Although the Poodle is the national dog of France, they actually originated in Germany over years ago where they were commonly used as a duck hunter. Their curly coat protected them from the elements and they were bred for their excellent swimming skills, high intelligence, and incredible retrieval skills. The Poodle comes in three sizes — Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Throughout history, this dog breed has served many purposes. From living in the lap of luxury as companions to nobility to working out in the field as a valuable hunting companion to entertaining people in circuses around the world, the Poodle is right at home. Poodles are known for their intelligence, cheerful disposition, and sensitive nature. They are versatile dogs that make great family companions. They tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Due to their sensitive nature, they tend to be a better fit for older children who understand how to approach and interact with a dog appropriately. These dogs prefer peace and harmony in the household, so very young children that are too loud or rough can stress them out. The Standard Poodle also tends to be quite energetic until they are about two years old and may be prone to knock over small children in their excitement. Standard Poodles also tend to make great watchdogs and have some protective instincts. Without proper socialization, they can become skittish, nervous, and wary of strangers. Poodle coats are curly or corded and come in a wide variety of colors. Although Poodles are known for their low-shedding, hypoallergenic coats, their coats still require a lot of maintenance. Keeping your Poodle in a short clip can help reduce daily maintenance, but still requires regular professional grooming every four to six weeks to maintain it. Black Lab Puppies Health Considerations Though generally very healthy and long-lived — with an average lifespan of around 10 to 12 years — our Black Labs for sale are not without their unique health concerns. Like every breed of dog, there are a few conditions you should be aware of before you consider purchasing one of our Black Lab puppies for sale. Understanding the risks allows you to know the signs and prevent small health concerns from turning into big ones. Hip and elbow dysplasia are both hereditary conditions that can cause joint pain and mobility issues. Allergies are relatively common in dogs, and Black Labs are no exception. Symptoms can include itchiness, redness, and hair loss. Exercise-induced collapse is a relatively rare condition that can be triggered by strenuous activity. Black Labrador Retrievers, or just Black Labs, are a common coat color variation of one of the most popular dog breeds. The Black Labrador Retriever is not necessarily a separate dog breed. Black Labs are still Labrador Retrievers; they just have a distinct coat color that is a specifically-bred characteristic. Like other Labrador Retrievers, Black Labs are energetic, playful, and affectionate dogs that make great family companions. Although they are active and energetic dogs, Labs are also known for their gentleness and patience with other family members. Well-socialized Black Labs tend to get along well with just about everyone including children, other dogs, pets, and even strangers. They are considered one of the kid-friendly dog breeds. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , Black Labs thrive on attention, especially from their favorite humans. They are happiest when they are spending time with their families and receiving affection and attention from them. Despite their high energy, Labs are highly adaptable dogs. They do tend to be better suited to homes with fenced yards where they can run, but they also adapt well to apartments provided they get enough daily exercise, attention, and mental stimulation. They do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat and extreme cold like many dog breeds. As such, they do not like to spend long periods of time alone. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Black Labrador Retriever can include elbow dysplasia , hip dysplasia, heart disease, hereditary myopathy, cataracts, and progressive retinal atrophy. Another potential health concern is EIC exercise-induced collapse , which can occur in young adult Labs and has a genetic link. Because carriers can be identified by DNA tests, it is recommended that breeders test for them. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies and reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you talk to the breeder about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a large, deep-chested dog breed, Labrador Retrievers are at a higher risk for bloat. Labrador Retrievers are one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. Although their high energy and puppylike exuberance can sometimes be a challenge, they are intelligent dogs that are eager to please. As long as training is kept consistent and focused on positive rewards and praise, novice owners still tend to do well with Black Labs. Puppy training classes are always an option and offer plenty of benefits aside from training too. Black Labs have a short, water-resistant double coat that sheds year-round and sheds heavier as seasons change. Depending on how active your Black Lab is and what they get into, they may need a bath more often, especially if they are swimming a lot. Weekly ear checks and careful cleanings when needed help prevent ear infections. Good dental care for dogs , like daily brushing and cleanings at the vet when needed, can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. As one of the most active dog breeds , a Black Labrador Retriever will need a lot of daily activity to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus some playtime and time to run are a minimum. Your Black Lab will likely be up for more activity if you are. One of the facts about Labrador Retrievers is that they have an extended puppyhood. They tend to maintain a puppylike exuberance until they are years old. Although they do tend to mellow out as they get older, they are still active, energetic, and playful dogs. Once they are fully grown, you can try other things like hiking, running, dock diving, and more to find other activities you and your Black Lab can enjoy together. Fully-grown Black Labrador Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Black Labs generally live for years on average. Black Labrador Retrievers came before the also-popular Chocolate Lab. Contessa Rose Da Serra. As my website states, I am not like other breeders in many ways. First, I want to explain how the average Labrador breeder raises their pups the first few weeks of their life. They expect these tiny pups without their senses fully developed to find their way to a nipple without being smothered. I understand that this is what dogs do in the wild, but this is also why many puppies die in the wild. .Then, on top of that they hope that each of the pups will get enough milk on it's own to make it through the 1st week of life. They expect the Lab mom to do all the work, so they don't have to lose a wink of sleep. This is all very sad to say but it's true. I, on the other hand, care about each individual pup's life, I care that each and every one of them survive so that they can live a full and happy life. So, I make sure that each individual pup is given outstanding care. How do I do this? I began with hand raising each one of my pups