The exact appearance of a black and tan Labrador will depend on the specific mismarks they have. These tan markings are most often on the legs, muzzle, eyebrows, and chest. This type of mismark often leads people to compare the black and tan Lab to the Rottweiler breed or the Gordon Setter. However, tan markings can vary from one mismarked Lab to the next. Some may only have a single tan paw, whilst the rest of them is a solid color! Others may have tan coloring in the form of brindling. The only time you will notice extreme differences is when a Lab puppy is not actually purebred. DNA testing is the most accurate way to learn whether or not your Lab is purebred, but you can also increase your chances by getting your puppy from a reputable breeder. Are Black and Tan Labradors Purebred? However, the gene for this coloring is recessive. So, a Labrador puppy needs to receive one copy from each parent in order to show black and tan fur. As long as those two parents are also purebred Labradors, the resulting black and tan Labrador puppy will also be purebred. You can ask to see pedigree papers of purebred Lab puppies. But, it is possible for purebred Labs to have this black and tan marking. As you will now know from the information so far, there are two ways that a breeder will be able to achieve black and tan Labrador puppies. When a black and tan Lab is purebred, they often come about by accident. Other breeders may try to mimic and recreate this pattern by breeding a Labrador with another purebred dog. This could be a lighter colored dog, such as a Golden Retriever, or one with the desired markings, like a Rottweiler or Gordon Setter. Many of these breeders will sell their dogs as mixed breeds. But, occasionally, some may try to pass their puppies off as purebred Labs. The best breeders will prioritise health and proper care over all else — including fur color. Can Black and Tan Labs Compete? Although a purebred black and tan Labrador can be registered with the AKC, they cannot compete in any shows. Their coloring falls outside of the permitted breed standards. In fact, the only mismark that is accepted for show is a small white patch on the chest. A black and tan Labrador can make a brilliant family pet in the right home, just like any other colored Lab. Are Black and Tan Labradors Rare? As we know, a Labrador puppy must receive two copies of the necessary recessive gene to show black and tan coloring. Even then, not all puppies in such a litter necessarily will be mismarked. Or mismarked in exactly the same way. Especially if this description comes with a massively inflated price tag. Reputable breeders will often charge no more for mismarked puppies. In fact, some may even reduce the price of these Labs, since they will not qualify for show. Before searching for a new Labrador puppy, research the best way to find a reputable breeder. Here are some links that will help you:. Find out how we get chocolate, black or yellow puppies and what color pups we might get when we mix Labradors of different colors. Strictly speaking, there are only three different types of Labrador color: black Labs, brown Labs usually referred to as chocolate and yellow Labs. These are the three colors recognized and accepted by the Kennel Club In practice, there is a wide range of shades of yellow Labrador color, from palest cream to richest fox red. But what makes a Labrador brown, or black, or yellow. And what about Silver Labradors? Where does this new and controversial coat color come in to play? Where do Black and Chocolate Labradors come from? The information that determines whether or not your Labrador is basically black or basically chocolate is passed on through a pair of genes. Why black is a dominant color: It is normal for dominant genes to switch off, or over-ride, recessive genes. And that is exactly what happens here. A dog with BB genes will be black, because he has no little b gene, the one that gives us a brown coat. But a Bb dog will be black too, because if the dominant black gene is present, it switches off the brown gene. How chocolate Labradors are made: Even though a dog inherits a little b gene, the dog will only appear brown if no black gene B is present at all. Two black genes BB gives you a black Labrador One of each Bb also give you a black Labrador Two brown genes bb gives you a chocolate Labrador Remember that the black dominant gene always switches of the brown gene, so only the dog at the bottom will actually look brown. Generation after generation of black dogs can continue to have only black puppies if dogs with the Bb gene are only ever mated to dogs with BB genes. Remember, the dog in the middle of our list above will look black, but pass the brown gene on to about half of all its offspring. But things are never that simple are they? Because of course some Labradors are neither black nor brown. The genetic information that creates a yellow coat comes from another pair of genes altogether. And these genes have a different kind of power. The result is a yellow dog But little ee is recessive, and if the dominant E gene is present, it switches off the masking gene. It only takes one big E gene to do this. So the dog will only appear yellow if no big E gene is present at all. There are three possible combinations of eee gene that a dog could inherit. There are nine different possible combinations. Nine different possible Labrador genotypes! The chart below lists them genotype is the genetic makeup, phenotype is the appearance of the dog. When both parents have contributed the gene, the pup has lighter tan colored fur above the eyes, around the muzzle, on the chest and legs. Another gene found in Labradors causes tan speckling on the legs and muzzle; this is called brindle. Black and tan and brindle Labradors can be registered with the American Kennel Club, but they can not compete in the show ring as these colors are considered undesirable to the breed standard. The Guiding Eyes breeding colony has been derived in part from the Whygin Labs, a prominent kennel that was very successful with show and hunting dogs in the s. Some of the black and gene coloring stems from the Whygin line. Because we breed for optimum guide dogs, our primary criteria are confident, easy to handle dogs with excellent health and a sturdy conformation. We do not remove dogs from our breeding colony if they produce these coat colors. These pups have the same temperament and health traits as their solid colored littermates. Additional information on coat color inheritance: Black, chocolate and yellow Labrador coloring are the result of the interaction of two genes commonly referred to as the E yellow gene and the B brown gene. A dog with ee two recessive copies of the yellow gene is yellow. The B gene is turned off. This turning off or hiding the expression of another gene is called epistasis. For dogs with Ee or EE, the B gene is turned on. A black dog results from BB or Bb. A chocolate dog results from bb Another gene present in all Labs is the K gene, which has several variations. KB is responsible for solid coloring, as we see in nearly all Labradors. The most recessive version of K is ky; two copies of ky will allow another gene, A agouti, to express itself in a number of patterns commonly seen in other breeds, such as tan points. A single copy of KB is epistatic to, or sufficient to hide, all the genetic information of the A gene. Nearly every Labrador retriever has two copies of KB. Any of these dogs that are not yellow ee will have tan points. Nope, not a Rottweiler, Doberman or Dachshund! Just an incredibly well-bred Labrador retriever with beautiful coloring. We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. It is recessive and therefore requires each parent to contribute the black and tan gene to an individual for the color to show up. It can modify a black or chocolate Lab to have lighter tan markings in the usual locations of a Gordon Setter, Doberman or Rottewieler. There is also a brindle coloring that Labs can have. We see it less often. Labs with brindling have tan speckling on their forelegs, muzzles and chest. However, they can be registered with the AKC American Kennel Club and these color choices are available on the registration slips. History The Boxer derives from two central European breeds of dog that no longer exist: the larger Danziger Bullenbeiser and smaller Brabenter Bullenbeiser. Bullenbeiser means bull-biter, and these dogs were used to chase large game through the forest. This required a strong but agile dog with a broad powerful jaw and a recessed nose. In England, the Bulldog was the favored breed for the sport, whereas in Germany large mastiff-type dogs were used. Around the s, German hunters began a concerted effort to create a new breed, crossing their Bullenbeisers with mastiff-type dogs for size, terriers for tenacity, and, finally, Bulldogs. The result was a tough agile dog with a streamlined body and strong grip. By , an entirely new breed, the Boxer, had been established. Although the exact origin of the name Boxer is obscure, it may have been derived from the German Boxl. The Boxer was one of the first breeds to be employed as a police and military dog in Germany. By , the breed had become established as a general utility dog, family pet, and even show dog. The AKC recognized the breed soon after, but only in the s did the breed begin its steady rise to the top of the popularity charts, eventually peaking as the fourth most popular breed in America. I haven't been around other dogs since leaving the shelter. I have a playdate scheduled! My mom says I'm like a "bull in a china shop," whatever that means. I just love to play! I complain a little when I have to go in, but I settle down soon after. I'm a strong girl and I love to run around. I just learned ot play fetch with a ball and boy oh boy do I love that game! I love to follow them around. I love to play with them. My foster mom says I'm a 50 lb puppy since I was never really able to be a puppy in my previous home. I'm just learning how to play and I love to play. I am learning how to be a good canine resident and I'm learning the proper place to potty and the proper items that I'm allowed to chew. My forever home should have experience with puppies as I have lots of learning to do. I was at my foster home for Trick-or-Treat and I loved being outside with all the kids that came by to say hi. I loved saying hi back and having so many visitors. When mom and dad said we had to go inside, I sat by the door to watch and see if anyone else was going to come by. My foster home has resident cats and I want to chase them. I'm not trying to hurt them; I just want them to play with me. One of the cats doesn't like me so all I can do is chase him. The other cat torments me a bit so I am playing with her. I'm a very strong, athletic girl but I'm also very clumsy. Since I don't know my abilities, I shouldn't be around kids or pets that won't be able to get along with my strength and size. I am going to be high maintenance until I get into the routine of the home and I know that I'm going to have play time with my humans. There are some lasting scars of the infection but I'm not currently on any medicines for these issues. If I had to pick my perfect family, I would ask for someone that is home during the day so that I can get attention and enough play and exercise. Maybe someone who is retired? Or a stay at home parent with older kids? I really need someone with patience and puppy experience that can work with me to make a wonderful companion. I'm very lovable and I just want to make my humans happy. I can't wait to meet my forever family! Intake info: Twilight was surrendered to BBR from a hoarding situation. Susy Murphy Amanda Jacob Very easy to work with! Perfect way to get the bully breed you love and still supporting adoption? It may no longer be relevant Dash the 2 year old English Bulldog was unfortunately surrendered over to the staff at East Holmes Veterinary Clinic due to bladder stones. Being partnered with East Holmes vet clinic in re-homing dogs in need — they quickly got into contact with us as it was apparent he needed to have surgery immediately. We raced down to Berlin, Ohio and picked up the poor boy. We transported him to our veterinarians at West Park Animal Hospital where he underwent his first surgery. The stones were removed and he went into a foster home with Friendship board member, Amy Richards, and her husband. While he was recovering from his surgery, they noticed he was still having trouble going using the bathroom… A week later, it was back to the doctors. This time they sent him home with antibiotics for a possible urinary tract infection. Things did not seem to be improving despite the treatment. In fact, things seemed to be getting worse! We all agreed that it was time for him to see a specialist. We took him to Metropolitan as an emergency patient. It turns out we were all in for a shock at what this poor dog was enduring. Dash had probably been living with bladder stones for so long that they had completely scarred his urethra. It was at the point where a catheter could not pass through from all the scar tissue. His bladder had swelled to the size of a grapefruit due to his inability to relieve himself. There was only one choice — a very drastic surgery to bypass the scar tissue. They made a completely new urine passage for him so he could finally use the bathroom like a normal dog. It is truly incredible! Dash was now able to go to the bathroom on his own! Their ancestors, however, have a well-documented history and we can discuss this in detail with a lot more confidence. The Golden Retriever Golden Retrievers are now recognised as one of the most popular breeds of all time worldwide. This is down to their handsome looks and their tolerant and loving personality. Developed in Scotland about years ago, they were used as hunting dogs that could excel when tracking prey over land and in water. The Kennel Club in the UK first recognised the breed at the start of the 20th century and they belong in their Gundog group. The Airedale Terrier The Airedale Terrier is far less popular than the Golden Retriever but is no less an impressive specimen of a dog. As with the Golden Retriever, these dogs were well able to hunt confidently over both land and water, giving them a competitive edge in the field. As well as their work hunting, these multi-purpose dogs were employed on farms as general workers who would guard property and livestock, as well as herd the cattle. The Airedale Terrier enjoyed a short-lived peak in its popularity after the First World War, when the people appreciated the brave work it carried out as a messenger dog. Appearance The Goldendale is tall with muscular, long limbs. They are well-proportioned and should not have any exaggerated features. Their skull is medium in size and their muzzle is long and square, ending in a large patent black nose. Their neck is strong and sturdy but not overly wide and their body is rectangular in shape. Their tail is carried upright and may or may not be plumed in fur. Weighing between 22kg and 34kg and measuring from 53cm to 58cm, the Goldendale tends to weigh more than the Airedale but is often slightly shorter. The coat of the Goldendale may be as long and wavy as that of the Golden Retriever but is usually shorter and more wiry. It is a double coat that offers protection in colder weather and allows for quicker drying time after swimming. Potential fur colours include golden, fawn, brown, black and tan. They can be rather independent and need a firm hand and an owner with plenty of patience to keep them level-headed. Bred from hunting stock, the Goldendale maintains its prey drive and enjoys scenting and tracking. Due to this, they cannot be homed alongside pets, such as rabbits. They can, however, do well with other dogs and generally enjoy their company. An individual that needs a good deal of both mental and physical stimulation, failing to provide