Vets tend to charge a lot on this so I prefer to buy online. Frontline is also fine. I use a De-matting comb if the hair is matted up, a Slicker brush when its not, and a finishing comb. Food and Water dishes, or a water bottle to hang in the crate door. Brushes are great for surface brushing Doodles but you really need a good comb for getting the mats out and getting all the way down to the root of the hair. I love the Carlson Gates with the handles, I do not recommend the cheap accordion style wooden ones. Puppy Bed and Blankets, if puppy is peeing on their bed or blankets then replace them with a Stuffed Animals to cuddle Whelping Pads. Your puppy has been trained from birth using these so if you absolutely can not let them outside, I think these work better then the disposal potty pads they chew and drag around. Dewormer — I recommend using Safeguard dewormer, an over the counter dewormer that kills all 4 types of intestinal worms and also treats giardia which is a very common parasite transmitted via infected feces in water or soil and the 1 cause of diarrhea in young puppies. Dreamydoodles puppies are dewormed 4x before they go home and should be wormed again at home with Safe-guard at 12 wks and then every 6 months. Feed you puppy the same food at the same time every day. Puppies should be fed times a day on a strict set schedule. Growing too rabidly can cause hip, joint problems. Appetite changes. Do not worry too much just continue your feeding routine and pull up leftovers after mins and try again their next scheduled mealtime. Puppies should be drinking even when stressed. Let sleeping puppies lie. Growing Puppies need lots of sleep, so if your puppy is sleeping, just let them sleep. My husband John and I met at Petland after high school - he worked in reptiles, and I was the puppy girl. At the time, I was going to vet tech school I struggled with the organic chemistry and it ended up not being my path - but at least it led me here! To this day, our mutual love for animals drives our passion at Enchanted Retrievers. At 18 years old, I begged my parents for my first Golden Retriever, Darby. He was with me through thick and thin - through some of the most crazy years of my life. Dogs have always been central to our lives. I began breeding American Golden Retrievers in the late s. Because of this, we only had a few litters at first, before taking an extended break while our two girls and our male lived out the rest of their lives. After they had all passed away, we made the shift to European Golden Retrievers in .Our first was Belle! When it comes to breeding, our primary focus is to think through how to build a better puppy. I am always someone who feels the need to be prepared and to know what to expect. Because of this, continued education is so important to me and informs my breeding, raising, and training practices. Our knowledge of American Goldens set the baseline, and as my journey progressed, I started doing more research, building relationships with other breeders, and attending shows and competitions. Eventually, I found someone to give me confirmation lessons - and at my first show, I won Best of Breed with my Bell! From there on, I was hooked. I learned how to properly groom my dogs, we started dock diving, hiking, travelling… they became my empty nest therapy dogs. Soon after, we added Ella , and later on, Tallahassee. Our program draws from my extensive education in the science behind dog breeding, raising, and training. I have completed breeder excellence seminars at UC Davis where I learned about the physical science behind breeding, the science of whelping puppies, and saw the Seeing Eye Dog Organizer speak. For the early development and emotional side of raising puppies, I have also studied programs such as Avi Dog, Puppy Culture, and Dr. Ultimately, however, our program focuses first-and-foremost on putting stable puppies into family homes. One of the most important things to us is that our dogs are our babies too. We never re-home them - it would be like giving up one of our children. For both our girls and our stud dogs, the life of the dog is always at the forefront of our consideration. We believe that happy, well-adjusted dogs make happier, healthier puppies. Throughout this journey, the best thing about it has been the friends we have made, and the families that we have met. We have been able to build such amazing relationships. So when I had finally saved enough money and was ready, I was so excited to finally pick him out. The day I went to pick him out, I noticed him instantly. He was much smaller than his siblings because he was the runt of the litter, but he was so calm and sweet. I just knew he was my dog. At that time, he was too young for me to take home because he was only a few weeks old. It was a really sweet and proud moment for me. When I got a dog at 19, I was way too young to fully comprehend the gravity of responsibility of which I was taking on. I missed out on things in life, such as places to live or trips or staying out late as the rest of my friends were some nights because I had to go home to feed him or take him out. But he has always been there. We got through it together, and we counted on each other. Lucky has just been the greatest gift from the universe. I feel very lucky to have him. No pun intended.
