I can. I want to create a breed of dog which is free from inherited conditions, with a vast gene pool, which would help with the stability of the breed. Labradoodles are well known now for their intelligence and great temperament. But many modern homes want a non shedding dog, making the labradoodle a great choice. We have mummy dogs in guardian homes, which are specially selected parents who care for the dog as their family pet, and in return for financial care, training and support for their dog, I maintain breeding rights. All of our dogs have loving homes for life, and never spend a day in kennels. Contact Us Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. We specialize in breeding Mini Goldendoodles as well as a few other breeds. We also have partnered up with several other high quality breeders that raise mini goldendoodle pups that meet our strict genetic criteria and testing. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. She is precious little one. She is so cute, and so sweet. She has so much energy. She can definitely keep up with our Standard Poodle. They run and run and have the best time. She has really developed lots of muscles and a great personalaity. Our vet says she is amazing!! She is so sweet with everyone and great with small children. I would definitely have another Moyen Poodle. I am going to give her a hair cut today, so will send another picture today or tomorrow, but sending one today that was taken a few months back. She definitely has a nice personality and a real love. She has a playful spirit and is always the life of the party. She can be super playful with the kids or just kick back and lay with me and watch a movie. She is the perfect size and a wonderful companion. I could not ask for a better poodle. Moyen poodles are so hard to find or let me rephrase that true and high quality moyens are hard to find! Thank you for producing such an amazing little girl. We are so happy for you! Jonah is amazing, smart and loving beyond all our poodles during this puppy stage. He makes us laugh constantly and is always ready for a game of whatever, just as long as it is a game. Thank you! She looks just like her dad Romeo! You do the very best breeding! To think that she will be 2 years old June 29th is hard for us to believe! Loving, sweet and beautiful! Thank you for such careful breeding! Our grand-daughter got a little girl from you last summer after seeing Zoe! Now she has her sweet Babs and is thrilled! Thank you again! I just wanted to write and let you know how Charlie is doing. He is one year old today! When we talked to you on the phone about adopting Charlie you said that you could refer us to others who could talk all day long about their dogs. Well, that is us now because he is an amazing fellow! When we were at your house and sitting on your sofa he climbed, or maybe marched is a better word, up my husbands arms and curled up behind my husbands neck. All the way home to Wake Forest, NC about 8 hours he insisted on climbing up my shoulders and sitting on the back of my neck. I love him with all my heart and soul. Let me know when the puppies arrive. If they are not all spoken for. .I may know some folks interested in seeing them. Thanks for such a wonderful dog and companion. He is great with our three young kids and his size is exactly as you described. He is about 23 pounds and still has some growing to do. He is very calm around people and other dogs. I took him to obedience class yesterday and then to a meeting and during both he just laid at my feet quietly and patiently. To look at him, you would not believe he is still a puppy because he often acts much more mature than his age 6 months. He has learned everything we have taught him superfast. I cannot say enough good things about this dog! You can tell he stayed with the litter an appropriate amount of time by the way he acts with her. I may wait to send the picture tomorrow after he Read More About Dexter .Our puppy Price is for limited registration non breeding rights. Deposit are non-refundable. The term Moyen Poodles, also called klein poodles, are a medium size poodle that fits between miniature and standard poodles. They are small enough to curl up and cuddle on your lap but large and sturdy enough to enjoy outdoor adventures such as walking, hiking, running, and swimming. They also enjoy lounging around the house and just being an intimate part of your family. Their smaller size makes them an excellent choice for apartment living and recreational vehicle camping. Their intelligence is the same as a standard poodle and even their smaller size is perfect for being excellent service dog candidates for people that do not require assistance from a larger breed dog. They are also excellent therapy dogs for hospitals, assisted living and nursing homes and schools. Although the Poodle is the national dog of France, they actually originated in Germany over years ago where they were commonly used as a duck hunter. Their curly coat protected them from the elements and they were bred for their excellent swimming skills, high intelligence, and incredible retrieval skills. The Poodle comes in three sizes — Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Throughout history, this dog breed has served many purposes. From living in the lap of luxury as companions to nobility to working out in the field as a valuable hunting companion to entertaining people in circuses around the world, the Poodle is right at home. Although they are more popular as a companion dog, the Poodle still maintains their athleticism and working dog instincts. Poodles are known for their intelligence, cheerful disposition, and sensitive nature. They are versatile dogs that make great family companions. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Due to their sensitive nature, they tend to be a better fit for older children who understand how to approach and interact with a dog appropriately. These dogs prefer peace and harmony in the household, so very young children that are too loud or rough can stress them out. The Standard Poodle also tends to be quite energetic until they are about two years old and may be prone to knock over small children in their excitement. Standard Poodles also tend to make great watchdogs and have some protective instincts. Without proper socialization, they can become skittish, nervous, and wary of strangers. Making sure any puppy is socialized early and often helps them grow into a confident, well-rounded dog. Standard Poodles are highly adaptable dogs. Their energy level tends to make them better-suited for larger homes with room for them to run. But, they can adapt well to apartment living as long as they receive the exercise, mental stimulation, and affection that they need. They tend to do well in most climates. As with most dog breeds, they are sensitive to very hot and very cold weather. These dogs are in-tune with their owners and thrive on human companionship and affection, so they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Poodles are a relatively healthy dog breed, but there are some potential health concerns to be aware of. Because of their larger, barrel-chested body type, the Standard Poodle is also at risk for bloat. Responsible breeders will screen and test their stock to ensure the genetic propensity for breed-related conditions is not passed along to the puppies. Poodles are highly intelligent, sensitive, and eager to please their owners. They are highly trainable, pick up things quickly, and are a good fit for owners of any experience level. Because they are sensitive and in-tune with their owners, they respond best to consistent, positive training techniques focused on rewards and praise. Poodle coats are curly or corded and come in a wide variety of colors. Although Poodles are known for their low-shedding, hypoallergenic coats, their coats still require a lot of maintenance. Keeping your Poodle in a short clip can help reduce daily maintenance, but still requires regular professional grooming every four to six weeks to maintain it. A longer coat requires daily brushing in order to prevent matting in addition to professional grooming every four to six weeks. Regular professional grooming often helps with this as nail trimming should be done monthly, at least, to keep nails from growing too long. Dental care for dogs , like brushing their teeth or using an enzyme toothpaste every day, is essential to protecting them from painful dental diseases like gum disease and tooth decay. You, your dog, and your groomer will thank you for it! Who knows? If you ensure these experiences stay positive, they could even become a bonding time that your dog enjoys. These are high energy dogs that require a good amount of exercise and mental stimulation every day in order to be happy and healthy. They love to stay busy and may enjoy running with you, going for a swim, taking trips to the dog park , hiking with you, and more. They also tend to be a good fit for several dog sports, such as agility, dock diving, obedience, flyball, tracking, and more. A fully-grown Standard Poodle usually stands inches tall at the shoulder and weighs between pounds. They can be slightly smaller than the usual as the Standard size is denoted by being more than 15 inches tall at the shoulder. A Standard Poodle generally lives years. Interestingly our dog never tears apart IKEA toys and they are very easy to machine wash. We luckily found it a few weeks later… but even a back up wont suffice at this point. This was a major setback for Children's IKEA, but it was a setback that would lead to important safety improvements. All soft toys were removed from the store as Carina tried to call her colleagues in Sweden. The fact that the eye came off despite all risk analyses and safety checks was very serious. Still, in hindsight, he still sees that it led to something really good. More personal expression The incident also led to the decision to not use plastic eyes at all. Embroidered eyes were not only safer, they also proved to give more character and personality to the toys. It's a loved friend to play with and find comfort with - and which parents can always feel secure about. We put our toys to the test — up against the toughest in the world much tougher than any two-year-old. All so you can worry less and they can play more. Function solution Soft toys to hug, again and again We know our soft toys should handle many years of love. Simple to keep clean and fresh since they can be machined washed. It's all free. All of us have different characteristics which we find more important than others. Every reason I list, however, is important to the childhood of your son or daughter. Having a dog helps teach responsibility to children. Caring for the dog will teach children that their pet is dependent on them for food and exercise and love. Dogs