10 week old bulldog puppy

Lisa Chiarelli Without hesitation, Chiarelli agreed to rescue the puppy. She spent the rest of the night planning his freedom ride but woke up the next morning to a shocking update. He was accompanied by four littermates , and they all clearly needed help. Chiarelli was determined to save the entire little family. But she could tell right away that they had a long road to recovery ahead of them. On top of round-the-clock medicine, the puppies were given consistent cuddles by everyone at the clinic, and, before long, they started to thrive. Soon, they were all healthy, and finally ready to live the carefree puppy life. As soon as they were given a clean bill of health, the puppies were placed into foster homes. Lisa Chiarelli For now, the remaining puppies will continue to learn and grow with the help of their loving foster families. And, as Chiarelli sees it, the best is yet to come. Photograph by Robin Schwartz When I was a child, my greatest dream was to find a box full of puppies. And every shoebox, every discarded Manhattan Mini Storage vessel had the potential to change my life. By the time they were fully grown, they would follow me down the streets of SoHo, off-leash. In reality, I was deeply dog-less. My first and worst pet was a newt that choked to death on a bad worm. Next came a hairless cat my mother bought on Greene Street. We lived in what was essentially one big room, on Broadway. My mother had been the proud owner of Cindy, a shepherd-collie mix with serious aggression issues and a pathological obsession with Ritz crackers. At the age of six, my mother was both her captor and her protector. When it was really hot, he liked to run to the riverbank and roll in dead eels. He survived a German-shepherd attack in which he lost part of an ear. Both these dogs seemed to me like outcasts, kooks, pains in the ass who the adults secretly wished would just succumb to their own vices already. When I was fifteen, I took the box-of-puppies fantasy into my own hands. Walking down the main drag of Brooklyn Heights, where we now lived, I stopped to pet a tan mutt, the mascot of an animal-rescue group that had set up a booth at the corner of Montague and Hicks. There were several girls and a man. I do remember, though, that what came next was a very bad afternoon. It involved my dreams coming true and the empty dread that often follows that experience. I climbed into a van with Elias Koteas, who told me that there was a pit-bull mother dead in a box! Just think of the puppies—three of them, he had said, their bodies cold, starving. In the van, one of his colleagues, a silent frizzy-haired woman, filled dog bowls with dirty water. I could hear it sloshing as we rumbled down Atlantic Avenue. It was dusk by the time we reached the parking lot. It had started to drizzle. Elias Koteas told me to follow him, and I did, to a shipping crate in the corner of the lot. I peered in. They were barely puppies. More like kidney beans, slick and cool, eyes still sealed shut. They whimpered, but quietly, no louder than baby birds. Elias Koteas urged me back to the van. I wandered for blocks, the puppies hidden in my orange parka. I saw a laundromat and went inside to get warm. Someone noticed the puppies and suggested that I stuff them into the socks without mates sitting atop a dryer, which I did. The office was just closing, but I opened my coat and flashed the receptionist my puppies, like a freelance salesman on Canal Street, and she quickly ushered me in. The vet was a young, sweet man. Definitely Jewish, which is something I care about only in times of crisis. He checked each dog for a cleft palate and explained that I had to feed them every two hours, and that I should rub their anuses with a hot cloth to express their bowels. It never occurred to me to ask whether the vet might keep them there, at the office, where the staff was better equipped for transient pit-bull infants than a fifteen-year-old girl might be. After all, my parents were on a trip to California and my sister, Grace, was only nine. On the walk home, I named them—Uno, Bruno, and Devo. Imagine how lively our house would be when we had three grown pit bulls! I presented them to the babysitter, who reacted with the only appropriate emotion: horror. I was too old for a babysitter but still too young to be trusted alone with Grace. The first night, I woke up every hour on the hour, heated the bottles, rubbed the anuses. It was the weekend, so I had all the time in the world to spend with them. But by the end of the second afternoon I was an Octomom-style mess. She lived in Bay Ridge and was agoraphobic, she explained, so there was no way she could meet me to collect the puppies. Besides, she said, she had no room at all. I waited until my father got home, then made him do it, but I refused to join my family in the car, claiming that it was too painful a goodbye. While they were gone, I holed up with a boy I vaguely liked who had a very chapped lower lip. We did, eventually, get a family dog. I was very invested in him for a short while, until I started watching Criterion Collection movies and eating meat and getting generally more excited about human company. The misfit child no longer needed a companion, and the terrier was ignored, like the Velveteen Rabbit. Nothing about my life these days makes me an especially good candidate for having a dog. I have issues waking up. I am one step away from doing that awful rom-com thing where a New York City working woman with limited space but unlimited pluck fills her oven with sweaters and shoes. I also realize that writing about dogs is a very tricky business. Or perhaps your words will have the droopy intelligence of a Thurber dog. The same caveats apply to conversation about dogs. Just discussing your dog can be as tiresome and offensive as talking about the weather, your own dreams, or the newest wrinkle in your married sex life. At least when people talk about their children, there is a chance that the kid will grow up to be President. After what feels like decades of making ill-advised forays into Spartan Chinatown living rooms and pretending to enjoy wine, I have met someone I love and respect, and I want to make decisions that honor and consider him. It would be a mistake to create a situation that compromised his comfort or made him less likely to squeeze me all night long. My boyfriend is allergic to dogs. Nevertheless, the itch returned last year, when, during an extended existentialist spin-out, the same family dog I had abandoned so many years ago dragged himself to my side and refused to leave. Suddenly, I find myself Googling dogs, looking into their dumb dog faces, reading about which foods will poison them grapes, chocolate, some sugarless gums and which celebrities love them Glenn Close. I imagine how much better everything would be with a dog. Walks to get the paper or a bagel. Long car trips, a wild head of Einstein-y fur in my lap. Sitting on the couch, reading a book, and occasionally flicking his ear with my toe. The rescue people dump his tags and toys into a plastic evidence bag, as if he were leaving prison. It should be noted that this place is an entirely professional operation. Quiet, limp as a sack of laundry, he kisses me softly whenever he has the chance. Everyone tells me how lucky I am. Friday, I drop him at day care. That afternoon, my sister breaks up with her girlfriend. I tell her she should sleep over, and she agrees. We all go to dinner and then pick up Lamby, who bounds out of day care and into the sub-zero night to greet us. I am lucky. But the minute we arrive home it gets weird: Lamby picks up a stuffed toy in his mouth and shakes it hard, as if to break its neck. My boyfriend reaches his hand out to calm him and Lamby lunges, biting him. In the bathroom a little while later, we are brushing our teeth when Lamby saunters in, calm, like your college roommate the day after an acid trip, acting like everything is normal. I promise. He bounces slightly, shocked, then curls his tail around one crooked leg and heads for the front door, where he barks loudly at no one. At bedtime, I shut Lamby in the living room with my sister, who needs the comfort, but, a moment later, it starts: the sound. Something between a sob and a siren, it is how Lamby expresses a doleful emotion that he experiences roughly twice a day. My boyfriend nods, a good sport with a long red scratch on his forearm. Lamby trots in, does several laps around the room, then stretches across the foot of the bed. You know, a creature. That might bite my feet. What have I done? We had such a nice life. I cling to my boyfriend and pull my feet up close the way I did when I was a little girl and thought alligators lived at the bottom of the bed, waiting to snap. Finally, everything settles. It seems as though we could sleep this way every night and even come to love it. What was I so anxious about? A siren wakes me at 3 A. Lamby stands, ready to fight. I kneel over her and she shows me the offending text message. Lamby makes himself busy, circling her, placing a spitty chew toy on any exposed skin he can find. Once she calms down, he does, too. On the arm of the couch. This is where we will stay. But any attempt on my part to be alone—meditating, showering, walking out into the hallway to dump trash down the chute—results in that same siren sound. Sometimes he takes a break to flash his erection at me, red as a sunburn and made even more vulgar by the jaunty bandanna the groomer has tied around his neck. At night, he conks out around ten. My building skews old. So when an ambulance pulls up to our door I never panic. Lamby does. One night, an ambulance is parked outside from 3 A. I try shutting the blinds. Covering his ears. Pushing him out of my bedroom. The ambulance leaves, but Lamby starts again when the woman below me coughs, a deep weak rumble that I often mistake for male sounds of sexual pleasure or the evening news. At A. Before I even knew about you, I was waiting for you. When you were born, I was only twenty-five years old. But I needed you. He wakes up only one more time in the night, with a single bark that trails into silence. I kiss his little mouth, his ears that smell like corn chips and old water. I love you. I love you so much. He is mine, and I am old enough to have him. We are all adults here. Read More. WSMV - A mother dog and her five puppies, who were found on the side of the road, are getting a second chance at a better life with the help of one volunteer. On the corner of Clarksville Pike and Dry Fork Road, Sarah Ames said she found a litter of abandoned puppies inside a box alongside their mother. Ames said she handfed milk replacement to all five puppies while the mother recovered. Upon finding the mother dog and her puppies, Ames said she reached out to the Nashville Humane Association for help. A post shared by Nashville Humane Association nashvillehumane Ames agreed and said she quickly became attached to the mother dog, who she named Rose. A week later, as the puppies and Rose were starting to get better, NHA reached out to Ames, letting her know a new foster family had been found. Rose and her puppies with their current foster mom. Nashville Humane Association Ames dropped Rose and her puppies off at the shelter and into their new foster home but said she still thought about Rose and wondered if she should be a part of her family. Days later, Ames made the decision to keep her. Copyright WSMV. All rights reserved. Most Read.