the first 3 weeks of its life. What do I mean by hand raise my pup? It means I personally make sure each individual pup is fed every 2 hours- 24 hours a day, the first 2 weeks of its life. At feeding time, I make sure each puppy gets on a nipple so they don't have to struggle to find one. I make sure that each puppy gets an adequate amount of milk. Then, once I see that they have been well fed. I pick up one pup at a time and have the mom lick it to go potty. And then I put them in their little crib to ensure they are safe and not smooth by the mother until the next feeding 2 hours later. At three weeks, we feed the pups every 4 hours. But at this point, even though the pups eyes and ears are open. I still supervise the feeding to ensure that each pup is adequately fed and again not smothered by it's mother. I believe in giving these pups outstanding care. Even if that means that I lose a lot of sleep, and even if it ends up just saving one pups life. That one pup could be the next Labrador that I get a testimony about how it brought so much joy into one person's life! So, in the end, all the work and lack of sleep is worth it. I am up now about to give my pups their 3 am feeding. Hope this helps you all understand what is put into each litter. She is from our breeding between Cash and Bella, both parents are health certified. Sugar is overnight crate trained and has some other training. She has the sweetest disposition; we absolutely love her! However, we have had a family emergency that has come up that may cause us to have to put Sugar up for sale. If you would be interested in Sugar, please email us and let us know about yourself, and the lifestyle that you would be able to give Sugar. We will be reviewing potential families who would be interested in Sugar and pick the best family for her, and make a decision later this month. They are given constant positive attention their whole time with us. We have a big game room that we call the "Labby Room" This room is designated for our labs and their lab puppies. The puppies get a lot of interaction with all our kids in this room. They also become well adjusted to all the sounds of the home life, like the sound of a vacuum. When the pups are born, I will contact you and inform you on how many pups were born. We will post up pictures of each litter soon after they are born. And try to post weekly picture updates so you can watch the puppies grow. We will also post video on our face book page. When the pups are 6 to 7 weeks of age, I will contact you to set up an appointment for you choose and pick up your pup at 8 weeks of age. If you had first deposit in for a male pup you will have first choice of all the males available. If you have second deposit in, you will have the next appointment to choose from the males that are left and so forth. This order of reserving pups would also apply to the females as well. We honor all reservations on a puppy by not selling the puppy to anyone else. So if you are interested in a litter and don't want to make a reservation until "you see the litter". An appointment can be made to view the left-over puppies when they are 10 weeks old, and no sooner. No appointments will be allowed at a younger age, except for the families that made a prior reservation. We will not allow our baby puppies to be exposed to potential life threatening viruses from people that are just "shopping". We wait until all puppies that have been reserved are safely home, before we show any left-over puppies. Any left-over pups will be at least 10 weeks of age before any viewings are allowed, to insure they have at least had 2 sets of shots in. The only other accommodation that we can offer is a zoom call, so you can see the pups before you make a reservation. Most of our sweet puppies are sold before they are even born. Boxmatian Highlights The Boxmatian is a mixed breed dog. They are not purebreds like their Boxer or Dalmatian parents. In general, the Boxmatian is a dog that prefers to be in warmer rather than colder climates. The Boxmatian is a dog with exceptionally high energy and exercise needs. If you cannot commit to a bare minumum of one hour of exercise every single day, you risk bringing on weight issues. This mixed breed is very active. Boxmatian History Best guesses suggest that the Boxmatian originated somewhere in Europe; although, exact information about the history of this mixed breed is scarce. If we focus on the parent breeds, the Boxer breed began as both a working farm dog and fighting dog back in the 19th century. It also evolved into a role as a guard dog. Their fighting tendencies have since been bred out of them, and they now make wonderful, loving companions for any family. The Boxmatian has become known as a designer dog breed, but many of them unfortunately end up in shelters. Boxmatian Size The Boxmatian is a large dog. As is always the case with newer mixed dog breeds, exact size standards might vary. Most weigh in at 50 to 90 pounds and range in height from 19 to 25 inches. Boxmatian Personality First up, the Boxmatian is one of the most energetic dogs around. Always try and challenge the dog to think during outdoors games and play sessions. Boxmatian Health Boxmatians are generally considered to be healthy dogs; although, the breed can be predisposed to some of the same conditions that the Boxer and Dalmatian face. Your vet can help you develop a care routine that will keep your dog healthy. Even standard walks with a Boxmatian should include breaks for games of fetch. Bathing is recommended every couple of months. Check their ears for debris or pests, especially after outdoor play sessions. Clean them as recommended by your vet. Boxmatian Feeding An ideal Boxmatian diet should be formulated for a large dog with high energy. Daily brushings will help cut down on shedding issues—ask your vet for a breed appropriate type of brush. Boundaries need to be set and interactions should be supervised, especially during the early stages. Ultimately, early socialization really pays off with this breed. Make sure to reward your Boxmatian for good behavior and adhere to a proper training regime when adding the dog to your family. Boxmatian Rescue Groups It may be hard to find a breed-specific rescue for Boxmatians because they are a mixed breed. However, you may want to try Boxer or Dalmatian breed-specific rescues, as they often care for mixes, as well. Here are some rescues you can try:. Lifespan Sociability There are a few things that you should know about Boxmatians before deciding whether to bring one home to your family. For instance, these dogs need at least an hour of vigorous exercise every day to stay fit and happy. Training and early socialization should be at the top of your to-do list when you bring home a Boxmatian puppy. The sooner you can train them and get them to know other pets, the better. These energetic dogs will require plenty of mental and physical stimulation to avoid boredom. The Boxmatian is best suited for active families who can dedicate enough time to these loving dogs. They Have Various Names While the Boxmatian is a widely accepted name for this hybrid dog breed, they get referred to as various names by breeders and owners throughout the world. Some simply call them Dalmatian mixes, while others have different names for them, including Dalmoxers and Boxermations. While some believe that they were invented in the United States, others think that they originated in Europe. No