Click here for more information on this characteristic Bullboxer Pit Highlights The Bullboxer Pit is a mixed breed dog. Bullboxer Pits may tend to overeat. Owners must be diligent about monitoring diet. Bullboxer Pits have often been used as farm or guard dogs, due mostly to their loyal nature and powerful strength. The most regularly seen coat colors are brown, tan, yellow, and black. Although their coats are easy to maintain, Bullboxer Pits do shed all year long. Brushing can help. Due to their exercise requirements, physical strength, and need for training, this breed might not be best for novice dog owners. Boxers came on the scene in Germany back in the s; the dogs were often used to transport supplies and ferry messages to troops during the first two World Wars. The American Pit Bull Terrier was first employed in blood sports and used in baiting bears and bulls. The first ever Bullboxer Pits can be traced back to a German dog breed called the Bullenbeisser, which is now extinct. Due to the care and attention Bullboxer Pits require from an owner, many of them can end up in shelters. Bullboxer Pit Size The Bullboxer Pit is often described as a medium-sized dog, although they are also stockier and sturdier than many other middle-sized canines. Most weigh in at 50 to 80 pounds and range in height from 16 to 20 inches. Female Bullboxer Pits can often be a little smaller than their male counterparts. Bullboxer Pit Personality Bullboxer Pits have often been used as farm or guard dogs, due mostly to their loyal nature and powerful strength. These dogs can be especially devoted to their families, and often become very protective of any children in the household. Very upbeat walks—or even jogs—are required, so the owner must also be able to maintain a healthy and regular exercise routine. Around two hours of exercise per day is required—adding agility training or even swimming to the daily sessions can help vary things up. Apartment dwellers may find that many buildings do not permit Bullboxer Pits to live with them. Some of the more common health problems Bullboxer Pits suffer from include: Obesity due to overeating. Brindle 2. She needs plenty of exercise and lots of play! Given that both the Boxer and the Pitbull were bred for use as working dogs, these breeds are very energetic, so your Boxer Pitbull Mix requires a lot of exercise. This is what a well-exercised Boxer Pitbull Mix should look like: The Boxer Pitbull Mix is very playful and will need lots of toys at home. Careful, though! With her strong jaw and love of chewing, this dogs can destroy a chew toy within minutes. When you take her out, take a ball or a Frisbee to play fetch. She will love it! You should take her out for a brisk one-hour walktwice a day. If you are running, twenty minutes to half an hour should be enough. If your dog tires you will notice her slowing or beginning to pant excessively you should stop for a five-minute break and hydrate her. I recommend taking out a collapsible doggie bowl in which you can give her water. A note on exercising your Pitbull Boxer Mix puppy This advice on exercise applies to the adult dog only, as when large-breed puppies do too much running and ball-chasing this can cause long-term injuries. With your Pitbull Boxer Mix puppy, it is best to do lots of short walks and indoor play until she matures, at about 1 year — 16 months. Watch this 11 week old Pitbull Boxer Mix. She is curious, playful, active, and absolutely, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Whatever the weather — not with this dog! In rainy weather, she will need a doggie coat to keep her warm. During summer months, it is best to take her out in the early morning or the evening when the sun is less intense. She may still need sunscreen, but make sure you purchase one without zinc oxide, as it is toxic for dogs. The Pitbull is also a very affectionate dog when well-socialized, who will lick you all over if you give her an inch. She was in fact bred for both work and companionship , and due to her gentle nature, is beginning to be used more and more as a therapy dog. Both Boxer and Pitbull are also great with children , which makes them excellent family dogs. The Boxer is very patient and protective, while the Pitbull is solid, a people-pleaser and highly trainable. So mix them together and what have you got? A companionable, affectionate dog who fits in perfectly with a family, wants a lot of attention and gives in return. It is, of course, worth noting that as puppies they are going to be more hyper, and so their contact with children must be supervised. Also, your dog must be well-exercised to be around children, as if not she will be incredibly excitable and could knock over a small child. Her guard dog instinct is strong, which can be useful if there is an intruder or attacker. These are courageous dogs who used to risk their lives baiting bulls, so have no doubt that she will defend you and yours if necessary. If this instinct gets out of hand, however, it can become a problem. You must make sure that you socialize your Boxer Pitbull Mix from a young age with as many people as you can. Invite friends and neighbors to your home and provide her with a positive association by having the person give her a treat when they arrive. As long as you train her well and stay consistent, this dog will be the friendliest dog around. She might be too hands-on for older pets Providing they are both socialized properly, both breeds can get on well with other animals, particularly Boxers. As for play style, Pitbulls can be rough and Boxers like to use their front paws when playing much like a boxer… oh, that makes sense! People are also beginning to look past the negative stigma around Pitbulls and realize their high intelligence and trainability, too. Director of Operations at Universal K9 claims that out of the hundreds of dogs he has trained for police work, the Pitbull, Kiah, is one of the top three he has ever placed. These dogs can be stubborn, though, meaning that you need to be firm and consistent with them. As long as you are in charge, your Boxer Pitbull Mix should pick up basic commands quickly. Make sure you do enough repetition and provide rewards and lots of praise. As puppies, they are boisterous and energetic little characters. You will need to be assertive in order to get their focus. She is a moderate shedder Though these dogs have a short coat, they are moderate shedders and will require a good grooming session once a week. They will probably lose more fur in the Spring, from April through May, so it may be a good idea to brush her twice a week during these periods. She will also need her ears checked monthly, either at the vet or with a reputable groomer. She is usually healthy but has some potential health concerns The Pitbull Boxer Mix is generally a healthy breed, as both pure breeds are as long as she gets sufficient exercise, of course and as I mentioned in the intro it can live for up to 13 years. Having said that, it is always worth being informed on any potential health issues this breed can develop, so here are the main ones your dog could be prone to: Cancer While the majority of Boxers are healthy , they are at risk of an aggressive form of cancer called hemangiosarcoma , which occurs in the blood vessel cells. It can be difficult to detect, but signs can include weakness, a distended abdomen, difficulty breathing and weight loss. If you notice any of these symptoms in your dog, talk to your veterinarian as soon as possible, as this cancer can spread rapidly. Hip dysplasia This condition consists of a malformation of the hip joint, where it is unstable or loose in the socket. The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals shows that this condition occurs in both breeds , although Pitbulls are more susceptible. Severe cases can lead to arthritic joints and lameness. Signs can include walking or running with an altered gait and reluctance to fully extend their rear legs or jump. Weight control helps enormously with this condition; keep her slim, as any excess weight will put stress on her joints. Heart disease The Boxer is prone to a heart problem called aortic stenosis , which in most cases of the disease the dog is born with. This disease causes narrowing of the aortic valve, which puts pressure on the heart. Symptoms can include rapid breathing or difficulty breathing, sudden loss of consciousness, and congestive heart failure. If your vet picks up a heart murmur, the diagnosis can be confirmed with an X-ray and a cardiac ultrasound. Allergies Pitbulls can have various allergies , so your Pitbull Boxer Mix may be susceptible. They can be treated with antihistamines, and in the case of skin irritation, you should use shampoos specifically designed for sensitive skin. Conclusion Are you a family with children without any older pets? Are you ready to dedicate your days to plenty of exercise and play with your new lively companion? Can you give her the consistent training she needs? If the answer is yes to all of the above, you are more than ready to own a Pitbull Boxer Mix, and she will be more than happy to have you. Have you got a Pitbull Boxer Mix and a story to share? Comment below! About Alexandra Animalso I was raised to be a dog person. My first