Tyson has overcome a few different medical challenges, and we are delighted to share his story and some of his sweet pictures in our blog today. Originally when met the litter of five Boxer puppies, we wanted a brindle-colored pup, but in this litter, all the brindles were female. As we played with the puppies, Adam picked up the only male and fell in love. Adam handed me the pup and he instantly nibbled my nose. We both knew in that moment that we had found our puppy! He has changed us and made us more responsible. Tyson turned Adam into a softy. He had claimed to be the tough one until Tyson came into our lives. Their family veterinarian diagnosed him with heart failure, and Tyson was treated by Veterinary Internists Dr. Dan Hume and Dr. Victoria Ochoa. With this condition he has a good prognosis; Adam and Kylie have been told that he will live into early adulthood. Just as they were getting settled with Tyson at home, he suffered an injury after jumping out of a car that was traveling twenty-five miles per hour. This time, it was a broken leg. Tyson visited our animal hospital several times for bandage changes and progress reports on his healing. We were always glad to see his sweet little face in the lobby and give him some extra love. Tyson has since healed from this unexpected injury. He continues to grow, learn new things, amaze and adore his people. There is nothing like seeing them happy and playful. He had a very restless night and had to be sedated. This morning, he started out a little slow and grumpy, but got better throughout the day. Staff spent a lot of extra time with him and let him play outside. I spent about 30 minutes with him this afternoon. He moved around the yard, but he kept looking around. I think I know why. He and Belle always went outside together! He will get lots of extra love and attention. He is ready to leave the vet clinic and move into his foster home. He has been at our house for almost two weeks. He is incredibly docile and calm. He is house trained and well behaved. He gets along well with our children and walks well on the leash. He does, however, have some significant separation anxiety. He is a delightful pup, but he does not like to be in a crate or left alone. With the help of Heather, Dr. Larsen and Janell, we have made some changes to try and help this poor guy out. He also has some meds to help calm him down so his anxiety is not so bad while we are away. We are slowly seeing some improvements. He enjoys sleeping on his big comfy bed in front of the warm fireplace! How can anyone not love that sweet face?!? I do have some anxiety issues that my foster parents are helping me through. I did great on Christmas morning with all the chaos, as you can see in the picture of me sleeping in the wrapping paper. My humans had family members over to visit and I mostly behaved myself. Bacon is delicious, can you blame me?!? I will need a family who is willing to be patient with me and help me learn the rules of being a good Bulldog. My favorite spot is right in front of the fireplace, where I can snuggle up, snore and sleep. I did have an interesting encounter while on a walk this week. We originally bred mini F1B Goldendoodles, but both of our Goldendoodle girls are now retired. She is an intelligent, playful, obedient people centred dog. She loves running around the fields or chilling by the fire in the winter. Her greatest enjoyment is always cuddles time! Maggie Mae will be bred with a health tested stud miniature poodle. So her puppies will be medium sized dogs. We, well mostly Cathryn, love the whole process of breeding and rearing the puppies. The puppy cuddling, the weaning and meeting exited new puppy owner but less so the puppy poop! We have a lady called Fiona who lives in our village and helps us out with looking after the pups. Cathryn has a team of puppy cuddling friends who love it as much as she does. We play the litter a cd of sounds including traffic and fireworks. We are fortunate to live in rural north Warwickshire and to have a house big enough to be able to deliver and rear the puppies within our home in a room off of the kitchen, which is warm and dry. From there, when the puppies are a bit older, we can take them out to a safe enclosed yard where they are fed and can play. Then comes the fun of herding them all back in again! We have a maximum of one litter a year and our dogs and stud dogs have all of the relevant heath testing before mating. The puppies go to their new homes having been vet checked vet and microchipped. They are a highly recommended family dog breed and are tremendous with children due to carrying the genes of the affectionate, loving Bernese mountain dog. While intelligence simplifies training in the mini bernedoodle it can work in a negative sense as well. If training is neglected you may see bad habits develop earlier than in breeds that may not be known to be as intelligent. Therefore it is highly recommended to start training at an early age and be consistent in training exercises. Health Health is possibly the greatest attribute in the F1 mini bernedoodle. Being a smaller size hybrid cross they are the least likely to inherit congenital health problems, with the likelihood of hip or elbow dysplasia being greatly reduced due to the much smaller size. Exercise The miniature bernedoodle requires a moderate amount of exercise. Daily exercise is generally sufficient.
