However, if you are a novice at finding German Shepherds then you are going to have your work cut out for you. The breed is not easily found and it can take a lot of searching to find just the right puppy for you. You will need to make sure that you have plenty of time to look for your German Shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia because they are rare to come by. You have three options to look into when it comes to looking for your German Shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia. You can either adopt from a breeder or buy a pet from a pet store. Most of the people that choose to adopt German Shepherds end up buying them from the pet store and this is not always the best option. It can take some time and a lot of money to find the right dog for you and if you choose to adopt your German Shepherd from a breeder, you are not going to have the opportunity to meet the right breeder for the perfect puppy for yourself. Most German Shepherd breeders will not allow you to see their dogs unless you are willing to pay a hefty fee for the puppy. This fee will be quite expensive and it might take you months to be able to purchase your own puppy from the breeder. If you choose to buy from a pet store in Augusta Georgia you will not be able to see the puppy until it has been spayed or neutered. When you get your puppy, you are not going to know the true personality of your new pet until it is at least eight weeks old. Once your puppy is eight weeks old and has been neutered or spayed, you will be able to decide if the dog is a really good candidate for adoption or if it is just a cute little cutie. Most reputable breeders are more than happy to show off the traits of their German shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia. German Shepherd breeders with puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia will offer you the ultimate inconvenience. All the paperwork is completed in one convenient location so that you do not have to do it all by hand. You can also work on getting your German Shepherd puppy licensed, much easier than trying to figure out all the steps for getting a traditional purebred puppy in this day and age. Many purebred rescue organizations will allow you to visit the premises and see the German Shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia before you make your decision. The advantage to working directly with a breeder rather than going through a pet store is that you will be able to ask any questions that you may have right away and feel comfortable asking them. Another thing you want to keep in mind when searching for German shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta Georgia is that the American Kennel Club only approves of these dogs for breeding purposes and not for show or pets. Once you meet the requirements, you will be approved for a C. If you are not able to find German shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta, you will still be able to find plenty of other great German Shepherds for sale in the cities of North and South Carolina. These cities have many small towns that are home to smaller, private German Shepherd breeders that are family-oriented and want to raise their dogs to be the very best. If you would rather find a larger number of German shepherd puppies for sale in Augusta, you should consider looking into finding a rescue group that offers German Shepherds as adoptions. Many cities have designated certain areas as no-kill zones, meaning that the lives of these dogs are not being cut short for lack of space. The city of Augusta is one of these cities, so look around your area and look for shelters or rescue groups that have German Shepherds available to adopt. Most of these dogs are purebred, but some have been adopted from puppy mills, where they are treated badly and not used to much interaction. They could have problems like behavioral issues or health issues, so it is important to check up on them before adopting a puppy. By going with a professional rescue group, you will know that you are getting a real dog with excellent breeding. Many legitimate breeders have websites, and they do not care about the profit margins of the puppies. Many are willing to spend more money to get your German Shepherd pup because they love the breed and want to give you the best puppy possible. You can be confident that you are getting a well-bred puppy, from a reputable breeder, without the high costs that you might encounter by going locally or trying to find the highest-rated breeder online. Josie at 4 months If you are interested in getting on the reservation list, please send us an email answering these questions. Where do you live? Do you have plenty of space for a large breed dog? Will your dog be an inside pet or outside? Are you planning on breeding eventually or will always be a companion only? How much time, during the day, will you or your family have for a new puppy? Do you have any other pets? We have done this with every litter and right away the puppies choose to potty outside instead of where they sleep and play. I've had several people tell me that they installed a doggy door and their puppy didn't have any accidents at all and was completely trained to the door when they brought them home. I make no guarantees on your puppy being potty trained by 8 weeks when you take them home