Shepherd grew up as I did and wanted to be where I was at all times. I got my second dog as a 16th birthday present, and her loyalty for me was just as strong as my first. I hope that my contribution to Animalso will help others find dogs who give them that same unconditional love. Had her posted on the local shelter site but no takers. We have a year-old Chihuahua and 8-year-old Yorkie so keeping the new dog inside is not possible. For a temporary measure we put a cardboard box with lots of pillows and blankets warmed in the dryer on the porch swing. It has since warmed up into the range. She appears to be happy running around outside and sleeping on the porch swing near the now chewed up box. We have ordered a dog house for her and are having her spayed tomorrow. We are a late middle-aged couple but I hope to be able to walk with her at least once a day. I hope you can wish us well for rescuing her. Pitbull Boxer Mix Exercise Requirements The general advice for most dogs would be to train them while they are young. But in the case of your Pitbull Boxer cross, you have to very cautious. Puppies of large-breed origin that exerts too much energy from running or playing can cause injuries that may last his lifetime. For puppies, activities may be limited to regular short walks or play until it has reached a certain maturity, around one year up to 16 months. As it gets old, the daily exercise requirement will also change. For an adult Pitbull boxer, minutes of exercise should be adequate to maintain good health. It is a very energetic hybrid so they will thrive in a lively environment. An ideal home would mean lots of space to move around, inside or in the backyard. Some states enforce restrictions with regards to Pitbull mixes like your pitbull boxer, so you have to keep it on a leash while out exercising. Using a leash will also prevent them from running into or jumping into everyone they encounter. They are most happy walking around in the city or the Dog Park or even trudging in the mountains. Another essential thing to consider is the weather. During the rainy season, your dog will need a raincoat to protect her from the rain and also to keep her warm. Sunscreen can be used but avoid products with zinc oxide, as it is a poisonous substance. The jacket provides full chest coverage, and the solid print is stylishly chic. The elastic leg straps and adjustable fastener guarantees a snug band comfortable fit. It also features reflectorized stitching so you can see your dog even at night. It is guaranteed durable — it features a galvanized cable and coated with crack-resistant vinyl. It should be able to withstand up to 7x the weight of your dog. My Dog Nose It! Pitbull Boxer Cross Training The combination of Pitbull and Boxer is explosively stubborn, so it is a suitable pet for someone with a firm and unyielding grip in training and socialization. And as always, your dog will react and respond best with positive reinforcement, rewards, and incentives. Punishment will never work, and more often than not, will only create or aggravate behavioral problems. It is essential to reward your pet to encourage positive behavior. Early socialization and training from puppyhood will form the foundation of a well-adjusted dog. Training your Pitbull Boxer should be a piece of cake because of their ability to pick up commands. To get their focus though, you would need to be tough and establish yourself as the master and make him obey you. We listed some training activities you can try out with your petpal: Behavior Training — How do you train him to stop barking mad? Constant practice will help you achieve the desired effect but never shout at him even if he continues to bark. Also, allow him to learn commands other than barking. Keep in mind that the goal is to reward your pup for being silent. Chores Training — Teach him to fetch your newspaper for you. Playing fetch with a toy or a ball should prep your dog for this activity. All you have to do is replace the toy with the newspaper and tech your Pitbull boxer how to get it, pick it up or bring it back to you. Fun Training — Rollover is one activity designed with your big Boxer Pitbull in mind. Start with getting your dog to lie down, and eventually how to roll over. Make sure you reward each action accordingly, and of course, practice makes perfect. Pitbull Boxer Combination And Families The Pitbull Boxer will become accustomed to any family dynamic most especially when trained well and socialized correctly. Their energetic and sometimes rowdy nature can knock off small bodies, so be extra careful if you have kids. There are specific training designed to help you manage this kind of behavior. I researched breeders all over the US and even Canada when looking to add a Bernedoodle to our family. I chose to join the waitlist at Walnut Valley because of their genetic testing, health guarantee, professionalism, transparency, genuine care for their animals, incredible customer service and ability to deliver the puppies at a reasonable cost. The estimate was a 2 year wait when I joined the waitlist, but I only waited 1 year for a puppy and I was extremely picky and passed on several litters. Jason is a rockstar and kept me updated and answered all of my questions the entire year I waited for a puppy. When it was finally time to choose he was very honest and helpful and made the process of selecting, purchasing, and preparing so smooth and easy. She is the most incredible dog I have ever seen. Pictures and videos do not even come close to how beautiful, sweet, and intelligent these puppies are. The day she came home it was extremely clear how much care goes into raising these puppies with excellent temperaments and great socialization. Our puppy came to us already loving kids!!! She was a part of our family from the moment we first met. She was kissing and enjoying my children from the moment she met them. She had no fear or apprehension about being around children and our vet commented that she seems very well adjusted. She learned to sit on command within days of coming to us. Jason continues to check in on us and it honestly feels like sending updates to a friend. Walnut Valley feels like family. The puppies are worth every penny! Like most people here we wanted a Bernedoodle and after doing tons of research there was no doubt in our minds that WVP was the place we wanted to get our puppy. But what really sealed the deal for us was the great communication with Jason. There's not much more we can say that others haven't already said on how great it was to work with Jason throughout this process. As first time dog owners, it was important to work with someone who would be patient with us and walk us through the process and he did just that. He was super helpful and answered all of our questions. He always kept us updated even after the selection process where he would send us pictures and videos on how our puppy was doing. In addition, it was great to see how active WVP was on social media and through these posts it was clear to us that these puppies were loved and well cared for and this gave us the reassurance we needed that we made the right decision. We've had our puppy for about a month now and we couldn't be happier. He's healthy and very well socialized! Jason and his family are some of the sweetest, most organized, passionate and accommodating people you will ever meet. We are absolutely in love with our mini bernedoodle Enzo and would highly recommend Walnut! Stellar experience from start to finish! Throughout the process, Jason was amazing! He answered all of our questions, and always responded promptly. We live in CT and getting our puppy here was a seamless experience. You can tell the puppies are well cared for and socialized. Thank you Walnut Valley! However, after doing extensive research on Walnut Valley and their breeding program, we felt more confident. Jason did a phone interview to make sure we were aligned and that helped tremendously. The wait was so worth it and we just brought home our sweet puppy. I can tell she was socialized well and loved in the weeks before she came to us. I highly recommend Walnut Valley puppies and working with Jason. We joined the waitlist for the standard bernedoodles and from the start, Jason and the Walnut Valley team were very trustworthy, communicative and responsive. They explained the whole process and were available to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend Walnut Valley and would definitely use them again in the future. That in itself speaks volumes. It is evident from the level of their involvement and communication that they truly care about puppy placement to ensure a positive experience for both their puppies and adoptive families. They are always available for questions and concerns making you feel like you have a support system through the process. He is super organized, and follows up to be sure everything is going smoothly. I never get the sense that I am bothering him…he is always willing to answer questions. It's obvious he really does care about the welfare of his puppies after they leave his home. My sweet pup is so well adjusted and socialized and even potty training after one week is well ahead of what I expected!! It's obvious the puppies are well