Sydney Murrell 2 years ago I reached out to Golden Retriever Buddies with a general inquiry on price, and Angie promptly responded back. I was impressed by the timeliness of the response, and the time she took to lay out the details of the process. She also was kind in expressing her condolences for our recent loss, the reason for my inquiry as we were looking for a new family member. Just from my initial interactions, I would recommend Angie and Golden Retriever Buddies to someone looking for a new pup! Mitch Monocchio 2 years ago Angie and Golden Retriever Buddies did an absolutely amazing job keeping me up to date with schedules, timing and everything in between. We wanted to wait till our kids were old enough to be responsible to take care of a puppy but also be young enough to grow up with a little buddy. After searching for months we came across Golden Retriever Buddies and decided to message them. From the moment we got our first response till now it has only been the most pleasing and wonderful experience with Angie. She is so personable and very informative answering all the questions I had about their puppies. I know that ANY breeder could have cute and healthy puppies but speaking to other breeders, hands down Angie made the experience extraordinary. I felt like the other breeders seem to be more concerned about the business aspect of the process and Angie was more concerned about my family and putting a puppy in that perfect family. During the whole process up till now she has been in contact with us every step of the way. Whenever I contacted her with any questions she would respond in a timely manner and her responses were with pleasure and I didn't feel like I was bothering her like some other breeders I spoke to. I understand that this is a business transaction but also this is not a small feat, we are basically adopting another "child" to love and cherish. I definitely recommend Golden Retriever Buddies to anyone that wants a smooth and joyful experience from beginning to the end. G Flores 2 years ago Exceptional breeder! Ryan Fullarton 3 years ago Angie was the absolute best breeder to work with. The care she has for all of her pups and parents really shows in how happy and healthy our puppy is. Very loving and clean environment! Laura Ackermann 3 years ago Angie was very easy to work with, and we are absolutely thrilled with our new puppy, Sadie Mae! We purchased from her for a number of reasons: 1. I liked what she says about her puppies on their website. They are a Christian family and God is good! Their puppies are exceptionally adorable! Angie responds quickly to inquiries, is reliable and easy to work with. Our puppy was obviously raised with lots of TLC and love! As far as she knows, there have been no health issues with any of their puppies. If we were to get another Golden puppy, we would absolutely purchase through Golden Retriever Buddies again. I am so in love with my girl! Angie was so organized and available for any questions I had. Angie loves when I text her with updates of my pup; it proves how much she cares for her dogs. I highly recommend this breeder. Angie was great to work with: quick to respond to texts, answered all of our questions, prepared us for taking our puppy home, and gave us lots of recommendations. She was also very flexible about setting up a time to come choose our puppy and to pick him up. The fact that she starts crate training with them is great because Colombo adapted to his crate at our home very quickly and was sleeping through the night within a week or so. We did a lot of research on breeders and paid close attention to who had ethical breeding practices, and Angie certainly does. She clearly shows the puppies a lot of love. We've sent her a few "pupdates" on Colombo, and she always seems happy to receive them. I definitely recommend reaching out to her if you're looking to purchase one. Jake Vitti 3 years ago Amazing breeder, Angie truly cares about every puppy from her litter, very transparent and will give you any advice or paperwork you need. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing puppies Eric Valencia 3 years ago Definitely recommend Angie and the Golden Retriever Buddies Family. Dear sweet Angie. We were blessed with one of their puppies years ago and the whole experience was pure delight???????? Disney Image via Disney The virus took hold of the set rather quickly. It was February in British Columbia, the perfect time and place to film exterior winter shots, but an environment that only helped the illness spread faster. Production tried to prevent impending disaster, quarantining those infected, giving them IV drips in between scenes. But it was too late. The virus had already sunk its teeth into so many. Those who are acquainted with the movie, who know that the titular Buddies are the offspring of the golden retriever who broke the animal barrier and set state records for high school basketball and football in Air Bud and Air Bud: Golden Receiver, probably think fondly of Snow Buddies. But the behind the scenes story of the making of Snow Buddies is much darker than that, a tale of negligence and malfeasance in the thirst to expand profit margins and corner the dog movie market. Before Snow Buddies began filming in early , Keystone Productions purchased 25 golden retriever puppies from Alex and Suzana Schock, who ran a commercial breeder out of White Lake, N. Of the 30 dogs acquired by production five more had been bought from a Canadian breeder , 15 were on set. The other 15 had been showing signs of illness for about two weeks, and were being treated by local veterinarians. They were eventually diagnosed with giardia and coccidia, a parasitic disease common among young dogs. Movies are generally required to only use dogs eight weeks or older, primarily because of the health complications that can arise if a puppy is separated from its mother earlier than that. As many as six puppies fell ill to that particular virus. The production team behind Snow Buddies had, whether they realized it or not, basically fashioned their set into a death trap, and thrown a bunch of animals with underdeveloped immune systems into it. With so many already exposed, the 30 puppies were removed from the set. And then a bad situation got worse: three dogs were euthanized due to intestinal complications. The death total rose to five when two other puppies perished. The cancelation came one day after a horse named Real Awesome Jet was euthanized after an on-set accident. Though the show had been renewed for a second season immediately after it premiered, HBO had to change course. Disney would do no such thing with Snow Buddies. Having shipped away the first group of puppies—sick, but still living—production hired 28 new golden retrievers, who were all subsequently exposed to parvovirus. Finally, filming was temporarily suspended. But the controversy surrounding the movie was far from dying down. PETA reportedly received no response. There was plenty of finger-pointing when it came to determining a culprit for these dog deaths. Keystone, and even AHA, placed blame on the breeders, who were actually accused of falsifying dog documents. Even at the time, the puppy-killing virus that swept through the Snow Buddies set barely registered. Since then, five other Buddies movies have been made. Fortunately, those subsequent productions managed to not kill any dogs.