but I do guarantee that they had a great start of pottying in the yard for weeks prior to going home. We do not ship puppies because when you get your puppy, we want to be there to hand him to you and make sure that your new baby is safe and in good hands the entire time. We can travel up to 70 miles to meet you with your new puppy. And we get the feeling! Nobody can stand the cuteness of those pups. So, let us explain what our reservation process is and what to expect. The process is simple and much easier than the other Doodle breeders in Missouri. We start with getting to know you and your preferences. Before you reserve a pup, we help you choose the perfect fit for your family. This happens not only through the photos and videos we share with you but also by matching their traits and personality to blend in well with your daily life. Since Bernedadoodles need to spend the first weeks of their life with their mom, we kindly ask you to wait for them to mature a bit before separating the pup from its siblings. This was devastating news for my husband and I, but we knew we would continue loving and providing him with the best life possible. After several discussions, my husband and I decided that finding Hank a brother would be the perfect solution. The hunt was on, we knew we wanted another breed that was mixed with poodle. Not only because it eliminates shedding, but also because of their intelligence and faithfulness to their family. Although my husband and I had only ever had smaller breeds, we decided it was time for a change and began researching larger breeds. In the Summer of , I discovered a local family, the Bells, were going to have a litter of Bernedoodles. We had never heard of this breed. While researching the Bernedoodle, we discovered everything we were looking for; intelligent, affectionate, gentle, and loyal. I reached out to the Bells and told them my husband and I were interested in purchasing one, and asked if we could look at the litter. At Mid Missouri Bernedoodle the Bell family was extremely welcoming and invited us to come as long and as often as we wanted. The litter was just as precious in-person as they were in the pictures that were sent to us, but my eyes immediately fell in love with a little black puppy with four white paws. After our visit we went back home to discuss a little further, but we quickly realized that this puppy would be the perfect addition to our family. We brought Harold home and he immediately developed a bond with his brother, Hank. Harold quickly surpassed Hank in weight and overall size, but that has never affected their relationship. Harold is very sweet and observant, and notices when Hank needs a break from playing. Harold enjoys cuddling, long walks, other animals, and humans of all ages. He is very affectionate and protective, as he finds comfort in knowing where you are at all times. We are extremely grateful for all the help that the Bell family provided us while making this decision, and we could not be happier with our purchase. Haley Gilmore.
My name is Cody! I had a bit of a rough start to life before coming in to care due to being attacked by other dogs. MUR came to get me and had some great doctors tend to my wounds and now I'm all ready to find my forever home. I am fully crate and house trained, so no worries there and I've been working hard on my leash manners as I can be reactive on walks. On good days I may not react to anything, but on bad days I may react to cars, dogs that react to me and skateboarders. I am learning to "shake it off" more now and have been consistently improving. I have been taking CBD oil and it has definitely helped me chill out. My foster parents say that I'm a super sweet guys who just wants to be a lap dog all the time. It's true, I love cuddles all the time and hanging out on the couch at night with you is my favourite. During the day I love to chase balls and play in the yard. I would love it if you could help me keep working on that! I have done a lot of training lately and have participated in an online class with Pliant Pack Dog Training. I'm hoping that my new family will continue taking courses with me so I can keep growing and learning. I can be reactive but it has gotten so much better already, I just need some help to learn that cars and other dogs aren't so scary. I do best with positive reinforcement and someone who will talk to me when scary stuff is happening around me so that I know I'll be ok. I have been muzzle trained which comes in super handy, I sit perfectly to put it on now and it's been a great asset to my training! I will need an experienced handler but I know that MUR will set us both up for success. Due to my past, I would rather be the only dog in the home but have been making good progress making friends with some other dogs, with proper introductions. I have met some cats and it's possible I could do well sharing a space with dog savvy cats. I adore kids but can forget my own size and strength so would rather live with older kids who are sixteen years old or more. I would really love a calm home to call my own without too much hustle and bustle going on so that I don't get overwhelmed as well as a family who will take the time to do calm and slow introductions with new friends and situations. I think that we could make an amazing family and I hope that we can keep growing and