matter where they originated from, the Boxmatian is certainly not as old as their parent breeds. They Can Be Aggressive Boxmatians are naturally affectionate, and most owners never see their aggressive side. These dogs are highly intelligent and go great when it comes to obedience and agility training. They love chasing balls, running on the beach, and spending afternoons on long hikes. This is a mixed breed that needs stimulation while spending time indoors too. The Boxmatian can be taught to distinguish between friendly strangers and those who pose a threat, making them great watchdogs. While Boxmatians can become aggressive, this problem can be avoided by engaging in regular obedience training and making socialization a priority. These dogs will spend some time snuggling up on their beds while the family watches a movie. But dog-centric activities are a must before and afterward. Are Boxmatians Good for Families? The best way to do this is to start introducing new dogs to your pooch soon after bringing them home for the first time. Any chance you get, take them to the dog park or have friends bring their dogs over for a visit. Supervise the visits and interactions so any bad behavior can be corrected. Boxmatians can also get along with other animals like cats, but they will need to be trained and socialized to do so. Things to Know When Owning a Boxmatian You still need to know about things like what and how much Boxmatians eat, how to groom them, and what kinds of health conditions they might be prone to. This can add up to a great deal of food by the end of the month! To ensure a long, happy, and healthy life, you should splurge on high-quality food that contains no fillers or artificial ingredients. Stay away from the stuff that features chicken meal, corn, and soy. Look for food full of real meat, brown rice, and supplements like flaxseed. They wake up ready for a long walk, and they spend their days trying to find activities that will keep their minds and bodies busy. You can ride a bike or skate alongside your pooch to make exercise time more challenging for the dog, and more enjoyable for you. These dogs should be given plenty of opportunities to run and play in a yard too. Failing to do so can result in the destruction of your belongings and behavior that is hard to handle, especially in social situations. In addition to obedience training, these dogs do excellent in agility settings. Look for an agility club in your area to join. Doing so will provide your pooch with the socialization and exercise they need as they grow into adults. Because of the high amount of outdoor activity that this hybrid breed should get, they may need to be bathed once a month or so to keep dirt and grime from building up on their coats. All the exercise your Boxmatian gets should keep their nails nice and trim over time, though. Minor Conditions. If they take after their Dalmatian parent, a Dalmatian Mix is likely to be a loyal, athletic, and energetic dog that loves their families. Dalmatians tend to be loving and loyal dogs that get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. They tend to be loving and affectionate with their families and more reserved around strangers. Should a Dalmatian Mix take after their Dalmatian parent, you should be able to expect a similar temperament from them. You will still want to talk to the breeder about the other parent breed so you know what other traits could be in the mix. You can also meet the mother in-person to see the temperament she has and the manners she is modeling for her puppies. They do much better in homes with yards where they can run. They are sensitive to heat and may get cold easier in the winter than breeds with a thick coat. This makes them a moderately adaptable dog breed. If the other parent breed is similar, then you should be able to expect the same level of adaptability from a Dalmatian Mix. But, you still want to talk to the breeder about them as the other parent breed could introduce other quirks that could affect adaptability. Mixed-breed dogs can sometimes inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds. However, they could inherit any combination of them or all of them from one or both parents. From the Dalmatian side, potential health concerns to be aware of in a Dalmatian Mix include kidney stones, deafness, elbow dysplasia, and hip dysplasia. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing issues on to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both of the parents. Dalmatians are highly intelligent dogs that pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. Generally, they are a good fit for dog owners of all experience levels. But, their high energy and tendency to get bored can be difficult for first-time dog owners to handle alone. Because of this, puppy training classes are recommended. They could have traits that could make a Dalmatian Mix easier or more difficult to train. You will want to be prepared for the possibility of needing training classes either way. A mixed-breed dog can inherit a coat that is similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a mix of both of them. Should they inherit the Dalmation coat, it will shed a little year-round, require weekly brushing, and need only a bath occasionally. It all depends on how quickly their nails grow. Because gum disease often leads to other health issues and is such a common problem for dogs, practicing good dental care for dogs throughout their lives is essential. A Dalmatian is a high-energy dog breed. They require daily walks plus time to run and other activities to stay happy and healthy. If the other parent is also a high-energy dog breed, then you can expect a Dalmatian Mix to be the same. Even if the other parent breed has a lower energy level, you will need to be prepared for the potential of a high-energy dog with a Dalmatian Mix. Dalmatians are usually inches tall and weigh pounds. The other parent breed could affect this, so you need to ask the breeder about them and pay close attention to which breed is the mother. A Dalmatian generally lives for years. Boxer History: The Boxer is part of the Molosser dog group, developed in Germany in the late 19th century from the now extinct Bullenbeisser, a dog of Mastiff descent, and Bulldogs brought in from Great Britain. The Bullenbeisser had been working as a hunting dog for centuries, employed in the pursuit of bear, wild boar, and deer. Its task was to seize the prey and hold it until the hunters arrived. In later years, faster dogs were favored and a smaller Bullenbeisser was bred in Brabant, in northern Belgium. It is generally accepted that the Brabanter Bullenbeisser was a direct ancestor of today's Boxer. The Club went on to publish the first Boxer breed standard in , a detailed document that has not been changed much to this day. The breed was introduced to other parts of Europe in the late 19th century and to the United States around the turn of the 20th century. During World War I, the Boxer was co-opted for military work, acting as a valuable messenger dog, pack-carrier, attack dog, and guard dog. Taken home by returning soldiers, they introduced the dog to a wider audience and soon became a favorite as a companion, a show dog, and a guard dog.