loved and taken care of before they leave his home. At the very last minute on "puppy picking day" I decided I wanted to make the 4. The property was well maintained and spotless. Walnut Valley Puppies We interviewed several and watched as puppies were born. Walnut Valley Puppies were constantly superior. Jason, was a great help in guiding us to the perfect addition to our family. Every step was seamless and professional. We got our puppy 3 days ago and the entire experience was so fun and exciting. They are a first class operation: from the beginning to the delivery via flight nanny. Absolutely the best breeder and I highly recommend their services! Jason helps make the process run smoothly by answering all your questions as well as providing lots of videos and pictures so that you can pick a puppy that will fit in with your family. When she arrived, you could tell she was socialized which made training much easier. Once my husband and I decided that a bernedoodle is the type of puppy we wanted I started doing research and honestly no other breeder compared in my opinion. Once I sent in my deposit to be added to the waitlist, the following day I received a call from Jason, just to talk about the breed and how long it would roughly be before it would be our turn to pick a puppy. You also get added to a facebook group of everyone who has had a puppy from WVP and can keep in touch with the siblings or ask any questions you might have. The community is just amazing. Yes, the wait is long, I think we waited about 16months but it was so worth it. Jason keeps the website very up to date, you can see how many litters are expected and keep track of your place on the list. Once it is your turn to pick the process is very simples, Jason sends over pictures and videos. We got our new buddy Kobe about a week ago, and in in this past week Jason had reached out multiple times to see how we were doing. Overall, a great experience. We did extensive research prior to selecting WVP's and the results were well worth it. Jason was great to work with from the time we put in our deposit to the time we took home our puppy and he is still in contact today checking in on how Marley Formerly Melody is doing. I was fortunate enough to meet Jason as he hand delivered our puppy by flying to our selected airport and was so caring through it all. He kept us informed on where we were at in the draft order and we appreciated all the photos and videos we received before selecting our puppy and even after. I would definitely recommend Walnut Valley Puppies to anybody. We were fortunate enough to get the exact puppy characteristics we wanted and we love her so much. We hit the jackpot with Marley. We are so pleased and grateful for the professionalism WVP's and Jason provided through the whole process. Thank you from the Briggs family. I had a million questions along the way and he was not only patient but very helpful and answered every single question I had. And still does lol Bella is now almost 8 months old and I will still text him with questions here and there. Bella is also the BEST dog. She has as an amazing temperament and people comment on how sweet she is all the time. From chilling and cuddling on the couch, to running and play in Central Park she loves it all. While she is still a puppy and a little crazy at times Bella calmed down quickly, was very easy to train and adjusted to city life in NYC easily. While she is a little shy around new humans she is obsessed with every single dog she meets. All around the best dog my husband and I have ever had! Cannot recommend Walnut Valley and Bernedoodles as a breed enough!!! So much so that after only a week after bringing our new puppy home we chose to go back on the waitlist for a second one. Every step of the process from navigating the website and getting on the waitlist to picking up our puppy and getting her home was smooth and professional. There were no surprises, loose strings, or hidden costs. Expectations regarding the waitlist time were realistic and response times are incredibly quick, respectful and friendly. WVP is clearly a reputable breeder with the health and wellness of their puppies and parents in mind. We only had one point of contact Jason Yoder throughout the entire adoption process which was nice because it took the chance for confusion or miscommunication out of the process. He checked-in and still checks in regularly and always responded within the same day typically within minutes. We especially appreciated all of the photos, videos and the personality ranking system they use. Once we got Harriet home, it was obvious that WVP put in a bunch of work getting her socialized and weaned prior to the 8-week mark when we picked her up. Our new puppy is sweet and playful with our young daughters as well as any other person who will give her attention. Our puppy came earlier than expected and has been wonderful. He was well socialized and loves people. He has been easy to train and more than you could hope for in a pup. Send them a deposit and get on the list. You won't be disappointed! Jason was very communicative throughout the whole process and really got to know us and the type of dog we were looking for. We knew we would wait a bit for our puppy due to the length of the list and the estimated times on the website and it was absolutely worth the wait. Throughout our time on the list Jason frequently checked in on us and answered all of our questions that came along the way. When it was time for our puppy to arrive she came with a bag full of goodies, some food, her moms blanket, her medical records and proof of being microchipped. Our first few days with her Jason frequently checked in and made sure we were adjusting alright to our little addition. One of the other draws to this Breeder was the connection amongst other families that also adopted a dog from Walnut Valley. Not only can we contact Jason at any time but we also have this great community of people we can turn too. Walnut Valley puppies showered us with the sweetest pics of the first 8 weeks of our puppy. Walnut Valley puppies are such a family friendly, caring, and reliable business and anyone who gets to adopt one of their puppies will be so blessed by the entire process! Our puppy is so sweet, beautiful, and kind - thank you Walnut Valley Puppies!! We brought Hazel home and she is doing so well and healthy. The transition from Walnut Valley to bringing Hazel home was smooth, she was able to sleep in our bed after a week of being home with no issue. They clearly do a great job with their pups and I would highly recommend! Update: we've had Hazel for just about 2 years and she is our whole world! She is more perfect as time goes on, and my husband and I recommend Walnut Valley to anyone that is interested in a pup. We've really gotten use out of the Facebook group, we've even been able to meet up with other Walnut Valley families and thats been great! She has the best personality— affectionate, spunky, cuddly, loyal, and incredibly smart. The entire process was smooth and efficient. They are very responsive and even helped guide us through the early puppy days. We still text them pictures of our girl all the time! Our future dogs will most definitely be coming from Walnut Valley. Jason was a pleasure to work with from the moment we contacted him. You can tell that they love what they do and truly care about all of their dogs and puppies. Jason was able to answer all of our questions and help us bring our puppy home. Our two year old daughter is in love with her and they are inseparable! Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for helping us add the the perfect furry addition to our family! He can already fly up an entire flight of stairs, sleep through the night with only one or two bathroom cries he never goes in his crate , he's super smart and I've never seen a dog cuddle as much as this guy. Jason was also super helpful and responsive throughout the entire process answering any and all questions. Overall a great experience. They were so responsive, polite and answered all the questions I had. I got lucky to get one of their F1 bernedoodle puppies pretty last minute and they handled it so professionally and fully catered to our needs and requests. The Walnut Valley family truly cares about their puppies and the people they are working with. Highly recommend!! Our puppy is truly the best, and we are so lucky to have him! We were impressed with the website and Jason who was our point of contact. He is amazing. Very helpful, responsive, and answered all our questions from the moment we went on the waitlist till the day we picked up our mini bernedoodle named Olive. So impressed with this breeder. After an additional 12 month wait, we introduced the perfect puppy to her forever home. To say that we did our due diligence would be an understatement. WVP was a pure joy to work with, and Jason is the real deal. Shared many texts and talks with Jason throughout the past 12 months AND many follow up texts after we brought her home. Also to follow the puppies from all the different litters on their Facebook site is awesome. Jason from Walnut Valley was extremely helpful and a very friendly individual. He provided us with constant updates and pictures of our