learning together forever in between cuddles, of course. You should apply to meet me! No exceptions. Jeska and Mambo had a successful breeding and she welcomed her puppies on June 22nd. These puppies will be ready to go home around August 19th and they come from remarkable parents! Both have been shown, IPO titled, were born in Germany, and come from some of the best dogs in the world! These puppies would be great prospects for showing, breeding, competition, IPO, or service work. They will be truly remarkable companions if that is all you seek. Please reach out to reserve your new best friend today! To do this we carefully select all of our breeding dogs to make sure they come from World Class Champion Lines with great health and amazing temperaments. In doing this we can carefully select the traits that we want to continue to see throughout this remarkable breed. Many of our clients provide pictures of their puppies as they grow and it is clear that our puppies grow up to be truly exceptional and stunning representations of the breed. The puppies that we produce would be top prospects for show, competition, breeding, or IPO however we find that most of our clients are looking for a truly top-quality companion. To obtain this level of quality you would previously have had to import a puppy from Germany. By carefully selecting our breeding adults we are able to offer the same if not higher quality from right here in the USA. We love what we do and take great pride in raising each and every puppy as one of our own. This starts from day one and goes up until we say goodbye to them as they are heading off to their new home. When the puppies are born, we provide around the clock care and supervision to ensure each puppy has a solid foundation and healthy start to life. As they grow and age, they get more interaction by the day. All the puppies get played and interacted with daily with the help of my son as well as the adult dogs who love to help care for them and show them how to play and behave. By raising the puppies inside they get use to all the sounds and smells of a regular house which I have heard makes the transition to their new home a lot easier. Not only are the puppies raised inside but our adults also live inside with us as well as these dogs are our family. Raising and taking care of the puppies is a truly unique experience and I take great pride and joy in what I do. It is very difficult to say goodbye to the puppies after giving them so much care and time during the 8 weeks I get to help raise them however it always makes things easier when I see the wonderful homes and families that they are going off to. My name is Trish Sansbury. I compete with my dogs in the sport of Schutzhund because I love training and working with my dogs and because it is such an important temperament test for the working dog. Dogs that pass Schutzhund trials must have certain traits. They need to be intelligent, trainable, protective, and confident. Schutzhund dogs produce puppies like themselves. The same traits that make good Schutzhund dogs also make great family pets. In order for a dog to become Breed Surveyed, certain criteria must be met. The dog needs to be titled, he must pass a 12 mile endurance test, his hips need to be certified free of hip dysplasia, and he must get a rating from a Conformation Show proving he is structurally correct. Once all this criteria is met, the dog goes in front of a Breed Survey Judge, who examines him carefully and observes him doing a protection routine. Only when a dog passes all this, can he be considered Breed Surveyed and be desirable to be bred. All my dogs are Breed Surveyed before being allowed to have puppies. This is why my dogs produce such high quality puppies, who become not only sport or competition dogs, but also loyal companions and enjoyable pets. My puppies, with the right training, also make excellent protection dogs.

Loyal, affectionate and intelligent, they bond closely with their human families. Paradise Golden Retrievers has an outstanding health legacy throughout the past 15 years. Selectively breeding two to four litters per year, we have placed over puppies in loving Florida homes. We have never had a puppy or adult dog returned due to a health issue. We attribute this to selective breeding practices as well as to utilizing the English Golden Retriever lines. We have found loving family homes for our 'Puppies from Paradise' throughout Florida since .Our location in Valrico, next to Brandon, is convenient for most families adding a Golden puppy to their lives. We have recently opened a second kennel outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, on a restored, historic plantation. This location is 30 minutes west of Greenville and situated on acres. Melissa Coleman, M. She has owned and loved the breed for over 40 years. Hunting the fields of rural Pennsylvania with her father, she first appreciated the obedience and agility of a highly-skilled hunting Golden. She has been fortunate to witness a wide range of Golden Retriever activities - from the field and stream excellence in retrieving, to the beloved family companion, to the obedient and sensitive therapy and service dog. She comments, "Goldens have such huge hearts, they are also very intuitive and have an enormous desire to please their owners. Many people purchasing a puppy have previously