The rescue was conducted by the Utah Animal Advocacy Foundation. Between July and September, Korb and other volunteers with the rescue organization made five separate round trips to eastern Nevada to transport the pugs to Utah. Many of the puppies were infected with parvovirus and required immediate treatment leading to expensive emergency veterinary bills. Her foster situation turned into a forever home. The other foster dog in her care has been adopted and will soon be united with its new family. Thanks to the rescue and the volunteers, these pugs have a new outlook. UAAF finds homes for roughly animals every year. She hopes situations like this will inspire more people to use the rescue and adoption route when searching for a family pet. She was one of 26 Pugs rescued on Independence Day in .Toy lived in a wire cage and was bred time and time again, and she did not receive any veterinary care. Toy has skin issues and calloused, webbed feet from standing on wire flooring her entire life, and she has permanent back and hip arthritis. She is now receiving cold laser therapy to help with the pain. She also has a collapsed trachea which was not addressed at the time, and she has severe glaucoma. Even in puppy mills licensed by the U. Department of Agriculture, standards of care are notoriously low. Current federal regulations are so weak, and enforcement is so poor that breeders can keep dogs constantly caged and deny access to regular exercise, socialization and even adequate vet care. The truth is most breeding females do not end up in a loving home once their bodies give out. Their puppies are also prone to a host of lifelong, expensive medical and behavioral problems. Puppy mill operators care more about profits than dogs. All dogs deserve the good life—but as long as the secretive puppy-breeding industry continues to hide the truth, too many dogs will remain victims of its cruelty. Other Ways to Help:. Videos and Cams Pug rescued from puppy mill had the best life Pug rescued from puppy mill shows signs of serious neglect, but she is adopted and her life changes dramatically for the better. By Christelle L. Del Prete December 4, Piper the pug had been through a lot by the time she was rescued from a puppy mill in .But the best chapter of her life started when she came to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Brandy and Piper were together nearly 10 years. When Piper passed away in mid-November, she was believed to be 19 years old. Although she lived a charmed life as a pampered pet after her rescue, she also became an ambassador for pet rescue, adoption, senior pets and rescuing puppy mill dogs. What is a puppy mill? A puppy mill is a dog breeding facility where dogs live in small cages and female dogs are bred as frequently as possible. Dog mills in the U. Puppy mill puppies are also sold on websites and through classified ads. Many people unknowingly buy puppies who have genetic disorders or who may be sick because of poor conditions in puppy mills. Meanwhile, millions of healthy, loving dogs of all ages are available for adoption at shelters and rescue organizations around the country. She was extremely underweight and missing most of her fur. Her skin was irritated and in rough shape. Since she was not well-socialized, she was also quite unsure about people. But all that was about to change. Brandy, a southern Utah resident, was volunteering at Dogtown when Piper along with other rescued puppy mill dogs were brought in. Piper ran up to me and asked me to pick her up. But Piper was so sweet and calm they took right to her. She instantly became part of the family. In the beginning, Brandy carried her around in a baby pouch and let her down when she felt safe. Together, they walked all over town and met as many people and friendly dogs as possible. As Piper gained healthy weight and confidence, she began riding in a stroller and then she began walking on her own, with Brandy picking her up only when she seemed overwhelmed. Brandy and Piper logged countless miles on their daily walks and took some epic road trips. Piper moved from Utah to California to St. Louis with Brandy, and everywhere they went they helped to spread awareness about animal welfare. Piper could change minds and hearts. Because of their special bond, the cat began cuddling on the couch with her and Brandy. She survived cancer and came through major dental surgery with flying colors. Besides some age-related arthritis and eyesight issues, Piper had slowed down but was going strong until recently, when she began having lung and breathing issues. As hard as it was to let her go, their life together was more than Brandy had ever hoped for. Both of our lives have forever been changed through this journey. Save Them All Stay in touch with the animals via email updates, as they get second chances at happy homes. Email Address. Many times these animals are in deplorable physical condition: parasite-ridden, underweight, bred nearly to death. Most have rarely been out of their small, cramped cages. They may have eye infections, missing orbs or vision impairment caused by ammonia from urine-soaked quarters. Some have torn, deformed ears and missing limbs from cage aggression. Females may have hernias from painful, extended labor. Their toes may be splayed from walking on wire floors. Many have tattooed ears. Some have numbers hung around their necks on chains that have grown into their flesh. Their dental state is invariably horrible; most will have painful, infected teeth and gums, some resulting in systemic infections. These are animals who've endured years of torture to make money for uncaring humans. When a reputable rescuer gets her hands on a puppymill survivor, providing medical attention is just the beginning. The physical damage can be staggering. The psychological damage is much worse. It takes a very special adopter to accept and love a puppymill survivor. Rehabilitation of the puppymill survivor begins with rescue, but can only be completed by a committed, loving family. The purpose of this article is to help demystify some of the acquired behaviors of the puppymill dog, and to let the adopter know what to expect. Common Puppymill Survivor Behaviors Terror of humans hands: The only time most mill dogs are removed from their cages, it's a painful experience. The dog may be grabbed by the first reachable part of it's body: tail, leg, scruff, ears. This takes lots of patience and non-threatening touches to overcome. You may have to lie on the floor face down with your eyes averted to get the dog to approach you at all. Let him come near you and sniff. It may take an hour, or days for this to happen. You can sometimes begin by holding the dog, petting him gently for a few seconds, speaking softly, then place him carefully down. Let him know you do not wish to restrain him. Lengthen the time for this ritual each day. Never raise your voice, clap your hands, or allow loud noises in the home during this adjustment period. You must strive to create a totally non-threatening environment. Behave as submissively as possible. Build trust slowly. Aversion To Eye Contact: Many puppymill survivors refuse to make eye contact with humans. This indicates fearful submission which decreases as the dog comes to realize he will not be harmed by you and begins to trust. Talking to your dog in a soft, calm voice helps speed the process. A dog may not speak English, but the gentle tone of your voice and the fact that he is the focus of your concern will be understood. The "I'm Afraid Of My Food" Routine: Anytime the cage door is opened on a mill dog, fear is the response, because an evil human is behind it. Of course, the cage door must be opened to insert a bowl of food, which may also be used to entice the dog within reach. It's not unusual to see your puppymill survivor run in the opposite direction when you sit dinner on the floor. Turn your back and walk away until the dog feels "safe" enough to eat. Let him eat undisturbed. Some never grasp the finer points. Most males will mark, and many females, too. Crates are useful in housetraining. Belly bands a cloth band which wraps around male dogs covering the ureter will help prevent marking. Nicely fitted doggie diapers are available from Foster and Smith. Human diapers can also be used - just cut a hole for the tail. Put your dog on a schedule. Take him outside first thing in the morning, at lunchtime whenever possible, after dinner, before bedtime. If you see him lift his leg in the house, a shaker can jar filled with small pebbles or clicker can distract him long enough for you to get him outside. Never raise your voice. Never hit a dog. Take him outside and reinforce by saying, "Potty outside", or something similar. Use positive reinforcement when the dog does his business outside.Potty outside! Good, good boy! Never take your dog outside a securely fenced yard until you are thoroughly bonded. Then if you take your dog outside the fence, double-check to be sure harness is secure enough. I sometimes use a collar and harness, then run the lead from the collar through the harness for extra safety. If a mill dog gets loose outside a secured area, he will likely run until he drops; catching him will be quite a feat. Prevention is by far the best policy. Coprophagy: Stool-eating is common in puppymill survivors. There is much contention as to the cause. However, most rescuers feel it is a learned behavior. Again, prevention is the best