this results in a chronically unhappy dog that will act out by becoming destructive and badly behaved. Tail chasing, digging and chewing are all common behavioral vices in a bored Goldendale. Trainability The Goldendale is naturally good at retrieving and hunting and will take well to training sessions that incorporate this. They are equally capable of learning a variety of basic cues and are not lacking in intelligence. They thrive on routine and benefit from frequent training sessions that are familiar but also incorporate new material from time to time. The best results will be achieved when training starts from as young an age as possible — eight weeks old is a good starting point! At this age, these clever chaps can be taught simple tasks, such as to sit and lie down, and will respond particularly well when treats are on offer. Health Owners and breeders should be vigilant and watch out for the following health conditions, which are seen with more frequency in the Goldendale than the average dog: Hip Dysplasia The sad truth is that the majority of the taller, athletic dogs are prone to this debilitating condition and it can dramatically affect their quality of life, oftentimes resulting in a shortened lifespan. As we know that it is an inherited condition, it is imperative that breeding stock are screened for it and those that have it are neutered and not bred from. This may seem harsh but it is the best way to reduce the incidence of this potentially devastating disease within the Goldendale population. Allergic Skin Disease Dogs with allergies tend to first present with symptoms between the age of six months and six years. Symptoms can vary but typically include scratching, licking and red skin. For some, their allergy will be seasonal while others will suffer all year round. There are tests including blood tests and intradermal tests , which can be performed to determine what a dog is reacting to. Where possible, the trigger would be avoided at all times. When not possible for example in the case of grass , immunotherapy injections may be recommended to help control symptoms. It is a condition that occurs with little to no warning and a dog that was playing with its owner at breakfast time may be close to death by lunch. Emergency treatment is required to rectify the problem and give the animal any chance at surviving. A good 2 hours a day is recommended once they are fully matured and it is not advised to skip this; even for a day! Inquisitive, these dogs relish any opportunity to be allowed off lead and also benefit from access to a large back yard if available. Keen swimmers, Goldendales will jump into rivers and lakes at any opportunity, regardless of the weather. They are also good hikers and are the perfect companion for those with active lifestyles who like to explore new areas. Grooming These dogs like to shed and they can do so excessively when the weather is warmer. This means that they should be brushed on a daily basis — sometimes even twice a day. It is advisable to brush them outside of the home to reduce time spent vacuuming! Failure to brush them adequately can result in tangles, especially in areas, such as their armpits and groin. Dogs with pendulous ears that enjoy swimming are extremely prone to developing otitis externa ear infections and owners need to be proactive to prevent these from occurring on a regular basis. Ears should be dried thoroughly after any bath or swim. Similarly, owners should clean ears on a weekly basis. At this time, they can also inspect them for any early signs of infection, such as a large amount of wax or reddened skin. User reviews There are no user reviews for this listing. Popular Dog Breeds.

Additional information from Jason Wagler dog breeders Puppy socialization is more than just a fun way to show off your adorable new puppy. Helping your puppy have a variety of positive experiences out in the real world ensures that he has the behavioral tools to happily adjust to whatever life throws at him. Well-socialized puppies grow into confident, happy dogs that are able to adapt to different social environments. Aside from potty training, socialization might be the most important thing you and your new pup do together! Unfortunately, this period of isolation also coincided with a critical puppyhood developmental stage, as pups are most open to novel experiences through roughly 16 weeks of age. The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior AVSAB revised their position statement on puppy socialization over 10 years ago to reflect the fact that puppies are more at risk for behavioral problems later in life than infectious diseases during puppyhood. The revised AVMA statement states that puppies must have a variety of positive socialization experiences before their puppy vaccination series is complete in order to develop important coping mechanisms. Since puppy socialization is so critical for healthy development, pet parents might be tempted to pursue it by any means necessary. This can mean forgetting that puppies should also have a voice during the process. Puppy socialization should always be undertaken in a way that prevents overstimulation, fearfulness or withdrawal. Forcing pups out of their comfort zone in the name of socialization is entirely different from allowing them the choice to have new experiences. For example, if your pup seems nervous about his new playmates at his first puppy class and chooses to stick close to your chair, the best approach is to let him proceed at his own pace. Dropping him in the middle of the action might scare him and make him even more reluctant to engage in future classes, particularly if he has a negative experience. Instead, allow your puppy to meet new people on his own time and on his own terms. Always be prepared to step in if you notice your puppy becoming overwhelmed. Doing so will help your puppy recognize that he can rely on you to keep him safe. Now that you know what not to do, here are some tips for successful puppy socialization. Go to Classes Puppy socialization classes are a fantastic way to kickstart the process. Check into the class size and curriculum before signing up; classes with too many dogs or those that have more playtime than learning can do more harm than good. Invite Friends Once your pup has had a chance to settle into your home, welcome a variety of well-mannered friends over to say hello. Try to include people from all aspects of your social life; senior citizens, children who know how to interact with dogs, people who wear hats or have facial hair or people who are differently abled. Instruct visitors to let your puppy approach at his own pace and give them tons of dog treats to hand out to help your pup understand that new friends are fantastic. Visit Dog Buddies Take field trips to hang out with friends who have older dogs that are comfortable with puppy shenanigans. Keep in mind that not every adult dog can deal with puppy behavior, which is often pushy and inappropriate, so choose friends with tolerant dogs. That way, if your puppy steps out of line, the adult dog can react with a calibrated correction. Quick Errands Public spaces that are dog-friendly but not dog-frequented are great spots for short puppy socialization trips. Thorough puppy socialization helps your puppy adapt to our world in a way that pays off for the rest of his life. Jason, Andy, and Alex were helpful every step of the way. They supplied us with tips, tricks, and even a bit of doggy developmental theory. We quickly discovered that Jason and his team were everything we were looking for in a dogwalker. They left us fun notes after each walk, informing us of Daphne's activities for the day, which were especially helpful for anxious new doggy parents. Jason would also accommodate us whenever we needed late night or weekend walks, and even took care of Daphne when we were out of town for Thanksgiving. More important than any of these detailsDaphne was absolutely in love with Jason and Andy and Alex! When he walked through the door, she would fly over to him, frantically trying to lick his face. While it was certainly comforting to know that Jason was responsible and honest, the real comfort came from knowing that our little puppy was happy and spending time with someone who she loved. We would strongly recommend Jason for any family seeking a responsible, caring, and friendly companion for their dog. We hired him to come in several times a day when we were going through the puppy stage. Jason was great with our little guy Winston and gave us many helpful tips for puppy training. We also left Winston with Jason and his crew on a weekend away. Winston was spotted walking the neighborhood and taking in a sunny afternoon at The Gate with Jason and his pups. We went through a period where Winston required daycare rather than walks due to boredom and mischief during our long workdays. During this time we ran into Jason in the neighborhood and Winston jumped higher than I've ever seen before, right into Jason's arms tail wagging and licking like crazy. That reaction was testimonial enough!! Jason is responsible, trustworthy, caring and will take great care of your pooch! Brent, Ashley, and Winston K. Birdy GoDoG is incredibly reliable as a service for people who love their pets. My insane french bulldog Birdy got long walks with Jason and his other dog walkers, playtime, and all the attention she needed when I was working long hours. Beyond that, she also apparently got training. All I know is that I never taught her "leave it," but it works now because she doesn't eat everything on the street! The most important thing for me was that as an owner--'parent'--Jason was easy and fun to talk to about what's going on! He insisted on leaving a note every day to let me know exactly what happened with her lovely bowel movements! GoDoG rocks! See attached picture.Although I work from home primarily I found myself traveling on business many weeks during the next 9 months and Kate was busy commuting to and working in Manhattan. We highly recommend GoDoG to anyone in the Slope looking for top-notch dog services. We couldn't have found any one more caring and attentive, and supportive! Jason's helpers were also knowledgeable and would let us know when they noticed any change in behavior, or anything out of the ordinary. They were as sad as we were when Julia died. In May this year, we adopted a staffordshire terrier Liza, 18 months old. Jason and his crew superbly handled these two very opposite personalities - a demure and dignified Mina, and an energetic, pushy Liza - each pulling in a different direction. But Jason and company had no problems controlling these two which I didn't doubt for a second. If I got into a scheduling jam, Jason and his team always tried to accommodate us, and the care of the fur kids was always the foremost concern. I am very happy to recommend Jason to anyone who needs a professional caregiver emphasize giver of care for their four legged family members! Hedy Matteson Carew When I moved to Park Slope, I had just recently gone through a break up, was leaving a neighborhood that I had been in for over three years and was very fond of. I ended up in a horrible living situation, my job had me working ridiculous hours and I was completely stressed out. For several months Carew my dog was the best part of my day and life. I was very apprehensive to leave her with someone I did not know at all previously. When I met Jason for the first time I felt completely at ease. It was obvious from the very beginning that he really liked her and was almost just as concerned about her well being as I was. Jason and his crew I think really enjoyed walking Carew and everyday I came home to a note letting me know how well she did, some of the funny things she did that day and the obligatory did she poop or pee or both. They were always very flexible to my schedule which was insane at the time and they really saved the day for Carew on more than one occassion. Since I did have such a horrible living situation I eventually moved back to my previous neighborhood. Carew and I were both really sad to say goodbye to them and we still miss them. When are you expanding to Greenpoint?!!! Jason took the time to meet us before setting up a weekly walking schedule and made us feel very comfortable leaving our dog in his care. We came home each day to personalized messages about Snoop's walks and never felt out of the loop. Jason made himself available by phone at all times and even helped us brainstorm about solutions for our dog's chewing problem and recommended a new type of food that helped with our dog's occasional accidents in the house. Having used other dog walking services in the past, I have never found another that is as caring and attentive as the GoDoG team! He even helped me brainstorm names. It is easy to see that Jason loves what he does and that meant I always knew that he loved Morgan. I never had any doubt that Morgan was in the best of hands. Jason is extremely trustworthy, responsible, thoughtful and gentle. They don't come any better than this, trust me! Jason began training dogs at a young age when he received a mixed breed dog for his sixth birthday. Jason studied engineering and business at SPU where he developed his love of working with people and working within the scientific method. After college Jason pursued a career in the commercial insurance industry. When Jason met his wife Kimberly and began to work with dogs at the commercial kennel she managed, his love for training reignited along with his love for Kimberly. Jason began teaching group obedience and protection classes in after years of study in this area. We will ask the dog for work but the rewards will make the work seem easy. We will use minimally invasive, minimally aversive techniques, and reward whenever possible. We will thoughtfully and progressively apply any correction used to achieve the desired results with the minimum amount of pain and stress to our dogs. Kimberly participated in her first dog show at 13 and has been actively working with and training dogs since .Kimberly attended grooming school and became a certified groomer in .Kimberly groomed all breeds for 10 years and managed a commercial kennel for many years. Kimberly has studied dog breeding, dog training methodology, dog behavior and dog care for her entire life. While her heart is held by the German Shepherd, it is slowly being stolen by the doodles! Training is such a valuable tool to build relationship and trust with our dogs. Kimberly will help you shape the dog in front of you into a reliable, obedient dog who WANTS to obey and work for you. Training isn't easy. Owning a dog isn't for the faint of heart but it is one of the most rewarding experiences possible. You will see them on the training field. We believe in including our children in the learning process. Both the dogs and the children benefit from the experience. Some may say that they would hand over their dogs to new owners while others may have no choice but to look for a new owner. What I want to say is that, there is no right or wrong answer. The film contains a few notable lessons on friendship with dogs and how humans should view them as companion, not just a toy that you can abandon. In the film, Min-soo and Jin-kook embark on a journey to Jeju Island looking for a new owner who can take care of Rooney. On the way, seven other dogs join as two men continuously meet puppies in danger. For example, a pug by the name of Thor is characterized as a dog who is abandoned at a dog shelter with no nails because his owner pulled them off after he kept scratching the floor. Kim Yoo-jung, who makes a cameo appearance in the film as a character delivering an important message to the audience, also stars in the film without pay. The film, originally planned for shooting in , went through various setbacks in terms of casting and investment until it began with a totally new cast member in May, .Kim Da-sol.