owned a Golden and need little introduction to their special qualities. To these people we say, "Welcome back to the wonderful world of Goldens! Golden Retrievers enrich lives in so many ways with their fun-loving, ball-retrieving and water-loving personalities! Their constant Golden "smile" is trademark! Owner Todd says, "Best 7 years of my life. Birthday Boy, age 7 For families with small children, Goldens are ranked at the top of the list for safety with interaction with children. Having raised Goldens with small children, we can attest that they happily tolerate the typical antics of climbing and gentle tugging which children lovingly 'heap' on them! It is a joy to see children and puppies grow up together. Our goal is two-fold: to place each of our puppies in a loving, thoughtful home setting and know that the puppy will become a much-loved member of the family; and that the families who select our puppies will be enriched by the life of their Golden Retriever. Puppy Purchasing Purchasing a puppy requires thoughtful planning. Health, parental lineage and temperament, as well as environment, are all important factors in purchasing a puppy. Also important is selecting a breeder who will take time to answer questions before, during and after the puppy sale. At Paradise Golden Retrievers, we prioritize these factors so that purchasing a puppy is a positive experience for the entire family. All deposits are refundable until the puppy is 6 weeks old. All females over two years of age in our breeding program have their OFA hip and elbow clearances or they are pending. With this parental certification, your puppy is destined to lead a happy and healthy life for many years to come! We have never had a puppy returned due to a health problem and credit this to our excellent breeding stock. Special Honor for our Puppy Temperaments The temperaments of our dogs can be described as gentle, obedient and affectionate. Paws with Purpose, an organization which provides companion dogs to disabled people, personally conducted standardized temperament testing on Ginger Snap, Shalimar and Daisy puppies, giving them excellent ratings. The puppies they purchased have continued to have great success in their training program and they have proved adaptable in a wide range of situations. Temperament is fundamentally important in selecting a puppy. Welcome to the Gainesville, Florida page on TrustedPuppies. Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. I do not promote the extreme roach back shepherds. Mine either have the proper gentle slope or a more straight old fashioned back. All my dogs are part of the family. We do not have kennels, and I will never keep my dogs in kennels. That would make them very unhappy lol. Every dog i own lives in the house with us and is part of our family. I have recently acquired a nursery shed! It was bought as a shell and I am building the whole inside into puppy rooms, and after the puppies are raised indoors in my bedroom for the first couple weeks, they are then moved out to the nursery shed! They will still be in the house all the time, but they will be in the shed and outdoors when nice for a majority. I am so excited for the addition and have been waiting a long time for it!!!! My goals for are to get ALL my dogs various titles! I implement the Puppy Culture Program into our litters! Its amazing, and so much fun! I love being able to give puppies the absolute best start in their lives which will impact their whole life! Its an amazing program! Puppies are raised for the first 2 weeks in our bedroom so we can watch over them carefully and someone is always with them during that time, and during that time we also do the Early Neurological Stimulation with them. Then we move them to their bigger whelping pens which will be the nursery shed now where we play classical music and other varieties including thunderstorm all the time except bedtime when its quiet time. They learn to use the litter boxes and play with toys. We introduce to new sounds, smells, and textures daily. They are raised in our home and underfoot most of the time, and are handled all day everyday, so they get the full family setting and used to daily family activities and noises and such. This is all a HUGE learning process for me. I do my best and try my hardest at all times. I do not claim to be perfect but I always strive for perfection. I want to produce the best quality dogs I can and I want everyone to always be happy with their lifelong companions. I may make mistakes along the way, but I will always try to fix them and do better next time and move forward and take each mistake as a learning opportunity. My goal is to provide happiness and love to everyone thru my favorite dog- the German shepherd. I also provide transport for my puppies and others as well. They change so often, I cannot give a set price at any time until its actually time to book. If transport is needed to meet you someplace or take a puppy to meet you at the airport, it is the same, 50 cents a mile round trip. I will start a list in the menu at the top, of websites, or breeder names, whom I feel are deserving of recognition. Ill try to update this list whenever I think of someone or something I may have missed! Storm is a solid black longcoat German Shepherd. She has a super wonderful pleasing temperament. Long-haired German Shepherds