The German Shepherd Rescue Trust is a volunteer organisation providing complete care for unwanted, abandoned, neglected and stray German Shepherd dogs and puppies while actively seeking permanent, loving homes for these homeless pets. Any health problems are also addressed while the German Shepherd is in foster care. Foster duration time can vary between just a couple of days, through to a couple of weeks. On the odd occasion it has been necessary to have a dog in foster care for a few months. Reasons for extended time in foster care vary, it could be just while they recuperate from being desexed, or time to get some of the abuse victims back to physical health and get them to learn to trust again. All dogs who come into GSD Rescue are vet checked, vaccinated and neutered before placement. There is a lot of travelling to check out potential homes and to transport the dog to that new home. All this costs money, which means some dogs cannot be saved due to lack of funds. I spent hours on the couch, floor, and dog bed with her watching her tummy grow and anxiously waiting. Making sure she didn't go into labor without me knowing, in case something went wrong and one of our babies needed help. When labor started my whole life stopped. I spent every second with her. I spent my weeks playing with them and keeping them safe. I searched for you and interviewed you. As you spoke I tried to read your character. Would you love them as much as I do? Would you bring them in as part of your family? Would you care for this tiny life that I brought into this world that I am responsible for? Some of you were turned away but some of you were welcomed into our family. The day you took your baby home was harder than I'd ever let on. I was excited for you but I was also terrified. Had I chosen correctly? Were you who you seemed to be? My love and worry didn't end there. I thought about your baby regularly, saddened when I didn't get updates, ecstatic when I did. I hoped you were caring for your baby the way I care for mine. I answered your questions happily and answered them again just as happily to your babies siblings new parents. When their brothers parents decided he no longer fit in their life I welcomed him home, sorry that I had chosen wrong for him and promised him it wouldn't happen again. We have puppies happily living in downtown Atlanta, Nashville, Miami and other large cities. Some of our puppies live in typical suburban homes, others in a rural setting or on the beach. Bloat occurs when the stomach is distended with gas or air and then twists. Without immediate medical attention, the dog can die. Suspect bloat if your dog has a distended abdomen, is salivating excessively and retching without throwing up. They also may be restless, depressed, lethargic, and weak with a rapid heart rate. Your vet can help you develop a care routine that will keep your dog healthy. Check their ears for debris and pests daily and clean them as recommended by your vet. Trimming their nails twice a month is strongly recommended. These pups have thick strong nails that can get out of control very easily if neglected. One major concern when it comes to your Chow Shepherd care will be maintaining their oral health. Brushing their teeth three times a week should help prevent any major problems. Normal play on grass is fine, as is puppy agility with its one-inch jumps. Chow Shepherd Feeding An ideal Chow Shepherd diet should be formulated for a medium to large sized breed with high energy. At 5 weeks of age they are starting to run around all over the place when they are let out to play, and, when they are in their kennels, they play sometimes rather roughly with litter mates. It is during this time when some of their adult personalities will start coming out. By the end of this week their puppy teeth are all in, and they love to chew on things, including fingers if you let them. However, even at this age, they will spend most of their time sleeping, probably close to 20 hours per day, with only short times between naps when they are alert and active. Sort of like the reaction an elderly Epsom couple had last month after eight dogs, half of them belonging to Levesque, all unleashed, charged them on a neighborhood street, leaving Arthur and Anne Bouchard with puncture wounds on their skin, blood on their clothes and worry in their thoughts. He motioned Levesque to move over, away from the prying local media, seeking a private conference 20 yards down the street. She wants the nasty notes circulating on social media, portraying her as the owner of devil dogs, to stop. It just turned into a great big fiasco where dogs got hurt and people got hurt, and it was because of us not having the dogs on leashes. Passler is friends with Levesque and her partner of 16 years, Anne-Marie Saunders, their common love for dogs creating a powerful bond. They regularly walk their dogs, mostly boxers, together. Events only got worse after that first episode. Levesque said she stayed behind to comfort the young woman while Passler proceeded down River Road. Levesque arrived shortly after the damage had been done. Passler, who received his summons last week as well, declined to comment. The Bouchards in a recent interview said they had just started their walk, with Molly, their golden retriever. Their recollection was frightening and confirmed by a neighbor, Dan Prescott. Essentially, Anne and Arthur were run down from behind, with Arthur covering Molly on the ground and punching at the boxers, Anne standing, screaming and kicking at the pack of canines. Prescott raced from his house with a pair of oak sticks. It was a wolf pack. Arthur suffered several puncture wounds, including one that needed a butterfly stitch. Anne suffered a puncture wound on her hand. And two friends, both passionate dog lovers, were forced to look hard at themselves. The police held them accountable. I look for control of the dogs, and this person did not have control of his dogs. She was eager to defend her dogs. She defended her decision not to leash the dogs after the first confrontation last month, saying she had leashes with her in a bag and, besides, the dogs had always been well behaved. She wanted to set the record straight that her dogs were not pitbulls, as some in town had thought. She said they love meeting snowmobilers on the trail, love to swim, love to run and play. She was right. They wagged their stubby boxer tails and competed for attention, never revealing a dangerous side. Nevertheless, Levesque lowered her defensive shield and acknowledged that the only thing that really mattered in this case was a simple law, a statute, created to prevent injury.