Pin 0 Shares In a previous blog post I explained why I think harnesses are better than collars for Frenchies and included some recommendations on which ones you could buy. Kind of essential huh? Males tend to be bigger than females, some are stockier, some skinnier. No one sizes fits all. So what should you do… What size harness for a French Bulldog puppy? As a general rule of thumb, a small size is best for a puppy, and a medium size is a good fitting harness that works best for an adult Frenchie. You should also measure first though so you get the correct fit. If you can firstly measure your French Bulldog for a harness you will save yourself time and money. The unique shapes of Frenchies means harnesses can either slip off easily or be too tight under their front legs. Get a measuring tape You will find that many French Bulldog harness sizes are based on the weight of your dog. You should then measure the width of the chest where it is at the widest which is usually an inch or two back from the armpits. Make a note of the chest dimensions but add 3 inches on top because you ideally want room for them to grow into the harness size if this is a puppy. Loosely run the tape measure around the neck to get a size in inches or centimeters. Providing your Frenchie stays still, you should be able to measure up for a harness that fits! All you do is hold your French Bulldog and stand on the scales and make a note of your combined weight. Then put your Frenchie down and stand back on the scales to get your weight; the difference between the two being how much your dog weighs. You now know what size harness for a French Bulldog puppy. Most of the harnesses will be sold according to the chest measurement, neck size, and the weight of your dog. Now you have the right size noted down, you could select from either of two I recommend above both are excellent products. Choose a harness with adjustments points to allow for growth and weight gain or weight loss. Make sure the harness is the right size to not be tight around the throat and neck. If you cannot find an exact size harness, always go for the slightly larger one as you can then adjust it back down. What size Ruffwear harness for a French Bulldog? As with any harness, the size you buy will depend on what measurements you record. We bought the small Ruffwear harness for her when she was a year old, and it was a bit loose to start with, but now the perfect size. I love it, and my dog appreciates the extra comfort levels offered. But here are some comments I found from owners on the Julius K9 harnesses. No comments The French Bulldog packs an oversized personality for its little body. Originally bred in England as a smaller version of the English Bulldog, it traveled across the channel to France with its humans in the middle s. Then, through subsequent breeding with terriers and Pugs, it became the plucky breed we know today. Frenchies are curious, bright, affectionate and happy to be wherever their humans are. Size is an essential consideration when deciding on a doggie companion, especially if you live in an apartment. Fortunately, the Frenchie is ideally suited to life wherever you abide. Read on to learn all about the average size of the French Bulldog. What is the Typical Size of a French Bulldog? A small dog breed, Frenchies achieve a height at the withers of between 11 to 13 inches 27 to 33 cm as adults. Females should weigh between 18 — 26 pounds 8 — 12 kilograms while males may weigh 20 — 28 pounds 9 — 13 kilograms. Since the French Bulldog loves to loaf on the couch, be sure to take your pup on walks — just two per day will keep its weight under control. What is the French Bulldog Neck Size? Because of its English Bulldog ancestry, French Bulldogs have short, thick necks. The average neck circumference is around 14 inches 35 cm and their collar size ranges from 12 to 16 inches 30 to 40 cm. Neck width combined with skull size may factor into why some French Bulldogs develop breathing problems. What is the French Bulldog Head Size? Frenchies have large, broad heads that are square shaped. They are brachycephalic, which is just a fancy word meaning they have a shortened snout; their muzzles are so short that they look almost flat. This trait, along with those huge, dark eyes give the breed its expressive face. When measured from around the jaw hinge and the top of the skull, the circumference of their heads is between 13 and .What is the French Bulldog Chest Size? While they are small dogs, Frenchies are muscular and stocky. They have broad chests, probably from their English Bulldog ancestors, which give them their stocky appearance. Their chests measure 18 to 26 inches 45 to 66 cm around the barrel. Therefore, you should never leave your pup alone near a body of water. What is the French Bulldog Length? Like this, its back is between 10 and 11 inches 25 and 28 cm long. Wrap The French Bulldog is a stocky, compact dog that is just the right size to curl up in your lap while you watch TV, read, or work on the computer. In addition to its small size, its easy-going nature and lack of a tendency to bark make it an excellent choice of pet for apartment dwellers. Frenchie Sizing Within those common French Bulldog size parameters, a lot is going on! All things considered, a French Bulldog is considered to be a small or medium dog. However, they are solid dogs. Frenchies are, indeed, very chonky. One of the most common issues that French Bulldog owners start to have right around their first birthday, is accepting the fact that the head is smaller than the body. During this time, though their bones and body mass have finished growing, their heads will appear bigger because their chest, neck and sometimes face will fill out. Between the filling out of their physiques and any last-minute growth spurts in the frame of your French Bulldog means their head will catch up with their body. On average, their head size will end up being .French Bulldog Chest Size Yup, you guessed it: the chest fills out for a few years even after your doggo becomes an adult dog. French Bulldog Length As you may already know, the length of your French Bulldog is from his withers to his adorable tail stub. Even though the chest, neck, and the head itself may fill out once he gets past his original growth stage, the length tends to be pretty much set from the time he reaches his first birthday or so. Of course, there are always going to be dogs that will be bigger or smaller than that and be perfectly healthy and with a normal life expectancy. There are quite a few factors that go into determining their overall measurements. Genetics, health problems and lifestyle all play a role, for example. Are there different sizes of French bulldogs? This is, specifically, determining whether or not your French Bulldog is a standard Frenchie or a mini aka teacup Frenchie. Toy dog breeds, toy bulldogs, tend to be really common and are a result of breeding exclusively runt pups to create a genetically smaller version of this French Bulldog. A standard French Bulldog is going to meet the specifications listed up above in all of the similar sections. As far as weight is concerned , they tend to fluctuate between lbs 7. There are a lot of factors that go into their weight that you should know about for your French Bulldog, but this is just an average. The American Kennel Club sets the max of weight at under 28 lbs .A teacup or mini French Bulldog, on the other hand, tends to be 2. Firstly, there is an obvious size difference between them. But this difference extends to their feet, tail stubs, ears, body, and everything. Interestingly, mini Frenchies often have the same size difference between their bodies and heads! While they may be different in size, they progress at the same rate as far as French Bulldog growth spurts. Why is my French Bulldog so big? Are you surprised at the overall measurements of your French Bulldog? Feeling a little nervous because your pooch seems to be a little or a lot over the normal parameters above? Take a moment and consider the different options in detail. When you are looking to source your French Bulldog puppy, you should always insist on meeting both Mom and Dad of your potential puppy. While this is important for a lot of reasons, one of them is going to be taking a look at both of them to get a really good estimate for the size you can expect in the future. A proper diet, keeping a proper weight, and staying healthy as far as sickness and other common breed-associated health problems are also important in assessing size overall. Your vet can help you stay on top of this! Are they big or just chonky? Interestingly, when worrying about your French Bulldog being too big, you may want to really get familiar with his body physique! Is his body actually oversized as in, bones and length , or is more of an issue with his chonkiness level? Even though it feels as though your solid Frenchie is just too big, he could just need a few more walks. French Bulldogs can be easily enjoyed even if you live in an apartment! At what age do French Bulldogs stop growing? As mentioned briefly above, French Bulldogs tend to grow as far as length and bones until they are anywhere between 8 months to a year old. French Bulldogs have some pretty distinct characteristics, and their dimensions is definitely one of them.

