For two weeks after the fluffy arrivals Si and I share sleeping next to the mother dog and puppies. We find we have enough sleep for ourselves by doing this shiftwork for the first 14 days and it means no puppy is unsupported. Our young adult, teenager and preschool sons also spend cuddle time with the puppies so your furbaby gets lots of learning time with men, children and their friends at the age appropriate time for your puppy. We develop a close bond with each fluffy puppy from the moment they are birthed and I assist with the delivery. Birth support means that each puppy feeds straight after being born to give them the necessary colostrum for health. Immediate feeding helps reduce stress hormones in your puppy. A human trust bond give them an attached confidence which is a caring start to life. Breeding one litter of newborns at a time with due dates far enough apart that none of the female dogs have pressure of the early neurological stimulation being overlooked. This helps them feel safe in a den environment. I follow with closed crate training from 5 weeks old with some of their siblings. At 7 weeks they learn to have short periods of time in their crate without their littermates and practise this until they go to you at 8 weeks old. Voice marker training and Click training begins when your puppy is six weeks old. Your puppy learns to sit, touch and recall. We share the same words suggested to you to use so that puppy is familiar with the force free praise that encourages them to want to obey. Prior to your puppy leaving Bellawai you will have emailed to you 3 training videos to help with the basic training of your puppy using force free techniques. These videos are of our stud dog Vincent as a puppy and present with some of our puppies from a previous litter. All animals are also treated topically for fleas and ticks, but please keep in mind that it can take up to three weeks to take care of any issues that may be present. In the case of puppies, we may not have been able to treat them due to age. We do our best to prevent the spread of fleas and ticks. Also, in the case of puppies, most under the age of 6 months are likely to have parasites, despite being dewormed. It takes regular deworming to eliminate parasites, so the adopter should plan on getting a fecal test done shortly after adoption to see if there are lasting parasites. As for older dogs, they are required to have a fecal test before transport, but they may need another round of testing and dewormer as well, depending on the life cycle of the eggs, as the test only detects active parasites, so it may take another dose to dispel them all. It is the responsibility of the adopter to provide this care and respective treatment if necessary. The State of Maine requires that all animals being imported into the state be quarantined for the following periods before they can be formally adopted: Animals 6 months and older 48 hours, under 6 months must be quarantined for 5 days. Once the quarantine period has passed, as long as there has been no sign of any issues, then the adoption can proceed. The final paperwork showing transfer of ownership will be sent to the adoptive family generally within two weeks after final adoption. In the case of puppies that need to be neutered or spayed, if the dog requires boosters or there is a time sensitive issue the paperwork will be sent to the adopters beforehand, otherwise it will be sent within two weeks after the procedure has been completed. The records are emailed directly to the address on file. Hard copies are only sent upon request. They are usually sent within two weeks but may take up to that amount of time. If you are adopting an animal that has not yet been altered, you will also be required to bring the animal to the Gray Animal Center at 55 Portland Rd in Gray ME at the date and time you are given by the rescue. Blessed Be the Bullies determines when the animals will be altered according to information provided by our veterinarian. If the adopter does not abide by this policy and does not bring the animal to GAC at the time set, we reserve the right to take possession of the animal with no return of funds paid. Should it be necessary for the rescue to regain possession of the animal, the adopter will be liable for any expenses incurred by these actions, included but not limited to fuel costs, boarding fees, or any civil or legal fees that may be created by such actions. We do not pay for an animal to be microchipped anywhere else. Animals need adequate time to adjust to new living situations, and behaviors can change from day to day. Payment is due in full before the animal will be released to the adopter. Electronic payments must be made at least 24 hours before pick up, cash may be paid the same day. Please read below for details on payment policies, as depending on the situation, different policies may prevail. For dogs that are located in state already, the balance of the adoption fee must be paid before pickup. PIck up is generally scheduled within 24 hours of commitment. The deposit will be applied to the total for the animal adopted. For dogs