little puppy once she was born. They also provided us with the necessary information, vaccines, and procedures needed for a new puppy. I would highly recommend considering Walnut Valley! She is absolutely fabulous! We had a really amazing experience with WVP. Jason responded to texts from me daily. No joke. He was always kind, honest, and funny. I highly recommend WVP. They make beautiful, well tempered puppies, and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. Our little girl has adjusted really well to all the activity in our house. She started to sleep good at night in the crate after a few nights home. And the bell for potty she has really mastered about a month in. We are so grateful for all the resources that you all have provided and we are really loving the puppy school you recommended! We are thankful we found your place- our little Oakley has been a blessing! This is our first dog after getting married in October, and we are excited about another dynamic at the house. We get compliments on how cute and intelligent she is constantly. Glad we have her! Walnut Valley truly cares about their puppies. They have checked in also after he's been home. They stand behind their puppies and also make sure you provide a safe place for their puppy. You can tell he had an excellent start, because he's been so good. Our lil guy is super smart. Rarely barks or any accidents. The whole process has been amazing. Highly recommend this wonderful family. Everything was handled smoothly and beautifully, the puppies are so well cared-for and come with all of the information and starter supplies we needed as new puppy owners. We have had a wonderful experience with them and they continue to reach out weeks after we brought Bella home. Thank you! Since getting a bernedoodle can often take years it can be hard to plan so you need a good company that communicates and has flexibility. I searched other breeders and liked that Walnut Valley allowed you to get some of your deposit refunded in case life situations changed and also let you pick your puppy unlike other places. If you are not ready you maintain your place on the waitlist which is also helpful. Jason is the main contact and he is fantastic and a good communicator. The website shows where you are on the wait list and has lots of other helpful links. Once puppy pick day arrived Jason provided videos and answered all my questions promptly. They also provide a helpful scoring system to try to match the personality of the puppy into your household. The transport went smoothly. My dog is just beautiful—amazing, adorable and smart. They also continue to support you after your adoption with a 2 year genetic health guarantee. My puppy has a little umbilical hernia which they told me about before I picked him and they will cover the cost of repairing—my vet was very impressed with that. It shows they stand by the health of their puppies. There is a Facebook page for the Walnut Valley Family who adopt their puppies and it really feels like a family you are lucky to adopt into! From the time we were added to the waitlist, Jason and the rest of the crew were fantastic. They answered any questions we had and made us feel like part of the Walnut Valley family before we even picked out a puppy. Choosing a puppy without getting to meet them first is not always the easiest, but Jason took his time with us and helped us confidently pick out the best puppy for us. Now that we have our little handsome guy home with us, the support continues to be top-notch! Jason checks in regularly to make sure everything is going well. Anything could have happened during those 11 months, but the professionalism, prompt customer service and friendliness of Walnut Valley Puppies never waivered. We received the same quick, courtious and helpful replies whether we were 2 on the waitlist or .We felt safe and taken care of during our wait and getting the call that we were finally on deck to choose a puppy felt like winning the lotto. From there, Jason was incredible at guiding us through chosing the right puppy to getting him in our arms. He was also extremly patient with all of my questions, never once rushing me. For a first time dog owner, that patience is priceless. The beautiful little guy who now lives with us is perfect and has the most incredible markings. At our first vet visit, the vet said he was in perfect condition and couldn't stop talking about his beautiful markings and how good looking our guy was. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for being so wonderful to work with over the last year. The wait was long, but the experience was 5 stars. They are communicative, super friendly, and just know bernedoodles like no one else does. They care a lot about their puppies, and I would recommend them to anyone. They drove her down and delivered her to our door. When she got her you could tell she was relaxed and happy. She is being crate trained so she sleeps with the blanket that has the scent of her siblings on it. We did get her the Snuggle Puppy to put in the crate to help also. With those two things she will sleep from 9pm to 7am which is amazing! She has been great with our 3 and 4 year old children. You can tell she has been around kids before because she is not bothered by them constantly wanting to play with her! She is so pretty and we are always stopped so that people can ask all about what kind she is and where she came from. I have had my sweet Clark for just about a week now and he is a playful, smart and snuggly little guy. I am so happy to have worked with Jason and team in this process. Beautiful dogs and beautiful people. Javin and his dad David took excellent care of us through the whole process. This dog is completely amazing and absolutely gorgeous. Jason was so helpful and knowledgable throughout the whole process. He's periodically been checking in with us to answer any questions we may have and seems genuinely interested in how Arlo's acclimating to our family. Arlo formerly Skyler is now 10 weeks old and is the perfect addition to our family. He's very bright, healthy and full of life. In just the two weeks we've had him, he's learned to ring a bell when he needs to use the bathroom and has learned to sit and lay down. He also sleeps quietly in his crate all night, with the exception of one middle-of-the-night bathroom break. It's very clear to me that Arlo had a wonderful, nurturing start at Walnut Valley Puppies. They really care for their pups. We love our little guy and couldn't be more thankful to Jason and the Walnut Valley Puppies team. Jason was super great to work with and graciously accommodated my needs when I had to switch my pick up day! My puppy Walter is so sweet and relaxed for a puppy. He answered my hundreds of questions over text, email, and regular phone calls. He was extremely responsive and reliable. He understood all of my concerns as a first time puppy parent, and provided such thoughtful and insightful guidance. I especially appreciate and value the emphasis placed on honesty and goodness in their business and practice. She is extremely healthy and vivacious. She was given a wonderful start on life at Walnut Valley. I feel so lucky and I am so grateful. Shadow, now named Rocky, was the runt of the litter but has so much life, energy and spunk! He is turning out to be a great dog already. Javin worked with us on delivery and everything went smoothly. We could not be more pleased with our sweet, smart, healthy mini bernedoodle puppy! Our two new pups are just amazing. We were kept informed throughout the first eight weeks with regular updates and new photos so we could watch them grow even though they were not with us. It certainly was a memorable experience. Even after we had them home for a few days they continued to check in on their progress. Javin and Jason truly care about their puppies. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies! They were extremely responsive to our inquiry and questions. They care about their pups and customers and want to make sure each family finds the perfect fit. Although we were initially hesitant with an online transaction, everything was smooth and legitimate. All the pictures on the site were of the actual puppies available. We were offered to FaceTime as well. They have checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well. As far as our puppy - he is beautiful and gentle and we are so in love with him. Jason is extremely helpful and knowledgeable with any questions I had. Javin delivered a very healthy, playful and smart puppy. I had a great experience and I am very satisfied. I was nervous purchasing a puppy from the internet without ever meeting the puppy or seeing the facility but Javin and Jason make you feel at ease throughout the entire process. His main concern is to make the customers happy and make sure the puppy fits into your family. After some things changed with our family situation, I was able to purchase a puppy from them. I loved how they post several pictures of the puppies over the course of a few weeks and you can FaceTime with them to see the puppies and their clean facilities so you are reassured how well the puppies are cared for. Another thing I appreciated is that they rate the puppies demeanor which helps finding a puppy that fits into your lifestyle. I have had Sadie for a few days now and she is by far the easiest puppy I have ever had as far as training. She is a gorgeous puppy with a wonderful demeanor. I could not be happier!!! Feel free to reach out to ask me any questions you may have. Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for everything!!! I had so many questions, and both Javin and Jason answered every one of them with such pleasant friendly conversation. Walnut Valley Puppies is number one! Would highly recommend. We got a mini bernedoodle 2 days before Christmas and we only started looking for a puppy this fall. Most breeders of Bernedoodles I found had long waiting list. Our new puppy is a perfect tri-color bernedoodle. With a very even tempered disposition. Go with Walnut Valley Puppies and you will not be disappointed! She is very sweet and well mannered. Best of all she is so smart! She recently had her first vet appointment and was given a clean bill of health. Jason was especially great to work with, allowing us to pick up Shelby FKA Carol when most convenient for us and constantly sending updated pictures prior to her adoption date. I would recommend this breeder to anyone looking for a high quality puppy at a reasonable price. Javin and Jason were great to work with throughout the entire adoption process and made us feel at ease. Randall fits perfectly into our family. He wants to make friends with everyone that meets him and is obsessed with little kids. He is a great puppy and we are so excited to watch him grow. She is experiencing her first snow now but we have been having way too much fun in it to take time to take pics. Craig and I are so excited to have her as a part of our little family! We love her so much already! They were very pleasant to deal with throughout the entire process. The puppy arrived healthy and happy as promised. Even though Moose has only been with our family a few days he has already brought so much joy and happiness to our home. If you are looking for puppy we would highly recommend Walnut Valley Puppies. My husband and I spoke at length with Jason who was only too happy to take time with us and answer all our questions. The following day we had a FaceTime visit to see the puppies we were interested in. My girlfriend was getting a boy, Rodney now Rocco and I selected Ruby. Because we live in California we wanted to arrange a flight for them that would be a non stop. These guys were so agreeable to making this arrangement work out the best for the pups, even though it was a longer ride to the airport for them. They followed up with us after the pups arrived and several times since. They really care about their puppies and it shows. They are extremely responsive and reliable and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Our little Ruby has fit right in with our 10 month old bernadoodle as the two have become best buddies. She is an active, very playful, smart and loving little girl. At three months old she is already taking herself out the dog door to go potty!!! She is a fast learner and an overall delight. We are so happy to have her as our new family member! Thank you Walnut Valley Puppies for breeding such great pups and caring for them the way you do! They answered all of our questions and helped us get the right puppy for our family. We love our mini Bernadoodle Rocky! They are so knowledgeable and so honest and kind. Just truly good human beings. We got our puppy from them and we could not be happier with the whole experience. Absolutely amazing. Follow Georg on Instagram! We love our puppy! He has beautiful markings and has the sweetest disposition. He loves going everywhere we go. He loves boat rides, walks, playing in the snow and snuggling. Thank you for giving us the best puppy! Panzer is doing great! He is a big, goofy love. He's almost as big as my German Shepherd and weighing in at 58 pounds so far. He is wonderful and very respectful around my other animals my chickens, rabbits , and LOVES all kids. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He's strangely scared of other adults. He doesn't want anyone but family petting him, but we've been doing more socializing so I'm sure he'll grow out of it. He's just the best. Here's some pictures. As you can see in the pictures, she has grown so much. She was .She has brought us so much joy as we both lost our family dogs right before getting her. Her coat is so full and the groomer said she seriously is the best mix they have ever laid their eyes on. Georgia is curious, silly, smart, and full of energy. She begins puppy training next week and we are so excited to see all of the skills she will pick up. She currently knows how to sit, give her paw, and lay down. Thank you so much for our sweet healthy girl! We couldn't be happier! Follow Georgia on Instagram! I love that you are concerned and check up on the pups! He has a great temperament, he is in round 2 at school and smart as a whip. He goes for neutering and hernia repair on October 7th, he weighs 60 pounds, he is great with our grandchildren, our bird, and our cat. Here's an update on Auggie. He is a very sweet dog. He is very well behaved minus the fact that he eats way too many sticks. He is a comfort dog too. He loves laying on pillows, blankets, or even people when available. He also really loves car rides. We even made him his own platform for the backseat of my husbands truck so that he can be closer to us when we drive to my parents land 4 hours away. Thank you so much for your help with finding our perfect puppy! He loves chewing and sleeping, but is getting settled into his new life in Chicago. Good to hear from you. Seemed to fit him. His personality now is opposite of him as a small puppy. He is pretty hyper! He loves everyone, but gets overly excited when he sees anyone. He gets so excited when people come over, he has to be crated. Speaking of crates, he has done excellent with crating. Have never had a problem with him sleeping at night. Potty training was a breeze. He was awesome. He is a very smart dog. We are working with a trainer that is wonderful. She just loves Sonny! How can you not with that face. His fur was almost 4 inches long in some places and he was shedding quite a bit, so we decided to have him groomed. I will attach before and after pics. So happy with our little buddy! I will add my favorite pic of him for you also. And by the way, everyone thinks he is the cutest thing ever! Not with Javin! Our puppy Clover Sakina is a beautiful, loveable dog. The communication was clear, information about delivery prompt. She arrived at the airport in a nice crate. She was well socialized and exactly as promised. My 3 boys and I love her! They are constantly stopped on the street by people who want to know what his breed is and to ask to pet him! Thank you so much! I just wanted to thank you and tell you how wonderful she is. We could not be happier! Our first three days with her were spent on a lake in Northern Wisconsin. She is still unsure of staircases and swimming walking in water is fine! We have seen her stubborn side, as well as her playful and loyal sides. We are very blessed to have her in our lives, and look forward to watching her grow. Just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart!! We purchased Caynell now named Lucy last year just had her first birthday! I wanted to send some updated pictures and let you all know she is doing great! Gets along well with our lab and with other dogs and people in the neighborhood. Wilber has been acclimating to our routines as well as our acclimating to his needs and activities. Just a wonderful, adorable addition to the family. Love him desperately already!!! We have renamed him from Meldon to Tito. Just had his first vet visit last week and is all set up for future vaccinations. Healthy as can be and loving life! A few pictures to see his progress with us! She has made our family complete and we are so in love with her!!! He is doing wonderful. He started going in and out of his crate on his own on the very first night and sleeps the entire night in it with no problems. He is very well adjusted to his new home already. He is eating great, loves to go for walks on his leash, and even started learning how to play fetch with my son. See attached video Potty training is a process but he is doing very well. I wanted to thank you for all you did in helping us give him a new home. You went above and beyond for me to make sure I got to bring him home and I greatly appreciate everything. I would gladly recommend that anyone call you when they are looking for a puppy. I tell everyone what a wonderful experience it was. Thank you again. I will continue to update you as he grows. Sincerely, - Denise Balogh Day one went amazingly well. Just wanted to drop and line to thank you and your wife for such a wonderful day and amazing experience. She far surpasses all expectations. Although we were able to find various other databases of puppies for sale, it wasn't always clear who the breeders of these puppies were or how reputable the breeders were. Therefore, we began researching breeders one-by-one to confirm whether they met all the requested criteria and also had outstanding customer reviews. While this proved