Time flies so fast when you are having fun with your best friend. Fero is the love of my life. One night when I was in bed, he saw me snoring so loud that he panicked and went down stairs to alarm my mom who was watching tv at that time. He was running around her like nuts and mom thought he wants to go out to potty but Fero went towards the stairs, sat there then look at my mom and look up the stairs. Mom immediately understood what Fero was trying to tell her. They both went upstairs to check on me! I just love this boy. He loves to come with us all the time. So when he is in the car, he whines but when I play the music in the car, oh boy, he is relaxed and quiet enjoying the music. He loves ballad songs… lol I have so much to tell you about Fero. Breeders VS. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. We are a small kennel, located in the gold country of Northern California, a short drive from beautiful San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. We breed and and raise red standard poodle puppies. Our focus is on health and companionship, with the goal to improve the breed, but also to breed sweet pups with temperaments calm enough and suitable for service and therapy dog certification. Our puppies are born in our home, in their own personal puppy room, which by the way is right off our great room and kitchen, in the heart of our home and we are there for the entire whelping process. When the puppies are old enough, they are exposed to any and all sights, smells and sounds that are needed to properly socialize a puppy. One of our goals is for each and every puppy to meet at least 50 different people before they even go to their forever homes. Plus our research has brought us to the realization that over vaccination and early spay and neuter could be shortening the lives of our beloved canines. Therefore we encourage a minimal vaccine protocol and do not encourage spay and neuter until after our beautiful puppies are fully grown. We hope you enjoy exploring our web pages and drop downs that follow, and as you can tell, we are transparent in every aspect of our raising and socialization of these precious puppies. Through pictures, videos, and our 'closed-private' FB group where we post at least one video each and every day of every litters life here at our poodle plantation , and personal visits you can fully see each and every aspect of our breeding program. Now how many breeders can say that. Before there were no red standard poodles. Yes there were reds in the miniature and toy varieties but not the standard size. In the standards there were Apricots. I feel Janet made the greatest impact on the red standard poodles as we know them today. Following are a few kennels that have made a mark on the red standard poodle. Palmares Kennel. Janet Blannin who was Key in the development of the Red color in the standard poodle size passed away .Although the Palmares name lives on. Shangri-la kennel. Ilse Kong passed away in October of .Majestic kennel. Joan Mistkowski started with Shangri-la reds. She passed away in , her daughter took over the kennel and she too passed away in Minarets poodles. Ester Underkofler still breeds, shows, and titles her poodles in among other things agility and obedience proving that standards are more than pretty faces. Leatherstocking kennel. Barbara and Stratfod Deitch were successful in breeding top show quality standard poodles as well as therapy dogs. At this time there are many breeders trying to breed the ever beautiful deep red standard poodles that are conformationally sound enough to show, sweet enough to be therapy dogs, and smart enough to be hunters. I would like to think that my small kennel will do all that and more. COM bottom of page. Contact Us Red Poodles With all the colors available in Poodles it could be hard to choose your puppy. However, it is the red Poodle that is so very rare, so stunning and so special! It does appear that it is a completely separate gene than the other poodle colors. Red Poodles are the newest color developed, it only became an official color in .A red poodle will have black points, nose, gums, under paws and very dark eyes. Liver points are acceptable, but not preferred in red poodles. Red poodles are a stunningly beautiful color, one that is very close to the color of humans with natural red hair. Poodles come in the light red new copper color to the darkest of any human with dark auburn hair. Ilse Konig was the first person who developed the red color of poodles. It was first developed on the Standard Poodle, then crossed with an Apricot female miniature Poodle. After many years of selective breeding, we now have Red Poodles in all the poodle sizes. While developing the red color, it was imperative to breed for all the qualities of a well-bred poodle, which includes temperament, health, conformation, and beauty. Missing any one of these characteristics the red poodles would not be complete! Typically, red poodle puppies are born quite red, then, when they are about 6 weeks old, their coats will turn less red. Then at about 10 weeks, you can see a definite dark red line next to the skin where the new coat color is coming in. It is thrilling to see this in a red poodle puppy. Their mature red color changes cannot be predicted by the color of the puppy. Some dark apricot poodles will stay a brighter color than the red poodles. The Poodle breed is a breed that does change color, as do some other breeds. Do be aware that red poodles can fade, it is common for these breeds to lighten up as they age. Each dog is an individual and will change. This is not to say that the mature red coat will not be gorgeous in its own right. Red Poodles, and poodles in general, tend to lead lively energetic lives. Red poodles are extremely loyal companions, making them ideal pets. They love to learn tricks and will perform for audiences of enthusiastic onlookers and their red color stands out above the rest! Most designer dogs have one thing in common: they are crossed with a Poodle. There is a very good reason for that, the Poodle cross brings up the intelligence and ability to train. Crosses also get some of the benefits of the hypoallergenic qualities of the Poodle, and less shedding. If you live afar, we can safely ship your red poodle puppy to the closest major jet port. If you would like to move forward with reserving one of our red poodle puppies, or any of our puppies, then please search our available poodles , find one you are interested in and then submit your application!

10 week old bulldog puppy - It is still hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that my baby is three. It seems like just yesterday that John Davis was born , yet I blinked and some how I have a three year old. Celebrate big and sweet while they still let us. Well, fast forward to this year and add in the busyness of having a toddler and a baby and I found myself a month out from his birthday with absolutely no plans of what I was going to do. While browsing around in search of ideas I came across these adorable invitations from Dixie Design and fell in love! It was right up my alley with all of the blue and white, puppies, and of course, gingham! I spread out all of the food on our kitchen island on a classic white linen tablecloth. Our kitchen opens up to our family room and breakfast nook which makes for easy entertaining. I created an inexpensive table runner with blue gingham fabric from Hobby Lobby by simply cutting the edges with pinking shears to prevent fraying. I do this for almost every party because it is so easy and inexpensive to buy a few yards of fabric. The adorable cake, which also served as the centerpiece, was made by one of our neighbors. She does not have a business, but if you are local you can send me a message and I will pass along her name. She is simply the best and oh so affordable! Her cakes are absolutely beautiful but they taste even better than they look. Not to mention it was so convenient going only a few houses down to pick up the cake the morning of the party. I use them for just about everything and switch out the ribbon on top accordingly. I wrapped up the utensils in polka dot napkins from Party City and tied them with a blue ribbon. I used these matching polka dot plates and napkins , and served the cake with these coordinating dessert plates and dessert napkins. Taking a little extra time to tie your utensils is not only easy and practical it makes it so easy for guests to grab them and go! What is it about a kids table that is so sweet? I made the banner by simply cutting triangles out of craft paper and hot gluing them onto a white ribbon. Old fashioned party hats make a cute table accessory and the kids loved wearing them too. Can you spy my sweet little birthday boy in the background? I saw them and just had to have them! I had originally planned to put them in the party favor bags, but when I saw how cute they were I decided to set them out on the tables instead. They were so reasonably priced at just ten dollars for two dozen and they were the perfect finishing touch for the table. I ran into Hobby Lobby the day before the party procrastinator looking for small white metal buckets to put them in. Of course it was the day before the party and of course my local Hobby Lobby had every color bucket imaginable except for white. Why does it always work that way?! With no time to waste I threw these metal buckets in the buggy and was out spray painting them white in our backyard the night before the party. I stuck some floral foam from the DollarTree down in each bucket and topped them with white paper shreds also from the DollarTree. And obviously I just had to tie a blue ribbon around each lollipop stick. I used this cookie cutter to cut them into the dog shape. Once you have prepared your sandwiches, put them in between two damp paper towels and place them inside an airtight ziplock back. When you are ready to set your sandwiches out on your serving tray, place the damp paper towels on top of your sandwiches until your guests arrive. This will keep your bread nice and soft and prevent it from drying out before the party starts. These little dog shaped sandwiches were so simple, but everyone went crazy over them! Even I have to say they were so cute! Also on the menu: puppy chow. I made a HUGE batch of this even doubled the recipe and it was gone in no time. Note to self: next time, quadruple the recipe! Also on the menu: pimento cheese and crackers. This Palmetto pimento cheese is to die for. We bought two big tubs from Costco and every single bit of it was gone. This is another one of those things that is very inexpensive and very easy to do, but adds so much. We also had chicken fingers and honey mustard dipping sauce, a veggie tray with ranch dressing, a fruit tray, and chicken salad and croissants. All of the fruit and veggies came from Costco. I cut them up and placed them on white serving trays the night before the party. They were ready to go and all I had to do was pull them out of the fridge the morning of the party. I had originally planned on making a big batch of chicken salad what was I thinking?! For drinks we had water, tea and apple juice boxes for the children. Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails Party Favors One of my favorite things to do for a party is put together cute party favor bags for the children, and these puppy dog bags did not disappoint! I started with a plain white craft bag from Hobby Lobby. I cut out the shapes for the ears, eyes, nose and hat from cardstock and used a hot glue gun to glue each piece onto the bag. I tied the top together with raffia which makes the perfect finishing touch! I set them out on our entryway table so that guests could see them when they entered and grab one to go when they left. I love the Little Golden Books because they are so classic. I made a printable tag for the book and for the puppy chow and tied them on with raffia to coordinate with the bags. I used this scalloped circle punch to cut them out. While I was cutting out the shapes for the party favor bags, I also made a puppy dog garland banner for the mantel. This puppy dog banner just may have been my favorite thing from the entire party! I love the way the baby blue stands out against all of the white! Another thing I decided the day before the party? That we needed a door hanger for the party! Then I got to painting with white craft paint and used a blue paint pen for the lettering. One of my other favorite things from the party was the giant dog wearing a party hat and holding balloons in his mouth. He greeted guests outside as they walked up to the front door. I used our jigsaw to cut out the shape and attached it to stakes to stick down into the ground. A few days before the party I had to run into Target to grab a few things. Obviously I cannot go into Target without checking out all the cuteness in the dollar spot. Lo and behold they had this cute little wooden snail! Obviously it was just meant to be : I painted him green and he looked so cute next to the dog. Happy 3rd Birthday John Davis! How cute does my sweet boy look in his puppy dog birthday shirt? How lucky am I to be able to call up Mother and place an order for custom clothing?? Fletcher was ready for a nap before the party even started and Mr. Fletcher slept through almost the entire party, which actually worked out well because we were able to give John Davis our full attention. And he definitely enjoyed that piece of cake! Who needs utensils when you can eat icing with your hands? Love these rare pictures of just me and my big boy! And my little boy, too! These pictures of our little family might just be some of my favorites of all time. But they so perfectly depict our lives right now: fast and furious with two energetic boys, but more full of love and joy than I could ever describe! And look at my beautiful Mama. But thats okay because she loves him and spoils him like only a Grandmother should. See these firemen boots? They are the only shoes John Davis will wear right now. I tried to snap a few pictures of just John Davis before the party, but most of them are just a big blur of movement. I know he is mine, but that little face still takes my breath away. I love these sweet pictures of John Davis with his cousin Riley. How cute are they together?! His mama and I were inseparable as cousins growing up and I hope Riley and John Davis are the exact same way. And would you just look at my Grandmother and how beautiful she is? We sure do love our Mamaw. It truly means the world to have us all together for special days like these. Candid Hubby… he loves birthday parties ; And my two beautiful and sweet Aunts! Love this picture of my Mama and my Mamaw. And I love this one with all three generations all in one picture. Tayler and I have pictures of us together at their age holding our baby dolls. Now here we are together holding our own real-life baby dolls! Just as the party was about over Fletcher finally woke up from his nap and came down to say hi to everyone. Look at that sweet sleepy face. The kids barely stopped the entire afternoon and they had so much fun playing in the bounce house. It came highly recommended from my sister in law who has the same one for her kids. It has held up great over time, and even though her kids are older now they still love to play on it. John Davis especially loves the slide and he must have gone down it at least times. Another bonus? The kiddos get ALL of their energy out! I love this picture of Daddy and John Davis. These were my best attempt at getting a picture of John Davis and Fletcher together. Photographing a toddler and a baby together is a challenge like no other! These sweet boys were worn out as the party was over. We had such a great time just sitting around and spending time with our family for the rest of the afternoon. I happened to look over and snap this picture of two sleepy boys holding hands watching TV together before they crashed for the night. And since Fletcher was finally awake, I had to take the opportunity to get a few pictures of him with the puppy dog and the snail. He will probably never get any hair because we rub on his head so much! Happy, Happy Birthday John Davis!!! We are so thankful God gave us the opportunity to be your Mama and Daddy. We love you more than we could ever put into words! Here are our four favorite baby boy shower gifts for An adorable Hospital Snuggle Set. Each set comes complete with a matching newborn top, pants, hat, and coming home blanket in beautiful blue with a super-sweet and unexpected balloon animal print accent. Ultra soft organic cotton makes for baby safe snuggles, and for bonus baby shower points, you can get add a custom embroidered baby name or monogram! Baby booties that stay put and look chic. Hook and loop closures make them easy to take on and off, and their fuzzy faux-fur exterior guarantees baby boy will be a tiny newborn trendsetter. A sweetly personalized picture book. A little boy named Ben might meet a Bear, while Huck might run into a Hippo. No matter how prepared new parents are, raising baby boys is full of joy, adventure, exhaustion, and a whole lot of surprises. Whether you bring one of our favorite baby shower gifts, or a unique gift of your own, continue to shower new parents with your love and support as baby boy grows! It takes a village, after all. They are lucky to have you in theirs! Received in extremely poor condition. Covered in dirty and sticky marks, holes and scuffs in the leather. Also the latch to lock it does not meet the hole correctly, so very poor quality. Looks like it's been kicked around a dirty warehouse. This was a gift so had to clean it up myself. Seller unhelpful in communication about a partial or full refund. The quality is super and they appear very hard wearing. The size of the large one is good and can easily cope with keeping larger items in. The smaller one is also a good size, larger than a jewellery box and therefore able to hold a good amount too. Beautifully designed, brilliant quality and lots of storage for items such as first pair of shoes, clothes, baby toys etc. Bought for my niece's first birthday - will be a lovely accessory for her bedroom. I bought these as a Baptismal present for a baby girl. There's plenty of room in the two pretty boxes to store all the cards one would want to keep; plus school reports; certificates etc etc etc plus a baby-book. Wonderful gift and prompt delivery. .As another reviewer has found, the boxes were delivered in poor condition with the faux leather scuffed. The trim wasn't stuck on properly and I could feel the sticky glue around the box. I had to chase the refund once I had sent it back and even then I did ot get the postage refunded. Reviewed in the United States on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 August Not Wonderful i had to return this item as it was not in a great condition to give as a gift. Well made and a good size. Very well made. These are absolutely gorgeous! Arrived within 2 days of ordering and came in perfect condition no faults what so ever! They and Sinister have a conversation about mechanics and robot engineering. Cast of Characters: Sinister has posed: Sunnydale is having a particularly nice day outside. Many slurpees have been sold, as have frappes and ice-creams for a particularly hot kind of day. Inside, one presumes things to be a little cooler, but you never know if old fashioned store keepers ever bothered with much more than a ceiling fan. The door chimes, the tall figure of Sinister stepping inside, sans disguise. As himself; cloak dispensed with in favour of a cloak of feathers that sit tight-tight to his back. Anyone about? Nikki Hawkins has posed: It is a nice and sunny day in Sunnydale, and Nikki is out roaming the town because she can be. At least today she's without her robot