that are located out of state, the balance of the adoption fee must be paid before pickup, however the adopter may wait until transport has been arranged. We try to have this done asap, but must coordinate with our transport companies, so this timing is out of our control. If the adopter decides not to proceed with the adoption, the deposit is non refundable. Depending on the situation, it may be applied to a different animal. The return of the adoption fee may take up to two weeks to process. It will be returned in the same way in which it was paid. Should the animal be injured in any way, the entire adoption fee is forfeit, and depending on the level of injury the adopter may be liable for vet costs incurred. If within 7 days after the date the adopter takes possession of the animal, if it is decided that the animal is not a good fit, the adopter MUST contact the rescue to make arrangements to surrender their animal. Do NOT drop off an animal unannounced please. The rescue must be given adequate time to find a place for the animal to be transferred to. If the return occurs after 7 days, there will be no refunds issued. Blessed Be the Bullies retains the right to determine whether the adopter will be allowed to transfer funds to another animal. Should the adopter and the rescue feel that the animal needs more time to adjust, the 7-day policy may be extended. This is at the sole discretion of the rescue. The availability of an animal is not guaranteed, we often have many applications for the same animal, and timing can depend on how quickly the application might be approved. We do our best to update our website as soon as animals are adopted, however, the presence of an animal on the website does not guarantee adoption. Please contact the rescue with any questions about a specific animal. Processing time for an application depends on how quickly responses from references are received. We do our best to get quick results but suggest that references are notified to expect contact. No animal will be released to anyone outside of our organization until all references have been checked and the applicants have been approved, and the full adoption fee has been received. We do not offer a payment plan. We accept PayPal or cash. We do not accept checks. Other than cash, all payments must be made in full, and the final contract must be filled out and submitted before the animal will be released to the adopter. Please note, even if an applicant has been approved, this does NOT guarantee adoption. We try our best to communicate clearly when animals will be available for pick-up, but we must work within the schedule of the transport companies and the quarantine periods. This is out of our control. Please keep in mind these animals have already been through so much, the best thing for them is to just be able to go straight home! If it is determined that the decompression policy available at all times on the website was not followed, or that the animal needs veterinary attention there will be NO refund of any kind given. After 7 seven days there will be no refunds given no matter the circumstances. Since we are primarily a bully breed rescue, there is a good chance they may have some of that breed. We supply the information we are given at the time the animals are listed on Facebook, our website and other animal adoption sites, however it should be noted that this information is purely an estimate. This also applies to the ages of most animals. If there are questions, please contact the rescue before applying! At any time during the lifetime of the animal the adopter decides that they cannot keep their pet, they must consult with the rescue before taking the animal to a shelter, giving the animal away or having the animal euthanized. This rescue makes a commitment to every animal they adopt out that they will be safe in an approved situation. We understand that situations arrive that may be out of the adopters control, and we will do our best to help with any issues if we are able to. If the adopter has someone else willing to take the animal, the new potential adopters need to go through our application process first before the dog is released into anyone elses care. Contact Us Labradoodle Colors Australian Labradoodle coat colors colours come in a wide variety of options. Below is a listing of the different coat colors, coloring descriptions and what to expect with their coats throughout their lifetime. Caramel Caramel colored dogs have liver noses brown. Their range of coat color can vary between light yellow to almost red in hue. The difference in a caramel dog and a chalk, cream, apricot and red dog is their nose color. Chocolate True chocolates are brown in color. Many chocolates do fade over time. Cream This color comes in a wide variety of shades but it should be creamy in appearance. The nose pigment is black. The pigment for the nose is black. Parchment This color is a creamy beige chocolate color. It has been described as a cup of coffee with a generous addition of milk. These dogs are born milk chocolate and will develop their parchment coloring over time. The