Ichthyosis shows an autosomal recessive pattern of inheritance. Therefore, the disease is not related to the sex of the dog, and both male and female Golden Retrievers can be affected. Then, as I checked into these 7 males, I found that ALL of them were either too closely kin to my own girl or had other health issues that were far more problematic than ichthyosis.