companion, because Squishy doesn't so well for long periods of time in hot weather. Did someone say slurpee? Nikki has one of those! Then she wanders - as a Nikki does - until she finds the Magic Box, and since it's earlier in the day and she doesn't see anyone familiar outside, she walks up the steps and peeks inside. She eyes the Feathered Man tm for a moment and then decidedly side-steps away from him and just begins walking around. Cause all in all she's a perfectly normal young adult who likes to shop around. And sip on a slurpee. It's not until she opens her mouth that she may prove otherwise. Mercy Thompson has posed: The chiming of the door has a way of getting attention. It might not be the attention that's being particularly sought out, but it's still attention. From out of the back room of the shop is where Mercy quietly steps, a mug of something steaming held in her left hand. A smile comes to tug at the corners of her lips, and she gives a small nod of greeting. Her black hair is caught in her typical pigtails, though they seem a bit frayed simply from having been in for hours already. She wears a pair of blue jean shorts that, from their cut off edges, were once jeans. Her usual tan steel-toed boots are on her feet, and she wears a blue t-shirt with a cartoonish white VW beetle putt-putting across the front of it. There's a glance given towards the young woman that she doesn't know, and her attention shifts back to Sinister. Wait, do I know you? Sinister looks to Mercy as the woman exits the back, gesturing open palmed across himself at Nikki. With a icey drink? I am not having an archangel induced flashback? Ahh, hello Mercy.Nikki Hawkins has posed: When she hears the name 'Squishy', Nikki turns her attention towards the Feathered Man tm and upon seeing his face her eyes go wide. Nikki saw the mudmonster! Red-eyed Man tm was trying to squish things! Nikki and Squishy made an escape. It was weird. She's right here. Why is he asking if she is real? Mercy Thompson has posed: "Squishy? Who's Squishy? I suppose a Squishy could be a what," she adds, one of her eyebrows quirking slightly. She tilts her head a touch to one side, looking over towards the young woman with the Slurpee and then back to Sinister. And she blinks. Mercy glances towards the young woman and then back to Sinister. Why would you think that you're having an archangel induced flashback? She lifts her mug of tea to take a sip of it. Sinister has posed: "Yeeees, I think so. I mean, I'm not obsessed with anything unusual and.No more mud monsters for now, they dissipated when the police opened fire. Just a moment. He holds up a hand to Mercy, pinching the bridge of his nose and pressing at his eyes with the other. A rather old romanian magician made mud monster golems, but the police got called, because.Got shot. I think miss Nikki fled and there was a tiny rolly robot called Squishy. Did I get that all correct, more or less? He lets the wings relax then; they shuffle as they unfurl enough to LOOK like wings and settle. Nikki Hawkins has posed: Nikki tilts her head one way and then the other before giving a nod of her head and then she's distracted by something shiny. When she hears Nathaniel speak again, she looks back up and seems to look confused. Nikki and Squishy must have left before they came. He doesn't do well in the heat, so Nikki left him at home today. But most people who meet Nikki meet Squishy too. Nikki'll bring him by sometime so Pigtail Lady can meet him! Another slurp of her icey drink is taken as she walks around, careful not to touch anything, just looking for the moment. Mercy Thompson has posed: There's a curious look towards the young woman with the frosty drink, and then Mercy turns her gaze back to Sinister. And she blinks, caught a touch off guard by something he says. I heard a brief mention on the news about. They didn't give details, but the reporter mentioned that shots had been fired," she says softly. Or perhaps something cold to drink? The cold drink might be more welcome on a day like today. She gives a slower sort of nod at the explanation that he offers to encompass the mudmonsters and other occurrences of the same night. If she didn't know about his healing ability then she'd have been concerned about him getting shot. Mercy's attention shifts to Nikki at the explanation about Squishy. That's cool. It sounds like he could maybe benefit from some type of improved cooling system, if the heat is a problem. But that's just a guess on my part," she says, a thoughtful tone to her voice. Then a smile tugs at the corners of her lips. You can call me Mercy, if you like," she offers with a bit of a nod. Sinister has posed: "I guess yes, that was that night. Shots fired," Sinister snorts at that, watching Mercy interact with NIkki now, studying the pair of women. Multiple shots, shot multiple times. But there we go. But you know, I can do that myself.A clunk has him wincing, ".Maybe he needs a cooling system. Nikki needs to find more parts so she can make adjustments to Squishy. Still sipping on her slurpee, she then manages her way to where some books are in shelves and she busies herself with looking those over for a moment. Nikki is Nikki. The Red-Eyed Man hasn't given Nikki a name yet.Nikki calls him Stoop Man. And Romanian Man too. He helped Nikki get some stuff out of a dumpster once. It's why she likes it and keeps coming back. But this is her first time inside. One of her eyebrows quirks up as she turns back to face him, studying him for a moment before giving a nod. The clunk has her turning her head to look in the direction of the back room, but since it does't sound like anything broke, her attention returns back to him. And to the young woman. Mercy gives a nod. And a cooling system would be a good idea for him, if he minds the heat. Then he could keep you company even when it's hot out. It'll get hotter, later in the summer," she comments, her tone thoughtful. Then she tilts her head a touch to one side. She lifts her mug, taking a sip of her tea and stepping closer to where Sinister has settled, drawing out a seat to settle into. One that gives her a vantage of the shop. She isn't entirely sure who the others are that Nikki has met, given the unusual names that she gives them. Sinister has posed: "Oh, yes, I do beg your pardon, I was out of my head when we met," Sinister looks at Mercy with an incline of his head, "polite but unnecessary, just this once. The kettle whistles to boiling and clicks, the sound of pouring water follows and a cup floats out from the kitchenette, steaming as it floats on in to settle infront of him. If there's a hard to source part, please -do- let me know. Squishy needs a cooling system. Nikki hasn't found a good cooling system. They're really expensive even at market costs. Nikki might get one after her next tournament. Something titled 'Magick for Beginners', which she flips through a little bit. She totally misses the floating cup that comes from the kitchen to Sinister. Red-Eyed man is also Nathaniel. Nikki will try to remember that but sometimes she's bad at remembering real names which is why she gives nicknames. It's fun. But she's running out of pieces to make go boom. She lifts her tea to take a sip of it, then glances towards the tea as it floats over to come to rest in front of him. One of her eyebrows raises, and then she gives a nod, her chin ducking a touch. There's been a higher amount of drop-in work at the garage last week, so the work on the engine for the Rabbit hasn't gone as quickly as what I'd expected, but it's getting there," she says, a smile returning to her features. Her attention turns to Nikki, and she gives a small nod. Would something like an air conditioning system from a vehicle be able to be modified to fit and work? Sinister has posed: "Compressor. Miniature one, from the higher end Beemers and Mercs ought to do it, modified with some work. Might need to load a cannister of freon, but that's the poor man's conditioning," Sinister murmurs, sipping the piping hot tea as he lifts it with his hands. A sidelong look is shot to Mercy and he inclines his head oh-so-gently, sipping again. Worry actually, given I'm.It felt good to confess, Mercy. There's the hydrolic system that makes him move.Seems she really knows her stuff, even if she comes off sounding like she's not got a lot of brains in her head. The mainframe can't handle the intake though, and only processes like five commands a second which isn't something Nikki wants. If Nikki is going to impress anyone, she wants it to be perfect.Stuff is dangerous.Nikki just doesn't have the means to do all of that. She's working on it though. It all starts coming together into more cohesive sentences. Mercy Thompson has posed: There's a thoughtful expression that creeps to Mercy's features at Sinister's mention of where the compressor might be sourced from, and she finds herself giving a slow nod. Compressor, that is," she says in a thoughtful tone. She ducks her chin slightly. I didn't mean to cause you any sort of worry over the matter. I would have let you know the last time that I saw you, but I became a bit.She studies him for a moment, and then she gives a small nod. Perhaps they're not wrong," she says softly. She has her own truths to tell that she's been keeping secret, or that she thinks she's been keeping secret, at any rate. Her gaze lingers on him for a moment, and then she looks over to Nikki, studying the young woman. Similar to a radiator in a vehicle, sort of," she muses, a thoughtful tone to her voice. Sinister has posed: Sinister opens his mouth, closes it several times, the speech he might have given cut short by second thoughts. He looks to both women with this though, the one that hides things that he's at least partially aware of and the enthusiastic roboteer and ends up frowning to the point of it almost being a scowl. His forehead is rubbed, his tea covetted whilst he works his way