Puppy pads Create a Schedule Golden Retriever pups would do well with a schedule. Dogs live with a routine, and they are easy to train by having one. For this reason, make a schedule of the things you need to do regularly. Eventually, your pup will learn the routine events and will make itself adept at them. It will help you prepare for your pet, especially in the first few days of living together. As you allow your pet to adjust, do your best to create a stress-free environment for it. Always supervise it as it familiarizes itself with its new home. It can even grow louder as they age. Moderate Training Golden Retrievers responds well, especially to positive reinforcement. Squeaky Toys Out of all toys, your pet will love the squeaky ones. For this reason, prepare for a lot of loud squeaks every time your pet is active. Thus, in picking your pet, you may want to consider getting it from the best. Tells you any health problems A good breeder will tell you any significant health problems in any of the dogs he or she bred. Asks more questions than you A good breeder would ask for more items from you than you would for him or her. Not in a hurry to send off A good breeder is not in a hurry to send the puppies off and get your money. He or she will even show you other breeders and veterinarians caring for their dogs. Requires expectations on both sides A good breeder will create a contract that offers not only what he or she expects from you. More than that, he or she will also show what you can expect from him or her. Sends puppies properly A good breeder will never send a puppy in a compartment and without any responsible person to go with it. Works only with one or two breeds A good breeder works only with a single or a couple of species. Shows breeding experience A good breeder shows her dogs in recognized confirmation shows. The Golden Retriever has been an AKC-recognized breed since and was commonly used as a gun dog and for retrieving small game such as waterfowl, and for companionship. The Golden Retriever originated in the Scottish Highlands. The first Lord Tweedmouth, Dudley Majoribanks, is credited with developing the breed and keeping detailed records to create the ideal gun dog for the terrain. Great discipline and a gentle spirit make the Golden Retriever a perfect retrieval breed since the goal of this task is to bring the trophy back as undamaged as possible. Golden Retrievers first appeared in dog shows in at a British dog show. They also started appearing in the United States around the same time as they were brought across the Canadian border. They gained popularity with sport hunters and in general. Their popularity really took off in the s and they are consistently one of the most popular dog breeds. If you are not the sporting type, bringing a Golden Retriever into your family as a pet is just as rewarding because they are one of the most loyal and jovial breeds out there. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are the epitome of friendly and make fantastic family dogs. Golden Retrievers are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. They tend to be good with kids, other dogs, other pets, and even strangers. Goldens love attention and they bond closely with their families. They are affectionate with them, and also just about everyone else. Although they do tend to get along with everyone, they love being around their favorite humans the most. They will bark to alert you and can end up barking a lot if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. They thrive in homes with yards where they can run. They can also adapt to apartment living as long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. These dogs do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they are not at all happy about being left alone for long periods of time. Although super-friendly and attention-loving, Goldens can also be sensitive to their surroundings; make sure they feel included, but have a quiet place to go if things get too noisy or overwhelming. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Golden Retriever include progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, elbow dysplasia , and hip dysplasia. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Goldens are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. They are highly trainable dogs that pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. These traits make them a good fit for owners of all experience levels. It also helps them excel at obedience competitions. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered the command, move on to something more advanced or another activity. You can also enroll in puppy training classes for some variety in training and also some socialization. Golden Retrievers have a long double coat that will shed a little year-round and will be heavier twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a few times a week and daily brushing during seasonal shedding along with a bath as needed is usually enough for at-home care. You will want to go to the dog groomer for a professional trim a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Daily tooth brushing, along with cleanings at the vet when needed, is ideal. Golden Retrievers are one of the most active dog breeds. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep these dogs happy and healthy. But, they are high-energy dogs that will likely always be up for more activity if you are. Much like the Labrador , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They tend to start winding down a little around the age of 3 and settle into your lifestyle, but they will still be high-energy dogs that require a lot of daily activity. Goldens are known for being versatile and athletic dogs. They tend to love swimming. Once they are done growing and the vet clears them for higher-impact activities, you can try other things too. They are one of the dog breeds that make good running partners. You can also teach them how to play frisbee or play fetch. Training for dog sports is another good option. In addition to obedience, Golden Retrievers are well suited for agility, dock diving , rally, flyball, tracking, and more. Fully-grown Golden Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Golden Retrievers generally live for years on average. With their intelligence, eagerness to please, and gentle disposition, Golden Retrievers are versatile working dogs. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Goldens can be found working as emotional support dogs, certified therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, police dogs, animal actors, and more. The Bottom Line on Introducing a Puppy to a Dog in Residence Despite the fact that puppies are extremely adorable, your current dog may be wary of the new arrival. In order to ensure a smooth introduction, you need to prepare both dogs for their new environment. In doing so, you must be completely aware of the challenges you may face so that you are prepared to meet them. Previously, the resident dog of the house was the center of attention. Now, a lot of your time is going the way of the new puppy and this can hurt the feelings of your old dog. In these circumstances, you will notice the dog act jealous, upset, and even angry. Other than your attention, the addition of a puppy in the household divides the space and toys of your dog. On the other hand, puppies are energetic and tend to miss these important signs. This enrages the dog and can lead to some serious issues. Puppies are Immature Just like humans, dogs become mature with age and give up the wild-and-crazy playing style. Contrary to that, puppies are young and