policy. Pick up the yard frequently. Some mill dogs stop this behavior over time. Fear of Water: Many puppymill survivors are frightened of water hoses. Puppymillers generally don't bother removing the dogs before hosing down their cages. I have known adopters whose puppymill survivors have become well-acclimated to homes, families and leashed walks only to have the dog bolt when they chanced by a neighbor watering his lawn. Fear Biting: Fear biting is more common in abuse cases than in puppymill survivors, but we do see it occasionally. Puppymill survivors, like feral dogs, usually cower in the presence of humans. Fear biting can frequently be overcome with proper training and commitment, but it generally requires a professional animal behaviorist, not to mention a strong commitment from the adoptive family. Sadly, because of both the enormity of the canine overpopulation problem and the abundance of more easily salvageable dogs, most fear biters are euthanized. These are a few of the most common puppymill survivor behaviors and suggestions for working with them. Working with a puppymill survivor is not an easy undertaking. But for those of us who have witnessed the miracle of these frightened beings growing to love and trust, to play with toys for the first time, to learn to take soft beds and good food for granted, it is one of the most joyful and rewarding experiences of our lives. The puppymill survivor who ventures to trust a human being despite a history of cruelty and neglect is a triumph of the spirit from which we can all learn. WhatsApp Three of the pug puppies rescued from the puppy mill. Photo courtesy of UAAF via Facebook A Utah animal rescue organization is flooded with adoption applications after a rescuing 40 pugs from a puppy mill in Nevada. After a volunteer for The Utah Animal Advocacy Foundation expressed concern about an unethical breeding situation in Nevada, the UAAF coordinated with volunteers as well as the breeders to find a resolution that could bring the pugs to safety. The pugs were brought to Utah, where they were placed in foster homes to await adoption. Maryjo Korb from UAAF said the dogs were kept in a dirt enclosure with chain link fences, and several had lice. After the rescue, a few puppies were born but died shortly after from genetic problems caused by inbreeding. Of the six puppies with parvovirus, only one survived. Additionally, prospective dog buyers can look for puppies registered through the American Kennel Club, ask for medical backgrounds and visit the breeders to make sure the dogs are being treated well, Hamilton said. Humane Education Adopting a Puppy Mill Rescue Dog Puppy mills are essentially large-scale dog breeding factories, where the dogs are typically housed under deplorable conditions, living in overcrowded, soiled cages with wire floors. Inadequate veterinary care, food, water, physical and psychological stimulation e. Females are bred continuously until they no longer can reproduce, at which point they are often killed. The puppies are taken from the mother between 6 and 8 weeks of age, and are sold to pet shops or sold over the Internet. To the puppy mill owner, profit, not the welfare of the dog, is of utmost importance. Due to the living conditions of these dogs, physical, as well as psychological problems are common. Physical conditions may include heart and kidney disease, visual and hearing impairments, epilepsy, musculoskeletal problems, and respiratory and intestinal disorders just to name a few. Anxiety and fear of humans, and fear of novel situations and objects, due to inadequate exposure during critical periods of development are the most common emotional problems. Puppies removed too young from their mother and littermates, at 6 weeks of age, may also develop behavior problems including aggression. Housetraining the adult dog can be a challenge given their lack of housetraining experience. Leash walking will be a nonexistent skill, and adults in particular will have to learn how to play. Lastly, these dogs tend to be overly sensitive and fearful of handling, including hands reaching toward them to pet them. Some puppy mill rescue dogs will make fantastic strides in their recovery, yet some may never fully overcome the effects of the puppy mill. The recovery process could take months to years because all dogs have different personalities. The recovery of some puppy mill dogs goes faster if there is a resident and confident dog friendly dog in the household. With a lot of patience, persistence, compassion and love, having adopted a puppy mill rescue dog will be an enriching and rewarding experience for the adopter. Preparing for your Newly Adopted Puppy Mill Rescue Dog Purchase the following items: a dog crate that is the appropriate size tall enough for the dog to stand in, long enough for the dog to lie down in. Try a wire and plastic airline crate to determine which one is preferred by the dog. The crate can also protect them, and household items, from destructive chewing and ingestion of potentially dangerous objects. Some dogs may be petrified of any crate, in which case they could be enclosed in a small area blocked off with baby gates. Place the crate, food, water, bedding, and wee wee pads or newspaper on the floor. Be sure to dog-proof the room if your dog is not going to be crated while unsupervised. For the very shy dog, allocate a couple of hours of alone time, peeking in occasionally to make sure your dog is okay. Traveling or having loud parties at this point is not recommended. Hand your dog treats while attaching the leash to the collar to help establish a positive association with the leash, and give some more treats while your dog is walking around wearing the leash. Next, walk around the house holding the leash loosely at first, and then increase the resistance slightly so that your dog feels a bit of tension against the collar or harness. Lastly, walk your dog outside. Always remove the leash if the dog is not supervised. Collars should also be taken off of young puppies when not supervised to avoid accidental choking. Over the course of the next several weeks allow your dog to explore more areas of the house if your dog is interested. Do not push your dog to do anything that will make the dog uncomfortable. Spend quiet time with your dog, perhaps just sitting and reading a book while in the same room. To gain trust, sit and pet your dog while giving the dog some treats. If your dog is uncomfortable being pet, then just try to offer some treats. Introduce new people slowly and individually. Always have special treats for your visitor to offer your dog. Finally, many dogs gain confidence by engaging in basic obedience training.

Pug Its breeding story goes back to ancient times. It is one of the oldest canine species in history! Pugs were always associated with the Royal families. Therefore we can confidently state that these dogs are definitely some blue-blooded members. The first mentioning of Pugs was in Northern Africa, particularly Egypt. Who knows, maybe Cleopatra or Nefertiti owed one? They would immediately alert their royal masters if someone was coming up to the chambers. This is a happy-go-lucky breed, always up for an adventure! Its ability to amuse is just plain astonishing. These are some of the main qualities that attracted Chinese Royals to the breed when it made its way into Asia. They ate, slept, and were even guarder like real emperors! Later on, the wrinkle-faced puppies made it to Europe with the merchants and spread across the European Royal houses. She loved the breed so much, that she even started her own Pug club, actively procreating and giving them out to her court members. This breed was actively used in Australia to help guard a herd against predators, lurking around the farm. This dog species first emerged in the s, when an Australian land giveaway process commenced among Anglo-Saxon immigrants and farmers needed a good guard dog to look after the livestock. They proved to be the most successful protectors out of all the other Aussie herd dog breeds. The English brought Smithfield breed dogs with them to take on the flock-guarding duties, but this hound species was not suitable for a hot and dry Australian climate. As well as not being physically fit to run long distances. Therefore, the decision was made among the farmers to cross the Smithfields with a Dingo, one of the oldest Aussie dog breeds. But what makes the Blue Heeler Pug mix puppy special? It is time to look closely at the breed and talk about its main characteristics. The hybrid pup gets the extreme playful nature from its Pug ancestor and smarts of a Blue Heeler parent. The breed is a medium barker, will definitely be on guard if a stranger comes into the house. Nevertheless, it will not be aggressive and will eventually settle after it realizes the stranger is a friend. Activity Level: very, very active and energetic dog. A lot more active than its Pug parent. Needs a sporty, active type of owner who can exercise this hound and burn all of its excessive built-up energy. Better suited for a house rather than an apartment cos it needs a lot of play space. Trainability: the Blue Heeler Pug mix is a very intelligent kind of dog, on the same level as the German Shepherd and a Lab. Or some dog experts think they are the most intelligent in the canine world. A Pug parent does give it a little stubbornness in the mix, but the smarts and historically ingrown loyalty to the humans