are technically called a long coat German Shepherd, while a short-haired German Shepherd is called a normal coat or stock coat German Shepherd. Dogs with either coat have the same physiological structure and both have double coats: an undercoat and a top coat. The only difference between the two is the top coat. The long haired German Shepherd will have a heavier top coat than the undercoat. The double coat of a German Shepherd is an important feature of the breed. The double coat weathers and insulates the dogs—it protects them from the cold in the winter and the heat in the summer. The length of the coat of a German Shepherd has no impact on its ability as a working dog. What does a long haired German Shepherd look like? The skeleton and structure of a long-haired German Shepherd will be the same as a short-haired German Shepherd. Both dogs will have an undercoat, but the difference is that the top coat of a long-haired German Shepherd will be longer. The long coat GSD has longer and silkier hair on the chest, back, face, tail, and on the backside of its legs. Short on the head, including the inside of the ears, on the front side of the legs, on the paws and toes, somewhat longer and more strongly covered in hair on the neck, almost forming a mane. On the back side of the legs the hair extends to the carpal joint or the hock and forms clear trousers on the back side of the haunches. Historically, German Shepherds originated in Germany and were native sheepdogs. He firmly believed that the standard of the German Shepherd breed should not include dogs with long hair. Throughout the s, long haired German Shepherds were considered unsuitable and unacceptable for breeding. It is important to note that long-haired German Shepherds are the result of natural genetic diversity and not a separate breed. Their long coats are an inherited trait that can occur when both parents carry the recessive long-hair gene. This gene manifests as a more luxurious and abundant coat, offering a striking contrast to the traditional short-haired German Shepherd appearance. The breeding of long-haired German Shepherds follows the same rigorous standards and principles as their short-haired counterparts. The focus remains on maintaining the breed's exceptional temperament, working abilities, and overall health. Over time, breeders recognized the value of long-haired German Shepherds and began selectively breeding them to maintain and enhance their unique characteristics. Through careful pairings and strategic breeding programs, the long-haired variety established itself as a distinct and cherished branch of the German Shepherd breed. How big do long-haired German Shepherds get? Long-haired German Shepherds are structurally the same as short-haired German Shepherds, therefore they can both grow to similar sizes. Males: inches tall, pounds Females: inches tall, pounds Since both German Shepherds are physiologically the same, they also have the same temperaments: loyal, intelligent, energetic, courageous and protective. German Shepherds are ranked 2 on the AKC Breed Popularity list and make for wonderful family companions and working dogs. How can I identify a long-haired German Shepherd puppy? In the photo below are two litter mates from a recent Nadelhaus litter. The puppy on the left is a long coat and the puppy on the right is a normal coat. The long coat has wispier hair on the chest, back, face, tail, and on the backside of its legs. Long-hair female German Shepherd next to short-hair male German Shepherd. Genetically in German Shepherds, the short hair gene is dominant and the long hair gene is recessive. This means if two short-haired German Shepherds are mated, but neither carries the recessive long hair gene, then no long haired puppies can be produced. However, if two short-haired German Shepherds are mated and both carry the recessive gene, then long-haired German Shepherd puppies can be produced. Long-haired German Shepherds are considered a less common variant of the breed, adding to their allure and exclusivity. While short-haired German Shepherds dominate the breed standard, enthusiasts of long-haired Shepherds appreciate their unique beauty and elegant appearance. Due to their rarity, finding a reputable breeder or rescue organization specializing in long-haired German Shepherds may require some research and patience. However, the joy of owning one of these beautiful dogs is well worth the effort for those who appreciate their longer coats and exceptional qualities. Do long-haired German Shepherds shed more than short-haired German Shepherds? No, this is a common misconception. Although they shed less than short haired German Shepherds, their coats still require regular maintenance. They will need regular brushing and grooming, especially if you enjoy hiking or outdoor activities with your GSD. While it is a rare occurrence for a long-haired GSD to not have an undercoat, most of them do have undercoats. And just like short-haired GSDs, their undercoats will shed more or less throughout the year depending on the season. Should I trim my long haired German Shepherd's coat? The decision to trim a long haired German Shepherd comes down to personal preference, but it is not a necessity. Trimming can help make for more manageable living around the house. If you choose to trim, you can trim around the backs of the ears, on