have a constant love for freestyle wrestling. If that is not enough to infuriate the dog, a puppy can be dirty with his teeth while playing. How to Avoid a Confrontational Introduction? Once you know the things that can go wrong, you will be in a better position to manage the situation. The following list of precautions will help you to avoid a dangerous situation. Choose a Suitable Puppy Breed While selecting a new puppy, you must keep in mind the breed of your current dog. Provide Independent Space and Things In order to avoid territorial behavior, make sure that you create unconnected space for both the dogs. Similarly, arrange separate food dishes for either one of them. Lastly, ensure that the favorite toys of your older dog always stay in his corner. Brief Initial Interaction Keeping the initial interaction short limits the chances of a mishap between your dog and puppy. Longer contact can escalate the feelings of tension and aggressiveness between both dogs. There is absolutely nothing to worry about and let them interact at their own pace. Forcing the introduction of a new puppy to a dog in residence can lead to negative results. Stay calm and comfortable to achieve the desired results. You can also use treats, during interaction breaks, to improve the mood of the dogs. Neutral Ground Selecting a neutral ground for the first meeting of your dog and the new puppy can bring some positive results. Different Approaches for Introducing a Puppy to a Dog in Residence There are a number of ways in which you can introduce the new puppy to your dog. We have explained some of the most effective ones for your convenience. Give Preference to your Older Dog Understanding the mindset of the resident dog is critical for a successful introduction. For example, you feed the older dog first and put his leash on ahead of the new puppy. You may notice your older dog growling on the puppy. It is their way of teaching the youngster some manners and the followers of this approach consider this completely natural. The best you can do is to keep an eye on them for extreme situations and let them handle the situation themselves. Knowing that it is difficult for dogs to appreciate changes, you need to make the resident dog as comfortable as possible. This will also help them to accept your new puppy as they will feel secure. Just like humans, dogs also need some free time where they are away from puppies. This allows them to refresh themselves from all the stress on their minds. It is a useful tool to ensure that your relationship with the older dog has not tampered. Puppy Should be Controlled Properly Touching the toy of another dog is the limit of bad manners. Puppies tend to do a little too much while playing with the elder dog. In such a case, you need to stop the game. It will also keep the older dog happy and satisfied. Crate training your puppy offers a lot more than just potty training. It helps in ensuring the morale of the older dog because the young one will stay in his designated space. This will also boost the tolerance of the puppy which is again a massive win for you. Clicker Training Clicker training your resident dog is another method to develop a good relationship between both your pets. In this technique, you capture a behavior and reward treats the dog for every good action. As a result, he tries to replicate the good deeds to enjoy more treats. You should use this method to ensure positive interactions between the elder dog and the new puppy. You should reward all kinds of positive behaviors, ranging from simple ignoring to playing a game. This is an excellent way of keeping the older pet in-check and it, simultaneously, builds his confidence. By taking it slow and letting the dogs get to know each other, you are more likely to have a successful introduction. How To Introduce A New Adult Dog To Your Existing Pack Oct 17, Introducing a new adult dog to your home is very exciting and with it comes the hope that this newest family member will be loved and accepted by the current dog occupant and that the adjustment will be quick and easy. While sometimes this is true, and it seems to be a match made in canine heaven, there are many introductions that cause stress and upheaval, not to mention dangerous situations between the dogs and the dog owners. Most often these situations occur when well-meaning owners mistakenly believe that the dogs will work their problems out on their own and it simply is not the case. Dog drama can quickly turn the calmest of households upside down and even trigger dog fights between the most friendly, socialized dogs. Despite how sweet and even tempered family dogs seem; they are truly powerful creatures with a strong pack mentality. This pack mentality will trigger the need to establish rank sometimes called rank drive or pack drive. Problems can arise when introducing a new adult dog to a home with one existing dog; however, the potential is even greater if there are two dogs currently in the home since three dogs make up a pack and may become more territorial. When there are more than three dogs in a pack, the weakest dog may be targeted by the stronger dogs. Since dogs will always establish ranking order, it is imperative the owner be a strong pack leader that establishes rules and guidance for the pack, or one dog will attempt to take over leadership. As soon as a new dog is added to the mix, every dog in the household will re-establish its rank as the new pack is formed. This is the critical time in which dog fights can erupt. It is up to the owner to protect their dogs from fights since once a dog has been attacked it will forever be impacted by the experience, which can result in dog aggression or fear of meeting new dogs. The good news is, not all dogs want to be the pack leader so owners can set clear boundaries that fighting is simply not tolerated and must show all the dogs that they will be protected from other dogs. When introducing a new dog to the household, the best thing you can do is use a crate. Place the new dog in the crate and allow the established dog to investigate. If the dogs growl, instantly correct and never allow the behavior to escalate to show all the dogs that aggression is never allowed. After crate introductions go well without aggression, the next step is to introduce dogs with both dogs on leashes. At the first sign of growling or aggression, the new dog goes back in the crate for more training and conditioning. By leashing the dog, you are reinforcing your role as leader. Crate training may take weeks but your first clue that the dogs are getting accustomed to each other is when they ignore each other. When the dogs ignore each other, it may be time to introduce them face to face. This should once again happen on leashes and the best way is to simply take both dogs for a walk with a separate handler for each dog. If you have any worry that they may fight, muzzle the dogs. Taking some time to study dog body language before you introduce the dogs is also very helpful so that you can ward off any aggressive triggers before they happen. What you are looking for are two relaxed dogs that feel comfortable on their walk. If there are no problems on the walk, introductions through a fence are the logical next step. Allow both dogs to greet each other through the fence but leave the leashes on should you need them. After a short greeting, take them for another walk to see how they interact with each other. Once both dogs seem