overcome this little con. The answer is simple. You can explore new places, meet new people, canines and bond while doing that. Happy bonding! My passion for dogs drives me to share my knowledge and expertise, helping families build strong, loving bonds with their four-legged friends. Welcome to Sirdoggie A blog crafted with love for all dog lovers and their families! Which dog is best for hot or cold weather: Blue Heeler vs Pug? Blue Heeler vs Pug weight gain potential comparison: Average to High: If you don't pay attention to the Blue Heeler's weight, he can easily gain weight. Life Span Did You Know? They were bred specifically to drive cattle over long distances and often across rough terrain. Blue Heelers are affectionate with their human families — and other pets too. These dogs tend to be brave, loyal, and friendly to children and other dogs in the family. They can have a high prey drive so will need socialization and training around other pets in the household. When it comes to strangers, they tend to be cautious, watchful, and aloof. Their protective nature puts them on alert. As long as they are properly socialized, they will warm up once introduced. Australian Cattle Dogs tend to be moderately adaptable dogs. As one of the best dog breeds for farms , they also thrive in agricultural settings. Although they have short coats, these dogs do well in most climates. They are sensitive to heat. They can handle some cold, but are not a cold-weather or snow dog breed. Blue Heelers bond closely with their families, which means that they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. Potential health concerns to be aware of in an Australian Cattle Dog can include elbow dysplasia , hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and deafness. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies, so make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. The Blue Heeler is an energetic and highly intelligent working dog. As one of the smartest dog breeds , they do not have any issues picking up commands quickly. But, this does mean that they get bored easily and need training to be kept interesting. As a classic working dog, they need a job to do to be happy and healthy. Their high energy can be an obstacle for first-time owners, so puppy training classes are recommended. In addition to better training techniques, there are also socialization opportunities and other benefits of puppy training classes. They do have a double coat and they will shed their undercoat twice a year. More frequent brushing is recommended when they shed their undercoat. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed help prevent ear infections. Daily tooth brushing in addition to cleanings at the vet when needed can help prevent painful dental diseases later in life. The Australian Cattle Dog is a high-energy working dog. They need a lot of daily activity and a job to do to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough, but they will likely be up for more activity if you are. These dogs are athletic and versatile working dogs, so once they are finished growing, you can try a lot of different activities with them. A fully-grown Blue Heeler usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. Australian Cattle Dogs generally live for years on average. Both varieties feature the distinctive speckled or mottled patterns that Australian Cattle Dogs are known for. Australian Cattle Dog puppies usually develop their coat colors after a few weeks and the patterned coat should be coming in clearly by around 6 weeks.

I am familiar with common and uncommon health problems they may face so when my boyfriend and I decided we were ready to adopt our own english puppy finding a reputable breeder that prioritizes health was most important to us. Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. While there is no specific gene that causes the lilac color, it nevertheless requires a combination of two dominant genes—one for chocolate and one for blue—for it to appear. In that respect, the only chance for a puppy to be lilac colored is if both parents carry the chocolate and blue dominant gene. This is what makes lilac colored English bulldogs so rare. Do lilac tri bulldogs have health issues? While some English bulldogs will deal with health issues sometime during their lifetime, it is never a result of their color. If you adopt a lilac colored puppy from Bulldog Angels, then you can rest easy knowing that your pup will be just as healthy as all of our other English bulldog puppies. Blue English bulldogs Lilac colored English bulldogs will have blue eyes. A blue-eyed dog is extremely uncommon and typically the result of a recessive gene that not even the best bulldog breeder could control. Some owners fear blue eyes are a sign that your dog will eventually go blind, deaf, or suffer from some other genetic defect. This, however, is not always the case, and blue eyes do not automatically mean that your pup will suffer from any health issues later down the line. Jim T. As English Bulldog Breeders, how do you breed for a healthier Bulldog? Like all things in life, breeding for health is simply a matter of priority. We are blind to many of the breed priorities that distract other bulldog breeders from improving the health of their Bulldog. We focus on health and personality and very little else. We are not interested in winning a blue ribbon in the show ring. Rather, we test for things like elongated soft palates, narrow tracheas, stenotic nares, luxation in the patellar tendons, heart defects, cherry eye, optic cilia, entropion, ect. We focus and prioritize creating healthy bloodlines, therefore our bulldogs are typically much healthier than the breed as a whole. After breeding for health, what other priorities are you focused on? Our true desire is to create the perfect family bulldog. We also believe a bulldog bred for the correct personality is essential to the family unit as well. A Bruiser Bulldog is bred for intelligence and playfulness. We want our bulldogs to be full of personality and some quirk. We believe a full personality along with a little stubbornness is the true North star of the bulldog breed and is what makes them unique among other breeds. We look for these personality traits in our adult bulldogs and continue to create bloodlines that reflect these qualities and produce high quality English Bulldogs for sale. I have been looking for English Bulldog Puppies for sale near me. Where are you located? We are located in the Northeast corner of Indiana. We just happen to be about 2. We are also about a 30 minute drive from the Michigan and Ohio state lines. Other major cities within 2. If you are looking for an English Bulldog puppy near you and happen to be in one of these areas we are certainly within close proximity. What if I am not located locally? Do you offer delivery services? A large portion of our adopters are located on the East Coast and Southern states. While many do make the drive to pickup, we also offer a delivery service to those with extremely busy schedules or limited ability to travel. We also utilize our own flight nanny for our West Coast adopters looking to have their puppy hand delivered. Whether through pickup or through delivery service, we try to be the type of bulldog breeder that is ethical and responsible to both our bulldogs and adopters. At cheappuppiesforsale. Listed below are answers to the most common questions I receive as you are preparing to take your puppy home: 1. What is my puppy eating? We are feeding your puppy PawTree. They have a multitude of other flavors you can try out after your puppy comes home too. You can buy this food by clicking the PawTree picture at the bottom of any page on our website. You can find out more information at www. We also encourage you to set your order to their EZship so you never run out. They also offer personalized food by filling out a pet profile so we encourage all families to head over to fill out their pet profile for personalized food plan as well as personalized bags of dog food when they arrive. How many times per day should my puppy be fed? We feed puppies, weeks old 3 x per day. We try to keep them on a schedule such as: a. Once the puppy reaches 12 weeks, we cut them back to eating 2 x per day, eliminating the noon feeding. Increase the amount you feed based on the recommendations you will find on the dog food bag as suggested by weight of the puppy. We do not recommend free feeding — give your puppy about 20 minutes to eat, then pick it up and put it away. Water should be provided at all times, except during the night. Wet the food for about 30 minutes prior to giving it to the puppy so it softens to aid in digestion. However, if you see loose stools it is almost assuredly overfeeding so back it off until the stool is firm and then slowly add back in. When can I start training my puppy? We like to see training start as soon as you pick up your puppy from my home, or your puppy arrives via car or airplane. We recommend transporting your puppy home in a crate that is lined with a bath towel. Feeding time is a fantastic opportunity to train as you can spend a few minutes several times per day with teaching the basic commands of sit, stay and come. We provide a helpful training booklet with detailed information on training on our Puppy Tips page. What size crate should I buy for my puppy? Most puppies that will mature to a medium size will need a large crate