What is a Labradoodle? If you haven't already, you will fall in love with this breed! The Multi-Generational American or Australian Labradoodle embodies the courage, Loyalty and Intelligence of a working dog with a magnificent fleece, non-shedding coat that is hypo-allergenic. They were originally bred as service dogs and have evolved to become our most desired family companion. They are athletic, smart, easy to train, and have a life span of over 15 years. Whether you want a sporting dog or a loving and loyal companion, the fun-loving, adventure-seeking, yet mellow Labradoodle will make your family complete. American and Australian Labradoodles can be very different depending on their breeding, and it is important to understand the differences. Just breeding a poodle to a lab or a labradoodle to a labradoodle does not make a quality pet. They are non-shedding with the wonderful Labradoodle temperament, intelligence and laid-back nature. They have been bred to standard over the last couple decades and contain not only Lab and Poodle DNA, but also a controlled mix of American and English Spaniel, which contributed toward the incredible silky fleece coat. F1 1st generation. This usually produces a dog with mild to light shedding. Hair can be long or short, wavy or straighter, and wirey or harsher fleece in texture. First generation Labradoodles are typically high-energy dogs with the great Labradoodle intelligence and are a good choice for a family that does not mind some shedding and high energy. F1B 2nd generation. F1 Labradoodle bred to a Poodle. The F1B Labradoodle is more standard in physical appearance, and more consistently non-shedding. The coat ranges from fleece to wool in texture and can be wavy or straighter. These dogs have the great Labradoodle laid-back temperament and intelligence, and can be a good choice for families that prefer a non-shedding dog. Multi Generational 3rd generation or higher. F1B or higher bred to F1B or higher. Most true to the Labradoodle standard in physical appearance and consistently non-shedding. The texture ranges from fleece to wool and the wave ranges from wavy to curly. It is important to maintain the wider body type and shorter muzzle length. The fleece coat can be very nice, but not as silky as the coat of an Australian Labradoodle. Can't wait for a message to hug one of these adorable puppies? That's Okay, give us a Call at .Contact us today for more information about our family-raised, hypo-allergenic, highly trainable Labradoodles. We started our breeding program with the best bloodlines to ensure we would be producing the most beautiful, intelligent, trainable and lovable dogs possible. We are grateful for the guidance we had when we started and we continue to improve the way we do things through training and education for more than 18 years. It is our dedication to excellence in the way we raise our precious dogs and train them that sets Texas Labradoodles apart. Most of the breeders were breeding true Australian Labradoodles. Since that time we have watched our amazing and magical breed of dogs become a world wide phenomenon with Labradoodles taking over everywhere. From being in the movies to being the number one choice for commercials, print ads and funniest video stars, Labradoo dles are everywhere. With this profound movement of the love of all things Labra doodle, the purity and purpose of what Labradoodles were originally bred for has become convoluted with many types of doodles. The Labradoodle breed itself is be coming a confusing mixture of levels of breeds, types of infusions into the blood lines, etc. Australian Labradoodles are produced when multiple generations of the original Australian bloodlines, Rutland Manor and Teagan Park are bred together. These two kennels began breeding these dogs to create a hypo-allergenic, low to non-shedding dog. These dogs are bred to be highly trainable dog for the purpose of being taught to be guide dogs or therapy dogs for people with allergies. It took these two kennels a lot of work, testing and breeding to get the breed to where it is today. It was not as simple as breeding a Lab to a Poodle, both great dogs, of course, but not a true Australian Labradoodle The importance of adopting a multi-generational Australian Labradoodle If you want a hypo-allergenic, highly trainable dog for your new family member or a dog for therapy work, you want to get a multi-generational Australian Labradoodle. Working with a reputable breeder that has many years of experience and a true love of the breed is important. Make sure the genetic testing and puppy care are done to ensure they are breeding the best and most healthy dogs possible. Dogs that are registered with the ALAA as multi-generational Australian Labradoodles are the most consistent breeding of Labradoodles that you can get. These dogs are going to have a consistent temperament and trainability level. This consistency and care to our breeding program helps our families to know exactly what to expect from their new family member. Clearing our dogs for potential diseases not only ensures that our dogs do not have these issues prior to breeding, it also ensures that we will never produce puppies that could have these diseases. The hip and elbow testing does not guarantee that puppies will never have hip dysplasia, but it is the best method that we have to prevent producing puppies with genetic hip issues. Hip problems are often caused be environmental factors, but culling puppies for breeding purposes helps to reduce the risk of breeding bad confirmation. Temperament, coat and trainability for different types of disciplines are key in our breeding program. Creating perfect family members, guide dogs, therapy dogs and best friends begins with breeding the perfect parents. Years of care and experience have made us experts at accomplishing high standards set by the ALAA and our own personal goals for our dogs. We know that a Texas Labradoodles bred dog is the finest of our wonderful breed and we are so proud to have produced such wonderful companions and working dogs. Please see our references page for more stories and letters from our families. November, .I cannot say enough good things about Mardee and Texas Labradoodles! From the beginning Mardee was very caring and knowledgable on all things Australian Labradoodle. It is clear she and her family love their dogs and take excellent care of them from the very start. She takes the time to match each puppy to their forever home and I scored the jackpot with my Maggie! I could not be happier with her sweet demeanor and easy going temperament. She is super smart, easy to train and equally as adorable. Even after bringing our puppy home Mardee has been a great resource and we are still in touch. I am so thankful to have found Mardee and Texas Labradoodles! Mike Tadlock .October, .Texas Labradoodles and Mardee were Amazing. She helped guide us through the selection process and we could not have gotten a better fur baby than Sadie. If you could meet Sadie and see her with us you would understand. We are obnoxiously crazy about this girl! We know others who have used Texas Labradoodles and they all feel the same. She has brought so much joy and happiness to our home. Paul Chapman 4. We recently welcomed the most perfect medium Australian Labradoodle into the family. I could go on and on about how wonderful this dog is and if you email me I will. That said, I have been equally impressed by our experience with this breeder. First and foremost, Mardee loves her dogs and this breed and that loves comes through in every single interaction and detail. They are true to breed standard. Go through all the appropriate genetic and health screens and, most importantly, are bred and raised in a loving home with plenty of outdoor country air. These dogs are not inexpensive but they are well-priced, given all the time and expense put into raising quality animals in the very most humane and caring of environments. If you want to know what to look for in a breeder - TX Labradoodle is the standard. Chris Monroe .August, .Highly knowledgeable, caring and experienced. Mardee and Bruce patiently answered all of my questions about Australian Labradoodle's and she matched us with the perfect addition for our family. Mardee provided a thorough background and documentation of care, and a detailed checklist for us to take home. June is 14 weeks old now and is everything we imagined and more. June, .TX Labradoodles are truly amazing, full of heart, and extremely knowledgeable! Mardee and her family have become our family! We have the 3 most gorgeous fur babies ever who bring immense joy and love to my life! We consider ourselves beyond fortunate to have crossed paths with Mardee, Bruce, and James! We are forever grateful! We love you tremendously!!! Thank you for making the world a better place with the most extraordinary fur babies!!! Brittany Meuth .April, .My husband and I recently adopted our first puppy from Texas Labradoodles and we could not be happier with our experience! Mardee has remained a resource to us even since bringing Murphy home and could not have created a better experience for us. She is amazing at what she does and truly loves providing families with amazing pets! Steven Roberts .We got 2 girls from Mardee two months ago. The experience could not have gone better. Loving environment, plenty of outdoor room, clean as a whistle and the pups are all we could hope for. No puppy mill atmosphere here. Solid solid folks and superior dogs. And another plus: Wimberley Texas is awesome. Karen Hernandez .I have truly been blessed by the forming relationship with Mardee and MOE. I did not realize how much joy at my age she allows me to experience. She is not my only dog that I share my life with, but she is definitely an exception that I must say is out of the ordinary. Mardee is very responsive and knowledgeable and her understanding of the breed. I can tell she only wants to breed the best genetics and protect the breed from becoming a backyard hobby only to make money. It is nice to see and know how much she strives to improve the breed. I think anyone looking to start or expand their canine family would be truly blessed. Google rating score: 4. We raise high-quality Mini Labradoodles as well as a few other breeds. We take great pride in each and every home we complete with our dogs. We did tons of research. We wanted a dog that did not shed, was hypoallergenic, and had a good temperament. Those dogs are hard to find! We finally came across a very special Australian Labradoodle. We found our Rosie through my best friend who knew the owner of Australian Labradoodles of Texas. Her temperment is what we were really drawn to. She is so calm, obedient, and really wants to please you. She rings a bell when she needs to go outside and walks right next to you on her leash! We feel so lucky that we get to call her ours! To say that Miles has changed our lives for the better would be an extreme understatement! From the moment we set our eyes on him in your videos, we knew he was special, and he has shown us that a million times over. He is a sweet and affectionate dog who loves his family fiercely, acting protective when he needs to, yet demonstrates such a docile and gentle temperament to other people, especially small children who love to pet and squeeze his fluffiness. I had no intention of adding another dog to the mix! After several weeks, I finally pulled the trigger and we brought him home! Charley Brown was the perfect addition to our family and I would recommend these pups to anyone looking for a good family dog. All of our puppies come with Socialization.