comfortable on walks and through the fence greetings with no growling or any other sign of aggression, it is time to introduce them face to face. Introducing your new dog to your other dogs How to help your dogs get along, beginning with the first meeting. SHARE Handle the first meeting between dogs with care; it can set the tone for their whole relationship. Constantinis iStock. Each dog should be walked separately on a leash, and each walker should have a bag of high-value treats or food broken into small pieces. If the dogs are not showing any negative behaviors, reward them with treats just for seeing each other. Repeat often. Watch carefully for body postures that indicate a defensive or wary response, including hair standing up on the dog's back, teeth baring, growling, a stiff-legged gait or a prolonged stare. If you see such postures, either when the dogs are at a distance or near each other, immediately and calmly interrupt the interaction by interesting the dog in something else. If the dogs seem relaxed and comfortable, you can shorten the distance between them. Again, offer treats to the dogs any time they look at each other in a relaxed manner. Get Your Copy Let the dogs determine the pace of the introduction. The most important thing is to take this introduction slowly. The more patient you are, the better your chance of success. Do not force the dogs to interact. Once the dogs are able to view each other at a close proximity, allow one dog to walk behind the other, and then switch. If the dogs remain comfortable, allow them to walk side by side. Finally, let the dogs interact under close supervision. If one or both dogs show any signs of stress or agitation, proceed more slowly with the introduction. Monitor closely in the home. When first introducing the dogs in the home, use a sturdy, tall baby gate to separate them. Observe how they interact through the gate. Reinforce positive behavior by providing high-value treats to the dogs for positive interactions. Make sure that there are no toys, food or treats left around the home that the dogs could potentially fight over. Also, be aware of situations that could lead to conflict—for example, when the dogs get overly excited. Also of interest:. Digital Marketing If you own a German Shepherd, are worried about bringing a new dog into your house? Or are you bringing a German Shepherd home and are worried about how your other dog s will react to the new GSD? The good news is that you can keep everything under control if you correctly introduce them and create a friendly space for the two to interact. When introducing your German Shepherd to your other dog at home, you should try to be assertive while staying calm. Start off with putting your GSD on a leash, or having a barrier between the two dogs. German Shepherds usually familiarize themselves with other dogs if you guide them. Read further to determine just how to make introductions, correctly socialize, and ensure all your fur babies are the best of friends. The good news is, GSDs have several qualities that make them the best house pets one could have. Deeply intelligent, fiercely loyal, and well-suited as both guard and therapy dogs, GSDs are wonderful companions. In addition to this, they are high-energy dogs, so playing with other furry friends is good for them. But they usually prefer being around familiar dogs and can act aggressively in unfamiliar company. German Shepherds are also sociable and friendly and get along well with other dogs. GSDs usually think of smaller dogs either as prey or playthings. They are big boys, and smaller dogs fear them! Hence, you should never leave a GSD unsupervised with a smaller dog. If your GSD reacts aggressively, immediately remove him from the company of the smaller dog. If all goes well and they are busy sniffing each other and growling a bit, only step in when necessary. Your dog only needs time to familiarize himself with the tiny specimen he is facing off with before they become the best of buds! Medium dogs It is better to introduce your German shepherds to medium-sized dogs first. Remember, interactions with dogs of all sizes are different since their temperaments and socialization are different. Dogs that are of a calmer temperament and are medium-sized, like Labradors or Golden Retrievers, are suitable dogs to introduce to your GSD. Large dogs Large and giant breeds are the least likely to be at risk near your GSD because they are of an equal size. However, since larger breeds usually have the same dominant and territorial characteristics as your GSD, they can get aggressive around each other and act dominant. Since big dogs can seriously harm each other you should never introduce them without training and caution. If the dogs start growling and barking at each other, you should immediately intervene and keep them away. Instead of defending their territory, the dogs will only focus on the introduction and will think of the interaction as a playdate instead of their space being infiltrated. If the dogs become too aggressive, keep them at a safe distance from each other so they can relax a bit. If they seem to be getting along but things escalate quickly, use a ball or a loud sound to distract their attention and take them both out of the space. If they seem calm and relaxed with each other, take that as a signal to let them play together. Tips For Home Introductions If you are introducing a new dog to one that already lives at home or even several of them , it can be a very exciting experience. Things can, however, go south if the dogs take an instant dislike to each other. For smooth at-home introductions: Acknowledge that the dog already living at home thinks the place is his territory. It may be disturbing to have to welcome another dog to his space. Keep interactions well-supervised, and be patient while the dogs get introduced to each other. Make sure the dogs are both adequately trained, and at a respectable distance from each other. Make sure you are prepared to intervene if things get too growly. All they need is some attention. Start Early Starting the socialization process young prevents your dogs from seeing other dogs as threats. Check the Temperament Make your dog meet others that are known to be of a friendly temperament. Seek Friendly Spaces To prevent any bad first interactions with other dogs, introduce any new dogs in neutral spaces. Seek Precautionary Measures gates, leashes, etc. Finally, keep things safe by installing some preventative measures: When necessary, keep the leash on to prevent both dogs from attacking each other. Know when to intervene and put a stop to the interaction. Set up barriers between the two dogs, such as dog gates. Remember that the first interaction can be nerve-wracking. Bon is a dog lover and a blogger. He loves spending time with dogs more than with humans. You will find him training himself for the next marathon when he is not writing. First impressions matter, so you want to make the experience as positive as possible. This helps the dogs get used to being in our home with our families and our other pets. This will keep your pets from defending their territory. It will also seem like a playdate, which is a fun experience for most dogs. The first meeting should be done slowly. Let the dogs see each other through a fence or barrier. Allow the dogs to sniff one another. If any aggression occurs, correct it with a loud sound. A bottle with pennies can get their attention