require a lot of care; they need to be fed, walked, played with and trained. Children come to understand that dogs have to learn discipline in order to be pleasant around the family and others. Children come to appreciate discipline by observing how important it is in their dog. Having a dog teaches children patience, commitment and selflessness. Caring for a dog takes a great deal of responsibility. Children learn to be less focused on themselves and more patient with others. Responsibility is a key factor in leadership development in children, and one of the best ways of learning responsibility is in the home with the family dog. golden retriever puppies in ms - However, it can sometimes be a bit tricky to figure out what size harness is best for a Goldendoodle. What size harness is right for a Goldendoodle puppy? The correct harness size for your dog depends on what type of Goldendoodle it is. Goldendoodles are a mix of golden retriever and poodle, but poodles grow to a few different sizes, including larger standard dogs, medium poodles, and small or teacup poodles. What type of poodle your Goldendoodle puppy shares genetics with will help to determine how big it will grow, although some Goldendoodles favor the size of their golden retriever parent. Picking an adjustable harness that can be made larger as the dog grows is a great idea. Miniature adult Goldendoodles generally weigh between 15 and 35 pounds and will most likely only need a small or medium harness. Large standard Goldendoodles can weigh as much as 90 pounds or as little as 50 pounds, and they might need either a medium or large harness. When should a puppy first wear a harness? This helps them get used to the feel of the harness. Getting a dog used to a harness can make leash training much easier later on. The straps of a puppy harness are also usually a bit more narrow, which is less cumbersome and more comfortable for the puppy. Why are harnesses a good choice? Back-clip harnesses are the most common harness type. These harnesses have a single metal loop at the back of the harness for the leash to attach to. However, they can be problematic when it comes to tugging on the leash, and can actually encourage this behavior. These harnesses are an excellent tool for teaching your dog not to pull. However, a dog, particularly a puppy, can become tangled in the leash more easily when it clips to the front of the harness. Dual-clip harnesses are a hybrid of the front- and back-clip harness. These harnesses have a clip in each location, so you can clip the leash wherever is most convenient, or you can gradually teach your dog not to pull by using the front clip before switching to using the back clip. For example, if you and your dog are outdoors frequently, and your dog tends to get wet or muddy, you might want to choose a nylon harness that can be cleaned easily. If you walk at dusk or dawn, a harness with reflective strips of fabric is a great choice. Sharing is caring! If you click and purchase, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Collars vs Harnesses For Goldendoodles Collars are the most common option for dogs. And, of course, you might do very well with just a collar. Obviously, this may cause your pup to cough and choke if too much pressure is applied. The most important thing when choosing the best dog harness for Goldendoodle is to select one that fits your pup perfectly. However, girth diameter is the best way to determine if the harness will actually fit your Doodle. To do this, put two fingers between your pup and the harness. Keep in mind that your puppy will outgrow their harness once they start to reach adulthood. But how do you choose the best harness for Goldendoodle? In addition to measuring your Doodle, you should also consider what your special needs are. Does your Doodle like to pull a lot? Which harness is easier to put on? Do you need extra durable material? Also, you should consider your climate. These might make some Doodles get too hot when exercising, especially since Doodles tend to run hot to begin with. These usually come with a padded layer to provide your dog extra comfort and reduce friction on the skin. No-Pull Harness No-pull harnesses are designed to minimize your dog pulling the leash. Of course, just owning a no-pull harness does not guarantee that your Doodle will magically stop pulling. Head harness, also called a headcollar Step-In Harness Step-in harnesses are designed so that your dog will have to step into the leg loops for you to put on the harness. This type of harness is great for anxious Doodles who might get scared when putting on an overhead harness. In addition, for Goldendoodles with joint problems, a step-in harness might be a very helpful option. Front Clip Harness Front clip harnesses are great for Doodles who tend to pull a lot. So, since the pressure comes from the front, your pup will naturally slow down. This is probably the most common type of harness. If you have a puller, we recommend you opt for no-pull and front clip harnesses for training. Afterwards, you can switch to back clip harnesses. Dual Clip Harness As you might already guess, dual clip harnesses provide both the front and back clip attachment loops. A dual clip harness is a great option if you like to switch it up based on your current needs. This dog harness is best for Goldendoodles who might get too hot when harnessed in bigger straps or live in a very warm climate.