through whatever this is. He looks annoyed, though not at them, more some nebulous thing that might be himself. Well, they're both mechanics. Clicking his fingers a circle of electricity manifests beside him as it is want to do and a metallic tentacle dips in, setting a cube on the table of the magic shop. He taps it and it goes through a series of contortions along a pythagorean configuration, folding smaller and smaller into a different shape, until he has a heavy wrench. He gestures at it, for Mercy's benefit. He then taps it again and it unfolds, then breaks apart into tiny triangles. Nikki Hawkins has posed: Nikki looks between the two for a moment before figuring her icey drink is a bit more interesting than the topic of conversation that she's not really a part of anyway. She's just a normal human, there's nothing about her that can sense anything, or feel anything, or has any sort of way to know that someone is a little on the irritated side. Even social cues fail her but that's because she's got a mental disorder that she's never been tested for. So when Sinister does that thing with a circle of electricity and pulls out some cube with a metallic tentacle, her eyes go wide and she skitters from the table. Her chair knocks over and she almost looses her slushie. What's the doctor doing?! Mercy Thompson has posed: There's a significant moment whilst Nathaniel is doing a goldfish impression in which Mercy waits for the words to come from him. And then they don't. She tilts her head a touch to one side, and she lifts her mug of tea to take a sip from it. She watches him, and watches his expression shift from frown to near scowl. She shifts her position slightly, crossing one of her legs over the other at the knee. Perhaps a touch wary, but annoyed powerful males tend to invoke that sort of thing. One of her eyebrows quirks up as the ring of electricity manifests, and there's the mechanical tentacle that comes out of it. Her attention is caught by that, secured on it, and then once it's gone, her gaze slips to the cube. She looks to Nikki, and a smile touches her lips. Then she looks back to Nathaniel. This seems to be a familiar thing to Sinister as he swings his head over toward Nikki, fixing her with that solid red regard for a moment or two, then away. Well, Mercy will sense he bristles, but contains it and bites it down. But odder perhaps is not treating this as a situation where someone won't understand. It takes a lot of energy, but I've mastered the power of quantum singularity and Tony Stark did wonders for zero-point energy. That's been around elsewhere for a while. What that allows me to do, is by the electric signals of my brain, I can activate wormhole gates to create teleport holes from the location of my installations, to where I currently am, punching through by creating molecular symmetry between this ring here and that ring there, opening a hole. Quantum nanotech is adaptive and can be whatever you instruct it to be. THe processors however. They end up being triple parallel, because of the design and will greatly enhance your ability to instill commands in Squishy. Have fun figuring them out. She tilts her head for a moment, taking in all that he's saying, and the name that he drops. It should be blocked by the skull and the flesh. A hair-coated Labradoodle is the least popular among people with allergies owing to the fact that it sheds the most out of the three types. This makes them the least hypoallergenic. The straight coat can vary in length and thickness, so you may have to take your dog to the grooming salon more often than you had anticipated. The muzzle area is usually hair coated and will be a good indicator of their coat type. Fleece or Wavy Coated Labradoodles Fleece-coated Labradoodles are the easiest to maintain compared to the other two types, making them the most preferable. Labradoodles with this type of coat experience minimal shedding, thus helping keep allergies at bay. This coat also requires the least maintenance. The fleece coat comes in three varieties — straight, loose curls, and very curly. However, just because this type of coat sheds the least does not mean you can skip the groomers. Whatever type of coat your Labradoodle may have, a visit to the groomers at least once every six weeks along with regular grooming at home is necessary for maintaining its healthy coat. This rich black coat is a fairly common Labradoodle shade. Labradoodles are a hypoallergenic breed of dog. As they grow, they also begin losing the coats that they are born with. This transition usually starts as early as 6 months of age but can even take until they are 12 months of age. Ideally, you should brush your pup slowly and carefully, reaching down to its skin to ensure that the old puppy coat is coming off. This will help the puppy coat to shed faster, remove any tangles from its fur, prevent matting, and help the adult coat grow healthier. The Labradoodle ranks 1 for being a hypoallergenic dog and specifically bred for it. A hypoallergenic dog poses a significantly lower risk of causing an allergic reaction. This is because dogs that are labeled as hypoallergenic shed little to no fur at all. The first Labradoodle was created for a blind Hawaiian lady whose husband had an allergy to dogs. Since then, the popularity of this breed has grown rapidly. Labradoodles shed less fur, resulting in much less dander, as they have coats that are easy to maintain. As previously stated, the process of a puppy coat shedding varies from pup to pup but typically begins when they are 6 months of age. While Labradoodles are a hypoallergenic breed, it does not mean a Labradoodle pup will never lose its puppy coat. Most furry dog breeds shed in the sense that they lose their fur regularly. This is not the case with Labradoodles. This Apricot Mini Labradoodle is looking up at the camera, because he thinks he might get a treat he did. A Labradoodle puppy does not shed its puppy coat overnight or within a few days. Losing the puppy coat is a gradual process that can take up to a year and a half until the new coat grows. To allow the adult coat to grow properly, the puppy coat needs to be shed entirely. This is also why brushing your Labradoodle puppy is so important. When brushing your pup, you will notice strands of hair falling out at first. Eventually, tufts of puppy hair will come out. The more you brush your dog, the more you will be pulling out the old hair to make way for new growth. If you do notice any signs or symptoms, make sure to visit the vet and take appropriate measures for treatment. How To Manage A Shedding Labradoodle Puppy Coat Once your Labradoodle puppy starts shedding its puppy coat, it is advisable that you brush your dog regularly and at least groom it a couple of times every week or during daily periods of excessive shedding. Different dog breeds shed differently, so if you think something is amiss, you can always consult your vet to get your pup checked out. However, to avoid such dire situations, you need to make sure that you groom and brush your puppy regularly to avoid any matting. Depending on the type of Labradoodle coat your pup will develop, you should ideally be brushing your dog at least once a week to prevent any matting or tangled fur. Comb When you brush the coat, make sure you brush in the opposite direction of the hair growth. This will allow you to remove the old hair better. Then, you can move on to brushing in the direction of hair growth. You can do this with a fine-tooth comb. Ideally, a wooden or stainless steel comb would be a good choice. Make sure you pick a comb with wide teeth on one end and fine on the other. Detangler As your pet grows into a new coat, the old hair can knot up. This is when a detangler is needed. A detangler will help you effectively de-knot the coat without causing any distress to your pet. This tool is designed to help loosen the tangles and mats while being super gentle on your pup. If you keep putting off brushing your pooch, the old puppy coat will not shed but the new coat will start growing in, which will result in matting. A de-matting comb will be your knight in shining armor in such cases. Over-shedding is one example of why your pup may require a full body checkup as complete hair loss is unhealthy. Labradoodle playing in a water fountain. What a way to cool off on a warm day! While some people may be genuinely allergic to certain dog breeds, allergic reactions are typically caused by the dander or allergens present in dog fur. Without any exception, all dog breeds produce allergens that are responsible for allergies. These allergens are usually found in the dander, hair, urine, and saliva of a dog. If your dog is cooped up indoors for too long, it is prone to producing more allergens. This is why it is essential to take your dog out regularly. While there is no fool-proof way of deducing the type of coat your Labradoodle will have, there are still ways you can perhaps make an educated guess. For example, an F1B Labradoodle typically has fleece fur. Tracing genetics will give you a clearer picture of the outcome you can expect. Another way is to inspect the fur around the muzzle and the face of your Labradoodle pup. In the case of a fleece-haired coat, however, you will be able to determine the type of hair it will have by the time your pup is almost five weeks old by checking the fur around its eyes. As you might have guessed, this dog is a cross between poodle and Labrador parents — and the result is an adorable bundle of joy with a sweet, gentle personality. Labradoodle puppy coats come in a range of colors and textures, so labradoodle owners are spoiled for choice when choosing their fur baby. Read on to discover more about Labradoodles and labradoodle coat types. What Are Hypoallergenic Dog Coats? Hypoallergenic dogs have less of a thick coat than many other breeds. A highly shedding coat presents a higher risk to allergy sufferers than