and stop undesirable behaviors. You will know the dogs are comfortable with one another when they are calm together. To do this: Have your new dog get into the car with your existing pet already in the vehicle. Then, bring in your existing pets, and finally the new dog. This welcomes the new dog into the pack. It is possible that you may have an allergic reaction to a Labrador Retriever, especially if you are allergic to animals. When considering any type of pet, it is important to take into account your allergies and consult with your physician. Every person's body is different, and pre-existing allergies should always be assessed prior to introducing a pet into your household. Additionally, it is important to research the breed you are considering to make sure you can provide the necessary care. Labrador Retrievers are active and athletic dogs, and their diet needs to reflect this. To ensure your Labrador is healthy, there are certain items you should avoid feeding them. Foods to avoid include chocolate, onions, garlic, raisins, nuts, stone fruits apricots, peaches, plums, etc. Additionally, you should never give them bones from the kitchen as they can splinter and cause choking or internal damage. These hybrids were the ancestors of the Labrador Retriever, and they were owned and used by fishermen in dragging nets filled with fish out of the sea to the boats. Not only that, but the Labrador Retrievers were also trained to recover fish that got away from the nets or from fishing hooks. This breed is fast in movement, most especially when they are running. In addition to their agility and strength, Labrador Retrievers are homely, easy-going, outgoing, intelligent, affectionate and friendly to humans and other animals also. Dog lovers who have children are always keen on getting this breed because of its endearing and non-aggressive nature towards children most especially. Due to its origin and history, this breed is not a breed that sits in a place for a long time. It is a breed that enjoys roaming and hunting, and can also thrive in both warm and cold weather. The Labrador Retriever breed is full of exuberance, boisterousness, and energy, and as a result of this, it needs a lot of training and exercise to keep it active and agile at all times. Only black and fawn colors are recognized as official breed standards by the AKC. Since the genes for the piebald or white markings needed for Panda Pugs are recessive, breeders need to crossbreed Pugs with other dogs to get the coloring. Many breeders even consider it to be exotic and will sell Panda Pugs for a much higher price than Pugs with other fur colors, despite the lack of a pedigree. This trend started in China, when Chow Chow puppies were dyed to look like pandas to entice customers into a dog cafe. Since pandas are considered national treasures in China and even then, are only found in a small part of the country, the stylish new look for these Chow Chow puppies quickly became a new sensation. What started as a curiosity quickly led to many more dogs being dyed in the same way, particularly in China. Where the Panda Pug is concerned, though, they are born with the coloring rather than dyed. Like all Pugs, the Panda Pug is a wonderful pet for all sorts of families or single people looking for a companion. Panda Pugs have the same maintenance requirements as standard Pugs. They should only eat high-quality food and be groomed regularly to help manage their shedding. However, you must consider the breeding practices used to develop these dogs. Remember to ask for a full health history for the dogs that your breeder uses before you purchase your new Panda Pug puppy. A post shared by Moncton Pet Photographer tracymunsonphotography Conclusion Despite their name, Panda Pugs are not a mix of the cute Pug and the endangered panda! These friendly Pugs have the same distinct white-and-black patterning as pandas, hence their name. They are among the rarest Pugs today, and their popularity makes them incredibly expensive but they are still well-loved companion animals. Introduction Getting your hands on a Panda Pug is not an easy feat, as these hybrid dogs do not exist in the wild or in reputable breeding programs. If you are looking to add a Panda Pug to your family, there are a few things to consider. Knowing the origins and characteristics of the breed is essential before bringing a Panda Pug home. You should understand the availability and potential pros and cons of owning a Panda Pug. What is a Panda Pug? This rare canine is said to have the body of a Pug and the markings of a Panda Shepherd, and is a very rare breed of dog. They are incredibly personable and have a lot of energy, making them a great companion for active families. If you are looking for a unique and special breed of dog, then the Panda Pug may be the perfect choice for you. These dogs are loyal and will bond quickly with their owners, and will provide plenty of love, affection, and companionship. While you may not be able to find a Panda Pug at your local pet store, if you are willing to do your research and put in the effort, you may be able to find one through a reputable breeder. The hybrid is created by crossing two purebreds, usually a pug and a panda bear. The result is not necessarily predictable, but when done right, can create a beautiful and unique animal. The Panda Pug is not available anywhere as a pet. There are no reputable breeders offering these hybrids and they do not exist in the wild. Before attempting to acquire a Panda Pug, it is important to consider both the pros and cons. This hybrid is an incredibly cute and unique animal, but they may be more prone to health issues due to their hybrid nature. And 5 Simple Cleaning Steps Because of this, it is important to research the potential health issues that may arise in a Panda Pug, as well as any potential legal issues you may encounter. While the Panda Pug is not available for purchase, there are other options for those looking for a unique pet. Each of these breeds offers a unique look and personality that may be just what you are looking for. It is important to do your research and find a reputable breeder who can provide you with a high-quality pet. It is believed that the breed was created sometime relatively recently, and is a hybrid of a Chinese Imperial Dog and a Pug. It is difficult to find any official record of this breed, as it has not been officially accepted by any major dog breed club. This means that it is not an officially recognized breed, and thus is not available in the same way that other breeds are. It is also worth noting that Panda Pugs are not a naturally occurring breed and should not be confused with naturally occurring Panda Dogs, which are a separate breed. Panda Pugs are a deliberate hybrid, and they can only be acquired through breeders who specialize in hybrid breeds. As the breed is not officially recognized, it is important to be diligent and make sure you are getting the pup from a reputable breeder. It is also important to remember that Panda Pugs are a relatively new breed, so it is important to be aware of the potential health issues that may arise. They have the floppy ears of a Pug and the long, silky coat of a Pekingese, making them a unique, cute companion. They are intelligent, loyal and independent dogs that love to cuddle with their owners, and they make excellent watchdogs due to their alert and protective nature. Panda Pugs are not as common as other