once they have reached maturity. Plastic crates are an option as well. If you have any questions please ask us. What type of collar and leash do I need and what size is best for my puppy? We like to buy the less expensive, adjustable-type of collars and a nylon leash. We do not care for the expandable leashes that allow the puppy to walk way out in front or way off to the side of you. The smallest setting for the collar would be about 8 inches and expanding out from there. We use small carabiners to attach the stretched chain between the collar and the leash. This will prevent your puppy from chewing your new leash. If you are reserving a small size pup then I would suggest an XS collar. Another option while they are very young is a slip leash style. Some families like to train in harnesses. This is also a tool you can use. Sizes will vary from company to company, but most go off of weight. Ask us the estimated weight of your future puppy at the time they will go home so you will have a rough idea of what to purchase. It is never a bad idea to weight to buy until you can size your puppy in person though as each harness will fit differently. You can play the radio softly if your puppy is in a different room from you as this is how they were raised with us. You have to find a system that works for you. However, keeping consistent for the first few nights will build a sleep pattern in your dog you will enjoy for its entire life. How many times per night will my puppy need to go out to go potty? We suggest you feed your puppy dinner no later than p. Make sure that you see puppy go potty and poop before putting him to bed for the night. If your bedtime is p. Then only if puppy is whining, let him out very methodically to potty no playing and put him right back to bed. How many times per day should my puppy need to go potty? Puppies will always go potty right away after they wake up and after they eat. If you take puppy out right after eating, see him go potty, then allow about 30 minutes of some free time in your home before making his world small using a temporary fence or leash. On average they can typically hold their bladders for 2-hours, but every puppy will react differently to stimuli in your home. Should my puppy have contact with other vaccinated dogs? We like to make sure other dogs have not only been vaccinated, but are also free of parasites. Worms of all sorts can live in feces and it just take a quick second for your puppy to ingest enough to get a parasite. This product should be alternated every 6 months. There are countless natural remedies as well as chemical based options you can find at your vet. We always prefer natural options first, but in some cases the chemical based products are needed. Check with your vet or trainer for their recommendations in your area. We strongly suggest topical or collar options only. How often should I give my puppy a bath and what should I use? We do not bathe our puppies unless they are dirty and we use baby shampoo or something gentle. We usually suggest people decide what they like in the look of their Labradoodle. Do you like the longer, shaggy look, or do you like the shorter, more manicured coat? If you leave the coat longer, you will need to keep it combed out and mat free. Do you have recommendations for where to stay when we pick up our puppy? We are located only 20 mins from Lebanon, Oregon. There are numerous hotel options in Albany, Springfield, or Eugene that you can explore. The difficult part is deciding which one will have the greatest positive impact on their well-being. The following are some of the top options for dog foods for your Labradoodle: Dry Food: Due to its affordability and accessibility, dry dog food is a preferred option for Labradoodles. The nutrients in high-quality dry food are appropriate for a different life stage of your Labradoodle. Dry food has the greatest shelf life when compared to other types of dog foods. Wet Food: Wet food or canned food is another option for owners. Labradoodles enjoy the variety of flavors in canned food that come in interesting shapes like other meaty foods. Owners may combine wet food with dried food because wet food alone is typically more expensive than dry food. While it can be costly, doing so guarantees that their pups receive high-quality food. If you only give the same food to your Labradoodles, they could develop picky eating habits. Hence, it makes sense to follow the advice of the majority of veterinarians to combine kibble and wet food with a ratio of 20 to .Make sure the food you choose is sustainable and highly recommended by experts. Ensure that it will suit your needs, those of your dog, your financial situation, and your way of life. The average price of a Labradoodle is already costly. Hence, it is important to choose the kind of diet that will also suit your budget. Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Labradoodle Dog owners must be aware of the foods that can be harmful, poisonous, or trigger an allergic reaction in their Labradoodles. The following is a list of some harmful or poisonous foods that you must never give your pet Labradoodle: Alcohol: There is no enzyme that can digest alcohol in Labradoodles. Hypoglycemia , metabolic acidosis , respiratory difficulties, or central nervous system CNS impairment could result from ingestion. Avocado: Avocados contain the fungicidal toxin persin , which has been linked to the death of many dog breeds, including Labradoodles. It can cause vomiting, loose stool, and heart damage when taken in large doses. Chocolate: The major alkaloid in cocoa and chocolates, theobromine , cannot be broken down by an enzyme found in the stomachs of Labradoodles. As a result, even small quantities of chocolate can cause toxicity. Additionally, they could become uncontrollable, have convulsions, throw up, and have diarrhea. Grapes and raisins: As a result of the tartaric acid found in grapes and raisins, Labradoodles experience diarrhea , vomiting, dehydration , and kidney failure. Unfortunately, even one full grape can cause fatal injuries and irreversible harm to Labradoodles. Onion, garlic, leeks, and chives: All of these vegetables contain N-propyl disulfide , which robs red blood cells of their ability to carry oxygen. Consuming these veggies over time may cause hemolytic anemia. It is frequently present in toothpaste, gum, candies, and syrups. Listed below are foods that may seem harmless but are actually hazardous for Labradoodles: Cooked bones: Cooked bones are prone to shatter into shards. They can hurt your Labradoodle as well as obstruct its mouth, throat, and stomach. High-sugar foods: Your Labradoodle is more likely to develop health issues, including diabetes, obesity, and teeth damage, if it consumes too much sugar from other dog foods. Avoid cheap dog food, which usually contains too much salt. Consuming too much salt can result in seizures, renal failure, diarrhea, and vomiting. If ignored, this results in gastrointestinal blockage and death. Bring your Labradoodle to the nearest veterinary clinic immediately if you think they have accidentally ingested any of the aforementioned foods. A smart technique to make sure that their nutritional demands are being satisfied is to switch to a new food. If you want to gradually introduce a new food to your Labradoodle pup, make sure to introduce it in little amounts every day. The timeline provided below will help you introduce a new food to your Labradoodle: Days. The ideal feeding schedule for adult dogs is twice a day, but the number of meals will vary depending on breed and activity level. However, vets recommend that dogs be fed two to three times a day. Some dogs need a larger amount of food than others, so feeding them at a set time will help them avoid hunger pangs. If you are unsure of how often to feed your dog, follow this guide. Puppy The question of how often to feed a puppy is an important one. A well-fed puppy will love you forever. Generally, you should feed your puppy 3 to 4 times a day at the same time every day. This allows your puppy to adjust its eating schedule to suit the time of day. Ideally, feeding a puppy three or four times a day is enough. The age at which you feed your puppy will depend on his or her body type. Most puppies can switch to a two-meal schedule between six and twelve months. However, you can add a third meal if your dog has digestive issues. Adult Dog Most adult dogs require at least two meals a day, but some breeds require more frequent feedings to keep their energy levels up. A fussy dog can get away with one meal a day, while a deep-chested breed might need two or three meals a day. Regardless of the type of breed, feeding an adult dog more frequently will lead to problems like obesity. Most adult dogs will eat twice daily. This amount is usually divided into two equal amounts of meals. This allows your dog the time to digest the food and keep its metabolism running. You can find a dog feeding guide online or consult a vet to fix the right schedule. Seniors When it comes to senior dogs, they should be fed once or twice a day. Many people prefer to feed their dogs once in the morning and once in the evening. Overfeeding a dog can lead to a variety of health problems, including obesity. When a dog is overweight, he will lack energy and will have trouble exercising. Fortunately, overfeeding can be avoided with some simple tips. If you overfeed, it can lead to poor density and heart