the back of the legs both front and back and then thin the bushy tail. Shaving a German Shepherd on the other hand is never recommended. Their double coats help keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. What are long haired German Shepherds called? Regular brushing: Long-haired German Shepherds require regular brushing to prevent matting and tangles. Aim for at least a few brushing sessions per week to keep their coat in good condition. Finish your brushing session with a gentle dog brush to clean up loose hairs. Bathing and drying: It's important to bathe your long-haired German Shepherd as needed, using a dog-specific shampoo. Be sure to thoroughly rinse out all the shampoo to prevent any residue. After bathing, use a high-velocity dryer or a cool air dryer to dry their coat thoroughly, as moisture trapped in the fur can lead to skin issues. Professional grooming: Consider taking your long-haired German Shepherd to a professional groomer for occasional trimming and coat maintenance. A groomer can help keep the fur around sensitive areas, such as the paws and ears, tidy and reduce the chances of matting. Watch for seasonal shedding: Like all German Shepherds, long-haired ones will undergo shedding seasons. Be prepared for increased shedding during these times and brush your dog more frequently to remove loose hair. A de-shedding tool can be helpful in managing shedding and keeping their coat healthy. Remember, each dog is unique, and the specific care requirements may vary. Does Nadelhaus sell long haired German Shepherd puppies? Pure-breed black German shepherd puppies have the right temperament to make engaging family pets. Leave them alone or confined. These pups will grow mischievous and become high-strung. As the name implies, they originated in Germany in the late s. As part of the Herding Group, German Shepherds were used for livestock, herding, and guarding sheep. Back then, GSDs were not considered pets or companions but servants of farmers. Although German Shepherds weren't considered household pets, their owners did provide proper food, protection, and shelter. In the early s, a German cavalry officer named Captain Max Von Stephanitz made it his mission to create an ideal German herder. He co-founded the world's first club devoted to German Shepherds. Von spent 35 years promoting and refining the wonderful breed. People finally noticed how strong, smart, and obedient German Shepherds are. So now the military employs them as working dogs. Their intelligence, strength, speed, obedience, agility, and keen sense of smell make them perfect for the job. German Shepherds are also very versatile and make great companions. Their impressive and lovable personalities soon drew the attention of other countries. German Shepherd dog was brought to the United States in the early s, and American breeders began to develop their own lines of the breed. The American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd in , and the species has been one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States ever since. Today, GSDs are not only considered one of the most favorite household pets. The versatility and outstanding characteristics make German Shepherds beautiful pets, companions, and protectors. Due to the breed's reputation for being loyal, courageous, and easy to train, German Shepherds are used as police or military dogs. Personality Know the personality and temperament of your German Shepherd Dog German Shepherds are well-known for their smartness, confidence, intelligence, loyalty, and courageous personalities. As household pets, German Shepherd dogs get along with their owners and other members of the family. However, they do not get along with strangers easily, but with time, they warm up to anyone who tries to be friendly with them. The German Shepherd dog breed is distinguished for courage, loyalty, and the ability to maintain training. Because German Shepherds have strong guardian instincts, they tend to be loyal and protective of their owners and children. Given their strong guardian instincts, inadequate training and poor socialization can make them aggressive toward strangers. Their over-protective and aggressive behaviors can put any owner at risk. Therefore, GSDs should be carefully socialized with proper training from a very young age. The best thing about GSDs is that they are intelligent. German Shepherd dogs are usually active and like to be occupied with an activity. They do well with people who allow them to stay active. They need an ample amount of exercise daily to retain their activeness. They should be continually exposed to supervision during the training period. Most importantly, your German Shepherd should not be confined to a kennel or backyard alone, as GSDs like to be around their loved ones. Keeping them tied up alone will make them lonely and aggressive. A German Shepherd dog should be purchased from a good and reputed breeder. We do not hand over any puppy or dog without having them vet-checked. Health Health is wealth, even for your German Shepherd dog. daves boxer puppies - Your bulldog needs a good cleaning. You may look at your bulldog and wonder where to start. There are so many nooks and crannies that are important to clean on your bulldog. From their ears to their tail pocket, you have to be sure they all get clean and dry. All those folds