It is difficult for a boxer to get their Champion title. For most it takes months and months of showing with a professional handler, traveling all across the country. It takes 15 points including 2 majors under different judges, for a dog to get an AKC Title. If you do the math, it has to be a very special dog to get their title. In order for a Boxer to get one or two points in our Region they have to beat out all the other Boxers competing that day to win those one or two points. A Boxer may have to beat out 24 other Boxer dogs in the show that day in order to get a 3 point "major win". If the sire of the litter is an AKC Champion then, hopefully more puppies in the litter will look closer to how a beautiful boxer is supposed to look. Does that mean every puppy in the litter will be 'show quality' or have potential to be a Champion? Not every puppy will get every good trait from the parents. What does Champion Bloodlines mean? Not a lot. It can mean anything, and the definition is generally left up to the breeder in question. If there isn't a Champion in the parents first few generations then the first quality show dog was probably great great grandparents so by the time you have the puppies in question, it still doesn't mean that they are anywhere near the standard of what a Boxer should look like. Puppies change so much, it is hard for anyone to look at week old puppy and say with absolute certainty that the dog will turn out for show. Many of the breeders advertising these "show potential" puppies aren't trying to lie to buyers, most don't have a clue at what they are looking at. It is normal for male French Bulldogs to go to the bathroom squatting instead of lifting their leg. This is due to their stocky built and their short body. When your dog is marking his territoty or around other dogs it is possible he might lift his leg. Can I place another dog with my Frenchie in the same crate? It would have to depend on your dog's personalities and whether they get along. Another thing to keep in mind is not crating the opposite genders if they are not fixed. If your Frenchie shown any aggression to the other dog it is not recommended you crate them together. However, if they get along well and are best freinds it may be beneficial to crate together to eliminate separation anxiety. Make sure the crate is large enogh for them to be comfortable. Every Frenchie is different and off course they each have their own sets of problems and symtoms, however, as a responsible owner you need to educate yourself on the medication Apoquel before giving it to your dog just like you would with any other medication. There are wonderful holistic vet care facilities everywhere that take a different approach that does not include drugs. This medication works because it suppresses your Frenchie's immunity system so they don't feel the need to itch. The downside is that its a highly addictive drug which your Frenchie will need to rely on for many years, and when you stop giving it to them the symptoms might come back and be worse than they are before starting. Another side effect stemming from Apoquel is constant ear infections. Some dog owners reported cancer after prolong use but there is no scientific research or proof that it causes it. Before starting such a serious medication you can always try a more holistic approach like special shampoos, bath treatments, immunity booster treats, goat milk, supplements, coconut oil etc. Should I give my Frenchie a bully stick? Absolutely not. French Bulldogs are known to choke on bully sticks. Tails are docked and dewclaws removed at just a few days of age, before the nerve endings are fully developed. Discomfort is minimal and puppies are usually sleeping or nursing within a few minutes of the procedure. Dewclaws left intact are often snagged and ripped off, causing considerable pain and bleeding. Boxers with full tails are at a higher risk of injuring the tail, leading to lengthy, difficult healing times and potential amputation as an adult. The Boxer standard states that an undocked tail should be severely penalized. Ear cropping is done by a veterinarian under general anesthesia, between six and twelve weeks of age. Most puppies are up and playing later that same day and show no signs of lingering discomfort from the surgery. Uncropped ears are slightly more prone to infections and are more prone to hematomas.