Would you adopt a German Shepherd Puppy? Do you have experience with these adorable pups? Let us know in the comments below! He is 7 months old and weighed 85lbs in this picture. He is a German Shepherd. Crixus is the best dog I have ever had. I can't believe how smart he is. Sadly, she passed away shortly after this photo was taken at the age of 8 years. He is a 3-year-old male German Shepherd. The dog on the right is Elsa. She is also a purebred German Shepherd, but due to her coat type her ears were too heavy and just would not stay up. They love to have their picture taken. To make a long story short, the end result was that he had a very large nearly cantalope size splenic tumor which ruptured ultimatley causing his untimely passing. He was playing and being his usual self at 8 in the morning and not even 12 hours later, he took his last breath. This came from our vet. As soon as Ace began to mope around we called our vet right away. They told us to bring him in right then, which we did and they got right down to business. He weighed his usual 90 pounds and had no hight temperature, but was breathing hard and would not move. Our vet examined him and said he was in a very grave state. His gums and tongue were fading in color so much so that she called the emergency vet and alerted them to our impending arrival. We took him there and they too, were on the ball. They did an ultrasound and it confirmed our vet's suspicions. He passed away before the ultrasound was even complete. These tumors grow very rapidly and 9 times out of 10 they are cancerous. We never had the first clue. Our hearts are broken, and we miss him terribly, but if this at least helps raise awareness, then our Ace's loss was not all in vain. We believe that even the most simple things can be made to be enjoyable and unforgettable. German Shepherds are great family dogs or dogs for a couple like us. After a few years of training with Sequoia, we found the most valuable lessons from our in-person and online dog trainer Zack Kiser from American Dog Pros. American Dog Pros is based in California and specializes in obedience training and competitive shows for dogs. Sequoia was the cutest, most tiny little girl when we rescued her at 8 weeks old. She was the cutest German Shepherd Puppy! Can German Shepherds Swim? German Shepherds love to swim, especially our girl Sequoia! Put a life jacket on your German Shepherd for their first few times swimming to help build their confidence. German Shepherds are prone to eye conditions like Pannus which can be negatively impacted by UV sun rays. Dog sunglasses and dog goggles like Rex Specs are helpful tools to combat the UV. We also love using Rex Specs dog sunglasses when hiking in the snow to avoid the bright white glare in her eyes. Another bonus is that you have extra peace of mind when your dog is playing fetch with sticks or running through bushes and brush. Labradoodle puppies for sale are so cute and come in such a wide range of colors that it makes choosing your new best friend super-hard! While spearheading the Royal Guide Dogs Association of Australia breeding program, he conducted the crossbreeding of a standard poodle and Labrador retriever in view of it being a hypoallergenic guide dog for blind people. The first example of this type of dog, called Sultan, went to live with a lady in Hawaii, where other breeders saw him as an inspiration and this is how Australian Labradoodle puppies started. Both the International Australian Labradoodles Association and the Australian Labradoodles Association of America are working hard to incorporate more intergenerational breeding so these dog breeders can register this type of dog as a purebred dog. Its gentle, obedient and intelligent personality combined with a hypoallergenic coat make it ideal for family members with allergies, but it also makes an excellent service or therapy dog. Labradoodle Puppies Lifespan When properly taken care of, healthy dogs tend to live anywhere from 10 to 13 years. The lifespan of our Labradoodle puppies for sale is slightly above average at 12 to 14 years. Here are the life stages of multigenerational Australian Labradoodles: Puppyhood: First five months Adolescence: Between five months and two years Adulthood: Between two and three years Middle age: Between seven years and 10 years Senior: Over 10 years Labradoodles need the most attention and care in the first and last stages of their life. During puppyhood, their minds are highly impressionable, which is ideal for training. During their senior years, Labradoodles are more susceptible to health problems, which means owners need to keep a watchful eye. Labradoodle Size The size of labradoodle puppies for sale directly relates to the size of their parents and which generation of breed Labradoodle breeders chose. The larger the puppies, the larger the adult dog will be, and the faster their growth will be coming out of the puppy stage. A standard labradoodle puppy will weigh from pounds by the time it reaches two months of age. By a year old, it will have grown dramatically to up to 80 pounds, depending on the size of its parents. Medium Labradoodles occupy a spectrum of sizes between standard and mini Labradoodles, with the specifics depending heavily on the details of the breeding pair that birthed them and the breeding program they come from. Labradoodle Puppies Temperament While Labradoodle breeders originally bred the Australian Labradoodles as therapy dogs, their fun, friendly personalities made them popular pets. Now you can find these sociable dogs in homes across the globe. Here are some of the top personality traits of our Labradoodle puppies for sale. They tend to do best in active households where they can work off all that pent-up energy. You can fulfill their needs through the following activities: Walks or jogs: Labradoodles make great walking companions and can even keep up with you during a jog. Playing in the yard: Enjoy a game of fetch with your furry friend in the yard or just let it loose on its own. Dog sports: If you stay active through sports, consider making your labradoodle a part of your routine. Bring it on bike rides, go for a run together or kick a ball around in the yard. Obstacle courses: Set up an obstacle course for your dog using household items. Scavenger hunt: Creating a scavenger hunt for your canine is a great way to exercise its body and brain. In general, Labradoodles need anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes of exercise a day. You can also enroll them later at a Labradoodle puppy alumni school for proper training. Friendliness What makes Labradoodles the perfect puppy compare to other dog breeds is their ability to get along with just about anyone. They inherit this trait from their Labrador retriever parent, a breed also known for its outgoing nature. You can trust your labradoodle to form friendships with everyone, from children and older adults to strangers and other puppies. Thanks to their affectionate, sociable personalities, Labradoodles make great pets for first-time owners, families, or anyone looking for a companion. Intelligence Thanks to their poodle parent breeds, Labradoodles are incredibly intelligent dogs. Because Labradoodles are intelligent, they often crave mental stimulation. Labradoodle Puppies Grooming Our Labradoodle puppies for sale have a variety of coat textures that dog owners enjoy, but in general, their low shedding coat needs brushing at least twice a week. Not only does this keep them tangle-free but it also removes excess debris from their coat, keeping them fresh and hygienic. Regularly trim the hair around their eyes and in between their paws to prevent these problem areas from causing irritation. Pooches with fleece coats tend to have longer fur and benefit the most from going to a professional groomer — although every dog loves getting pampered once in a while. Contact us about availability! Training Levels and Pricing We offer three different levels of training; The Intermediate Level Training program is 5-weeks, at completion, the puppy will be 13 weeks old. At this age the puppies will have been introduced to crate training, and should have very few accidents in their kennel. They should be sleeping through the night hours. The puppies will also be properly socialized to many different sounds, people, places, etc. They will be introduced to all of the commands in the advanced training program however 13 weeks old is still very young and you should not expect a dog at this age to be very reliable in obeying commands; comprehension and proficiency can vary greatly. This level is more for people who are unable to pick their puppy up at the 8 week go home date or are looking for just a little more potty training and have the puppy introduced to the basics. The Advanced Level Training program is our most popular choice. Lasting weeks, at completion the dog is about 4 months old 18 weeks old. The dogs will continue to be socialized properly and learn the following commands: Learn to greet visitors politely at the door no rude jumping or overwhelming your guests. They learn "place" where they go and sit or lie on their bed or mat until told it is ok to get up. No begging is allowed. This is for their own safety, as well as making it more enjoyable to take them places. Travel well in a car. Come Down Stay Walking nicely on a leash. It is never a pleasure to walk a dog who wants to walk you! Our dogs are exposed to a variety of experiences such as swimming weather permitting city environments, country settings, a variety of animals upon request , store field trips, etc. The Premium Level Training program is weeks, at completion the dog is about 5 months old 23 weeks old. This includes all of the training of the intermediate and advanced level but we work heavily on getting the puppy to be more reliable with their basic obedience by adding more distance, distractions and duration too all of the commands. Our dogs practice these commands in various settings so you can rely on them listening to you wherever you are. With more maturity this puppy will be just that much closer towards being house broken. This is the ultimate level of training that we offer for our puppies other than service dog training. From time to time we have dogs ready to go and will price each dog according to its level of training and depending on the temperament and color. We regularly update our available trained dogs! So check back often and contact us for the most up to date availability. If interested in adopting a trained puppy, the next step is to fill out an application. This will help us when doing our match review. You can also reserve a puppy from an upcoming litter or our current litters where available. Once your pup reaches 8-weeks old, they will be enrolled in our training program. Check out our current litters here! He is adorable and perfectly behaved. Slept through the night right away and is doing well with potty training. He follows me everywhere and we love to play together or have lap and cuddle time. Thanks to you and all the team at Lewis Manor for giving us such a special boy. He is the love of our lives. Cathy Good Morning! I just wanted to let you know how well adjusted Murphy orange boy has become here. He is already well potty trained and coming and sitting! Very smart boy and cannot tell you how well matched he is for our family and lifestyle. He loves to play, explore and run but will snuggle whenever anyone wants him to. So glad we found Lewis Manor and will be sure to write a review soon. Murphy says Hi! Your take home meeting really helped us alot. A new breed for us, as you know and my daughter and I keep going back to things you shared last Friday. Extremely well presented helpful information. He is for sure growing and learning and living his best life everyday! Thank you to Lewis Manor for providing us with such a wonderful pup. We are so grateful for her everyday. We could not have asked for a better match. She has grown up to be quite the young lady. We passed the TDI therapy dog test back in November and we visit the hospital every Saturday where she is quite the hit. I literally am just her "driver". To be able to share her personality with the patients and see the smiles that she brings is truly amazing. We also passed the CGC test in February. She loves to train and she's so smart, I look forward to starting Rally with her next. Thank you again for bringing her into our lives. She is the Apple of our eye.Sleeping well from my husband gets her out then back up with me to her crate to sleep til ish. She is so smart and definitely a ball dog! She goes to the back door to tell us she has to go out for potty.Randy and I have been diligent about training potty outside. We love her dearly. Cooper was the perfect fit for my husband and I. We are active but live in a small apartment and his personality is the perfect blend of energy and calm. We enrolled him almost immediately in puppy classes and later advanced training classes. We worked hard together as a team to get our commands down and cooper was always a standout in his classes maybe were a little biased! We are thrilled and cannot thank you all enough for raising such wonderful puppies and matching us with our sweet boy. Thank you. I am amazed how he deals with all the novelties that he experiences. We travel to Brazil and he came with me in the cabin, he is already quite big but behaved like a gentleman, in the airport ,the plane with all the people… He is kind, patient, smart and super loving. Last weekend we traveled on a small plane to our ranch in the south of the country and again he was perfect! We love him. Thank you! Beatriz December Thank you Katherine! I hope you and your family enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday! Shirley is exactly as you described. Sweet, quiet, gentle, laid back and very affectionate. She