to be a challenging approach due to the fact that many breeders we found that matched the description did not always have reviews available or did not have outstanding reviews, we were able to craft the list of breeders above by analyzing each breeder's website and social media pages. While I did my best to find the best food for most Pugs, you might prefer to pick a more specific formula. Their joints, bones, and muscles develop at a different pace. Picking the right food to reduce common Pug health issues — Each dog breed has an increased risk of catching certain health conditions. These health conditions are genetic and Pugs are not indifferent. So make sure to pick the right ingredients to support common Pug health issues. For your convenience, I Dr. Libby Guise shortlisted 14 dog foods. I also noted which food is best for certain life stages or particular health issues. After going through the shortlist, you can find additional considerations that might be of interest to you and your fur-baby. Please keep in mind, while I tried to do my best to find the best food for your Pug, it would be a good idea to understand how and why we made our decisions. The recommendations in this review are not intended to replace the doctor-patient relationship. But pugs have some unique challenges because of their flat faces and compact bodies. They love to eat and can quicklybecome obese. Like many breeds today, Pugs can suffer from bone and joint disorders. Their skin folds also set them up for infections and other issues. And some pugs struggle with stomach issues and allergies. Avoid processed by-products and meat derivatives. Look for complex carbohydrates, including whole grains, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables, to provide fiber and energy. Puppies need more calories to fuel both activity and growth. As adults, the calorie requirements level out. The energy demand often decreases in the senior years when dogs become less active. Puppies: In general, a pug puppy needs about 50 calories per pound of body weight. Adults: Full-grown pugs require about 40 calories per pound of body weight. Seniors: Around years, pugs enter their senior years. Their activity and metabolism levels slow down. Puppies burn energy much more quickly and will need to refuel more often than adults and seniors. Weaned puppies under 3 months should have at least 4 meals a day From months, feed your pooch 3 meals a day From months, and above can have 2 meals a day The Appropriate Nutrition For Common Pug Health Issues Some health conditions are more popular among Pugs than other dog breeds. Each breed inherits some genes that can be associated with certain health issues. Here we list the most common Pugs health issues and how certain nutrients can reduce risk. A quick reminder: if you think your special pal suffers from any of these conditions, schedule an exam with your veterinarian to confirm your suspicions. Even with healthy dogs, these dietary recommendations may help prevent future problems. Portosystemic Shunts The Pug has a high risk for portosystemic shunts. Normally, blood with toxins and waste materials from the body organs travels to the liver for filtering. When animals are born with a shunt, the blood bypasses the liver and heads back to the rest of the body. If your pup has a portosystemic shunt, it may have stunted growth, be lethargic, have a wobbly gait, experience seizures, become aggressive, or demonstrate other symptoms. While surgical correction can help in some cases, medication and special diets can also help stabilize affected dogs. The key is to feed a low-protein diet with quality, digestible ingredients. Eye Problems Those adorable bug eyes can predispose pugs to eye conditions including: Corneal ulcers Cherry eye, usually due to an irritated tear duct Eye injuries Entropion or an eyelid that rolls inwards and irritates the cornea If your pooch has red or watery eyes or seems to be rubbing his face, talk to your veterinarian. But regardless of the underlying condition, you can provide nutritional support for good eye health. Offer fresh, high-quality ingredients from various sources including: Orange vegetables that are rich in beta-carotene, such as pumpkin and carrots Blueberries and other antioxidant-rich fruits Dark green vegetables like broccoli and kale for phytonutrients Oily fish such as salmon and sardines to provide omega fatty acids Avoid foods that have fillers, simple carbohydrates, cereals, and highly processed ingredients. These materials can trigger food sensitivities and allergic reactions that cause dull, runny, crusty eyes. Bone and Joint Problems Due to their specialized breeding over the years, pugs are genetically prone to developing joint disorders including: Hip dysplasia — the hip socket is malformed causing excessive movement in the joint. Over time, the friction damages the cartilage and causes degenerative arthritis. Luxating Patellas — the knee joint is too shallow, and the kneecap pops out of place, usually during exercise. The result is intermittent lameness or hobbling. Over time, there can be damage to the joint cartilage. Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease — inadequate blood flow to the femur causes the femoral head to die and become necrotic. Lameness usually shows up in puppies. The best solution for this condition is the surgical removal of the ball of the femur. Provide high-protein diets using quality, lean muscle ingredients for essential amino acids. The formula should have a proper balance of calcium and phosphorus to support the bones. Products that supply glucosamine and chondroitin promote healthy joint function. Look for healthy fat sources that provide omega fatty acids to help manage any inflammation. Skin Disorders Pugs have a characteristic, wrinkly skin that makes them susceptible to bacterial or fungal infections. Additionally, this breed can suffer from hair loss or alopecia. Look for formulas that are rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, and omega fatty acids. Seizures and Epilepsy Pugs can suffer from epilepsy and seizures, which are sudden surges of brain activity. If your furbaby has signs like muscle tremors, twitching, or loss of bladder or bowel control contact your veterinarian for a work-up. Proper nutrition that can help support your furbaby includes: Healthy, quality fats including sources of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. These ingredients help to manage inflammation and may help to decrease the severity and frequency of seizures. Because allergies can trigger seizures, avoid common allergens such as soy, dairy products, and gluten-containing materials. Provide protein-rich products with quality ingredients and digestible complex carbohydrates to provide adequate energy. This condition involves inflammation and death of brain tissue. Symptoms include: Circling. And the total number of dogs all breeds in the reports are .So while this is something that should be monitored and many more studies need to be done, it's important to keep in mind that this is a very small number compared to the estimated 77 million dogs in the U. The latest update is that there are no recalls at this moment that are linked to this issue. Switching a Pug onto a Different Food If you just got a new Pug puppy, you may want to feed your little guy or gal something different than what was being given. And in many instances, this will be a good idea. The sooner you start your pup on a superior food that you've chosen yourself, the better. If you have an adult Pug, you may decide to switch foods due to an intolerance to certain ingredients some dogs do best with certain proteins like beef as opposed to chicken or vice-versa or maybe you realized that your Pug was not on the brand and you want to make a change. No matter the circumstances, if at all possible, it is best to change to a new brand of dog food in a gradual way because a quick switch can disrupt the digestive system. Although these dogs may not be very large in terms of their size, they do have big personalities and they love everyone they meet. The Pug is a very friendly and loyal breed that forms strong bonds with its human companions — they also love to meet new people. Pugs were originally developed as a companion pet and they continue to serve that purpose today. These little dogs have wrinkled skin and short faces which sometimes leads to breathing problems, but a healthy diet will help to keep your Pug in good shape. Like all dogs, the Pug requires a balance of nutrients in his diet — the most important nutrients are protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Protein is the most important consideration and it should come from high-quality animal-based sources like fresh meats and meat meals. Just be sure that the meat meal comes from a named source like chicken meal or salmon meal rather than a generic source like poultry meal or a byproduct meal. In addition to protein, your Pug also requires healthy fats in his diet. Fats are particularly important for small-breed dogs because they provide concentrated energy as well as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids to support skin and coat health. The third most important nutrient for dogs is carbohydrates which