non-shedding dogs like a labradoodle puppy. As a dog with one of the most allergy-friendly coats , there are a few practicalities to keep in mind when it comes to your labradoodle pooch and its coat. Pretty much every labradoodle puppy goes through a coat change, which is separate from a shedding coat. The puppy coat is eventually replaced by an adult coat, which comes with more grooming requirements. Types of Labradoodle Puppy Coats One of the best things about labradoodle dogs is the wide range of choices with regard to appearance. Wool Coat You can determine if your Labradoodle puppy has a fleece coat. You can identify fleece coats by the way the fur sits between the eyes, as this area starts to get curly first. This is the curliest coat type, but it still comes in a variety of types. Some dogs with a curly coat have a cotton-type coat, which is the softest but also incredibly high maintenance. Labradoodle puppies with wool Labradoodle puppy coats are mainly non-shedding and can make great companions for pet owners with allergies. Fleece Coat Doodles with a fleece coat require a little less maintenance than the other types of doodles, but they still need weekly brushing and plenty of TLC. A fleece-coated labradoodle is the result of combining a curly wool coat gene with the gene for a straight coat. Areas such as the ears and collar are particularly prone to getting matted, so be sure to pay close attention to these areas when you brush your fleece-coated labradoodle once or twice per week. Hair Coat A labradoodle with a straight coat has inherited most of its fur genes from its Labrador retriever parent. Something interesting about Labradoodles is that their Labradoodle puppy coats change as they get older, so your hair-coated labradoodle might get a wave to its fur as it gets older. While you can also take it to a professional groomer on a weekly basis, this can incur hefty grooming costs. Most labradoodle owners opt to take their dog to a groomer once a month or two and do regular adult coat maintenance themselves. Use the correct type of dog brush and be sure to get all the way down to the skin. Give your dog a brush before and after bath time. All puppies eventually lose their puppy coat to make way for their adult coat, this goes the same with Labradoodle puppy coats. You might find the new type of coat is totally different from the old coat. Coats and Generational Differences The amount of hair your dog sheds varies between puppies, but generational differences can also play a role. First-generation doodles shed slightly more than second-generation doodles, with multigenerational Labradoodles shedding even less. We genetically test each breeding parent to make sure the shedding genes are not passed on to the puppies in our training program. It is quite a gradual process. The process typically starts around 6 months of age. But, it can take up to a year and a half to complete. This may not be great news if you or someone else in your family suffers from dog allergies. But, as long as your Labradoodle grows up to have a fleece or wool coat, you will have less shed fur to clean once the puppy coat has fully shed and the adult coat grows in. What is a Labradoodle Puppy Coat Like? The Labradoodle puppy coat is a lot different to all adult varieties. Puppy coats are always single layer. Are Labradoodle Puppy Coats Hypoallergenic? After their creation, the resulting demand for an allergy-friendly dog catapulted Labradoodles to worldwide fame. It also led to the development of many other hybrid dog breeds. The truth is, there is no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. So, Labradoodle puppy coats cannot be hypoallergenic. So, your Labradoodle puppy coat will not catch any falling dander. Allergens could still find their way onto other objects in your home. And, their shedding puppy coats could aggravate your allergies. Adult Labradoodles can have one of three coat types: Hair coat — will shed moderately all year, and heavily during shedding seasons Fleece coat — will shed lightly to moderately, varies from one Doodle to the next Wool coat — does not shed visibly, but hair sheds into the surrounding coat, which can cause painful knots if not groomed properly Influence from Parent Breeds Labradoodles come from a long line of working dogs; primarily the Labrador Retriever and the Standard Poodle. Labrador Retrievers typically have a double coat. Their fur has an insulating under-layer and a protective outer-layer which helps them in their working roles. The Poodle, on the other hand, is one of the rare working breeds with a single layer coat. Are Adult Labradoodle Coats Hypoallergenic? The fleece type of adult Labradoodle coat will often be best for individuals that suffer from allergies. But, this will still need regular grooming to control shedding dander. And, regardless of which adult coat your Doodle has, your dog will still need to shed out their puppy coat first. Suddenly, you will find tufts and clumps of shed dog hair everywhere, where before there was none. This can start as early as six months. So, watch out for shed fur from this age. It could start anywhere from six to nine months, or even slightly outside of this range. The puppy coat has to be completely shed out to allow the adult coat to grow in. That would leave your Labradoodle defenseless against pests, the elements, and injury. Instead, their coat will shed in stages, over time. This is why it can take up to a year and a half for the puppy coat to fully shed out and the adult coat to fully grow in. Depending on the adult coat your Labradoodle inherits, these hairs may be long and straight hair coat , long and loosely curly fleece coat , or short and tightly curled wool coat. In most cases, a Labradoodle will have fully lost their puppy coat and grown into their adult one between the ages of 12 and 15 months. But, there is no exact timer that buzzes the moment this process is finished. But, some veterinarians may be happy for you to cut it short with scissors, to keep your cleaning schedule for shed fur a little more manageable. Not only will this help you to gather and remove shed fur before it goes all over your floor, but it will also familiarise your Labradoodle with the grooming process. All three types of adult Labradoodle coat require regular grooming. Are you dealing with a shedding puppy coat right now? Matting is a clump of tangled hair that is difficult to comb through. If they get too serious, a groomer will have to cut out patches of hair. Genetics plays a part in determining how much hair a Labradoodle will shed or lose. Second F1b generation, third-generation F3b and multigenerational Labradoodles are going to shed less than a first-generation Labradoodle F1. Some owners will actually look for a second, third, or multigenerational Labradoodle dog just for the non-shedding or low-shedding attributes. Read this for a more detailed look at multi-generational Labradoodles. Australian Labradoodles are usually a good choice for people looking for asthma and allergy-friendly dogs. Of the various types of Labradoodles, the wool-coated Labradoodle has had the highest success rate for people suffering from asthma or dog-related allergies. They go through a coat change where their puppy coat changes to an adult coat. When this shedding process begins, the coat will begin to fill out and will get thicker. If the puppy is not brushed daily, the coat will become very matted and tangled. The more hair you see coming out in the brush, the better the puppy will look. Other owners use this opportunity as a way to bond with the dog and become familiar with the brushing process, which should become a regular part of their lives. The age at which Labradoodles stop shedding their puppy coat depends on the age it began the shedding process. It can take from a week to several weeks, and every dog does it at a different age. One puppy may be shedding its puppy coat between the ages of months while another may be from months of age. If you suddenly realize your Labradoodle puppy is in need of a good haircut, the pup has probably begun the shedding process. Changing from a puppy coat to an adult coat can bring an entirely different color texture and overall appearance. All dogs create allergens or proteins, which are what usually cause allergies. What are the Different Types of Labradoodle Coats? Labradoodles have three types of coat: hair, fleece, and wool. There are two reasons for this. One reason is that Labradoodles come in many, many different colors. Secondly, while there are only three types of coats, there is some variation within the different coat types. Depending on the length and density of the hair, Labradoodles with a hair coat should be brushed at least once a month. Due to its resemblance to the Labrador Retriever, the hair coat is the one that sheds the most and will be the least hypoallergenic. Fleece The fleece coat may be normal fleece or microfine fleece. Normal fleece has the texture of soft angora and may be wavy or have loose spirals. In addition to being brushed every couple of weeks, this coat requires trimming once or twice a year. Also wavy or spirally, the microfine fleece is very fine and super soft. Because of the texture, it tends to get matted easily. It will need a good brushing or combing at least once a week. The coat should also be trimmed a couple of times a year to prevent it from growing past three inches. Both types of fleece coats are said to be asthma- and allergy-friendly coats. Wool The wool coat comes in three types: original wool, cotton wool, and loose or new style wool. Cotton wool is super dense, may be straight or curly and is the softest of the three wool coats. When groomed, it stands up and often has the appearance of a big cotton ball. Each of these wool types are asthma- and allergy-friendly coats with the original wool having the most success in this area. All three require regular trimming.