barked twice when I left the room for a minute which startled me because she was so quiet up until that moment. Peter and I both laughed at our reaction to the sudden, cute barks out of such a quiet, well-behaved puppy! Her new name is Peanut. We decided she was definitely not a Reese, which seemed too harsh a sound for such a sweet little girl. We are both very much in love with her and are grateful to have her in our lives. My daughter, Kady Katharine is very excited to meet Peanut next weekend when she visits us from New Jersey. Training in earnest will begin this week after she has had the opportunity to feel comfortable with her new home. I think I did that to her almost immediately. That was a rude awakening. Thanks again! We are the lucky family who has had the the privilege of having Jethro, our pup from Cocoa and Hero's litter. Jethro is by far the best dog I have ever seen. He has a wonderful temperament. He is very engaged with the family but at the same time very laid back and chill He ended up a bit bigger than we expected 55 lbs but we all agree he has is the perfect size. The only problems we have is that he is so engaging with people that it takes us forever when we take him with us because people stop us constantly to pet him and interact with him. It really is funny. All of that said there is a person in our town who asked me for your information. She went on your website. She was asking me about jethro and his litter. I know that you kept a male and female from Jethro's litter. She was wondering if I knew which dogs were his siblings. I think Moose is his brother but I am not sure. If you wouldn't mind letting me know then I can pass on the information. We are so in love. He is the perfect fit for our family. He is well trained and so sweet. He has all of the best qualities we were looking for in a labradoodle. He is very mellow even for a puppy. Charlie has mastered sit, stay, giving paw, etc. When we come in from the rain, he knows to sit on the mat and lifts his paws for me so I can dry them. The kids even taught him how to high five! He is really gentle and great with the kids. Thank you for raising such a great boy and bringing him to us. You gave us the perfect labradoodle for our family. I also wanted to thank you for being so incredible. From the first phone call, to the weekly updates and videos, to answering all of our questions and delivering Charlie, you have been awesome. You have such a great family and we enjoyed getting to know you. Keep in touch! Phineas was from Saffron's August 21st litter and will be turning a year old soon! Time flies so fast! Phineas has been doing amazingly well and he loves everyone and everything he meets. Your description of him as a puppy was completely spot on. He is never scared, and always confident in new situations. I chose to have him neutered at a different vet practice than we usually use so that he would not have any memory of bad experiences at our vet. As a result, he loves going to the vet and has no bad associations. His service dog training is going great as well! He has learned to alert to random oncoming panic attacks as well as respond to these attacks when they happen. I could not be happier with him. He is truly a special dog. Here are some pictures! Lizzie July Hi everyone! I'm writing to update you on Dexter and to thank you so much for all the great work you did raising him for the first 8 weeks of his life! He was so well crate trained from night one, and he's doing great on his house training. He's making lots of friends at his puppy classes and the puppy park, and he's even part of a play group of labradoodles that he met at puppy kindergarten - he loves everyone he meets, dog or human, and they love him too! He's such a smart little guy, and we can't imagine our lives without him. We're so happy in our choice to go with Lewis Manor Labradoodles, and you were all so helpful and kind every step of the way. Thanks again for all of your help and time! He's a quick learner, sweet, active when we are and docile when the family is just relaxing. We have two little boys ages 3 and 2 and they couldn't have more fun altogether. He's gentle and playful with them. We are a dog family, and he's the best we've ever had. We'd always been lab owners, but a doodle is the best of both worlds. Love of water, temperament and the intelligence of a poodle! My father just came from Colorado, and is on the waiting list for the first available Lewis Manor Labradoodle! Hare Family June Hi everyone! We just wanted to give an update on Ruger. Coco Puff- Brown Boy He will be 6 months tomorrow. He is doing absolutely great! He follows me everywhere!!! They love each other so much. He loves getting on the trampoline with her! He knows sit, stay, down, roll over, spin, high 5, shake, go find and newest trick is to shut doors! His most favorite thing is bye byes, he loves going for car rides. We couldn't imagine our life without him, we are so much in love with him. Thank you for giving us the best dog ever!!!! We did a lot of research before selecting Lewis Manor because we were very concerned with getting a dog with calm temperament, as we have small grandchildren. Katherine was very responsive and couldn't have been more accommodating. We trusted her judgement in picking the right puppy for us, and to say we are pleased with the result is an understatement! We call our black doodle "Spooky" because you can't see her in the dark! She is gorgeous, friendly, smart, great with the kids, follows commands easily, affectionate, and is everything Lewis Manor said she would be. Her trainer, Erica did a fantastic job. Everyone who has met Spooky has fallen in love with her, and are amazed at how calm and compliant she is. We would highly recommend Lewis Manor Labradoodles to anyone looking for an outstanding family pet! I just wanted to touch base with you and tell you how much we love and adore Maui. He is an amazing puppy and so smart and lovable. We feel blessed to have him and thank you for breeding such amazing dogs!!!! Hope this finds you all well. What an incredible dog we have. Everyone who meets him says the same. My mom, a former non- dog lover, just can't get enough of him. He is so sweet , smart, healthy, well-behaved and lovable. Kudos to wonderful breeding! Hope things are well! My daughter and I love checking in on your site to see new litters! We see there is a litter due today and two next week! Good luck! Can't wait to see the pics! Bruin Family March Hi Katherine! It's been a while but I just wanted to check in and let you know our boy Storm Lilly's blue stripe born May 28th is doing great and is the most handsome, loveable, amazing, most well behaved pup in the world. We really can't believe it, he is soooo good and soooo smart and he does not leave my side! We are all very smitten and are so happy he is a part of our family. I've enclosed a couple of pictures because he is way too handsome not to show off! He's now 9 months and weighs about 30lbs! Thanks for the best dog we could have ever imagined! It's been about a month since we have brought Orso home, and we are absolutely in love with him. We couldn't be happier. You guys do an incredible job with your dogs and it shows!! Just wanted to drop in a quick hello and let you know how fantastic things have been. I've attached a 12 weeks "old" photo of our boy. Have a wonderful weekend and we will be in touch soon! Jax's first day at the beach. Loving life. He's a good one! He has seen a vet.Just wanted you to know that he is wonderful and happy and the best dog ever. Please hug Cleo and Boomer for me. At nearly 7 months he weighs .Thanks so much again for the most amazing dog and please hug Cleo for both of us! He is everything you described and absolutely perfect. He is thriving in the city. All the sights and sounds aren't phasing him one bit! Its like he lived here all his life. Everyone adores him and gives him a pat on the head as they pass by, and there isn't a person on this earth he doesn't like. Our other dog Trevor the Maltese immediately accepted Phineas and they play all day. We were so surprised at how well house trained AND crate trained Phineas was when he got here. He has had few accidents you can count on one hand.He is amazing in his crate, and is now sleeping through the night! We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful little pup. We have him getting his second round of shots in the next few weeks early November. I'm looking forward to training him as a service dog and know he will be a blessing in my life. Bill and I were prepared for nights of endless puppy whines and cries but she settled right in from the first night. She's a very sweet little girl. Thank you for all that you do for the puppies to get them ready for their new homes. I've attached a couple pictures of her. Culton Family October I don't know where to begin.Harley is JUST beautiful. Her pictures did not do her justice. The family is in love and Harley seems to be happy. I love him so much! He's the sweetest cutest craziest little furry thing and everyone who meets him falls in love! He's Amazing. Gannon Family September I hope this email finds you all well. We wanted to brag a little and let you know how well Ruari is doing. He just finished obedience school tonight and thought we'd share all the ribbons he has won over the past eight weeks. We couldn't be happier with the new addition to our family. He is such a nice dog and training very well. He loves to get up and play in the morning, and take naps on our floor during the afternoon. We bring lots of water for him to drink, and help keep him cool. He loves all our neighbors, and met our niece for the first time this week too, and was great around the baby the whole time. Anyways, we both wanted to let you know that we love Chewie very much, and to thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog! Today our little Rudder had his first birthday! We can't possibly tell you how he's changed our lives and made us more happy than we ever dreamed! Thank you again for such a well bred little wonder dog! Not a day goes by without someone asking who his breeder was! We are very very thankful to you both. She truly has exceeded my expectations for any puppy. She has gone into her crate on her own each night without a peep, 10pm-6am, and no accidents. We only have to give her a stern stare and she flops away from the door! She gets extremely excited when she meets a few excited children at once and will dribble. That has been it. I am floored at how bright she is, as was the vet at her check-up today. In fact, she grabbed her leash and signaled for the door to go potty. She has been doing this regularly and it has only been 3 days of torrential rain since we have gotten her! We are going to give her a door bell to ring. Her temperament with my three children is extraordinary! She has never made one peep when picked up by my six year old, wrapped in blankets, etc. It is clear you all did a great job with these pups, worked with them and set boundaries for them. We literally get questioned constantly where we got this dog, not only for her gorgeous looks and eyes, but for how well-behaved a puppy she is. Sienna is truly a special puppy and we are so grateful she is part of our family. I am so glad I found you and chose Lewis Manor. We have every intentions of continuing the training you started! She absorbs it so easily. Rachel A Facebook comment We just wanted to write and thank you for everything! Pavlov aka Lavender girl was so calm on the ride home Friday night, she slept nearly the entire way I say nearly, mostly because the customs officials at the border wanted to pet her! It was past her bedtime when we got home, but she settled in to her crate with a single yip and proceeded to promptly fall asleep. I was a bit concerned about how she would adjust to living in a condo downtown, in the Capitol, after her idyllic upbringing in your home. She didn't bat an eye at the concrete, and when we go for our mini walks, she sits whenever a person is approaching and waits for them to come say hello! Indeed, Lorne and I have become the most popular people in our our building as everyone who sees Pavlov has constructed elaborate excuses to come visit with her.We haved passed along your name to a number of inquiring individuals already! By the end of our last journey outside before bedtime on Saturday night, she got off the elevator and upon hearing: "go home", she made her way, unassisted, to the front door of our condo I won't tell you how long it took me to master the same trick.Indeed, her first weekend with us was far from ideal as it coincided with the Capital race weekend I understand that it is the largest race in North America, and coincidentally, the course ran along our side of the condo building , Pavlov seemed nonplussed by the noise from the masses of people with bullhorns, cheering, clapping, etc. .She is here with us today at Lorne's office aka my private practice and already has adoring fans, she was referred to by a patient as "the Mascot". We start puppy kindergarten tomorrow so that we can carry on with all of the training and socialization you started. All this to say, thank you for all of your hard work, dedication and patience; it certainly shows in Pavlov! I am experiencing the result of the socialization they did. My mom raised Labradors the top kennel in the country at the time Whygin Kennels. I have been researching Labradoodles for a long time. My daughter is allergic to dogs so the only dog I considered was a Labradoodle. There are many different ones so you have to be careful. Without telling you what you may already know, I will be happy to answer any questions you still have. Most importantly, talk with Katherine. She is a breeder with absolute integrity. I had to put it in to relax! He has learned the flags in 5 minutes! I