provide your dog with vitamins and minerals as well as dietary fiber to promote healthy digestion. Dogs do not have specific requirements for carbohydrates but this nutrient should come highly digestible sources like whole oats and brown rice. If you are worried about food allergies, look for a product that uses gluten-free and grain-free carbohydrates like sweet potato and tapioca starch. These formulas are typically more energy-dense and nutrient-dense than large-breed formulas because they need to provide your small-breed dog with the calories and nutrients he needs in a smaller portion size. Small dogs like the Pug should be fed more frequently during the day than large-breed dogs to make sure their metabolisms stay at the right level. You can feed your Pug puppy freely but when he gets older you should ration his daily portion into three or four small meals. This will ensure that his metabolism gets the fuel it needs without putting him at risk for obesity. In addition to being mindful of how much food your Pug eats, you also need to be sure he gets enough calories. Small-breed dogs like Pugs have much higher energy needs than large-breed dogs. Consider this — a pound Akita might need a total daily ration of 2, calories while an pound Pug might only need .If you divide it out, however, the Akita needs about 23 calories per pound of bodyweight while the Pug needs closer to 41 calories per pound of body weight. Bringing a pug puppy home is not far from bringing a child home or having someone to live with you. Pugs are living creatures with personalities of their own. Some pug breeders offer pug mix puppies for sale in PA and you have to reach out to them as soon as they post their listing as there are many pet owners that are interested. Below are some of the steps you can take to help you select the perfect pug puppy for your home and choosing the right pug breeders. Create a Comprehensive List of Breeders Your search for adorable pug puppies will begin with a list of reputable breeders. Finding the best pug breeder will solve more than half of any future problems you might have with the pug. Instead, try to build a list of your options. Be specific with what you are looking for. This can be the need for crate training or an assurance of a health guarantee. This allows you to choose not only the best pug puppies but also enables you to get the best deal you can get. Once you have a list of at least five 5 pug breeders, you can talk to each of them and figure out which breeder has the best pug puppy for you. Identifying the Best Pug Breeder Now that you have a list, you can set appointments for each of the pug breeders. Talk to the pug breeders and ask them important questions. Of course, while pug breeders value owners who are enthusiastic about getting the best puppies home, be respectful with the manner you ask your questions. Always try to build a relationship and ask for information in the context of understanding how to take care of the pug you are about to bring home. Some buyers would indicate their need for the puppies to undergo crate training and would seek a health guarantee. Do your best to ask for these details when you talk to pug breeders. To properly identify a pug breeder who follows ethical practices in breeding pug puppies, look for these small signs or signals that they are legit: Legitimate Breeders Volunteer Information. Check out their listing and see if they are providing complete information about the puppy. This means that if there are issues with the puppy, they will volunteer the information. Do not fall for big claims like the puppy coming a champion sired pug without proof. Take what the breeder is saying with a grain of salt unless proof is established. They will be upfront about the total cost of the transaction and will not include any hidden fees. Legitimate Breeders Value a Vet Check Since part of any breeding program is the vet check, a good pug breeder will not shy away if you want to bring a vet along with you. In fact, it will be their delight since a third party can confirm the health status of their adorable pug puppies. How do I Identify a Healthy Puppy? Check if the gums of the adorable puppies are healthy pink and that their nose does not close when they inhale. Check the head and the hip for soft spots. With the pug breed, hip dysplasia is a common physical illness that needed to be detected at the earliest symptoms. There are good places to identify if a puppy has health issues. Confirm with the breeder if the first shots were already given and also dewormed. Legitimate Breeders Follow Age Guidelines The safest time frame for pups to leave the litter is after at least 8 weeks. It is not an ethical practice to release pups before this time. If the adorable puppies were released before the 8th-week mark, it will have a damaging impact on the health of the puppy. Good breeders will even wait until the 12th week before the puppy is released. Look for Guarantees A good breeder offers a health guarantee as a practice, even with other pets. This assures the new owners that the puppies are vet checked and health tested. Knowing if the pug puppy is family raised can be a good guarantee, too. A new puppy should be released with health clearances that will enable them to grow and mature into adult dogs. Why Is My Dog Shaking? Dogs are known for their loyalty and companionship, but when they start shaking, it can be a cause for concern for pet owners. Shaking in dogs can be a sign of various issues, from dog anxiety and dog fear to dog medical conditions. In this blog post, we will explore the common causes of a dog shaking and what pet owners can do to identify and treat the problem. We will also offer tips for preventing dog shaking and ensuring.By doing regular grooming at home, you can help your dog look its best between visits to the groomer. As even-tempered, sweet, and playful dogs, Pugs make wonderful playmates for kids of all ages and lovely companion pets for couples, singles, and seniors. These little joy bringers love to cuddle and are generous with their Pug love. When it comes to their family, Pugs attach like magnets. They are known to happily shadow their humans in every activity and are just as happy lazing on the couch all day as they are going for a long evening stroll around the neighborhood. Life Span Did You Know? The Pug, or Pug Dog, is famous for its flat-faced appearance and large, soulful eyes. They are an ancient dog breed that originated in China over 2, years ago. They were originally developed as a refined pet of Chinese royalty along with the Pekingese and the Shih Tzu. During this time, the Pug was considered a national treasure that outsiders could only access if one was gifted to them. Dutch traders from the s can be credited with bringing the Pug onto the world stage when they brought some back to Europe with them. The Pug made its way to the United States in the s. Now, the Pug is a popular dog breed worldwide. They are a popular companion that provides their owners with plenty of love and laughter from their comedic and playful antics. The Pug is a playful and outgoing dog breed with a charming personality. They tend to be very loving towards children and also get along well with other pets and dogs. They are a companion breed at heart known for their gentle nature and sociable personality. They love to give love and receive it in return. Their sensitive nature makes them intuitive as well and Pugs will often sense the moods of their owners and react accordingly. They crave attention and affection from their owners and are big fans of napping. This dog breed is often described as an ideal house dog and they are moderately adaptable. They will do well in homes of any size, including apartments. The Pug also adapts well to city or country life and are a good fit for singles or families of any size. Although they are highly adaptable to various living situations, they are less adaptable to climates. Pugs are very sensitive to the heat and overexertion, so they are best-suited to moderate climates. They also love to be with their families and will not be happy if left alone for a long time. As with any dog breed, the Pug has some health conditions to be aware of. In particular, corneal ulcers and dry eye are some potential eye problems that can occur. Additionally, Pugs can be susceptible to hip dysplasia, patellar luxation, and encephalitis. Asking the breeder about the genetic history of the parents and to see health clearances can help allay concerns for some of these health issues. Pugs are also big foodies. They love to eat! Their love for food means this dog breed is prone to obesity. As a brachycephalic dog, their large head and short snout often cause respiratory problems, which can limit their exercise at times and contribute to weight gain. This will cause them to quickly gasp and snort, which can sound relatively alarming. These episodes are usually not harmful as your Pug is just clearing their palate and throat. The Pug tends to be easy to train and is a good fit for owners of any experience level. They are eager to please their owners and tend to pick up on commands quickly. They are sensitive souls and their feelings can be hurt easily, so they will not respond well to harsh