nose pigment is rose. Red True reds should be rich and dark in color and the roots should be no lighter. Sadly, this coat color tends to fade over time. The nose color is to be black. This color develops over the first years. Nose pigment should be rose. Chalk This color is a white looking color. However, if you were to compare it to a true white, it would appear to be more chalk-white in color. Nose pigment is black. Black Black Labradoodles should be solid in color with no sprinklings of other colors throughout the coat. Their pigment color should be black. Silver These pups would start out black and their silver coloring develops over the first few years of their lives. The color range can be anywhere from a light pewter to a dark charcoal. Silver dogs need to have black pigmentation. The blue coat will develop over the first few years. The color should be solid once they are full grown. It should be a dark-medium smoky blue. Lavender This color has a smoky lavender chocolate coloring that almost gives off a pink to lilac appearance. These pups are born chocolate and will come into their beautiful lavender coats over the first few years. Their pigmentation should be rose in color. Parti These dogs need to be at least fifty percent white, with spots or patches of any other above solid color. Full or partial saddles are acceptable, but are not preferred. Ticking in the white of the coat is acceptable but not preferred. The nose pigment needs to match the solid color. Any combination of acceptable colors is allowed. Nose pigment should follow requirements listed above based on the solid base color. It can fade into at least three distinct, official Labradoodle colors! Go figure!! I have had one of my chocolate girls turn completely Lavender on her body but not the head, then within a year, go completely back to dark chocolate. So, like a good Boy Scout, when you purchase a chocolate Labradoodle, be prepared for anything! All are lovely, but they are almost impossible to predict with any significant degree of accuracy. Once again, be prepared for anything! Chocolate Colors Now we get to the fun part; the color combinations! This is where things get interesting. Partis can come in any color, with either color nose. Some are mostly white, while some have lots of color and less white. The ones that are mostly white are called "Extreme" Partis. The variations are endless and unique, like a snowflake. The colors, such as chocolate, on a parti can change in the same ways that they would on a solid dog. Often confused with "Parti" is a dog with heavy white mismarks or a Tuxedo. White mismarks can be very small or very heavy, or anywhere in-between. The puppy is born either Black or Chocolate and immediately begins to lose the dark color, revealing anything from a cream to a red underneath! The tips of the fur may retain their dark cast, but the dog will present as somewhere on the cream-red spectrum. I have included her picture below showing her in the middle of the changing process. If your preferred color is caramel, can you choose between solid or markings and dark or light? You may have heard that Labradoodle puppies have dark coats that fade as they grow older. Is this true for caramel Labradoodle puppies too? What is a Caramel Labradoodle? One of the many charms of the Labradoodle is its soft, wavy coat. Almost anything goes when it comes to Labradoodle coat color, but some are more common than others, like caramel. Caramel is a popular Labradoodle coat color that refers to the color of caramel candy. Of course, not all caramels look the same. Some are dark and some are light. The same is true of caramel Labradoodles! Labradoodle breeders and breed experts report that caramel Doodles have brown nose leather and coat shades that range from very light to very dark. A Labradoodle described as caramel may very well be the traditional golden brown, but you may also see dogs described as ice, cream, or red caramel. The caramel color group is distinct from other Labradoodle color groups like chocolate and apricot, even though variations in shade can make them look somewhat similar. Labradoodles can also be partially caramel in color. Most Labrador fans know that there are 3 official coat colors for the breed. A Lab can be solid yellow, black, or chocolate. The breed standard allows for some variation in shade in yellow and chocolate Labs. Chocolate Labs can be light or dark brown. Parti-colored Poodles do exist, but they fall outside the official breed standard. Caramel Labradoodle Coat Color Genetics As you can imagine, the variety of parent breed coat color combinations can lead to all sorts of colors in the Labradoodle. A breeder can specialize in a particular type of Labradoodle coat color, like caramel, by selectively breeding dogs with that desired coat color. Coat color genetics can be complicated, but the basic principle is that 2 primary pigments black and red make up all dog coat colors. There are 8 different genes that determine all the aspects of canine coat color and pattern…from caramel Labradoodles to spotted Dalmatians to black and tan German Shepherds.