have a big fenced yard but there are escape spots for a smart Labradoodle that the Frenchies never bothered with. I am continually amazed at how quickly he learns new things. .He truly is so balanced. When i look at him he always says the same thing to me, "Life is Good! We love him to pieces. He has had a few play dates and continues his school weekly. Long fun walks and his antler to chew on and being right with you and he's happy. Murphy really liked the treats. We are very happy with Murphy. He is a lovely pet - smart, social, playful, cuddly and stays close to home. I have attached a few photos so you can see his progression. He is now about 45 lbs. I believe we explained that we live on a lake and have acres of forested land across the road from our lake house. Murphy has really taken to the country life. He likes swimming, chasing squirrels, visiting the neighbours, boat rides and bonfire nights. Now that it is winter, we go snow shoeing every day for an hour or two and he runs around off leash. To get him used to other dogs we joined a training group this month and he we are doing great. I should mention that we had him fixed in October. So, we are very pleased with Murphy. We often have family and friends with us on weekends and holidays and everyone loves him. Our neighbours have adopted Murphy and will keep him anytime we are away travelling. He is a very lucky dog.Thank you again.Des and Natalie Bradley ".Tucker has taken a new job for himself. One morning when he and I went out to get the paper, he picked it up. Since then, he's insisted on carrying it. Yesterday it was the mail. He doesn't drop it, and relinquishes it intact when we ask. So now he's a busy boy, as he's also sentry for the squirrels.Truly, Athena has changed my life, and I love her so. Her temperament, intelligence, and sweetness is beyond measure. She is constantly stopped on the streets of Brooklyn and praised, and of course, I just have your email ready to give out!!! Again, thank you. She is such a sweetheart and so much fun to have around. Her antics keep us all amused. She is so easy- going and very smart. I have been so impressed at how easy her training has been. We can't thank you enough for such a wonderful puppy. The Caines Katherine, Boomer is fitting in well in our household. He has been nothing but sweet and fun to have here. Thank you for raising him for the first impressionable weeks so well. It surely shows how well adjusted he is at just 10 weeks old. Haley would like me to add, that he is the perfect pet for our family. She loves him very much. He's about 20lbs at this point. He's a very smart dog! He's learned a number of tricks! Sit, down, roll over, shake, high five, touch, spin, up, wait and working on pray. He sleeps in his crate nicely and does a nice job of letting us know when he needs to go out! He's great with other dogs. At his puppy obedience class he even helped an uncertain German Shepard puppy move out from under a chair and socialize with the group. He adores people, particularly children. He's wonderfully fluffy and soft. We really enjoy having him! I wish I didn't have to go back to work and could spend all my time with him! Life Span Did You Know? A Labradoodle is a popular designer dog breed. It is a cross between a Standard Poodle and a Labrador Retriever. This designer dog breed originated in Australia around .The main goal of the Labradoodle was to create a hypoallergenic guide dog for people living with disabilities who were also allergic to dog fur and dander. Now, they are still a popular choice for service, guide, and therapy dogs and are also a popular companion dog. Labrador Retrievers and Poodles are both friendly, gentle, intelligent, and affectionate dog breeds. The Labradoodle tends to be similar. They are open and friendly and crave human attention and affection. They are happiest when they are with people. Labradoodles also tend to have an energetic and playful personality. They get along well with children, other dogs, other pets, and strangers. They are alert enough to bark or let you know when someone is at the door, but they are not generally good watchdogs or guard dogs as they are more interested in making friends. A Labradoodle is a highly adaptable dog breed. They do very well in homes with space to run and they can adapt well to apartment living as long as they are given plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. They also do well in most climates. As with any dog breed, they are sensitive to extreme heat and cold. Because they enjoy being around people, they do not generally like to be left alone for long periods of time. They can also become bored if not given enough attention, exercise, or mental stimulation, which can result in destructive behavior. This dog breed is generally healthy, but they do have the chance of inheriting common health conditions from both of the parent breeds. Some health conditions to be aware of include elbow and hip dysplasia, ear infections, progressive retinal atrophy, hypothyroidism, and epilepsy. Good breeding practices can reduce the likelihood of passing on many of these health issues. Be sure to talk with the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and ask to see any health clearances; this can help allay potential health concerns. A Labradoodle tends to be eager to please and highly intelligent, which makes them highly trainable. They are a good fit for dog owners of any experience level. As with most dog breeds, Labradoodles respond best to training that is consistent and uses positive reinforcement. There are some grooming tasks that are common to every dog breed. When it comes to coat care, it can vary with a Labradoodle. Poodles have a low-shedding coat that is also high maintenance in terms of brushing, trimming, and professional grooming. Labs tend to have a higher shedding coat that needs minimal brushing and grooming. For the most part, a Labradoodle will have a low or non-shedding coat that will need to be brushed a few times a week. But, they can have a higher shedding coat should they take after their Labrador parent. You may also need a few professional grooming sessions throughout the year. Nail trimming once a month is usually enough to keep movement comfortable and prevent longer nails from snagging on things. Proper dental care for your dog will help prevent gum disease and tooth decay. Drop-down ears are more prone to infection because floppy ears are more likely to trap moisture, dirt, and debris. This will make grooming throughout their life a much more enjoyable process for both you and your dog. It can even become a bonding time for you both as well. Labradoodles tend to be high-energy dogs. They require a few daily walks plus some time to run and play in order to stay happy and healthy. They certainly love to play and you may tire out before they do sometimes. They may calm down a little as they get to be a couple of years old, but they tend to be quite energetic as puppies. Going swimming with your dog , taking a hike with them, going on a trip to the dog park, playing a game of fetch, and more are all great supplemental activities to ensure your Labradoodle gets plenty of exercise. You can even train them to compete in dog sports like dock diving, flyball, agility, obedience, and more. A fully-grown Labradoodle will usually stand between 21 to 24 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 50 and 65 pounds. Labradoodles generally live 12 — 14 years. However, it did not become popular until when the mix was specifically bred to create hypoallergenic guide dogs. Featured Labradoodle Article. We also offer older trained pet puppies!!! black labrador puppy price in pune - A combination of two of the above Any of the above with brindle markings As for other physical characteristics such as head shape and body type — those can go either way. Fortunately, it should be relatively clear early on whether the dog has a flatter brachycephalic muzzle or not. So, a Mastador can either be more social or more aloof around strangers. Proper obedience training is also a must, especially with such large dogs. Fortunately, both parent breeds respond well to training even if bullmastiffs are a bit more stubborn than labs. The good news is that this crossbreed is always good with kids. That is, as long as you keep in mind that large dog breeds have bad special awareness and can knock a baby accidentally. So, adequate supervision is still recommended. Another good thing is that the bullmastiff in your Mastador can be less prone to separation anxiety than a standard Labrador. While Labradors are highly energetic outdoorsy animals, bullmastiffs tend to be more chill and prefer to spend their days indoors. So, a Mastador can go either way here too. If your crossbreed pup takes from its lab parent it will need a couple of hours of active outdoor exercise each day. After that, it will also need some outside time in a well-fenced yard. However, if your pup is more mastiff-like, it will still need hours of outdoor time but it will be more chill about it. Either way, proper exercise is a must if you want your dog to grow up healthy and happy. As a crossbreed, the Mastador can either inherit all the healthy and beneficial physical traits of both its parent breeds or all the negative health predispositions of both. Or, usually — a bit of both. You want to always work with reputable breeders who go the extra mile to breed only healthy dogs. You should always ask for health certificates too. The biggest Bullmasadors weighing in at pounds need more food than most fully-grown men. At pounds, your Bullmasador will need approximately calories each day. This will reduce the total amount of food your dog eats, saving you money in the long run. Because of this, they need plenty of exercise. If you skimp out on the physical activity, you can expect your dog to become destructive, which can be seriously detrimental with a dog this size. This is also a great way to improve your bond with your dog. Remember, these are family-oriented animals and they want to spend as much time with you as possible. Aside from structured exercise like walks and playtime, your Bullmasador needs some space to run around and expel energy on their own. Instead, these dogs should be kept in houses with plenty of space and big yards for them to run around in. On the other hand, these are very large dogs that require a firm hand for training. They also need bathing more than most breeds; about once a week. Another thing to note with Bullmasadors is their ears. Once you finish cleaning them, make sure to dry them out thoroughly with a dry cloth to ensure that no moisture is left behind to become an ear infection. But on the other hand, mixed dogs are often healthier than their purebred parents. Such is the case for the Bullmasador. This breed is quite hardy and not at risk for quite as many health problems as its purebred parents. Minor Conditions Arthritis : Basically, arthritis is when the joints begin to degenerate, causing them to become inflamed. Like with dysplasia, arthritis is most common in larger breeds. Bullmasadors are less likely to develop arthritis than their Labrador Retriever parents who develop it commonly. The warning signs include panting, drooling, rapid heart rate, dry nose, blood from mouth, bloody stools, muscle tremors, and being warm to the touch. Ear Infections : Ear infections are one of the most common health problems that affect dogs. The stomach can then flip , further restricting blood flow to vital organs, even going so far as to stop the heart. Dilated Cardiomyopathy: In basic terms, cardiomyopathy is when the muscle of the heart degenerates and thins out. Once the walls of the heart are thin, the blood pressure causes them to expand and stretch, which results in the heart becoming larger. In some dogs, congestive heart failure may follow rapidly. Signs include weakness, collapse, coughing, decreased appetite, and weight loss. As a result, they rub on each other, causing the cartilage to break down. This causes pain, reduced movement, arthritis, and eventually lameness. Studies have also shown that overweight dogs are more likely to develop hip dysplasia. This can cause weight to be distributed abnormally across the joint, resulting in pain, arthritis, and lameness if left untreated. Male vs. Female The first notable difference between males and females is their physical size. Bullmasadors of any sex can be as small as 70 pounds, but only a male will reach impressive sizes of pounds. Females top out around pounds. Likewise, males can be a full 29 inches at the withers while females rarely crest 25 inches. Males are actually more likely to develop dilated cardiomyopathy. These dogs are incredibly loyal, family-oriented dogs. They are gentle and loving with their family members, but watchful and reserved with strangers. Despite their large size, these dogs are great with children, taking care to be extra gentle with them. But keep in mind, you need a large yard and plenty of space to keep one of these massive canines, plus an extra 30 minutes to devote to their exercise each day. Perfect as watchdogs or family companions, the Bullmasador is the epitome of a gentle giant. Their intelligence makes them easy to train and their friendly demeanor endears everyone to them. Once you add one to your family, your life will never be complete without one again. Mastodor or the Mastador Labmaraner mix dog. The appearance of this crossbreed dog depends on how much it inherits from each parent breed. The Mastador will normally have a solid and muscular body like the Mastiff, a broad head like the Labrador Retriever, and a short-length, shiny double coat. The Mastador dog is energetic and muscular therefore early behavioral and socialization training is strongly recommended, for this Mastiff mix, to enable it to show its protective nature, in