corrections. This dog breed responds best to consistent training that focuses on positive rewards and will benefit from participation in puppy training classes. Pugs have a smooth, glossy, and short coat. Their fur is fine and soft. Although their coat is generally low-maintenance, it will shed throughout the year. Aside from brushing, Pugs only need occasional baths on an as-needed basis. Because Pugs have ears that drop down, they can be susceptible to moisture, dirt, or debris. Checking their ears regularly and cleaning as needed helps to keep them healthy and comfortable. The same goes for their iconic face wrinkles. Daily brushing is ideal, but if your Pug is not allowing you to do that, a few times a week should be sufficient. Getting your Pug used to these grooming tasks as a puppy will help make it a positive bonding experience and a much easier process throughout their life. This dog breed has a low to moderate energy level. Generally, daily walks and some play sessions are enough exercise for this dog breed. They may have short bursts of energy as they have a very playful nature, but they will tire easily. Some Pugs can handle a little more activity and even compete in some dogs sports like agility, rally, and obedience. Make sure you check with your vet first before jumping into dog sports with your dog. A full-grown Pug will usually stand 10 to 11 inches tall at the shoulders and weigh between 14 and 18 pounds. This dog breed generally lives for years. The Pug was a popular pet of the Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. Featured Pug Article.

The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. When it comes to adopting any animal from a pet store, there is an increased risk of unforeseen health or genetic problems. You also cultivate a life-long relationship with the breeder, meaning support is available to you anytime you may need it. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. Goldens sport a double-coat, which ensures that these sweet pups are able to tolerate slightly colder temperatures than their friends from other breeds. Your pup deserves better than that, which is why here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we ensure high-quality care is taken of your pet at all times. For more about the true price of a golden retriever puppy, you can read our full price breakdown here. Location Information for New York Customers Our home office is located in Ohio, but we understand that long-distance travel can be inconvenient. If you prefer to meet a breeder in person, they may be able to offer private visits at their home. Of course! Here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we value family and authenticity, which is why we always guarantee our pups through our 2-year genetic health guarantee. Like adopting a Golden Retriever from a pet store, there is an increased risk when adopting a pup from a rescue center or shelter as well. For example, pups purchased through a shelter or rescue center are far less likely to come with the kinds of health guarantees and reassurances that a breeder can provide. The Golden Retriever has been an AKC-recognized breed since and was commonly used as a gun dog and for retrieving small game such as waterfowl, and for companionship. The Golden Retriever originated in the Scottish Highlands. The first Lord Tweedmouth, Dudley Majoribanks, is credited with developing the breed and keeping detailed records to create the ideal gun dog for the terrain. Great discipline and a gentle spirit make the Golden Retriever a perfect retrieval breed since the goal of this task is to bring the trophy back as undamaged as possible. Golden Retrievers first appeared in dog shows in at a British dog show. They also started appearing in the United States around the same time as they were brought across the Canadian border. They gained popularity with sport hunters and in general. Their popularity really took off in the s and they are consistently one of the most popular dog breeds. If you are not the sporting type, bringing a Golden Retriever into your family as a pet is just as rewarding because they are one of the most loyal and jovial breeds out there. One of the facts about Golden Retrievers is that they are the epitome of friendly and make fantastic family dogs. Golden Retrievers are considered one of the friendliest dog breeds. They tend to be good with kids, other dogs, other pets, and even strangers. Goldens love attention and they bond closely with their families. They are affectionate with them, and also just about everyone else. Although they do tend to get along with everyone, they love being around their favorite humans the most. They will bark to alert you and can end up barking a lot if you do not train your dog to stop barking early on. Golden Retrievers are highly adaptable dogs. They thrive in homes with yards where they can run. They can also adapt to apartment living as long as they get enough daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention. These dogs do well in just about any climate, but are sensitive to heat. As one of the most affectionate dog breeds , they are not at all happy about being left alone for long periods of time. Although super-friendly and attention-loving, Goldens can also be sensitive to their surroundings; make sure they feel included, but have a quiet place to go if things get too noisy or overwhelming. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a Golden Retriever include progressive retinal atrophy, cataracts, elbow dysplasia , and hip dysplasia. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Goldens are considered one of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. They are highly trainable dogs that pick up on things quickly and are eager to please. These traits make them a good fit for owners of all experience levels. It also helps them excel at obedience competitions. As one of the smartest dog breeds , Golden Retrievers can get bored easily. Because they pick up things quickly, they can get bored with too much repetition in training. If your dog has mastered the command, move on to something more advanced or another activity. You can also enroll in puppy training classes for some variety in training and also some socialization. Golden Retrievers have a long double coat that will shed a little year-round and will be heavier twice a year as the seasons change. Brushing a few times a week and daily brushing during seasonal shedding along with a bath as needed is usually enough for at-home care. You will want to go to the dog groomer for a professional trim a few times a year, especially as the seasons change. Nail trims once or twice monthly keep nails from growing too long. Daily tooth brushing, along with cleanings at the vet when needed, is ideal. Golden Retrievers are one of the most active dog breeds. Daily walks plus some playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough to keep these dogs happy and healthy. But, they are high-energy dogs that will likely always be up for more activity if you are. Much like the Labrador , they also tend to have an extended puppyhood. They tend to start winding down a little around the age of 3 and settle into your lifestyle, but they will still be high-energy dogs that require a lot of daily activity. Goldens are known for being versatile and athletic dogs. They tend to love swimming. Once they are done growing and the vet clears them for higher-impact activities, you can try other things too. They are one of the dog breeds that make good running partners. You can also teach them how to play frisbee or play fetch. Training for dog sports is another good option. In addition to obedience, Golden Retrievers are well suited for agility, dock diving , rally, flyball, tracking, and more. Fully-grown Golden Retrievers usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Golden Retrievers generally live for years on average. With their intelligence, eagerness to please, and gentle disposition, Golden Retrievers are versatile working dogs. In addition to being one of the dog breeds that make the best service dogs , Goldens can be found working as emotional support dogs, certified therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, police dogs, animal actors, and more. Depending on what you want to accomplish with your puppy, these aspects might be important to you. If you are wanting a purebred Golden Retriever, it is also advisable to get a puppy from an AKC registered breeder. It is a small family kennel that breeds English Golden Retrievers. They are passionate about raising quality dogs bred from genetically healthy parents that also pass their health certifications. The puppies are raised inside the home and treated like one of their own dogs. They are well socialized and go through a great enrichment program during their developmental time at Nicholberry farms. Many puppies from this breeder have gone on to become certified therapy dogs. There is even a part of their website dedicated to their puppies that have gone on to be working dogs from therapy to bomb detection to acting! They clearly love their puppies and are a great opinion for considering a future furry family member.

bernedoodle puppies long island for sale - Life Span Did You Know?