dog breeds, so acquiring one can be a challenge. Reputable breeders do not offer this hybrid, so you may have to look for a pup from a breeder who does not have a good reputation. If you are able to find a Panda Pug, it will most likely be up to date on all of its vaccinations and health checks. Although Panda Pugs are usually healthy and robust, there are some drawbacks to owning one. They are not always easy to train because of their independent nature, and they need to be groomed regularly and thoroughly to keep their coat looking its best. Panda Pugs make an excellent pet for those who enjoy the challenge of training a strong-willed, independent pup. This hybrid has become increasingly popular due to its unique features and physical characteristics. It is not possible to purchase a Panda Pug from a reputable breeder, as there is no standardized breeding program for this hybrid. If you are still interested in finding a Panda Pug or a similar hybrid breed, you may want to consider adopting a mixed breed dog. Many times, mixed breed dogs will have characteristics similar to that of the Panda Pug. Adopting a mixed breed dog is a great way to provide a loving home to an animal in need. You may be able to find a mixed breed dog with a similar appearance and temperament to the Panda Pug. As the Panda Pug is a hybrid dog and does not occur in the wild, there is no way to acquire a legitimate Panda Pug. It is important not to be fooled by backyard breeders who may try to pass off mixed-breed puppies as Panda Pugs. These puppies are often sick and may have been bred in inhumane conditions. If you are still interested in getting a Panda Pug, you should consider adopting an adult mixed-breed dog that may have some of the characteristics of a Panda Pug. There are several small dog breeds that may have the look and personality of a Panda Pug, such as the Chihuahua and the Pomeranian. There are many mixed-breed dogs available from animal shelters and humane organizations. Adopting an adult dog may help to ensure that the pet is healthy and has a safe, loving home. It is important to consider the pros and cons of owning this hybrid dog before making a decision. Panda Pugs are not available in the wild or through reputable breeding programs, so it is not possible to acquire one. The traits of the individual dogs making up the hybrid are often unpredictable, making it difficult to predict the personality and behavior of a Panda Pug. They are an interesting and unique type of dog, making them a great conversation starter and a source of pride for their owners. They are usually quite sociable and make great family pets. In conclusion, while there are pros and cons to owning a Panda Pug, it is ultimately up to the individual to decide if they are the right pet for them. Post Views: 1, Owners that want a loving, demanding dog Temperament: Loyal, loving, fun The Panda Pug is a color variant of the Pug that likely came about as a result of mixing a Pug with another breed. It has the physical markings of a Panda, especially with the black and white coat that matches that of a Panda. The breed is intelligent and makes a good pet, but it is not officially recognized by kennel clubs and registries because it does conform to breed standards and because it is not a purebred Pug dog. Dogs that are harder to train will require a bit more patience and practice. Proper exercise, nutrition, and hygiene also play an important role in the lifespan of your pet. More social dogs have a tendency to run up to strangers for pets and scratches, while less social dogs shy away and are more cautious, even potentially aggressive. The aim of the cross was to create a Pug that had the black and white markings of a Panda. However, as this is not a purebred dog, other breeders have also attempted to create their own Panda Pugs, breeding a Pug with other small breeds to achieve the same result. There is no doubt that the cross looks cute, combining the features of the Pug with the markings of a Panda, but because it is not purebred and is not accepted by kennel clubs, it has yet to gain popularity with potential owners. The Pug, in general, though, is a very popular breed that is famed for its fun and loving nature. Formal Recognition of Panda Pugs Panda Pugs are not formally recognized by kennel clubs or registries, and there are two reasons for this. Black Pugs are accepted and are permitted a small amount of white marking on the paws, but they are not permitted more white than this on their body. But, if the Panda Pug was created by breeding Pugs with other breeds of dog, they are not purebred Pugs and would therefore not be accepted by registries. The breed would have to be bred for many generations before it had a chance of becoming officially recognized.

doberman poodle puppies for sale - We weren't going to operate like everyone else did, because we were not happy with what we were seeing from other breeders. Every time we looked for a reputable, quality breeder in and around Nebraska we were met with challenges we didn't appreciate. Poor customer service, poor breeding quality dogs, poor breeding facility, poor nutrition, poor cleanliness, and high prices. Each time we had one of these experiences, we learned exactly what we didn't want to be here at Krieghund Farm. I would definitely recommend them first to anybody searching for a quality GSD. We got our beautiful Axel boy in March and he has been a great addition to our family. They would send us so many pictures and updates while we were waiting to get him. It was important to me that we got a dog from somewhere that was so caring to them as we would be, and they definitely surpassed my expectations! Murphy became our furbaby in and he has been a great addition to our family. We have another German Shepard who was 7 at the time and the two have been the best buds from day one! Murphy is active, smart, funny and we love him so! Krieghund Farms was a great find, they are very personable and to this day still check up on us to make sure all is well! Not only is he blind, he also spent the first years of his life confined to a kennel, day after day, sitting in his urine and feces. When life starts off that way, the world can be a pretty scary place. When Muddy Paws rescued Wyatt, he was underweight, lacked socialization and was terrified of everything. The little things we take for granted each day such as the sound of brewing coffee or an air conditioner kicking on startled him. But with consistent interaction and love from our volunteers, Wyatt went from being afraid of nearly everything to craving love and affection. He has steadily been gaining confidence within the calm atmosphere of his foster home and would do best in a home without children and with minimal guests. In fact, he actually navigates quite well! He seems very curious about having a potential playmate, though it would have to be another dog that is fairly mellow and will require dog intros. He likes going for walks, sunbathing, and following his foster mom around the house. Wyatt is yearning to find a forever person that will help him make up for lost time, but also someone willing to go slow and at his own pace. His adopter would benefit from having experience with blind dogs. We request that he be adopted within 50 miles of the Omaha area to benefit from continued training, as provided by a certified positive reinforcement Muddy Paws trainer. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