disease. It can also lead to obesity, which is hard to manage. A healthy diet should be balanced in all aspects. It is important to provide adequate amounts of food for your dog. A healthy diet should not include foods that are high in fat or sugar, and your dog should be happy and healthy. A properly-fed pet will be more energetic and happier. Overweight dogs are prone to many problems and are more likely to get sick. Instead of giving in to temptation and overfeeding, try to give more love and affection to your dog. Having a routine is crucial to avoid overfeeding. Feeding your dog at the same time every day will help prevent begging. Overfeeding can also lead to other negative behaviors, such as chewing and barking. If your dog is consistently overfed, he may even develop a food allergy. It is important to monitor these symptoms closely and consult your veterinarian immediately if your pet begins to show any of these signs. Overfeeding can happen when your dog eats treats. While you may be tempted to give your dog a large number of treats, you should keep it to a reasonable amount for each meal. For example, you can try giving your dog a small amount of a treat in the morning and a small portion at dinner. Remember to note the calories in any treats that your pet eats. Overfeeding can cause obesity and can even lead to other health problems. Overfeeding may lead to weight problems and an unhealthy dog. It is important to follow a strict diet plan to prevent your dog from becoming obese. There are many benefits to cooking for your dog at home, but not every recipe is suitable for the average pooch. A home-cooked meal can provide a wide variety of nutrients and flavors. A balanced diet should contain equal amounts of protein and carbohydrates. Also, it should be low in fat and high in vitamin A and B-complexes. A good rule of thumb is that your dog should eat at least two to three ounces of meat per day. Meat and poultry are the two most important components of dog food. Besides, they need to eat chicken, beef, and turkey. A homemade diet is easier and more nutritious than buying canned food and delivering it to your dog. But, be careful when preparing food for your dog with soy and beans, as these can cause gastrointestinal issues. The key to feeding your homemade dog food is to watch its weight. You can feed your dog half a cup of cooked vegetables per twenty-pound dog. Also, make sure to include a teaspoon of ground eggshell and bone meal in each portion. The great thing about homemade food is that you can change up the ingredients as needed without worrying about the exact amounts of each ingredient. Things Not to Feed Your Dog If you want to keep your pet healthy, you must avoid certain foods that are highly toxic. Listed below are the most dangerous foods that dogs can consume. You can avoid causing your dog harm by keeping them away from these items. Garlic is a major food additive that can poison your dog. A small amount can lead to health issues. If you feed your dog garlic, you should monitor his symptoms. You can expect signs of poisoning, including lethargy, lack of interest in food, and vomiting. Yeast dough is also dangerous. Salt is also harmful, as it causes dehydration. In addition, too much sodium can cause seizures. And finally, it can be fatal if your dog eats too much of these foods. Apart from that, you can also avoid foods like almonds, cinnamon, chocolate, grapes, ice cream, avocado, onions, alcohol, caffeine, macadamia nuts, raisins, peaches, plumps, and cooked bones. These are just a few of the things you should never feed your dog. These foods are best avoided as much as possible. How to Select the Best Dog Food? One of the most important things to consider when selecting food for your dog is the ingredients. A good diet should be rich in meat and poultry, and the right amount of each is important. A reputable manufacturer will list the types of meat and poultry used in the formula. The animal from which the meat comes will also be noted, as well as the type of bird used in the poultry meal. The protein, fat, and fiber content of the dog food will be listed. The most important part of the label is the nutrition adequacy statement. For example, it might include information about the type of breed and age of your dog. There are a few other key factors to keep in mind when selecting a product. In addition to meat and poultry, look for by-products such as feathers and manure. The best thing you can do is go for grain-free dog food. FAQ How much food to feed my dog? It is important to feed your dog on a regular basis to maintain even body weight. Overfeeding your dog can lead to obesity, which has its own set of risks. First, you must make sure that your dog has an adequate diet. You need to give them food three to 4 times a day. As the puppy grows, it should be more than what an adult dog eats. As for adult dogs, you need to feed them twice a day. A good rule of thumb is to feed your dog around the same time every day. This will help you detect any health problems early. The amount of food you give them depends on their size and weight. What is the best time to feed the dog? Feeding your dog is an important part of your relationship with your pet. Most of the time, your dog will eat around the same time you do. The first rule of feeding a dog is that you should feed him at least twice a day. Therefore, most experts recommend feeding an adult dog twice a day and an eight to twelve-hour gap between meals. You should feed them once in the morning and then again in the evening after 8 to 12 hours. As for puppies, you need to divide the meal into four portions. Feed them four times a day after every 4 to 6 hours. How many cups should I feed my dog per meal? The optimum weight for dogs varies depending on their breed. Some are underweight or overweight, which is why the amount they need varies, too. Medium-sized dogs, for example, need about two and a half cups of food per day. For larger breeds, you can increase their portions by adding one cup for every 10 pounds. To avoid overfeeding your dog, use a measuring cup to measure the portion size of each meal. If you want to give your dog the right amount of food at every meal, you should know how much your dog weighs. Is it cruel to feed a dog once a day? An adult dog needs to be fed two times a day. The truth is that feeding your dog only once a day is not the best solution for everyone. If your dog is a young pup, it is important to feed it several times a day. As it ages, the time between meals will vary. This will result in a lot of irritability and aggressive behavior. So make sure you feed them twice a day unless the vet recommends it for obesity. Over the years, with many conversations with Vets, that I respect, I've learned that puppy food is essentially a marketing ploy. In fact, when we first found Life's Abundance they didn't even have puppy food. It was redundant for them to carry puppy food. However, after pressure from so many customers that had decades of "Puppy Chow" commercials engrained in their heads, Life's Abundance decided to include a puppy food. If you prefer to feed the puppy food for the first couple of months we understand and feel is your decision to make and we do support you. We just ask that you stay with Life's Abundance as it's the best dog food and it's what your puppy has been consuming it's entire life, as well as, it's mother's entire pregnancy and life. This video is a great video to explain how to compare dog foods. First, I have strong opinions about most things, it's just my personality. I'm a Momma Bear type with my doodles. Some of my insanity I was just born with and the other sixty percent was gained by enduring some tragedies I don't ever want any of my families, including you, going through. In case you don't know, Life's Abundance, the company that makes all our food, supplements, treats, grooming products, and cleaning products are all delivered right to your front door for a very affordable amount. Life's Abundance food is very affordable and I will include a video at the bottom for you to watch. The dog food is made fresh every two to four weeks then immediately shipped out so your doodle's food isn't sitting on some shelf, on some semi-truck, in some warehouse, who knows where , and for who knows how long. Instead, we know where the food is being made and it's then on our front door step. Why does this matter? Well, your doodle can't say to you, "Hey, my food tastes moldy and I think it's why my liver and kidneys are hurting me but you won't know until I have bloody urine or I'm really sick. Do you think you could get me some fresh food? Many years ago I had a lab mix that was getting really sick and after being diagnosed with terminal liver problems did we realize the food was moldy. Next, one of our doodles many years ago got into a bag of China made chicken treats and ate more than the recommended serving and within four days she was dead. It was the worst tragedy that even writing about it now makes my stomach ache and my eyes tear up. My doodle was a normal, happy, fun loving doodle then suddenly the next morning she was so severely ill we had to go straight to the vet. Our doodle had no appetite, didn't want to move, was non-stop vomiting, with increased diarrhea with blood in it, she kept drinking water despite her belly looking so full, and she was constantly peeing and it was text book for poisoning from these treats. Telling