are a breeding ground for bacteria. If bacteria starts to grow in those folds, it can lead to huge problems from infections to skin loss. All of which will be devastating and hard to deal with later. How to wash a bulldog: Wash a bulldog using a gentle shampoo medicated for bulldogs and luke warm water. Step 1: Place a towel or anti-slip mat in the bottom of a bathtub and lift the bulldog into the bathtub. Gently place cotton balls in their ears to avoid splashing water from getting in their ears. Step 4: Thoroughly rinse all the shampoo off your bulldogs body with luke warm water. Step 5: Remove cotton balls and towel dry your bulldog. Be sure any wrinkles on their body are completely dry. Step 6: Clean and dry head, face, face folds, and tail pocket. We have a YouTube Video where I go through the entire process of our daily grooming with daisy. Be sure to check out it out after you have finished our article. Best Shampoo for a Bulldog Picking a shampoo for your bulldog is a little more complicated than you think. Here are some things to consider when picking a shampoo for your bulldog. Their skin is far too sensitive to tolerate it. Always use a shampoo that has been designed for animals. Germicidal properties. Bulldogs carry a lot of germs in those folds that we want to minimize as much as possible. Germicidal shampoo will help with that. Fragrance free. I know we want our bulldogs to smell fresh and clean, especially since bulldogs tend to be on the smelly side, but fragrances should be avoided. Find a shampoo that is pH neutral. If you are looking for a good bulldog shampoo, we recommend this medicated shampoo from PetMD. It kills bacteria and yeast, plus helps heal any skin conditions your pooch my have. Follow with aloe or coconut oil in any dry spots after the bath. First, brush your dog to loosen up any dirt and dry skin. This is also a great time to check your dog for any infections or developing skin problems or fleas and ticks. Tip: Lay down a towel or a non slip mat on the bottom of the bath tub to keep your bulldog from slipping in the bathtub. Use a large bowl or plastic water picture. Fill it up with luke-warm water and pour the water over your dog. Begin by rinsing your bulldog from the front legs and work your way back to get the bulldog wet. The face will take some extra attention to wash, and dogs will start to shake the water off once their head gets wet. Add the shampoo to your hands and lather it up. After you reach the back, work your way forward again. But this time rub the shampoo all around their neck and around the back of their head, right up to the back of their ears. Let the shampoo sit for a few minutes, if your bulldog is patient enough. Rinse the bulldog off again, and be sure all the soap is rinsed off. And your done washing your bulldog! At least your done with the body. Dry off your bulldog with a towel, again being sure to dry all the skin folds they many have in their legs, and dry the tail fold as well. You can also use a blow dryer set on a cool setting to dry their skin as well. Give your dog one last brush to make their coat extra shiny. Plus 9 Tips on What to Look For! After you dry and brush your bulldog, you will want to clean their face. You should clean their face more often than you you bathe a bulldog. The face folds are especially important to clean often. Dirt, food, and grime get in these folds really easily since they have to push the whole face into their food bowl, water, and pretty much anything they want to smell. Baby wipes are great for this task. Just remember to be gentle. Start by wiping down their forehead and fur around the sides of their face. Gently clean around the eyes, and follow the tear fold down their cheeks. Gently lift the fold over their nose. Again this part gets particularly dirty. Pay special attention to the corners of the nose fold. Keep cleaning until the baby wipe comes out clean. Clean in the wrinkles under the chin as well. When everything is cleaned, come back with a soft cloth and dry out all the folds. Tip: A cotton ball is a great tool to dry the nose fold. Simply 1 or 2 cotton balls out and place them in the nose fold. Leave them for about a minute and most of the moisture should be sucked up. Watch for any raw skin and treat it with Vaseline or a mild ointment. Coconut oil is also great for this. Its edible and safe if your dog happens to lick it. Just far enough that they stay in place, but not too far so that you can easily take them back out. This will prevent water from getting in their ears and clogging them up. Using the same wipes, gently clean the inside of their ears. Wipe all around the tail, especially the underside of the tail. Then wipe the skin and fur underneath the tail. It is especially important to clean a bulldogs tail and behind area thoroughly. The skin in the tail pocket rubs a lot when the bulldog is excited and can easily become irritated. Keep in mind that this is not their actual anus, its just a pocket underneath their short pudgy tails. Its really not as gross as it sounds. After you have wiped all around and underneath the tail, follow with a dry cloth and dry the tail pocket thoroughly. Just remember to be gentle, but confident. You are helping them. Thorough washing and cleaning is essential to keep your bulldog healthy. Bulldogs are susceptible to skin issues, more than most breeds