All in all, with those crazy, varied Poodle genes, Goldendoodles can come in pretty much every color that a Poodle comes in — and weirdly more besides. Unlike with Poodles, pedigree standards do not govern the breeding of Doodles. So, we are starting to see an array of mixes and patterns, many of which we have detailed below. Their coloring is typically the result of a mutation in the gene that would otherwise produce a black coat. However, they are generally a darker, more steely shade, and their coat can have both darker and lighter patches. This color is super rare, being recessive. It takes multiple generations of Goldendoodle breeding to achieve. Like gray Doods, blues are born dark and fade out across the first two years of their lives. Their coats may even continue to clear as they age, but a select few will remain truly blue. Again this color is tricky to predict. You never really know what you are going to get when you adopt a black Goldie. Silver Goldendoodles A lighter version of blue or gray Goldies, silvers are also born a much darker color and just keep on fading. You might see signs that a pup will be silver from somewhere around six to ten weeks, where you can start to spot lighter roots. You will likely also find white or silver hairs between their toes. The shift from black to silver is probably the most dramatic of any of the Doodle coat changes. Your pup will look like an entirely different dog when it is done. For this reason silvers are often mistaken for grays early on in life. Silver Beige Goldendoodles Unlike regular silvers, silver beige Goldendoodles are born dark brown. However, just like regular silvers, they lighten as they age. The lighter the final color, the earlier the puppy will start clearing — anywhere between six to twelve weeks. Silver beiges can sometimes be mistaken for sables as they start to fade. The combination of colors in their coat gives this effect. Tan Goldendoodles Tan Goldies get their coloring from their Retriever parent. Just as with apricot and cream dogs, tan occurs because of a dilution in the red pigment pheomelanin. Although from a distance, they do appear a single uniform shade. Unlike cream, white is not the result of fading, so white puppies will actually be born white and retain this color all through their lives. Please go to our Welsh Dogs database Page 1 Page 2 Lucky - Barry This lovely young girl is Lucky, We named her this as she is Lucky GSDR stepped in to help her, she is approximately 8 months old, is fully vaccinated, entire young bitch, she is a lovely Sable coloured short coated girl, very loving, lives with other dogs at present in her foster home, do not like cats, don't know about other small furries as not tested, she do however have a seperation issue which is caused by her up bringing but will be over come with an experienced GSD owner, she would benefit from one to one training due to her seperation issue, this is the only issue she has and once this is over come she will be a great girl. Lucky will give per cent back in love and with a little patience will be a great addition to your home. She is currently in Foster in Barry South Wales. Petra Petra is 5 and unspayed. She has never lived with children but was fine with young children she met out. Petra does not like little dogs or cats, and she will stand up for herself with larger dominating dogs. She has been living with a male GSD and her two 5 month daughters. Friendly with people who are friendly to her. Her recall is good as long as she is not distracted. Petra does have a joint problem on her right rear leg and will struggle if walked more than about 4 miles in a day. Poor Petra has had a horrible start in life. The owner used to beat his wife and no doubt at some stag Petra too. She is very nervous of lighters and matches! She will need confident and understanding owners. Last owner had rehoming as mobility issues walking all of the dogs! Petra has been moved to kennels to keep her safe from this monster, who we believe also beat her. Yetti This lad is Yetti, he came to us with his sister Duchess but it was felt it was better to seperate them so she is also up for rehoming, he is 4 yrs old and a big boy, he is black and tan short coated, he is not up to date with his vaccinations but is nuetured, he will need an experienced gsd owner as he has been shown no bounderies, although he is much better since being in our care, he loves to play ball, is strong on a lead but again getting better, his recall has improved also, he is house trained and with training would make a loving pet, we will not home him with children due to his size but he is very good with other dogs and has in the past lived with cats. Ruby's owners have had her since 8 weeks of age and is only rehoming due to a relationship break up and her present owner working away through the week. She has an undershot lower jaw but eats well and picks up her balls, toys with no problems. She has no food, bed or toy aggression.