this story has done me in for the night and I'm going to continue with my site later. I only explained this to help you from experiencing the heartbreak our family endured. From our experiences we searched long and far for a USA made dog food that never had a recall. When we did this search we found Life's Abundance. I checked and double checked this company. We learned it was started by a Vetrinarian which really impressed me from the beginning. Our doodles tested the food and loved it. We tried all the products and loved them. I searched all the dog food review websites and found rave reviews with an average of 4. I love that it was made fresh and never sat in a warehouse or on a store shelf for months, in most cases. I've heard of some big box companies buying tons of food from different companies to get discounts and most of the food sits and waits, in some random warehouse that isn't temperature controlled, for the food to sell so it to can make in onto a shelf at your local store to then be purchased by you. The question remains, how long has that food sat from when it was first made? With Life's Abundance, I know the answer, it was made fresh then shipped to you and I. Without a doubt, I will continue to find good products for our doodles and I will passionately share them with you, our doodle families. If for some reason Life's Abundance changes their quality or their product goes downhill or there is a better product then I will change our website and I will tell you why. I take being a "Full Service Breeder" seriously. I believe that my job begins once you adopt one of our doodles. When you adopt your doodle and take it home you are also gaining a doodle friend and confidant that you can call and get support from for life. I'm here to help you so you can just enjoy your doodle and come to one place for sound, honest advice. As my mother used to say, sometimes I'm too honest so be careful what you ask : lol. Dog owners often get bombarded with endless choices as well as countless adverts from the dog food companies, who all claim that theirs is the best. When it comes to dog food, the simple answer is no one food is best for all dogs. But the question is: which diet is the best for your Labradoodle? Luckily, there are many different options when it comes to dog food. The most popular manufactured foods include a complete diet dry , with or without a biscuit mixer and semi-moist. Some dog foods contain only natural ingredients. Then there is the option of feeding your dog a home-made diet. Some owners swear by a raw diet while others feed their Labradoodles vegetarian food. Within the manufactured options, there are many different qualities of food. Usually, you get what you pay for. Expensive ones are more likely to provide better nutrition for your doodle in terms of minerals, nutrients, and high-quality meat, whereas the cheap ones will most likely contain a lot of grain. Dried food also called kibble in the USA tend to be less expensive than other dog foods. They have improved a lot over the last few years, and some of the more expensive ones are now an excellent choice for a healthy, complete diet. Dried foods also contain the least fat and the most preservatives. Often semi-moist foods contain a lot of sugar and artificial substances, which is why some dogs seem to love them. Choosing the right food for your Labradoodle is very important. The diet influences his health, coat, and even temperament. It can have an effect on his health, coat , skin, energy levels, and temperament. There are several different types of food that you can feed your labradoodle — dry, semi-moist, canned, frozen, or freeze-dried are just some of the options. You can also feed him a home-made or raw diet. Many owners of labradoodle with allergies or skin conditions are now considering this option. Dry Dog Food for Labradoodles Dry food is a popular choice for Labradoodles, especially for large dogs who get through a lot of food. It is also less expensive than other dog foods. It is worth paying for a high-quality dry food as cheaper ones may contain a lot of cereal. It also means that you have to feed larger quantities to ensure your dog gets sufficient nutrients. Canned Dog Food for Labradoodles Canned food is another popular choice. Dogs also love them. They love the taste, and it generally comes in a variety of flavors. Canned food is often great mixed with dry kibble. If your labradoodle has lost interest in food and on a dry food diet, then you can add a small amount of canned food. Canned food tends to be more expensive than dried food. Many owners do not like the mess that it makes. If you store a part-opened tin in the fridge, then it can have an overpowering smell when you open the fridge door. Semi-Moist Dog Food for Labradoodles These are the commercial dog foods shaped like pork chops, salamis, burgers, or other meaty foods. They are the least nutritional of all dog foods. They are full of sugars, artificial flavorings, and coloring. You may give your doodle one as an occasional treat, but they do not provide the nutrition that your labradoodle needs. Freeze-Dried Dog Food for Labradoodles The frozen food manufacturers often make this for dog owners who like the convenience of it. You can store them for six months to a year. They do it to make sure that their pets are getting the right nutrition they need. Feeding your doodle a home-cooked diet can be time consuming and expensive. The tricky part is sticking to it once you have started with the best intentions. Raw food for Labradoodles If your doodle is not doing well on commercially prepared dog food then you might need to consider a raw diet. There is evidence that they are becoming increasingly popular among the Labradoodle owners. Raw food diets emulate the way dogs ate before the existence of commercial dog foods. After all, dry, canned, or other styles of cooked food for dogs were mainly created as a means of convenience. However, raw diets are not without controversy. Supporters of the raw food diet argue that a carefully planned raw diet gives the dog numerous health benefits, including a healthier coat, more energy, cleaner teeth, and get rid of bad breath and doggy odor. But the critics say that the risks of nutritional imbalance, intestinal problems, and food-borne illness caused by handling and feeding raw meat outweigh any benefits. Scientifically, the jury is still out. This is one of the most frequent questions that all the Labradoodle owners ask. But there is no easy answer. The correct amount of food for your labradoodle depends on several factors such as: Breed. As they grow you will move from four meals per day at 8 weeks old, to just one or two in adulthood. And you will want to use as much of their daily kibble as you can in training. Helping to strengthen the bond between you, as well as to teaching them which behaviors you want to see in your home. Feeding a Labradoodle Puppy When it comes to feeding your new Labradoodle puppy there are plenty of options to choose between and a number of things to consider. Puppies grow up fast. The first thing to keep in mind is that puppies have different dietary needs to adult dogs. Getting too much of some nutrients, and not enough of others can lead to developmental problems. Growing pups digest food and absorb nutrients differently than adult dogs too. Their gastrointestinal system also works much faster than that of an adult dog. Puppy Nutrient Requirements Puppies need more calories than adult dogs, relative to their size. In fact, they need about twice as many calories in relation to their body weight compared to that of a full grown Labradoodle. Compared to mature dogs, puppies also need: more protein to support growing muscle more fat to fuel growth and a different mineral balance to aid in the rapid development of their bones. For example, one study showed that puppies fed a low phosphorus diet suffer from impaired appetite and growth, diminished skin and fur quality, and a disturbed musculoskeletal system. Too much calcium can also negatively affect bone development, by accelerating it. This is a serious joint condition that leads to painful arthritis and lameness. The smaller and younger your puppy is, the more often they need to eat, since their stomachs are too small for big portions. Labradoodle puppies that are 4 months or younger should have their food split into 4 meals a day. When they reach 4 and 6 months old this can be reduced to 3 meals. Knowing how much to feed your Labradoodle puppy can be tricky. So the feeding charts on the packaging are a good place to start. This basic pet calorie calculator can help determine how many calories a puppy needs. Overfeeding Labradoodle Puppies Canine obesity is a big problem for many dogs and the Labradoodle is no exception. Some Labrador Retrievers are known to have a genetic mutation that causes them to have an insatiable appetite. But there are plenty of genetically normal dogs who will always want more food. If your puppy is constantly hungry you can try giving him smaller, more frequent meals. In fact, for training purposes we recommend using as much of each of the meals rations as you can as training treats between meals. These days there are a lot of brands vying for space in the dog food market. So deciding what to feed your Labradoodle puppy might be the most difficult question of them all. Puppies that are 8 to 12 weeks old should continue eating the same food they were