because of that squishy face and allergy problems. If you are committed to washing and cleaning your bulldog, you will save yourself from a lot of work and heartache for you and your bulldog later on. This will depend on your bulldog. Every bulldog has different quirks. Maybe your bulldog is especially stinky, or enjoys getting in the dirt. Or perhaps your bulldog has a skin issue and needs special shampoo to help them heal. This is all subjective. Use your best judgement. Their folds however, should be cleaned at least twice a week. Can Bulldogs Clean Themselves? Bulldogs can only clean parts of their body on their own. Because of their anatomy, they are unable to clean their behind. Some bulldog owners even wipe their bulldog every time their bulldog goes to the bathroom. Perhaps selective breeding can change that for future generations. Post Views: 1, Whether he's a short, pudgy meatball or an athletic, rawhide-dominating beast, your bulldog's cleaning regimen is pretty simple. With a bath here and a brush there, he'll always feel and smell as good as he looks. Step 1 Set a bathing schedule of just one bath every month or two. While that wouldn't fly for a human, your pooch can get away with it. He has a short little coat loaded with protective oils, and if you bathe him too often, it'll strip all those good oils off and be bad for his skin. Step 2 Brush out that beautiful coat before bath time. A bulldog needs a good brushing every single day to get rid of dirt and dead hair. While you don't have to brush him before the bath, it'll cut down on the amount of hair he leaves in the tub -- and how much work it takes you to clean all that hair out when you're done. Since his skin is so sensitive, use a brush with soft or rounded bristles. Go against the grain first, then with the grain. This helps you get all the hair and nasties out. Step 3 Fill your tub with warm water, but just a few inches. Your pooch shouldn't need a life jacket or anything -- just give him water up to about knee-level. Make sure that the bathroom itself is plenty warm, so he doesn't catch a chill. Step 4 Get him good and wet before you suds him up, but don't get any water on his face or in his ears. Those are breeding grounds for bacteria when they collect moisture, and you're going to clean his face later anyway, so just don't worry about it right now. Step 5 Massage some mild dog shampoo into your dog's coat. Remember, he has sensitive skin, so be gentle. Those oils that you're washing out of his fur are a natural parasite repellent, so when you wash him, go with a shampoo that has a parasite repellent in the formula. This keeps his skin safe until the oils build back up naturally. Wash him starting at the neck and working your way back to the tail, and don't forget areas like the undercarriage, tuckus and legs. Finally, rinse him off, getting all that soap out of his fur. Step 6 Let your pooch out of the tub and towel him off. While his coat dries off, you have the perfect opportunity to clean out his face, which you should be doing every day anyhow. Dip a cotton swab in warm water, then wipe out the areas gently between his facial folds. Keep doing that with new swabs until they come out clean, then wipe out his folds one more time with a dry cotton swab to catch any extra moisture. More Articles. Finishing the Dog: Tools and Finish Grooming This kind, courageous, yet dignified dog should be bathed and groomed on a regular basis. This allows the skin and coat to lock in moisture in order to maintain perfect hydration. As a finishing touch, before using a hydrating spray, use a grooming mitt and massage in a circular motion to stimulate the release of natural oils in addition to the removal of any excess loose hairs. Then finish with a hydrating spray. General Health Care Prep work is the foundation of all grooming. Prep work includes ear cleaning, nail trimming, anal glands, and proper dental hygiene. Mastering these skills sets the professional pet stylist apart from the rest. Prep work should be done before every bathing and grooming appointment. All dogs need to have their ears checked and cleaned on a regular basis. Proper nail care is also very important. Long, unsightly nails are uncomfortable for the dog, as well as anyone they might jump on. Long nails also compromise the shape of the foot. Trimming the pads of the foot helps give the dog good traction on different surfaces and can minimize the amount of dirt the dog tracks into the house. It also affords the opportunity to treat and condition the paws from cracks and abrasions. Anal glands should also be checked and expressed if they are full. Some caring pet owners prefer to have the anal glands done by their veterinarian. Good dental hygiene is essential for a healthy pet as well. Nutritional Care In order to maintain healthy skin and coat as well as overall health, it is important to provide good nutrition to your dog through a well-balanced diet, vitamins, and healthy treats. Do they require a lot of grooming? If you are not a fan of cutting hair, then you have made the right selection of choosing a Bulldog. This smooth, short haired bundle of joy requires minimal grooming. However, weekly brushing is recommended. It is important to wash their face and pay particular attention to the wrinkles at least weekly if not twice a week. What is a common problem in bulldogs?