a positive way. A Mastador puppy is a stunning example of a crossbreed dog. A brief history of this mixed-breed dog A Mastiff Lab mix is a cross between a purebred mastiff dog and a purebred Labrador Retriever dog. There are at least 18 different types of mastiff dogs. Did you know that the Great Dane dog is actually a German mastiff? While in England he was so impressed with the strength and protective ability of the English Mastiff that he took some back to Rome and began breeding them as guard dogs and fighting dogs for blood sports. They were even used to fight Gladiators. After several generations, the Bullmastiff was officially recognized as a purebred in the s, in the UK, as a dog breed in its own right, and then in , by the American Kennel Club AKC in the United States. It is gaining in popularity as a purebred and currently is ranked the 51st most popular dog in the United States by the AKC. These two different Mastiffs are similar but with a few noticeable differences: The Bullmastiff is slightly smaller than the English Mastiff, although both are still huge dogs. The Bullmastiff is more independent, not as needy as and more stubborn than the English Mastiff. This Mastiff purebred dog is a massive, heavy-boned dog with a symmetrical build and a short, double coat. It is patient and loyal and will make a great companion or family dog, but it will be wary of strangers. With its big sad-looking eyes and wrinkled face you will just want to give it a big hug, and probably get a big lick in return! Mastiffs typically have a coat color of apricot, fawn, or brindle with a black mask, and big feet! It has a solid double coat in one of 3 colors; pure black, chocolate brown, or yellow. The Lab is a loveable dog breed for any experience of dog owners. The Labrador Retriever dog breed is from Newfoundland, Canada, and was used by fishermen to retrieve their fish from nets and catch any that escaped back into the sea. They are good swimmers and have a gentle mouth grip that will not further destroy any prey they are ordered to retrieve. This dog breed came to Great Britain around , to be used as gun dogs for retrieving waterfowl from land and water, in Scotland and England. The lab is a gentle, fun-loving, and loyal family dog with an easy-going temperament. A Labrador Retriever Puppy is just adorable, and when trained and socialized it can be trusted around anyone. Meet the offspring: The Mastiff Lab mix The designer dog offspring of these two purebred dogs is a Mastiff Labrador mix — the Mastador puppy. Designer breeds gained popularity in the United States during the s and this increased demand and popularity for cross-breed dogs such as the Mastiff Lab mix. The Mastador puppy is a hybrid, and as a mixed-breed dog it is not recognized as a breed in its own right, by the American Kennel Club; nor can it be awarded pedigree papers. The Mastiff Lab mix — Colors and pattern As the Mastadoris a cross-breed dog, its appearance will be more difficult to predict than a purebred dog. However, considering the parent breeds there are only a few likely coat colors including Brown, Black, Yellow from the Labrador and Fawn, Red, or Brindle from the Mastiff mix. Occasionally, but rare the coat color can be Silver or Charcoal Gray. The coat of the Mastador breed is likely to have one solid coat color, but if light-colored or brindle it may have the classic black mask and it can have a white chest and white paws. The Mastador dog is not hypoallergenic and will shed moderately. What are the main characteristics of a Mastador? Any crossbreed dog, like the Mastiff Lab mix, could inherit the characteristics and the health problems and health concerns of either parent breed; or perhaps the best of both and be stronger and inherit fewer health problems than their parent breeds. With any mixed-breed dog, you just have to wait and see how it turns out, however you know that this pooch will be a big one! Mastador puppies are likely to inherit the kind Labrador face and the solid body of the Mastiff, and big floppy ears. This large dog is courageous, confident, and smart, and also loving and affectionate. It will show great loyalty to their dog owner and family member. It will be a physically active dog and just want to play or hang out with you. Reputation: Any Mastiff mix dog has an image of a fierce guard dog, but proper behavior training and socialization will control its protective nature. The Mastador will act as a family watchdog. Trainability: Mastiff mix puppies need to be trained and socialized early. Mastiff Lab mix puppies will be strong and protective so they must learn control and discipline. The Mastador Breed is smart and tolerant so training should be fairly easy, providing you keep it interesting. They can be stubborn so training needs to be varied and fun. Positive reinforcement and reward-based training are recommended for this large dog breed as is very confident, and strong-willed. Mastiff breed mix puppies should be trained slowly and never negatively punished, challenged directly, hit, or locked up for misbehavior. Always reinforce change gradually and praise good behavior and learning. The Mastador is an active dog, so the puppy will need one hour of daily exercise and playtime, building up hours a day in adulthood. Remember, this is likely to grow into a very large dog, so they should not be over-exercised as a puppy while their bones are still growing, as this can damage their developing bones and joints. Power and intelligence: Labrador Retriever mixes are intelligent, curious, and energetic. The Mastador will be a fast learner but could be stubborn and aloof, so they will need to be trained and handled properly to be able to socialize and behave to command in public places. Mastadors love activity and challenging playtime with their family; Fetch the ball or Frisbee, puzzles, or interactive chewable toys. This pooch will grow into a powerful and heavy dog so its exercise needs and strength should not be underestimated by any potential dog owner. Socialization: Early socialization dog training and discipline are strongly recommended for Mastiff mix dogs. The Mastador has two high energy parents and one is a powerful guard dog. Labradors have a soft delicate bite but the Mastiff has a powerful jaw and less delicate, so the Mastador will need to learn to control its protective nature and muscular strength. Gently discipline and obedience training should start early to help this huge puppy to become well—behaved and gentle with other dogs and children. Purpose: Mastadors are sensitive and can be quite shy. Behavior: A Mastiff Lab mix generally inherits the best of both. Young children should be careful when playing with this big dog, and not allowed to treat it roughly. It could turn aggressive if mishandled so play must be supervised and respect shown to the dog. A Mastador is quite docile and not a barker but it will be wary of strangers and therefore makes a good guard-dog. Physical Characteristics of the Mastador The Mastador has a deep chest, strong legs big brown expressive eyes, a medium muzzle, with a long tail. A Mastador will live on average, between years, and a litter size is usually between puppies. Coat: A short, dense but silky, double coat, moderate shedder; not hypoallergenic. Temperament: Mastadors learn easily and try to please. They are generally friendly with a gentle nature but bore easily and may refuse to cooperate. They are born protectors and will guard their territory, so they must be trained and socialized early. How should you train a Mastiff Labrador Retriever mix? This breed should be trained gently, slowly, and with consistency. The boundaries need to be set early for this powerful mixed-breed dog. Fun and positive reinforcement and reward-based training, especially small food treats work best. Never hit or raise your voice to this breed during training as it may challenge or rebel and refuse to cooperate further. Types of training required: obedience, discipline, agility, and socialization. So, if you are not going to use a professional dog trainer: 1 Develop basic command words: Stop, Sit, Down, etc. This huge dog will try to dominate and this must be controlled early in training. This will eventually become its nest and it will sleep there. Eventually, the puppy with your help will learn where and where not to go. They will eventually become creatures of habit and regulate their need and place to use. Health problems and health issues What health problems can a Mastiff Lab mix suffer from? Hip Dysplasia and elbow dysplasia — common in many large breeds. Hip dysplasia is a malformation of the hip joint, where the ball at the top of the leg does not fit properly into the socket and the ligaments attaching it are weak. This allows excess movement of the fitting which can eventually lead to stiffness and pain for the dog. Bloat — any large dog that eats quickly or drinks a lot before exercising can suffer from bloat. This dangerous excessive gas build-up can cause the stomach to twist and damage other organs. Cataract eye disease — is a clouding over of the vision. Brachycephalic syndrome — breathing difficulties, due to the shape of its nose and restricted airways; Pugs and Boxer dogs have similar problems. Other health issues include ear infections, bone cancer, and heart problems How do you care for a Mastador dog? Exercise needs A Mastador is outgoing, but not overly energetic so its exercise needs are low. They will enjoy walks and freedom to play. One hour a day of exercise is enough for an adult. Feeding Feed as a large-sized dog, around 3 cups of Kibble dry formulated food per day, fed twice a day and slowly to prevent bloat. Grooming needs The Mastador has a short but dense double coat and only sheds moderately, so you can be the groomer and brush every days. Bathing This large dog does not need regular bathing, only when required. Certain dog formulated shampoos have a double effect of cleaning the coat and protecting it against fleas and insect bites. Cleaning teeth, nails, and ears As with all dogs, their teeth need to be cleaned regularly to prevent a build-up of plaque. Chewing breaks down plaque, so use doggie chew-toys, bare-bones and soft toothbrushes, and toothpaste. Nails grow quickly and need trimming regularly, say monthly, and their floppy ears need to be checked for debris that could cause infection. Lifestyle This breed is affectionate and loves company. It is a great family dog and will be happy living in an apartment or house with a big yard as long as it is with you They can be stubborn and aggressive until trained. They will chew things if bored or left alone for long periods of time, so keep stimulated and busy. Chew toys can help with boredom. This breed is a natural watchdog that will act on instinct to be very protective of its family. Positives and Negatives of ownership Positives. The Lab crossed with Mastiff has a natural smooth coat that is low maintenance and will only need moderate brushing. Brushing helps spread natural oil to their coat and removes loose hairs to promote new hair growth. However, they are not hypoallergenic which is why vacuuming your home once in a while is a must. Bathing them can also be challenging due to their large size. Imagine, having to wash a to a pound dog! The shower should be done in your backyard using a water hose. If possible, you may take them to a professional groomer instead that has a designated facility for bathing larger breeds. Their oily skin coat makes it easier for them to remove dirt and water. You may take your dog out for a swim instead or splash in the water. Ideally, a monthly bath is good enough for this hybrid. Make sure to clean their ears regularly to avoid infections. They love playing in the water, and their long droopy ears make them more vulnerable to wax build-up and infections in the auditory canal. Their ears must be checked and cleaned through at regular times to avoid major issues. Brush their teeth at least twice per week to improve oral hygiene. Due to their active personality, their paws should also be cleaned regularly. Their nails must be trimmed if needed. Generally, this hybrid is vulnerable to ear infections due to their ear structure. Gum infections may also kick in and can also impact their oral health. Both of these can be prevented by regular cleaning. Remember that all breeds are prone to developing more severe and specific health problems. Thus, results in the rubbing of the joint and prevents it from sliding naturally. Progressive Retinal Atrophy: This is an eye disease that happens when the retina malfunctions and fails to reflect, absorb, and perceive light which can, later on, cause blindness. Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus Bloating : This is a life-threatening condition that affects large dogs. The stomach then puts pressure on other organs may cause dangerous problems such as a tear in the wall of his stomach, difficulty in breathing or reduced blood flow in the heart. It is essential to split their total food intake into multiple smaller meals throughout the day rather than letting them eat it at once. Other common diseases are: Osteoporosis Heart Disease It is advisable to have your mixed breed undergo regular check-ups to rule out any condition the soonest time possible. Offer them either the best puppy food brands or the best dry dog food for small dogs to meet their calorie requirements. Once full-grown, you may need to provide them up to 3. Try to avoid feeding them with the worst dry dog food at all cost, as it can trigger allergies or severe digestive issues, including poisoning! Be sure to control the servings to prevent overfeeding. This hybrid also has an appetite for raw food. You can provide them fresh food rich with calcium and phosphates to strengthen their bones. Avoid feeding them food with high calorie or fat as this can make them sloppy and unhealthy. Make sure to provide this mixed breed only the best dry dog food that can help them reach their daily protein needs. Its fat and protein content has been well-calculated to maintain mass and lean muscle. Flaxseed, barley and brown rice are used as a carbohydrate source. It contains MOs and L-carnitine that helps in the building of antibodies. It is made from deboned turkey, turkey meal, and chicken meat. It is also rich in antioxidants, omega fatty acids, and probiotics. Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Grain-Free Dry Dog Food: This dog food gets all its protein content from fish, making it rich in omega acids that help skin and fur healthy. Your dog will surely enjoy its distinct flavors from salmon, legumes, vegetables, and fruits. Mastiff crossed with Lab Exercise Requirements This hybrid is large and robust. Regular exercise is needed to use up their excess energy and for keeping them in the right health. The lack of exercise would not make them aggressive and make them go back to their docile status. Their big body structure must be adequately maintained to keep it healthy. However, strenuous activities, like jumping or leaping, should be moderated to avoid issues like bone stress or worst, fractures. This mixed breed is also not demanding when it comes to finding the right place for playing. Your Mastiff crossed with Lab will enjoy different activities both indoors and outdoors. Should you decide to go outside when weather is favorable, might as well challenge this hybrid by using equipment or toys. Here a list of durable toys that will surely make your dog have a fun time playing: Jolly Romp and Roll Ball: This very durable dog toy is ideal if you want to play fetch. This mixed breed always wants to please their owners, and their smartness allows them to learn tricks faster. They respond significantly with obedience training and can absorb all house rules in no time. However, be reminded that this mixed breed possesses great physical and mental strength coming from its Mastiff lineage. You should be cautious and be firm. Through proper training and socialization, you develop this mixed breed into an affectionate, friendly and well-behaved dog. Mastiff Labrador Mix and Families If you have the energy, time and space, then, you should consider having a Mastiff Lab Mix in your family. They may be large, but through proper training and socialization, they tend to go well with kids, pets or other animals. They can also be a great family pet for you. Health and lifespan The Mastador dog hopes to bring together aspects of the brave, affectionate and loyal Bullmastiff, and the active, friendly and outgoing Labrador. And it must be said, those large, doleful eyes and floppy jowls are hard to resist. These dogs helped the local fishermen, pulling in nets and carts laden with fish. They soon gained popularity in England for their hunting ability. The Bullmastiff was originally developed in England, around the year .The breed is the result of a cross between the Bulldog and the old English Mastiff. The purpose of this cross was to produce a breed that would act as a guard dog for gamekeepers against poachers. The impressive size and courage displayed by this cross breed made them perfect for their role as guard dogs. The Mastador mix will often use a Bullmastiff parent. Typical Appearances A Bull Mastiff will typically weigh anywhere between 90 and pounds, depending on gender. They can be anywhere between 24 and 27 inches at the shoulder in height. They are also a heavy set dog. A Labrador is a somewhat smaller dog than the bullmastiff and will typically be around 22 inches at the withers. They usually weigh somewhere between 55 and 90 pounds. Whichever side of the family your Lab Mastiff pup takes after, the fact remains that both parents are large dogs. A Bull Mastiff Labrador mix is going to be a big dog. Bullmastiffs also have a distinctive droopy face and floppy jowls. Some Mastadors will inherit this trait. Colors and Coat Type Bullmastiffs have six colors, including fawn, brindle, red and combinations of the three. They all have a dark face mask. The Labrador comes in three recognized colors; yellow , black and chocolate. They are also known for their kind, friendly eyes. Some Mastadors look decidedly like a Bullmastiff, and others like a Labrador with slightly looser jowls. Often, a Lab Mastiff cross results in a rather distinguished and stately looking pooch. Grooming and Shedding The Bullmastiff has a short coat and does not require heavy grooming. Labradors have a double coat, so they will shed. They need regular grooming and baths to keep them looking their best. But, as such a large breed, even a small amount of shedding can result in a lot of loose fur around your home. Neither of these parent breeds have a very long coat. But, the Mastador mix is a very large dog, so grooming can be quite time consuming. And, if your puppy takes after the Labrador parent, you may need to spend a little time keeping their coat groomed. Particularly in the case of black Lab Mastiff, the short, shiny mastiff coat teamed with the jet black color of the Labrador makes for an impressive shiny black coat. Keep an eye on the nails of your dog and trim them when necessary. Labrador nails grow quickly, so they could become excessively long if not kept in check. Teeth should be brushed regularly. Mastiff Lab Mix Temperament Bullmastiffs are not overly active dogs, so spending time lazing around inside is not a big issue for them. But, like all dogs, they still need regular exercise. They are also known to be loyal dogs, protective of their family. The Labrador is known for its friendly, outgoing personality and laid back personality. They are very active dogs and will thrive if they get lots of opportunities to play. A Bullmastiff Lab mix could take after either side of the family or fall somewhere in between. Whichever parent your lab mastiff cross takes after, they are likely to have a relaxed and friendly temperament. As long as they are socialized well. Are Mastadors Aggressive? Mastiff breeds and Labs are known for their friendly and relaxed natures. But, the Bullmastiff is a natural guard dog and is an independent thinker. As such, they need thorough socialization from a young age. You must meet the Mastiff parent and feel confident that their guarding nature is not to the detriment of their friendliness around strangers. Socialization Make sure your Mastador feels comfortable around other dogs, small animals like cats, young and older children, elderly people, and strangers. Even when bringing home a Mastiff Lab mix, socialization is still essential. Make sure you have visitors to the home every day from 8 to 14 weeks old, then regularly from that point. Take them somewhere new and busy every day, where they will meet lots of friendly faces of various ages. These are very big dogs, so they can easily hurt someone without meaning to. Especially elderly people or very young children. You must be prepared to properly socialize and train a Mastador dog to avoid this. Training Your Dog Training, leadership and regular time spent playing with your Mastiff cross Labrador puppy will mean it grows up to be a happy and well-adjusted companion. Keep in mind that despite their size, Bullmastiffs are quite sensitive deep down. Positive reinforcement training is essential with potentially aggressive breeds, and those prone to stubbornness. It makes training motivating, rewarding, and an enjoyable experience for you both. On the other hand, Labradors are sociable, outgoing dogs that are eager to please. They have high energy levels and love to be kept busy. Whether your lab mastiff puppy takes after the bullmastiff or the Labrador, training and strong leadership is going to be highly beneficial for your puppy. Particularly given the size this dog will grow to be. Exercise Needs While Bullmastiffs are known to be happy spending time indoors relaxing, Labradors crave a little more action. After you bring your lab mastiff puppy home, it will take some time before you know which side of the family he or she will take after. It is important that you have somewhere outside you can take your Lab Mastiff cross for some playtime. But, be wary of overexercising this breed, or exercising them strenuously whilst they are young. This can lead to joint damage. Both parent breeds are prone to hip dysplasia, so watch out for signs of this whilst exercising your Mastiff Lab mix. Mastiff and Labrador Health Just because Mastiff Lab mix pups are a cross breed, this does not mean they are immune to the health issues that the parent dogs may experience. It is still vitally important to check that the parents of your Labrador x Mastiff puppy enjoyed good health. Labrador Health. Bullmassador Description The Bullmasador is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Bullmastiff and the Labrador Retriever. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in any of the breeds in the hybrid. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. His bark started out as a little squeak but has gotten very deep lately. I know he is going to be very protective of us because when he is not in the crate he lies in the way of our front door. He's our little man. He is a very loving dog and adores playing fetch with his Kong. His favorite thing to do is cuddle up in your lap—he tips the scale at 82 pounds! He has a great personality and wants to play constantly. He is extremely protective of our home—he will definitely let you know when someone is approaching. I could not have imagined a sweeter, happier dog and we have even learned to overlook the drooling. My hubby watches Cesar religiously—he thinks the "CHHHH" is great for getting the dogs to stop doing something they shouldn't be doing.

Look for a boxer puppies for sale Odessa Texas? Here is a brief background of this protective dog with a good sense of humour. History of the Boxer The Boxer dog breed is a descendant of the now-extinct Bullenbeisser a fighting dog with Mastiff ancestry and the Old English Bulldog. He was developed in Germany in the 19th century as hunters of deer, wild boar, and bear. Later on, he was used to guard and drive cattle. The man responsible for the creation of the Boxer breed was Georg Alt, who was from Munich. He crossed a brindle-coloured female Bullenbeisser named Flora with a local dog of unknown breed. In , the first German Boxer dog named Flocki joined a dog show in Munich. After winning the dog show, he was the first-ever Boxer dog to be listed down in the German Studbook. Modern Boxer dogs were believed to be the descendants of Flocki. He was then imported to the United States in and was accepted by the American Kennel Club the following year. The American Boxer Club was established in .In both world wars, various military tasks were given to Boxer dogs including guard dogs, attack dogs, and messenger dogs. The British Boxer Dog Club was then formed in .The Boxer breed was recognised by the Kennel Club shortly thereafter and classified under the Working Group. Temperament and Intelligence of the Boxer puppies Odessa for sale Extremely patient and gentle, the Boxer breed is good with children. But he is recommended for families with older children as he may accidentally knock over toddlers. Befriending other pets is possible if the Boxer dog is properly socialised at a young age. It will keep him from viewing small animals as prey and reduce his tendency to dominate same-sex dogs. Is a Boxer a good family dog? Yes, the Boxer breed is a good family dog. He may look noble and intimidating, but he is actually considered the Joker of the Dog World. Boxer dogs are playful and fun-loving. They love to be part of family activities and be the centre of attention. Are Boxer dogs dangerous? Boxer dogs may be tough-looking, but they are not generally aggressive. But they will stand guard and defend their families if necessary. Boxer dogs are initially wary of strangers, but they eventually warm up to them if no danger is detected. Their protective and loyal nature makes them good guard dogs as well as watchdogs. Are Boxers easy to train? Yes, Boxer dogs are easy to train if you are already experienced in handling the breed. They are intelligent but tend to be independent and stubborn. Due to this, they are not suited for first-time owners. Boxer dogs respond better to people that are firm and consistent. However, firm does not mean harsh. Instead of strict training methods, positive reinforcements are more effective in teaching this breed basic dog manners and tricks. Boxer Breed Highlights The Boxer dog breed is a loving, loyal, and protective companion. Boxer dogs are comical companions despite their intimidating appearance. The Boxer breed has low-maintenance grooming needs. As an energetic working dog, he has high exercise needs. Boxer dogs tend to be destructive when they are left alone or unable to let off steam. Are there miniature boxers? Yes, but they are rare. Miniature boxers are either a product of mating purebred runts or cross-breeding small dogs that have similar characteristics to boxers, such as Boston terriers, pugs, rat terriers, and fox terriers. While some of these minis may closely resemble their larger counterparts, they may not act similarly. Are boxers hypoallergenic? Unfortunately, boxers are not hypoallergenic. What problems do Boxers have? Boxer dogs are brachycephalic, which means they have flat faces. This trait narrows their airway and causes breathing problems. As a result, Boxers should not be out in the sun for a long time as it can lead to heatstroke. Overexercising them must be avoided too to avoid triggering breathing difficulties. How long do Boxer dogs live? The Boxer dog breed has a short lifespan compared to other dogs. He can only live up to 9—10 years, and this is due to the prevalence of health issues in the breed.