eating at the breeders. If you want to change their food, wait until they are fully settled at home. Then transition gradually to a different diet to avoid causing an upset tummy. You can do it over the course of a week, like this: Feed 1 part new food to 3 parts old food on the first two days. Equal parts old food and new food on days three and four. And three parts new food to one part old food for two more days after that. Feeding a Labradoodle Puppy Dry Food Most puppy parents choose one of the many commercial dry puppy foods available. There are many reasons why these diets also known as kibbles are so popular. They are. Is kibble, cans, raw or homemade food better? Swapping Puppy Food Brands Moving into his or her new home is a challenging and exciting time for your Labradoodle puppy. Keep feeding what your pup is used to for at least two weeks. Then, slowly start mixing in the new food you have chosen for your pup. Labradoodle Puppy Diets Puppies have lots of growing to do. This means that they need more of certain minerals and nutrients for example calcium and phosphorus for bone growth. Your labradoodle pup will also need a higher amount of good quality protein. This is definitely not the case, though. This—among other things—can cause joint problems, such as hip dysplasia. Labradoodles are a cross between two breeds that are both already at high risk of developing hip dysplasia. The most important thing of all is to avoid overfeeding a Labradoodle puppy, as we will see later in this article. This is called hypoglycemia. Generally, a feeding schedule for your Labradoodle pup can look like this: 2 — 4 months: 4 meals daily 4 — 6 months: 3 meals daily 6 — 8 months: 2 — 3 meals daily Older than 8 months: 2 meals daily. Just make sure to divide the total daily amount onto multiple feedings. You can make slight adjustments to these amounts if your pup is looking a little slim or chunky. The number of calories your pup needs will also change as he or she gets older and heavier. There are a couple of different options out there. Commercial dog foods offer complete and balanced nutrition for your growing pup — this means that they have all the right nutrients in all the right amounts and ratios. If a puppy is fed an inappropriate diet, this could lead to long-lasting growth defects or other malnutrition diseases. Feeding a Labradoodle Puppy Kibble Kibble is the most popular type of dog food out there. There are only two things you need to pay attention to when choosing kibble: It should be designed specifically for puppies, and it should be high-quality. Research shows that higher-priced dog foods tend to have higher nutrient digestibility than lower-priced kibble — so it might be worth spending a bit more. Choose a kibble that contains a meat protein source as the first ingredient, and steer clear of ingredients like corn, soy, and cereals. Due to its high water content, the aromas and taste of the meat unfold better, making wet food the most palatable food there is. This comes at a bit of a cost, though: Wet food tends to be more expensive than kibble, and of course it spoils more easily. To get the best of both worlds of commercial dog foods, you can combine or alternate between kibble and wet food. The BARF diet consists of lots of raw meat and bones, as well as some veg and fruit. Supporters of raw feeding think that it will make your dog healthier, although there is no solid evidence for this yet. Raw meats are often contaminated with bacteria such as Salmonella or Campylobacter. These bacteria could potentially cause diseases in your pup. However, this is extremely rare, as the digestive tract most dogs can handle these bugs just fine. This means that there is a lot less danger of bacterial infections from raw meats. Keep in mind that cooking for a dog is not the same as cooking for yourself. Avoid spices, onions, garlic, cooking oils, and too much salt. These are dogs that will always want more food and are prone to obesity. It can help to space out meals or add one or two feedings a day if your dog is constantly hungry. Another option is to make your dog work for small amounts of food throughout the day — be it with puppy training, food balls, or puzzles. The possibilities are endless.

Goldendoodles sport the signature scruffy Doodle-look with hypoallergenic coats. And their high intelligence levels can leave us completely baffled. So, where can you find reputable Goldendoodle breeders in Virginia and what are the key things to look for? Some offer Standard Goldendoodles while others specialize in smaller, Mini Goldendoodle pups. Unfortunately, Doodle scammers and puppy mills also want their piece of the pie while resorting to unethical breeding practices and borderline torturing the animals. So, how can you avoid supporting a puppy mill and what should you look for in a responsible Goldendoodle breeder in Virginia? Why is that important? Because extensive health testing helps breeders screen the parent dogs for any hereditary diseases, which can be carried onto the puppies. Not only will it cost you a ton of money in the long run, unhealthy puppies with genetic conditions often struggle with pain and severe discomfort throughout their lives. In addition to rigorous health testing, you want to double-check if a breeder provides a health warranty for their puppies. Most commonly, breeders offer a two-year health guarantee for genetic conditions. Keep in mind that even scammers and puppy mills often claim to hold certifications with the organizations we mentioned above. Please be aware of this and always check back with the organizations, as their member breeders are often publicly posted on their websites. Please reload Did you Find Answers Frequently asked questions such as "Do you have any puppies available right now? Do you take a waitlist? Do you know when the next litters are going to be? Will you have litters later in the year? Most of the puppies are being raised in Idaho right now, but we have a couple litters a year in PA right now. We are all blood family members The Power Family. We are a family owned and operated business that has been in business since .Our puppies are socialized by the best kids ever, my granddaughter and my son, plus any friends that come over to play. We breed for health first, then temperament and longevity of life. This is very important to us, since these puppies will become a member of your family, plus be around for many years. Here at Forest Creek Kennels we strive to breed the healthiest pet you can own. We do everything to ensure your pet is healthy and calm. We have researched the background on all our dogs. They all come from high quality bloodlines. Our parents have all passed their behavior test and health inspection from a qualified vet. It is my belief that no matter how gorgeous the puppies are: A cute little teddy bear face or big ball of fluff, the prettiest color or saddest eyes. Well this is all great, BUT what about the personality temperament? What if your new little puppy is shy, unfriendly, scared of every noise or his own shadow? What if he is food aggressive or tries to bite when you take his toys? Well this little puppy isn't going to make anyone in your family happy. This is why our puppies are well socialized with people, other pets, kids, and noises. They must all pass our own personality tests. This shows us where the puppy stands in the litter, dominate, calm, friendly, shy, exploitative, alone issues, this type of thing. It also helps us decide which puppy is best suited for your family. As each mother goes into labor and each puppy is born. I pray over them and ask God to bless them and make them healthy. I thank God regularly for my Kennel and the healthy puppies we produce. I try to pray over my kennels daily, but sometimes life is so busy that I do not get too. As the puppy grows I pray and ask God where each puppy should be placed. So as you can see we go out of our way to make sure you get the best puppy suited for you and your family. Puppies will also be vet checked before they are allowed to leave. Puppies are all microchipped with a paid life membership to buddyid. If you live close enough you are more than welcome to visit more then one time, to get better acquainted with your new puppy. So come join us with all my dogs and puppies, have some fun and meet my animal family. This is God's Kennel. I give all praise, to God for my business, and for my success! They also have a hypoallergenic coat, so dog lovers who suffer from allergic reactions to dog hair would have nothing to worry about with the Goldendoodle. The breeding program is run by two sisters who are passionate about dogs. History The two sisters have been breeding dogs for over twenty years. Although they live in different states, West Virginia and Virginia. They have still been close enough to propel their family business. They take their job seriously and ensure that they raise puppies of the best quality. Also, Family Labradoodles and Goldendoodles have a guardian program with various families in their respective states to ensure the Mini Goldendoodle puppies are raised in a safe home. We also have partnered up with several other high quality breeders that raise mini goldendoodle pups that meet our strict genetic criteria and testing. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. So if you live near Richmond Virginia and are looking for a healthy and beautiful Mini Goldendoodle puppy then checkout our available pups now by Clicking Here. Jim T. Free Bulldog Puppy Starter Kit! Black Tri English Bulldogs are a very rare yet very old color. After the English bulldog breed was outlawed for bullbaiting in the breed came near extinction until it was saved by soon to be exhibitor breeders that had a love for the English Bulldog breed. The first Bulldog breed standard was written in London year .Eventually it was written in the Bulldog breed standard that solid black was undesirable, but not so objectionable if occurring to a moderate degree in piebald patches. Note that black color is not a disqualification. Coat color only counts for 4pts out of points in the AKC Bulldog breed standard. As a result many decades ago show English Bulldog breeders started working to avoid black colors in their breeding program. These colors do still randomly pop up in even prestigious long standing Champion show English Bulldog bloodlines. These colors of Bulldogs have become more popular in recent years. Because the black color is so rare now obviously it is hard to find. Also even though it is considered undesirable it is still a very, very expensive color if it presents its self on a high quality English Bulldog dueto the rareness of the color. Only a couple blue English Bulldogs exist in the whole world and they are extremely hard to produce! Still yet the biggest challenge would be finding a reputable bulldog breeder. These Bulldog breeders are rare, largely because they are subject to criticism among their peers. On the positive note black English bulldogs seem to be very healthy and have minimal skin or immune system issues. Blue bulldog with blue eyes sold to super star Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers! dalmatian golden retriever mix puppy - Labrador Rescue South Africa Who are we? Although LRSA is a breed specific rescue, we re-home many Labrador cross breeds as well as their other breed family companions. LRSA acts as the facilitator between people looking to re-home their Labradors and people wanting to offer a home to a Labrador. On average LRSA re-homes 10 to 15 dogs each week, or over per year. This number is increasing as more dogs are looking for homes due to changes in family circumstances such as divorce, job loss, illness, retirement, emigration or economic restraints forcing people to down scale. Often people do not research the breed before getting a puppy and then find they cannot cope with an untrained, boisterous, landscaping, chewing demolition machine. LRSA covers the sterilization, vaccinations including Rabies and in some cases the micro-chipping of each animal we re-home and rely on donations from both the old and new owners to cover these costs. A number of vets countrywide support us with special rescue rates, but we are battling financially and often donations are not enough to cover these costs. LRSA does not have its own kennels and must rely on a few special kennels that give us reduced rates when they can, but even so kenneling is expensive but necessary when we have to find a safe space for dogs that cannot stay in their homes until re-homed. We have a number of qualified behaviorists who who offer special rates to help dogs be re-homed more easily or with problems settling into their new families. Why Donate? We are completely reliant on donations and none of our volunteers receive any compensation for their time or expenses. All money donated is used to care for our rescue dogs. Labrador Rescue South Africa LRSA desperately needs more special people to offer foster homes or help with home checks, admin or transport. If you are not able to help with your time, please consider making a donation, on a monthly debit order if possible to help us have a predictable fund base to cover costs and allow us to plan ahead rather than operating on a 'wing and prayer' system. Please see our Donate page for payment options We are also beneficiaries of the MySchool Card system and would urge you to please either add us as a beneficiary on your card or to apply for a new card. This is really an easy way for you to help us raise much needed funds. Our future is uncertain as our monthly expenses often exceed our income so we appeal to all our supporters to help us keep this work going and help us save as many dogs as we can. Adoption Information How does it work? What is the Adoption process? If you like the look of one of our rescues and the information provided suits your family situation, please get in touch with us. We often have more information on the dog that we have not shared. As we have the best interests of the dog at heart, please note that after discussions and consultations, we may decide that a certain dog is not suitable for your family and filling in an adoption form does not mean that you automatically will be able to adopt that dog. Once we have your form and have been over it, we will put you in touch with the person responsible for that dog, be it owner or foster home for you to go and meet the dog. We do not have our own kennels and try as far as possible to rehome dogs directly from their old homes to the new one. We also place dogs in foster care if their situation warrants it. One of our Volunteers will be in touch to arrange a suitable time to perform a House Check to make extra-sure that the dog can be handed over to you in good conscience. Something of a tricky process, we know, but we thank you for your understanding and co-operation. What are the Adoption Fees? Labrador Rescue does not charge a set adoption fee and we rely totally on donations. However, in some adoptions, a specified contribution is asked for to cover sterilizations and any other direct costs. This will be discussed with you during the adoption process. This is not negotiable. Donations above and beyond this contribution are much appreciated. Who should adopt? Anyone who is willing to open their home and hearts and who understands that there may be settling in problems but is willing to commit to working through any problems with guidance and help. The adjustment time for new dogs varies so much between dogs depending on a myriad of circumstances, but you should be prepared for a settling in time of between 2 and 8 weeks. If you have the space, time and resources. If you love dogs, have a stable income, safe, acceptable accommodation and want to make a difference — we are definitely interested in hearing from you. Listen to us. We strive to provide as much information about each rescue as possible upfront. Unfortunately, as with life, there are no guarantees. It might all look perfect on paper, but the chemistry is just not there. If you have honestly tried all avenues and it is still not working for you after a reasonable amount of time, we will take the dog back. One of the most important bits of advice we can give is not to take it too personally if the dog does not warm to you immediately. Your home is a new environment for your dog and it will take time for the dog to adapt to you house and your rules and ways of doing things. All we can say is, persevere — ultimately it is worth it. In a perfect world, all of our rescues would be in perfect health. However, there are medical problems specifically relating to Labradors, especially as they get older. We will communicate with you any known conditions or problems. We do endeavour to have all of the rescues looked at by the vets and clinics who work with us, but sometimes this is not possible for logistical reasons. All of our dog are sterilized before rehoming if this is not already done and we also make sure that their vaccinations are up to date. If the vet suspects any underlying conditions, he will let us know and we will pass on this information. Welcome to the homepage of Adamasdor Labrador Retrievers Labradors are at home anywhere, also under the warm South African sun. Adamasdor Labrador Retrievers is home to about 20 Labradors and based on Donkerhoek Farm, approximately 25 km east of Pretoria city centre, still within the Tshwane Metropolitan area in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. We specialize in the breeding of Labrador Retrievers for the show ring, but believe that any Labrador should, primarily, have that typical temperament that sets them apart from other breeds. It is the Labrador temperament that made them famous for being the best companion dog that anyone could ever hope to have. Temperament and Breed Type are therefore the main components when selecting dogs for our breeding programme. We breed on average 2 - 3 litters per year, from which the best pups are selected for becoming much loved pets and show dogs at Adamasdor, or sold to other breed- and show kennels. Most pups are sold to be companion dogs with good looks and typical temperaments. Despite the large number of dogs, we make every effort to provide a true pet home for all our dogs at Adamasdor. The dogs are kept in large areas around our house and only when really necessary e. Every dog receives personal attention and a chance to spend time close to us in and around the house. Dogs are excercised regularly on the farm and get a chance to socialize with each other. Let us introduce you to our companions at home and in the show ring. We publish on these pages a picture and 5 generation pedigree of most of our dogs. We share on these pages our passion for the breed, our breeding policy and we are keen to make you an acquaintance, so please send us an e-mail after your visit.
