X ray showed no object blocking his air way. Their breeding bulldogs should be seen as members of the family, not kept apart from the family. They will ask you to sign a contract that requires spay or neuter if the dog is not show quality. They will give a 1 year minimum health guarantee for congenital defects. The mother and the father will be registered in AKC or CKC or equivalent, and the litter of puppies will also be registered. They will give you the name of their vet and permit you to call them and you should. They should ask you questions about your family and your home, especially whether you own or rent, if your landlord allows pets, if you have air conditioning, if you have time to spend with the dog they are family dogs, not outside dogs, and do not do well without human contact , and if you have money for future health issues like cherry eye, skin allergies, elongated palate surgery, torn ACL, etc. Not all dogs have these, but there is a pretty good chance your dog may have at least 1 ailment that affects bulldogs specifically. My breeder also gave me a list of bulldog maintenance items to have, baby wipes everyday , chlorhexidine, ear drops, benedryl, canned pumpkin, baby shampoo, a dog crate, stainless steel food and water bowls. They are gorgeous and loving creatures but they are like a baby that we don't leave alone. They usually eat high quality dog food, my lola is on raw food, which really helps with skin allergies and overall health. And, Jonathan actually arrived early here in Auburn Maine! And the demand is very helpful for Amish families, trying to sustain their family, their farm and their faithful way of life. Isaac and Esther said they are glad to see the awareness of puppy animal welfare growing in the area. A non-profit group called PAWS includes a large group of Amish men who work with animal welfare advocates to educate people about the law as well as how to have decent care for dogs. Isaac and Esther gave us a tour of their farm, including the workshop where Isaac and his children fashion beautiful, hardwood furniture with clean lines and, sometimes, a distressed farmhouse look. They showed us the barn where they keep their horse and buggy. Dogs at the Amish farm had access to the outdoors, heated and cooled kennels and lots of exercise and fresh air. And they showed us their dog kennel with half a dozen Siberian Huskies on one side and half a dozen small dogs like Cocker Spaniels and Shih Tzus on the other side. Each dog had its own fenced in area and the ability to run through a pet door to an outside area. The dogs seemed happy, healthy and energetic. They barked and ran excitedly when seeing my children. I was glad to see the dogs also ran on safe, flat floors rather than on raised chicken wire platforms like animal rights videos showed of puppy mills. Our conversation was interrupted momentarily by my 5-year-old daughter running up and making an important announcement. And, in that moment, I realized the Amish were prescient and inoculated from the plague of big technology companies that has wrought an explosion of addictive algorithms and legions of substandard of content. She suggested I could perhaps fax them a copy. Such a practice would limit the integrity and independence of the author. So I respected their wishes as well. I felt my life was enriched from my trip to Lancaster County and my time with them. I hope my family can visit again before long to see more of the landscape, culture and food. Even though the puppy was just bathed, he still stunk. It was basically just written on a piece of paper by them. We got a receipt and later on a room at the Holiday Inn with the puppy who pooped out worms immediately. We drove home the next day and about 2 days later our puppy was very ill with a very heavy case of Giardia Coccidia and hook worms. There are lots of breeders on this site but definitely avoid the Amish. They're never available on sundays never so hint hint. Never again.
